The Mourning

I woke up on a Saturday morning, I got dressed and did my morning activities. I walked downstairs to see my parents sitting at the dining table. "Uh, good morning guys. I'm sorry again if I don't have the same views as you." My mother was drinking tea, or maybe coffe, dad simply nodded.

"We can't force you to change your views, and we can't turn you in to the authorities. But please recognize what you are doing to us son, if you decide to seek out the council we will never be allowed to house you legally again." My mother looked down into her cup.

She said in a melancholy tone, "I was hoping you would join Plasma like us, I never thought you would be rebellious. You were always a good kid." She didn't look up, and I never saw her face but I knew she was holding back tears.

I walked up to her and gave her a hug hoping to make her feel better, "I'm still a good kid mom, I promise." I looked dad in the eye "And dad I won't ever ask you to do something like that. I will set off today, I won't ask you to do anything for me."

I turned around to go get packed, but mom grabbed my arm, her eyes were glossy, cloudy with sadness, "I know you won't change your mind, I-I just hope you are safe. Please don't do anything that will get you in trouble." Her grip tightened, "Please!?"

It was my turn to fight tears, his mother was begging me to be safe, I felt like I was abandoning her, "I promise, I will never do anything to hurt anyone." Mother let go and looked down again, she was trembling. "Don't be scared for me mom, I promised." There were no more words from her. The last words I heard from her that day was a plea.

Father reached into his pocket, "Son, I cannot allow you to steal a Pokemon from any member it is dangerous, but if you steal my Herdier I can just request another blaming it on the council, I'm high enough that I can get another without much question." He placed a pokeball on the table, stood up and lifted his wife up and they walked upstairs.

My heart was heavy, how could I accept something like that? I realized that there was no turning back, not that I wanted to. I placed the pokeball in my pocket, I had played with lilpup since it was young, I watched it evolve, but I never thought I'd fight along side him. I ran upstairs packed some clothes and some money enough for food for weeks. I stepped out the door and looked at the house, I sighed. I never saw my house after that day, at least not like it was that day.

I had a map were I predicted where I could find the council, the first place to go was the dessert resort, maybe after a visit to Castelia City.

Kai was wondering how he had gotten himself into such a situation. He wanted to prove that he was stronger than his brother and the stranger that had come to his brother and so he boarded a ship headed for the Unova region. Kai had gathered some information on the organization known as Team Plasma while he was on the ship. He found out about their ideals and what they had done to the Unova region. Kai was concerned that his choice to prove himself as better than his brother by joining Team Plasma may have not been the greatest idea. "Liberating Pokemon sounds like a good plan, but the way they explain it is just so wrong. I don't think I could ever understand such ideals." Kai said as he shook his head while watching the ocean. Kai was traveling via a ship that his brother had recommended to get to Unova. What Kai should have expected, but did not expect was that his brother had set him up for more "training". The ship was a "Battle Ship" where there battles being held all over the deck of the ship. Some people used their own Pokemon and others used some of the ships available rental Pokemon.

There were battles all over the place and because of that Kai had no time to actually think about his idea of joining Team Plasma. "Could I really follow those kind of people?" Kai asked himself as he continued to stare at the ocean. "Being inside my own head is not helping at all...I think I will watch some battles." So Kai decided he would watch the trainers on board battle it out to past the time. Most of the Pokemon he saw where from all different regions that his brother had told him about. There were Pokemon from Kanto, Johoto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova. "There is quite a variety of Pokemon here" Kai said as he continued to walk around the ship's deck. As he was walking around, he noticed a battle between a guy with a Sawk and a girl with a Prinplup.

"Use Karate Chop, Sawk!" Sawk ran across the deck to get up close to the Prinplup, but his Karate Chop was intercepted by Prinplup using bubblebeam and hittign Sawk underneath the chin. Sawk was sent flying, but quickly recovered from the hit. His trainer was about to deliver another command, but the Prinplup was already running at Sawk. "Now Drill Peck!" The Prinplup began spinning and like a spear plowed into Sawk's chest. Sawk attempted to guard, but flew into the railings of the ship. Sawk was no longer able to battle. "I can't believe I lost to a girl!" the trainer shouted. Sawk tried to pick himself up, but then stopped when his trainer's shadow covered him.

"What was with those weak reactions! You're a fighting type! Be better, be stronger!!!!" the trainer continued to yell at his Sawk while the girl trainer ran away along with other trainers in the area. The trainer was becoming very frightening to everyone, everyone but Kai. Kai's eyes and face told a story of disgust as looked at the trainer continued to berate his Pokemon. "How can he be so rude and mean to his own Pokemon? They are equals!!" Then Kai's brain snapped. "Equals? Isn't that what Team Plasma believes Pokemon and humans should be? Are they just trying to stop more trainers like this guy from happening and abusing Pokemon?" Kai suddenly found his knees collapsing on him and he brain going insane. the cognitive dissonance was too much!

