Marcus Romulus Valerius, but you can call me Marcus or whatever really floats your boat. Why would I pick this as an alias? Some people...honestly.

I am 18. Time sure flies doesn't it.

I am male if you couldn't guess from the name.

Hmm, since I grew about 2 or 3 inches since I last measured, I would say I am around 5' 8". I spend far too much time travelling but it has helped keep me in shape and given me a very mild tan. My father was quite short and stocky and I appear to have inherited the stockyness. I got my light brown hair from my mother. She wanted me to keep it brushed and well cared for but I just let it go messy after I left home. It takes care of itself and I take care of myself, an arragement that works nicely. I have been told my eyes are a dark emerald green with hazel flecks but I can't see it, I think of them as just green. I wear black jeans and a boring grey t-shirt when its warm. If the weather cools down a bit I wear a brown zip-up jumper as well.

I like to think of myself as a calm person, I don't get angry easily. I don't lie. That is one thing I will not do. I don't have any trouble concealing the truth though, so you need to be careful about what I say. I was a spoilt child but travelling have gotten rid of some of that. If I had to say my biggest fault it is a difficulty to talk to people. I find it hard to join conversations, prefering instead to sit on the side and listen.
Where pokemon are concerned, I will actively protect them. If it comes to a pokemon battle I will try to finish the fight quickly to avoid unnecessary injuries. I try to look for unconventional tactics. One-sided fights are not worth the time they take and only accomplish hurting people.
Those I travel with have described me as slightly arrogant but a good friend if the time is taken to know me. I am kind but if you do get on my bad side it will take a lot of work to change my opinions. It would be an interesting contest to discover who is more stubborn, myself or my Ampharos, Shunt.

