ONE PIECE

RAIDERS OF THE GRAND LINE

RATED T FOR TOTALLY AWESOME

Background

The era of pirates is never over. Gol D. Roger's famed treasure, the One Piece, has gone unclaimed for 90 years. The end of the Grand Line still eludes many sailors, but the existence of the One Piece has come in to question to the extent that few believe it exists, dissuaded from the hunt for the legendary treasure. The World Government has become ever more powerful, representing more nations, conquering others, and expanding the influence of the Marines, including more bases worldwide, although the bulk of military strength still resides within the Grand Line. The Revolutionary Army has been pushed back and no longer has the might to involve itself directly in the politics of nations, and as such has become an underground terrorist organization, targeting primarily World Government affiliates. Piracy has become less about pursuing dreams and plundering the wealth of coastal towns and more about escaping the ever increasing tyrannical rule of the World Government. It's without a doubt, however, that piracy has evolved into a more broad definition by the government's standards. Any unauthorized vessel at sea and her inhabitants are thus designated as pirates.

Even now though, the Grand Line draws sailors from all seas, whether they be no-good pillagers or desperate escapees trying to find refuge in the monster sea where the government, even with sea stone coated ships and log poses would struggle to track the movement of deserters. However, the Marines are shrewd indeed, creating blockades around the entrances and exits of Reverse Mountain, each commanded by a captain from headquarters, and a commodore heading up Marine Branch 50, also known as G-50, built upon the Twin Capes at the Grand Line's entrance. In addition, several marine bases have been established at key strategic points throughout the Grand Line, making the voyage across the Grand Line far more tumultuous than in the past for non-government sailors. It has thus been dubbed the Gauntlet of Liberty, a pathway towards freedom, where those lucky enough to ascend into the wild waters of the Grand Line's second half, the New World, reach a haven, weather aside, that even eludes the government's strongest forces: The Free World.

In these savage seas, the goals of many lie. So too does the government's interests lie here, as the power to cement its control over the world and to silence the rogues of the sea most definitely lies within the New World. The Revolutionary Army knows this, but it's on its last leg. Hope seems distant at best for the world, but perhaps a miracle can occur, as it has in the past, and from the most unlikely of sources.

Recently

A catastrophic event a mere month ago reverberated throughout the world, when the World Government discovered archaeologists who, although thought to be impossible since the events of Ohara a century ago, can read poneglyphs. As a result, the Buster Call was issued and the Marines in full force were sent to eliminate the nation, despite its affiliation with the World Government. However, the battle was fierce, as Latvanua, having been betrayed by the World Government did its best to defend against massive fleets of Marine warships. What was not meant to be a very controversial event, simply stomping out a defiant nation as would be reported to the rest of the world, blew up way out of proportion when a coup erupted within the ranks of the Marines when the fleets under the command of Vice Admirals Rhinan and Yolena, revealed to be undercover agents of the Revolutionary Army, were declared as traitors and sentenced to death by a second Buster Call, a larger one this time directed by an Admiral.

The situation only escalated throughout the East Blue, where the government was unable to contain the chaos that ensued. While news of poneglyph interpreters remained unknown, such a massive coup by a few undercover high ranking Marines threw the entire East Blue into chaos, as various Marines, both those at Latvanua and those outraged by the actions of high command defected from the World Government. Marines under the command of the defecting Vice Admirals were sentenced to the same fate as their officers, most of them were unaligned with the Revolutionary Army but were either killed or forced to go rogue, acting as the catalyst for mass desertion by Marine personnel. This proved to be a boon to the Revolutionary Army, boosting their ranks and enabling them to escalate their pressure on government forces. With the four seas in chaos, piracy exploded world wide, whether they be opportunists poised to profit from global unrest, rebels or dissenters of their governments seeking freedom, rioting criminals freed by the upheaval and escape to sea, citizens seeking peace from government persecution, or Marines who were discharged and sentenced to death for treason or deserters who had enough with the corruption of the World Government; all of these men and women take up arms, raise anchor and set sail for the greatest sea and the freest sea, the Grand Line.

Plot

With chaos unraveling throughout the seas, the Marines have been working non-stop to quell the sudden eruption of piracy. Ruedaya, although not too far from Latvanua, is surprisingly peaceful, a small, mountainous island that is also a trade hub and home to a self-sufficient people with little intervention from pirates or Marines. However, Ruedaya is also home to a marine base situated not too far from the bustling coastal city of Yewauna. The island also houses one of East Blue's highest security prisons in the island's mountainous interior. Although most marines here were called up to respond to the Buster Call, a few Marines and its commanding officer remained stationed at the base to oversee security and operations. However, nobody has heard from the Ruedaya Marines deployed to Latvanua since the chaos there unfolded.

Lately, Ruedaya has become a pit-stop for evacuees from chaotic countries and various rogues from the nearby seas. While it has remained mostly peaceful on the island, the citizens there remain uneasy about the conflict unfolding, although all they know about is the coup by a faction of the Marines and the intervention of the Revolutionary Army, of course painted as the enemy of the world and of peace. Having survived the Buster Call issued on her peers, one Marine officer has made landfall, seeking important people on the island for an important mission. Her motivations are similar yet different compared to the pirates and expatriates that have been making a beeline for the Grand Line. Only the strongest of mind, body, and spirit will suffice, as her aims are high.