Kai soon snapped out of it as he saw the trainer recall his Sawk back to his Pokeball. Kai was relieved and thought the trainer had cooled down, but he was wrong. Kai soon saw the trainer move his arm back as he was going to throw the Pokeball into the ocean. "I don't need a pathetic Sawk like you! I'll go catch a better one!" shouted the trainer as he prepared to throw the ball. Kai immediately dashed over to the trainer and grabbed the ball out of his hand. As the trainer turned his head, Kai kicked him from under the chin and knocked the trainer over the railing. The trainer was barely holding on to the railing of the ship with his one hand.

"Hey what do you think you're doing to me? To my Pokemon?" Kai simply looked down at the trainer as he raised his foot to smash the trainer's hand and said, "I'm liberating him" Kai said coldly as he stomped on the trainer's hand sending him off the ship. The trainer screamed as he was falling into the ocean, but because of his earlier berating no other trainers but Kai was there to hear it. Kai walked back to his room with Sawk's Pokeball and waited for his ship to arrive in Unova.

"I'm going to liberate Pokemon from the chains of human trash." Kai said as he crawled into bed and slept.

I arrived in Castelia City to find that my map was infact wrong, I had to head north then east to the Abundant Shrine. I realized how far of a distance this was and tried to find another way. The large city was disorienting, I could barely make heads nor tails of where I was going.

Eventually though I managed to board a bus heading toward Undella Town, looking at my map I could see that this was the right way. I sat next to a man wearing a hood, looking down, he had stubby facial hair and seemed about my age. The bus was pretty full so he didn't protest to me sitting next to him, but he didn't say anything to me, so I tried to start the conversation, "Hey, I'm Erin" I reached out to shake my hand.

The man just gruffed, "Hello." He wasn't hostile about it but clearly didn't want to talk. I sighed and left him alone.

An hour passed and I was bored out of my mind, I decided to try talking to him again, seeing as he still ahdnt gotten off either. "I'm heading to Undella town, where are you heading?"

The man grumbled, "Undella town" again only annoyed by the question, this time I would carry the conversation.

"That is so awesome, I'm going there to visit some family."

The man sighed, "If your going to lie to me, at least let me start the conversation." I was appalled by his comment, what had made him I had lied then, but he told me, "There's not a holiday around this time that lets college students out, and you clearly can't be much older than a student."

"But sir, I have graduated from college!" I had hoped to try and keep my façade up, "I merely wish to visit my dear mother!"

"Tell me," He looked at me, I could see he was around 30 or 40, "Why had you said family earlier, and then specified only to say mother?"

"I accidentally slipped?" I was nervous, what if he knew and was a Plasma member.

"Now I find it odd that you are heading to Undella town, which is rumored to be near the HQ of those rebels." Than man looked me in the eye and I felt intimidated. "So who are you visiting in Undella? I was born and raised there, I'm sure I know who you are related to."

"My mom uh- Carol" I just thought of a name, I didn't think he knew everyone

"Oh Carol! She was an old friend of mine, quiet a kind woman, though I don't remember her having any children." He became less intense and more jolly.

"I'm adopted..." He pat my back cheerily.

"Well allow me to accompany you lad! I'm sure Carol would be glad to see an old friend escorting her own adopted child!" He laughed, "I knew Carol was always an innocent one, but adoption!"

I had gotten myself tangled up, if he knew a Carol and I went with him, he might have reported me to the authorities. Not only that but I gave him my real name, I had no choice but to go with him. The whole ride was hell for me, I was nervous coming up with escape plans, I had once even thought of jumping out a window, but we arrived in the town and both of us got off.

"Uh sir I didn't catch your name." Maybe if I could convince him to leave I would have been home free.

"My name son? Well my name changes by season, but many just call me Sir. I assume you don't have any qualms about that?"

"Uh no sir."

"No sir Sir, it is my name after all and you applying a title doesn't change it."

"Uh yeah, well I'm not expected for another hour, so I'm going to go on a walk south." He raised an eyebrow.

"Well isn't that odd, I think I shall head with you, wouldn't want you getting hurt before you meet your mother." Again I was trapped and had to comply. "I'll lead the way, I know some great sight seeing areas, but first why don't you take a drink, you have not had anything to drink since the city!" I decided that I would be fine and took a sip of the unopenned water bottle he handed me.

