Mark
"Hmm?" Mark replied when Valorie said his name. She sounded fairly frustrated. He wondered what that was all about. He hadn't noticed Selene was stareing at them so he wouldn't know ...
Mark noticed MacKenzie had found her way back... though Valorie had called out her Charizard which caused MacKenzie to fall over in shock. After that, Valorie flew off to take care of something... he hoped it wasn't too serious... or something related to himself. Mark simply nodded in agreement and let he do her own thing. Hopefully she would be back by then. It was a shame because Mark really wanted to show off his battle skills to Valorie...
"You alright over there Mac?" Mark joked, noticing how shocked she was. Mark reached for his belt and prepared to throw a pokeball. "You first." Mark said with a Smirk.
MacKenzie
Nearby students would back off, giving the two room to battle, though it was still a rather cramped space compared to most battlefields. To a limited degree students were allowed to battle on the boat, on the condition that they did it outside on the deck. There was of course some obvious restrictions. You could be sure that a pokemon firing off a hyper beam on the boat would probably not be looked at as safe. Yet, teachers had been informed of these sorts of dangers before hand and had been told to silently oversee any battles on the boat and intervene if necessary. In this case, the same teacher that had nearly intervened with Valorie's using Charizard to tell MacKenzie to back off watched silently from a distance. This was a stressful time for the teachers, as they had to be on their guard to protect the students from wayward thrown attacks and the ship as well. Yet, this was an excellent way to give the otherwise rowdy kids something to use their energy on, whether it be cheering on other battlers or participating themselves. Needless to say, a bunch of students were watching Mark and MacKenzie eagerly.
"Yeah~ I am now~" Her cool demeanor was back. She pulled out a pokeball. "Ladies first?" She asked, seeming to actually ask if that was what he was going for. She didn't consider herself a lady. Didn't have any illusions of such, really. Half of what she did was influenced by her urge to laugh at gender norms, as opposed to someone like Valorie who found caring about such things petty at best. 'Course, MacKenzie would never admit that the things she did were deliberate. She casually tossed the pokeball into the air, releasing Aile, her Dunsparce. Aile seemed to float in the air a moment, her small wings fluttering pretty hard before she slowly lowered to the ground. Dunsparce were very weak fliers. Seeing one that could even stay in the air at all was actually not all that common. This one was pretty good at what it did, to say the least. MacKenzie no doubt had plans to get it good at flying so that she could call it the coolest Dunsparce ever. Yet... Dunsparce was just physically not capable of a whole lot in that area.
Mark
MacKenzie had called out a Dunsparce. Interesting Pokemon... Mark thought. He had a little bit of knowledge on them since they were in Johto but never really battled one. As far as Mark remembered, He never really got to be in a battle where several kids would watch them... this would be a great way to get attention! If only Snype were here, he adored this kind of thing!
"Alright then. Your up Len!" Mark said as he threw his Pokeball and let out his Poliwag, Len. He had one thing to keep in mind. Len unfortunately wouldn't be able to use Dig on the ship, not without making a small hole on the deck that is and he was almost sure that both the teachers and the owners of the boat wouldn't like that. Still, Mark could manage. He still had plenty of tricks to work with. Mark took the liberty to attack first. Time to try out something new... Heh... this might not make too many people happy... But then again, It wasn't like the whole ship would be effected by a little rain cloud.
"Alright Len. Let's set the field of play! Rain Dance!" Mark called out. Len shot a ball of light into the air and actually did a little dance himself. The ball made a small rain cloud that rained down on the battlefield. The water did infact get a few students but the battle was just begining...
MacKenzie
MacKenzie stared for a moment before giving the order. "Aile, yawn!" Aile just sort of opened her mouth and yawned out loud. Normally you wouldn't expect a yawn to put someone to sleep, but as with most attacks that might seem kind of silly at first, it was backed with the mysterious power of pokemon. Thus, immediately when Len heard it, he would start to feel it's effects, though it was slow enough that Len would have enough time to get another attack out if he so tried.
Mark
Aile used Yawn... Darn he knew where this was going to lead. Mark's had a related strategy but maybe he could get lucky in the begining... he could try attacking but maybe this could stall some time to make up for his past mistake... either way... Len was gonna get hit alot when he fell asleep. May as well make an attempt!
"Len! Use hypnosis!" Mark called out. He would have used Mind reader first but he didn't have time to do that. It was all or nothing and if this hit, then it wouldn't matter if len fell asleep. It would only matter when one of them woke up.
MacKenzie
Now, unfortunately Mark had ordered Len to use Hypnosis on a pokemon whose eyes seemed to be perpetually closed. Now, the thing was, Aile's eyes were /actually closed/. That is to say, despite the fact that dunsparce have working eyes and good eyesight, they usually choose not to use them. The reason for this is that Dunsparce primarily lived underground or in dark caves where their eyes weren't of much use to them. Dunsparce instead used their sense of hearing and smell to locate things. Thus, hypnosis in particular as an attack didn't seem to work on Aile, as hypnosis usually relied on a pokemon having eyesight. "Alright Aile. Let's turn the tide. Sunny Day!" Aile focused her energy, and suddenly the rainy cloud was struck away by a powerful ray of sunlight bearing down on the battle. MacKenzie adjusted her hat. She wasn't intent on getting soaked.