I suppose I should start with my family and my home. I don't know where I was born and my parents refuse to tell me. My earliest memory is of my parents house near Ecruteak City. It was a big house with a garden that I used to think spanned the whole world. You could get lost in that garden. It was also home to a fair amount of wild pokemon. My mother disliked them, saying they damaged her flowers. She was a big gardening fan, my mother. My father loved them though, he and I would secretly go out and feed them when my mother was shopping. I spent a lot of my childhood in that garden, only going inside for necessities. Sometimes I slept out there.
My first pokemon was a shock. My mother had dragged me out shopping, something about getting me a new jumper. My father was at work, developing a new pokemon food or something. Apparently that was how he made all his money but I am still not clear about all the details. Anyway, my mother was looking in the window of a clothes shop when I saw something blue looking at me out of an alleyway. It ran away as soon as it realised it had been seen. Being a curious little 7 year old I chased it. When I got to the alleyway I saw it just turn the corner onto a main street. So began the chase. It must have lasted 10 minutes. Had I been less stubborn and more thoughtful I would have went back to my mother who had probably noticed my absence and been worried. I didn't, instead choosing to follow a pokemon I didn't know halfway across the city. Eventually it entered the Kimono Dance Theatre.
Having no concept of fear or danger, I wandered into a building I had never entered. Thankfully nobody dangerous was in there. Only a young lady, must have been as old as I am now, was there. In front of her was the pokemon I had been chasing. The lady was nice and offered me some tea and we started talking. It was awkward at first but the longer we talked the easier it became. She told me about Riolu, the pokemon I was chasing, and about some of the old Johto legends.
After what must have been an hour a policeman knocked on the door. Turned out my mother had gotten so worried she had looked actually offered a reward for my finding. As I was leaving the Kimono Dance Theatre, the lady asked me one more question. "Would you like to keep the Riolu? He seems to like you." That was the day Sam and I met and became friends. I got grounded for 2 months for that but I had my first friend.
When I was 10 I left home. It wasn't your average adventure. I didn't leave by choice. One day an injured Abra turned up in my garden. Both my parents were out and I was hanging around with Sam, the Riolu. Being who I am, I rushed to help it. Not being a medical professional or anything like that, I could only tell that it was hurt, nothing more. I sent Sam to fetch food for it, hoping that a meal might help. It seemed to feel a lot better after the meal so I decided to care for it. After a week of secretly caring for it, the Abra was healthy enough to go on its own. As I was hugging it goodbye it used teleport. I ended up somewhere I had never seen before. I had never been outside Ecruteak city so pretty much everywhere was new. I later discovered it was somewhere near the lake of rage.
Thankfully a trainer was nearby and noticed my bewilderment. He was about 14 I think, it was a while ago. Anyway, the trainer told me where I was, gave me a bit of money and 10 pokeballs and wished me luck. It was the strangest conversation I had ever had. The trainer hadn't even explained what the pokeballs did. So, with Sam and the Abra following me, I walked into town to try and find someone to help. It didn't take long to find someone to teach me the basics. After that I started my adventure for real.
I will skip the majority of my travels, most of them being minor learning experiences. I nicknamed the Abra Magic Man, which I later shortened to MM. With 2 pokemon I decided to go challenge the Gym leaders. That was a mistake. I had beaten some trainers during my early journey but I wasn't ready. I started with Falkner and lost, spectacularly. After the battle, Falkner gave me some good advice; get a good team together, earn their trust and then think outside the box.
With that advice I returned to where my journey had started, lake rage. I met Shunt there. Shunt was a Flaafy at the time. He had made his home on a hill right next to the path to lake rage. This was a problem for many people who wanted to witness the migration of Magikarp. Quickly going over my pokemon; Sam, MM, Who? (A Noctowl I had picked up right after my fight with Falkner), I wondered how best to get past the stubborn Flaafy. I decided to use MM to try and distract the Flaafy while I used Who? to put it to sleep. That way I could capture it. Unfortunately right before Who? was is position the Flaafy spotted her and KOed her with one attack. Thankfully Sam had been making his way up to the top without being noticed. Sam had been with me for a long time and was my strongest pokemon. He still is, mind you. One Return was all it took. I named the Flaafy Shunt because of how difficult it is to change his mind on anything.
I travelled, catching pokemon as I went. Most I released rather than keep them in a box. One I caught was a baby Larvitar. It was badly injured but refused any help, attacking anyone who went near it with a sharp stick. Luckily for me Who? didn't need to get close to subdue it. I caught it and took it to a pokemon centre. When it healed, Nurse Joy offered to let me travel with it and keep it from getting that harmed again. I accepted and kept it although it took a long time for the Larvitar to trust me. I named her Thorn after the stick she carried even after the pokemon centre. She stopped carrying it when she evolved.
When I reached the age of 15 I had finally got hold of all the badges in the Johto region and was prepared for the League. I had a team of 6 and the brains to accompany them. I breezed through the fights and made it to the top 16 without having to use Sam at all. In my fight for a place in the quarter finals I decided that Sam needed to get some experience in a contest fight. He took out 3 of my opponents pokemon in a row before I returned him. I used Sam in the quarter finals too, securing my place i n the semis. Unfortunately disaster struck. While I was fighting at the indigo plateau my mother had fallen gravely ill. I found out the day before my fight and had to drop out. I am still not sure if it was a bad thing. The person who I might have fought in the finals looked dangerous.
So I went home for a year, caring for my mother. She thankfully improved and recovered. Unfortunately her illness gave her trouble with sleeping which she still has to this day. As such I left Who? with her to help her sleep.
When I left I moved on to the Kanto region. I released 2 of my league pokemon into the wild at the border so that they could roam free. I quickly took the first 4 gym badges in Kanto. I would have gotten 6 in the first 2 months but unfortunately the annual snorlax sleeping contest prevented me from getting to Vermilion City. I had to detour to visit Mr Fuji and borrow his Pokeflute in Lavender town. Unfortunately the Snorlax I had woken up was a bit angry and attacked me. I tried to avoid it for as long as possible but in the end I had to fight. I almost got squashed by a Giga Impact but a last second pokemon release is the only reason I lived. MM saved me with a teleport. Using MM's superior manouverability we defeated the Snorlax. Finally able to enter Vermillion City, I rushed to the Gym.
With all the badges from Kanto I had the option to try the Pokemon League again. I might have won if I had entered but at that time I wasn't really interested in the league. I wanted the badges to prove to myself that I still had the capability to win fights. Instead I decided to watch the battle of other people. It was during the league that I traded for Nont. She is my Salamence and she flies me places when I need to get there fast.
After the league, I went back home. My mother was sleeping better, my father was now a pokemon breeder, caring for any pokemon that entered the garden. He has named most of the ones that live there now. It was very amusing being introduced to them. My favourite was an Eevee. The rare pokemon had somehow made it to my garden even though they aren't usually found anywhere near my house. Nor are they very common. The strangest thing was that the Eevee was silver instead of the usual brown. I introduced my pokemon to the other wild residents of the garden.
When I heard about the Orre region becoming inhabitable I decided to begin my journey again. Thorn however had found a place in the garden she liked and decided that moving would be too much trouble. That meant I had to find a 6th pokemon. I couldn't come up with any pokemon to take unfortunately.
On the night before I was set to leave, my father suggested that I took the Eevee that I had taken a shine to with me. That was how Sliver joined the group.