"You know I would never accept drinks from strangers, I never know what they give me." My head began to feel light, "Now tell me son, are you Plasma?" I shook me head no before fading out.

When I had awoken I was sitting tied to a tree at a shrine. "You know son, I thought you were a good kid, maybe trying to join our cause. But then I find this here pokeball, now tell me how does a kid like you get a Pokemon without being a rebel?"

I mumbled, "It was given to me as a gift, I swear I'm here to join the rebellion, I'm not plasma." I couldn't really move, but then again I was pretty tired. "Please give my Herdier back."

"Well seeing as you lied to me the entire train ride I have no reason to trust you, so here is my deal for you, tell me all of the truth, that's who you are, parents, and why I should trust you."

"I'm Erin, and I can't tell you my real parents, but I can tell you that I'm not Plasma, I came here to join the rebellion so I could stop them. I'm sorry I lied sir but I didn't know if you were plasma."

"Son, I don't care who your parents are, but now I have your name and that means it will be easy to find you." He walked up to me with a knife, then cut my ropes. "There is a few tests I'll need to do to make sure you are telling the truth though, we'll start tomorrow, for now here." He tossed me a bed roll and a blanket, "Don't try leaving, unless you want to leap waterfalls, I'll be back tomorrow." With that he left, I decided to sleep instead of escape, seeing as how I was still alive then he must be neutral enough.

Kai woke up seven hours later after what was a surprisingly restful sleep. Kai felt no shame in what he had done to the trainer he stomped off the boat because he felt he had saved his Sawk. While thinking of the Sawk, Kai walked out to the deck and summoned him from his Pokeball. When the Pokemon came out of the Pokeball he looked directly at Kai. Kai was sure that the Pokemon would attack him in a fit if rage because of what he did to his trainer. However, to Kai's surprise, Sawk simply stared at him then got down on one knee and bowed to him. "Is this your way of saying thank you to me?" Kai was shocked because he definitely felt like everything was going wrong. He would never intentionally hurt another trainer or anyone for that matter. Though he felt he should be punished for such an act, instead he was being rewarded with the respect of the Pokemon he had "liberated" and that shocked him so much more. "Did I really do the right thing in such a wrong way?" The Sawk lifted his head and shook no to Kai as if to reassure his new trainer he had made the right choice. Kai looked down and then also dropped down to one knee to try and match Sawk's eye level.
"Hey, there is no need for you to bow your head to me, we are comrades, and we are equals. So rise up from your knees and stand next to me, now and until we liberate more Pokemon from their foul trainers." Sawk let a tear slide out, but quickly wiped it away before rising to his knees. Sawk was truly happy even though he hadn't officially been caught by Kai, his face showed lots of joy. Kai's face showed a mixture of joy and discomfort. "I know what I did to save Sawk was the right thing to do, but could I possibly pull something like that off again? I won't be able to keep stomping trainers of ships or cliffs. But the idea of liberating Pokemon definitely sounds good to me every time I think and talk about it. I may have been wary about joining Team Plasma before, but I definitely want to be in their group even more now." "Is that so?" said a voice in the corner. Kai immediately turned around with a look of fear on his face as Sawk jumped in front of his new trainer and prepared to battle if called upon. Kai saw that it was just a small older woman with a wooden cane, gray hair, star-shaped sunglasses that had purple around them. A cloak covered the rest of her small frame, but Kai still sensed a terrifying aura from her. "So you are thinking about joining Team Plasma, huh kid?" Kai shook his head yes and the lady simply smirked.
"Don't worry I won't turn you in to the police or tell anyone your plan. I just wanted to see what kind of resolve you had. I saw just a small glimpse of it as you stole that Sawk from his trainer. I got chills, sonny boy" the lady started laughing to herself as Kai's face became shrouded in despair. "She knows too much…I can't let her stop me here…not when I have so much to lose and Pokemon to liberate." Kai's eyes turned as cold as they did when he stomped off the trainer. Sawk's aura also chilled with his trainer's aura. "Sawk use Karate Chop on that old lady to knock her out!" Kai said with great force. Sawk charged without a second thought at the old lady. "There goes that resolve that I really love to see." said the old lady as she opened her cloak. Once the cloak opened, a ditto flew out and transformed into Sawk and blocked Karate Chop. Kai's Sawk moves back to him and waits for Kai's command. "You were goading me into attacking you, right?"Kai said as he put his arm in front of Sawk to stop any further battling. Ditto returned to his original form. "Yeah I wanted to see those chilling eyes of yours. You have some nice resolve there." The old lady walked away with her Ditto.
Just as Kai was about to give chase, the ship pulled into the port of Castelia City. There Kai returned Sawk to his Pokeball and then walked on to the pier. As he was walking off the ship, he noticed a strange individual walking towards him. Kai's chilly aura returned, but was suppressed by the man walking towards him. "So are you the guy I should be looking for if I want to join a specific group of people?" Kai said as he waited for the man to respond back to him.