Mark
Mark scratched his head. Unfortunately Hypnosis didn't work... well that was great. Len had then grown drowsy and had fallen asleep. He was sitting down and snoozing... Mark wasn't exactly thinking of Dunsparces own eyesight. He needed to make a note to look at the little things of Pokemon before doing something stupid like that. This might end up costing the battle now... that is, If Len didn't wake up...
"Gah Comon Len! Wake up!" Mark pleaded.
MacKenzie
Given, things in the pokemon world were not always as they seemed, ... like Brock. Never ask this roleplayer to figure out Brock's eyes, ever. MacKenzie grinned, pointing at Len and giving the order. "Alright, Aile. Headbutt it until it croaks!" MacKenzie was grinning. Aile had this ability referred to as Serene Grace. What it did was make her really dang good at inflicting things like status effects and getting pokemon to flinch. Not that it mattered... until Len woke up. Aile would just start headbutting Len, using her nose to keep track of where he was. Who knew how many headbutts she'd get in? Regardless, when Len woke up, he'd probably have a dunsparce trying to headbutt him right then and there.
Mark
Len got hit a good amount of times.. three to be exact. This wasn't going to go well... Len was taking a hell of a beatting. The third time it hit, Len had woken up. And he wasn't doing very good... Mark really underestimated this girl but he wasn't about to lose this time! Even if she ended up doing the same strategy... may as well start out simple.
"Len! Use Return!" Mark called out. He wasn't exactly confident about winning the first round... he felt it would be better to just call back Len but then his Pokemon wouldn't be satisfied. They wanted to give it their all. It wasn't Mark's decision if they should just give up. Len looked determined, even if things looked bleak.
MacKenzie
Len would be using Return against Aile's incoming headbutt. The two would crash into eachother. After a moment it would seem that both had taken a hit from the encounter. Aile fell to the ground. "Aile, defense curl!" And so Aile did. She curled up her abdomen, taking a defensive position. MacKenzie had figured that such a move would benefit her in the long run.
Mark
Len was pushed back by the impact of the two attacks and Aile decided to take a defenseive position. Ailes loss. As Len had that tactic covered.
"Len! Use Water Gun!" Mark called out. Len shot out a stream of water from his mouth straight for Aile to hopefully do a bit more damage on impact.
MacKenzie
Len used water gun. Yet... the harsh sun glaring down on the battle would reduce the effectiveness of such water attacks, such that it wasn't very effective. Aile just sort of opened her mouth and literally drank a mouthful of the water shot at her. Given, she didn't really like being doused in water. She wasn't a ground pokemon, contrary to some people's misconceptions. That was a personal issue though. Thus, she sort of tried to shake some of the water off briefly. "Alright Aile, now use Headbutt again!" Aile suddenly sprung through the air, flying at Len, water dripping off her pudgy, rather short serpentine body as she flew!
Mark
Len's water gun hit but the sun sure wasn't helping. he could see Len was quickly getting dehydrated by all of the sun... it wasn't healthy for him at all. Len was hit by Headbutt and was sent back again, still fairly weak. This wasn't good... Len wouldn't last in these conditions... gah... Mark was NOT planning this well... Len looked at Mark pleadingly.
"...Alright. You win round one Mac. Return Len." Mark said, returning him to his Pokeball. If only Len could use Dig... then maybe things would be a bit different on his end. Len was pretty baddly crippled without that technique... He looked at able's pokeball but wasn't so sure of bringing her out after her behavior earlier...
"...Alright commodore! You up!" Mark said as he called out Commodore and let it out of its pokeball. Mark felt terrible about Len... he would really have to make it up to him... time to even up the odds a bit this time! Commodore had plenty of tricks up his sleave as well!
MacKenzie
MacKenzie looked over the Porygon. She noted that maybe she wouldn't mind having one of those. Maybe. She'd have to research it later to see how popular it was and whether she could even find it here on the island. Regardless. She looked down at Aile, who was still plenty ready for battle. "Alright... Aile, yawn again!" And so Aile yawned. This seemed to be her major strategy for Aile. Though, honestly Aile hadn't been properly trained yet. MacKenzie realized that in all this time she hadn't gotten Aile to learn Glare! She would have to fix that later.
Mark
Same strategy... blast it all... though Len mostly didn't last too long because of the bright sun shining down. He didn't do too well in the sun... though being a water pokemon that was normal and Aile was likely to get another hit on Commodore when he fell asleep. Thankfully Commodore knew Trace. With a little bit of luck...
"...Commodore! Use Psybeam!" Mark called out. Commodore fired out a Psybeam. He would fall asleep the next turn but with luck... hopefully Commodore could confuse Aile... if not, he would have to pray that Commodore would hang in there.
MacKenzie
Aile was hit, but no dice on the confusion. Psybeam failed to do such far, far more often than it actually succeeded in it, sadly. Aile was blown back a few feet by the beam. On the other hand, she was now sufficiently hurt that when the beam cleared her fatigue was clearly visible. MacKenzie noticed this as well. Aile would probably be able to take one, or maybe even two more of those attacks, but no more at this rate. The harsh sunlight faded from the sky "Alright Aile, di--" MacKenzie stopped herself. That drill on Dunsparce's tail was certainly powerful enough, but the consequences would probably be grave...pun intended. "Alright, you know the drill! Headbutt it!" And so it was a repeat of last battle so far, with Aile headbutting away at Commodore until he woke up.