You

Regardless of your background, you've found yourself on the island of Ruedaya. Your background is varied, but you are one of many: a traveler of sorts for whatever reason seeking adventure, an emigrant from your home country due to the tyranny or civil unrest seeking a new life on the open sea, a bounty hunter profiting from the ensuing chaos, a Marine deserter of some note, whether you arrived on Ruedaya after escaping the Latvanua Buster Call or from deserting your post elsewhere, arriving on your own or coming to the island after Latvanua with the Marine officer, an imprisoned criminal on the island locked up in the prison for committing a crime of some sort, whether the imprisonment was justified or not, a survivor of the Latvanua massacre who was taken to safety upon the escaping Marine officer's ship, a local, whether born on Ruedaya or not has made a living on the island until they've decided to take to the sea, or a noteworthy pirate who, for whatever reason, has chosen to pass through Ruedaya on their way to the Grand Line with their crew (joint application possibility here!) or solo and seeking a crew, you have big dreams and goals, or perhaps just have a taste for adventure, you're about to embark on an epic voyage, to the Grand Line! Each of you, over the course of events that occur on Ruedaya will ally together and sail as one crew, all with the same mission of penetrating the Grand Line, as pioneers of the reignited pirate era!

Occupation

Ultimately, the crew needs certain jobs filled, while the rest will be open occupation roles to be filled however one feels fit. You may even have the same job as someone else in the crew, minus of course the captain and first mate, as there can only be one of each!
Spoiler:
There are 12 available positions for crewmates, with 3 of them being up to the user's discretion as to what role they serve within the crew. However, I will likely begin the roleplay once I feel the essential crew positions are filled. More positions may open up in the future depending on popular demand.

Name:
Vane T. Edward

Title:
Sleeping Tiger

Age:
25

Race:
Human

Home:
Sunnyside Island, East Blue. A small island, Sunnyside is ironic in its naming, known notoriously for being a rather poor, slightly disorderly place to grow up, especially more recently. It is home to Miruike Forest, which has always been one of the main reasons for its dangerous reputation, home to all manner of dangerous and violent species. It used to be that the lone city was the only safe part of the island, but the recent flux of piracy changed that as well.

Occupation:
Crewmate/Fighter- No particular other occupation. The Tenth Crewmate? xD

Setting:
Traveler/Bounty Hunter/- Edward comes to Ruedaya on his path towards the Grand Line. He has heard rumors that someone on the island may have tried to claim themselves as a strong fighter, particularly the strongest on the island. Edward has come to test that claim. (Doesn't have to be true if it interferes with the plot)

Appearance:
Edward stands at 6 feet tall. He is a fit and well-built individual, being well apparent that he takes care of his body to the utmost care. His hair is jet-black and quite short, but is spiked in a backwards motion. His eyes are gold, or at least appear so. But others who look at them also notice a rather dull shade than the usually bright one expected with eyes such as that. If he ever did have bright eyes when he was younger, it certainly wasn't apparent anymore. His lips are rather thin and always closed, as hardly ever is he to reveal his fairly white teeth. His nose is also adequately proportioned to that of his face and head, neither being too big nor too small. Also noticeable on his face is a scar beginning at the corner of his left eye and traveling down across his cheek. Edward also has multiple other scars across his body, including three seeming to be in a pattern on his forearm, a rather large one beginning at the top of his shoulder blade and slashing across his chest diagonally, ending close to the middle of his front body, and one more in an 'X' mark on the upper left corner of his back. The degree across his body is the result of years of fighting he had put himself through.

However, for the most part, most of the scars are hidden because of his clothes. Edward wears a white, low-quality, long-sleeved linen shirt, to which he rolls up the sleeves to the elbows. He also sports over this a cotton waistcoat, whether it be black, brown, or red in color. He wears pants the same color of the waistcoat he has on. His shoes are nothing special, usually comfortable black or brown ones. Because of the large amount of fights he is in, a lot of his clothing could be worn or torn. He usually has to buy new ones, always in the same sort of style.

Personality:
Edward's eyes alone could give you one description on his personality, but it may only be partially correct. Appearing dull and weary, Edward's eyes, to those observant enough to notice, give off the appearance of him being uninterested and apathetic. To an extent, it is true. He has long since been aloof and unconcerned of much that goes on around him. One might often catch him taking a nap, or perhaps staring off into the sky, counting clouds. It is often because little else among people piques his interest. His lack of interest can be translated into lethargy, and that also to an extent could be true, as he rarely wants to do much when he is in this state. He is often called cold-hearted in these moods, as he tends not to care really for anything it seems, perhaps even if someone were to drop dead in front of him. When in these moods, which is quite often, he usually dislikes talking with anyone at all, or really any kind of contact.

Then, there's another side of Edward; it is the one that comes out when he is about to get into a fight. Edward absolutely loves to fight. His personality almost seems to make a complete U-turn when he is challenged to a fight, whatever the circumstance. His lack of interest becomes passion, his eyes almost seeming to light up with flames themselves, as he devotes himself to the particular bout, until the contest is ended, one way or another. Edward adores fighting so much, it is rare that he would ever back down from one when challenged, unless an extremely unusual situation arises where he is unable to, or unwilling to. But that would be exceptionally rare. Because of his particular fighting style, however, fights aren't usually dragged out very long, them beginning explosively and then ending usually rather swiftly, one way or another. Once this occurs, Edward reverts back to his previous mood, waiting to be 'awoken' once more.