Li was on His usual stroll through the main street of Castelia when his Musharna alerted him of danger aboard an incoming ship. Li, not one to break routine, grumpily walked down the dock. Hopefully, the trouble'd be over by the time he arrived. As the ship docked, Musharna targeted one individual. Apparently, this boy was here to join team plasma, and had freed a Pokemon already. Sadly, he didn't know that it'd have been freed the moment the trainer exited the ship. As this boy walked off, clearing security, even with a Pokeball, Life approached him.

"So are you the guy I should be looking for if I want to join a specific group of people?" the lad said. Li stopped in his tracks and turned around, muttered for the boy to follow, and walked briskly in the direction of the Plasma Base.

I was awoken quiet abruptly by Sir, I saw the sun just rising. "Wow could you pick an earlier time?" I said sarcastically.

"I'm sorry does princess need her beauty sleep?" He taunted kindly.

"Yeah." I groaned, rolling over, "Wake me up when the sun is actually in the sky." He simply snatched my cover off, laughing. I decided to just go with it, the faster I got done with all of this testing the better. "What is the first test?"

He thought about it, "I'll test your skill, if you can beat me in a Pokemon battle, then I will consider letting you in, if you can't beat me then you will be forced out." I shivered, being threatened was not exactly my best idea of a morning wake up. He pulled a pokeball out, moved a good distance back and released the Pokemon within. It was the same Pokemon as mine, a Herdier. "I decided to make this as fair as possible, same Pokemon."

I released my Pokemon, I had never had a battle before, who knew how strong this man was. "Uh, go Herdier!" I released the Pokemon, I tried to remember what moves he knew, I had seen dad train with him before. "Use thunder!" It was the only attack I knew he really learned. It made contact upon his foe, Sir's Pokemon looked a bit hurt but otherwise ignored the attack.

"Taking the initiative to go first eh? I doubt I need to say that your pokemon's thunder is quiet powerful." He laughed, "I guess it is my turn! Herdier use Giga Impact!"

I cringed, that sounded pretty dangerous, I wondered if my Herdier knew it too, "Uh Herdier you do it too!" They charged at each other.

"Not a creative fellow are you? Mirroring my move." The impact sent both Pokemon flying back. My Herdier didn't get up from the attack though, I had lost. "Wow you suck, I didn't get much of a fight at all. I have a question was this your first fight?"

"Yea, I was given this Pokemon. By my parents."

"That makes sense, tell me do they know that you are joining the rebels? I don't hear a lot of high ranking plasma children joining our ranks."

"How did you know?"

"We don't have the money to give Hms to our Pokemon, that and we have no reported missing Pokemon." He sighed, "I suppose we will accept you, though don't expect much freedom, we will have someone assigned to watch you at all times."

"Really who is it?"

"I don't know! If I had to guess it would be Ina, she tends to have a lot of free time. The entire town is full of rebels, so feel free to get to know them, though not everyone is so try not to be completely obvious. I'll send word to the higher ups and Ina." He went off and tossed me a rope, "Good luck getting down that waterfall by the way, it is your second test or something." I sighed, and put Herdier in his ball. I picked up the rope and listened for running water.

Kai's aura was immediately shut down by the presence by this mysterious guy. Kai didn't know what to expect from this man. The man came towards him, but then turned around. The man muttered a little and then signaled Kai to follow behind him. Kai didn't resist and simply followed the man.

As they walked, Kai noticed the man's pink flying pokemon. "I've never seen that Pokemon before. I would ask the man about it, but he hasn't really given me much to go on. His aura is so dark and lonely." Kai's brained was rattled with questions and thoughts, until he got an idea.

He let Sawk out of his Pokeball and then left the man's side. "I'm going to head out with Sawk to go do some training. You're not a man of many words and I love talking. When you feel like talking come find me." Kai and Sawk wander off into a vacant area. "The only move that I know you have is Karate Chop, but if we are going to be out here battling, I need to see your other moves." Sawk tightened his belt and nodded at Kai. He then found a big rock. He tightened his belt again. Just like that Sawk's muscles increased in size and he suddenly started smashing the rock over and over again with his fist. He then followed up by punching it with a glowing fist. With this series of attacks all of the rock was turned to dust.