Mark
Deja Vu... although lucky for Mark, Commodore wasn't as big of a sleeper as Len was. Geez he would have to take them on more excercise runs to get them less drowsy next morning he gets the chance... after two hits, Commodore woke up. Its face was still as blank as ever... must not have been fun to be artificial.
"Alright Commodore, Charge Beam!" Mark called out. Commodore prepared a electric beam and shot it straight toward Aile. The attack gave Porygon a good jolt in his systems too and strengthened him up a bit.
MacKenzie
Aile was struck by the charge beam. It seemed to have a similar effect to Psybeam on her in terms of how much it hurt, but in truth it had hurt a bit less. Regardless, she was pretty hurt now, and she got kind of upset. She didn't like all the pain, as she was a bit of a cowardly pokemon in truth. Didn't like to fight a whole lot. Had always preferred to run away in the wild. Thus, she suddenly started using rage of her own accord! She came at Commodore and just sort of flailed at him in an upset frenzy, not to be confused with the actual move flail. Meanwhile, MacKenzie just sort of watched, not showing her disappointment.
Mark
Aile was going nuts... she was mostly just flailing like crazy at Commodore now. Though all of the recklessness would be Aile's demise in the end hopefully.
"Commodore! Move out of the way!" Mark said. With ease, Commodore got out of the way of her attack. Boy was she upset... not that Commmodore could feel any sympathy for her. He was artifically programed... and self aware of that fact. "Commodore! Charge beam once more!" Mark called out. Commodore once again fired a charge beam straight for Aile...
MacKenzie
Aile was blown backwards by the charge beam and just sort of fell over onto her back. For a moment it would be hard to tell if she was fainted or not... except then she flipped back over. Her eyes, despite still being closed, were teary, and she kinda looked beat up enough that she should be fainted. Yet... There she was, standing. She got angrier, but it was actually at her trainer. Aile raised her drill tail into the air and it began to spin. MacKenzie's eyes widened. That was how she dug! She was trying to run away! MacKenzie wipped out her pokeball and returned Aile before she could damage the boat. She then gave the pokeball a disapproving look before exhanging it with another one. Aile apparently got stressed and upset easily. Go figure. MacKenzie sent out Beest, her Beedrill... who promptly took a stereotypical looking kung-fu stance. "Alright Beest, Acrobatics!" Beest responded by flying at Commodore. Beest was a lot faster than Aile, and would proceed to strike at Commodore with both her arm stingers and legs whilst flying at him.
Mark
"Um..." Mark was sort of concerned for the Dunsparce as it was growing teary eyed... what really suprised mark was when she was about to dig into the boat. Thankfully MacKenzie returned her back just on time before the teachers stepped in. No interuptions... Mark wasn't going to let that happen. They both had one pokemon down after all. Anything could happen! Next up was a Beedrill named Beest... it was told to use Acrobatics.
"Commodore! Watch out!" Mark called out. Though Commodore was hit by the fairly powerful attack. It hit pretty darn hard to. Commodore retaliated once again with charge beam. With the two boosts in special attack, A well placed Charge beam would leave quite a Mark on Beest... Mark wasn't one for using the same move over and over but right now it was working well for him and proving effective.
Commodore fired a Charge Beam straight toward Beest once again to hopefully deal a good ammount of damage quickly. Commodore was growing extremely tired...
MacKenzie
Beest was hit by the Charge Beam, and yet Charge Beam was not /that/ strong of an attack to begin with. Beest took the attack, electricity arcing across her body. After a moment Beest seemed to get over it. "Follow it up with another Acrobatics." MacKenzie was not intent to allow Commodore to play around with charge beam anymore. A couple more charge ups and the attack might actually become deadly. She amused herself with the thought.
Mark
Commodore was hit by the attack and was down for the count. After the last hit, He finally fainted. Mark sighed and returned Commodore to his ball. At least he was able to do fairly well on his own. Two pokemon left... all Bugs. May as well take the risk.
"Alright Able! Your turn!" Mark called out. As soon as Able was released from the ball she was moving aroun dat rapid speeds. Infact, she was so obsessed with seeing all of the people around her. If you didn't have a sharp eye, it would almost look like she were invisible. Though she eventually went to the battlefield and looked at her opponent.
"Alright Able... use..." Before Mark could finish, Able turned around to him and let out a death defying screech. The noise... ah! It was so loud and obnoxious! "No! Able use..." Able screeched again...
MacKenzie
Several nearby students would cover their ears in pain. The teacher's attention was drawn. MacKenzie made a face that looked like she was trying to force a smile on there. Gosh. That was inconvenient. Beest seemed to shudder. MacKenzie meanwhile had a decission to make. To poison sting or not to poison sting. After a moment of cringing at the sound of that screech she pointing to Able. "Beest, use Poison Sting!" And so Beest launched a flurry of purplish needles from her stingers at Able, intent on shutting the screeching pokemon up by poisoning it. Or at least, that was Beest's plan anyway.
