SOULBOND

[a id]story[/a id]
STORY

"Pokémon. No one knows where they came from, or why. And no one questions it. In times long past, our great ancestors discovered the Forest of Spirits, where the first Pokémon were said to have originated. Since then, Fuchsia City became the start of many individuals' journeys. It didn't take long for a tradition to form; Children, from ages five to ten, are sent into the Forest of Spirits alone, to find their Pokémon with whom they are spiritually connected to. Pokémon and Humans seem to have a special bond, which we've named 'Soulbond'."

"Scientists have done their best to research this mysterious bond, but cannot figure out just why it happens. We do know that pain is shared between the Human and Pokémon, and that we can speak with them through our thoughts. It sounds amazing, right? It would be, if everyone had a Soulbond. Some people simply don't have Soulbonds, meaning not everyone has a Pokémon ally. As of late, though, some questionable characters in black and red garb have started showing up in Fuchsia and causing trouble..."

"When asked about their intentions, they'd merely reply, 'What's it to ya?' or 'Official Rocket business, now scram!' Curious, my father and I looked into it. News articles had started showing up around the time the suspicious black-and-red visitors did. It seems that some Pokémon have been reported missing by their Soulbonds, and all suspects have been described as wearing black uniforms with a large red 'R' on the chest. Little did we know, confronting the suspect visitors to Fuchsia caused a whole lot of craziness."

"Shortly after, these 'Rockets' began to show up in most every town and city in Kanto, causing all sorts of problems for everyone. Crime skyrocketed within a few days and you can't go anywhere in Kanto anymore without hearing about the Rockets. From robbing the PokéMarts, to taking Pokémon, to hostile takeovers, the Rockets have become a major crime syndicate all across Kanto, and we need strong, courageous Soulbonds to help take a stand, and clear the Rockets out of Kanto! Be careful, though; your Pokémon Soulbond is more valuable than you think."

"Sparring is a very common interest in those with a Soulbond. It keeps us active, healthy, and strong. It's also taught us a lot about Soulbonds. When either the Human or the Pokemon takes damage, so does their Soulbond. When one faints, so does the other. One cannot live without the other; if one dies, so does the other. These Soulbonds are just as dangerous as they are helpful. The souls of the two are forever intertwined, and simply cannot be separated without endangering both of them."

"As for those without their Soulbonds..." Janine uncrossed her legs before crossing them again the opposite way. "All those that reported their Soulbond missing either grew too weak to move, fell into a coma, or died." Adjusting her scarf, Janine rested her hand over her Soulbond, Ariados. "Sometimes all three, in that order. We believe that this is what happens when a Soulbond is separated for too long, though no scientist is willing to test it, for good reason. Anyway, you're here because we need young warriors willing to risk it all to put an end to the Rockets. I assume you're ready to go, if you've come here."

Rising from her seat, Janine pointed a finger outward, toward the group of young Soulbonds before her. "We've gotten word that the Tower of the Dead has seen a lot of Rocket activity, so unless you have any objections, we head for Lavender town immediately! We have a long walk there, so you can get acquainted with one another on the way. For now, follow me to route 15."

[a id]whoami[/a id]
WHO AM I?

You play as a Human Soulbonded with a Pokémon, who, upon seeing a flyer requesting help from Soulbonds within your age range, have headed to Fuchsia City to form a team against the Rockets. Upon arrival, Janine points you in the direction of the group. You will experience a journey throughout an alternate world's Kanto, while discovering the many ways it differs from the Kanto you may be used to. Your decisions made within the RP can and will have an impact on the story's ending. Technology is at the same point as it is in modern Pokémon games, though certain items like Pokéballs don't exist (obviously) since there are no wild Pokémon in this world. We'll be following a semi-linear path (meaning decisions will be involved) with events prepared and scattered all over with the potential to be triggered. We'll be travelling through most of Kanto, with some time in towns and cities for interaction between characters, personal character development, and even potential side-quests. If you have ideas for side-quests for your character (that may or may not involve other characters) feel free to PM me to see if it works.