Kai was amazed by the power of his Sawk. "So you know Karate Chop, Bulk up, Close Combat, and Drain Punch. Quite a lot of fighting moves, but I guess that should be expected of a fighting type, but that's definitely disadvantageous against foes immune to fighting type attacks." Kai scratched his head and focused on thinking of ways to improve his Sawk. As he waited, the mysterious man returned and wanted Kai to follow him again. "I guess so..." Kai returned Sawk to his Pokeball and returned to walking with the man again.

Li was walking to the Plasma base when the boy said something about training. Li continued walking, telling Musharna to keep a mental lock on him. He took the next street, and walked to the boy's location. He stopped next to where he had decided to have his Pokemon disintegrate a rock, and glared at him.

"If you are to walk away like that again, I will not come and get you. When I say follow, you should do so. We shall talk when we arrive at our location. Now follow." Li said sternly. He turned, and continued on to the base. Soon, they stood in front of a tall skyscraper, directly across from the closed down gym. They entered, and Li flashed a badge to the secretary. She pressed a button under the desk, and the elevator opened.

The two walked into the elevator, and the doors shut. The elevator then began descending. Once they reached the underground area, Li led the boy to an empty metal room, which had nothing but two chairs in it. Li sat in one, and gestured for the boy to sit in the other.

"If you want to join team Plasma, we need to go through a few questions. First, I need your Pokemon. He will be given to a good trainer." Li said, holding out his hand.

Seth sat in a cave, deep in the old Victory Road, which had fallen out of use and was now nearly abandoned, the only beings left being a few runaways and Pokemon. He had recently caught wind of this new Council group, which was obtained of course, the same way he obtained his food- illegally. He would send out his Scraggy into Route 9 with money, and he would receive a piece of paper with a note scrawled on it. The hooligans there knew everything, all the rumors and such- and Seth didn't want to know how. He had helped them get back their Pokemon multiple times, so they were extremely grateful to do anything, and this kind of thing was their specialty. Besides, they were rewarded with money anyway.

Seth had received his Scraggy one day with a letter detailing all the information they knew about the Council. Rumor was that they hung out somewhere near Black City called the Abundant Shrine. Seth had no idea what or where this was, but was thinking of heading out near Black City to find this place. He knew the fastest way there was probably by bus, but he could be caught with Scraggy. Instead, he opted for walking, but taking a shortcut he knew which would quickly get him back to Lacunosa Town, and after that, it would be smooth sailing until Route 14.

"Ahhhhh, Lacunosa, the place where the best part of my life began..." Seth muttered sarcastically as he lay with his back against the cold stone wall, coming up with multiple plans. Each one involved avoiding the Village Bridge, which had recently become a tourist destination and was bound to be flooded with Plasma grunts, patrolling the scene. Seth knew, once again, that this meant danger for him and Scraggy, so he decided he had to avoid it at all costs. In fact, Seth decided to go via an old, rickety bridge that was not in use anymore. As a child, he and his friends would dare each other to cross the swaying bridge or fall into the water below. It wasn't a strong current, but it was amazingly deep despite its seemingly shallow appearance. Seth knew the area well, however, so it wouldn't be much of a hassle. The problem was that he didn't want to get confused with the Giant Chasm nearby, which would prove disastrous, as lore had always said. Even though the disaster that legends spoke of was probably just that, legends, he wasn't so sure now that the original dragon of which these legends also spoke of was now busy patrolling the skies of Unova.

Suddenly, a flashlight shone through the cave. "I heard it from over here..." said the voice that echoed through the walls of the tunnel.

"Surely it couldn't be that legendary Pokemon that resided here..."
"If it is, Lord N would be very pleased. Finding such a Pokemon could add to our arsenal."
"Yes, and it could help with the Council... that's what they're calling it now, right?"
"Uh-huh. Which, did you hear? They say it may become more of a threat."
"Screw them. We have a legendary Poke- HEY! WHO'S THERE?!"

Seth had been caught. Scraggy was, luckily, safe in his PokeBall, deep in Seth's backpack. The grunts shone their flashlight straight into Seth's eyes. He shielded his eyes, and the grunts began to throw questions at him.

"Who are you?"
"Why are you here?"
"Don't you know that you should be in a main route or a city? It's past the established curfew!"
"Answer me, punk!"

"Ack. I'm, my name is Tim, and I was hanging out with my friends, and, uh, we came here, and they ditched me. Sorry, I didn't know it was past curfew already, and I was being an idiot." Seth spoke normally to make his extended lie more convincing, and played the victim to be on the safe side. Luckily, the grunts believed him.

"Alright, fine. We all have our stupid moments in our teenage years." One of the grunts handed him some food and drink. "Go home, and make sure this never happens again." Seth nodded, and began walking out of the cave. But then, as he shifted his backpack a little, he heard a "click." Suddenly, something grew in Seth's backpack and began making cries. It was Scraggy.