Mark
"Gah! Able! Stop it!" Mark pleaded to the annoyingly loud Ninjask. Why was she doing this? She seemed fine before when she was a Nincada... it made no sense... at least to Mark's knowledge. Able looked back and noticed the Flurry of Purple needles headed for Able. With her swift speed, she was able to dodge the attack. Mark wasn't sure if he should talk... he was afraid Able would make that sound again.
Without the need of hearing a Command, Able used Double team. Too add to her rediculously high speed, there were now several of them flying around Beest...
MacKenzie
MacKenzie crossed her arms disappointedly. Clearly this pokemon had eyes in the back of it's head and absurd reaction times in addition to speed which would otherwise be useless in dodging well aimed attacks. Regardless, she was ready to change tactics to deal with this. "Beest, hold your ground." Suddenly, Beest landed, taking a rather cheesy looking kung-fu stance. Beest literally seemed to be waiting for an attack to be thrown at it.
Mark
"Huh... Waiting for us to attack it eh? Alright Able! use..." Able practicly screamed at Mark once more as if completely disagreeing with his tactics. What was he doing wrong? Beest was right there! Wide open! Able refused to listen to Mark and instead was going by her own rules.
"Able comon! Stop acting like thi..." Able turned to the Beedrill and once again used Screech, giving off the annoying ear piercing noise once again...
MacKenzie
Beest sort of winced and MacKenzid frowned. Gee. Never thought this was how she would go deaf. Regardless. Double Team clones definitely could not mimic a screech, as the attack wasn't exactly something you could mimic without actually doing it. Therefore, Beest became aware of the position ot the real Able. She cassualy moved one of her stinger arms in Able's direction, taking aim and lanching off a poison sting without moving. The way Beest attacked almost seemed to imply that she couldn't be arsed to do something more offensive.
Mark
Even With Able's rapid speeds. Beest's poison sting managed to hit Able. Though she was luckily not effected by the poison. Able kept on getting faster and faster by the minute... Able moved in once again with Fury cutter and swiped at Beest. It wasn't concecutive so it began very weak but if she could keep the attack going, it would surely be a force to recon with. The fact that Able was getting faster was helping her even further.
MacKenzie
Beest once again seemed to be waiting. When Able came at her with Fury Cutter she suddenly met face to face with a transclucent green wall! It was protect! Able would find that it simply brushed off the attacks. Now... now it was Beest's turn. She had been waiting for Able to attack so that she wouldn't have to deal with any double team shenanigans and would be able to simply strike back without having to chase Able down. Seeing as Poison Sting had been shown to not be working, she abruptly used Acrobatics, flying at Able and striking at her with her limbs! Unfortunately, flying types gained no protection from their own moves, leaving Able to fear for her bug type weakness. "Yeah, take it down a notch, Beest!" MacKenzie seemed to benjoying the spectacle quite a bit, though she would've preffered if she could've induced poison. That would've turned the tides in her favor.
Mark
Able was countered by Beedrill and hit straight on by Acrobatics. It sure left a good deal of damage to Able but she felt the need to continue fighting. Able would be sure not to fall for that trick again... Since protect tended not to work if used consecutively, Able felt the need to try attacking once more... If Beedrill was going to keep protecting then using Fury Cutter wouldn't be a good tactic... either way, it was her best way of attacking. Able Decided to be a bit more tricky, flying circles around Beest before striking her again with Fury Cutter.
MacKenzie
Beedrill was struck by the Fury Cutter, and yet... being part poison type she resisted it. All that screeching had only really served to even the playing field, and even then Fury Cutter wasn't all that powerful of a move unless used consecuitively. Beedrill recoiled a bit before suddenly coming at Able and using Fury Attack! What this meant was that she would be trying to jab Able with her arm needles in an extremely rapid manner. Adrenaline helped fuel the onslaught as she would be able to attack anywhere between 2-5 times depending on how many hits she could get in.
Mark
Able wasn't satisfied that Fury Cutter was her only way to effectively hurt this beedrill, although Screech was bound to make up for it. Two screeches were sure to have done a good number on her defenses. Able could fit in one more to really leave Beest wide open... but decided against it. Beedrill weren't exactly tanks or anything, but then again, neither were Ninjask.
Mark was going to give off a command but Able immediately moved in to use Leech life on Beest. Able stuck her arms into Beedrill and attempted to suck some life out of Beedrill to benefit herself... this wouldn't effect Beedrill to heavily either, but the lowered defense would add a bit of benefit to the overall damage.
MacKenzie
Beest had leech life used on her and felt... very violated. Once again she resisted the attack, which had been weak to start with. Yet, she wasn't looking too hot. In fact, MacKenzien noticed that she seemed to be a bit dizzy judging by the way she moved. Perhaps that was a side effect of the whole blood sucking idea. Repeated attacks were taking there toll, though it was mostly the charge beam, which had been the most powerfl by a long shot. One could not stress how absurdly little damage these attacks would be doing without all that screeching in place enough. Screech was the only reason they weren't borderline harmless, even to a pokemon as frail as a beedrill. Regardless, MacKenzie didn't think she could stand up to another attack. Beedrill made a slightly clumsy attempt at using Acrobatics on Able again.