Because of his personality type, Edward respects others who takes fights as seriously as he does. He admires strength, whatever particular one that may be, and hold people who entertains him in fights, whether putting up a good challenge or managing to defeat him, in high regard.

It would be relatively impossible to make Edward angry, mainly because his personality doesn't usually give room for that. However, he can be provoked quite easily, especially at the mention of fighting, and strong fighters.

Goal:
Simply put, Edward wants to be known as the "strongest man in the world". He wants to be the physically most gifted, proficient than anyone else who walks on the earth or travels across the sea. He knows the bulk of those known as some of the strongest men reside in the Grand Line, which is why he travels there daily, besting anyone and everyone who tries to claim that title for themselves. His goal is to have his legacy written one day as himself being head and shoulders above the rest, until one day there would be no argument. This shouldn't be mistaken with the most proficient, most skilled, or greatest 'fighter'. His pursuit is strictly towards a more physically 'strongest' title.

Devil Fruit:
Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Tiger.

Weapons:
None, though Edward is quite skilled in hand to hand combat.

Powers:

The usage of the devil fruit allows Edward to gain more physical strength in his hybrid and full tiger form, which is very useful in his quest to become the strongest man in the world. His half-tiger form is quite large and powerful, but also quick. He combines these elements as well as his own hand to hand combat skill to be physically lethal. This is the extent of his powers now, but he has the immense potential to become ever stronger as time progresses.

Background:
Edward was born and raised on the turbulent Sunnyside Island. Not the most ideal of places to raise a child, but his mother raised him to the best of her abilities, his father having long gone to sea when he was a baby. Life was tough on Sunnyside, but despite the island's remoteness or seclusion, it didn't lack in things to do for children. The problem was, a lot of those things involved activities that were dangerous or criminal in nature, such as stealing, vandalism, or trespassing. Many kids often participated in these activities, and Edward, as a young boy, also did so, if only as an obligation to pass the time. Although truth be told, Edward found himself disliking most of the activities, regarding them as pointless, or a waste of time. When his mother found out that he was participating in such events, and urged him to stop, Edward obliged, partially because she asked, and partially because he really didn't want to do them in the first place.

One day, one of his former 'friends' he used to hang out with came to Edward, who was lazily watching the clouds. He wondered why Edward stopped hanging out with them, to which Edward didn't give much of a reply, which frustrated the kid, pushing Edward. At first, Edward just wanted to be left alone, not wishing to retaliate, but as the kid kept pushing, Edward lunged onto him and bashed on him. It was at this first fight in his life that he realized how much he enjoyed it. He wasn't sure why, but all he knew is he wanted to continue to brawl. And brawl he did. Whether when someone picked a fight, or he went looking for one, Edward never backed down from a fight. To top it off, he was very good at it too, never losing to other kids. Edward was so good, he was able to beat down kids older than him as well. Edward would often get in trouble for his fighting, but never stopped, no matter the punishment. He loved it too much. Thus Edward would periodically be called a lazy troublemaker, half of the time people would catch him laying about doing absolutely nothing, to which they had no problem, and the other half they would see him getting into some kind of fight. He wasn't sure why he was fighting either. He didn't have a purpose behind it. At least, not yet.

One day, when he was around 9 years old, he butt heads with another kid named Wright D. Morgan. The surprise of the fight was that not only was he able to stand up to Edward in a fight, but at the end of it, he was able to beat him. This stunned Edward, who hadn't lost a fight before. But instead of sulking over the loss, he was even more motivated from the defeat. He challenged Morgan to a fight again, and another after that, the two fighting each other continuously. However, these confrontations slowly began to evolve, and so had the relationship between Morgan and Edward. What started out as quite hostile became that of competing rivals, and from there, they eventually became good friends. Edward and Morgan would constantly hang out together, Edward often trying to test his limits against his friend, and the things they could do together. Edward always strived to become better, and Morgan constantly push him to that goal, and even raise the bar higher. They often snuck into Miruike Forest, which was probably the most dangerous part of the island. There, they fought beasts, endured the wild, and ran into numerous close calls. It was in these hazards that Edward gained a better perspective on his fighting ways, and what it meant to him. For a long time, he assumed he fought simply for the pleasure of fighting. But another realization occurred in him in which he recognized that he also fought to win, to prove he was better than anyone else. It was around this time that Edward acknowledged that he wanted to become the strongest man in the world, that he would hold this title above any other, and he would be recognized above all else with no equal. But he realized that in order to accomplish this, he would have to go beyond his home island. So he made a vow to leave Sunnyside when he was old enough, his destination was the Grand Line, where he would always hear stories about the strongest fighters. Morgan made his own vow around this time as well: Take down the World Government, expand piracy and live a truly free life. Together, they agreed to set sail when they were old enough, to depart on their own journeys and accomplish their dreams. And when Edward was 16, they did. They decided the next time they would meet, they would either have accomplished their dreams, or would be on the path to it. He bid farewell to his friend, and his mom (who protested quite heavily at first to him leaving, but ultimately let him go).

