With the creation of the Real World's Astanoff-Berry Computer, an artificial lifeform known as Yggdrasil, the Master Computer, formed and with it, the foundations to a realm called the Digital World. The artificial entity evolved as the real world's computer age progressed, giving it the ability to gain knowledge and power with which it used to shape and form the Digital World and eventually the data which would be used for its first inhabitants. The rate at which the World formed was astounding. In an attempt to evolve it further, Yggdrasil subjected it to a time-shift. Days in the new world were mere minutes compared to that of the Real World and by the time the computer age reached what it has today, the Digital World had seemingly finished in its development.

The seventy years of real-time translated to hundreds of thousands of digital cycles. In that time, the Digital World changed in a manner akin to that of Earth. Its continents shifted, its islands and mountains were created and destroyed. Within an even shorter amount of time, Yggdrasil designed and created five realms based upon the cardinal directions of the world and its center. In hopes to give each realm strength and protection, the Sovereigns, a group of five digital lifeforms, were created. From there on, Yggdrasil, with help from the Sovereigns, created enough inhabitants to support the Digital World.

Yggdrasil's influence slowly grew minimal as it watched its new world. Before long, the data of the world began changing on its own and new lifeforms, now known as Digimon, formed without a creator. Yggdrasil knew its work was almost finished, so in its final effort to insure that the world would be successful, it created another race of lifeform whom he simply named the Guardians. These beings, human in appearance and seemingly all-knowing, would be the protectors of the world when it was in need.

***

In 2014, nearly seventy human years later, the Digital World parallels the Real World in many aspects and both are at the height of their prosperity. That is, of course, until something upset the balance. Within a matter of months in the Real World, the world of the Digital Monsters was turned upside down. The Digital World and the Digimon who resided in it quickly began to change, seemingly as if their data was rewritten. Digimon from the Dark Area began to change. Often considered evil by the other Digimon, they started to ally with those of the outer areas. For awhile, the Digital World lived in peace, but even it couldn't last forever. Months later (days in the Real World), things changed once again, and this time, for the worse. Well known Digimon such as the Royal Knights and even the Olympos XII began changing, doing things that were completely opposite of what was expected, just as the Evil Digimon had before them. The World was literally upside down.

The Guardians, the only beings seemingly untouched by what was happening, had no idea how to solve the problem. No matter how hard they scoured the Digital World, the source could not be found. It could have came from anywhere, even the Human World. It seemed that they had no power to stop the events that were happening, at least, not until they found one thing that the great Yggdrasil had left behind. A prophecy that would change the the fate of both Worlds.

As the seeds of change bloom,
an evil's venom grows stronger.
In time our lands will cripple,
our good will fall ill to its will,
and peace will be no more.
But with a simple call ,
great warriors that can traverse the worlds will come
and peace will be restored.

The Story So Far

Season 1: Digital World, Here We Go!

Arc 1: Digital Access... GRANTED
Theme Song: Here We Go - Jason Gochin
Spoiler:
Closing Song: ????

Mechanics

You are a Digidestined, a human being chosen by fate to work with their own Digimon partner in order to save both worlds from the forces that attempt to destroy them. Using various supports, whether from each other or elsewhere, the Digidestined will be able to overcome any challenge they face.

Given as a symbol of the Digidestined, the Digivices are a set of devices used for various purposes. The D-Touch is this universe's iteration of the Digivice named for its touch interface. Generally placed around the left wrist of a Digidestined, the device resembles a sleek, futuristic watch with the functions of a present day cell phone as well as the capabilities needed for use in the Digital World.

First off, it is used as a storage area of sorts due to its ability to hold various items that you will use during your quest. It also acts as a way to heal your Digimon via the storage option. It also includes a map of the Digital World, an encyclopedia that is added to whenever a new Digimon is met, as well as a button solely used for Digivolution.

For the most part, Digivolution is much like that of the first two Digimon series' with some added mechanics from the third series. The basic Digivolution takes a Digimon up one level and Warp Digivolution typically skips a level or two. Any Digivolution past the Champion level requires an insignia in order to work.

An insignia is a physical embodiment of a DigiDestined and their most pronounced personality trait, i.e. kindness, courage, etc. It is ultimately a focal point for a DigiDestined to focus their powers, proving as a catalyst for the biggest of Digivolutions. They have various other powers that will be introduced later.

Episode 1: The Day It All Changed
Theme: Here We Go - Jason Gochin
Wednesday, December 31st, 2014

NewYorkCity_zpsf06cc756.png
You wake up to a day not too different from any other in the wintry New York City. Well, for the most part. Fresh snow is on the ground and the city is already buzzing with excitement. Everywhere, people are decorating the buildings and streets with various colors. That's when you realize that it's New Year's Eve. You immediately prepare to get ready, but that's when everything finally changes.

In order to complete this episode, the characters must do the following:

1.) Receive your Digieggs and Digivices! This odd event happens around the time that you begin to get ready for the day. It is likely that the two items will come through an electronic portal, something like a television or computer monitor! This will happen two two beams of light, one of which will manifest the Digiegg, while another (which will likely hit your phone) will become the Digivice. Once you touch the Digivice, it will immediately attach itself to your arm.

2.) Have your Digimon hatch and then digivolve from the Baby Stage to their Rookie form! This can be done in as many posts as needed! Just be sure not to include too much or too little in a single post.

3.) Once your Digimon is a Rookie, they will sense other Digimon in Central Park! Make your way there ASAP!

Optional.) Meet some of the other Digidestined before reaching Central Park! It's an easy way to get some interaction going on early in the RP, just make sure both parties are aware of the meeting beforehand.

Wellington Hotel, Manhattan, New York

Episode One: The Day It All Changed (Part One)
Opening Theme: 我有我的YOUNG (I have my YOUNG) - Fahrenheit

Tuesday December 30th, 2014

It was dark outside when the plane finally touched down in Newark International Airport. For hours Julie had been flying economy class with the rest of her university soccer team including coach and manager. From Taipei they had caught a local flight to Beijing, and then from Beijing they headed to New York stopping once in Abu Dhabi for a couple of nights before catching a connecting flight. It had been a long, arduous journey across half the globe stuck in the aeroplane; however it made the final landing that much sweeter. Julie stretched her arms, arching her back in the process as she felt the wheels collide with the tarmac and jolt the plane. She had tried to get as much sleep as possible but the seats provided little comfort and room to properly sleep. Julie enviously eyed the sleeping figure of Jing resting in the seat next to her. The girl looked as if she had no trouble sleeping up against the window. On Julie's other side their teammate sweated profusely; clutching the armrests tightly as her fingernails dug into the soft fabric.

"Thank you for flying Emirates Airlines. Please make sure your tray tables are folded away and our seat is in its upright position…" The flight attendant rattled off the series of post-flight advice firstly in English followed by Standard Arabic and finally Mandarin. Understanding little of the first two languages, Julie bit her thumb waiting for the Chinese to come on overhead.

"Wake up," Julie spoke in Mandarin as she poked the sleeping Jing, "Wake up, Jing." She continued to do so until the girl swiped Julie's hand away and yawned as she sat up.

"Where are we?" Jing asked wiping her eyes with the sleeve of her jacket, "Did we arrive in America yet?"

"No, we're still in Abu Dhabi," Julie answered sarcastically. "Of course we're in America, let's go catch up with the others." Julie pushed herself up from the seat and stood in the isle before grabbing both her and Jing's bags from the storage above their head. At first she brought down Jing's carry-on bag, tossing it at her before taking down her own. Behind her a grumpy western man pushed past, grumbling something in English that she could not hear nor understand.

With Jing up from her seat, the two proceeded down the aisle past the rows of empty seats that had once been filled with people. As they exited out the front door a kind looking White woman stood by the door, bidding farewell to everyone who stepped off. When it was Julie and Jing's turn the lady smiled at them, speaking something in presumably English. Not knowing what to say or what to do, Julie quickly nodded at the woman before pressing on across the sky bridge. From there the two of then followed the signs with an array of languages written on them to the customs departure lounge where the rest of their team stood.

"We will be going through customs in a separate line as a group. After that you will need to claim your bags from the baggage carousel and proceed through bag check." Their manager spoke to them all while handing out cards that he had filled out beforehand, "give these to the men at the counter and they will put your bag through a scanning machine. We will all gather back outside." Without any questions their manager and coach went ahead to talk the team through customs one at a time.

Once through the gate Julie followed the rest of her teammates and other passengers along a hallway until it opened up to a large conveyor belt carrying various people's luggage. She kept an eye out for her own bag as she watched every suitcase pass before her. Next to her a man talked rapidly in some language on the phone while a presumably American couple stood on her other side kissing each other in public. Julie hid her face and turned the other way to give them privacy, hoping that she didn't have to see too much of it on her trip here.

"I heard Bairen like kissing and other things in public." Jing laughed as she stood next to Julie, poking her with her elbow.

Julie shivered, she didn't like public displays of affection, "They talk so fast, right? It's like they're in such a hurry." Julie smiled at Jing who giggled.

"And so loud!" The two continued to talk about the funny ways in which Westerners acted, out of them both Jing was the most racist towards them. Not that she disliked them, but she knew a lot of jokes about Westerners that weren't overly nice.

Julie cried out in surprise as her bag finally came around the bend in the conveyor belt. When it passed in front of her she pushed past two Westerners standing right in front of the conveyor belt to grab it. They both glared at her as she turned around to take her bag to the next checkpoint, the taller man even saying something that Julie thought was no doubt rude. Leaving Jing to her own devices, Julie moved into the line of congregating people that moved slowly through the screening area. When she finally arrived at the desk she handed the piece of paper to the man that her manager had given her. She was taken aback when he asked her a question in English but simply nodded hoping to get through the gate quickly.

As she moved through the screening area, a tall and imposing woman motioned for her to go over to her before explaining something, again in English. Julie could feel her heart racing; there was only so much she could get away with by nodding. Her parents had even given her an electronic dictionary and travel guide before she left, but both were in her suitcase which was currently being scanned. The woman held out each of Julie's arm as she waved a metal detector across the front, back and sides of Julie's body. When she was finished the lady pointed to a man who was holding her suitcase, ready for Julie to pick up. Breathing a sigh of relief, Julie took her bag from the nice man and moved on through a set of doors to her soccer group standing beyond.

