Ok, i started now, named self Misntrp (damn 7 characters, and yes, i intended to call my self misanthrope), chose Cyndaquil, beat rival and finally caught my first two Pokemon and gave them retarded nicknames. Caterpie is going to evolve soon and Hoppip just refuses to learn any damaging move like Tackle.

btw i'm playing Crystal, i'm just using Gold sprites because the animation is pretty annoying and most Gold sprites look pretty similar to Crystal sprites.

Leveled Hoppip and Caterpie till Hoppip learned Tackle, went to Violet, caught a Zubat on the way, did the Bellsprout tower and attempted and lost to Falkner with Lv. 10/11 Pokemon. Did some more training, and finally beat Falkner, hail to the Zubat. Got Egg and Miracle Seed, saved.

Small Update:
I just blacked out against the Hiker between Union cave and Azalea, stupid Rock Throw... I'm already afraid of Miltank's Rollout...

... but Bugsy was easy, Hoppip poisoned Metapod and then i just had to wait, Butterfree OHKOd Kakuna and beat Scyther on a tough battle. All are Lv. 16 now, Butterfree is 17.

I JUST realized all my pokemon evolve at level 18.And I was choosing randomly.How can that happen?

Ah,no I don't really care.I can catch up to were I was in a few minutes.

I just beat Pryce, i was a bit lucky that Dewgong slept really long and Piloswine's Blizzard always missed (always means 1 or 2 times...)

The HP really sucks, it has a bad typing and a lot less power than even gust... but Butterfree is still a nice pokemon, i'm just having some bad luck

There was a time when Golbat died pretty fast, so i think it doesnt really like me->no Crobat yet...

Beat Chuck, Jasmine and Finished Radio Tower now. The Jasmine battle took enternally, but thanks to Leech Seed, i won...

Golbat evolved somewhere during the Radio Tower quest, in Level 37...

I just ran into TWO JYNX in Ice Path (i think they were even in a row), after i had been looking for hours for one in my mono ice. Sadly, i killed them both

Clair was easy. Sleep Powder + Leech Seed + Psybeam killed the first 2 Dragonairs, but both Butterfree and Jumpluff got hit by a Thunderwave and the last Dragonair 2HKOd Jumpluff with Ice Beam. Crobat revenge killed Dragonair and even swept Kingdra without problems.

Elite 4 Time!
About the first four, i just say they were easy, Lance took quite a while but i only needed 2 revives (both against aerodactyl) so he wasnt that hard after all...

UPDATE: Beat Red. Pikachu and Charizard was piece of Cake for Jumpluff, Charizard didnt like Crobat's Wing Attacks. Espeon killed dCrobat because i forgot to switch, but Jumpluff beat it with ease. Even Snorlax was surprisingly easy, it didnt use Rest one single time... Venusaur got pwned by Butterfree's Psychics, only Blastiose gave some trouble and KOd everything with Blizzard, but when a sleep powder finally hit, Jumpluff took it out with ease. So the hardest part was probably getting to Red without Flash, it took me sooo long

Well,my computer wasn't working and that was SUCH a pain.I think it took a week for it to work again.I decided to also sort some of my progress in a chart.(I'm a noob.)

Hm, should I go through the trouble of finishing my half-completed Crystal game to start this one, or just delete the Crystal game I have so far? o.o;

Also, would Totodile, Gastly and Sentret count as being common enough? o.o

Well, after lots of hard work and sacrifice, I've finished this challenge. Sorry about not posting any updates, the game moved so fast that I couldn't really do any.

I beat Red with the following (underleveled) team:

Inflator / Wigglytuff (Level 62)
@ Leftovers

~Fire Punch
~Ice Punch
~Body Slam
~Sing
Inflator was a beast from the start, with awesome type coverage and HP.

Veleno / Arbok (Level 60)
@ Focus Band

~Return
~Sludge Bomb
~Earthquake
~Bite
Veleno, another Pokemon with great coverage, really stood out for his high speed on this team.

Battery / Ampharos (Level 62)
@ Magnet

~Thunder Punch
~Headbutt
~Thunder
~Thunder Wave
Battery may not look as useful as the other two members, but electric is always a great type to have, and he had high stats.

Almost forgot about my awesome HM slaves!

Started, chose Chikorita, lost to rival, caught a Pidgey, named it FlySlave, because the 10 characters are not enough for something like FlyingSlave. Deposited Chikorita and grinded FlySlave to level 7 or 8. Caught a Geodude, named it OhDude. Went to Violet, caught a Bellsprout on the way, which i named Anorexius (i wanted to name it anorexia because that's what it suffers from, but it's male...) Did Sprout Tower and beat Falkner. Obtained and deposited the Togepi egg.

Team: (yes, i like RB sprites)

FlySlave / Pidgey Lv.15 f @ /
- Tackle
- Mud Slap
- Gust
- Quick Attack
Pidgey dominated in this first part of the game, since with all the exp from sprout tower, it could even beat Falkner without Geodude's help. Mud Slap on this thing and not on Geodude because Geodude will learn Magnitude soon anyway and the Acc Loss is always a nice thing.
