rwby_remnant_kingdoms_by_dustiniz117-d7zpz39.png

Background

Remnant is a land comprised of four kingdoms; Vale, Vacuo, Atlas and Mistral. Far in the future, this land exists with high-tech weaponry, gadgets, vehicles and a natural energy called Dust. In this land all living things contain what is known as a Soul - the physical manifestation of an Aura; an innate energy that bestows the user with certain abilities and powers. These abilities give a person unique abilities representing an aspect of that person's character. This is called your Semblance. In this word, two intelligent species co-exist called Humanity and Faunus.

Mankind was born from Dust into a very chaotic and hostile world, being forced to battle for survival against dark creatures titled the Grimm. But over time, Mankind developed a power that could help them combat the dark forces. They named this power Dust, after that from which they came. Armed with this, Mankind fought back and were able to defeat the Grimm. In the absence of such a foe, Mankind was able to develop civilisation and spread throughout the world. Dust continued to be a large industry, giving rise to several large names. In the light of their victory, Humanity set up Academies at which students can train to become Huntsmen and Huntresses, warriors who risk their lives to defend Humanity from the ever present beasts of the Grimm.

Having survived such an onslaught however, Mankind quickly turned on itself, spiralling into self-destructive conflict. The largest of this was the Great War. A war fought over the concept of individualism. Each Kingdom fought for its own beliefs, but ultimately those fighting for the right to be an individual prevailed, allowing people become unified through diversity. However this didn't last, and another problem has arisen. Today, Mankind attempts to suppress the race known as Faunus to the small south-easterly area known as Menagerie which is also where our story begins...

Your Role

You play as either a member of Humanity or Faunus. Regardless of side you will possess special talent in the form of your Semblance. You will possess certain talents which, if you so choose, can be further manifested and strengthened through the use of a weapon. Faunus also have animal like traits, empowering their physical abilities, however this means their Semblance will not be as strong as a Human's. There is much tension between Humanity and Faunus, and tensions are high as revolution looks to break out.

Faunus - As a member of Faunus, you are oppressed and hated by Humanity. You are regarded with disdain and contempt by all Humans and often face physical confrontations. You are currently a novice Huntsman or Huntress, being tutored in a Faunus-run makeshift Academy. This Academy is simply titled the Faunus Academy. However in the light of the imminent revolution, your classes may involve a lot of teamwork and innovation on the front lines as your skills are needed. You will be expected to fight, and in doing so will gain experience and greater control over your Semblance, but also of your animalistic features. This means that your athletic abilities will also grow. Your goal as a member of Faunus is to successfully prevent the oppression of Humanity and gain equal rights to Humans. However not all Faunus are good, and some look to overpower Humanity and enslave them for eternity. Be careful who you choose to side with...

Humanity - As a member of Humanity, you are surrounded by members of your own race abusing and oppressing Faunus, however whether or not you join in is up to you. You are aware of the rising tensions, and a ominous atmosphere lays over the lands. You too are currently a trainee Huntsman or Huntress, studying in Beacon Academy in the Kingdom of Vale. However you too are about to gain first-hand experience in the field of combat, as the threat of revolution grows ever larger. You will not be expected to fight, but you will have to deal with the consequences of not fighting, such as distrust from Humans, as well as abuse and confrontation. As you fight, you will gain experience which will allow you greater control over your Semblance, and a deeper understanding of your own abilities, allowing you to be more creative with your weapons and skills.. Your goal as a Human is to survive the revolution that is imminent, however that may be.

Gameplay

This RP is mostly a sandbox RP, where your actions and interactions with other characters will drive the plot. You may fulfil the role of your character as you see fit, however I will be adding various events and scenes through which I shall push plots further within the RP. Locations available to your character will be unveiled as plots develop, and not all locations will be available to all characters. The RP will end when the revolution is concluded, one way or another.

In this RP, some confusion may be held over your Semblance and what exactly these do, and how to choose one. Semblances are mainly drawn from your character's personality, and will differ greatly from person to person. For example, a very hyperactive character would inherit a more speed-focused Semblance, allowing them to travel faster than normal, potentially reaching speeds faster than sound. Whereas a more head-strong character could potentially have the ability to absorb energy from damage they take, so they get stronger the more they get hit. However these Semblances can take almost any form, but can only give you one ability.

