Oh, Bay. There's a difference between reading something for pure lulz over the fact that it's just so stupid it's hilarious and reading something for pure lulz over the fact that it's just so stupid it's painful.

Here's what I don't get. He says he hates canon. He's given the comment, "Hey, I've got an idea? Why don't you write original fiction, where you can pull everything out your ass (within reason) because you don't like your creativity to be limited?" And he replies with, "But I like writing Pokémon fanfiction! :(" Well, no, clearly, you don't, oh SPPfer... because if you did, you'd actually write Pokémon fanfiction and not feel like you want to violate canon because it restricts your creativity. (I mean, seriously. Canon makes a fandom. Why would you violate it if you want to actually write in a fandom? That's like suddenly saying you didn't like the way Jesus was portrayed in the Bible, so you're making him a gangster instead. In fact, given the literal meaning of the word "canon," that's pretty much exactly like what you're doing right there. I mean, really. It's not fanfiction, after all. It's fanfiction. You've got to respect canon on a level or else you've seriously missed the point of the term "fanfiction" itself.)

But I am heavily, heavily amused by the fact that a rant I wrote ended up on SPPf and is currently causing an argument. Whichever one of you is Orange, I love you, and let's go and get wasted on vodka cocktails.

TBH... I don't really get what he's trying to explain there, really. =/ But eh, canon debates occur all the time in the fanfiction world. Ah, I recall the last one I was in...

How much have you improved since your first Pokémon fanfic? In which ways did you improve the most? Do you still retain some of your early weaknesses?
I'm still on my first fic, actually. I can say I've improved though, certainly. I had rather... 'meh' description, or rather a strong lack of it to begin with, from memory, and I've certainly learnt a lot about writing ever since beginning my fic. I probably do still have some evidence of weaknesses (again, description could be better, I suppose =/), and I make typos still all too often, but at the very least, I know how to use commas in dialogue now! Darn school for not teaching it to me properly. >_<

Do you like crossovers? What is it about crossovers that you like/dislike? What fandoms were in your favourite?

As others have said - I like them if they are funny/cracky (but not too cracky, I suppose... maybe), or they work well and are well thought-out and all - fics with two fandoms mushed together without any effort are... bleh.

It's both painful and hilarious to me. Painful because here we go with people trying to say canon doesn't matter in the end and hilarious that Diddy had to reference Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. Yeah, I don't get what he's trying to achieve there.

Diddy...he's a good friend of mine and has helped me with my fics, but sometimes I get annoyed on his ophinions of writing, like his dislike of canon and also that simple sentences in stories=bad writing style.

Yeah... All I'm going to say is that it involved (as the author had put it) a "special" Machamp, and Dawn... It's funny though out of the two more popular pokemon forums, I chose here (and not PC). I think it came down to a matter of organization I guess... Not sure.

Neither did I. I read his explanation and I think he meant it like, "The Civil Rights movement didn't like white people's attitudes so they fought the good fight. That's what I'm doing. I hate canon, so I'm fighting it with analogies that don't make sense and something about creative liberty and justice for all. God bless America! *waves flag*"

I think it's funny (besides the Civil Rights analogy) because I think he stopped after he read your examples and completely ignored the following paragraph that started with, "Point is, all too often, I see the "canon is a safety net" argument and the "canon restricts my creativity" one, but it's really not supposed to be like that unless you're not entirely confident in your use of canon" because his major argument was "canon restricts my creativity."

I'd say how tall I am in feet and inches, but here in Australia we're too cool for that, so I'll just say 181cm. -_-

Hell, we don't use feet and inches across the ditch here, either. It's just the most universally recognised method of getting the point across. I don't even know how tall 181cm is!

Yeah, even in my fic, I sacrificed metric (people can recognise "-ise" as "-ize", but if they're as useless as I am at conversions, "50cm" means nothing to most people). :P