Mark
Able noticed that Beedrill was getting rather tired and had attempted to use Acrobatics once more though it looked fairly clumsy. Able was able to dodge the attack swiftly and decided to get another Leech life in to get herself a bit more healthy before hopefully knocking out Beest. Able was handling herself very well... without Mark's command. She knew an awful lot about battling.. it made Mark feel pretty bad about himself as a trainer in general. He was being upclassed by a Pokemon! Heck his own lousy commands got two of his other pokemon out...
MacKenzie
Beest was leech lifed again and just sort of squirmed, feeling very violated. Yet, after a moment her legs just sort of gave out from underneath her and she just sort of collapsed onto the ground in a semi-dramatic manner. MacKenzie frowned and returned Bees, sending out Limpet, her Remoraid. Limpet took one look at Ninjask and locked on appropriately, as they tended to do. After a moment Limpet then proceeded to fire off a psybeam.
Mark
Able was hit by a direct Psybeam thanks to Limpet's Lock on. This could be trouble... even with Able's high speeds, There was no way that Able was going to be able to dodge well aimed attacks like these... Double team wouldn't exactly be effective though Limpet would have to take time to Lock on between attacks so that could be used to Able's advantage.
"Uh... Able?" Mark said. Able ignored him and went about her own buisness. Leech life restored a good ammount of health for Able so she didn't feel too tired to keep on going. She decided to go on about using Fury Cutter.
MacKenzie
Limpet just sort of stared Able down. This was a pokemon whose only other defining trait other than 'hangs on to mantine' was 'can shoot bugs out of the sky with ease with it's incredible aiming ability'. Seriously. The Fury Cutter didn't seem to have all that much effect, at least for this first time anyway, though it did seem to hurt Limpet on some level as he was pushed back a bit by the strike. Now, of course like many water pokemon Limpet could float out of water to a limited degree. This was sort of important to mention, though it had no relevance to his next attack. "Limpet, use water gun!" Limpet opened his mouth before shooting a powerful spray of water at Able.
Mark
Able was hit head on by Water gun. She was getting fairly tired... despite having restored a bit of health. But she was going to go all out on this thing. Able flew toward Limpet and used Fury Cutter once more, this time with more force. Mark just stood there watch as he was being told by his own Pokemon... it showed he really needed to go out and do some training of his own...
MacKenzie
The attack seemed to hurt more this time, but it still wasn't anywhere near enough. Limpet was probably one of MacKenzie's more offensively orientated pokemon. In fact, in terms of moves it was probably /the/ most offensively orientated pokemon she owned, even more so than Peinture, though Peinture was arguably stronger. The thing was both Peinture Beest were more ballanced in that they had defensive moves in their arsenal. Limpet on the the other hand had none. "Alright Limpet, let's switch it up again. Psybeam!" Limpet adjusted his name and fired off a psybeam at Able. MacKenzie couldn't help but wonder how Able was still stand--er, flying after all this abuse from her pokemon. It was... impressive, to say the least.
Mark
Able was hit again... and her speed was lacking as she got weaker and weaker. Though she was satisfied by how she did in battle at least. She eventually collapsed onto the ground and fainted. Mark returned able to her ball, proud at how well she did in battle. One more Pokemon... He didn't even know what the other pokemon he had was. Nonetheless, it was time to figure out.
Mark threw out the pokeball and out came a Shedinja. It appeared when Nincada evolved. He wasn't sure if that was related in some way or form but he hoped that this Pokemon would do him justice.
"Shedinja! Fury Swipes!" Mark called out. Shedinja floated plainly to Limpit and began to swipe at the Remoraid.
MacKenzie
Limpet was swiped at several times, yet not willing to go down. MacKenzie would have him shoot water gun and psybeam several times only to find that they seemed to be having disturbingly little effect. Considering switching was an automatic forfeit of the round not a whole lot else could come of this battle until Limpet finally fainted. Yet, before he went down MacKenzie had him use Sunny day, intensifying the suns rays. MacKenzie seemed pretty unamused. She knew enough to say she was pretty sure something was wrong. Now watch this. MacKenzie proceeded to pull out her tablet and start trying to research Mark's pokemon! Regardless, she couldn't just make Mark wait very long. She tossed out her next pokemon, Mew the tangela. "Alright Mew, your turn." Mew just sort of basked in the sun for a moment, seeming to quiver for a moment as her skin glowed with a green aura. Say hello to Chlorophyll. "Use sleep powder." And just like that, with uncanny speed, Mew proceeded to shoot a sort of dust like substance at Shedinja, attempting to put it asleep.

MacKenzie
Meanwhile, MacKenzie had begun looking up Shedinja on that tablet. Mew just sort of looked back at her as if impatient. MacKenzie looked up. Huh. Sleep Powder had worked! Yet, those other attacks hadn't. What was that all about? She was tempted to attack Shedinja right then and there, but let's face it that wasn't her style at all. "Alright, now Leech Seed." Mew proceeded to shoot seeds from within his vines, which were aimed to land on that sleeping shedinja. Meanwhile, MacKenzie was still trying to research it.
