Best friends? I'd say they had a more varying definition. They are what you make them, really. Or at least I've seen people treat the word pair differently.

Oh, and I like making friends like that, but I'm a bit timid to approach them. Even here. xD

I've met my friends all number of ways. Usually we talk first though. I don't believe I've ever been one to send out random requests.

I'm actually horrifically shy on the internet until I've been on the site for a while, just like in real life. I take it you're shy in real life too from that then.