[a id]synopsis[/a id]
SYNOPSIS

Soulbonds have gathered from all across Kanto to Fuchsia City's Gym, where Janine has called them to fight against a new threat. By boat, train, Pokémon or foot, the Soulbonds have met up with the group. Sabre show up at the last second, and now leads the group to Route 15 as they aim to reach Lavender Town.

[a id]map[/a id]
MAP

Be aware that some areas or places may not be the same as the map shows, since this is an alternate Kanto. For example, the Safari Zone is now the Forest of Spirits, meaning it's a dense, deep forest, instead of marshland.

[a id]rules[/a id]
RULES

Note that all PokéCommunity Rules and Roleplay Corner Rules apply. If you're not up to date on the rules, you can find the Forum Rules HERE and the Roleplay Rules HERE. Don't worry, they'll open in a new tab! The following rules apply to this roleplay specifically.

  1. This Roleplay is rated T, for roleplayers 13 and up. Death is a large and frequent aspect to this RP, and may not be suitable for the faint of heart. Blood is allowed, but should not be taken to grotesque levels. Romance is also allowed, but like any other RP, should not be taken to inappropriate levels. If you feel your character must initiate "the act", do so behind closed doors, and put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the doorknob. (That means don't actually make a post about it)
  2. Active posting is a necessity to keep the RP alive and exciting. If you are unable to post and know beforehand, please let me know personally or in the OOC thread. If you haven't posted in a week, I'll check in on you. If you haven't posted in two weeks, your character will be suspended, and can be brought back when you feel you're able to post regularly again. This can be avoided by either letting me know beforehand if you're going to be inactive, or letting me know why you've been unable to post.
  3. Sign-Ups will be accepted by quality and creativity of the character sheet. Also, be sure to include the secret word Soul at the bottom of your sheet, followed by another word of your choice. Just make a fleshed-out, interesting character!
  4. If you are unsure of something to do with this RP, send me a Visitor or Private Message and I'll do my best to help you as best as I can. If you have questions about the forum or roleplay rules, be sure to contact a Moderator (Like Skymin, our resident Roleplay Corner Mod).
  5. Do try to have fun! The Roleplay Corner is a wonderful, friendly place, and we can all get along really well. I made the RP half-journey, half-sandbox so that you all can plan your own individual stories for your characters and develop them by interacting with one another. I'm only leading this plot half of the time, meaning you guys all help create the story as it progresses!
  6. It's a given, but follow the rules. Punishments will be dealt fairly but firmly, and I may have to get Skymin involved if necessary. Let's hope it doesn't get to that point.
  7. ... Oh, were you expecting an actual rule here? Nah, nah... I just really enjoy the number seven.

Character Name: Dakota Winters
Sex: Male
Age: 18

Appearance: Dakota is a rather tall young lad, coming in at a height of 6'1", accompanied by a rather average build and weight. His shoulders are rather broad while his arms have a little bit of tone and muscle on them, though he wouldn't exactly be referred to as "buff". He has bright blonde hair which comes down to just above his shoulder and a feathered side fringe which skims over his right eye. However, most of his hair is hidden under a white and black bandanna which is tied back just behind his neck with a silver clip. His eyes are a bright shade of blue that show a light of innocence in his character. He has a bit of a baby face as well and a rather soft, gentle smile reflecting his naivety and carefree nature. There is a circular lip piercing on both sides of his lower lip as well as a Seviper serpent earring which goes from the top of his left ear to the bottom, showing a slightly rebellious side under the naïve façade.

Dakota's style of dressing would be considered in the smart-casual genre. He normally likes to wear a white shirt covered by a dark grey waistcoat with black lining. His lower half would usually be covered with black skinny jeans and accompanied by a pair of silver converse styled shoes.

Personality: Although carefree and a little naïve, Dakota is rather aloof and has a tendency to spend a lot of his time alone with his Ninetails. Normally, this is not by choice. Among small numbers, he can be considered rather sociable and talkative, however, among the larger crowds he withdraws into himself, becomes socially awkward and intimidated. It is easier for him just to remain on his own, to keep his distance from the other youngsters in Cerulean city. Nonetheless, he doesn't overly mind. He enjoys spending time with Angel, his Ninetails. During the day they would normally spend their time up in route twenty four, playing hide and seek in among the tall grass, climbing the trees and sometimes exploring the area, trying to find something new and exciting. He never strays far from the side of his pokémon. Dakota is very attached to his fire vixen. He loves her more than anyone else in the world and feels overly protective of her. They spend their afternoons playing together, and their nights starring up at the stars, talking about the wonders of their world and their dreams of exploring it together.

