Ten Little Days
Run, hide, fight; survive!

OOC Thread|IC Thread
poeOA.gif

64days, 5hrs, 28mins, 15secs ago

Scientists began work on a new project, officially 'CRV-ENO3', a project researching the shared dna of pokémon, and unofficially 'mewthree', since certain shady corporations still wanted the most powerful pokémon . They began once more with the genes of the suspected ancestor of all pokémon, Mew, and began creating from it a new creature. However, as these projects always seemed to, something went horribly wrong - the pink blob of jelly that sat at the bottom of their tank harboured intense psychic power, though only primal instinct (seeking to save themselves from their creature's wrath, they did not give it intelligent thought, as their previous projects were given), and broke out, devouring one researcher and stealing his shape, and more importantly, his mind, before moving on to the other test subjects.

48days, 10hrs, 15mins, 14secs ago

CRV-ENO3 has consumed 150 species of pokémon, and seems to be acquiring their powers and forms, too. By the people who have seen it, CRV-ENO3 seems to have applied some of the physical characteristics of the pokémon it absorbed on top of the human form it already had. People are also reporting children going missing in areas around where it was reported to have been seen.

24days, 1hrs, 0mins, 45secs ago

Worryingly, out of the 234 species that CRV-ENO3 has absorbed, one of those is Lugia, the pokémon reputed to be the 'Lord of the seas'. Though nothing appears to have happened with it just yet, a region wide manhunt has been organised. The orders to the authorities are 'kill on sight'.

19days, 11hrs, 40mins, 12secs ago

The manhunt has roundly failed; CRV-ENO3 now has access to the abilities of 390 different pokémon, another of which is a legendary of our region - Ho-Oh. whilst the abilities of these pokémon are questionable, there is no doubt that they are powerful: a small town at the eastern edge of our region, Tenebrai, is now nothing more than a smoking crater. A surviving resident said that a strange man had booked into a bed and breakfast a few days before. Strangely, the resident disappeared soon after giving that statement.

5days, 9hrs, 20mins, 2secs ago

There are only a handful of species of pokémon left. They are a mixture of legendaries, which seem to reside in other regions, thankfully, and rarities, of which a few survive in the wild - that said, what hope do we have against a creature that bested all that went against it? Our only hope is to destroy the last few species that CRV-ENO3 has not devoured, that remain in this region, and spread the word to the others. The researchers tell us that their experiment has a limited lifespan. This was their failsafe - a laughable notion now, but it could save us - we will round up one of each of the last few, so that we might revive them when the danger is over, then hunt the rest down, and destroy them.

1days, 2hrs, 40mins, 29secs ago

The hunt had a disturbing effect on the local fauna - their aggression towards humans has increased tenfold, and their power a hundredfold, but the drawback of this apparent defence mechanism is that they have cut their lifespans down to about 24 hours. To try and contain the damage, the other regions of the world have erected an enormous psychic barrier around us. Following their lead, we erected a smaller bubble around Kisara City, the only place apparently unaffected. From what news we can gather from the outside world, several immensely powerful pokémon - the so-called legendaries - have begun to gather outside of the barrier. They are, perhaps, trying to contain the situation too?

0days, 3hrs, 30mims, 12secs ago

CRV-ENO3 is in the city, and with it, hordes of wild pokémon - whatever madness is infecting them is spreading rapidly to the pokémon here. Our last hope is to entrust the pokémon CRV-ENO3 is missing to various trainers; by splitting them up, we may be able to hold out long enough - according to the researchers who created the monster, it has a very unstable DNA structure. The more pokémon it absorbs, the more unstable it gets. That said, we can't allow it to absorb the rest of the Pokémon - if it does that, then it's genetic structure will complete, and we'll have a lot longer to wait until it dies of old age.

0days, 0hrs, 0mins, 0secs ago.

So, I leave it to you, the last few trainers - defend your precious pokémon with your lives. Your comrades have already declined in number by half in these past few hours. leaving the city is, unfortunately, not an option: not only is the barrier around the city the only thing keeping out more of the infected pokémon, we can't afford to let CRV-ENO3 back into the world - for now, it's preoccupied with acquiring it's missing pieces, - one by one; thankfully it doesn't seem able to absorb multiple organisms at once - but it would be a disaster if it made contact with the pokémon outside the region. We have 10 days left before its timer reaches zero and it falls apart. Run, hide, fight - do whatever it takes to win, and save the world!