Semblances will start out weak, but as you gain experience and grow, you will be able to to manipulate your semblance to achieve more effects. For example you could start out with a Semblance allowing you to manipulate wind to buffer your opponents with, but as you gain experience you could learn how to control the wind better to form tornadoes, or use it in certain environments to have creative effects. It's recommended to choose a Semblance that you can develop and refine. A specific Semblance will give you little room to grow and will likely be declined.

As you fight and learn, you will gain experience. For the sake of this RP, this will be categorised into levels.

Level 1 - Your starting level and the level at which your Semblance control and understanding is at its most basic. Your abilities will also be at their most basic.
Level 2 - You have been pushed to develop, and are beginning to look at push yourself alone. Your Semblance control is still weak, but your abilities are improving.
Level 3 - You are now starting to develop your skills without an outside situation forcing you to. You are also gaining some understanding of your Semblance and your abilities continue to improve.
Level 4 - You are beginning to realise your full potential and your Semblance control is growing. You can now refine your Semblance into two abilities your character can lean on in battles. "Think spells".
Level 5 - You are mastering control of your body. Your abilities are reaching their peak athletically. You can also develop a new Semblance ability.
Level 6 - Your body has reached the peak of its athletic abilities. You can also develop a new Semblance ability
Level 7- You've mastered control of your Semblance, and you can develop an ultimate ability; one which can combine all others or be something entirely new. This ability is powerful but cannot be used often. This cannot guarantee victory when used either, but will be very powerful.

At first you will only be able to accomplish small feats, and your Semblance will only boost your skills slightly, aiding your fighting style in some way. You may also use a weapon, and details about weaponry creation will be detailed below. However later on your Semblance will play a bigger part and you can start to focus your battles around it, but enemies will also be developing along with characters. Various locations will include enemies that you can fight that will be members of the Grimm, in order to allow characters not wishing to kill Faunus or Humans to gain experience still. In Remnant, technology is highly developed, allowing for things like floating airships and holograms however bullet weapons are still relevant, so no laser rifles.

Weaponry

Weaponry creation is down to your creativity, and weapons are not a necessity, but not having a weapon could put your character at a significant disadvantage in some situations. Weapons can be mechanical, simple, or can be powered by Dust. Dust weapons are weapons which will be able to synergise with your Semblance, allowing you to manipulate your Semblance through your weapon. This means that various combos and techniques you develop with your weapon could help develop your Semblance, however will lock your Semblance to your weapon, meaning should you lose access to your Dust weapon for whatever reason, your Semblance will no longer be accessible to you until you retrieve it. Dust weapons do carry the bonus of being able to manipulate your Semblance to achieve various effects, left to your design. However your competence in doing this will rely on your control and understanding of your Semblance, as such a level 1 character will still only have minor benefits from the Semblance in combat, however these effects may differ slightly due to their weapon. How your Semblance varies is up to you.

Locations

Vale
Vale is a region full of dense forests and vast plains. Luscious and green, but due to the many darkened areas Grimm thrive here, meaning that Humanity is forced to remain in the large settlements. Within the region one can find the city of Vale, Beacon Academy, Emerald Forest and Mountain Glenn.

Menagerie
A small island region in the south east. A very rocky region, this area has few ideal spots in which to build a settlement. The majority of Faunus live here, however a few do manage to live in mainland regions such as Vale.

City of Vale
The bustling city of Vale is full of shopping centers, fancy restaurants and amusement parks. As the centre of trade for the other regions, the city of Vale is a very rich city. The people here are bright, and the buildings extravagant. The city was very quickly developed and has a large tourist count.

Beacon Academy
This large Academy is one of the best when it comes to quality of education. At its head sits Ozpin, a quirky man with a peculiar sense for fashion. Students here are advised to wear a uniform, but this isn't strictly controlled. Here there are many lecture theatres and many more sparring rooms. Each comes with training dummies and equipment for developing fighting techniques and skills. Students here are generally admitted at age 17, with some exceptional students being admitted earlier, but very few of them exist. Large libraries, a dining hall many dormitories and a cross-continent transmit service room can also be found. The amphitheatre is located in the centre of the establishment, with the main academy building circling around it and above it.

Emerald Forest
The largest forest in all of Vale, the Emerald Forest is particular for its evergreen trees which never lose their colour no matter what the season. The forest is inhibited with many monsters of Grimm, and can and will be used by students of Beacon Academy to gain first hand experience. The forest is very dark under the tree canopies, and extends for many leagues in all directions beyond the Academy.

