YET ANOTHER POKÉMON STORY
A Johto/Kanto Adventure

Rated T
IC
TitanPad

Johto. A land of adventure, history, and promise. Home to beautiful landmarks and scenery, Johto is a popular tourist attraction and an enjoyable place to live. There's even the nearby Kanto region, where you can explore as well.
The most popular attraction in not just Johto, but in most regions, is the Gym Challenge. Many trainers aspire to be "the very best, like no one ever was" as the legendary Kantonian pop singer, Jason Paige would say. But some trainers take a different path, whether it be Contests, Breeding, or just exploration.

But there's also evil in this prosperous country. Ever since two months ago, the infamous Team Rocket has risen from the shadows; stealing and selling Pokémon, even going as low as using them for experiments or for forced labor. No one really knows what their ultimate goal is.

Welcome to Yet Another Johto Story! Yes, that is what it's actually called.

Well, even though we have multiple Kanto and Johto roleplays out there, I still wanted to add a little bit of "Catman" into the generic Gold/Silver/Crystal/HeartGold/SoulSilver mix if that even makes sense.

Mechanics

First, in this RP, there will be Mega Evolution, but you know the rules, you can only achieve it if you and your Pokémon have a strong bond.
Mega Stones will be distributed/made available by me, the GameMaster. You can give your own character a Key Stone whenever you want.

Second, everyone who signs up will vote for a town/city (in Johto) along with your SU. The town/city with the most votes will be the starting town (instead of New Bark Town).
Also, while you cannot go to further routes/towns without a new post from me, you may visit previous towns and routes, and catch Pokémon that you wanted but didn't get, or challenge Gym Leaders that you didn't fight beforehand. All Gyms can be challenged in any order. The Leader's strength will be based upon the amount of Gym Badges you currently have. Also, the way that they're designed, Gyms will have no extra trainers inside them. Rather, the entire gym will be the battlefield for you and the Leader. For example:
Spoiler:

Only Pokémon from Generations 1-4 will be available unless if it's your starter, it evolves into a Pokémon from Gens 5 & 6 (i.e. You can evolve the Eevee you obtained into a Sylveon if you want), or if you obtain it from an event. All Pokémon will have their ΩRuby and αSapphire movesets, their Gen 6 typings, and their Gen 6 abilities (i.e. Jigglypuff will be a Normal/Fairy-type, and can learn Disarming Voice at level 11).

Speaking of levels: for convenience, there will be no EVs nor will there be any IVs. Levels, stats, and money will be approximated, but please keep them reasonable.

Your character isn't forced to take the gym challenge. Pursue anything you like!

This RP's story will be based upon what everyone writes. So if someone writes something crazy involving Team Rocket, then I will try and build off upon that for the canon story. Don't you feel so much power coursing through your veins and fingertips?

One more thing, more than one person can enter the Hall of Fame. So if one character defeats the Elite Four before you do, then you can still enter the Hall of Fame.

And don't forget to have fun! Or else.

Yo, I'm definitely on board with this! It's a journey RP with a few intriguing twists to the formula and the idea of developing the story based on the direction taken by us players is a great thing to establish!

I'll start developing a character later today.

Interesting...not sure if I'll have time to join another RP, but if I do, expect an SU later today or tomorrow. I don't want to place a reserve, since I want to leave it open for someone who actually needs it.

Alright, and here I await your SU! Do you want me to go ahead and put you on the OP?

Once I get 8 characters in, I'm actually planning to keep sign ups open for another 24 hours. So anyone who wants to join can, even if they're the 10th+ player. So it's no rush! Well, at least until 8 people join.

Here's my WIP SU, this looks awesome!
Spoiler:
Okay then, while I know that this is just a WIP, I'll get you added!

Oh, and by the way, you can create an extra SU for your rival if you want. I'm gonna create one for my character's sister, because she's gonna be in most of the posts I make anyway. Unless if you want to give the reader a more "mysterious vibe" from this so-called rival by giving them as little info as possible, then I say go for it. ;)

TONY "SHADOW" O'SHEA

Name: Tony "Shadow" O'Shea

Age: 16

Gender: Male

Appearance: (picture above) Standing at 6'2, Tony looms over most people he meets though he sports a wiry frame as he is only 135 pounds. To finish off his wardrobe, he carries a medium-sized backpack on him to hold any necessities as well as a light full-zip jacket for the colder nights and he wears light gray, athletic sweatpants for easy maneuvering.