This is an M-Rated roleplay. There will certainly be violence and coarse language, and it's certainly possible that there'll be other adult themes, depending on what you, the players' want to do - that said, when considering such things, please bear in mind the Pokécommunity rules on the matter.

Your party may be made up of whatever five pokémon you like - bear in mind that it's unlikely you'll get a chance to swap them at a pokémon center, and though you can catch the 'infected' pokémon, it's quite likely they'll just turn around and attack you when you let them out - plus one of the ones that have avoided being absorbed.

Tl:Dr - You can have one of the mons on the list, and as many unlisted mons as you like in your party, except legendary pokémon.

Spoiler:

There's no requirement to start out with the fully evolved forms of these pokémon - it's equally valid to begin with a Charmander as it is a Charizard.

If an NPC trainer needs to show up, and be in possession of one of these pokémon, they'll be randomly picked and removed from the list, just as if a person had signed up for them. I'll hold this option in reserve, though - I'd rather not start picking off pokémon from the list willy-nilly.

In addition, the 'madness' of the wild pokémon is infectious - if you spend too long battling with them, it might spread to your own pokémon; the effect is a lot slower in captured pokémon, but eventually, it'll be as if you never captured them.

Lastly, your characters do not have 'plot armor' - that is, if they do something dangerous or stupid (or both), they're probably going to get themselves killed, instead of pulling off some superspecialawesome thing.

There is no limit to the amount of players who sign up, though I reserve the right to close the sign-ups as and when it's appropriate (too many cooks and all that). We'll start fairly promptly this time - when at least four sign-ups have been approved.

NEW RULES 18.2.15

The IC will move on at least once a week regardless of player activity.

Players who don't post for three consecutive weeks will be moved to the inactive players list (unless notice is given of absence).

Players who remain on the inactive players list after three weeks will get a warning each week that they're on the list - if they remain inactive despite this, their character will be killed, and they'll have to complete a sign up again if they want to rejoin the rp.

Yeah, I'm done with this.

Trainer Arc

Hazella Savich || Female || 20

Personality: She's a pretty short tempered person and does not tolerate the naive at all. She's mostly not open to anyone; pokemon nor human, except for her brother, BFF, and her pokemon. She's very logical and is a type of person to see the situation before acting out to it; she believes in ordinary acts of bravery secretly. She trusts no one and becoming her friend is mission impossible. Leave it to Hazella to know whether or not you're deadly or just a show. Despite all this, Hazella feels pretty lonely now and then, mainly because due to her antisocial behaviour and her stubbornness to obey people. Frankly, she's just not a people-person, and she enjoys keeping to herself.

She's not the world's greatest liars, but Hazella won't share the truth unless it benefits her. You will most likely never know what she's thinking because of her antisocial personality. Also, she has been pretty envious of people that actually gets to spend time with their families or friends without being enforced to do something, but Hazella won't show it. She's pretty claustrophobic because she loves the outdoors and suffocated indoors. Yes she's your type of girl who loves investigating the past that made the future instead of other normal girls who are into fashion and all that stuff. Hazella actually has a curiosity that she can control, but she lets it lose. Also she just wants to know her roots and why things are what they are; she'll definitely stick her nose in a good book to seek information or just to imagine certain things like the past. She finds beauty vain and prefers to just stay inside and evaluate information as fast as she can. Most people say how weird she is, but if Hazella cared what they said at all, she doesn't show it. Put a gun to her head and she won't care. Her sole moral is logic, honesty, and dignity.

Just a couple small things, really; you say she's antisocial several times, but you don't seem to really explain how - does she punch people when she's upset? Throw bricks at shop windows? Or is she just not a people-person? And the thing about liking to investigate the past seems to come from nowhere - did something get cut out there or something? Perhaps something like 'also' or even 'and' would be better?