Mountain Glenn
A reminder to Humanity that the Grimm are a constant thread. This ruins was originally intended to be an extension of Human settlements in Vale, however it was abandoned when Grimm attacks were too strong and too frequent to resist.

City of Porsh
This city of Faunus is situated on the island of Menagerie, the place many Faunus have been forced to live. It resides in one of the only areas suitable for a settlement to develop on the whole island, and the only area also defendable from the brutal attacks of the Grimm. This city offers a more diverse range of people, as Faunus from all over have been forced to congregate here, and personalities differ extremely. Fights are common, and shops are full of items and food necessary for survival. Luxury isn't a word that corresponds with this city.

Faunus Academy
A small academy built to train Faunus into Huntsmen and Huntresses more efficiently. This academy is quaint but gets the job done. There are few lecture rooms and practise rooms, but each serves its purpose. Often students will be taken into the plains to garner more first hand experience.

Menagerie Plains
The plains are everything that isn't the city on this island. The plains are dangerous, as they are full of caves and natural tunnels where Grimm can make themselves at home. There are also numerous valleys which appear unexpectedly, and provide a falling hazard for travellers.

Artemis Gale

The Lone Wolf

19 // Human // Female

Backstory

"An early morning breeze blew gently through the streets of a small Atlasian town. The
sun had not yet risen, and silence permeated the area. All was not at rest, though, as the several large forms lumbered through the shadows.

Meanwhile, in a small bakery in this same town, a middle-aged woman was hard at work preparing for the day to come. She patiently sifted flour, while a young girl, sat beside her holding the bowl which caught the resulting material. The door was open, allowing the cool air to counteract the heat from the large oven.

Suddenly, a large and terrifying creature smashed through the threshold of the bakery. Snarling, enraged, the massive grimm stared menacingly at the two figures in the room.

Frozen in fear, the woman and the child locked eyes with the beast for a split second, barely able to breathe. After a split second, however, the woman snatched up the girl from where she was standing, and in one motion thrust her towards the open window. At that same moment the grimm charged, and as the young girl slid across the room and out the window, she could only watch as her protector was mercilessly mauled by the hulking black beast.

Such was the day Artemis Gale lost her mother, and the day she vowed revenge on the grimm."

Personality:

Determined. That word alone describes the core of Artemis' personality. Motivated by the loss of her mother, Artemis has dedicated her life to becoming a huntress and seeking vengeance on the creatures that cost her her only family. She will do whatever it takes to become a master huntress, pursuing her training and studies with a fervent single-mindedness.

She has no time for people who get in her way, and can be rather blunt when in such situations. Otherwise, Artemis keeps to herself, and tries to keep an emotionless front. In reality, she internalizes her feelings, not allowing them to be dealt with, thus complicating matters in the long run.

Artemis has few friends, which is not surprising considering her rather icy exterior. For the few she does have, however, she is completely loyal to, and would do anything to protect.

It may be worth noting that Artemis blames herself for her mother's death, regardless of her inability to stop it. She has based her entire life around this event, and it affects her in numerous ways, both positive and negative.

Appearance:

Artemis is an average sized human female, with a medium build defined by rigorous physical training. Her hair is a dark brownish-black hue, and her eyes are of a silverish tint.

Her typical outfit consists of a leather-eque blouse and pants, along with thick-soled boots and occasionally gloves. When in combat, Artemis dons a set or protective metal bracers, greaves, and pauldrons. This lightweight armoring helps to stop blows and prevent severed limbs.

Semblance: Focus

Using her semblance ability, Artemis is able to increase her perception of the world around her. Time slows down, and weak points in the targets are easily identified. This focused state is leaves Artemis in a wearied state after use, and increased usage will drain her even more. If she were to use these abilities for too long, after she could potentially overexert herself to the point of no return, leaving herself in a coma or worse. Therefore, her semblance is typically only use d in short bursts, with plenty of cooldown in between. As with most other Hunters/Huntresses, the strength of her abilities is tied to her aura, meaning that although these powers may start out relatively weak, as Artemis grows more in tune with her aura, her abilities will increase in power.

Weapon

Artemis wields a carbine rifle similar to those of the Atlas Military, although it has been heavily modified and customized. Grimmslayer, as she calls it, also contains a pair of short swords that eject from the back of the gun. Grimmslayer rests on a sturdy armstrap that hangs from Artemis' shoulder, which comes in handy because she refuses to go anywhere without her weapon.

