With Platinum, the team I last had when I beat Cynthia was Empoleon, Luxray, Gyarados, Garchomp, Heracross and Glaceon. Very strong all around.

As for Heart Gold, I have Typhlosion, Ampharos, Quagsire, Forretress, Nidoqueen and Slowking, with some of those slots swapping for HM slaves at different points. They did me good throughout the game too. I already beat Red, so yeah.

In my last run of HeartGold version, my team consisted of Typhlosion, Crobat, Zapdos, and Mamoswine. As for rest, they were Biberal and Linoone; they were on it mostly because of HM purposes.

I truly love my Zapdos, to be honest; although it might not precisely be IV-bred (actually, it's not possible to breed legendaries, is it?) or have been EV-trained, but he Pokémon still happened to make a decent crew-member, thankfully. Its defensive stats are generally high, allowing it to endure a good amount of hits. On top of this, it also seemed to have had access to some great moves.

As for my latest Platinum play-through, I've had Torterra on my team, if I remember right (wound up choosing Turtwig as my starter Pokémon), as well as Gliscor, Skarmory, Scizor, Smeargle (was fun to use!), and Biberal (due to same reason as HeartGold; this Pokémon could learn a lot of HMs, making it very helpful in-game).

On Diamond(still playing through) : Empoleon, Bibarel, Crobat, Floatzel, Rampardos, and Blissey.
1 No Bibarel is not an HM Slave, I just have a habit of catching the first thing I see, qhether it be Pidgey, Lilipup or.... Bidoof.
2 I know we are very weak against Electric but I'm one of those 'play witg what you like' people.

Planned SoulSilver team(buying soon) : Feraligatr, Noctowl, Crobat, Gengar, Togekiss, and Umbreon.
1 Once again very weak to Electirc but these mean a lot to me.
2 I started a Silver game with a level 15 Totodile(my brother started the game and that was all that was on there) and I beat the League with Furo the Feraligatr, Nono the Noctowl, Catia the Crobat, Toto the Togetic, Gego the Haunter and Uoho the Umbreon, and after we beat Red the tablet(t'was a rom) broke and I wabt my team back and fully evolved. ~

I remember how amazing my original Diamond team was, I almost beat the number 1 rated player in Mexico (back then, of course) with the team I had. It consisted of:
Infernape
Lucario
Gallade
Gyarados
Staraptor
Alakazam (from Fire Red)

Almost nobody could beat the team despite a couple shared weaknesses.

My most recent team in a run through Platinum was:
Torterra
Staraptor
Rapidash
Electabuzz
Gyarados
Azelf

xP Yes, I used a legendary. Which I usually don't use, but I wanted to for this run. Surprisingly, I didn't even need to use it in my battle against Cynthia- 6 Dragon Dances on Gyarados and a lot of Full Restores did the trick xD