Personality: Shadow always feels like he has something to prove. As such, he carries himself in a way that can be off-putting to others. He has a very determined demeanor with serious case of resting, angry, might sick his Pokemon on you at any moment face. He knows what he wants and he is not afraid to go out and get it, no matter the danger that may be involved. In addition, he will do anything for those he loves, oftentimes ending up in some kind of fight for those who hurt his loved ones. As hardcore as he may seem, Shadow does have a soft side. In his free time, he really enjoys cloud watching and on sunny, partly cloudy days will waste hours finding pictures of Pokemon and objects in the clouds.

History: Tony is the 4th child of Margaret and Bill O'Shea, owners of their very own restaurant in Cianwood City. Growing up, Tony had to deal with his 3 older brothers who always picked on him, often forcing Tony to have to fend for himself. He lead a rough life and was always in his brothers' shadows, always doing the same activities as them, his nickname eventually becoming Shadow as he always seemed to follow his brothers around. Then an opportunity to distinguish himself from his family arose. The Johto League. No one in Tony's family had ever gone on to become a trainer in their lives instead choosing to continue working in the family restaurant business. At age 14, he set out to prove himself to his family that he was his own person and didn't need the restaurant. His family thought he was crazy but that only fueled Tony on. Eventually, his parents relented and signed Shadow up for the apprentice program at the Gym, headed by Chuck the Gym Leader. 2 years later, he has graduated and is ready to begin his quest towards becoming Champion.

Rival: Older brother Jet (not a main character, more information will come throughout the RP in interactions)

Hometown: Cianwood City
Starter Pokemon:

So this is more of a "jump in" kind of RP, based on how you're handling characters? That's cool. Kinda refreshing too.

You can add me to the OP, Catman. Can't think of any reason why I wouldn't at least begin my application.

Harper 'Harp' Leon
Harp_zpskdcp4tbm.png

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Harpand_zps1f8zopqc.gif
Appearance: Harper stands at the tiny height of 5'2. Frequent wandering has allowed her to maintain a rather slender build, though due to a lack of much need to lift things or provide a great amount of strength in any aspect of her life, she lacks much muscle tone, and looks fairly fragile. Her teal hair is incredibly long, going past her waist, and is maintained by being constantly kept in a side braid. Her eyes are green, and always seem to be wide and awe struck by something or other. For clothing, she wears light weight clothes for easy travel; tank tops, skirts/shorts, running shoes, and an easy access satchel tied around her waist.

Personality: Growing up in a tiny town with very little outside influence has made her a bit sheltered, and likely easy to influence. A great deal of her personality stems from her environment: She is friendly because the people of her town know her, and are friendly in return. She is impulsive because her impulses have never gotten her into a bad situation. While she likes Pokémon, she has very little experience with them outside of her father's books, and her interaction's with her mother's Blissey. The world of Pokémon battling will be a new one for her, though, with all the firsthand experience she's about to gain, she should start getting the hang of it fairly soon.

History: Harp was born and raised in Cherrygrove City, where her mother is the resident nurse Joy, and her father is one of Professor Elm's aides. Due to their time consuming jobs, the family has rarely traveled, and despite living in Johto for her entire fifteen years, Harp has never even been passed route 30. While she frequently walks the trail between Cherrygrove and Newbark town, and travels up route 30 to visit Mr. Pokémon, she has used the ledges to her advantage, and encountered very few Pokémon.

This changed several months prior, when Harp's father was asked to accompany professor Elm to a conference held in the Kalos region. Thinking it would be good for his young daughter to see another region, Harp went along. It was there, in Ambrette town, where the young girl was offered a Pokémon egg by one of the town's scientists. The egg hatched shortly after returning home; a sight which filled Harp with a determination she had never felt before. With her new Pokémon partner, she intends to begin her Pokémon quest.