Roleplay Sample

Gunpowder post (yes I did that once upon a time)

Jairo & Sahn Xill
The Xill siblings
5IXIusE.png

Ages: 18

Gender: Male (Jairo) & Female (Sahn)

Races: Spider Faunus

Personality: Being part of a former pseudo-hivemind, it comes as a surprise that Jairo and Sahn's personalities are very different, conflicting even. While Jairo might be the more intelligent of the two, he is by far the most cunning, manipulative, and vengeful. Empowered by an undying thirst for human blood and suffering, he is easy to provoke and difficult to reason with. With friends and allies, he is a deceptively charismatic speaker, often using false promises, threats and coercion to forge alliances. However, he is surprisingly protective of Sahn, when it comes to matters that cannot be resolved by a good knock to the jaw. Jairo is a skilled composer, pianist, violinist and viopianist.

Once destined to be the future queen of the Xill clan, Sahn, the large and muscular sister of Jairo, now follows her brother through Remnant. Despite her lumbering and intimidating appearance, Sahn is in fact the more emphatic of the two. Being much less intelligent than her brother, she is dependent on him for assistance. Naive, obedient and loyal, she is a woman of few words and acts as her brother sees fit, rarely questioning his authority. Despite being technically the same age as Jairo, her memories only stretch for a few years back - resulting in her taking an almost childish approach on most situations if left unattended. Sworn to protect her brother with her life, she acts as Jairo's bodyguard - prioritizing his safety over everything else.

Appearance: Let's begin with this... Spider-people are not pretty.

Both Jairo and Sahn share a few traits (along with most spider faunus): Both possess rather dark skin, being deeply tanned. All of their arms, legs, and backs are lined with sparse inch-long bristles, replacing body hair entirely (aside from the head). They also both possess an extra pair of jet-black eyes on their foreheads; albeit smaller and narrower than regular eyes. Their incisor teeth are also replaced with sharp fangs, causing them to stick out a little. Their arms and legs (more noticeably in Jairo than in Sahn) are slightly disproportionately long. They both sport slow-growing jet-back hair which is dry, stiff and extremely difficult to cut.

Moving on to individual differences, a key difference between Jairo and Sahn is the amount of limbs. While Sahn possesses a normal amount of limbs, Jairo, on the other hand, owns an extra set of arms, sprouting from the sides of his ribcage. Being born with them, he has full control over them and has taught himself to play the piano and violin with them at the same time. His hairstyle is minimalist and is similar to an army cut. He is extremely weak and diminutive (standing at a mere 4 feet), resulting in him being highly agile and speedy - but easy to hurt and throw off (in the literal sense). Another key difference between him and his sister is his unique ability to eject silk from his mouth. While this ability is present in all spider faunus, it is usually dormant and unusable. However, through enough training, Jairo has managed to awaken the organs responsible for silk production, resulting in him being able to spit out globs or ropes of web at walls, people or objects. In terms of attire, Jairo does not wear too much. Aside from a quiver for his violin, he does not wear any chest clothing or armor, and prefers instead to wear a pair of old brown shorts. He is rarely seen wearing any footwear, preferring to go barefoot on Sahn's back.

The major defining factor of Sahn's appearance would be her gender. Female spider faunus are much rarer than male faunus, as a single queen can give birth to almost a hundred children. In order to fulfill this task, females are born to be naturally larger than males (and Sahn's 6'3 height is a perfect example). In addition to this, they are fed, trained and raised to become as large and powerful as they can become - which is why Sahn is extremely muscular compared to her brother. She also possesses a trait unique to females - a dislocatable jaw. Her jaw muscles are strong that a single bite from a dislocated Jaw can break the bones (If not a few teeth however) of an enemy. In terms of hairstyle, she has short, jet-black hair, which she keeps tied in a bun behind her head using a webstring band. As for clothing, she is usually seen wearing a brown iron and leather chestplate, coupled with leather pants and heavy metal boots.

Semblance:
Dreadsong
It is quite uncommon for athropod faunus to possess a unique semblance, as they mostly live in close-knit communities, often led by a dictatorial king or queen as master of the hive mind. In such cases, the semblance is defined by the leader of the group and not by any of the individual members, causing them to all possess the same semblance.