For an eighteen year old young man, he is very playful and a little childish. He doesn't really act his age but that is mainly because he doesn't know many that are his age. He never felt like he belonged with the other teenagers, he just felt too different to fit in. It isn't his fault though. He lives a very sheltered life in Cerulean city. His parents are very protective of him and aren't too fond of him straying too far, alone, from the city even if he is with his dear Angel. Regardless of this, he is very curious of the outside world. He has a passion for fantasises and myths which has given him an enchanted view of the world around him. He isn't aware of the evil lurking in the shadows, or in people, at least not yet.

Despite his jovial nature, there is a dark under layer to his personality, one which does not show often. He has a temper which, when unleashed, can not be calmed for love nor money. It takes a lot to get Dakota angry, as he is a very calm and laid back individual, but when he is, he can be rather aggressive and nasty. Thankfully, he has only ever been in such a state maybe three times in his life, though it is not a state of mind he likes to be in.

History: Dakota was born and raised in Cerulean city and is the youngest of two sons. His older, Blaze, is eleven years older than him and is his main human source of council and information about the world. Their parents are merchants and own their own pokémart in the city. Originally they wanted both their sons to take over the shop when they retired, however, that dream changed when Blaze joined the police force when he was nineteen years of age. He didn't want a simple life, he wanted to help people and make a difference. Also, he didn't want his little brother to be subjected to such a dull life as well.

On the eve of Dakota's ninth birthday, Blaze took him down to Fuchsia city to see if he could find a pokémon for life. Naturally, the thought of going into a scary forest completely on his own terrified the young Dakota, but his curiosity got the better of him and he entered to see if he could be lucky enough to find a pokémon that he would be bound to for life. It took a number of hours though eventually he emerged from the deep, dark forest and in his arms lay a rather tired but happy little Vulpix. Dakota named her Angel, simply because she looked like an innocent little angel.
When Angel was brought home it took her awhile to settle in, she was restless and eager to see and explore the world, Dakota could feel it too but there was nothing he could do about it. He just watched helplessly as she jumped up onto the windowsills, pawing at the window with her little ears perked up and flickering. For her sake, he did ask his mother if they could go out together, have a little adventure of their own, but she insisted they were far too young, and it was getting late anyway. So, for now they both had to stay put, nonetheless, Dakota promised Angel they would not stay here forever. They would get out of here one day, when they were ready.

As the two grew up together they did play a lot to occupy their time. When they were young they spent a lot of their time over at route four where they would run in the tall grass, climb the little hills and mountains and even sometimes, when they felt brave enough, tried to explore the entrance to Mt Moon. Nevertheless, for a young boy and Pokémon the cave was deemed to dark and scary, so they didn't venture there often. Through their little adventures together Dakota was starting to learn both the blessings and the curse of being Spellbound to a Pokémon. Through their playing he was lavished with feelings of joy and excitement, feeling a real connection and a real sense of belonging with his Pokémon. However, when they felt confident enough to start battling, he started to feel the pain as well. It wasn't until after Dakota turned twelve, both Pokémon and boy believe they were confident enough to spar with the others. They had managed to practice a few moves and techniques when they played together on the small hills, but battling seemed to be a whole new playing field. Thankfully, the travellers that Dakota normally asked (as he wasn't too fond of the others that lived here) did take it easy on them when they sparred together, it wasn't fair to use your full force on someone so young and inexperienced after all, at least until they got the gist of things. He learnt a lot from these travellers, ways to bond with your Pokémon through battle, ways to cope with the pain and ways to strive even in defeat. Each one he had met along the routes around Cerulean city brought something new to the table and gave the young Dakota a different perspective of things.