Edward would travel all across the seas, every day trailing closer to the Grand Line, his ultimate goal, where he sought to beat the best. Along the way, he would stop by many islands, fighting those who claimed themselves to be strong fighters, or the so-called 'strongest ever'. From island to island, there were many of those, but Edward sought to beat all of them. When Edward was 18, he found the devil fruit Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Tiger, which granted him a great boost to his already superior strength. This helped him earn a reputation as a strong bounty hunter, which is what most people assumed he was, as the targets he usually went after were pirates. His seemingly irregular personality, which at first appeared to be that of a dormant traveler that interchanged to that of a relentless fighter, earned him the nickname of "Sleeping Tiger". However, his lack of prejudice in regards to his opponents also earned him a bounty as well, so many don't know what to make of him, whether he is a pirate, a bounty hunter, or simply insane. To those who have crossed paths with him, most agree that he is trouble, and dangerous.

On his voyage to the Grand Line, Edward heard a rumor that someone on Ruedaya professes himself as a strong warrior, more particularly the strongest on the island and in the region. His interest piqued, Edward headed to the island to find this so-called strong fighter, and test to see how strong he really was.

Name:
Dull A. Jack

Title:
The Dull Blade

Age:
25

Race:
Human

Home:
Drifter stowaway, Jack normally stays in a town to do his buisness then moves on. Jack was the swordsman of a previous crew in his earlier days, though they no longer exist. He never had a true home, as he always lived at sea, whether it was with his father during his childhood or former pirates during his teen and early adult years.

Occupation:
Shipwright and Swordsman

Setting:
Drifting Ex-Pirate. He is on Ruedaya by chance, simply because he stowed away on a ship that sailed there. He is very modest about how well of a swordsman he is, though he does claim to be a decent shipwrights and is doing work on the island for money.

Appearance:
Jack is 6"3 and very thin. His body is lean, though finely cut, and one can easily see his muscles. He has a very handsome face and short, purple hair that spikes up. He has a scar across his back and a scar over his arm and abdomen. His clothing and hair are very messy and his clothing is tattered. He wears cargo pants, that are not baggy, and a green sleeveless t-shirt.

Personality: Jack is a level-headed person, though he is very aggressive at times. He thinks things out, but usually acts on a whim anyways. His personality is somewhat unclear to associates because he does act on a whim so frequently. Although is a pretty cheerful and nice individual, he can be cynical with his views and is actually pretty cold-hearted, preferring logicical actions over emotional ones. This isn't to say he doesn't have a caring side to people he knows though, if he knows the person and could help them without a large risk to his own life, then he will attempt to save them.

He isn't a wise sage, though he does have his moments. He has a "the job always comes first" attitude and is very loyal to superiors.

Goal:
Simply put, Jack wants to go back to life at sea, he yearns for the thrill of battle, the dangers at sea. He also wouldn't mind a way to get money if there is treasure to be found.

Devil Fruit:
None

Powers
Please do not fill this out until the first half of your application has been approved!
Devil Fruit:
If you don't have a devil fruit, state no. Otherwise, specify its name and type (paramecia, zoan or logia). You may make up your own or use one from the manga or anime as all of those characters are either long dead or never existed in this alternate timeline.

Weapons:

Powers:
Explain the depths of your character's powers. You can elaborate on how they use their weapon(s) and what they are capable of with them. In short, this section is to explain how your character defeats foes. Strengths and weakness are a great addition, especially for devil fruit users. A decent sized paragraph ought to be enough.

Background:
As a child Jack had been born to a smuggler father. Their relationship was pretty distanced, and Jack mostly just worked on the ship doing whatever the crew asked of him. After he turned 15 his father's crew disbanded and his old man spent his days at a tavern, partying and getting drunk. This encouraged Jack to abandon his father (who wouldn't care anyways) and join a pirate crew. He was trained by the crew's master swordsman, and eventually could match blades with him in a fair fight. Regardless, the master swordsman was a better father than his biological one.

After a fight with a rival crew, at which time he was 20, the master swordsman of the ship was killed. Jack's crew had won the battle, and with it a great treasure, one of the devil fruit. Even though some crew mates wanted to eat the fruit, the captain wished to sell it so that the entire crew could benefit. This difference in views caused a ship riot and mutiny, where the captain was killed and the ship fell apart. Jack decided to steal the fruit during the chaos and spent two days drifting the ocean before actually eating the fruit. He spent his days wandering around until he eventually came upon Ruedaya and decided to just relax for a bit.

Sounds great! I'll have an SU up soon :)

This is my rough draft. Not quite done yet.

Name: Strider T. Nelson

Title: Eagle-Strike

Age: 27

Race: Human

Home: Strider is from the Eastern sea, on the Gecko Islands. He set off for his adventure at the age of 16 on a small boat his dad gave him.

Occupation: Sniper

Setting: Strider is a very, and I mean very, successful bounty hunter. He may work solo, but he has contacts in every corner of the known world. His last know location was Nanohana, hunting down his quarry.

Appearance: Nelson is a very lanky man. He's roughly 6'8, and he weighs about 200 pounds, almost all of it height. His long, greasy blonde hair is always tied back in a ponytail that hangs down to his shoulders. Nelson's skin is tanned brown, due to hours

Personality:
Create a fun and interesting character. Specify their behavior, habits, pet peeves, and whatever else you come up with to really flesh out your character. Try for at least a paragraph or more.