Hometown: Cherrygrove City, Johto

Name: Arden Daley

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Appearance: Arden stands five feet and seven inches in height. His lifestyle is not physically demanding, resulting in softness where he would much prefer to see hard, chiseled muscle. He generally likes to keep things clean and neat. His nails are short and kept dirt free. He washes his hands frequently. His clothes are normally clean and wrinkle-free, though not necessarily formal or business attire. He likes to stay clean shaven. His dark red hair is kept at medium length, the fringe stopping just short of being in his eyes. Between trims when it grows enough to be in the way he wears cloth headbands to keep it back. His eyes are green and almond shaped. His facial features are angular, yet adhering more closely to androgyny than masculinity. The fact that his shoulders aren't all that broad and his body hair is nearly nonexistent doesn't help. His skin is fair, partly due to his inactive lifestyle and partly due to genetics. Freckles liberally dust his nose, shoulders, and arms with a few more found in various places on his body.

Most often Arden wears relaxed fit jeans held up by a black cloth belt patterned with blue pokeballs and t-shirts. For the road he'll switch out black and white sneakers for hiking boots. In addition to a plain blue backpack with plenty of storage space he'll wear a black vest with numerous pockets on the outside and slots for pokeballs sewn into the inside.

Personality: Coming from a family with a strong background in healthcare, Arden was raised with respect and concern for others and follows those values closely. He genuinely cares about the struggles others experience and is involved in charity work often. Though he cares deeply for both humans and Pokemon, his focus is primarily Pokemon. He volunteers for an abandoned and abused Pokemon sanctuary in his hometown every week, helping to care for them at the sanctuary and working at events to find them homes. At first he took a strong stance against battling, believing it to be cruel and unnecessary with no example to the contrary since no one in his home battled. But after working with the owner of the sanctuary and seeing how much his Pokemon loved battling he realized it was not a form of abuse on its own; rather, a cruel person turned it into brutal fights and a loving trainer could make it a fun bonding experience. Now he follows competitive battling religiously.

Arden is personable and kind. He enjoys talking to other people and simply being around them. He is optimistic, always trying to make the best of every situation. However, it's much easier for him when he does it for the benefit of other people. On his own he can be anxious and insecure, at times drowning in the negativity and struggles of everyday life.

Insecurity in particular is Arden's major flaw. Though he isn't morbidly obese by any means he is a little fat, a fact that always lurks in the back of his mind. As he enjoys a delicious meal a malevolent voice whispers that he shouldn't be doing it, he shouldn't be eating so much, does he want to be fat forever? When he comes home from a day of interning or volunteering, exhausted and footsore, that same voice nags that he should be going out and running or working out or something, anything but putting his feet up after a hard day. When someone attractive flirts with him he always convinces himself he misread their signals. The insecurity doesn't just target his physical appearance, either. He often second guesses his decisions in the workplace and doesn't trust his own judgment. In a healthcare setting many decisions are spur of the moment, life or death, and that much pressure is just too much for him. His confidence needs serious building before he can even consider taking such an important career path.

The time Arden spends at the sanctuary is the best part of his day. He feels calm, centered, unconcerned about the things that gnaw on him. It's because of this that he so aches to take the culturally encouraged Pokemon journey. He hopes that being with them, depending on them and in turn being depended upon, will help him build his confidence and maybe even find himself.

History: Growing up in Goldenrod City, Arden was exposed to a variety of things as a young child. Trainers from all over the world came to visit the gym and try their luck at the casino (which of course he wasn't allowed inside). The developing transportation system meant people came and went all the time, bringing with them new stories and new experiences. His father worked at the hospital as a registered nurse, working long hours to care for sick and injured people. Weekends and holidays were not guaranteed and often he missed them, though he did his best to get time off for Arden's birthdays. His mother worked at the Pokemon Center as a doctor. The machines handled most maladies on their own. Exhaustion, minor cuts and bruises, paralysis, and minor poisoning and burns were healed in an instant. Unfortunately, that meant only the most severe cases went to her. She saw paralysis so severe the heart stopped, poison that festered in the internal organs, lost eyes, lost limbs, and sudden illnesses. Despite all that she never stopped loving her job. It was an important lesson for Arden; even when things seem grim, when you can't find the silver lining, have faith and never stop trying.

When Arden was ten he began volunteering at both the hospital and Center alternatively. He read to patients at the hospital and just spent time with them, most often the ones that didn't have family. At the Center he showed love and affection to the Pokemon that didn't have a trainer by their side, cleaned kennels and pens, and exercised Pokemon. He quickly discovered that he loved working at the Center. Most days he could be found there.