Mark
Shedinja was hit by Leech seed as well! Mark didn't know what was going on, but Shedinja was still sleeping... oh well. Just little leech seed. Shedinja would manage. Suddenly, the leech seed absorbed health out of Shedinja and over to Mew. Shedinja fainted instantly.
"What?!" Mark yelled out. What the heck just happened? He didn't just lose that round instantly did he? He wasn't even sure what happened! Shedinja was just sent out! Mark facepalmed himself...
"Gah... darn it all... Alright then Mac... I guess you..." Before Mark could finish, something jumped into the battlefield... it was Snype! Just on time! Snype looked over to Mew and gave off a small chuckle. He made a gesture as if telling Mew to come to where he was, practicly taunting it.
"Alright Snype. Let's get this battle over with!" Mark said happily. He and his Partner were ready to give MacKenzie a big suprise... he was still interested in what the case was with Shedinja though...
MacKenzie
MacKenzie's eyes widened slightly, though she did her best to restrain her surprise. What exactly had just happened? She hadn't a clue. ... So she kept reading... until she heard Mark uttering those fateful words, only to stop himself in mid-sentence. Hmm? Where had that other pokemon come from? She just sort of blinked and frowned as Snype taunted Mew. Well...drat. There went her strategy. She just sort of pointed at Snype. Well, there was always mindlessly beating the opponent until it fainted! "Mew, use Leaf Storm." And so it was, Mew launched a storm of small sharp leaves at Snype. It was like Razor Leaf on steroids!
Mark
Snype witnessed the incoming Leaf Storm... his eyes glowing brightly with excitement. Snype moved through the storm of leafs and avoided as much of them as he could. He took a bit of damage but was able to get close enough to really deal some hurt on Mew. He was just standing there, with a bright smile. His eyes glowing brightly... he was using detect. With his independent attitude, useing detect without his trainer yelling it out was usually a better approach. He was prepared for Mew's next attack... and ready to counter it. Right now, Snype was still messing with Mew.
MacKenzie
Mew did not wait, as he more or less couldn't. He immediately launched another storm of sharp leaves wildly in Snype's direction. He had been rendered blind to using strategy and was now just sort of attacking with great offensive power in mind, though he had little to no variety of attacks. Meanwhile, MacKenzie just sort of stared silently.
Mark
Snype laughed and dodged every single one of the leafs thanks to detect. He took this opprotunity to move counter attack with Sucker Punch, delivering a hard blow toward Mew with nice punch in the face. Mark was glad Snype was here to help... he was his most experienced pokemon by far...
MacKenzie
Mew was knocked back some, but abruptly caught himself and ran at Snype at an incredible speed, all whilst sending out yet another leaf storm. This time, he would attempt to jump right over snype as the leaves were sent flying. MacKenzie became frustrated watching her pokemon act this way. It wasn't all that 'cool'. At least, not to her it wasn't.
Mark
Snype looked up at Mew and saw that he was trying to use Leaf storm from the air. Snype held his arms up in a cross shape pattern and noticed that... the leafs weren't exactly as strong as they were when he was first hit by them. In fact, they didn't seem to hurt all that much. He shrugged it off and was ready to attack again.
MacKenzie
Mew was struck again. Snype would find that oddly enough, those vines were actually quite hairy! Mew looked kind of beat up, and yet MacKenzie didn't seem to have a whole lot of sympathy for the pokemon. Mew just sort of stumbled and...used synthesis. MacKenzie smiled. Taunt had worn off. Yet, so had the sun, preventing it from being as effective as it could have.
Mark
Taunt had worn off... well Snype wasn't about to let anything clever happen to him. His strategy had been working out well before and he figured he may as well keep going until he won. He was pumped to keep on going! He taunted Mew once more...
MacKenzie
And Mew turned on Snype and fired another Leaf Storm at him. At this point, he couldn't /be/ any more exhausted, which was causing his attacsks to lack their edge. Yet, Leaf Storm was still an extremely powerful attack, even if it was being used by a pokemon who lacked in actual strength. MacKenzie crossed her arms, waiting for what she saw as inevitable. Taunt was shutting down her strategy sure, but could Mark take down all three of her remaining pokemon? She questioned that.
Mark
Snype avoided the next Leaf storm and even if the leafs did hit, the attack was exsausted enough. Snype used Shadow Sneak once more to hopefully finish Mew... Things still weren't looking too hot though. who knew how much Pokemon this girl had? Would Snype be able to beat all of them...?
MacKenzie
And Mew... did not go down. Mew was a pretty tough cookie to crack when it came to physical attacks. Regardless, it didn't look like he could take anymore, and despite this, he was ready to launch another leaf storm at Snype...until MacKenzie returned him. "Y'know what, let's just skip to the chase." She said. Sure, she had lost the round, but she had also been tired of watching the same old show. Picking up her next pokeball, she sent out Melody. Melody came out of her ball spinning on one toe and letting out a cry in a sing song tone. "Melody? Attract." MacKenzie was in a somewhat bad mood from watching the battle between Snype and Mew. Though, she was also trying not to show it. Regardless, Melody proceeded to emit a pink floating heart which floated through the air towards Snype. SNYPE, RUN. OH GOD RUN. NOT THIS AGAIN.