Goal: He's in it for one thing, and one thing alone: Money. His sole purpose in life is to make money...and to cause pain while doing it.

Devil Fruit: NO

Powers

Weapons: Flintlock Long-Rifle for long range and medium range, Flintlock Pistol for short range, and regular Cutlass for close combat.

Powers: Nelson is considered the best shot in the Eastern sea, and he accels in ranged combat. His eye sight is superior to many, and he can hold his breath for a long time while under water. However, he's not very good at sword play or close combat, and his stomach is weak for a bounty hunter with blood stained past.

Background:
Your character's history. It should relate to their hometown and conclude with how they arrived on Ruedaya and why. Two to three paragraphs at least, as this is integral to who your character is and how they got to where they're at now.

Please reserve me. I would love to be apart of this! Sign up will be up as soon as I can make it.
No problem.

Devil Fruit:
Yes, and may I actually specify exactly which one? Click me!
I'm waiting to see what the devil fruit make-up looks like, and if we get a lot of people vying for devil fruit powers, you may have to roll to obtain one, but the one you want, while powerful, isn't overly so and is a paramecia type so there's a good chance that it'll be yours.

For those that have already started filling out the powers section, you can work on the other parts of it but I wont start accepting second halves of the sign-up until I see how our devil fruit make-up looks like.

I'll be putting my character up soon so in the meantime, keep up the work guys. :)

Alright, I looked over everything so far and I'll need to clarify a few things.

@Khawill
Your title isn't original at all. :P There's nothing wrong with this, but I'd like for people to come up with their own ideas, but it's totally up to you. You also have to specify what occupation you want. If you meant to indicate you'll whichever position of the one's you listed (first mate or a custom position), I don't mind making that choice, otherwise you may want to specify. Also, if you intend to be both a swordsman and have that particular kind of devil fruit, you'll have to choose one or the other, as devil fruit powers mostly speak for themselves in combat and other combat or weapon skills are mostly to supplement that style of combat. You could also plan to have a devil fruit that specifically creates a sword-like edge somehow, but to be a swordsman and have that devil fruit is overkill in my opinion.

@heretostay123 & Khawill
Both of you have issues in your setting and goal section. I understand you're still working on your app. HTS but consider making these revisions as well.

First off, the setting is about how you'll come into the RP, and I have a list of options in the RP to choose from that you can elaborate on If you're confused, Lilizuki did it right. You can always explain the details in your background later.. For HTS's character specifically, since your character isn't born in the Grand Line, keep his experiences there limited at best and include how he arrived on Ruedaya. His reasons for arriving there can be saved for the background. One other thing is that the forming of the crew happens spontaneously. There isn't a recruitment out or anything and everyone's on the island on their own business and happen to decide to team up in the RP. The exception to this is if you traveled to Ruedaya with the marine officer (my character) and thus, were part of the Buster Call somehow.

You two could also improve your goals. They aren't bad per-se, but they should have a reason to want to improve their skills and their goals will need to be appropriate enough to want to eventually join up and form a crew. While money seeking is a perfectly good, if they want to join this crew for money, they'll be sorely disappointed as the crew will have a larger purpose than just living however they want. This is a bit of a fault on my part as I wanted to unveil the larger plot as the RP wore on.

D: That sucks!
It did. :|

I'm going to start thinking about powers, etc. just in case there aren't any problems with my submitted first half. You mentioned that Haki would only come once the game was plenty underway, which leaves me a bit...defenseless as a character. Would you be willing to make an exception in this case, or are there hidden bonuses to being the Academic that make up for it?

I might but I want to get a bit of an idea of what the crew will look like. Haki is an exceptionally nice tool to have in combat and usually requires a lot of skill and conditioning to possess with some exceptions (such as kenbunshoku/mantra).

I might but I want to get a bit of an idea of what the crew will look like. Haki is an exceptionally nice tool to have in combat and usually requires a lot of skill and conditioning to possess with some exceptions (such as kenbunshoku/mantra).
Understandable.

I'm wondering whether your lack of comments on my submission is a good thing or not. ;)

I haven't had time to heavily review it but I didn't see any glaring problems or misunderstandings which was all I was looking for. I'll probably edit the sign-up data to clarify some things.

I made some edits and bolded parts of the application hopefully to reduce confusions.

@ Lilizuki
I gave a better look-over of your sign-up. It's pretty solid so far, but you could probably add a few more details to her appearance and personality. Also, your picture that you linked won't show up for me for whatever reason. I can't sees. D: After making those touch ups, the job is yours.

I'm curious about your character's title though. You don't have to elaborate on it in your sign-up but how did she get that title by chance and how does it apply to her?

Once your first half is approved, I'll be sending you a PM on details you may need on the background since our characters will be acquainted by the start of the RP.

Fixed all of those in the sheet (I hope).

She got called "Sovereign" by her family and friends, because, when she was a child, she collected golden coins (Old currency called Sovereigns) that were scattered across the beaches of Gerim Island by previous inhabitants. This got shortened to "Sov" and, when she left the island, she used her nickname instead of her real name to avoid connotations with her family name. When the World Government caught wind of what she was calling herself, they assumed it was some sort of title and it got corrupted into "The Sovereign".

And I look forward to the PM!