They trained like this for the next few years, sparring with the travellers and taking things as far as they could. As you would expect they didn't win often but that was not what they were after, it was experience they craved. They wanted to be able to see how far they could push things before it got too bad. Fainting was the last thing that any Pokémon or human wanted to experience, but it did happen from time to time and it was never an easy thing to wake up from. Overall, the experience was worth it. A few months after Dakota's fourteenth birthday Vulpix evolved into a beautiful Ninetails. It was like being awarded a shiny gold medal for putting up with all the fights that they had been through, the crown jewel of their training.
Things seemed to have calmed from then on. They didn't feel any need to prove themselves or to fight as much anymore, they had achieved their own goals and only sparred with the other trainers for a bit of fun every now and again, trying not to take things too seriously at least. So, things were tranquil in their own little world... until one afternoon. The two of them were just returning home from a quiet day when all of a sudden two men in black uniforms ran out of the shop. They both had a red "R" on their chest, what it was a symbol for, however, Dakota had no idea. The two men were carrying bags full of goods and running as fast as they could away. This could only mean trouble. Dakota sprinted to the pokémart as fast as he could, just to see his mother on the floor crying. His father was behind her, comforting her and trying to calm her. The counter had been smashed and some of the merchandise had been taken. Dakota was furious. He couldn't believe someone could do this, he didn't understand why someone would do this. His father told him to go to the police station, to get his older brother and see if something could be done. So, Dakota didn't hesitate. He ran as fast as he could, with Angel by his side, and sprinted towards the police station.

Officers had already arrived at the shop, but Dakota remained at the station, waiting for his brother so they could leave together. However, as he waited in the lobby he noticed a flyer pinned up on the information board. Normally he would take no notice but something was calling out to him, attracting him to read it. So, he did. It was for Soulbounds, someone like him, and it was to stand up and fight against Team Rocket. Team Rocket. Were those the men that attacked the store? It seems someone was certainly trying to cause trouble in the peaceful region of Kanto.. but if these were the same men that attacked the store Dakota would have revenge. He was furious, not an emotion he could control very well. So, he went home, packed his bags and left for Fuchsia city. He had not been there, or even left Cerulean in nine years.. but he couldn't let these people get away with such a thing. He needed answers, it wasn't just his curiosity that needed satisfied this time, he wanted his turn to make a difference. This seemed like the best way.

:t038:

Pokémon: Ninetails
Name: Angel
Sex: Female

Appearance: On her fringe there are tips of amber at the end, much like the ones on her tail.

Personality: Around Dakota, Angel is very playful and joyous. She loves to roll around in the grass, play with her trainer, sometimes even tackling him to the ground and tickling him with her tail, but she can also be very serious and docile as well. She enjoys starring up at the stars twinkling in the night, so full of beauty and wonder. Although she is like this with Dakota she isn't overly fond of other humans. She is very shy and docile, keeping her distance and watching carefully. However, if a stranger was to get to close she would become rather protective of her trainer. She doesn't have much experience with other humans outside the Winters' family and therefore is unsure of whether to judge them as friend or foe. She is more sceptical and less trustworthy than her trainer.

Opening Post: Fuchsia city, a place of wonder and enchantment. It was a beautiful sight to take in as the train pulled up into the station. It had changed a lot from nine years ago, when Dakota had first ventured here, but it was still probably one of the most extraordinary places in the Kanto region, as the Forest of Spirits lingered close by. It gave the environment an air of mystery and wonder, however, it didn't feel as magical or captivating as it had all those years ago when he had visited with his older brother. Something was off.

As the train doors opened, Dakota was actually a little unsure if he wanted to step off or not. He could still turn back, return home and just try and pick up the pieces, but maybe that would be a little selfish. He had to admit he was very nervous about this. He was so far away from home, with nothing but his own judgement to guide him. For Dakota, that was a chilling thought. This city was nothing like Cerulean city. It was so much bigger, and felt so much more threatening. Though, new things and different things were always considered disturbing and what not until you got used to them. He just couldn't decide if he wanted to get used to it or not. It was only until Angel actually nudged him out the door that a decision was finally made and they both stood on the platform.