From the airport they took a bus to an island called "Manhattan" where their hotel was situated. It took them a while to get there, giving Julie some time to rest her eyes while the bus jolted down the streets. Once at the hotel, their manager had to check them in and Julie was just wishing they could get into their hotel rooms and fall asleep in a bed. They had to swap the key cards to their room around a bit, but finally Jing and Julie managed to get a room together. Not even bothering to turn on the lights or fight over which bed was whose, the two girls collapsed on the beds and promptly fell asleep.

Wednesday December 31st, 2014

Sunlight was streaming through the window as Jing launched herself onto Julie's bed. Through groggy eyes she could see that Jing was all geared up for an early morning jog that they often went on back in Taiwan. She wasn't quite sure why Jing would be so eager to get up this morning, but then again she had slept more on the plane than Julie had.

"Get up, Julie, I saw a park from the window!"

"There are parks in Taiwan, how is this one different?" Julie was grumpy that Jing had woken her up, but even if she tired, she would find it difficult to fall back asleep.

"This one is in America! Get up! Get dressed! Let's go!" Jing pretty much ordered Julie through her excitement.

Groggily, Julie agreed. Rolling out of bed, she made her way over to the suitcase she had dumbed opposite her bed. Rifling through the clothes and items, she quickly found her running shoes and clothes and retired to the bathroom to put them on. A minute later and she was heading out the door with Jing, wrapping her Samsung Gear 2 Neo around her right wrist as a last addition. Julie happily let Jing lead the way out of the hotel and down the street, jogging towards the park in the distance. This way if they got lost, Julie could easily blame Jing for losing them. As they started their jog, Julie shivered a bit as the winter air nipped at her exposed skin, but once they were warmed up she started enjoying the cold breeze.

"That Bairen is handsome, right?" Jing nodded to a tall, muscular guy who ran past them as they jogged in the opposing direction.

"You think every Bairen is handsome, did you come to American just to look for a boyfriend?" Julie smiled as she started jogging faster, pulling ahead of Jing and forcing her to up her pace. In the cold air Julie found it hard to breathe, drawing in smaller and sharper breaths than she would usually take. Then again, that was the price to pay when you ran around outside in the winter.

Jing caught up, slightly more out of breath, "Why not? I'm not here just to play Soccer…" Knowing that she was the faster of the two, Jing started sprinting forward, almost losing Julie in Central Park.

A few minutes later and the two girls had returned to their hotel rooms sweating from head to toe and out of breath. Jing called the first shower leaving Julie to wait it out. She turned on the TV to some random channel where a bunch of ladies sat on a stage talking. Despite not understanding a word of it, Julie found it interesting to watch as if differed vastly to the television over in Taiwan. She was almost enjoying it when the lights started to flicker. At first she thought it was just bad wiring in the hotel until the television in front of her began flickering from channel to channel and finally to static.

Next to her the alarm clock started switching times erratically and changing radio channels and she even heard Jing yell out in the shower. Over in the kitchen the microwave, kettle and even toaster flicked on and begun to join in on the haywire madness. Whatever was going on had Julie freaked, and as she buried her face in her legs as she brought them up against her body. When the light flew from the TV and struck her wrist, she yelped and tried to remove the light that had encapsulated her Gear 2 but to no avail.

Everything around her was now pitch black leaving only the static on the TV and the bizarre light stemming from it as sources. She watched the light fly back to the television but not before it spat out an oversized egg, sending it drifting from the TV down onto the foot of Julie's bed. When she went to touch the egg she noticed the glowing device on her wrist was no longer the Gear 2 her parents had brought her for her birthday. What she was looking at was some orange and purple device similar to her Gear 2 but slightly thicker and with a larger screen. It puzzled her how exactly the TV had managed to not only change her Gear 2 but also spit out an oversized chicken egg.

As the lights flickered back on, everything seemed to return to normal as if it never happened. Jing came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel but still wet, "What just happened? My shower went hot and cold then everything went…black…" Jing lost her train of thought as she noticed the egg sitting on the foot of Julie's bed.

"It came out of the TV!" Julie exclaimed, "I didn't know American TVs could do that!"

Rachel Winters - Manhattan, New York - Hopewell Apartments - 12/31/2014
"Clarence! Clarence! Help me, Clarence! Get me back! Get me back, I don't care what happens to me! Get me back to my wife and kids! Help me Clarence, please! Please! I wanna live again. I wanna live again. Please, God, let me live again."

Rachel stared at the television, the girl not really paying much attention to the movie that was actually playing on the screen. She really was not too sure why she even had the thing on to begin with. Christmas had come and past several days ago, so the annual coming of the spirit of the season was starting to leave her heart, as it most likely was most of the people in Manhattan at this point. There were still a few channels getting those last minute specials ran before they would disappear for another year, though in this movie's defense she guessed it could sort of count as a New Year's movie too.

With a small sigh, Rachel eventually decided she had had enough of blankly staring at the television for one day and turned the electronic off. It was proving to be a rather boring day for her so far. The pink-haired girl had been lacking the inspiration to write anything meaningful for days now, and there really was not anyone she could interact with in her apartment. Both her mother and father had decided to take a small getaway after Christmas and while they had both offered her the chance to come along with them, the teenager figured that the two could use some alone time. Of course, this gave Rachel the entire apartment for herself. Many teenagers would probably use this opportunity to have some sort of wild party, especially those who would be home alone on New Year's Eve. None of that was really ever a concern for Rachel, though. Even if she believed in all the hoopla of New Year's Eve, the pink-haired girl doubted that throwing a wild and happening party would prove to be very beneficial for her. She never really considered herself popular enough to warrant a bunch of guests coming to a party she threw, much less being invited to one anyone else would throw.

Rachel was suddenly snapped out of her thoughts by the sound of her stomach growling. She smiled lightly, realizing that she had yet to eat breakfast this morning. The pink-haired girl made her way towards the kitchen of the apartment, deciding that some toast and strawberry jam sounded awfully good right now. Not wasting a further moment, Rachel placed two slices of bread in the toaster and then got some strawberry jam from the refrigerator. As the slices of bread began to toast, Rachel decided to listen to some music from her MP3 player.

"With any luck, maybe I can finally start stirring up some inspiration for a new story," the pink-haired girl thought. She placed the ear buds into their proper place and the sound of some hard rock music began to blare into her ears. "Let's see... Maybe a story about something... mythical... Like a dragon or something. But has that been done too much? When you think fantasy, dragons just seem to go hand in hand with them. Maybe there's another angle to approach... I know, maybe if I made the main character a goblin..."

As Rachel racked her brain for ideas, the girl noticed that the music coming from her MP3 player started to sound strange. A static-like noise began to fill in the background, making the music a bit difficult to make out. One might think that perhaps Rachel simply had downloaded a bad cut of a song or something of the sort, however the teenager knew for a fact that this track was of very high quality. She did not have long to dwell on the quality of her music, though. A strong, smokey smell began to fill the air. Rachel quickly looked up at the toaster, her eyes widening at the smoke that was just pouring from the appliance. Rachel reached out, trying to pull the lever on the toaster to get the now-burning bread out of it, when all of a sudden the lights in kitchen began to flicker and buzz.

"W-What in the world is going on...?" Rachel wondered, slowly backing away from the toaster.

Her attention was suddenly grabbed by the sound of the television turning back on. Rather than playing the movie that had been on the television however, the screen was just displaying static... rather loud static at that. The lamps in the den began to flicker much like that of those in the kitchen, and the television began to let out a loud, screeching sound. The whole situation reminded Rachel of something ripped right out of some horror story. The teenager's eyes went wide as she noticed a bright light suddenly blast out from the screen of the television. In particular, a beam of the light shot straight towards her MP3 player, bathing the device in a strange, radiant glow. Rachel closed her eyes for a moment, unable to keep them open due to the intensity of the light.

The pink-haired teen was not sure just how much time passed, but slowly everything seemed to come to a stop. The lights all shut off in the apartment, as did the television. The now scorched toast popped up out of the toaster, which caused Rachel to slowly open her eyes and take a look around her.

The first thing she noticed was that her MP3 player... was different. The device was still the same sleek colors of silver and light blue, however what she held in her hands was certainly not an MP3 player. In fact, Rachel was not quite sure just what in the world it was supposed to be. Rachel would gladly admit that she was not the most technologically savvy world, but she was fairly sure that no one would know what this... thing was supposed to be.

"This thing just... came out of the tv...?" Rachel wondered. "How is that... how can that even happen?"

She cautiously made her way back into the den and to the television. Slowly, Rachel's hand reached out and began to run along the screen of it, but the screen was solid... not showing any signs of being able to shoot anything out of it. The teenager quickly reached down and pressed the power button of the television, but rather than the static and light, the screen was showing a commercial, as if nothing had ever happened. Needless to say, this was quite perplexing at this point. Rachel reached down and turned the television back off, running a hand through her pink hair in confusion. The teenager turned around, glancing at the television one final time, before noticing yet another new addition to the apartment... a strange, large, pink and white stripped egg sitting on the couch.

"How... what..." Rachel stammered trying to find some sort of question to ask about this whole thing. However the more she thought about it, the more her head began to ache over it all. Eventually, Rachel sighed in frustration, rubbing her forehead gently. "I think I need a shower or something..."

TABARI "tate" SALEH
Arc 1: Digital Access... Granted!
Episode 1: The Day It All Changed - Part 1
Wednesday, December 31st, 2014

-----------------------------------------------------
"So, I'll be back in the afternoon and we can go out to that nice restaurant for dinner. The one we went to last time? And then we can go see the New Years celebrations, maybe in Times Square if we make it in time. I made a reservation for the restaurant seven, so make sure you're showered and dressed for when I get back. And dressed nicely, Tabari!"