This is not the case with the Xill siblings. Since their separation from their group, the duo have managed to forge a symbiotic semblance - one so powerful that if one of the two were to perish or become incapacitated, the other's would become useless and ineffective. Jairo's violin, aptly named The Black Widowmaker, is a dust-infused intrument which acts out the siblings' semblance. Dreadsong, a fast-paced, rhythmical battle piece composed by Jairo himself (inspired by battle themes of his former clan), curses everyone who hears it - both friend and foe - with a sense of fear and dread. Awakening the most primal instincts within any creature, this tune is enough to make feeble minds collapse in paranoia, and plant worry in even the most determined fighters. However, being Jairo's own creation, the theme does not affect neither him or his sister negatively. Quite the contrary; with it being a battle theme, the song is meant to empower and motivate - quite literally in Sahn's sense. While it does not have any physical alterations, hearing Dreadsong empowers Sahn with an acute burst of adrenaline and spirit, greatly increasing her pain threshold and stamina. However, Jairo has not perfected the song as of yet, meaning its effects are likely to be short and less powerful in certain situations.

However, this ability comes with a price. If the song is played for too long, the musician is prone to its effects, and in a much more acute way than other listeners, reaching the level of extreme paranoia and suicidal actions. For this reason, Jairo rarely ends the song, often stopping abruptly when he feels the job is done. Despite knowing the circumstances, the tune nonetheless has a finale - one he hopes he will never have to hear.

Weapon: Jairo's weapon is an unconventional but very durable rosewood violin, crafted by his own hand(s). Named The Black Windowmaker for its dark brown color and dust infusion, the cords and bowstring are all made of spider silk, the dust making them as strong as iron cables. The underside sports a small piano-like keyboard, which is covered by a retractable wooden lid. When playing his music, Jairo often uses 2 arms to hold and play the violin, and two to play the piano side. The bow can also be separated to reveal two small, identical twin daggers, which Jairo uses for self-defense. With the press of a button, the tip can also reveal a gun barrel which can be fired with the piano keys and reloaded from the side. It can be loaded with either regular bullets, or web cartridges which Jairo keep a few of in a small compartment in the violin too. He carries the instrument on his back in a small quiver-like bag.

Sahn, on the other hand, being far too clumsy for a weapon, wears a set of chainmail gloves with spiked brass knuckles, sharp enough to pierce most metallic armor. The spikes can be ejected a short distance and replaced if they worn out/broken, allowing for some sort of ranged ability. When not in use, she hangs the gloves in a belt around her waist.

Victor Strossen
8S1fUoj.png

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Race: Fox Faunus

Personality: If people could be so simply described as the spirits of old that seem to embody personified traits of one element or another, Victor would be somewhere between wind and water. People often think of him as very relaxed and aloof, never seeming to let anything get to him unless it's a happy emotion, but this couldn't be further from the truth. In reality, Victor feels every emotion so strongly that sometimes one emotion can dominate his entire persona for a moment, there just simply aren't a lot of things that inspire anger or sadness in him. Very few things get to him, but those that do really hit him hard.

In social situations Victor tends to seem like the life of the party, being outgoing, charismatic, as well as quite flirtatious when he sees a beautiful girl. However, whenever he has more freedom and no expectations to keep up, he almost always wanders off to be by himself if he doesn't feel needed for something. Despite being very proud of his skills and talents, Victor always acts ashamed of his ears, often putting extra work into his relaxed stoic facade just to try and keep them still. He even actively tries to hide his ears and his tail when around anyone he thinks might care that he has them, whether they'd like them or not, and he absolutely cannot stand the thought of anyone touching his overly-sensitive ears. The one aspect of his heritage that Victor is very proud of is his teeth, always doing his best to flash his pronounced canines whenever he smiles.

Victor tries his best not to let anybody know how he feels about most things, but he actually has a very strong moral compass. He especially values loyalty, being extremely protective of anyone he likes when it counts, despite being more than willing to teach them a lesson himself if they do something wrong. He also doesn't have any particular distaste for humans, mostly because he knows his own kind are capable of equally heinous acts. But he is certainly very weary of them, and expects most he meets to be hostile. Whenever humans are around he can't help trying to be the one to deal with them, whether peacefully or not, so he can be a buffer for his fellows.

Appearance: Victor is the epitome of gracefully, and regally handsome, without being nearly muscular enough to be an adonis. He is fittingly tall at 6 feet, with creamy skin as if the sun can't darken him and a lithe, but strong figure. His eyes stand out even from his animalistic features in their color, with irises a rich shade of purple that would remind one of the sky's earliest twilight if they looked closely enough. Victor's hair is a powerful gold-tinged orange that can only be described as "sunset-colored" with the white tips of his ears and tail being the only exceptions. It hangs loosely, but neatly around his head, stopping a little bit above and a bit below his eyebrows in the front, at around his ears on the sides, and to his shoulders in the back.