The grunts quickly noticed this. "Catch him!" they yelled.

"Damn it!" said Seth. He quickly opened the backpack a little to give Scraggy air, and then began to run as fast as he could towards the deep woods ahead that would take him to the old bridge.

Once the man reappeared by his side, Kai noticed that the man didn't seem happy with Kai's decision to immediately leave him. The man was glaring at him and said,

"If you are to walk away like that again, I will not come and get you. When I say follow, you should do so. We shall talk when we arrive at our location. Now follow." Kai was not shaken, because he had the tendency to annoy people on the island when he moved at his own pace. So he followed the man who had turned, and continued on to the base. Soon, they stood in front of a tall skyscraper, directly across from the closed down gym. They entered, and the man flashed a badge to the secretary. She pressed a button under the desk, and the elevator opened.

The two walked into the elevator, and the doors shut. The elevator then began descending. Once they reached the underground area, Kai was led to an empty metal room, which had nothing but two chairs in it. The man sat in one, and gestured for Kai to sit in the other.

"If you want to join team Plasma, we need to go through a few questions. First, I need your Pokemon. He will be given to a good trainer." The man said, holding out his hand.

Kai looked at the man with his own glare. "I liberated and bonded with this Sawk, what makes you think I'm not a good enough trainer for this Pokemon? I don't plan to fight you here, but I won't let your strength shake the resolve I built when I liberated this Sawk from that disgusting trainer." Kai rose from the chair and as he did Sawk came out of his Pokeball and tightened his belt in agreement with Kai. The duo stood their ground as they waited for the mysterious man to respond to their resolve.

Kai smiled. This was exactly the type of trainer that Plasma needed. However, he couldn't be having a boy running around with a powerful Pokémon. He summoned Musharna, and whistled. Musharna released a powerful Psyshock attack, aimed directly at the trainer's Sawk.

"As you can most likely deduce, there isn't a question about it. You will give us your Pokémon." Kai said, standing up. He held his hand out once again.

"Now I suggest that you give me that Pokéball, before something tragic is to happen"

After seeing Kai stand up, the man showed a slight smirk as if he wanted to hear Kai fight against him. Kai understood he had made the right choice. However, that all changed when Kai's Sawk was attacked by the man's Pokemon with a powerful psychic attack. After watching Sawk fall to the ground in pain from just one attack, Kai immediately turned to the man.

"As you can most likely deduce, there isn't a question about it. You will give us your Pokémon." The mysterious man said, standing up. He held his hand out once again.

"Now I suggest that you give me that Pokéball, before something tragic is to happen" Kai once again looked at Sawk who was struggling to get back up. Kai walked over to Sawk. "Hey don't go pushing yourself this far for me, buddy. Let's just think of this as a separated journey. Right now I'm new and don't want to step on any toes or have you hurt any worst. So even though it's going to be hard...I'm going to give him your pokeball." Sawk was shocked and started to cry, then pleaded with Kai not to let him go. "Hey buddy, this isn't the last we will see of each other, I promise you this, I will rise up in the ranks here and become even more worthy to be your trainer. I'll definitely bring you back to my side!" Kai exclaimed with his fist raised high.

Sawk wiped his tears away again and believed in the words of his trainer. He hugged Kai one last time before he collapsed from the power of the attack. Kai returned Sawk to his Pokeball and gave it over the mysterious man. "I hope you heard my speech, because every last word of it was true. I will find a way to get stronger and get my Sawk back. In the words of my idol fool, Believe it!" Kai gives the man the Pokeball and sits down in his chair.

"So before we make anymore exchanges here, why don't you tell me your name and what's this Team Plasma business is all about?"

Li nodded as he was given the Pokéball. He retrieved the Sawk, and typed a password into a panel on the wall. A hole opened up, just the right size for a Pokéball, and Li put it in. Once there, it would be whisked away to the mainframe, cataloged, and shiped to the armory.

"That information is sadly classified. Now, onto the first order of buisness. Why do you wish to join the Force, and become one of Team Plasma?" Kai said. He returned Musharna, placing her Pokéball back into its usual place just inside of his jacket. He adjusted his seat, leaning forward.

After handing the man the pokeball, he nodded as he was given the Pokéball. He retrieved the Sawk, and typed a password into a panel on the wall. A hole opened up, just the right size for a Pokéball, and the man put it in. Once there it disappeared out of their sight. Kai was still waiting on the man's response to his question.