Mark
Snype backed away nervously, noticing Melody was using attract! Snype shook his head thinking "Not that! Anything but that!" Snype wasn't going to get hit by that! He ran around trying to avoid the heart... He wasn't about to let a trick like this hit him! Thyme would hopefully understand even if it did hit him... but still... unfortunately for Snype, the heart hit, and his emotions had been tampered with thanks to that... He was mostly trying to resist the whole time... he had his hands practicly gripping onto his skull to get these thoughts out of his head... he wasn't going to let this effect him!
Snype looked up at Melody and tried his hardest to resist the influence of attract... He felt terrible!
MacKenzie
Get ready to feel worse Snype, because Melody's entire strategy revolves around basically flirting her male opponents to death.. or...y'know, until she was pretty sure she could punch them in the face without them seeing it coming. MacKenzie just sort of watched Snype attempt to flee from the heart. She herself personally found it hilarious, not at all realizing the exact reason behind it. As far as she knew Snype was just embarassed. Regardless, things were about to get much more horrible for Snype as Melody walked up to him. Cue her gently taking him and applying a sweet kiss!
Mark
Snype looked up again and noticed Melody walking closer to him... what was she doing...? All of a sudden, Melody took him into a kiss! He wasn't even sure what to think of that but his face was all red. He needed to use taunt and fast... or he was boned... Snype begged for Thyme to forgive him for all of this... if she was watching. Though now he was just confused. For one, he felt used.
He tried to attack Melody but instead gave himself a good Jab to the face
MacKenzie
Melody oddly enough didn't seem to mind all this flirting all that much. One had to wonder what kind of person she had to be to be perfectly comfortable with doing this to another pokemon. Yet, ... whoever assumed such a thing would be wrong to assume such a thing. The next step in the equation was for Melody to use her charms to widdle away at Snype's ability to hurt her even further. Yet.. she caught something in Snype's eye, a hint of the emotion he was feeling. Snype would find that Melody suddenly looked a bit disconcerted and hesitated to make a move. Melody then turned and looked back at MacKenzie with the same look. MacKenzie just sort of looked down at Melody and gave her a quizical look. What was her pokemon's problem? She didn't usually have problems finishing off other pokemon. "Melody, use /charm/" Melody abruptly pushed Snype down on his stomach and hopped on top of him. Given, she was really dang light. She then just sort of waved her arms arms nervously.
Melody: "N-Nope! He's fainted! Pretty sure!"
MacKenzie just sort of stared skeptically. The thing was, she couldn't understand pokemon. Melody was actually trying to get the message to Snype. She didn't want to fight him anymore, but she didn't want to disappoint her trainer. Snype was free of her power over him, needless to say.
Mark
Snype had been pushed by Melody and she went on an jumped on top of his back. She seemed to be implying that Snype had fainted... he didn't want to dissapoint Mark, but what was he going to do at this rate? He was practicly doomed at this rate... Snype decided to go with it and faked out a faint. Whatever the case, Melody didn't want to fight Snype anymore... He was thankful that Melody was understanding of the situation... "Thanks..." Snype whispered... Snype still couldn't stand that this was the way he would go down... though it could be assumed that the Jab to the face he gave himself was enough to knock him out. At least it would give a couple good laughs.
Mark facepalmed himself lightly... he just lost that battle... wonderful. He couldn't believe Snype would go down so easily due to the Charms of Melody... though Snype didn't seem to be exsausted... he had no idea what the case was but at the rate things were going, Snype was bound to lose. May as well not tourture him further... Mark wasn't sure what to say.
MacKenzie
Meanwhile, MacKenzie watched this whole scene and raised an eyebrow. She supposed those leaf storms must've worn snype down so much that the accidental jab to the face had been enough to finish him off. She wasn't sure what to make of the whole Melody dissobeying her though. Melody hopped off of Snype and just sort of looked around nervously, not sure if her ploy had worked or not.
MacKenzie: "So..."
Mark
Mark sighed. May as well be straight with it. Mark wasn't the kind of person to get depressed over losing a battle but for some reason he didn't feel very confident in his own abilities. Mostly because of Able's performance in battle.
"...Well hey, Good battle Mac. You had some pretty clever strategys there." Mark said with a small smile. Though the problem was that he had to go by his word... Mackenzie could go off and bug both Mark and Valorie... well so much for hanging out.
MacKenzie
Little did Mark realize that crazy stuff was happening between Valorie and Selene whilst they were battling. Several of the students cheered at the result of the battle after it became clear that a victory had been achieved, yet alot more didn't. MacKenzie was popular, but often for the wrong reasons, such as doing something insane. "Yeah! You gave me more of a challenge then those Suicune nerds." She crossed her arms idly. Several nearby suicune students made noises of mock insult as they began to walk away. "Now, ah.. I've got /one/ question for you. Just one." She got on this mischevious face. Was she implying she'd leave him alone? Perhaps.
Mark
Mark's mood brightened up a little. Well he didn't end up like that Suicune student that kissed her butt and assuming that didn't happen yet, he assumed he was on Mac's good side. He gave a small chuckle when the Suicune students made sounds of mockery. Snype was still faking the whole fainting act. he would wake up soon when he regained "conciousness".
"A question? Um... what would that be?" Mark asked.