Sam (Riolu) - Lvl 55 - Rock Smash (TM), Sword Dance (TM), Return (TM), Aura Sphere (Special) - He is my first pokemon and my closest friend. He is calm and silent. I rarely see him interacting with anyone even my own other pokemon. He is fast and has high attack but his defense is weak. I have been trying to teach Sam Close Combat but its not worked yet.
MM (Alakazam) - Lvl 52 - Role Play (From Kadabra), Shock Wave (TM), Focus Blast (TM) - MM stands for Magic Man, and he was my second pokemon. MM is a very happy and trusting pokemon, always quick to laugh. He makes friends among pokemon quickly.
Shunt (Ampharos) - Lvl 50 - Volt Switch (TM) - Shunt is the most stubborn pokemon I know. She will not budge when she has her mind made up. If it comes to a clash of wills, I think I lose, but only because Shunt shoots lightning.
Nont (Salamence) - Lvl 51 - Dragon Rush (Breeding), Dragon Tail (TM), Airial Ace (TM) - I met Nont only recently through a trade. Though we only recently met eachother we still have a strong bond of trust. Nont seems a little too quick to trust and a little too easy to betray. Once you break her trust, I have not seen anyone regain it.
Chunky (Snorlax) - Lvl 48 - Retaliate (TM), Metronome (From Munchlax), Counter (From Bred Munchlax) - Chunky spends all his leasure time sleeping or eating. I don't think I have ever seen a pokemon so relaxed. I have been thinking of investing a pokeflute to make sure he is awake during the fights. Its a shame that he gets angered very quickly when you stop his relaxation. Otherwise he would be almost as calm as Sam.
Sliver (Eevee) (Shiny if possible) - Lvl 22 - Sliver is probably my rarest pokemon and the only one I don't use in fights. He has never looked for a fight and I am reluctant to enter him in a battle. Sliver is a loving and slightly naive pokemon. A bit of travelling will help him learn. Maybe one day we will battle together but that day may be a long time off.

Who? (Noctowl) - Lvl 30 - Who? is one of my oldest pokemon. She and I went through a long road together. We grew apart a bit when my mother fell ill and I had to leave her behind. During that time, Who? and my mother became good friends. Who? is basically my mother's pokemon now.
Thumper (Wobuffet) - Lvl 46 - Thumper used to be my heavy hitter. He never went down alone. The only reason I left him behind is because of my father. Thumper was the only pokemon that was quieter than Sam, it was very disconcerting at times.
Thorn (Tyranitar) - Lvl 43 - Thorn has changed the most out of my pokemon. She went from being a pain to everyone to being the most concerned pokemon I own. She has become very motherly in the past month or so since she evolved into a Tyranitar. I wonder if that means anything. If she hadn't started smothering me in attention, I would have brought her along instead of Chunky. It's difficult to go places when a Tyranitar is constantly trying to hug you.