One case in particular changed his life. As he took out the trash he found a cardboard box by the dumpster behind the Center. He almost walked right past it, but the smallest of peeps caught his attention. He opened the box and found a litter of young Meowth, too small to be away from their mother, discarded like trash. He carried the box inside and after a quick examination his mother called the owner of Blue Fox Pokemon Sanctuary. The elderly man came and picked up the babies and after a long conversation Arden decided to volunteer there as well.

When he was old enough Arden's mother gave him more responsibility at the Center. He was allowed to administer medications and vaccinations, help with physical therapy, and witness surgeries. Now certain this was what he wanted to do, Arden applied to the same university his mother had attended. After weeks of waiting with fingers crossed a letter came to tell him he had been accepted. Ecstatic, he was able to attend classes at the local university and still put time in at the Center. His volunteer hours qualified him for scholarships and gave him experience that put him at the head of his classes. Unfortunately, he stood out too much. Now fifteen, his baby fat had not turned into wiry adolescent muscle like so many of his peers had. His grades were stellar, he lived at home with his parents instead of living in the dormitories, and he was fat; he was a beacon for cruelty. A few of his classmates teased him mercilessly when they weren't demanding to copy his answers on the homework. More than once he refused, and more than once he walked away with a limp and a black eye. After a while he stopped refusing.

One morning Arden was summoned to the dean's office. His grim faced professor stood behind the dean and one of his aggressors stood next to him. He was informed that his research paper had been copied almost word for word. When the dean asked if Arden had allowed others to copy his work he reluctantly told the truth. He was expelled immediately. When he went home and explained what had happened to his parents they were more concerned than angry, knowing he wouldn't have jeopardized his career for nothing. But Arden gave only the barest of excuses and retreated to his bedroom to grieve a lost opportunity.

For the next three years Arden continued volunteering at the sanctuary. His mother was able to get him a paid internship at the Center, so he at least wasn't without pocket money. But he was without motivation, without confidence. He did the same thing every day without deviation until one day he was sitting next to the owner of the sanctuary when a young trainer came by to look at the Pokemon and potentially add one to her team. Arden's immediate reaction was a vehement no; he had seen the damage battling could do to Pokemon, he had seen the cruelty people were capable of. But the old man smirked and shrugged, standing with the assistance of his gnarled cane. He agreed to let the girl choose a Pokemon, provided it was fit to battle, that it had the temperament, and that she could beat him. Arden was disgusted; all those years he had respected this man so fully, yet he would subject his Pokemon to that?

The battle was fierce, the old man's longtime companions giving their all for their master. Each time one of them had reached its limit he would call it back and the next Pokemon would jump into the fray with enthusiasm Arden didn't know they had. By the time the last of his Pokemon had admitted defeat the old man was standing a little straighter, grinning widely, his Pokemon all panting happily next to him. It was then that Arden had an epiphany. Battling wasn't inherently bad. Bad trainers made it bad. Looking at the happy Pokemon resting around their old master's feet, he realized Pokemon could and did love it. Once the girl had made friends with her new teammate and left he talked for hours with the old man about competitive battling. He learned that the old man had taken the gym challenge in three different regions when he was young, retiring only after a serious accident involving a wild Rapidash that left him nearly crippled. But his Pokemon still had the fighting spirit and enjoyed a good scrap from time to time. That day planted an idea in Arden's head that would need a few months to mature.

One afternoon when Arden was working at the Center a young man rushed in with a squirming bundle in his arms. He claimed to have found the screaming baby Pokemon abandoned in the forest outside Goldenrod with no one around to explain its presence, so far from its natural habitat. The sanctuary owner was called and he came to pick up the young Cubone. In the weeks that followed, every time Arden would go to the sanctuary the Cubone would toddle up to him and cling to his jeans. Before long Arden was desperately attached to it. As it grew stronger it became a bit more independent, but not so much that it didn't still seek out Arden's company and avoid all others.

The Cubone stoked the distant urge Arden had been battling into action. He asked to adopt the Cubone and bring it as he challenged the gym circuit. His longtime mentor and friend granted permission and congratulated him on becoming a real Pokemon trainer. For a few weeks more he took it upon himself to teach Arden the basics. Each day Arden and his new partner grew closer until one day the old man declared them ready. Arden went home and told his parents of his plan. With their blessing he set out to build a team, take the challenge, and find himself.

