I started detesting legendaries because they increase in number everytime a new generation comes out, also why are they like Gods?
For example imagine yourself catching Dialga, you'll think that you just caught the God of time! But can you actually control time now? No.
I wouldn't mind controlling time myself though, if that was available in X & Y ;).

But seriously, enough legendaries.

But guys! There is an advantage - it'd mean the first time where one is dragon and the other isn't, which could make for an interesting trio, really. Buuut now I kinda doubt it's true, so :( Still it'd be interestingggg.
If you're talking about the duo than that's true however if the trio than a whole...well Rayquaza says hi.

If it is Dark/Dragon I imagine Xerneas to be Psychic/Steel to provide some sort of counter as if Xerneas were to be Grass/Psychic it'll be very one sided, even more than Groudon versus Kyogre.

I'm pretty sure this CoroCoro scan is also fake, 'cause on the side it says "Pokémon" in English letters rather than "ポケットモンスターX・ポケットモンスターY".
Not completely true. I can't recall if they do this in every issue, but in last month's scans with Xerneas and Yveletal, "Pokémon" in English was printed on the side of each page. See here: Link

I still don't mind the idea of Yveltal being Dark/Flying while Xerneas turns out Psychic/Steel.

Yeah I mean the duo itself, which is something brand new! If that's the case it could mean that Yveltal could in fact be the third legendary and the second one is revealed later which'd be shocking imo.

Yeah, that's not going to happen.

And we still don't know if Xerneas is part Dragon (that'll be a true shocker!).

The X-Deer being Psychic / Steel would explain his rigid, sharp body and explain the Psychedelic colors on his antlers.

I Think if Y is Dark, and X is Psychic, Z would be Ghost to complete the "Spooky Triangle"

Although, Bug is super-effective against dark and psychic... just saying.

A third legendary being bug? Hmm kind of doubting the psychic for Xerneas now given that it'd make bug more likely as you said and idt it'd be the best typing for a third legendary.

I'm kinda torn right now which version to pre-order....

If Xerneas would really be psychic/steel, I think I know which direction to take.

But it'll be really awesome if you fly around towns riding on Yveltal. :)

My misread of your post made me wonder (and the contents of another thread). Basically, it's likely that Xerneas is physical and Yveltal is special - but what if they were switched? Would this make any sense? Maybe they specialise in both physical and special moves defenses given they are likely to be guardians??

Well if Xerneas is Psychic/Steel it shouldn't be as concerned, same goes for Yvetal as it has flying type which is strong against bugs. Though if the third one were to be bug...it could be Bug/Dragon if based on a serpent...a serpentine insect oh the horror!

I never thought any Pokemon would have a cooler design than my precious Lugia, but Yveltal sure is a damn fine piece of ass.

I... think if that were to happen it'd be creepy looking. :( Like while I'm okay with bug mons, when you put it together with a serpent I think it'd just creep me out lmao. I'd rather leave Yveltal/Xerneas as whatever typing they are, and then for the third to be something simple to tie them in and not necessarily related to typing, thinking about it.

Well, I though I agree with what you said there being too many and more legendaries we tend to have each new Generation comes out, these two legendary are the mascot version. There is no need bring this until new lengedaries ( I suspect there will be 4 trio with one of them have fourth member, 3 singular, and one pair of legendary) announced.

I already like Xerneas thanks to bloody good artist of Pixiv who draw it as they come out
Spoiler:

Sadly there is yet any Yvertal fan art worth mention :(

I understand that, and I respect that your opinion, and I even agree with you on some points, but, honestly? Arceus, Dialga and Palkia are only cannon towards the D/P/PL game arc. I don't think they will touch upon this new region of pokemon very much. Even if we did see the "god" of all the pokemon, I'm pretty sure there was more questions than answers to the world of pokemon, hence why we're introduced with these two legendaries already. I mean, consider this: Dialga and Palka represented time and space respectively. However, they don't represent things like the microscopic universe or more biology matters like anatomies or how pokemon generally feels -- which questions may pop up like, "why are they so submissive?" Which, I believe Yuvental and Xerneas has to offer possible answers for that, or maybe raise more questions. Who knows until we actually know what they represent.

I felt like Generation V explored some of the submissive question, though it didn't do as well a job as it could've though perhaps that's because there's many reasons for it.

I stil wonder what these legends will represent, hopefully we can get some kind of hint from the typing if it's closely linked like how the Weather trio, Palkia (space is often discribed as a ocean), and Giratina (antimatter is invisible and so are ghosts) are with their typings.

From the pictures so far, Xerneas looks like a Psychic/Steel type while Yveltal looks like a Dark/Flying type or Dark/Dragon type. Either way, there designs look pretty cool.

I think Xerneas looks more like a Grass/Psychic, whilst Yveltal does indeed look like a Dark/Flying. As much as I want this to be true, it would mean that Yveltal has a huge type advantage over Xerneas.