"Mmhm." Tabari nodded twice, not actually paying attention at all. Instead his focus was directed at his phone, texting one of his friends back in Australia. Despite how much Tabari didn't really want to be in New York right now, his conversation with 'Dave' on the other line was how cool it was to be here and all the New Years parties he was going to go to and all the girls he was going to hook up with. He wasn't sure if he was lying yet or not, but he definitely did not want to be here. The weather was absurdly cold right now, snow littering the ground outside (he'd come from a much warmer country to boot) and the air was crisp and tasted like ass.

"You could go to the shops or something, check out the decorations? Maybe buy something respectable. I bet you didn't even pack anything with you, did you Tabari?" His mother continued, still speaking in Arabic, walking past the TV and kissing Aisha on the forehead as she passed.

dude!!!!!!! waht are the yank girls like? they all look like hannah montana? or like that girl from that tv show coz they all pretty hot

already been promised like 5 gobbies man its pretty sick youre missing out

haha u piece of sh*t mad ****! that is mad as where are mine?

ill brin you back presents. the good kind. unless you want bottle openers

if u lyin u dead i swear to god ill kill you in ur sleep

"Yep." Tabari refused to speak the language, sticking with English. He didn't bother looking up at her.

"And please, spend time with your father." She stopped at him, frowning at him and his posture in the chair. He was slumped down to the bottom of the chair, his legs stretched out with Aisha using his feet as a back rest.

"Sure."

"Tabari." She stood above him, hands on her hips. Tabari made a face and looked up at her.

"What?"

"Spend time with your family." She bent down and kissed him on the head and turned towards the door. She gave her husband a kiss before she waved good bye and left the hotel.

"Yeah, whatever." Tabari groaned, shoving his phone into his pocket and switching his attention to whatever was on the screen. Nickelodeon or Disney or something. He only had to watch it for roughly five seconds to determine it was all complete crap and not as good as he remembered it to be. What was with all these boring TV shows? What happened to cartoons? At least they were a little bit funny. Did Spongebob even exist anymore? "Why are you watching this?" Aisha turned around to her brother, shrugging.

"There's not a lot on."

"You got that right."

"Well, we should probably head off as well." Their father got up from the bed he had been lying on, stifling a yawn. Aisha jumped up and turned off the TV immediately, zipping to her father's side, her winter coat already in her hand with her bag at her side. "Are you coming as well?"

Tabari raised his eyebrows, a little disappointed the TV had been turned off without his permission. "Where are you going?"

"Central Park." Aisha answered, slipping her shoes on. Tabari almost laughed.

"Pass."

"What? C'mon Tate, it'll be fun!"

"And cold as hell. Paaaaaaaaass."

"But mum said you had to hang out with us." She pouted. Their father stood silent beside her, knowing any and all attempts to sway Tabari were pointless. Aisha always had a better chance to get him to do anything, if any chance at all.

"Not to Central Park." He scoffed, glancing to his left and right for the TV remote. "Text me when you're gonna do something that's actually fun."

"We'll be back after lunch. Will you be here?" His father spoke, pulling on his own coat and handing Aisha hers.

"Dunno."

"Well just don't... get into trouble." His face looked weary, as if he knew that Tabari was going to do something that would get him into trouble anyways. It didn't matter what country they were in, Tabari had an awful habit of having bad ideas and calling them fun. When they had been in New York last year, Tabari had found himself with some fireworks and had let them off one night when they were visiting the suburbs. And with all the people about for the New Years celebrations, the only thing he could count on was Tabari getting into trouble.

"Sure." The tone wasn't reassuring at all.

With a few more goodbyes, they left Tabari alone to his own devices, still searching for the TV remote. He did find it under a few cushions and turned the TV back on, switching the channel to something a little less crap. MTV? Shit. HBO? Eh, no boobies. The History Channel seemed like a better choice than anything right now. Before he could even find anything interesting, the TV started changing channels on its own, followed by a high pitched scream coming from the remote in his hands. He quickly threw it across the room, the lights following suit with the weirdness and flickering on and off.

When the fan above his head began spinning on its own, Tabari leapt up from his chair, moving to the door and standing as far away from the electronics as he could. He could hear the hair dryer his mother left plugged in in the bathroom wheezing loudly and the microwave turning on and off. When the alarm clock started to go off was when Tabari had had it.

"For God's sake, it is too early for this kind of shit." He popped his head outside the door, shouting down the hall. "Is this some kind of joke?" He was met with a few confused looks of people leaving their rooms and a worried cleaner, Tabari eyeing them off one by one.

The noise suddenly stopped, the TV the only thing left on, switching slowly from channel to channel. Cartoons, to movies, to some guy laughing then to a glowing blue and purple screen. Tabari cautiously left his safe spot near the door, closing it behind him and eyeing the TV remote on the floor. He picked it up and tried to turn the TV off at different angles, with no avail. The TV's only response was some kind of gurgling noise, followed by doing something TVs shouldn't be doing for the next 20 years - spitting out a physical object. Tabari swayed, making sure it wasn't just a trick of the light and that it was an actual round object making its way into his hotel room. He watched it flop onto the carpeted floor, rolling about until it came to a stop.

It looked smooth, and was a light brown and pink. He took a step forward to properly inspect it before the phone in his hand burned red hot, his hand jerking and dropping it almost instantly. He went to catch it as it dropped but he didn't see or hear the thud it made, his wrist now toting a new watch which he definitely did not remember putting on this morning. This was some top quality Willy Wonka bullshit going on right now.

"Alright... this is new."

Freddy - Wednesday, December 31st

He was never sure of much in his life, but currently, he was absolutely convinced of two things.

The first was that he was awake. He had just hit his pinkie toe against the bedside table and it hurt so much that he wanted to scream out a load of obscenities that really didn't usually come out of his mouth. But something else hindered him, namely the second thing.

The second thing was that eggs usually don't emerge slowly, crackling with sparks and shining with electronic light, through laptop screens. Not through any kind of screens, as far as he knew. Especially not large eggs like this; he could hold it with two hands but not with one without careful effort.

The egg sat still on the rugged mat on the floor now, between the bed and the desk. The guest room had fallen extremely quiet, as if any sounds from outside of it had suddenly been blocked. Freddy bit his lip to suppress the groan of pain that still wanted out, as he carefully crouched down and crept towards the egg. The egg shaped thing.

It was of a blueish color, with white speckles. No visible cracks. Gingerly, Freddy stretched out a hand and touched. Slightly warm.

"Okay, this is too odd."

He was alone in the big apartment for the day. His parents and grandparents had gone out to see the city but he had insisted on staying here, alone. Of course not completely alone - he had his grandparents' dog Charles, an old, dumb bulldog, to keep him company. But currently Charles was probably sleeping. And Freddy's throbbing toe kept reminding the boy of the fact that he probably was not.

He grabbed the egg and held it in his arms. It really looked like an egg, and felt like one too when he tapped the smooth surface. But how could that even be possible? He had been lying on his bed, chatting away with a school friend on his iPhone 5, when both it and his laptop had suddenly started buzzing and glitching out. The digital alarm clock on his bedside table had started ringing, and all of a sudden the iPhone had started shining and Freddy had jumped up and dropped it in the process. Hitting his toe and seeing the egg come out from the computer screen had made him forget about it for a while.

Now he turned around to look for the small device again. He didn't find it. Instead, he found another device lying on the rug next to where he was sitting. It was green and white, sort of, perhaps slightly smaller than his phone had been. Where did it come from?

Still holding an egg with his right arm, he reached to pick the item up with his left. To his surprise, the device started whirring and shining again as soon as he nudged it, and before he knew it, it had wrapped itself around his arm like a wrist watch. He didn't flinch, but he sure gaped for a few moments.

"Okay," he breathed. After the egg-coming-through-the-screen episode, he felt like nothing could really come across as unbelievable again in his eyes. "Okay. New watch. Phone. Thing. Okay."

Regardless of electronic devices, the first question now was: what on earth should he do about this egg?

Wellington Hotel, Manhattan, New York

Episode One: The Day It All Changed (Part Two)

Wednesday December 31st, 2014

"That's untrue, idiot. How can an egg come from the TV?" Jing edged past the egg sitting precariously on the foot of Julie's bed and over to her suitcase before putting a fresh pair of clothes on.

"When the power went out, the TV glowed and then the egg appeared!" Julie exclaimed still a little shocked after the sudden appearance of the egg. Countless scenarios ran through her head of how the egg could have come to be in the room, but none of them were anywhere near possible without some sort of divine intervention.

Jing simply laughed at Julie as she pulled a top over her head and sliding her arms through to let it fall down the rest of her chest and abdomen. "You should stop reading that Atlantis book, it's making you crazy." Jing then stepped into a pair of navy blue jeans before continuing, "Just tell me where you found it or who came and gave it to you."

Sitting on her bed eyeing the orange-striped egg carefully, Julie tried to think up a lie to tell Jing to make her happy. No matter how much she tried to think of one however, the image of the egg sliding out from the TV in that golden light stayed fresh in her mind. "Watch the egg, I will have a shower." Slowly, as not to disturb the egg's position, Julie pushed herself up off the bed from her kneeling position. Grabbing a fresh towel from the cupboard below the television, she ignored the egg and proceeded to the bathroom.

With the hot water running over her body removing the sweat, Julie was beginning to feel that sense of cleanliness she enjoyed. During soccer games she wasn't adverse to getting sweaty and dirty while playing, but the idea of staying in that state for a prolonged time outside of field made her uncomfortable. For a couple of moments she just stood there, letting the water cascade over her body. The last time she had taken a shower had been back in Abu Dhabi the morning of their flight to America. Aside from the occasional trips to China and Japan, Julie hadn't really been outside of Asia. When first arriving in Abu Dhabi, she was a bit hesitant and nervous to get off the plane, not knowing what to expect. Aside from people mainly speaking English and Arabic around the airport, it just reminded her of a hotter and more arid version of Taiwan. For the entire plane ride she had built up this preconception about what it was like only to find it even more beautiful. She had felt a bit nervous about being outside of Asia, yet after a couple of hours she was fine. She had emailed her parents before leaving Abu Dhabi and thought she better do so tonight to let them know she was alright in America.