Your pokémon look fine - I'll get Altaria off the list for you once the stuff I mentioned is sorted. I must say, I like the pokémon nicknames. 'Fuzz' is clearly the best name for a Volcarona :3

Zander is cool, collected and professional at all times. Well, not professional. He's good at keeping his head about him, but his temper can go into absolute flares during times of high stress (helpful!). In it's most basic form, he doesn't have time for your sh*t. You're going to band together and survive in this hellhole you've all been left in, whether you're willing to or not.

Thanks to his upbringing, Zander holds his own skills in high regard. He knows that he can survive and now everything has gone to sh*t, he's taking it on himself to keep the less-prepared safe. He can seem cold and harsh, but trust him, it's for your good.

History:
Born to a military family, Zander was drilled from an early age towards the path of soldiery. As a result, he has a lot of skills one might expect of someone with this kind of upbringing.

Since the crisis with CRV-ENO3 was announced, Zander has been striving to save as much of the defenseless populace as he can manage, but he has been unfortunate enough to have had an encounter with the experiment already - an encounter that cost the lives of three of his 'mons as that he and the other three could escape alive.

Reinhold Klemens

Twenty-Eight, Male

Personality: To say that Reinhold is an arrogant, narcissistic asshole would far be an understatement. However, it is not exactly without reason; he has defeated the champion of nearly every Pokemon League to date, and that is no easy feat--it's an accomplishment that he won't hesitate to remind people of. It isn't something that he just woke up one day and did, in fact it took years of training in the harshest of conditions to achieve this. Spending an unparalleled amount of time traversing the world's most dangerous locations in a strict quest for power, he would disappear from civilization from sometimes months at a time. As a result of this, he is well disciplined and privy to survival in even the most extreme conditions.

The man's confidence in himself has left him rather brash and headstrong. Often times Reinhold will open his mouth without first thinking of the consequences of what he is saying. Because of his cocky demeanor, he has gathered quite the list of people who despise him--something he chalks off to their jealousy of his accomplishments. On the flipside, he also many adoring fans who want to learn the secrets of his battling strength, something he has yet to really reveal to anyone. Beneath this mighty facade however is a very damaged boy. Reinhold has no real close bonds with people, it almost seeming like he'd prefer it that way. His Pokemon, contrary to popular belief, are not his friends. They are nothing more than tools with which he can attain he even greater lengths of power. This is evidenced as apart from his Metagross he has not hesitated to replace his entire team on multiple occasions for one he believed to be stronger or better suited to the task at hand.

Wip, ahoy!

Edit: Done, I think... Also added an appearance section, if that's cool. I've used this guy in rps before, but they've usually been dystopia/wartime ones, so if something needs tweaking (like if you want me to tone down his job to just a Pokémon hunter instead of a general mercenary), just tell me.

Name: Kristofer "Kris" Riveraid
Gender: Male
Age: 32

Appearance: Kris stands slightly above average at exactly six feet. He's pretty muscular but still lean, and often surprises people with the physical feats he's able to accomplish - especially since to any average person passing him by, Kris might seem like a slacker, a lazy bum who probably can't hold a job for more than a day. People can't really be blamed for that assumption either, as his perpetually half-closed eyes, calm smile and the unshaven stubble decorating his chin do indeed give off "jobless" vibes. If you can at all read people however, you'll notice there's more to him than instantly meets the eye; his eyes, though lazy, still always carry a sharp look in them, and there are suspicious scars scattered across his body that he tries to hide if about to be noticed. Kris also always has a smile on his face, and he has the tendency to smile with his eyes closed (or squinted so much they look like they're closed – nobody's ever bothered to find out), which kind of makes him seem like he'd always be up to something even when he's not.

His sand-brown hair is short and messy, though not by a choice; he'd very much like to have neat, combed back hair, but the trouble he'd have to go through in order to achieve that just doesn't sound like it'd be worth it, really. He'd rather spend the time napping or playing his violin. His eyes are brown as well, though they're a lot darker color, often seeming almost black when not directly illuminated by something. He usually has on a dark brown trench coat, as well as combat boots and cargo pants. He also generally has on his fedora, a somewhat of a trademark of his, and he never goes anywhere without his violin.

