Chapter 1: Lying In Ruins
Spoiler:
Location: Outside of the Solaceon Ruins, Sinnoh Region
Time: 3:20 P.M
Pitter-Patter, Pitter-Patter, Pitter-Patter...That's the sound the rain makes as it hits the ground. A soothing sound, I wonder how long it will be before the rain stops and the bright rays of the sun return to light the skies. Sigh...darkness is so depressing, but the sun is just...not for me. The happiness it generates battles with the sadness I feel everyday. I would much rather sit inside with the blinds closed, and be completely engulfed in darkness, than pretend to be happy. Sigh. "How much longer?" I asked. That is when I recieved the call, from Cyrus.
"TG, Zero-Thirteen, advance towards the ruins and inform the other squads of anything unusual you discover there, the other squads will move in on their targets and do the same. Cyrus Out."
Bzz, shoosk. That's the sound the headset makes. It's a ear-piercing sound that could drive someone crazy in the case of prolonged exposure.
"Finally, It's been three hours." Carla and I stood up and continued to walk towards the ruins with haste in our steps, we'd finally reached the entrance of the ruins, all we could see was darkness. "Let's go," Carla said. Carla, my partner, the only Team Galactic Grunt that stands out. Most Team Galactic Grunts wear tight gray clothing, have short blue hair, and proudly present the Galactic symbol on their suits. Not Carla, her straight hair hangs down to her lower back. She dresses in a tight black shirt and taut black shorts; black leather gloves and boots cover most of her arms and legs. I never really noticed, but she only seems to wear black clothing...Wierd.
We moved on until Carla stretched her hand out in front of me and lit a torch, "We'll need to see, won't we?" I nodded and we kept walking. I tend to be very quiet, so does Carla, that's probably why Cyrus paired us together, hoping that we'll work better with people like ourselves. Is that really true?
Woosh. A gust of wind threw me and Carla against the wall and extinguished our torch. "Uh, my back. What was that?" I said with a painful groan. I waited for Carla to respond, but heard nothing. I looked around, and to my left there was a flight of stairs leading into a dark room, I could barely make out Carla's silouhette at the bottom of the stairs-but she was standing. "Are you alright!?" I asked as I quickly ran down the stairs. "I'm Fine, but look." She pointed to a wall with wierd carvings in it, they appeared to be letters but I couldn't make them out. "What is that?" I asked. Carla shrugged her shoulders and moved forward. "Wait," I said. She stopped, "Let me find our headsets". I used my hands to feel around the floor until i felt the small piece of metal connected to an arc by a flexible wire. I picked it up and set it on my head. "Where is yours?" I asked Carla, she pointed to a shattered piece of metal on the ground lying next to a torn headset. "Oh," I said, it must have broken during her fall.
Carla continued to approach the wall, and then I heard a 'click', it was a pressure plate underneath my feet. "Carla!" I shouted, then, I saw what appeared to be a portal, it opened up and Carla was sucked into the portal. I took my foot off of the pressure plate and leaped into the portal after her.
Where am I? I wondered. Just a second ago I was in the ruins, now I'm in the remains of some ancient civilization that I've never seen before. I wandered around in search of Carla, I found her lying on the center of a triangular platform in the middle of the room. I rushed over to her and quickly felt her wrist to see if she had a pulse...positive. "Thank God." I whispered. I tried to contact one of the other groups on my headset, but it was useless, I had no signal. I even tried to wake Carla up, but nothing was working.
I wandered around the room to try to get a better understanding of where we were, but found nothing. Nothing until I moved to a pillar in the center of the room, there I found two shattered pieces of a stone tablet resting at the foot of the pillar. I connected the stone tablets, and then brushed off the debris with my palm. "Sinjoh" I read aloud. Sinjoh, that almost sounds familiar...what could it be?
