this is a gen 4 rmt, please realize that before you rate.

Hello everyone! My first RMT in quite some time is still not a 5th Gen RMT. I just can"t adapt to 5th Gen and with me playing RBY for SPL I don"t really have any time to learn it. I have been DPPing a bit (mostly in practice matches) and I dusted off this team which was my favorite team I"ve made. The idea of the team is to clear out Gyarados counters and let Gyarados sweep. It does pretty well and I try to use sets that aren"t that common to catch whomever I"m playing off guard. This team is mostly for tournaments so I"m not planning on taking to the ladder (not that the DPP ladder is active) so I don"t really need tips on that.

@ Shuca Berry
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Explosion
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock

Heatran was always my favorite lead in DPP and quite honestly one of my favorite Pokemon of the generation. Strong and durable, he can take a hit and dish out damage at the same time. Sets up Stealth Rock against the most common leads with relative ease. Earth Power is for other Heatrans and Tyranitars (not that I"m likely to leave him in against Tyranitar but you get the point). Fire Blast handles Metagross Leads that aren"t holding Occa Berries and fends off others and deals a respectable amount of damage. Explosion is to just deal a huge chunk of damage to something.

@ Iron Ball
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Explosion
- Meteor Mash
- Trick

If I had to describe Metagross and how amazing he is, I think I would be at a loss for words. Metagross is the bread and butter to this team. Able to take out Rotom formes and at the very least cripple them by eliminating Levitate and also makes a decent way to get rid of Skarmory (even Skarms dont like Earthquakes). Adamant nature just lets him wreck everything that comes in on it. Slow speed also helps against Trick Room teams (albeit not very common but still annoying). Earthquake for other Steels and Electrics. Meteor Mash for everything else. It"s not the best Metagross set by far, but it really helps this team by being a reliable way to take out Rotom formes.

@ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Waterfall

Oh, Gyarados. I love you. Dragon Dance Gyara is one of the most fearsome sweepers that DPP has known. I went with a bulkier set and Leftovers so that I could take hits better from NVE Choice Band attacks (looking at you Scizor). Waterfall + Stone Edge + Earthquake hits just about everything. Not much to say really, I love this guy a lot. I don"t use a Life Orb because I find that teams with Tyranitar tend to be harder for me to sweep with because I lose 16% with every attack + 25% from Stealth Rock only gives me like 3 turns to actually attack.

@ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Outrage
- U-turn

Poor mans Garchomp. A really reliable revenge killer though. Fire Blast hits Skarmory and Forry and various other steels. Earthquake is a good STAB move that has solid coverage. Rather weak but an excellent scouting pokemon and a decent revenge killer. U-Turn is for scouting and making prediction easier. I know I have Fire Blast and a -SAtk nature, but it"s just there really to fend off steels, not OHKO them. I tend to play pretty aggressively with Flygon, despite him being rather frail and this tends to cause me to lose him early on which can come back to bite me later on. Only problem is that there isn"t really a better revenge killer than him that can fill the same niche I need to.

@ Choice Specs
Trait: Sniper
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SpA /216 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Hydro Pump
- Surf

SpecsDra is and always was probably the most underrated Pokemon ever. Specs Draco Meteor can OHKO Blissey with a crit (after SR damage). The even more amazing thing about this set is that it requires only two types of coverage. Dragon and Water. It"s so simple, yet so effective. It"s amazing really. Pretty much just Draco Meteor everything that switches in and then late game stick to Surf or Dragon Pulse depending on whats left. Most people don"t see Specs coming and assume it"s some sort of mixed set or a DD set. Specs is great for catching your opponent off guard.

@ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Rest
- Seed Flare

Shaymin is really annoying but quite good. Also rather underrated. Seed Flare really is amazing with its SpD drop chance. Rest with Natural Cure increases durability. Earth Power is for Heatran, Metagross and Jirachi. Hidden Power Fire is mostly for Skarmory and Scizor but I"m considering changing it to Hidden Power Ice for Dragonite. I had Celebi for a while, but I just didn"t like the fact that it got mauled pretty badly by Tyranitar and, while it did have Recover, it didn"t have the offensive power I looked for in Seed Flare.

Conclusion:

So that"s my team. Have at it. It"s not the greatest team I"ve ever made, but it"s pretty effective (especially in Tournament situations which is almost all I ever play anymore). Hmmm, I can"t think of anything else to say, thanks for reading. I"m not gonna do a threat list but I did notice the lack of a spinner is kind of rough sometimes, but I can"t find a place for it to go. http://fapoker.net/

Only thing id say is slap Taunt on Gyarados, that set is too weak with hardly any attack evs so you might find more chances to set up with Taunt > EQ. Also helps against stall a little.

Other than that not really many problems, looks like a fun decent team. Careful with stall though. Forry can Spike on Metagross and Flygon locked into something stupid pretty easily and also Kingdra locked into dragon moves which will wear your team down fast, even 1 layer. Plus SR hinders Gyarados obviously. Starmie might work over Kingdra if you find yourself struggling with hazards @ LO Spin and im aware Iron Ball lures in Rotom for a Gyara sweep with DD EQ, however LO Starmie lures in Rotom too looking to block spin so yeah. Thats another route.

Up to you though, good luck.

I was considering Taunt on Gyara I just wasn't sure what to replace. I do have some problems with Spikes and Stall in general due to my lack of a Spinner and was considering Starmie over Kingdra but I'm not sure how much I'll miss the Specs power. I'll give it a shot though. Thanks for the rate. :)