Personality: You could never tell from Kris's usual behavior that he's actually a professional Pokémon mercenary and actually good at what he does; the guy's very laid-back, joking whenever he can and being very "my pace" about most things he partakes in. He's also polite, and offers a hand to those in need whenever he can. Not exactly traits you'd expected from someone who hunts Pokémon illegally to be sold off to shady buyers and has even done jobs as a hitman in the past - even if the latter is more uncommon during times of peace nowadays. And when people do find out about what he actually does, many of them mistake his cheery demeanor to be a ruse or a mask, but really, it isn't. That's just the way he is, both when working and when out and about on the streets. Being carefree doesn't mean he wouldn't always be doing his best when work is concerned, however.

He loves to talk (even when he'd be better off staying quiet), adores meeting new people, and it's next to impossible to get Kris mad. He's also extremely honest, definitely to a fault; he has no trouble talking openly about his illegal endeavors when asked what his job is. It just happens that people often don't believe him; he looks more like a bum than a soldier, after all. Of course, he isn't without his bad sides and wouldn't have ended up in the profession he has if he didn't. For one, he's greedy. There is nothing quite exhilarating to him than a full wallet and stomach and he will stop to nothing to get as much wealth as he can gather. Second, he's not empathetic, and although he smiles when hunting for rare Pokémon to be cruelly shipped off to auctions, he doesn't feel pity or compassion for the creatures. He likes Pokémon, he loves them, but he honestly believes that the end justifies all means. His end? Money. That makes him rather untrustworthy accomplice, likely to jump sides based on who pays him more. He also has a somewhat of a fascination with exciting, even dangerous situations and sometimes he does seek those out on purpose. He hasn't had an actual hitman job in a while due to the peaceful state of the world and even his Pokémon hunting has diminished to doing tasks for the occasional shady organization on the rise, and part of him kind of misses the excitement. He's not doing that good a job earning his keep playing music on the streets, after all... Oh, he has aquaphobia and absolutely refuses to go anywhere near large bodies of water unless he really, really has to.

In the end though, Kris is a little bit of both worlds; he's not as harmless as he appears but at the same time, he does have a heart of... if not necessarily gold then at least bronze. Which is why he's not going to let his Pokémon be sacked off to the monstrosity threatening them. Plus, well, if he were to assist in defeating this thing, he'd surely get paid handsomely! ... Right?

Alright! Let's go, Unusual Name Squadron Alpha!

Also, just to note I made a couple of changes. Only major effect is access to another HM move and redistribution of Strength/Rock Smash where I think they're more appropriate. Are these okay?

Leonidas
Species: Pyroar -> Luxray
Ability: Unnerve -> Intimidate
Move: Fire Blast -> Wild Charge
Move: Hyper Beam -> Giga Impact
New Move: Flash

Ieyasu
Move: Strength -> Rock Smash

Pyrrhus

The Ho-Oh/Houou difference is not one my brain can cope with, apparently :P

Okay, the changes you've made, Plum, are fine - as a side note to everybody else, you can change your pokémon prior to posting in the IC thread if you think it's necessary, but after you post, your choices are locked in (until you get an IC reason to change them). Also if you do gain/change any pokemon through the course of the RP, changing your app to reflect this is fine, provided that's all you change.

That's okay, you aren't the only one to do that, heh.

And yeah, on the topic of changing, I switched Crobat into a Talonflame and changed one move on Gengar. Also, depending on when you looked at the personality, there might be a few more sentences there now, but that's about it.

Name: Samantha "Sam" Ferris
Gender: Female
Age: 24

Appearance: Sam is of average height, although is fairly thin and shapeless for her age. Her skin is quite pale, and rather unhealthy looking, a fact which is only emphasised by the permanent dark rings under her eyes. When she attempts to dress herself up a bit with makeup, she tends to go over the top with black eyeliner. Her hair is short, messy, and desperately in need of a cut as her bangs hang over her eyes. She constantly dyes it a light blue, although she is a natural blonde. Beneath the bangs, it is possible to see her dark chocolate brown eyes, which look livelier than the rest of her face.