Dakota remained still as his sapphire irises scanned the scenery around him. He could see people, just going about their daily lives, nothing strange or scary about that. However, there was a slight mask of tension in the air. The same sort of tension he felt around the shop after those thugs left it. They must have had quite an impact around here too. It certainly didn't feel safe. He could feel his muscles clenching up at the thought of seeing those people again. He hoped he wouldn't have to. Angel on the other hand was far more curious than worried. She had scampered a few feet forward, her muzzle pointed towards the sky as she inhaled the scents of the city, hoping to grow accustomed to their new surroundings as she couldn't quite remember much about this place from her youth.

Still, her excitement was brewing. Her tails were swishing from side to side gleefully as her crimson optics starred into the depth of the city. She was beginning to grow restless as an adventure was sitting right at her paw steps. Dakota could feel it too and it was putting him at ease, at least a little bit. If Angel wasn't worried then there was no reason for him to be, they were safe as long as they were together.

Dakota-"Well, I suppose we may as well check this place out. See what happens at the very least."

He spoke with a smile, looking down at his Ninetails as she cheerfully howled back while pawing at the ground ecstatically and then gazed up at him with her big, beautiful eyes. She was raring to get going, and Dakota supposed he was ready to get started seeing as how merry his fire vixen was. So, he swiftly swept his blonde fringe out of his eyes and tied his bandanna tightly at the back before setting off into the heart of Fuchsia city.

The two followed the flyers directions to the letter and eventually came across their meeting place. It seemed others had already arrived, but not wanting to intrude too much, both pokémon and man sat at the back in the meeting room, not wanting to draw too much attention to themselves. Dakota took his seat first, leaning back against the chair and just taking a moment to breathe. He was still trying to get over the fact he had finally left home, after all these years he was finally living a little. It brought quite the little smirk to his lips. Angel soon propped herself up and made herself comfortable. She had decided she not only wanted a seat for herself, but wanted to lie against Dakota too! So, with her back paws and tail happily resting on one chair, she then set her front paws and head on Dakota's lap. Not only to make herself comfortable but to get a little fuss and attention too. It made the next few minutes pass by a little quicker for her at least as everyone arrived and took their place. What was to come next was certainly not a story he had been expecting.

From the moment the young woman spoke, Dakota was completely enthralled into the story. He had always been fascinated by literature and the myths of their world, but this was something spectacular. He didn't know much of the origins of pokémons, so it was just incredible to be learning all this from such a lovely young lady. Then the story soon took a change of mood and things turned dark. The simple mention of those thugs made Dakota's blood boil. His fist clenched and he gritted his teeth tightly together. Even Angel growled a little, feeling her friends anger as well as her own. It wasn't a great combination. It seemed these low lives were doing more than just stealing from shopkeepers. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with this! It wasn't right! There was no reason for people to be so cruel. To think how naïve Dakota was to be surprised that people were capable of such things, and more.

It seemed he was all set for going, at least until the mention of the Tower of the Dead came into play. That drew him back slightly. His eyes widened and for a moment he had to remind himself to breathe. Lavender town was a frightening place. He had never been there himself, but the stories he had heard about the spirits that lived there, all the mysteries and rumours about the place, it was a terrifying thought to even think about venturing there. But yet, that's where they were heading off to. He had to ponder this a moment. Dakota raised a hand and rubbed his temple, closing his eyes and contemplating the options here. Go to Lavender town, or turn back. It seemed like an awful waste to just turn back from here. To anyone else it probably didn't seem like much just to travel to Fuchsia city, but to him it was quite a big step in gaining some independence. He couldn't let that go to waste. He glanced down to Angel, who whined softly in return. She lifted her muzzle and gently nuzzled it against his arm for comfort.

Dakota- "Maybe we'll give it a shot then. What's the worst that could happen?"

He smiled a little, giving his fire vixen a little pat on the head and a ruffled up her fringe. It seemed they were ready to go. They were a little anxious about the events that will come to pass, as I'm sure they weren't the only ones, but they were ready none the less.

Few things Cipher, and since this is fairly vital information, I'd advise everyone to read this:

There are no wild Pokemon. Pokemon are only found in the forest, and no one has seen a nonbonded Pokemon. Likewise, no one has ever seen a Pokemon in the forest unless it is the one they bond with.

The only collars in games are held items and Rocket Collars (Will be explained later in IC). Pokemon are never considered pets, excluding the Rockets and some less-than-morally-correct people.