As she ran her fingers through her dark hair, Julie felt something scratch across her scalp. Opening her eyes, she looked down at her wrist, noticing the strange device with the same colour scheme as the egg where her Gear 2 had been. At first when she tried to pull it off, the water made it slick and hard to grasp a hold of, but eventually she learnt that it would not even slide off her wrist. Even running it under water showed that the thing was water resistant, making things even more difficult. Turning it around her wrist to inspect it, all she could find was a black screen and the metal band, not even the signature of a brand. When she had given up on her attempted deciphering of what the strange invention was, she left it with the screen on the inside of her wrist facing towards her.

Stepping out from the shower she grabbed the towel she had slung over the heated towel rack and began drying herself. She was halfway through drying herself when a scream erupted from the main room and something glass-like shattered against the floor. Speeding up the process, Julie wrapped the towel around her midriff and tentatively opened the door. Opening it only slightly so she could see through the crack, Julie called out to Jing, "What happened?"

"The egg!" Jing yelled before tossing a pillow across the room, "The egg hatched into a monster!" Jing screamed again at something Julie could not see, tossing the last of her pillows at whatever was upsetting her.

Slamming the door shut, Julie slid to the floor with her back against the door. Whatever it was, the thing wasn't getting into the bathroom where Julie sat. She bit her thumb as she started to breathe heavily through her nose; she wasn't a fan of small spaces but feeling trapped in a small space with something outside was starting to make her panic. Whispering to herself that everything was going to be alright, Julie soon forgot that Jing was outside standing on the bed until the slamming of the front door made her jump.

Scrambling to her feet, Julie began pounding on the bathroom door yelling, "Come back! Don't leave me here with it!" Despite yelling at the top of her lungs, Julie knew that Jing would already be too far away to hear her screams but she couldn't help the urge.

Julie stopped her screaming when she heard a squelching noise outside the door as something grew closer and closer to her voice. Clasping her hands across her mouth, she backed up away from the door until she was up again the glass wall of the shower. She watched with fear in her eyes as the squelching noise drew closer and a shadow formed along the bottom of the door. Whatever it was outside, Julie hoped that it couldn't squeeze itself through that tiny gap between the door and the floor. Filled with fear, Julie watched as the monster start banging against the door. Ever so slightly it pushed the door open further and further; Julie now dreading for not closing it properly or locking. She ran into the shower raised her arms up to her face in defence, just waiting for the monster to smash through the glass door and devour her entirely.

After a few seconds of nothing happening, Julie looked down to see a small purple creature about the size of her palm staring up at her with bright yellow eyes. A single small horn protruded from the top of its oval body and stretched backwards over a small tail like appendage, but the creature looked overly harmless. Without a mouth or nose, it made little noise save for a squelching sound as it bounced on the lino. What made things more odd was the small, diamond-shaped callous looking thing in the centre of its forehead.

"Jing is a baby, you seem harmless," Julie spoke in soft Mandarin down at the creature before bending down to cup it in her hands, "if anything you're scared of her." Julie stood back up at full height, bringing the small purple thing up to her face. "Just what are you?" She looked at the strange creature from top to bottom, but aside from the obvious, there was nothing that really let her know what it could be.

Walking into the room, Julie placed the small creature on her bed while she quickly put some clothes on. Over top her bra she wore a rather tight fitting grey halter top, and a pair of skinny jeans over her legs. Once dressed, she crawled onto her bed at the head lying flat on her stomach with her legs in the air and propped up on her elbows. With her left hand she supported her head while her right, the hand with the strange device on it, she used to entertain the small purple creature.

Firstly she moved her hand around it, in front of it then side to side. She swapped hands to do the same thing but the creature seemed more interested in her right hand. When she brought the face of the wrist device closer to the creature, it began bouncing on the bed ecstatically. However when she hid the face of the device, the creature seemed almost saddened by its disappearance and tried to glance around her hand to see the face on the inside of her wrist. This thing was curious, Julie had never seen such a thing before in Taiwan, and presumed that it was perhaps a species native to the Americas. Without a mouth, nose, or any bodily orifices, she wondered just how the thing would survive. Brushing her hand over the top of the creature, its skin felt rough and rubbery and it seemed to not enjoy this gesture. Rubbing the side of it however resulted in it trying to sink into her fingers while she rubbed it.

By now several minutes had passed, minutes Julie hadn't paid attention to as she was wrapped up in the mystery that was this creature before her. There was a scrambling at the door and Julie instinctively grabbed the shirt she had been wearing the previous night and draped it over the poor creature.

"Is it gone?" Jing asked warily as she made her way back into the hotel room.

Julie smiled at her, "Yes, it went out the window." Grabbing a book titled "亚特兰蒂斯:觉醒", Julie tried to make the scene look even less conspicuous so that Jing would be more comfortable. She eyed Jing from above her book as the girl scanned the floor at her feet looking for the creature should it jump out from under the bed.

"What was that? It looked like a hairless rat!" Jing exclaimed before making the leap onto her bed.

"I don't know, but it's pretty cute." Julie closed the book, stretching to replace it in her suitcase before taking her shirt off of the creature to reveal it to Jing. "It's practically harmless!" She exclaimed as the blood left Jing's face in a state of pure horror.

"H-how can you let it sit there!" Jing exclaimed, scrambling to the head of her bed as much as possible.

"Relax, it has no mouth; it can't bite." Julie twisted the small creature around so Jing could see its front clearly, resulting in Jing trying to back up even more. "It even likes the device on my wrist more than your blood," Julie joked, laughing slightly at her own joke.

Eventually Jing calmed down, watching Julie play with the creature on the end of her bed. Gradually she moved from the head of her bed down, until she was in a similar position to Julie albeit watching the creature from a safe distance. "What is its name?" She asked, the colour now fully returned to her face and her breathing less erratic.

"I hadn't thought of that," Julie pondered as she rubbed her index finger along its right side. There were really no names that entered her mind as to what she would call it. She was too busy wrapped up in the moment to think of anything else. She absentmindedly continued scratching the creature, not noticing it stiffen up until Jing pointed out from the adjacent bed. Jing was under the impression that the creature was now satisfied with the level of affection that Julie had given it and was now after her flesh and blood. Julie watched it with amazement as it bounced twice along her bed before launching its small body across the gap and onto Jing's bed. Horrified, Jing leapt back to the head of her bed as the small creature bounced across the foot of her bed before bouncing off the other side and smacking into the glass window.

Both Julie and Jing winced as they heard the small 'thud' as creature made contact with glass, but as the two girls looked from Jing's bed down at the small thing, it seemed adamant that it wanted to go outside. It just kept banging against the bottom of the window like if it tried hard enough, it would bust through and break out. Picking it up in the palm of one hand, Julie consoled the creature in Mandarin before opening the sliding door and stepping out onto the small balcony.

The small creatures seemed to almost pull her hand forward as it nudged closer and closer to the edge of the balcony. Looking up, Julie sensed that the tiny creature was trying to make its way towards the park Jing and she had run around earlier. Without warning the small creature leapt out of her palm and tumbled to the ground below. Julie winced as she heard a crash come from below preceded by a bright flash of light, and a woman's scream echo out down the street. With a horrified look on her face, Julie ran back into the room, throwing Jing's shoes at her before putting her own shoes on and pelted out the door with Jing in tow.

Monday Matthews
New York City, New York: 31 December 2014

The speakers blasted Dark Horse into the dance studio. The music bounced off of the walls and, to Monday, it all seemed to come straight to her. She danced powerfully, practicing the hip-hop routine over and over again on her own in the studio. It was early in the morning and the other members of her team were asleep in their hotel, Monday knew. She had left them all there to come here herself after all. Practice would not start for some hours, but it wasn't like Monday not to warm up on her own by practicing before the real work began. She had to make her movements more fluid, more pronounced, more and more in sync with the music! It had to look as perfect as she could possibly manage! Monday and her team would be performing tonight at Times Square before the count down. Thousands of eyes would be on them. She couldn't mess up!

Their routine was only seven short minutes, but with all the world's eyes on them it would surely feel forever. Monday wasn't scared. No, she was excited. Just thinking about the moment they walk up onto the stage made her heart race! Their months of practicing would pay off all tonight. Everyone on the team knew the routine like the back of their hand. It practically ruled their life. Any time Monday heard one of the songs in their New Year's Eve mix she could see every step clearly in her mind. Their coach wouldn't have settled for less, after all. It had gotten to the point where the songs that everyone had been excited to dance to had become their most hated songs. That hadn't happened to Monday, not yet, not ever. Her excitement for the final hour fueled her too much to hate the songs that would put them all on stage. If anything, she liked them more.

Monday finished the routine strongly. She couldn't even hear the end of the music passed the roar of the imagined applause. She was ready, too ready. Part of Monday worried that her excitement would cause her to slip up during their routine, but she knew really that there was nothing to worry about. She would do great, they would all do great. Their show was going to be something to talk about, Monday could feel it.

This had been the third time she'd run through their routine, and now she found there was time for a break. Monday walked over to the stereo and turned it off before sitting by the wall and taking a drink from her water bottle. Above the large mirror in the studio, Monday could see that it was just past eight o'clock. She had gotten up early, eaten early, and she knew after this workout she would be eating an early lunch. Most of the other dancers, Monday assumed, wouldn't be getting up until closer to lunch time and they would all eat together. Coach was going to let them sleep in late today. While Monday elected to still get up early, she was glad to know that there would be a nap and a second meal waiting for her once she was through. She took another drink of her water and closed her eyes. She would only rest until she caught her breath and cooled off, then she would be up and ready again. In her wait, their New Year's Eve mix played in her head and in her mind she watched herself dance her routine over and over again. In her mind she was perfect, a real sight to be seen. There was nothing that could ruin her rhythm. Nothing except for the odd static she heard crackling beside her. It made her movements choppy, stiff, ugly. Monday had to open her eyes, she couldn't take the sight of that.

