The last time I beat Silver, I had a team of Typhlosion, Umbreon, Golduck, Tauros, Magneton and Victreebel
The last time I went through Blue, I had a team of Venusaur, Alakazam, Pidgeot, Starmie, Jolteon and Butterfree

I think my last Yellow team was something along the lines of;

This line up on my silver version is currently gone due to my battery dying. But I will tell you one thing, it never lost. :D

Edit: Since my "new" second generation games no longer have a battery I will restart my Red Version (Had 151 :( ) and create the ultimate First generation line up which will consist of the following.

Mew - Level 100
Mewtwo - Level 100
Dragonite - Level 100
The three legendary birds - Level 100

That basically is the best line up in the older games. A line up with Arcanine, Syther, Blastoise, Charizard, or Venasaur may be able to match it but only in the hands of a truely experienced player.

Thats off the top off my head. I used to use Ampharos, Raikou, Dragonite, a different Tyranitar, Mewtwo and Lugia. I used this team to compete in Pokemon Stadium 2 gyms/cups.

For RBY and Pokemon Stadium, I used Mewtwo, Moltres, Zapdos, Dragonite, Lapras and Electrode.

I like a balanced team (mostly the twelve over six ratio):

Team 1:
Moltress (Fire/Flying) Magneton (Electric/Steel)
Venomoth (Bug/Poison) Exeggutor (Grass/Pychic)
Lapras (Ice/Water) Rhydon (Ground/Rock)

Team 2:
Sneasel (Dark/Ice) Gengar (Ghost/Poison)
Golem (Rock/Ground) Celebi (Psychic/Grass)
Ho-oh (Fire/Flying) Lanturn (Water/Electric)

On Red version my party would be

Vaporeon: Surf and it it's hp is hecka high
Sandslash
Zapdos
Vileplume
Arcanine
Mew