It all looks good. Approved. You can begin the second half of your sign-up now. As for the background, I'll get the PM sent out sometime tomorrow or this week while others sign up so you can feel free to explain her background, including how she learned to read poneglyphs and how she eventually ended up in Latvanua prior to the Buster Call.

In the meantime, I got to work on my character. :P

Edited the sign up, the reason I put First Mate Swordsman was because alone, first mate isn't exactly a complete roll on the ship, an dit is usually someone with skill (or the first to join, or the most trusted) I just put Swordsman in parenthesis in case you didn't want m character as a first mate.

Also my character wouldn't join with the intent of money, rather just to go out to sea again. Money is a bonus.

Finally, I removed the devil fruit, originally I ment the fruit's powers to be able to make a sword he could use, but if you say that is overpowered.

Alright, I think I'm basically done with the first part. Let me know if I need to add or change anything.

The main issue with the devil fruit you chose is that it can generate any kind of weapon, not just swords. For that reason it would be a problem, as your character would already be a fine swordsman. I'd like him to have a more ambitious goal since he'd probably end up as one of the crew's main fighters, and you need to fix the home section. He may not have a home now which is fine, but he was born somewhere and raised somewhere so be sure to add that.

Alright, I think I'm basically done with the first part. Let me know if I need to add or change anything.
Your's is good and your first half is approved.

Your devil fruit will be fine but it's status will be on hold until I see who else plans to claim devil fruit powers. As for the fruit itself, since it's zoan, you have a choice of many models in that fruit. Did you want the leopard model in particular or did you want another big cat? His title implies that a type of tiger might be suitable.

Also I have a feeling our character's might be at ends someone since they'll have similar fighting styles. :P

By the way, I'm going to make another change and have the first mate position be one that is determined in the RP by interactions and by how open to the positions players are once we start the RP. It makes more sense for my character to choose the first mate rather than someone just decide to be it.

With that, I'm adding an additional position since the first mate will no longer be an option to choose at this point.

One last thing: The RP will begin once I have approved people for the positions of the navigator, cook, shipwright, and doctor as these are essential for the crew's function.

Oh, ok. I kinda forgot about that. Yea, I'd like to have tiger probably instead of leopard. I'll make the second half of my SU soon.

Haha, really? That might be interesting. Maybe they can have some sort of rivalry among the ship as well. We'll see, I haven't seen your character sign up quite yet.

Gonna give this one a shot. Hopefully I can have the devil fruit.

Character

Name: Wright D. Morgan

Title:
The Burning King

Age:
24

Race:
Human

(Has been given the Supervegeta seal of approval for reasons to be shared later)

Occupation:
Will likely be vying for First Mate. Otherwise random crew mate.

Setting:
Noteworthy pirate. Morgan has been living as a solo pirate for some time and despite obtaining some renown has found the adventure more arduous and lonely than expected. So he would like to join a new crew or form his own. Except he has been kind of captured. By Marines. And is in jail.

Appearance:
Morgan is considered by many to be a handsome specimen, having obtained the love and lust of many women. Standing at a bit under 6 feet tall and weighing in around 160 pounds, Morgan has an athletic build, appearing to be more than capable of handling himself in a scrap if he was to get in one, with defined arms, shoulders and torso. He does have long skinny legs, which is admittedly awkward, but is remedied by his outfit. What truly catches the eyes of women, is Morgan's long, shaggy yet styled black hair that almost reaches his neck and brushes against his deep green eyes. His eyes have been called hypnotizing by some and powerful by others, carrying a sense of pride and passion behind them. They are of average size, but can be very expressive giving his fiery emotions wide range. His clean-shaven face is youthful and free from impurities with a square jaw, well proportioned nose and slightly rose cheeks. This gives Morgan what his mother affectionately called a "baby face" which Morgan took as a compliment.

Morgan's outfit is comfortable and loose enough for him to jump out of the frying pan and into the fire if need be. He wears a red shirt with his personalized jollyroger on it (a basic, poorly drawn skull and crossbones on fire). Over this shirt, is a plain black trench coat, which Morgan wears usually open to show his jollyroger. He wears match black pants and brown leather boots. Often these pants and boots are in fairly good condition, but only because Morgan makes it his business to keep his outfit clean and pristine in order to look good for the ladies in his life. As far as accessories go, Morgan has made a few investments, primarily in a necklace with a small ruby pendant on it and a wristband with a good luck charm on it to keep him safe.

Personality:
Morgan is an energetic, eccentric yet ambitious and passionate individual with clearly defined goals, but no actual plan to actually achieve them. Morgan has a love for adventure that is only satisfied by journeying out in the open waters and doing whatever he damn well pleases. This often at odds with his fleeting desires which has caused Morgan to get all bouts of trouble. Fortunately, Morgan has sharp wits and endless amounts of luck which allows him to escape with little repercussions other than a higher bounty than the day before. Morgan's sharp wit also translates to a silver tongue and an overall charming personality. Morgan is self aware of his charms and has become quite the ladies man, though he has experience more failures than successes in his lifetime.