She looked to the left of her to see what had broken her concentration. It was the stereo, going haywire for reasons she couldn't explain. Monday got up to examine the malfunctioning box, wondering once more why their coach didn't just replace the damn thing with an iPod, maybe just an old laptop even. Not knowing exactly how to fix the stereo, Monday pressed the button on the top to turn it off. That action, though, reminded her that she had already done that. The small red light on the stereo came alive and the static noise emitting from it grew louder. It was alarming, so alarming that Monday was sure their only copy of the show's music would be destroyed. Panicked, she pressed the power button once more, but instead of the player turning off, it screeched louder at her.

"Fuck!" Monday tried the power button again and again, but quickly realized that it wouldn't work. Immediately switching tactics, Monday pressed the button to eject the CD instead. The top opened, to her delight, but she could see inside that the disc itself was spinning wildly. Much too fast for her to try and grab it. Actually, maybe… Monday reached for the disc inside, but before she could grab it a spark shot from the machine and went straight for her right pocket. Monday yelped and jumped back, immediately grabbing where the shock hit to see if she had any injuries. She didn't feel any pain, but what she did feel was her pocket getting hot. Fast. Monday reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone quickly. The Motorola phone vibrated violently in her hands, the screen flickering on and off and the phone still getting hotter. "What the hell!?" She exclaimed. She was certain in that moment her phone would explode. But instead of bursting into flames, her phone began to suddenly transform. The unexpected morphe made Monday throw the phone away from her, frightened by exactly what was going on here. Mid-air she could see her phone transform into what looked like a watch before it disappeared completely.

Monday wasn't sure what she was seeing was real anymore. She stared down at her wrist which now held a pink and white watch that she used to call a phone. She could still see the Motorola symbol shifted onto the band of the watch. Monday's eyes were wide and her mind was blank. Wh-What…? She would have sat down, gotten another drip of her water bottle and thought about this. Mondays watch lit up, the motorola world welcome screen opening up to her like always before it disappeared to something completely new. Instead of her apps, Monday instead of presented with the image of an egg. In a moment a bright light shot from her watch and displayed the image of the egg in the air like a hologram. It was only like that for a few short seconds before the image materialized in front of her eyes.

It was a smooth, pink egg the size of her head. It looked like it was something out of a video game. Monday knew this was real-life though. This was more like a horror movie. The egg floated gently down from the air and onto the wooden floor of the dance studio, Monday starring all the while. She didn't know what to say, she didn't know what to do. What the hell just happened?

Wesley Phillips // McBain Hall: Room 401 // December 31st, 2014

"One... Two... Three... Four... " Wesley counted out loud each time he lowered his chest to the ground, only to push himself back up. He would continue the pushups until he reached one hundred, then follow up with another hundred of pullups, then finish off by knocking out two hundred sit ups as he did every morning. The routine was rather tedious, but he understood that physical fitness is an important part of keeping one's health at a satisfactory level and working out in gyms was rather alien to the country boy who had built up most of his muscle from everyday chores on the farm.

After finishing with his workout he continued on with his morning routine by taking a quick shower and throwing on some jeans and a flannel. From then on the cycle changed from day to day. On this particular morning Wes cooked himself some breakfast (a rather impressive bacon and sausage scramble) before putting François Couperin's "Les Barricades Mystérieuses" on to his personal record player, plopping himself down on the dorm room sofa, and opening up a book describing the Baroque Era of music.

The relatively mundane routine was one that he would practice each and every day he didn't have any classes, substituting different activities depending on what interested him and how he felt that day. Say if the sport of soccer were to be peaking his interest at the time then instead of reading a book at home he might go practice in the park or watch a couple matches and study the film. However, it was not typical that he would still be at school during this time of year. The past year Wesley had returned home and spent the holiday break with his mother, but seeing as though he couldn't afford a plane ticket this year, he was forced to spend the holidays at Columbia.

After finishing another page from the book Wes tossed the book down on the coffee table and stopped the record player. He stretched out his long body across the couch and mumbled to himself about how boring the "Baroque Era" of music was getting. It had only been a month since it had peeked his interest, but already the constant crescendos of the orchestra had begun to bore him.

As he began to get off of the couch the television suddenly turned itself on. Thinking not too much of it Wes grabbed the remote and pressed on the power button to no avail. He jammed the switch over and over, but there was no response from the tv. Slightly annoyed, he tossed down the remote before getting up to manually turn off the device. The sudden ring of the dorm room phone distracted him from finishing his task, but as he walked toward the ringing phone the record player started to play "Les Barricades Mystérieuses" over again.

He grabbed the phone, only for it to continue ringing and a static noise greeting him on the other end. "What in the world...?" He asked aloud to himself as even more electronic devices joined in on the fun. The alarm clock blared, the toaster was going beserk, hell even the printer was shooting out papers. It all accumulated into the most irritating noise he had heard since the farm's prized heifer gave birth to twins. Wesley crouched down and backed himself into the doorway observing the absurd scene before him in what he thought as the safest spot in the room. Then suddenly in the midst of all the mayhem a brilliant light manifested itself in the television screen and split off into two beams, one hitting the floor directly ahead of it and the other enveloping Wes' phone which sat on the coffee table.

With that, the electronic mania seized immediately prompting Wes to slowly make his way to where the beams of light had hit. From what he could saw it seemed as if his Galaxy s5 had been replaced with a black and white watch-like device. Furthermore, in front of the television there was something that hadn't been there before. A white and blue speckled object that resembled something much like an egg sat before the t.v. Rather taken aback and not sure what to make of things Wesley leaned onto the kitchen counter and adjusted his glasses. "Well... this has been quite the peculiar morning."

Terran Gutierra

What seemed like a fury of chimes woke Terran up from their groggy state and its repetitive nature stopped them from returning to the land of dreams. A single swipe of a finger turned off the alarm that made itself present with an alert banner on Terran's iPhone. There was nothing in the world that could prepare Terran for this day so instead they wrapped themself in a cocoon made from blankets on the bed and dozed off.

"Get up, Terran!" That shrill voice belonged to Terran's mother who had opened the door to the room Terran was in. "Sweetie, I've hung your dress on the back of the door."

"Okay..." Terran was surprised about how deep their voice sounded in that moment. Why couldn't their be some sort voice changing box. Instead of pondering further how strange it would be to have some sort of switch on the side of their neck Terran untangled the blankets from around their body and frowned. They hadn't changed into a beautiful butterfly.

Terran sent a single hand sifting through the mounds of protective covering to retrieve the most important thing, Terran's phone. They wrapped their hands around the cold electronic device and brought it into their line of sight. A simple touch of the home button revealed the multitude of notifications, most of them from social media, Terran's internet homelands. One E-mail from Amazon saying their order had shipped, two retweets on Twitter, and the rest were from the post they had posted last night on Tumblr. Apparently, either a lot of people disagreed with their statement or they all loved it, Terran was still having trouble opening their eyes. They flicked their thumb across the screen and it turned out a lot of people agreed with the sentiments Terran made about Leelah Alcorn.

Across the room on a hanger attached to the back of the door that once upon a time was white but now was beige. The dress was decent, sleeveless, royal purple, and Terran could tell it would also act like broom and sweep everything on the ground, though, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing for this room. Terran's mother's sister (Terran's aunt, but Terran preferred to call her anything but that) had insisted that they stay in their house and not in some foreign hotel. That was mistake numero uno. The room previous occupant was the bride at the wedding that was to take place at midnight tonight. A New Years wedding, in New York City, now that was definitely mistake numero dos (also, terribly, terribly cliche).

Terran reached for the phone again, but suddenly retreated from it as it started to glow. What the... Once the bright light subsided from around the phone Terran saw how it was no longer a phone. Wait, what the hell was going on here? Terran wasn't one to hesitate as they swiped up their not-phone-but-was-some-weird-watch-but-still-their-phone-maybe. The watch itself was pretty stylish, Terran turned around and paced across the room trying to figure out the settings to... whatever was going on. They paused in front of the television, but perhaps that was a mistake because the second Terran did that the screen on the clearly expensive wide-screen TV started to flicker. One good thing to come from all of this was that Terran knew they didn't have some undiagnosed case of epilepsy.

An image appeared of a plain yellow egg, it wasn't spotted, speckled, or even polka-dotted. When the egg started moving toward Terran they imagined that it was some sort of special 3D television, but then the egg materialized on the bed. Out of all the feelings Terran knew they sound be feeling only one actually was felt in great abundance, excitement. Something big was happening and somehow Terran was chosen to be apart of it. Man, Terran couldn't wait to write an AU fan-fic about this... If only Terran's phone would turn back so they could access Tumblr in order to post it. That's when Terran noticed a small crack on the rather large-sized egg, was it an ostrich egg? Those things laid huge eggs.

TABARI "tate" SALEH
Arc 1: Digital Access... Granted!
Episode 1: The Day It All Changed - Part 2
Wednesday, December 31st, 2014

-----------------------------------------------------
The egg twitched on the ground, Tabari eyeing it carefully. He knew of certain that these things were not possible, that objects did not just come out of televisions otherwise he would have 20 of them in his room and just order pizzas and hamburgers all day. The TV had switched off now, the screen fizzing into black and the egg stopped, laying motionless and upright as if it was staring at Tabari. He took a moment to stare at his new watch that he had somehow acquired, tapping the screen and expecting something to happen. It, like the TV, was black and unresponsive and didn't look like it was going to work. A quick tug at it also told him it wasn't coming off anytime soon.

"If this thing is like Saw, I swear to God..." he muttered, his gaze returning to the egg. It looked like an egg at least, aside from the strange colours. Pink and brown. What in hell would have laid that?

He stepped over to it and gently picked it up, assessing its weight, which was probably as heavy as a bottle of milk and about as tall as a bowling ball. It was warm and smooth to touch and it didn't seem dangerous at all. His mind drifted to what would happen if he was to drop it off the balcony when the egg made a deep cracking noise and the shell split just between his fingers. He let out a yelp and dropped it, jumping back and watching it fall to the carpeted ground. It made a thump and a crack, the bottom splitting further until the shell gave way and fell apart, revealing a brown... thing. It had a tail, bumps on its head and when it blinked, it revealed two small, beady eyes.