Victor's casual wear consists of a simple white polo shirt with red trim on the collar and red buttons, a pair of worn black slacks and beat-up old tennis shoes. His shoes aren't in very good condition, but he can't really afford a nicer pair, and he's fine running barefoot if he has to anyways.

Victor's battle dress is much more serious and surprisingly ornate, almost formal in appearance, as they consist of his only family heirlooms. When prepared to fight he dons a black kimono with a cerulean belt, and a black men's hakama tight enough that it almost looks like it's simply a pair of loose pants. After properly clothing himself for combat he covers his face with an armored mask of the same colors as his kimono, not wishing anyone to see his face should it ever be twisted with bloodlust

Semblance:
Symil Anima
Victor and a select few members of his family have the strange ability to put not only their aura, but a manifestation of their 'will' into otherwise inanimate objects. This has the potential to give the object a certain amount of consciousness, allowing the user to control it to a point like telekinesis. With enough power and mastery, this can even make objects the semblance is used on act almost completely autonomously as if they were alive. This ability even seems to use very little energy unless used on many, or some very large objects at once, to the point where using it on a single object sometimes doesn't even bring a noticeable drain. The longer or more often an object is affected by Symil Anima, the more it becomes attuned to the user's energy and will, with enough repeated use some of it's minor effects can even become permanent.

Also of note is a strange effect that is thought to be related to the semblance, though there's no proof considering it doesn't seem to have anything to do with their abilities. Everyone with Symil Anima within them seems to naturally smell lightly of cherry blossoms when they are clean, without any sort of conditioning for it at all.

Weapon: Carolyn, Victor's only weapon is a unique dust-infused two-headed cross between a halberd, a lucerne, and a sniper rifle. At each end Carolyn has a bladed spearhead like that on a partizan, flanked by a broad axe blade on one side, and a maul hammer head on the other. Inside of Carolyn are the mechanisms for a high powered rifle, gathering energy from wind-infused dust to shoot high caliber rounds with precise accuracy from one end, and withering rapidfire from the other, with the spearhead on either side opening to let the bullets fly unabated. Carolyn's body is a glossy scarlet metal, with the heads being polished silver in hue. The rounds fired from Carolyn, regardless of their size sparkle with a golden light, adding visual impact to the physical impact. Carolyn can be separated into two pieces to be used in each hand, functioning like hand-axes or small war hammers and firing like flintlock pistols while apart.

Thanks to years of use with his semblance, and to already being infused with dust, Carolyn seems to be permanently affected by Symil Anima. Despite its daunting size and crushing weight Victor can wield it with ease, almost as if it is trying to move with him when he uses it. He has yet to explore what other possibilities the development may entail.

Put me down too. I'm thinking about playing a barbarian-ish character that fights with a morning star, from which he can launch the top as a bomb.

Black Gil

Male || 22 years old || Human

Personality: Black Gil, or Gil as he prefers to be called, in all the essence of the word, is a coward. Gil does not prefer to fight in times of trouble; instead, he will always look for a way out of any confrontation. He hated it when his parents basically forced him to train in being a Huntsman; it was never his dream to be out in the front lines, battling forces of the Grimm and what not. In fact, he wanted to be a researcher.

He is a lover of knowledge. He tends to read books in his free time about any topic he can think of. While being a coward prevents him to join from the battle, he still want to contribute something to the effort. He believes that by researching the origins of everything, he can pinpoint the exact moment and reason why the conflict started. From there, the real conflict can be solved.

Despite being cowardly, he is not hated by most people as Gil is a fairly-outgoing guy. He loves crowds and he prefers being in one rather than alone. He is tactless and rude at times but he can easily pass it off as comedy.

Appearance: Black Gil is not the benchmark for good-looking guys but he is not hard on the eyes. Standing at six-foot-two, Gil can be described as something akin to a bamboo tree; really tall but really lanky. Gil is not muscular in any sense of the word. He is crowned by a long black hair that partially covers his almost-gray eyes. He has no distinct facial features; no facial hair, no scars. Black Gil will not stand out in a crowd when people look at appearances.

He is a nice dresser; not exceptional, but nice. His wardrobe consists of long sleeves that he always kept folded up to his elbows. He doesn't want to wear neck ties, although there are times when he is seen wearing his favorite red bow tie.