Morgan's eccentricities primarily stems from his superstitions, day dreaming and strange obsession with puns, one liners and lame jokes. Morgan firmly believes in luck and his own peculiar brand of karma, and as a result usually tries to do the right thing in any given situation. If something doesn't work, he writes it off as bad luck and moves on. If something works out, its good luck. In this regard, Morgan rarely dwells on the past and is constantly looks towards the future with high aspirations. These aspirations often blind Morgan however and he can be often caught zoning out his own little world, hence his day dreaming. What is most frequent and noticeable is Morgan's obsession with corny humor, including puns, one liners and lame jokes. Often situational, Morgan never shies away from making a joke (or speaking his mind in general) and leaps on any opportunity to break tension. Because life is too short to be serious.

Despite Morgan's tendency to keep things relaxed and carefree, one should not assume he is a complete fool. Morgan has a keen mind and is quite intelligent, able to articulate himself well and come up with the occasional brilliant strategy (though they usually are basic in design). Morgan, however, is quite reckless and is not afraid of anything, being more than willing to charge blindly into a situation with no regard for any repercussions. Additionally, Morgan is very stubborn, refusing to back down from anything especially if directly opposes his principle that he so valiantly cares for: freedom to live one's life the way they want to.

Goal:
Take down the World Government, expand piracy and live a truly free life.

Devil Fruit:
Yes, specifically this.

Powers

Devil Fruit:
The Mera Mera no Mi or Flame-Flame fruit, Logia Class.

Weapons:
-Devil Fruit powers remain Morgan's primary means of combat. He uses the Devil Fruit powers both in close quarters and long range combat, using both a fair share. He generally powers physical combat, but is developing projectiles into his style.
-Morgan uses an "original" martial art that he has been recently developing dubbed "Way of the Flame." Still in its infancy, this style relies on quick strikes that are augmented by his devil fruit powers, as well as using the projectile capabilities to suppress, weaken and damage his opponents.. As in its brand new, Morgan has not fully developed the style yet but he plans to craft it as he becomes more accustomed to its range of abilities. Being a fast learner and a sharp mind, he is very adaptable and learns well through observation. The general idea though: completely overwhelm the opponent with offense. Who needs defense these days?
-While he doesn't carry one, Morgan is very skilled with staves or staff like weapons, having learned to use them in his youth.

Powers:
Morgan's devil fruit has made him a "fire man" which has granted him complete mastery over the element of fire, allowing him to create, control and become fire. Its primary usage in its use as a weapon, allowing Morgan to create fire-based attacks, such as the basic fireball. However, Morgan being a creative spirit has shown to be capable of broadening the horizon of his abilities in occasional flashes of brillance, such as explosions, fire fists, fire walls, etc. The range of attacks are vast and can be fickle in terms of control, making Morgan a destructive force to say the least. However, his knowledge is still relatively poor, making him suspect there is much more to learn about his power and its various uses.

The devil fruit also makes Morgan intangible to most normal attacks, unless imbued with forces such as haki (which he has no knowledge of). This is done by transforming himself into fire and allowing the attack to pass through him. Additionally physical attacks are capable of burning an opponent in they are within close proximity to Morgan at the time. Morgan is vulnerable to general devil fruit weaknesses including sea water and sea stone. As mentioned above however, he is a capable fighter who is developing a fighting style that takes full advantage of his devil fruit powers.

Background:
Born and raised on Sunnyside Island, Morgan got lucky when it comes to the circumstances of his family life. His father and mother were once relatively successful merchants, living off the fruits of their labor and were able to support Morgan to the best of their ability. They home-schooled the boy, teaching him the best they could while keeping him safe from the dangers of the outside world. Sunnyside Island's tumultuous culture kept Morgan very sheltered, rarely leaving the sanctity of his home. As he grew more confident and curious, a yearning to step outside developed within him. Not one to not act on his whims, Morgan began to go out on short walks around town, keeping his wits about him. As his adventures grew longer, so he did his curiosity of the outside world. Noticing his son's wandering habits, his father began to train Morgan in basic combat, particularly self defense and the use of weapons in order to ward off the dangers of the island. It was necessary to keep his son safe. Luckily enough, Morgan was a fast learner and caught on early, despite being so young.

At around the age of 8, Morgan had a chance encounter with a boy named Vane T. Edward. Despite only being a year older than Morgan, Edward's reputation around Sunnyside had grown to be that of a "lazy troublemaker" either being a passive sleeping pest or a violent irritable child. Morgan was quietly fend up with Edward's attitude, disliking his tendency to fight. One day, Morgan confronted Edward about his fighting, imploring him to stop. Not particularly caring, Edward and Morgan literally bumped heads. Despite not having the early advantage, Morgan eventually won the fight, stunning the more experienced Edward. Morgan did not think twice about the fight and continued along his way, traveling the island and training. However, Edward would continue to challenge Morgan to fight after fight. While one would figure the fights would eventually evolved into some sort of death match, the relationship between the two became more complex: it became a good, yet competitive friendship. Edward and Morgan would constantly spend time together, Edward often trying to test his limits and Morgan being more than willing to indulge, and the things they could do together. Edward's ambition to become stronger was fun to support but watching Edward grew had caused Morgan to become ambitious as well. He admired Edward's freedom and desire to become what he wanted to know. In other words, his individualism. Morgan resolved to become his own man as well, using their adventures as a means of self discovery. They often snuck into Miruike Forest, which was probably the most dangerous part of the island. There, they fought beasts, endured the wild, and ran into numerous close calls. It was in these hazards that Morgan gained a better perspective on his life and it spoke volumes to him. He loved the thrill of adventure, freedom and individualism. Morgan decided that he wanted to experience true freedom as it was there he would find his purpose in life as well as find true happiness. But he realized that in order to truly find this happiness, he would have to travel. So he made a vow to leave Sunnyside when he was old enough, with no particular destination in mind. Edward made his own vow as well: to become the strongest in the world, a fitting goal. Together, they agreed to set sail when they were old enough, to depart on their own journeys and accomplish their dreams. And when Edward was 16 and Morgan 15, they did. They decided the next time they would meet, they would either have accomplished their dreams, or would be on the path to it. He bid farewell to his friend, and his family, vowing to return only he was successful in his endeavors.