Conomon.gif
"Is that a cat? Are you a cat?" He took a step forward, swaying his head to see around it. It seemed delighted at the sight of Tabari, bouncing forward. No legs, no arms, just a head and a tail. "Not a cat, not a cat, not a cat." He stepped back, out of the 'cat's' reach, bumping into the hotel bed behind him and jumping up onto it.

The 'cat' was disappointed and stopped, pouting (is that what you could call it? Pouting??) at him. It blew a few bubbles at him (to which Tabari had no idea where they would have come from) and Tabari grabbed the closest thing to him - the hotel phone - and swiped at them. They popped, Tabari feeling the stinging residue flick onto the hands. He dropped the phone, the acid from the bubble eating away at the receiver, destroying it. Great, now he couldn't call room service. Or the police. Or... animal control?

He scrambled to the other side of the bed, heading for the front door. The 'cat', obviously smarter than it looked, threw itself across the room, landing at Tabari's feet and blowing bubbles up at him. He made another yelp, and jumped back on the bed, grabbing the destroyed phone in the sheets and throwing it at it. It hit the 'cat' square in the head and it rolled back a few inches before letting out a loud wail. Was it... was that crying?

"What are..." Tabari went to make way for the door, but that wailing sounded exactly like, well, crying. The 'cat' rolled back to face him, revealing tears in its eyes. Oh God, he couldn't just leave it now. Despite how ugly (or cute??) it looked, this thing was just a baby. Like, it literally had just hatched from an egg. And Tabari had thrown a phone at it. If he had done that to any other kind of baby he would probably have gone to jail. Except maybe like a fly baby, those maggot things were nasty. He slowly slid off the bed, and took a few cautious steps over to it, bending down to look at it. "Eugh, God, what are you? Eugh, sorry... buddy. My bad." It looked even more slimey from up close. "You seriously look kinda like a cat fetus." It wailed a little louder.

There was a thump on the hotel wall and a shout that followed. "Hey, shut that kid up!"

"Why don't you shut up, arsehole!" Tabari yelled back, standing up and facing the wall. "I'm sorry I cut into your valuable morning wood wank time!" The shout didn't reply, Tabari turning back to the 'cat'. Dickhe-- oh... alright, what happened here." The 'cat' was now different, pink, had ears and missing a tail. It gurgled at him and... smiled? Was that a smile? "Okay, now you definitely look like a cat fetus."

Kokomon.gif
"That's not very nice," it squeaked back. Tabari's eyes widened, grabbing the next closest thing and throwing it (this time a pillow). The 'cat' made a muffled "Ow!" and Tabari grabbed the keycard on the bench and bolted out the door, slamming it behind him and sliding down it with his back to the door to bar it shut. It could probably melt through it with those bubbles.

"Oh God, it's a demon. It's a cat fetus demon sent to take me to Hell, oh God, this is just like those dumb horror movies." he whimpered to himself, receiving more strange looks than he had the last time he yelled out the door. He exchanged looks with one of his hotel neighbours and pointed at him. "What are you looking at?! There's a flippin' devil cat in here!" Two asian girls shuffled down the hallway, giving him odd looks as they passed him. Tabari screwed up his nose. "Yeah, thanks arseholes! If I die, it's your fault!" One of them quickly said something to the other in presumably Chinese, to which Tabari could not understand a single word.

"I'm not a demon, Tabari!" The thing squeaked from the other side of the door. Tabari pushed himself harder against the door.

"Oh God, it knows my name, I'm going to die right here and then I'll be the start of an episode of Supernatural," he hissed under his breath, squeezing his eyes shut and banging his head against the door. "Oh Jesus, oh God, oh man."

"I'm not going to hurt you!"

"Yeah, I'm sure that's what you always say before you skin people alive and eat their souls. Not falling for that one, buddy. I am too young and too pretty to die." He shook his head. "I'll make so many headlines. I'll be on the news. They'll know its a cat demon because there are witnesses." He pointed at the cleaning lady at the end of the hall. "You hear that?! Demon cat! Witnesses!!" Maybe he should call 911 or something? His phone had turned into this freaking looking watch, maybe there was an option for ringing people. He tapped at it, then smashed it a few times with his fist when it stayed black. Dumb piece of shit, was this part of the cat's work too? Wait, what about exorcising! He had seen enough horror movies to know anything chanted in latin would kill a ghost. Or a demon. Or a cat. "Uh, spiritus... exorcise... demonus... be gone evil spirit! I banish you to whence you came!!"

There wasn't a reply from the cat, though it could just be another trick. He slowly got to his feet and used his key card to open the door, opening it far enough to see inside. He poked his head in, the cat thing nowhere to be seen. Had it worked? Did he seriously just bullshit his way through this? He stepped inside, nothing yet, slowly checking around corners as he walked through the hallway. He had! He gotten rid of it! Wow. Awesome. That was something to put up on Facebook. He breathed, closing the door behind him and going behind the TV to pull out the power cable. No way was this shit happening again.

"Tabari!" The pink thing reappeared behind him.

"Shit fuck!" Tabari jumped out of his skin, jumping away from the cat. It was smart, it had cornered him behind the TV. There was nothing behind here to throw. He was dead. "I'll give you anything you want, you can have my wallet man my credit card is maxed but my parents pay for it so you can buy like anything just leave me alone. What even are you, man?"

"Tabari, I'm a Digimon! My name is Kokomon!"

"A... Digimon?" What was that?

Freddy - Wednesday, December 31st

He sat on his bed, cross-legged with the for once alert bulldog Charles beside him. The egg lay nested among his pillows, wrapped up in blankets so that it nearly wasn't visible. Common sense told Freddy that he ought to keep the egg warm, and he didn't feel like cradling it himself nor hand it over to Charles in any way.

"How long does it take for an egg to hatch?" he asked. The bulldog looked up at him with droopy eyes. "A big egg like this... does it take longer than for little chicken eggs? I should know, shouldn't I?" He groaned, thinking back at all the puppies and infant animals he had seen at his parents' shop back in the old days.

As if to answer his question, a cracking noise suddenly made both the boy and the dog raise their heads sharply. Was it happening already? Digital eggs were maybe faster than organic eggs. Or something like that. Freddy's brain was racing through every piece of alien or fantastic creature lore he could remember from his video games. He came up with nothing that could relate to what was now happening.

A squeaking noise was heard, and the blankets started to shuffle around. Charles and Freddy both leaned in, breath paused in suspense. Something teal colored pushed the covers away and revealed two big, black eyes. Slowly, two black and cerise horns rose from what must have been a little head, and the teal colored thing turned out to be an arm, because there was another one on the other side of the head, now both flapping as if testing the limbs out. Wait, those looked more like wings, really. Horns, wings and...

The baby creature burped, and a small flame escaped its mouth before it giggled and blinked eagerly. Charles barked and jumped off the bed, rushing out to the common room. He was most likely going to hide under a sofa, Freddy figured. Himself, he was too fascinated and perplexed to move.

"Wow."

"Gigigigi!"

"Gigi?"

"Gigigigigi!" the creature giggled on and jumped towards him. He almost fell backwards out of the bed, but he caught the baby in his arms and discovered that it had a single, cerise little leg.

"You're like... A little baby bat ball or something," Freddy mumbled.

The creature burrowed its happy face into his chest in a motion that might be a hefty nodding.

"But how did you get here? You came out of my TV! And... Oh daggers, what's mum and dad gonna say? What should I do with you?"

"Giiigigi!" the creature cried, making him look down at it. Its eyes had turned serious.

"What? Did I do something wrong?"

A rumbling noise suddenly erupted from somewhere between them. Freddy's stomach was gurgling. He had been lazy and skipped breakfast, after all, and now it was about lunch time. Suddenly, the sound was mirrored - the baby bat ball's stomach rumbled too.

"Are you hungry?"

"Gigi!"

Lunch it was, then. Next problem - what did digital fire bat monsters eat?

Wellington Hotel, Manhattan, New York

Episode One: The Day It All Changed (Part Three)
Closing Theme: 守護星 Guardian Star - Fahrenheit

Wednesday December 31st, 2014

Julie and Jing dodged past cleaning carts, between hotel patrons and over young children as they sprinted down the hall. With Julie in the lead, Jing drafted behind her giving the girl time to see and react to Julie manoeuvre around, over or through an obstacle. Jing was in two minds about the whole affair: she wasn't very fond of the creature, whatever it was, so was pleased that it had left their presence rather abruptly. However, she wasn't one to wish harm on any living creature and so she needed to make sure it was okay.

"Maybe it can fly and flew away!" Jing yelled in Mandarin as she gripped the corner of the wall to swing herself around.

Julie dodged around an old couple looking like they were having trouble getting in their room before shouting back at Jing again in Mandarin, "It didn't have wings! Flying things normally have wings!"

"Normal things don't come out of TVs!" Jing replied as the two girls sprinted past a distressed, Middle-Eastern looking guy around their age. He seemed to be yelling something to the people around him and at them specifically, Jing picking up the English words "cat" and "demon", but like Julie not understanding what he was saying.

The two made it to the end of the hall where there was a green lit sign with a stick figure man walking down what looked like stairs. Bursting through the heavy door, they began the tiring decent down the several levels of stairs to the atrium below. By the time they were three floors down, both girls we're cringing as their calves and thighs were starting to ache from the run they had gone on earlier. With sweat now beading down their heads, the two girls had both changed from their running clothes into jeans and tops, grabbing their team tracksuit jackets as they pelted out of the hotel room. Running in jeans was just hell, both girls feeling the restricted stride slowing down their usual running pace.

The hotel atrium was a lavish affair with a high dome ceiling, large chandelier dominating the overhead space and various guests of different origins mingling while they decided where to go for breakfast, waiting to check in, or taking photos of the intricate interior décor. A large gathering of people had convened near the entrance as they all craned their necks trying to see what was causing such a ruckus outside. With serene orchestral music maintaining a calm atmosphere, the pleasant aura of the place was soon disturbed as two post-teenage Chinese girls came running through the stairwell door. The two were yelling in Mandarin to each other as their uproar caused many of their patrons to throw looks of disgust their way. Sprinting through the atrium they pushed through the crowd of people standing by the door and out into the cool, snowy streets. As the cold air hit them, they slowed to a stop as people milled about around a car that was parked outside of the hotel, two Police Officers taking statements from pedestrians as their police cars blocked any drivers from seeing the damage. Compared to the hot, stuffy air inside the hotel, they girls briefly enjoyed the cool respite that had greeted them outside.