P- "N-No... not that I know of..."

*scribble*'Alright, how old are you again?'
P- "S-seventeen..."

*tap tap*'Ahem, it's quite obvious but what gender are you for the record?'
P- "Female..."

*scribble skrit* 'Describe your appearance for us, please. Be very descriptive, perhaps about eight sentences or more.'
P- "U-Um... I stand at a height of 129.54 centimeters, about 4 feet and 3 inches tall, and weigh around 116 pounds... I think. I have a small face that forms an almond shape and my skin tone is light... almost pale even. M-My body is... a small frame a-and... I'm a bit... underdeveloped. I have lavender hair that falls down to my... my... b-buttocks and my bangs split apart from the middle of my forehead. I do sport my hair in different styles, h-however, only two styles are the most apparent to people, which are between a single, white ribbon tied, high ponytail or a white ribbon tied bundle near the end of my hair tips. I have complete Heterochromia... so my right eye is a violet hue while the other is a crystal blue hue. They are centered around my pair of round shaped eyes. ... ... I-It... feels awkward... talking about myself..." *embarassed*

"My clothes... w-well... I like wearing... comfortable clothing... you could say. I wear tan shorts that reach under my knees, and... a gray cardigan, usually with one or two buttons buttoned, over a white T-shirt. I-I... don't have much of a fashion sense... My mother did pack me a violet one-piece dress... b-but I am too embarrassed to wear that in public. ...I carry, usually over my left shoulder, a violet and white shoulder bag, which has all my things that I brought from home and have obtained during my journeys. Some accessories I carry are, the Pokedex I received from Professor Elm and the Pokegear I received from my parents. ...I think that is about it."

P- "... I... don't really know where to start. W-Well... I am shy but I am trying to slowly get better... with socializing. I think... some of my Pokemon think I'm scary sometimes... I don't know why... maybe I lecture them too much? Though my parents were economically secured, rarely did they buy me things, and so I somewhat... ended up a little independent, but I am a bit lonely from time to time when I am by myself. Luckily, I have my Pokemon, who keeps me company through all those harsh times I have had. I've cheered up a bit and am not so negative about myself. I still have randomly occurring anemia attacks and so I try not to strain myself, especially during battle, which can become extremely heated. I-I have lost consciousness quite a few times from concentrating too hard. I guess... my first appearance really shows my meekness... b-because... I never initiate... when talking, of course. It's difficult talking to others... I think I am kind of like... another Jasmine... *flushes red*

My friends say I am a good-nature soul, but I think I am naive. There really is a lot I don't know about and... I seem to misjudge things a lot. I find myself a better listener rather than a talker because I enjoy listening to other people's stories. B-But it's not like I force them to tell me or anything... They just seem to want to talk to me after they meet me. I-I don't know why myself... And also... I have been known to doze off... "

*scratches head* 'What about your history? What regions have you journeyed to and who are the people you've met? It is alright if you may skim through some unnecessary coverage or parts that you do not feel like discussing, but we urge you to not be afraid to state anything. This must be at least twenty sentences.'

P- "History? T-Twenty?! O-Oh my... I-I shall get started then.
W-well, I was born in Olivine City... My parents were fairly successful business executives... and so they weren't home much. I was mostly left inside my home with the neighboring elders watching over me. I-I think they were fond of me since their children had grown up and were not living with them anymore,... so I was somewhat like a grandchild to them. I had some troubles as I grew up suffering from slight anemia, which really worried my parents... but after the age of 10, the doctors told me I had developed a well enough constitution to go traveling and the sort. ...I do still suffer from anemia, but it's not severe or anything. ...A-ah... I skipped some parts... As a child, on a few occasions, I remember meeting Jasmine, the Olivine Gym Leader. My parents told me she was a rather shy person but maybe it was with the adults... because when we met, she was very friendly and compassionate... like an angel. It was odd sometimes... s-since we were both shy to a fault... we had a many awkward but funny moments together. She really felt like a big sister to me.