The Gyms do operate like they do in normal games, to an extent, but people aren't called "trainers". Because the people are just as much a part of the battle (mentally, at least) as their bonds. People can choose to play for money, bets, or just sparring.

You can have the PokeMart backstory, though you may want to ask about something like that next time.

Character Name: Darcy StCloud
Sex: Female
Age: 16

Rjw37iD9cjY.jpg

Appearance: Darcy is around 5'4" and she's thinner and more spindly than most other girls her age. Her congenital heart defect left her bedridden for months at a time so her muscles aren't as developed as they should be. She has soft, fair skin and a mess of light brown hair atop her head. Her hair falls down past her shoulders and the tips have been tinted a bright orange for a personal flair. Her hazel eyes are usually hidden behind a pair of purple-rimmed glasses that she's constantly pushing back into place. She gets cold pretty easily so she's usually wearing a long-sleeved shirt or a jacket and long pants. Her favourite jacket is a faded olive green one that her dad bought her a few years ago.

Personality: Darcy has known since childhood how sad and harsh life can get, but instead of letting that get her down she tries her best to maintain a positive attitude in every situation. She is always smiling and trying to make others smile as well. Throughout her life she has seen so many people cry - cry for her, or beside her, or out of the room where they thought she wouldn't be able to hear - and she is sick of it. There are so many reasons to be happy and Darcy has made it her life's mission to help people see those reasons. She is an eager and upbeat girl who's always ready to make new friends.

However, her constant smile and upbeat energy is sometimes just a mask that she wears to cover up her weariness and weakness. Everyone has their bad days but Darcy chooses to hide them away instead of accepting them. Some days she wakes up exhausted and all she wants to do is curl up and read a book, but if she is invited out by her friends she will rarely refuse. Staying home would mean accepting her weakness and her disease. When she does have days alone in the house, Darcy loves to sit and relax in front of the fireplace, reading or playing music.

Darcy is an intellectual at heart and loves to soak up knowledge like a sponge. Science, history, math, art - she loves to learn everything about everything. However, music is where her heart truly lies. Spending countless days sitting in a hospital bed can get awfully boring so one day her mother brought in her old flute and taught Darcy the basics. (Her private room was slightly soundproof.) She has fallen more deeply in love with music every day since then and can now play the flute, violin, and piano. She particularly likes listening to classical music because of how beautiful and expressive it is, but listening to girly pop music every once in a while never hurt anyone.

History: Darcy was born sixteen years ago into a loving family living in the heart of Fuchsia City. Unfortunately she was born with a congenital heart defect that left her in the ICU for the first couple months of her life. Since then, she has been in and out of the hospital on numerous occasions. As a young child, Darcy was sick so often that her mother quit her job and withdrew her daughter from public school, choosing to homeschool her instead. This meant that Darcy didn't get to meet very many children her age since she was always at home or in the hospital. Nevertheless she understood that her mom was trying very hard so she tried her best not to complain. There were some nice kids in the children's ward that she could make friends with.

By the time Darcy was ten years old she had grown tired of being stuck at home so much. Sure, she sometimes went to the park or to the mall but she was always under the watchful eye of her mother or father. She was a big girl now and she hadn't been to the hospital in months - why couldn't she go to the park by herself? One day while her dad was at work and her mom was busy on the phone, she snuck out of the house and strolled around in the warm sunlight. For some reason or other Darcy found herself arriving near the Forest of Spirits, where kids from all over came to meet their Soulbond Pokemon. She had often entertained the idea of having a Soulbond but her parents had always said it was too dangerous for her to go there alone. But… the forest didn't look very scary. It looked all woodsy and calm. Without really thinking it through, Darcy walked into the Forest of Spirits without looking back.

The young girl quickly found herself lost in the woods as the night approached. The reality of her situation set in and she became more panicky as more time passed. Eventually the stress and exertion from so much walking got to her and she fell to her knees beneath a large tree. As Darcy sat there trying to catch her breath and slow her heart, a small teddy bear about half her height peeked its head out from behind the tree. It waddled over and pat her on the back, trying to comfort and calm her. The little bear stayed with her until her parents found her in the woods and has never left her side since then. Six years later, meeting that little Teddiursa for the first time is still Darcy's favourite memory.