Semblance: Absolute Intangibility

Absolute intangibility is the ability to selectively be tangible and intangible. With the full power of his ability, Gil can choose to materialize and rematerialize at will. He can also use this ability as a means to escape immediate danger by letting the danger pass right through him. However, since his powers are not fully developed, Gil cannot control when he will be intangible or tangible at times, giving this power a pseudo-random effect.

Weapon: Gil does not have any weapon of choice but uses whatever is available as he really does not want to fight.

Caroline (Carol) Björk

Female Goat Faunus, 20 years old

Personality:

Carol always has her face in a book, whether it be for school or hobby though is the flip of a coin. She's at the top of her class in terms of grades despite how often she drifts in and out of her daydreaming. Carol always sees the best in others as well as the events that unfold around her. When her family was forced away to live in a small hole in the wall she wasn't even upset. It gave her just the right amount of space to live in and decorate with her drawings and writings as she falls asleep at night.

Appearance:

Carol has all the right curves in all the right places. Thick thighs, thinner waist, and a more heavy and bustier top to balance it all out. A perfectly straight smile which hides behind thinly pursed lips compliments beautifully the more rugged square definition of her jaw and cheekbones. Small horns peek out from underneath pinkish-grey hair done up in a bun to the back and bangs cut in two braids that fall to each side of her face. Half rimmed square glasses obstruct the view of her hazel eyes and rest atop the freckle speckled bridge of her nose. On more casual outings she likes to wear a black sweater with a darker faux fur lining the hood. Beneath it she wears a yellow blouse with matching mini skirt. To go with it she wears knee high black socks with yellow vines climbing the sides, and she prefers to go barefoot.

Semblance: Destiny - Læraðr's Leifr

Carol is like the trunk of a tree. Each time she writes in the book hoping or wishing for something to become reality, a branch grows out from her and extends to touch someone or something mentioned within the passage. When the two become connected, Carol subconsciously emits her will or desire to them and plants the idea in their mind. Whether the person or persons follow up on it or not is up to their will as well as several other minor by-the-by factors. At the moment her power is only activated when she sleeps as she has no real control over it. But each time that she does activate it/fall asleep, the unrealized wishes or ideas that she's had are sent out again. They continue to be sent until the target dies, Carol dies, the wish is realized or Carol's wishes change.

For example, if Carol wanted to have Rick come and talk to her but didn't have the courage to just go up and get to know him then she would write something to the effect of wishing or hoping that he would come and talk to her. If he had nothing going on or already had an interest in Carol then Rick would talk to her the next day. However if neither is true then it might be the next day or the day after before he even turns his head in her direction. But if she finds out in the next day or so that she hates his guts and never wants to talk to him again then the connection will be broken and they'll go about their lives as normal.

Weapon: Book-shield

The item was found beneath a withering willow tree when Caroline was twelve years old. From that time on it was treated as a personal diary, and only when she turned seventeen did she find that it could change from a book to a shield. When in shield form the pages tear from their bindings and wrap them around Carol's body, providing a protective layer that stops blunt strikes and lessens the impact from minor explosions. When in book form, the item is like a computer. Each page houses a monitor which is activated by touch and is long enough to fit a month's worth of musings or diary entries in it which can be viewed by using the scroll bar to the side. The book is roughly one-hundred pages long, indicating that at some point it will have an end.

.... I just watched the first "episode" of RWBY. It was good! I'm actually eager to watch more haha. But are there faunus there or is that an invention of Aiden's?

I might play a human actually because I want to have a strooong Semblance, tehee c:

WIP!

name: Jank Etheran
age: 19
gender: Male
race: Human

personality:
excited
nervous
paranoid
helpful
talkative
agile
doesn't know when to shut up
acts before thinking

appearance:
tall
slim
dark skinned
black hair in a vivid afro he tries to tie up into a "ponytail" (which ends up being a rabbitbun?)
somewhat muscular, since he's been wanting to become a Huntsman since forever and trained rigorously, but still not bulky
purple eyes, connected to his semblance

semblance: SPACE DISTORTION
Distortion is a fancy summarizing name for what Jank does. It started when he got really flustered and paranoid once and just wanted to be anywhere but where he currently was.... And suddenly, it became true. With a flash of purple light and black smoke, Jank found himself on the other side of the city. It took a while until he could learn to "teleport" by his own will, but that's the most basic form of his semblance: teleportation. At least that's what we call it for the time being.