G-Growing up, I had aspired to be like Jasmine. We talk with one another from time to time but her duties as Gym Leader somewhat interfered a bit, though I did not mind at all. I had seen her do Gym Battles with many trainers and it was breathtaking yet intense at the same time. ...At first,... I was afraid... I mean... I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to be like that... a good trainer and all, and yet... when I watch Jasmine... she really does try hard despite all her shyness and nervousness at times. She was the person that made me the trainer I am today,... o-oh... but if it weren't for my parents... t-then I would not be here too." *flushes red*

"At the age of 14, I finally started my first Pokemon journey. Jasmine knew Professor Elm and so she asked the Professor if he would be willing to spare a starter for me... I wasn't aware of Jasmine doing what she had done but maybe it was because I told her I was ready to start a Pokemon journey. My parents, though reluctant, allowed me to go on a journey and prepared some minor things as their way of saying goodbye. ...Oh and then I forgot I didn't have any Pokemon to start with. That day, Jasmine came to my home with a gift, she said, for me, a ticket to New Bark Town. I-I was extremely shocked when she placed the ticket into my hands. Jasmine accompanied me over to the pier where the boat that was to set off to New Bark Town was anchored at, almost ready to depart. As we both came to a stop before the ship, Jasmine turned towards my side, leaning her face closely towards my right ear, and whispered softly, "I hope we will get to meet soon." Jasmine smiled as I smiled back and nodded my head before I ran up the wooden plank. Tears were streaming down my face as I could only wave goodbye to her, my best friend."

*sniff sniff* "O-oh, excuse me..." *sniff* "I-I am so sorry. It is... a bit stupid of me." *smiles weakly* "B-But after that, it took a few days to get to New Bark Town where I got my first Pokemon, Cyndaquil. Professor Elm was quite interesting but he didn't want to keep me from my journey, and so he encouraged me off with a small tip in my pocket, 'Try leaving out one of your Pokemon as you travel. That way you will bond together even more!' I did what he said and left Cyndaquil out a lot as we traveled and we have become a family together. ...O-Oh my... I do hope I am not boring you... I-I will make things quicker.

M-My first region was Johto. I took about a year to get around the whole region, but during that time, I had finally got my fated battle with Jasmine as promised, so many months after I started. Meeting the other Gym Leaders was... interesting as well. They all have such unique personalities and I am quite glad I met them. After gathering all the badges, I took part in the Johto League. I-It was... spectacular for being there the first time. ...The tournament was so very competitive and the people were all on edge. I-I mean I was too since it was my first time there... All I remember was being nervous through the whole thing. I managed to get into the top 16 before losing to another talented trainer. I was quite amazed myself I even managed to get that high... it was quite depressing afterwards after that loss. I have lost a few times during my travels but losing in the league was a blow much heavier than I ever thought. After the tournament finished, I parted from some of the few new trainers I met there and decided to journey to another region.

Three other regions I journeyed through was Sinnoh, Hoenn and Unova, and though I haven't had the time to visit Kanto, I plan to in the future. Professor Oak's fame really made me eager to meet him but... I may be too nervous to say anything if I meet him. I made new friendships with all the Gym Leaders and learned greatly from each of their battles. E-Eventually, I participated in both the Hoenn and Sinnoh leagues but not the Unova League. I managed to get up to the top 8 in both leagues but was eventually eliminated. The journey through those regions took a little over two years and now I am where I am today. After returning home for a break after a long journey, I received the invitation to come here, the Tabi Tournament.