The pirate's life was definitely for Morgan as it did not take long for him to adjust to life on the sea. Initially, Morgan kept a low profile, joining small pirate crews and getting a feel for the "culture" of piracy. The longest he spent with a crew was a crew originating from the West Blue called the "Falcon Pirates." Their renown was a bit limited, but their knowledge was vast making Morgan's admission vital to his future successes. Morgan learned nearly everything he learned about the sea, the people, the skills needed to be a true pirate. At the same time, Morgan acquired many of his tastes, particularly his obsession with luck and his growing dislike for many of the World Government's handlings with justice and control from the culture of the "Falcon Pirates." Tragedy struck the "Falcon Pirates" when Morgan was about 19, as their flagship the Blue Falcon was attacked, pillaged and destroyed by a rival group of pirates. Morgan was thrown overboard by the captain given only a small bag containing a small unknown chest that Morgan was unfamiliar with. Morgan survived the attack and washed up ashore on a small island for several weeks. In a moment of curiosity during the isolation, Morgan opened the bag and chest only to find a single piece of oddly shaped fruit. Delusional and hungry, Morgan decided to eat the whole thing, despite its absolute horrid taste. It was only in hindsight that he realized what he had done. He ate a Devil Fruit. The one he remembered Captain talking about the fruit days before the attack. After some experimentation, Morgan learned about his powers and sworn to get revenge for his fallen crew.

Morgan eventually found a way off the island with a basic smoke signal (which now wasn't hard to make) and docked at the closest island nearby, got himself on a pirate ship, overthrew the captain and his crew and made the ship his own to act as his vehicle for the hunt. Morgan, for the next year, became an obsessed hunter as he tracked the guilty ship and finally tracking down the ship that attacked and killed his crew after an intense investigation. The attack Morgan committed was merciless and truly deadly, the ashes left in his wake becoming the first verse in the forging of his nickname: The Burning King. As satisfying as revenge was, he realized he had become no better than him in that instant. He had decided to reserve such punishments for only the worst and most despicable criminals and pirates.

Morgan's renown as did his reputation for having a fondness for fire. Morgan would go to become a true pirate, raiding merchant, pirate and Marine ships alike, but not without good reason. The merchant ships were often carrying illegal goods or working for corrupt officials of some kind. Pirate ships were always fair game, but Morgan usually targeted more morally warped crews. Marine ships were those that Morgan felt abused their power and authority or those he personally just didn't like for whatever reason. Morgan acquired a destructive reputation as well, being known to flaunt his power during his raids. However, Morgan never attacked innocent civilians or raided islands directly, keeping many of his engagements on the open sea as to prevent damage. He had gotten in a few scraps on dry island, but made a conscious decision to avoid piling up the damages. When he did, Morgan never paid as pirates never really pay their debts.

Morgan's deeds eventually caught up with him as he was eventually caught by a well organized Marine attack and was en route to Impel Down, after making a quick stop in Ruedaya in his transit. Now he sits in a cell awaiting his fate.

@Supervegeta
Well, I have some of my character up now but it's still a little incomplete, but I had planned for her to be a physical fighter with her strength augmented by her devil fruit. Although as time goes on her fighting style will probably be less about brute physical force as his will be on top of his zoan powers and more to do with her own devil fruit once she finds more creative uses for it.

@Raikiri
It's all good but if he's the cook he may want a goal more oriented towards his skills as a chef, although the other ones are perfectly fine goals too. I also changed the rules on becoming first mate, so it's sort of up to how events unfold in the RP. If this works for you, I'll put Jack down as the crew's cook.

Regarding the devil fruit, I may still allow it but I did want the crew to have only one logia fruit due to their rarity. If you want to explore other options, you could have a paramecia type fruit involving heat, burning, or melting or something along those lines or maybe a mythical zoan that can produce heat or fire. I'm not ruling it out yet but these are some ideas that might also work for you.

If you absolutely super duper want that fruit no matter what, I do have a plan for your character but you may have to alter what you had planned for his background and his setting. If this interests you, I can PM you the details.

Also, I'll throw up part of my character, but I'm still working on her so some things may change.

Spoiler:

I'll also be sending out the PMs I had intended to very soon, probably today (it's past midnight here) so be on the lookout!

I am pretty set on Morgan having that devil fruit, mostly because it is one of my favorite ones and it fits his character (at least in my opinion). So I would love to see what you got planned, so please do PM me the details.

As far the first mate/cook thing, I think he would be a good first mate (personally), but the cook thing was mostly intended as a joke as the guy with fire powers would go and cook/burn the food. As far as what his actual goals entail, he fits more either be the first mate or a random crewmate. I suppose I will go edit the cook bit out and reserve as a joke.
