Alright so obviously, this is the OOC thread for "Can't break me, won't shake me." Home to everything... OOC. ^^

First off, this roleplay is rated M.

Region: Sinnoh

Plot:

Bradyn Kipsingh first took on the art of Pokemon training at the young age of 12. He enjoyed some success, was an elite trainer for his age, and won quite a few Gym Badges. He made a good name for himself, although young, and although he had enemies he had far more allies. Hey... That's every young kids dream, right? Training Pokemon, winning, having plenty of friends and people to talk to, while not held to the rules of curfew, or "bedtime" by parents. It's basically a dream!

Wrong.

He started to miss his home. He started to miss his friends. He started to miss... The simple life! Oh yeah, and his mom too. Keeping his Pokemon that are closest to him, Bradyn took a step back away from the battles, the travel, and returned home to live with his parents at the new age of 14. Some of his closer friends criticized him, called him a quitter, as at the moment that he decided to step away he was on a bit of a losing streak. Nothing was going right, his Pokemon were beginning to become stand-offish towards him... All these things made sense to him of course, but apparently not to his friends. Friends, were now enemies, and the only people that he had a care for in the world were his parents and the Pokemon that he still had by his side.

Of course, life away from the battles was nice. It was really nice, in fact. However... Soon, his closest Pokemon, an experienced and brilliant Vaporeon, began to miss the battle life. Bradyn now 19, the life of going to the market, or going to the beach... While nice, it wasn't cutting it for Vaporeon. Especially with the annual Beach Battles coming up... An event that he and Bradyn had won all three times that the pair competed. Relaxing was nice, but battling, and proving your worth among the working force... THAT was what Vaporeon wanted.

And although Bradyn would never say it... He wanted it, too.

Enter the comeback.

Oh, and the real plot, too...

As Bradyn is now 19, and has been out of the battles for five years, most would say that he is behind in what trainers, and how battles go nowadays. Not the case. While it has been a while since he and his team of Eevee evolution's have been part of a battle, he has been training and working hard with them for the day. The day? The day of the comeback... In the back of his head, he always knew that he was going to make the return. It was just going to come with age. And now that he had age on his side... It was time for some experience.

Starting his travels back across Sinnoh, Bradyn stumbles across a tough new competition called Stars of Sinnoh: Battle till you Sink. SoS is now being held in Sunyshore City, due to the beautiful and beachy feel of the city. Also, the matches are to be held in a new, state-of-the-art, all-water facility. Of course, not all the trainers' Pokemon have to be of the water-type, and their will be arena's available to rise from the water for those Pokemon not of the water-type. Those of the water-type however, will indeed have a distinct advantage, as their are no rules stating that water pokemon, even if at the advantage, have to stay above water.

The entrant field for SoS is a measly eight, but the selected eight are some of the best. Bradyn fought hard for his spot, defeating a flurry of Sunyshore's most talented trainers to earn his spot in the tournament. It certainly was not easy, and it was certainly not without loss... A few of his Pokemon took on serious injuries, and are now out for the beginning/conclusion of SoS (Vaporeon is not among those, just an fyi). Working with a half-new, half-old team is sure to be a challenge, but Bradyn is determined and sure that he can make it through his challenges to become the Inaugural champion.

This is where YOU all come in.

Whether your path was easy, or it was difficult like that of Bradyn, your mission is the same as his: To become the champion on this new event. Whether you are making a comeback, or you've been around for a while... Obviously, who you are and what you do is up to you. Whether you're friendly, or you're mean... Again, up to you. The prize of winning the the title, although a new tournament, is huge. The winner of this tournament will receive the highest pay to date (something you can decide), as well as worldwide recognition of your accomplishments. Due to the state-of-the-art facilities design, and the fame of the (later to be identified) tournament host, each and every battle will be televised. Again, this will be worldwide. It will make more sense once the hosts' name is released, but I'm going to hold out on that for a while.

The tournament isn't without it's own demons, however...

Just like with any other tournament, or event of fame, the tournament has gained a lot of bad reputations. The big payout, while nice, has people wondering just who the host is... Is the host just a successfulbusiness man? An ex-trainer? Or is it an evil plot, by an evil organization in search of the next great team of Pokemon? So much speculation, so much anger... Trainers that are competing in SoS are going to have to be very careful with those that they trust. After all, the last person you trust... Might just be the last person you ever see.

Is the title worth it? Is the fame worth it? You decide.