"That information is sadly classified." said the man. Kai facepalmed, but then regained his composure. "the fact that you can't share your name with me must mean you're pretty high up on the ladder of this organization. So if I keep climbing will I get to know?" Kai asked with a smug smile before leaning back into his chair. "Now, onto the first order of buisness. Why do you wish to join the Force, and become one of Team Plasma?" The mysterious man asked. He then returned his pink Pokemon, placing her Pokéball back into its usual place just inside of his jacket. He then adjusted his seat, leaning forward.

"To be honest with you, I came here to prove a point to a man that had come to my brother looking for help. My brother refused the offer because he didn't want to be part of any rebellions or wars. That's just not in his job description. So I told the man he could borrow and use my strength and I'd help him. He then proceeded to laugh at me. It's like he was trying to say I wasn't up for the challenge. So I decided I'd prove him wrong and show him how strong I am. That's when I remember he talked about a Team Plasma and wanting to stop them with my brother's help. With that I decided to become a member of whatever Team Plasma was and show that guy he made a wrong decision. However, once on the ship I read up more about who Team Plasma are and what they do. When I realized what I was signing up for, I got cold feet for the first time. I thought about running away from it all and just returning home. Then I met that Sawk and his trainer...and then I liberated that Sawk from his trainer. It felt good, it was justice at its finest. That's when I made my decision to join Team Plasma a solid one. The reason I want to join team plasma is not to show my strength or my power to that man, but to free Pokemon from the shackles of disgusting trainers as I did for Sawk. I want to liberate them, I want to save them, the Pokemon."

If looks could kill, Seth's eyes could have saved him a lot of trouble. Instead, he was running in deep woods which wary travelers usually avoid, with Plasma grunts trying to catch him harboring a Pokemon. Scraggy was busting out lots of Sludge Bombs onto the floor, making a slippery surface. Scraggy had learned Sludge Bomb from a TM which Seth's father used to own, and Seth secretly thanked his father when one of the grunts slipped and fell into a puddle of sludge, but he still knew that the other was hot on his trail.

"Sludge Bomb him, Scraggy!"

This grunt was very fast, however, and quickly dodged the supposedly unsanitary sludge talked about in the description of the TM. Seth recognized Scraggy was getting tired, so he gave him a berry and kept running, calling off the attack on the grunt in their flight. Out of the corner of his eye, Seth saw the old, swaying bridge that he had to cross. If it weren't for the fact that the grunt also had a Pokemon, Seth might have been able to make it across safely. But as a Roggenrola quickly swept him off his feet, Seth knew he was in serious trouble.

"Let's do this, Roggenrola! Keep using Rollout on his legs!"

As Seth struggled to his feet, he motioned to Scraggy, muttering, "you know what to do." Scraggy pounced, put his arms out, and caught the strange rock Pokemon. "Now, Brick Break!" Seth yelled as he stood up, holding a tree branch. As the Roggenrola was hit with the side of Scraggy's hand, the Plasma grunt winced. Not for the Roggenrola's safety, but for his job's. Seth noticed this, and was quickly disgusted.

"Roggenrola, use Rock Blast!"

As rocks were launched one after another, Scraggy was having difficulty avoiding them. Suddenly, Seth noticed something. No, he thought, it can't be! As the bridge was narrowly missed by the last rock in the consecutive attacks, it became certain. His plan was to destroy the escape route, and after he whispered into a communication device, Seth was dead certain that if he didn't cross now or defeated the Roggenrola, he would lose his only escape route.

"Now Scraggy! Use the move!"

As a sphere began to form, Scraggy focused carefully. The grunt began to take notice. "Roggenrola, use Rock Blast again! On the bridge!"

"Now Scraggy! Focus Blast!"

As the ball of light hit the rock Pokemon, Seth ran near the bridge. As the dust from the impact of the attack settled, the Roggenrola was KO'd. Seth grabbed his Pokemon and ran. But the grunt wasn't giving up yet. When Seth was at the middle of the bridge, the grunt ran towards Seth. "KID! YOUR GONNA BE IN GOING TO BE IN TROUBLE WHEN WE CATCH YOU!" he said, aggravated.

"Scraggy! Brick Break on the bridge!"

As Seth and his Pokemon dived for the other side, the Brick Break destroyed the bridge, and the grunt was sent sprawling below. Seth and his Scraggy looked down as the grunt fell into the river. "How pathetic. C'mon, Scraggy, we have better things to do." Seth walked away, and returned his Pokemon to its Pokeball, and put it into his pocket.

The grunt lived, however. As he poked his head over the rushing river, he thought about how he looked so much like the new guy who had recently had been promoted to Pokemon Specialist of Team Plasma.

Li nodded. He was correct about this kid having the proper mindset to go far.