Garrett Brown

Age
16

Gender
Male

Home town
Mahogany Town

Physical Appearance
Garrett is a somewhat tall young boy at around 5'10, and although relatively solid looking, he is also a bit on the hefty/pudgy side. His hair is short and blonde, and he tends to wear a red cap backwards on most days, opting to take it off if it gets too hot. Many would consider him to have nice facial features, such as clear skin and rather nice blue eyes, and his teeth are a tad unusually white as well. His clothing consists of a black t-shirt with a picture of a Koffing skull and bones on it, and light brown cargo shorts for the bottoms. His shoes are white, and are more casual wear if anything, but they are comfortable enough to run in. He doesn't wear a belt for his Pokéballs, but instead a red backpack, where he stores most of his goodies, such as items and Pokémon. And lastly, to finish off his look, he wears a black, leather strap watch on his left hand, which actually doesn't work, but is instead a simple fashion statement.

Personality

Garrett tends to be cocky and a bit arrogant, often getting himself into situations that would result in people hating him or disliking him in general. In a sense, he is a bit of a jerk, and tends to attract or hang out with people of similar personality. He may not be the brightest bulb when it comes to book smarts, but he does know a lot about the outdoors as well as a bit of a handyman and secretly good with a yarn and a needle.

Although he can be nice once you get to know him, it becomes evident that he really doesn't mean harm when it comes to his jokes. He simply does it as a way to fool around or make himself laugh, although that may be the problem: He often doesn't realize how much his jokes actually affect someone, or how bad the teasing really is unless someone confronts him about it. In other words, he is a bit oblivious.

In terms of his Pokemon, he does care for them deeply, and has a soft spot for his Mareep, named Mari. She is essentially the family pet, and Garrett spent a lot of time playing with her, however she has little to no battle experience. At first he hesitated on bringing her along on his travels, however, his family decided if he were going to be travelling with a Pokemon, it should be Mari, since the two already share pretty good bond.

Brief History
Garrett doesn't have a particularly interesting history. He grew up in the town of Mahogany, in a small family being the only child. Being the only child, many people would expect he got everything he wanted, however, that was not the case. Although not poor, his family did have to cut corners when possible, and sometimes that meant Garrett wasn't able to have leisurely fun or go out and dine out. His father was a worker in the caves and mountains, often for mining or roadwork. His mother stayed at home, but ran her own alteration business of sorts, fixing up clothes or altering them for customers. The home business was slow, and his father's work was also harsh, sometimes working long hours or none at all depending on weather. When he was younger, Garrett picked up the habit of petty theft, mostly things such as Ragecandy bars or other sugary sweets. There wasn't much to do in his town, so him and his friends often went around creating their own fun, which would include 'pranking' people (aka being jerks), or more often than not sit around places and essentially just hanging out.

As he grew a bit older, he became a bit more arrogant, sometimes being referred to as the local bully, as he hung around with the typical neighbourhood ruffians. Although many would argue that he was old enough to help his parents out by possibly getting a job of his own, the boy could never really find a job that would suit him and would quit a total of 3 jobs before not working altogether. The first of these jobs was a simple clerk at the PokeMart, cleaning counters and stocking shelves, etc. The second of these jobs was babysitting, something which he absolutely hated, and his third job was doing simple gardening work. After quitting all three jobs, his parents debated on what they should do with their only child, and they decided it would be best for him to travel, maybe figure out some aspirations along the way. And thus, his journey had started, with his family's pet Pokémon Mari the Mareep by his side.

Spoiler:

Gordon Aranash

"I'm out to prove that I am not bad at life."