Name: Seth Windsong

Nickname: None

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Spoiler:

The picture is merely a head-reference. For the head, the eyes are green and the hair is a darker shade of blue, but the rest is as you see in the picture.

Seth has an average build for a teenager. On top of that, he keeps a constant, neutral look on his face that doesn't often vary. He doesn't wear very elaborate nor outstanding clothing. Simple blue jeans, a green undershirt, a black sweatshirt, and black sneakers with neon blue laces are pretty much it. The band on his neck (also in the picture) is also there, but the charm hanging from it is a crescent moon.

Overall, Seth just seems average. Nothing more, nothing less.

Personality: Seth's emotional range covers all the basic emotions, but he keeps it to himself unless the feeling is so strong of an extreme that it can't be helped or he feels safe enough to express it. He keeps a front that separates him and everyone else. No one is going to unnerve him easily, but no one's going to work their way into his heart easily, too. If he manages to make a friend, though, he's got their back and will try what he can to help. Underneath it all he's a boy that wants to help people, but he constantly struggles between sticking his neck out for people and feeling like he has to withdraw before they cut it off.

In battle, Seth becomes a rather different person. His confidence really shows, and he seems more easy-going. That doesn't mean he allows the opponent to get the better of him.

History: Seth grew up alone in the Johto Region. His parents were owners of a small facility in Saffron that specialized in tag-team battling to help trainers gain experience for gym challenges and double-battle experience. Essentially, he raised himself in Goldenrod as his parents raised new trainers elsewhere. He had little friends in the large town because he shut everyone else out at a young age. They'd leave him too, Seth had thought.

Having traveled to just about every continent in the world (including the Orre Region), Seth has a wide range of experience with people. Most of it wasn't so great, though. Without showing much emotion, he didn't gain the favor of many people. In fact, most people seemed to avoid him. About half his team consisted of bad-reputation Pokemon (as in, Pokemon that were used for misdeeds in the past, and people formed a sort of bias against the people carrying them). Even if it meant nothing, many people treated him like a thief and wanted nothing to do with him. Other people tried to chase him out of town if he stayed longer than a week. This led to many Pokemon battles, and by extension a lot of battle experience. His team became powerful enough to enter the SoS in such a short notice. He decided it might help his reputation to participate, but he was ignorant of the tournament's shadows. He could be in some serious trouble as a younger member of the competition...

Seth made it to the eight-man roster by obliterating the lesser members in the preliminaries. Most of his battle-style is left to be discovered since he only needed two Pokemon to clear the first half. Many of the tournament's underground factions refer to him as "Gray Reaper;" having knocked out some of Sinnoh's more promising trainers and leaving the stage without so much as a single word. He isn't cocky, though. The other seven trainers left were to be his toughest opponents, and he'd face each challenge with all that he had.

Name: Nubia Sterling [Jin Yin]

Nickname: Jing

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance: Her appearance~

In addition to what you see here, Nubia's roughly 5'5" and weighs about 100 pounds.

Personality: Nubia is quite the eccentric and gregarious one. She doesn't mind getting in your face and bugging you with dozens of questions, nor does it matter to her if she's ignored or not. She loves talking to people, and is oblivious to their facial expressions and implications unless they're positive ones. She's definitely not afraid of embarrassing herself (which she often seems to do), especially when it comes to talking. Nubia has trouble speaking perfect English, so she'll sometimes get the word order mixed up or use the wrong word (think stereotypical non-English speaking foreigner).

With a demeanor like that, one could only imagine how Nubia became a well-renowed trainer. But if you were to meet her in battle, prepare for a shock. Nubia is extremely serious and concentrates 100% while battling; her facial expression hardly ever changes, regardless of the situation. She enjoys stat-altering moves, weakening her opponents' Pokemon or strengthening her own to the very end. Nubia is merciless in battle, only stopping an attack if the person forfeits or if his or her Pokemon is ill. Nubia also loves using Pokemon that are fast and agile, with some exceptions. Her main team members were not just chosen to fit a semi-oriental motif, after all.

Want to make Nubia happy? Give her anything oriental or Unovian. Having lived away from home for quite some time, Nubia's become rather homesick, so anything that reminds her of home is sure to cheer her up. Even if it's a simple Casteliacone, BridgeMail, or fortune cookie, she's sure to consider you a friend for life (whether you want such or not). On the other hand, Nubia has a great dislike for hold items that have a one-time use (albeit the Focus Sash). She claims they cost too much and are too annoying to find and purchase over and over again--especially since quite a few of them can only be bought with BP.