"Interesting... You are correct about the Council. They pick their targets, and don't think that anyone else is strong enough. You cannot possibly comprehend the amount of complaints we get about them. We have yet to find them, however, and that is where you come in. We will equip you with a Pokémon, and you will be sent out searching for them.

"Now, good deeds are rewarded with ranks, but lack thereof removes them. Get enough ranks, and you can achieve higher status and stronger Pokémon. Do you accept the task ahead of you? Think hard, for once you accept, the only way out is death." Li said. He sat back, waiting for the boy to think over his answer.

Lacunosa Town was unsuccessfully avoided.

After Seth passed through the old bridge, he had to go through Lacunosa. As he walked, he was scared. Plasma was crawling everywhere, and his Pokeball was safely disguised as some kind of pendant resembling the Light Stone. He kept walking. Throughout the town, it was slowly but surely being turned into a Plasma hub. Many posters were put up on walls everywhere, promoting Plasma way too much. As he passed through one street, he shuddered. This had been his street. His home was being made into a Plasma Pokemon Specialist Building. His town was being defaced to look like Plasma owned the place.

Wait. Turn around. Walk a few steps. Stop. Turn about 90 degrees to your right- and there it was. A Plasma Pokemon Specialist Building. Where his home once was. Seth wanted to open that door. TO see his father's warm, caring face. But he knew that wouldn't happen. The most eventful thing to happen in his family since he lost Mom. He looked through the window. Maybe he could request a private audience with his father? If he was the new Pokemon Specialist-

Nononononono! That's not what he had said! They were enemies now! Enemies! The handle could not be touched! Ever! He said it himself!

He touched the handle.

NOOOO! His mind yelled at him, told him to stop, to stop now.

He twisted the handle very slowly.

Don't do it! DON'T DO IT, MAN! IT'S NOT WORTH IT!

The door was gradually opened as the cool air became stuffy and warm instead.

His mind told him to leave, say it was the wrong building. All he had to do was say it was the wrong building, that he meant to go to the store instead, apologize.

He walked up to the receptionist. He opened his mouth to speak, but then he heard a "Bing!" from the elevator nearby. He said sorry, and nervously began to walk away.

"Seth, is that..."

Seth bolted out of the door and ran all the way to the other side of town. Getting himself a bite to eat, he then headed out South, towards Undella. The route, the all too familiar route with its bridges, its cliffs, and its sand, seemed strange now. Devoid of trainers, fishermen, and the sort, the entire route seemed empty. Lonely. Seth waded out into the Undella Bay, and tried his best not to get his shorts wet. He looked about. No boats, no lights, nothing. What had Plasma done to this world? He walked back onto the route, watching as the sunset came. He continued, and he felt sad. Usually, this place was rife with talk this hour with the fishermen talking about their big catch (or their big failure), ladies talking about their sexy tan, and just people strolling about, talking, the occasional couple enjoying the sunset. But there was none of that. Just Seth, the sunset, and a Scraggy.

When they began to approach Undella town, Seth returned Scraggy to his PokeBall and subsequently walked into the once bustling city. It was now quiet, with people returning home before the established curfew, and the occasional person here and fro. Before, you would see people on lawn chairs on the beach, and people swimming. Now, it was as desolate as the previous route. As Seth continued through the town, he hoped that he would get some clue as to where to go to get an audience with the council...

I tied the rope to a tree looming over the cliff, "I must be some kind of fool." I said aloud. "And what is with that old man making me climb down this cliff!? How does he get down?" I was enraged, there had to be another way down but I continued lowering myself down, rope tied around my waist. "Well at least I have a rope that isn't string."

With all of the grumbling I did, I almost forgot that I was to meet some sort of mentor, "Ina is such an odd name, I wonder if she is from this region." My foot slipped, making my stomach lurch, "Gah, if I didn't know any better I would think this would be a death sentence!" I tried to relax, my anger was making me swing about. When I finally reached the ground I wondered what to do next. The man had said to socialize, or at least that was what I thought.

I walked into town my clothes were dirty and my pride was a bit tarnished, though I felt like I had overcame my first obstacle. I walked forward, hoping to talk to someone less odd. I did notice a boy making his way out of the water nearby. I watched in confusion as to what he might be doing in there, but I set aside that petty question. Maybe he was a rebel. "Hey! What were you doing in the water?"

Kai looked at man and smiled, "I'm more than ready to join this team and keep ranking up! I told Sawk we would meet again and I won't stop till we are reunited." Kai clenches his fist. "Can I get a mask and uniform though? I don't want to endanger my brother if the council recognize my face. I think it would work with my chilly new aura I've acquired." Kai felt that the man wouldn't really listen to his request but there was no harm in asking. The man seemed like he could get the goods, but Kai waited for him to response.