14 // Only Child // Male

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Personality: Gordon, when around people, seems shy to people. Gordon is very meticulous on how he acts and behave, as he does not want to give off an impression that he is bad at whatever he is doing or talking about. When talking to people, he tends to talk somewhat slow, but fluently, to be sure that the person he is talking to can clearly hear what he is saying.
However, that is around strangers. Around people he trusts and pokemon, he is a very cheerful person. You see him smiling alot and talking. Especially around his pokemon. He talks to them like a way to get things of his chest (which someimes he does do that). Gordon will also be more helpful if he is round people he knows. If around a group of strangers, he is less likely to help up someone who fell down than if he was around a trusted friend. He is also more likely to challenge someone to a battle when around friends. (Though he doesn't refuse if someone challenges him.)
History: Gordon was the only child in the Aranash family. They lived in Violet City. His dad was an archeologist for the nearby ruins, and his mom was a nurse at the human hospital in town. Their life was very good. Gordon went to school and made decent grades, his parents made money in their jobs, and everyone in the family got along together. Until one weekend.
Gordon's dad took Gordon to the ruins with him, and together they found a fossil. Gordon's dad told Gordon that they could go to Pewter City and revive the fossil so he could have a pokemon. So the two traveled there, and the guys at the Pewter Museum extracted the pokemon from the fossil, which was a Cranidos.
On the way back however, Gordon's dad revealed why he did what he did. Gordon's dad revealed that he felt Gordon was not good at anything. He was scrawny, not built for endurance, "sort of ugly", he did not know how to play any sports, and his grades were mediocore at best. There were some classes he was barely passing. He got him a pokemon because he felt pity towards him.
Of course, this hit Gordon hard. When his mom learned of this, he tried to cheer up Gordon as much as possible. However, she also said that since he did have a pokemon now, he could go out into the world, have some alone time where his dad wouldn't bother him. Gordon liked that idea, and accepted the offer, thinking of it as a way to prove he was good at things.
Rival: Bobby Vander. He will recieve a mini-SU later.

Hometown: Violet City
Starter Pokemon: Cranidos, male.
Moves: Headbutt, Leer, Crunch (Egg move)
Starting Area Suggestion: I don't care.

Here's my girl and her goblin:

EMBERLYN NOIRCEUR

"Out of all the places in Johto that I'd want to go… maybe... Blackthorn City? It seems like such a… regal place."

Age / Gender:
Seventeen, Female

Hometown:
Geosenge Town, Kalos

Personality:
-------Curious to the core, her fascination with the strange, grim and outright off-putting fuels her adventurous cravings. Growing up surrounded by the unimaginative and down-to-earth has more worn at her patience than the mannerisms of her peers have worn off of her. She tends to stay unaffected from any sort of negative attention as she instinctively follows the pace of her own imagination, thus she seems always at a distance to other people. Ember is not beyond mingling and companionship but, when all is said is done, she regularly retracts back into herself, so "open" is something she is not necessarily. Ember is a poor communicator as well. She is greatly impulse-driven, diving into situations or attempting solutions because it "feels" like a decent idea, and because of that finds it difficult to explain herself. Describing her as hotheaded because of this, however, is questionable. Emberlyn certainly possesses a fiery spirit but that is shrouded by a very cool, even exterior. She is not one to partake in contingencies and finds the act of doubting others comes unnaturally to her. Truly she is neutral regarding most of her her stances. She has few strong opinions. Of course, this all does not prevent her from turning into a raving conspirator regarding the quirks she owns a honest passion for.
-------She adores dark genres of media, gripping gothic stories and ruthless tales of psychological horror. She herself has never considered herself novelist material but she is an avid reader, as well as a huge scary movie nut. In her friend group, she was always the first to see the latest horror film, and thus promptly turned to in case anyone was curious if that year's 'Per Normal Activity' was worthwhile this time around.
-------Ember loves theorizing and speculating, questioning what is assumed to be the truth. This love of conspiracies inspired her to look into Pokemon research, though that interest was brief and has most recently been put on a brief hiatus.
-------She is a night owl who greatly prefers the dark over getting sun in her eyes. Her favorite type is the Ghost type for their perturbing, amorphous forms, a visage for their actual playful, mischievous natures. If she had to choose a least favorite type, it would likely be Rock types, as they've always come across as rather dull to her.
-------Ember inwardly feels more comfortable around children than people her age and has considered becoming a teacher or daycare worker once or twice. She appreciates their unchained creativity.
She likes cereal and hates mayonnaise. Steven Stone is her idol. Her least favorite trait a person can possess is magniloquence.