Sometimes, he loses things even though he is sure of where he put them. Some items were lost forever, while others turn up in the strangest of places. The only reasonable explanation must be that he has accidentally teleported the items, and not just himself. And that is, of course, right on spot. When he becomes more attuned to his semblance and learns to understand its true nature better, he will be able to formulate spells to teleport far, several times in succession, bring others with him, teleport items or other people without going himself, and even summon other items or people - initially by knowing exactly where they are or talking to them, later by sensing them through the distortions he is connected to. But now we're talking his high level spells here. His "ult"... Well. The true nature of this semblance?

He doesn't simply teleport. He passes through another dimension, or other world, very very briefly, when he changes places in our world. That world is much smaller than ours, and as such he needs to physically travel a MUCH shorter distance there before he distorts space back and returns to our world. In the blink of an eye, literally. The black smoke that is hard to hide when he uses his distortion abilities, probably comes from the atmosphere in that other dimension. The purple plasma he uses in his guns though, is his Aura channeled and manifestated as raw power. His eyes also glow brighter when he's been teleporting himself, and interestingly this can lead to headaches when he's been fighting hard or for very long. Because normally in battle, he teleports around the battlefield to surprise his enemies and avoid taking damage. As long as he doesn't overdo it, that annoying headache behind his eyes won't be overwhelming.

His ultimate technique then, if we ever get that far. It could be that he stays a bit too long in that other dimension, and gets affected by the black smoke and powers that reside there. The headache goes overboard and he'll feel like he's about to explode but something else happens instead... Some kind of boost will occur, that might be pretty dramatic. But yeah. Maybe not plan everything already, we'll see what fits best when we get there :3

weapon: Gundaggers. Yes. Two Dust powered handguns fitted with daggers, so they are just as good for stabbing as for shooting black-smoking purple energy bullets with.

Okay, this looks fun. But I've never seen RWBY and there are already a lot of people joining, so I'll probably sit this one out. Have fun, though!

Ludger Demaine
The Card Master

607358d5daaacaa778484675549f78f1_bp.jpg

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Personality: Ludger views life as a game, with fortune and fate merely elements controlled perhaps by an unseen gamemaster. This means that he seldom takes anything seriously and his mischievous mind constantly wanders off to places nobody knows. This conceives a sense of detachment and aloofness that makes him, in the eyes of others, socially awkward. Naturally, he does not care about social norms or dynamics; the only rules he'd be interested in are those of games. What people may think about him would not up his odds of succeeding. Speaking of odds, Ludger is a risk-taker, and often craves the adrenaline rush of going up against high-stakes challenges, showing a streak of daredevil impulsiveness. With luck seemingly always on his side, Ludger's confidence and ego inflates easily.

Ludger is cunning and manipulative, not just at the tabletop nor battlefield, but also in the playing field of life. He's able to read people and their body language, being able to guess (usually with good accuracy) what their inner wants and desires are, and what they are thinking. Oftentimes, he uses this for his sadistic pleasures, teasing and goading people like the trickster he is, secretly feeding his ego at how effortlessly he is able to play and toy with someone.

Ludger's morals are somewhat loose, for someone who wants to become a professional Huntsman, and his unscrupulous side can be clear in him using any method, legal or otherwise, to achieve results, his mindset being "the ends justify the means". As such, he normally does not gel very well in a team dynamic, becoming the maverick of the group and acting out of turn, with his own mind and strategy.

Semblance: Card Manipulation

Cards are to Ludger what glyphs are to the Schnee family, with the exception that he cannot create cards. He can however infuse cards with Dust and activate them in combat. As a card sharp, he can move cards with his mind, not in the telekinetic sense. For example, he can swap positions of two cards in a deck, making a specific card 'teleport' to the top of the deck, or shuffle cards without touching them. With his Semblance, his card-throwing abilities, such as throwing speed and accuracy, are enhanced. His Semblance also has the potential for him to alter the size and weight of cards, enlarging them to be the size and thickness of a door.

Weapon:

Ludger carries around four decks of cards infused with different types of Dust, with three decks being regular poker cards and one being tarot cards of the Marseilles style.

Well, my thought was that since so many people were joining (and were apparently fans), if I joined it would mean one less spot for someone who deserved it more than me. But now, I'm thinking that with so many fans joining, maybe we need an outsider's perspective! And I've got a few ideas in my head, so I'll make a character, see if I like it.