If she can be bothered to leave her room, Sam tends to dress fairly casually. Her current preferred outfit is a loose purple shirt with small black polka dots under a black vest. On this vest she has a number of badges, such as the Hylian Crest, and the Black Mana symbol. Accompanying this is usually a pair of faded and torn black skinny jeans, and she also dons purple Doc Martins, also fairly worn.

Personality: Sam is an obsessive completionist and perfectionist. Any game she gets her hands on she has to unlock every achievement, find every easter egg, collect every card, and hit that wonderful 100% complete mark. This leads her to spend a lot of time by herself, resulting in both her forgetting to eat and sleep, and also to her low social skills. Its not that she doesn't want to speak to people, its more that she just doesn't have the experience judging social cues that other people have. As a result, Sam can often say things which are inappropriate for the given situation, and often makes matters worse as a result. From seeing that this is how her social interactions seem to go, she now much prefers to speak online through chat, as she finds an environment removed from micro expressions and body language to be refreshingly simple. Because most of her talking is done online, Sam often tends to use a lot of abbreviations when she speaks in real life.

Her outlook on life is somewhat depressing, to say the least. Forbidden to go on a journey with Pokemon, Sam sees that the direction that her life will head will be something along the lines of "get a job, get married, have kids, retire, die." This she finds rather upsetting to her, and has resulted in a lack of interest in real life. After all, why would you want to sit around writing out resumes when you can be off saving the world within a game? Reality just seems boring to her, something which was further reflected in her school marks, as she just wasn't interested enough in the subject material to pay attention. Despite this, she isn't stupid – her interests just lie in things they don't teach you at school. So, to Sam, having a crazy mutated Pokemon start wrecking the place was actually a positive thing for her – or at least it was until she found out that the reality of the situation was not nearly as romanticized as she had thought it was.

History: Sam was born as an only child in Hoenn. As such, both of her parents fussed and doted over her when she was young, causing her to form a fairly ego centric view of the world. However, this eventually caused a conflict between her and her parents, as they flat out refused to allow her to go travelling with Pokemon. To her father, this was because he himself had been a trainer when he was younger, but found that when he tried to enter the workforce, not having any qualifications made things more difficult for him, and it has been something he has regretted ever since. For her mother, she just worried that Sam wasn't physically strong enough to go out travelling, and that she'd get hurt, and was certain that she needed to stay around her parents in order to survive. Despite her parent's good intentions, it created a rift between them.

Before she entered high school, the family moved regions for her mother's work. Upon arrival at their new house, they discovered that a Sentret had made its home within the place while it was empty. While originally intending to just have the Pokemon removed, Sam's parents found that she had taken a liking to the creature, and after much begging and pleading they eventually permitted her to catch him, which Sam named Link. The two became firm friends, but it quickly became obvious that Sam wasn't interested in making friends at school. She missed her friends back in Hoenn, and quickly immersed herself within the internet to talk to them, instead of to her new classmates. This continued until she was really only talking to people online, whether she knew them or not, and lead to her introduction to video games. From her, her marks deteriorated, and although her teachers could recognize that it wasn't because she didn't understand the work, they couldn't boost her grades for that reason.

She completed high school, and proceeded to spend most of her time from then onwards in her room playing games for days on end. Her parents, concerned about this behaviour, fixed up her resume themselves and attempted to get her a job so that she might take an interest in reality. However, of the jobs she did get, Sam was often fired from them either for not turning up, or turning up so sleep deprived that she could not effectively complete the work. This continued for several years. Recently, her parents needed to go overseas for her mother's work for a couple of weeks, and her father decided to leave with her one of his Pokemon, his Aggron Cobalt, in order to keep an eye on her. However, in the weeks that they were away, the region was cut off from the outside world, and they have not been able to return. Cobalt, due to being the species he is, was since taken for storage in order to keep his species away from CRV-ENO3. However, he was returned to Sam as holding all missing species in one place became an unsavory option.

Everything seems to be in order, so Sam is accepted!
Oh, just noticed something - since her father had an Aggron, he would have needed to take it with him to avoid getting it destroyed by the authorities, or at least taken - she can still have it and everything, it just wouldn't be from her father - not directly, anyway.
