The Fourth Generation brought us a wide array of Gym Leaders, 21 to be exact! Out of this great variety, who is your favourite? Do you prefer the Johto Gym Leaders, or were the newly introduced Sinnoh Leaders your favourites? Why?

While I like all the Gym Leaders, my vote (for this poll) goes to the Sinnoh Gym Leaders. Compare to the 2 other regions, the Leaders from the Sinnoh region have more screen time , thus we get to know them more, personally. Platinum version even took this to an another level, for example Maylene can be seen traveling to the Snowpoint City, Wake visiting Maylene's Gym, tje friendship between Volkner and Flint, and so on! Therefore the Sinnoh troops have won my vote. ^_^

Sinnoh Gym Leaders are probably my overall favourite Gym Leaders. There's just something about them which really does take the cake for me. I've always found their dialogue more interesting than Gym Leaders of other regions as well as some of their back stories. Another reason I like them so much is their design; the way they look fits so well with their specialist type and I like how similar some of them look to a Pokemon in their roster. Most of these things are probably the biggest factors in this scenario, as well as the Pokemon they use of course, and they are all very good so Sinnoh Gym Leaders are right at the top of my list.

While there was strong Gym Leaders all around in this generation, my vote went to Sinnoh's Gym Leaders as well. They all used some strong Pokemon, and while their DP teams weren't that great, Platinum made them better and more challenging.

Combo-breaker!
I prefer Johto's. I think the whole idea of "one has a vantage over the next one is amazing. If only they were smart enough to make Whitney a Darkney (...) it'd be completely awesome. Besides, except by Bugsy, they have personality. Sinnoh gym leaders, except by a few, was boring as hell to me and whenever I was about to face one I was bored. I love Sinnoh, but this was a fact to me.

EDIT: SOMEHOW I SAID KANTO

Can't decide. :P Johto's gym leaders were challenging and I liked most of their designs. Sinnoh's gym leaders were more involved, like what the previous posters said. Kanto's gym leaders had a sort of charm to them that's hard to explain. If I had to pick one set, then it's probably going to be Johto.

I feel that HGSS had improved on Gym Leaders from GSC. There were only three back in 2nd gen in the Johto region who did anything notable - Jasmine was one with her staying at the Lighthouse to care for the sick Pokemon, which was a pretty nice thing. A pity that the other two examples were Whitney (crying upon losing) and Clair) refusing to accept defeat and making you perform an additional challenge)... not a great example they were setting. The others were cooped in their Gyms.

HGSS however gave each of them appearances outside of their Gyms postgame. You can rebattle them, call them to get some new info about their lives, or even have them call you to say something. That's on top of a few other appearances (photos for getting their number, other interactions e.g. Janine and Falkner). And even before the E4 Whitney shows off the Pokeathlon to you.

I feel that compared to that, theSinnoh Gym Leaders don't actually have much more screen time overall. Certainly there may be more who show up before the E4 outside their Gyms (Maylene does in the snow, Gardenia tells you about spooky ghosts in the mansion, CRASHER WAKE in Platinum with the bomb, and Volkner being all angsty while abusing the city's energy supply.) Hearthome's Gym Leader does do contests as well I suppose, although that's a lot of contests before you would be able to fight her in that format. But all up they don't differ too much. Mind you, HGSS did include some Sinnoh Gym Leaders too (while DPPt only had Jasmine).

Gotta side with the HGSS Gym Leaders though, but that's partly nostalgia talking. DPPt did do Gym Leaders better than any previous game by far - they felt more like real characters with more to do, and only fall behind BW in that regard. (A shame XY went backwards with this...)

Have to go with Johto, if we were only looking at their appearance in GSC I'd be going with the Sinnoh leaders, but in HGSS with the rematches and finding them away from their gyms and being able to call them I really did enjoy the Johto leaders more. Though to be fair I'm a bit biased as Johto was my favourite region. Second would Kanto, but it only just beats the Sinnoh leaders based on nostalgia.