"I can't see it, can you?" Julie swung her head from side to side as she scanned the immediate area for any sign of the palm sized creature.

"No I can't, but that car looks destroyed!" Jing hadn't been looking for the creature as her attention had been drawn to the caved in hood and smashed glass windows of the car. One of the Police Officers dismissed the witness he had been talking to, jotting down the last words of the statement the witness had given.

"What up?" Jing asked in English as she approached the nearest Police Officer.

The tall, dark brown skinned Police Officer looked up from his note book, his height and complexion giving Jing a fright. "I'm sorry ma'am, please step back as this is a crime scene." He held his hand out towards her, motioning for her to cease her movement but Jing continued forward not fully understanding what the officer had just said.

Unlike Julie, Jing had a slightly better knowledge of the English language, however this knowledge mainly came from video shows she watched over the internet. "What up, homie?" She asked again, making sure to over emphasise her wording so the officer could understand her English as she motioned at the car.

"Excuse me ma'am, please step back." The officer repeated himself, slowing down his speaking in case it was too fast for her to understand.

"What is he saying, Jing?" Julie asked in Mandarin from behind, curious as to how their conversation (or lack thereof) was going.

Jing turned her head to the side to address Julie in Mandarin, "He said there was a crime here. I think someone was murdered." This only served to increase the girls' interest in the situation, "Perhaps that monster ate someone."

The Police Officer was completely taken aback as the two girls began conversing in Chinese and he was unsure of what to do in such a situation. The only other language he knew was a bit of Spanish from High School, so he attempted the next best thing, "Can you speak English?" He mimicked Jing's slow, emphatic style of speech to make it easier for the girls to understand.

"What did he say?" Julie asked quickly.

"He said we speak English."

"I don't speak English, neither do you," Julie was starting to feel a bit anxious, without one of their coaches or teammates to translate she felt helpless in this situation. She hated feeling like she had no control over the situation. On the soccer field, no matter who the opponents were, she had control. In Taiwan, everyone spoke Mandarin or Taiwanese, she could understand both so was in control. Here in the middle of America, she didn't speak English and no one spoke Mandarin: the lack of control began gnawing at her insides.

"NO ENGLISH," Jing almost yelled at the Police Officer, "PURPLE MONSTER?" she asked referring to the small creature that had come from their television. Holding her palm face up, she brought her other hand over top to show the officer the size of the creature she was asking about.

"Purple Monster?" The Police Officer queried, taken aback by the sudden change in direction of the conversation.

"PURPLE MONSTER." Jing tried yelling again, confirming that the man was on the same page as them.

Their saving grace arrived as from behind them, a woman screamed a high pitched squeal, pointing at a knee height purple creature as it hopped out from under a car and towards Jing and Julie. Turning around the two girls spotted the creature as it started bounding towards them from a meter away, its mouth contorted into a smile like it knew Julie. Julie's face turned immediately to horror as she confirmed that the purple monster had grown more than twice its previous size in a matter of minutes. Perhaps Jing had been right and it had consumed some poor, unfortunate soul.

"Get it!" Julie yelled the charge, grabbing Jing's shoulder and turning the girl around to face the creature.

Hopmon had been so full of joy once it had found Julie again. After the tumble off the ledge, it had digivolved from Ketomon so that it would come out of the drop unscathed. However a car had appeared beneath the Digimon, the added weight to its body mass plus the inertia from the drop meant that the roof caved in on impact. Scared of all the people pointing at it and yelling that it was a monster, Hopmon tumbled off of the car and hid beneath another car one car away from the one it had fallen on. Ecstatic to be reunited, Hopmon began bounding forward to Julie, until she turned around, yelling and pointing a finger towards him before running straight at him. Panicking, Hopmon turned tail and began hopping (rather quickly mind you) through the bustling crowd of feet while Jing and Julie screamed after it.

While Hopmon could literally hop through people's feet as it tried to escape the girls, Julie and Jing had to contend with those people. In such a crowded street it was hard not to bump into people as they tried dodging between the many pedestrians that milled on the sidewalk. On more than one occasion the girls knocked shoulders or foot-tripped someone, getting glares of disapproval from many of the people around them. Without the time to stop and apologise they continued on their mad dash as the small purple monster hopped just a head of them.

At one point, Julie almost collided into someone with her shoulder rolling into the person. Like a person from out of the book she was reading, the pedestrian seemed to deflect her shoulder like some sort of forcefield were present. This caused Julie to stumble past the person and continue on. From behind though, Jing saw the whole thing unfold as it happened in a blur: some strange humanoid fox thing stood between Julie and the pedestrian, pushing Julie lightly the moment she was falling in towards the Pedestrian. Since it all happened in a flash, Jing was unsure of whether she actually saw the human-fox thing at all. As she ran past, Jing looked back at the pedestrian they had run past, a look of confusion crossing her face as she couldn't tell whether they were a girl or a boy. Not stopping to ask, she continued on following Julie.

As they continued down the busy street, the small creature bounced through the busy traffic seemingly leaving it undisturbed. When Julie and Jing ran across the road however, chaos ensued as the squealing of breaks, honking of horns and yelling of obscenities filled the air. One car swerved to avoid their mad dash across the road while a pedestrian on the other side tried and failed to grab a hold of either one of them.

"It's going towards the park!" Julie yelled out as she could see the creature was hopping more slowly now, obviously just as exhausted as they were. On the last stretch they managed to catch up to it as it came to a standstill just left of the park entrance.

"Stop!" Julie ordered in Mandarin as the creature came to a halt.

As she bent down to pick up Hopmon, he began quivering, "Don't hurt me!" He called out using Mandarin a high pitched voice.

Both Julie and Jing stiffened up, taking a step back from the monster. "It talked?"

"It can't have talked."

"It just talked!"

"Don't lie, it was you!"

"I didn't talk, it talked!"

The girls blamed one another until Hopmon stopped cowering and spoke up again, "I can talk, I am a Digimon!" Hopmon announced to the girls, apparently proud on what it was.

"What is a Digimon?" Julie asked Jing, only receiving an 'I don't know' shrug from Jing before looking at the creature.

"A Digimon is a Digital Monster, like me! I'm called Hopmon." It bounced up and down on the spot, the two girls watching with eyes transfixed at the weird sight before their eyes. "I come from the Digital World!"

"Digital… Monster…?" The girls queried in unison, still not one hundred percent sure of the situation. At any rate the Hopmon could speak Mandarin: the first thing outside of their soccer team they could communicate with.

"I am a human," Julie was the first to speak, "we are humans," she corrected herself motioning to Jing and herself. "I am Julie, this is Jing." Julie first pointed to herself and then to Jing. "I don't know where this 'Digital World' is but we come from Taiwan."

"We don't have a 'Taiwan' in the DigiWorld, but it sounds like fun. I know you, Julie, you are my partner and I am your Digimon. The thing on your arm is a Digivice, it helps us communicate." Hopmon nodded towards the Digivice as Julie brought her wrist over so Jing could see as well.

The screen was now lit up, having been dark before, and a list of apps all in Chinese were available with more as she scrolled through. In the top right she could see the characters 'Zhongwen' displayed meaning that the Digivice, and apparently Digimon, was in Chinese Language mode.

"I don't know about us being 'partners', but if you say so…" Julie was just a bit wary that the creature that had appeared from out of her television nearly an hour ago in an egg was now telling her that is was some sort of partner to her had her worried. "What now, Hopmon?"

The digimon stiffened up, like it sensed some sort of disturbance that neither Julie nor Jing could see, hear or smell. "I Digivolve," was all it said before being engulfed in light.

Julie and Jing had to cover their eyes as the bright light illuminated the area around them. Once the light had subsided and the girls could both see again without spots in their eyes, they lowered their arms to see that Hopmon was no longer there. In its place was a bipedal dragon looking dinosaur with the same purple and orange scheme as its previous incarnations. It was almost standing at eye level with the two girls making them both feel nervous. "Don't be scared," Hopmon said in a much deeper voice than before, "I'm Monodramon!" He announced before turning around, hunching over and proceeding into the park.

Looking to one another, the girls gave one another a shrug. It wasn't often you got to meet a talking dragon-dinosaur in the middle of America. Football practice with the team in an indoor stadium seemed so boring and tedious compared to following this Monodramon into central park. Both began proceeding forth, through the gate behind Monodramon. Julie and Jing smiled to one another as they now no longer regretted travelling half the world to attend some football competition and instead walked towards the awaiting adventure.

Freddy - Wednesday, December 31st

Roomservice came up with late breakfast for Freddy, consisting of a fresh omelette, sausages, bagel, juice and tea. Charles was still peeking out at them from under the sofa when Freddy sat down and let the strange new creature have a whiff at each thing on the plates.

"Don't you eat meat? You look like you'd eat meat."

He held out a piece of a sausage on a fork towards the creature, who blinked and stared for a few seconds before it tentatively licked at the food with a tiny, pink tongue. It immediately shone up and munched down the whole bit.

"Thought so!" Freddy laughed. This fellow was actually pretty cute. Like a regular animal, only very irregular. And perhaps a bit more... Intelligent? Not that it seemed very smart per se, but unlike Charles the bulldog, this animal-thing actually seemed to react and respond to him at all times. "Where did you come from..." he murmured and poked around in the omelette as he watched the monster gobble up a whole sausage. "And what species could you possibly be? There are no real dragons, from what I've understood. And I've read and seen a lot about animals. Then again, you did come out of the TV... or did I dream that?"

He suddenly noticed that the creature had finished eating and was watching him closely with big, black eyes from atop the table. Then, it suddenly burped up another fireball that nearly scorched the omelette and made the little monster fall backwards down onto the floor.