History:
-------The second child of a science-minded couple, a geologist from Ambrette and a paleontologist from Dewford, born and raised in the stone-speckled settlement of Geosenge. Her parents worked inconsistently, sometimes practically free, other times swamped with work. Emberlyn regularly became a spectator to their work either way and even on her free time frequented Reflection Cave, the location that both parents' field work majorly revolved around. She thought the atmosphere to be inexplicably calming, though she never strayed to far in fear of what hostile creatures might have laid beyond.
-------A devotion to reading and seemingly little else had her labeled an odd child subconsciously by her peers at around eight or nine. This title of "introvert" she adopted throughout the rest of her childhood for the smaller number of friends her age never thoroughly bothered her. The Noirceurs were, of course, always available in one way or the other to keep her occupied when she wasn't nose-deep in the bridge of some chapter book or wandering about outside. They were seeing evidence of her intelligent nature and, seeing the potential of yet another scientist in the family, would flood her with information on rocks and fossils and truly anything they personally wanted to gush about. Emberlyn would eventually give in to their passions upon graduation of her primary level of education. She became an avid rock collector.
-------It was around thirteen that she became worrying her mother particularly. An interest in urban Kalosian fashion soon sprouted into a complete transformation of her identity with beanie hats with buttons, gradient hair dye and piercings galore. This and her "quirks", as her mother put it, seemed to be distracting her from the remainder of her schooling (as the majority of the Kalos region required ten-year-olds to continue through two to three years of Trainer's Academy for necessary information on the world of Pokemon). This was easily disproved as Ember still proved a top-notch student though, even after graduation, a license was not a grand priority of her's. She was still deciding what path she wanted to take, anyway.
-------It was finalized months before her first encounter with Kelly H. that it would be Pokemon-oriented. Becoming a researcher seemed the most intriguing and logical at the time but one thing led to another and eventually Ember ended up passing on a mentorship program with the Kalosian Pokemon Professor. A tantalizing invitation made by the Johto region reached Geosenge one day, offering Trainer's licenses free of charge to late academy graduates with stellar grades. Emberlyn was fortunate enough to fit the part and the idea of a journey and the promise of freedom and adventure made her immediately jump at the license. Originally, she was going to take her father's Amaura along with her but a faithful encounter in the cave of her youth interrupted these plans. A baby Sableye was found amongst samples collected by her mother's research team when backs were turned. Fortunately, the Darkness Pokemon was debilitated before any harm could be done, though there seemed to be one particular stone that it refused to let go of. Either way, the creature was deemed harmless after spending a week at the Noirceur's, though it of course was not released back into the wild as planned. It was quite easy for Ember to find her first ever Pokemon partner. The two hit it off after a few days and that was that.
-------With the newly-named Kelly registered to her name, Emberlyn is now headed off to the Johto region with all her necessities, leaving behind her close friends and parents for a very belated journey. What she intends on doing exactly she isn't quite sure, though her father greatly encourages taking the League Challenge. In the end, however, it's her decision, as it's finally her time!

Name: Rowan "Ro" Carson

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Appearance: Rowan stands at 5'2 feet tall, though she manages to make herself look taller with the three inch black boots that she always wears. Her skin is tan, almost golden, and it compliments her pale blonde hair, which reaches down to her waist. Her eyes are blue-gray in color, and she has a small scar underneath the right one. She dresses mainly in dark colors, and her normal attire consists of a black crop top paired with a black skirt with gray leggings and her signature boots.

Personality: Rowan is a loner at heart, and tends to avoid people as much as possible. As far as she's concerned, other people aren't worth her time. She's often lost in thought, and tends to space out a lot. She tries her best not to show emotion, and is mostly seen with an impassive expression on her face, though she gets angry if she's ignored. Underneath it all, however, she's just looking for someone that she can trust.

History: Rowan was the youngest child in her family, and often found herself being left to be taken care of by her aunt since her parents were often busy with their work as Pokemon Rangers. Rowan looked up to her older siblings, and spent most of her time trying to impress them, only to be ignored. She began to isolate herself from them, and spent most of her time by herself. She was often bossed around by her older sister Rebecca, who considered herself the boss since their parents weren't around, and was often forgotten about by her twin brother Ross.

Rebecca left for her journey shortly after their parents retired from being Rangers, and all the attention fell on Ross, who was more outgoing than his younger sister. Rowan spent her time exploring the nearby routes, which is how she met her Phanpy. She found the elephant Pokemon alone, seemingly abandoned by its family, and took it home to nurse it back to health. She felt a bond with the Pokemon, and spent a majority of her time alone with it. She decided to leave for leave for Johto to follow Rebecca, and hopefully prove that she can be even better than her sister.