History: For the first three-quarters of her life, Nubia lived as Jin Yin in the land of Unova. Poor at the time, she resided with her family in a cheap apartment in Castelia City. Despite that, Jin managed to make the best of the situation and never stopped smiling. Her friends said she had a heart of gold and a soul of silver (a pun off her name, as "Jin" means "gold" and "Yin" means "silver"). Eventually, they started calling her "Jing", which meant "crystal". Jin took great pride in her new nickname and refused to be called anything else.

On the day she turned 10, Jin was offered the chance to set out on a Pokemon journey, like typical 10-year-olds were. Seeing this as a chance to support her family, Jin accepted the offer and headed to Nuvema Town, where she received her first Pokemon, a Snivy. His elegant, snooty-like appearance reminded her of a king, so she named him "Jun". It was then that Jin decided to capture Pokemon that would be useful in battle, and it was up to her to train them to be powerful.

Through the course of her journey, Jin managed to get a team of six wonderful Pokemon, Jun being one of them. She had Wu, an Accelgor, named such because he seemed like he'd make a good militia Pokemon. Then there was Cheng, a Mienshao, whose name meant "sincere". Ling the Gothitelle was named for her spiritual (or, in this case, psychic) power, while Xiu the Chandelure was named for her elegance. Last but not least, Qing the Eelektross was named for her color. Each Pokemon had his or her own specialty, and battled marvelously. Jin went on to beat the Elite Four with such a team, and later headed through the rest of Unova, entering all sorts of tournaments as well as taking on the Battle Subway. She won most battles, and racked up a lot of cash.

Now 12 years old, Jin had acquired enough cash for her family to live in a better settlement. However, rather than move someplace else in Unova, Jin's family decided to move to the faraway land of "Sinnoh". Jin had only encountered a few Pokemon native to Sinnoh during her travels in Unova, and so she wondered what the area was like. Was it going to be as beautiful as Unova? Were the trainers there any better? Were the Pokemon stupendous? Jin couldn't wait!

Upon arriving, Jin's entire family decided that they would change their names to something that didn't sound as "foreign". Jin was reluctant, but eventually gave in and became "Nubia Sterling". However, she continued requesting that she be called "Jing" by her family, and they agreed to such.

"Nubia" soon found herself living in Veilstone City, which her parents claimed was a lot like Castelia. Nubia disagreed. Regardless, she would not let these negative changes affect her outlook, and so Nubia set off to travel Sinnoh.

The trainers were disappointing; the Pokemon weren't too special (although Nubia took a liking to Kricketot and Kricketune)... Sinnoh wasn't anything like Nubia had hoped. She began to yearn for home, for her life back in Unova. But she knew it was impossible.

And then the tournament was announced.

"Stars of Sinnoh" had a pretty lame sound to it, but a tournament was a tournament, and Nubia had a feeling that she should enter it. She wanted to show this measly excuse for a region with Pokemon and trainers what a Unovian was capable of. Even with the locals warning her of its reputation and mystery surrounding it, Nubia would not back down.

Oh, by the way, if I do bring out pokemon from the PC to the battle, I will post in a spoiler the team's moves, nicknames, gender, and abilities. I'm just putting out the moves now so I will not forget. XD I may also delete/add pokemon later.

Switching out pokemon is indeed allowed. No one has to use the same team for each battle. I think it will make things just a little bit more fun.

So we are allowed to have obscene amounts of Pokemon like Miharu does? Okay, I guess I might add a few more. Probably as the story progresses though :S

Haha. Yes. They can be added in time; they don't have to all be up right now, but once the roleplay starts, all I ask is that the Pokemon you use for each battle, be up before those battles.

I'm sorry, but when has Miharu NEVER had "obscene amounts of Pokemon". Then again, before it was justified since she was a gym leader...but not really. And then when she was the Kanto champion...BUT NOT THOSE OTHER TIMES.

... for some reason it feels like I'm out of the loop somewhere XD

As for the small army of Pokemon, let her have it. It's not like Miharu can just throw a whole ***tton of pokeballs at the opponent and laugh at them. Besides, I'm sure everyone here has an equal amount of chance to surprise their opponents with surprise switch-ins; be it from a long list or a sudden switch :p

... As I have the chance to vouch ideas now, maybe there should be a loser's bracket for the other four trainers that won't be in the second half? I mean, it would be three extra battles max and it would add more fun.
