Tutorial: - Hack Mew - ; Advance Palette Editor.

This program is made to edit palettes of games without the struggle of a hex editor. Change your tiles before you edit the palette!

Follow the steps bellow to get into the palette editing bit.
  1. Open your rom.
  2. Click "Load by Offset"
  3. Enter the offset you are editting.
  4. Click the copy button in the actual palette section.

Search around the Tutorial Section for better Palette Finding Tutorials

Hex-Finding
  1. Open your rom in VBA
  2. Find an outside area
  3. Go to Palette Viewer in the Options Section
  4. Click on one of the colours
  5. Copy down the numbers shown at the bottom
  6. Find another one
  7. Put them together and search them in a hex editor

Finding it in APE
  1. Open your rom in a vba
  2. Find an outside area
  3. Go to Palette Viewer in the options section
  4. Copy down the codes for the colours; the ones that have 4 numbers.
  5. Open your rom in APE
  6. Click load by searching
  7. Enter the colours you used
  8. Click search

The Picture Tutorial; Rom has already been loaded.

List of Palettes.
Ruby/Sapphire
Pallete2: E94352
Pallete3: E94382
Pallete4: E943A0
Pallete5: E943C6

Fire Red/Leaf Green
Pallete0: EA1B60
Pallete2: EA1B80
Pallete3: EA1B90
Pallete4: EA1BEA

Fig1. The Rom has been loaded. Click the Load by Offset Button and enter your offset, after doing that click load. 16 Colours should come up below.

Fig2. Click the copy button next to the actual palette. (The picture with no brush or x or arrows.) The colours should show up in the changed palette section. Edit the colours there. It should say below in my picture which colours are used for what. Edit these colours as much as you want. Try to keep them sensible and matching.

Click the replace button and your done. If you want to edit another palette next to the offset should be an arrow (>), that should automatically go to the next palette. You should be able to tell which one it is because of the colours. Open your rom in Advance Map and check the palettes are alright.

Submit your own palette.

Awesome tutorial! This one actually works, and thanks to you, I now know Spriting, Scripting, Tile Editing, Mapping, AND Palette Editing!

Only one thing of this tutorial I didn't understand: How do you find your own offsets? (Such as the "E94352")

I'll post that up soon, it's also around the PC Aswell.
It involves using VBA.

Some people have been asking on how to find palettes like 8 and above.
This is one thing I don't really know, I beleive that theres something deeper with those palettes, cause they change from town to town. I beleive you would need to use the eyedropper and search for it. I can't explain this bit, sorry.

To Find the palette offsets in ape, you search for the row of palettes Through a
Hex editor. The offset where you find the Palettes is the one you search for in APE.

That is how you get 'EA1B60'. Hope it helped.

When trying to find backsprites or overworlds, just use the eyedropper in APE and click search, make sure you use at least 6 colours. Keep trying until you find it, it shouldn't take that long.

Use Unzl and search the male/female sprite and there should be a pallete offset,
Copy that offset to APE and there should be the male's/female's palletes,
and just edit em

I think I put this in the first post? Meh...

If your looking for overworld palettes, use the eyedropper and just to be sure, use six different colours to find your palette. If it's not the right one, try adding more.

I'll be updating the whole thread soon, but i'm busy

I'd like to edit pallets from the advance generation to the next one(D/P). How do you find the offsets for the D/P sprites? Ican allready edit pallets with my PS(it's only 5, so pallet editing is not quite easy for me), but that's to much. I'd like to do it with APE, I only don't know exactly how

There are no offsets for D/P Pokemon, they aren't in GBA games, and there are no programs to find their offsets in D/P.

(I'm going to redo the thread soon, i'm doing it up in word)