Darcy became much happier once she met her best friend in the form of a walking, talking teddy bear. Both her attitude and her health improved and by the time she was twelve she was able to attend her first classes at Fuchsia City Middle School. Four years later and Darcy is a young, bright student at the local high school and Jericho is a huge 5'11" Ursaring. Recently they had both noticed a few strange people lurking around the city with large "R"s emblazoned on their chests. Everywhere the Rockets go, trouble seemed to follow and neither Darcy nor Jericho liked it one bit. When Darcy read that Janine was gathering the Soulbonds to fight against the Rockets she was eager to sign up and help undo the misery that came with the Rockets. Her parents pleaded with her not to go but her mind was already made up. "I promise I'll be careful," she told them. "Besides, no one will want to mess with the girl and her giant bear."

Pokémon: Ursaring
Name: Jericho
Sex: Male

Appearance: Jericho is a slightly darker brown than other Ursaring but he is otherwise the same.

Personality: As scary as Jericho may look on the exterior, on the inside he's the cuddly little Teddiursa that he's always been. He has a very relaxed personality and loves to take naps during the day while Darcy reclines on his fuzzy arm and plays him a lullaby. He is initially wary of strangers but once he is sure they're Darcy's friends then he opens up. He can always sense if Darcy is tired or in pain and will stand nearby so she can lean on him if necessary. If another person or pokemon shows any sort of hostility towards Darcy, Jericho will immediately go on the defensive and begin to snarl and growl. He will not tolerate his best friend being bullied or getting hurt.

Opening Post: (Write out your first post, introducing your character as well as showing your writing skills. This is a crucial part to the sign-up sheet, so do your best to impress! Write about your character's travel with his/her Soulbond, their arrival at Fuchsia and their response to Janine's introduction. This post can also be used as your first post in the IC!)

You're marked with a reserve, until January 4th. I like your character picture!

Thank you, Dusk. I have fixed up the history a bit and hopefully it's alright now :) If there is anything else that is out of place or anything do let me know and I'll amend it. Then i'll start on the first post.
Oh and sorry about the back story, though, thought having the whole Pokémart thing would be the easiest way to tie the story in together. I'll make sure to ask about that next time round!

Looks good to me! This isn't really an issue, but the fact that you used "spellbound" instead of "soulbond" sort of threw me off momentarily.

Go ahead and work on your opening post, and let me know when you're finished.

Can reserve? I will get my su up soon
Of course! Your reserve lasts until the 5th.

Sabre

Confusingly Eccentric

Chapter N ― Part N
"The Humble Protagonist"

Fuchsia Gym
x
.

Character Name: ???? ?????
Nickname: Sabre
Sex: Male
Age: 18

d77zTEk.png
Appearance: While Sabre does not reveal much of his appearance, this much can be seen from first glance: He stands at roughly six feet high, with a fit, lean muscular build (meaning he may look a bit thin, but he has muscle hidden underneath) and roughened light skin. Those who have gotten a good look at his face can see that he has medium-length gray hair, deep red eyes, scars along his jaw line, a small, chiseled nose, and a devilish grin. He generally wears average-looking clothes that include desert-tan or mellow black, almost always a denim jacket (the collar flipped upward to help conceal his face) with nothing underneath, matching black or tan jeans with many tears along the lower legs and knees, steel-toed black boots, and his signature gray-white cap & bandana combo. He always wears wrist braces, chains, and a necklace. Beyond this, Sabre has many more scars along his body, almost all of which are hidden beneath his clothing. His canine teeth are sharper than average, adding to the intrigue of his grin. While he's active and fit, he's also surprisingly underfed. Beneath his jacket, his ribs remain visible and his stomach does not protrude outward at all. This is mainly to do with how little money he has on him, which he often spends on healing himself and his ally more than he worries about eating. His posture is exceptional... In battle. When outside of battle, he slouches quite a bit.