Freddy laughed and stood up to make sure that it hadn't hurt itself. But his face fell when he saw what rose up from the other side of the table now. It wasn't the creature that had fallen down. It was, put bluntly, a tiny dragon. The black and cerise horns were bigger, the eyes now had proper, purple irises and the body was covered in green scales, as were the still tiny wings. And most of all, it was not a ball anymore.

Babydmon.jpg
"I did come out from the TV!" the creature said happily. "Where else would I have come from?"

Freddy jumped up with a squeak and tumbled down behind the sofa, where Charles was already waiting, barking at whatever was on the other side.

"Itatatata!" the child-like voice came, as if to counter the barking. "Stop that! Why do you talk like that?"

"He's not talking," Freddy managed to blurt out, still crouching down and not looking at whoever he was really talking to. "He's barking. He's a dog."

"A dog! A Dogmon?"

Now the voice came from directly above his head, and he looked up to see the happy dragon peek down at him from the top of the sofa. Charles flew up and ran back into Freddy's room, but the boy felt fascination conquer his fear of the unknown. Slowly, he stood up and came face to face with the green creature.

"What's a Dogmon?"

"I don't know, what's a dog?"

"An animal."

"Animal. Strange!" the dragon chuckled. "Hey, you were wondering what species I was! I'm a digimon! More specifically, I'm Babydmon!"

"Digimon? I never heard of them?" Freddy breathed.

"We don't normally come to your world," Babydmon said, leaning back into the sofa, which looked pretty strange considering he had neither legs nor arms. "But I came now. To you!"

"To me?" Freddy said in confusion, gingerly moving around the sofa to sit down in it as well, albeit at a safe distance from the strange monster.

"Yes, of course! I couldn't have come to anyone else, could I?" Babydmon sighed, as if Freddy was crazy for not understanding that.

"Okay." Freddy carefully reached out towards the creature. "So I didn't dream you up, then?"

"Maybe you have, before! I might have been dreaming of you before. I don't really remember. Hm. That's weird."

His finger poked at the green scales near its neck. Warm to the touch. He let his hand stroke the neck. Definitely alive. It felt almost like his old lizard, Manuela. Only... More vivid. Maybe he should just accept that Babydmon was here, now, and save the details of his arrival for later.

"You looked different a minute ago," Freddy began.

"I digivolved! Needed some food, was all. Petitmon was only my most primal form."

"Petitmon?"

"Yes, that was my name back then!"

"You had a different name a minute ago?"

"Yes, and if I digivolve again, I'll get a new name again!"

"How often do you... digivolve?"

"I don't really know. I don't think I've digivolved before. I just came out of the egg, after all."

Freddy shook his head. "How come you can talk and know who and what you are, when you were just hatched?"

"I'm a digital monster, Freddy!" Babydmon smiled and jumped up and down in his seat. "We're programmed to know some things!"

He froze. "Like my name?"

"Yes! Oh, I think I'm hungry again. I don't think Babydmon is my default form, after all. There's still a lot of residual energy brewing inside of me. But it needs a boost!"

With that, the green dragon chomped down at what was left of Freddy's omelette, and he didn't stop it. This was turning into quite the fairy tale. And he got an idea.

Dracomon.jpg
"Don't you want a real name? Something we could call you by regardless of how many times you digivolve?"

"Hm? A name?" the dragon said in between two bites.

"Yes, you know... Like Freddy! It doesn't matter how old I get, or what I look like. I'll always be Freddy. And Charles!"

"Charles?"

"The dog... Dogmon. His name is Charles."

"I don't know what name would suit me!"

"That's the thing, see. You don't give yourself a name. Others give you names. So I can give you a name. Like..." He thought hard as he watched the digimon sniff and wrinkle his nose at the juice before chugging down the tea instead. It was a dragon, and Babydmon and Petitmon sounded really strange even for a dragon. They needed something simpler. Something nice sounding. Something that matched his own name, perhaps. Teddy? No, not in a lifetime. But maybe... "Derry?"

The digimon put the mug down and grinned at the boy. "Derry! I can be Derry! Oh..."

Suddenly, he started glowing, so brightly that Freddy had to cover his eyes. When he looked again, he wasn't sitting beside a green little sea horse looking thing anymore. Instead, there was a slightly bigger, much more dragon looking creature there. Teal scales on arms and legs, even small wings that were now red, just like the eyes and horns.

"Although," Derry said with a voice that sounded more like a teenager in Freddy's age, "the name should now be Dracomon. That's a mouthful though, isn't it? At least compared to Derry! Let's be Derry! Derry and Freddy. Here's the last sausage, Freddy! Derry's not hungry anymore. All balanced out now!"

Freddy accepted the sausage he was handed and found himself smiling. His own talking dragon. It was like a daydream coming through. At least until his parents would get home...

TABARI "tate" SALEH
Arc 1: Digital Access... Granted!
Episode 1: The Day It All Changed - Part 3
December 31st, 2014

-----------------------------------------------------
"What is a Digimon?"

"... I'm not too sure." Kokomon suddenly looked sad, if Tabari could call that look sad. It was hard to tell where its eyes even were. It didn't even have ears, or a nose. Just a pink blob with eyes and horns. Or maybe those horns were ears? It was hard to tell. "All I know is I'm from the Digital World."

"Yeah, see? You can't even stick to your story. You're obviously lying." Tabari slowly rose to his feet, his eyes stuck to Kokomon's. He had been so stupid. This thing was barely even up to his knee and it could shoot bubbles. He made a dash for the pillow he had thrown at it before, holding it up to his face. "Hah! Your dumb bubbles can't hurt me now. You can find some other soul to reap, baby."

The keycard still in his hand, he went back for the door and bolted down the hallway, ignoring the stares from anyone watching him, including the people he had shouted at before. If all went well, maybe that 'Kokomon' thing would eat them. That would teach them to ignore him.

He looked at the thing on his watch for the third time, trying to make any sense of it. How could his phone have physically turned into a watch?! He didn't want a watch and didn't have a need for one - his phone told him what the time was. And now, he was without phone and without contact to his parents. Not like they'd believe him, but he'd need them if he wanted to either a) get another room or b) get into another country.

He furiously pushed the elevator button, checking behind him to make sure that Kokomon didn't have the ability to squeeze itself under a door. The elevator pinged, a few people stepping out of the elevator and Tabari squeezing past the last two, not patient enough to actually wait the 2 seconds it would take for everyone to get out. Life was short and even shorter when cat demons wanted to kill him. He stabbed the button for the bottom floor, the elevator pinging and humming its way to the bottom, only stopping once to make way for another guest of the hotel much to Tabari's dismay. They nodded and said hi to him, only for him to snort back and barge his way passed them as the doors pinged on the bottom floor.

The lady in the foyer went to wish him a goodbye but Tabari ignored her and her annoying accent, pushing the doors open and letting the hard light hurt his eyes. He had to get away from that dumb hotel, maybe he could go find Aisha and his Dad. He had completely blown them off this morning, but walking in a park sounded a hell of a lot more fun than getting burned to death by acid. Of course, he couldn't call them (dumb phone watch) but they said they were going to Central Park. It was just a park, wasn't it? Surely it couldn't be that big. Maybe his Dad's gun could kill it. Did he bring it with him to America? Was that even allowed?

The street was busy, but not busy enough for Tabari to lose himself in. A few people shoved him as he made his way across the footpath, his eyes on his watch. He responded with angry shouts, to which the passerbyers didn't care much about. It was morning and most of these people looked like they were heading somewhere important but it wasn't like he wasn't just as important. More important, even. Assholes.

"Out of the way!" A man on a bike, probably a courier or delivery guy of some sort zipped right past him, clipping him on the arm and shoving him aside onto the road. He didn't stop, not even glancing back to see if Tabari was okay. And none of the people walking past did either. He snorted. He hated this country more than his old private school.

"Dickhead!" Tabari stepped back, putting the finger at the biker.

"Tabari! Watch out!" A voice came from above. Tabari looked up to see where the voice was coming from, then in front of him. A car, whaling its horn at Tabari, its brakes screeching at him. He had stepped back onto the road, it seemed, but the car wasn't going to stop in time. Everything seemed to slow down as the car slid across the cement road, heading straight towards Tabari.

"Ah, shit."

Lopmon.gif
Before the car could hit him though, Tabari was heaved to the side, back onto the footpath by a brown and pink blur. The car slid to a halt, the driver shouting something at Tabari before taking off again. Tabari couldn't see him though. Instead, he had a warm, brown, furry thing on his face. What was this?

"Are you okay, Tabari?" The brown thing got up from his face, its familiar beady eyes staring down at him. It changed. Again.

"You pushed me out of the way," he said, wheezy and winded. The cement was hard and cold on his back. "What'd you do that for? I was gonna move."

The brown thing wasn't like the pink thing. It had arms, legs and two very big ears. It smiled at him. "I told you I wasn't gonna hurt you."

"Thanks. I guess."

After catching his breath, Tabari had moved back up to his hotel room, Kokomon trailing behind him. He realised that a little brown dog/cat/bunny thing following him would look weird, but luckily the lobby desk was too high and, like they had been for the rest of the morning, the hotel guests stared but didn't ask him about it, choosing to ignore (or perhaps talk to the lady at the lobby. Tabari really didn't care either way). Tabari positioned himself on the bed, the melted phone sitting next to him and Kokomon sitting at the other end.

"So, what are you again?"

"I'm a Digimon. I'm from the Digital World."

Tabari raised an eyebrow. That sounded like the internet. Or the inside of a TV. That would explain the egg. "And where's that exactly?" Kokomon frowned back.

"I… don't know."

"Why did you come out of my TV?"

"I don't know that either." Tabari raised both eyebrows. Kokomon shook its head. "All I know is that I'm a Digimon from the Digital World and that I'm here for you, Tabari."

"Mmhm." Tabari rolled his shoulders and exhaled. "Well, Koko, if that is your real name…"

"It's Kokomon, but I'm Lopmon now," it replied. Tabari frowned at 'Lopmon'.

"You change what you look like and your name? That's not confusing at all." Lopmon smiled back at him.