Personality: Sabre is, of all the cards in the deck, the Joker. He can't and won't hesitate to make a wise crack or a sarcastic retort. He finds some things funny that normally others wouldn't (Call it his twisted sense of humor) and his laugh sounds sadistic and some might even think him evil, though he only likes to have a good time. He will actually go to great extents to find excitement or stir up trouble, often leaving him labeled as a troublemaker or an ass. He doesn't mind it, though, in fact, he's fueled and encouraged by everyone else's disdain, hatred and labels. He's not necessarily hard to befriend, but finding someone who would willingly befriend him is another story entirely. He can generally say cruel, insulting, disgusting or horrifying things casually, and though he most often does not mean them, people will often assume he does. He does this, as he enjoys testing the limits and emotions of others. He's very curious and won't hesitate to approach a situation he finds interesting, no matter how wild or hazardous it may be. Around others, he's seen as pestering, creepy and mysterious. In fact, this entire personality would take forever to write, as he is very much a wild card and a lot of the things he does can be unpredictable. Nor can any of his decisions and quirks be explained by any form of logic. Many people consider him to be mentally unfit to live in the world alongside others. However, he is very much sane, despite his actions. He has an inseparable bond with his Honedge (In many more ways than one) and treats the Honedge as if they were brothers. While his Pokemon's personality and his own are stark opposites, they still seem to get along well, albeit with disagreements. Sabre is also incredibly romantic, though his efforts are wasted on random women rather than any one specific love interest.

History: Sabre lived a generally calm and quiet life in the upper class in Celadon City. However, Sabre did not enjoy this life. He found it dull, easy, and without any intrigue. At ten, his wealthy parents bought him a round trip to Fuchsia so he could get his Soulbond. However, he sought adventure, he sought challenge, he sought fantastical battles where he, as a lone swordsman, could take on and defeat any foe before him. He wanted to experience the world as if it was one of the many storybooks he'd read as a child! So, at the ripe old age of ten, he set off on his own adventure, hoping to make something great of himself, choosing not to take the trip back and instead try to take on the world alone. Many years passed, travelling much of Kanto's less-populated areas, by foot, boat, train, and whatever lay at his disposal. He didn't get to find his storybook ending anywhere, though he had many great experiences. He fought in random sparring matches, and official battles in a few of the gyms (though a lot of them did not approve of his method of fighting), and anyone he could find that either disapproved of him, he disapproved of them, or someone who he saw as a challenge. He had many wins and losses, but those battles trained him as well as his Pokemon, as well as donned him in his scars, each of which has a story to tell. He enjoyed most all of his rough life on his own, making just enough money to get by. Finally, he found a calling. A flyer notified him of the rise of the Rockets, and the desire to fight them off. Finally, a story worth chasing! Sabre, hoping to be the hero in this story, eagerly began his new journey, knowing not what he would soon be getting himself into.

Pokémon: Honedge
Name: Hidachi
Sex: Male

Appearance: Not much differs Hidachi from other Honedge besides his shiny coloration, his noble and sometimes intimidating aura, and some well-taken-care-of rips in the hand-like appendage. All of these tears were sewn or stitched back together, making them generally hard to notice.

Personality: Hidachi's personality is in stark contrast with Sabre's, in that he is not as much of a risk-taker unless he feels it is right for him to do so. While Sabre runs openly into dangerous situations, Hidachi is the calm and collected half of the pair. He gives Sabre countless pieces of valuable advice and does his best to steer Sabre in the right direction. This leads to many an argument, but no matter how much they conflict, they always get along in the end. It's one of those odd combinations that works well for reasons no one can understand. Hidachi is relatively neutral to strangers, but has the capacity to be friendly. His impressions of others rely heavily on the morality of their decisions and goals.

Congratulations, you're accepted!

Don't forget to get your sign-ups completed, guys! The holday-ish reserves end in a few days!

I think I'll work on getting the IC up once we have at least four more accepted characters.

I know, Sapph.

So, do you guys have any questions about anything? I know the reserves are dissolving soon, but considering the still open spots, they probably won't matter. Just be sure to ask if you have any questions, guys! I may actually recommend you all do as Cipher did, and have me check your sign-up before doing the opening post. That way, if there's anything that needs fixing, we can get it out of the way beforehand so you don't have to redo your intro post too.

Dusk, you made a mistake there.

xCipherx's character has a Ninetails, not an Arcanine c; Lilith has an Arcanine.