MacKenzie
MacKenzie walked on over and proceeded to invade Mark's personal space, leaning closer to him, face to face, almost literally. She had this look on her face that was borderline flirting. "So what's up with you and Valorie huh?" She almost seemed to be teasing. In fact, she sort of was. Meanwhile, Melody glanced at Snype briefly.
Mark
Mark leaned back a little when MacKenzie had leaded her face up to his. Well he decided not to question it... but Mac was wondering what the deal was with Valorie. He wasn't sure if he should tell her... though he did lose the battle... Meanwhile Snype regained his "Conciousness". The battle was over and Snype was fairly worn out himself.
"Um... Val? Well... I was mostly looking forward to hanging out with her... she was going through alot this morning apparently and I helped to cheer her up... afterwards we decided to walk out to the deck... well... I think it's pretty clear that I... well... I like her... though I haven't really told Val that yet..." Mark said, scratching his head nervously.
MacKenzie
Melody promptly turned, noticing Snype was awake, and just sort of awkwardly started apologizing. She seemed pretty upset about the whole deal.
Melody: "I'm sorry! I'm really sorry! Please don't tell your girlfriend."
Waait a second. How did she even come to that conclussion? That last part was added in in a rather pathetic tone. It was honestly added in because she was afraid said girlfriend would kick her butt. She seemed kind of down in general about this.
Meanwhile, MacKenzie blanked. Well, that was easy. She backed off a bit. "Huh. Why haven't you told her yet?" She was curios. Wanted to figure out what Mark knew and did not know. Was considering what to tell him. It was all a game of strategy to her now.
Mark
Snype blinked at Melody's appology. Somehow she was aware that Snype was indeed with someone... At least she was aware of it. It must not have felt right to mess with somebodys emotions like that.
"Hey hey, Don't worry its cool. Trust me, you don't want to see her when she's angry. Hehe... don't worry about it too much. Ah... still though, thanks for not going too far with all of that. I'd never forgive myself." Snype said.
Mark scratched his head. "Well... I dunno why... for awhile I've mostly been waiting for a good time to really tell her... somewhere quiet personally. Timing you know? I dunno if she thinks the same way about me... but I'm thinking of taking a chance... maybe today..." Mark said.
MacKenzie
Melody hesitated a moment before abruptly hugging Snype in a ... totally harmless way. Given, Snype has now experienced a jigglypuff hug. Softest squishiest hug in the universe.
Melody: "Thank you..!"
Meanwhile, MacKenzie absorbed this info. Well, she had certainly asked more than one question. Regardless, she wasn't even done, sadly. Her next step was to find out whether Mark knew about Valorie's feelings for Selene.
MacKenzie: "So... you don't think there's any competition for her?"
Well that was a weird way to phrase it. She was however prying, trying to see if he had any idea.
Mark
Snype was immediately hugged by Melody. A jigglypuff hug... well, it was sure comfy, being how squishy Jigglypuff was in the first place. Snype almost lost balance and fell onto his back since he was sitting still though Jigglypuff was a fairly light pokemon anyways.
"Heh... um... not a problem." Snype said.
Mark was confused by the question... competition? He didn't really notice anybody else wanting Valorie...
"Um... not really... Not from what I've noticed at least..." Mark said a bit quieter this time.
MacKenzie
Melody let go and just sort of smiled at Snype lightly. Then it occured to her she didn't know what to say. Her expression just sort of went blank before she finally decided on something.
Melody: "So, uh..."
MacKenzie briefly registered that Melody was talking to someone, though she didn't react to it. Whatever. Not a big deal, yes? She did however smirk at what Mark had said. Did she get in his business even more and tell him, or...
MacKenzie: "Well... I happen to know..."
She just sort of lead Mark on, pausing to give him time to, y'know, actually answer.
Mark
"Hmm? Whats up?" Snype asked Melody. She seemed to have wanted to say something... as far as Snype was concerned that is...
Mark was curious now... MacKenzie know somebody else that had their eyes on Val? Well... it wasn't like he was worried or anything... but he couldn't help but ask.
"Know? Know... what?" Mark asked.
MacKenzie
Hook, line, and sinker. MacKenzie was pleased with the fact that Mark bit her bait. She looked away and spoke in a thoughtful tone. "Well..." She then turned back to Mark, seeming to be musing over something. "If you must know, as it so happens I found out--" She paused, second guessing herself very briefly, covering it up by being calm as can be. "Valorie's in love with Selene." Oh boy. Selene was going to kill her. She silently thought she wouldn't be caught though, so oh well. MacKenzie simply waited to see Mark's response.
Melody meanwhile just sort of hesitated a moment before lowering her gaze and speaking up in this rather embarassed tone.
Melody: "How did you get a girlfriend..?"
Contrary to what the words might suggest, she wasn't teasing him, and her tone reflected this. It sounded more like she was stumped by her own qestion. Whether she actually meant /girl/friend specifically or if she simply meant a lover was an entirely different story.
Mark
Now Mark was REALLY confused... In love with Selene? That just seemed... well, Mark didn't understand it at all really... he knew that they were good friends and was willing to respect Val's own decisions... but he wasn't sure if he should believe this.
"Wha? Loves Sel? Wait... how in the world do you know this?" Mark asked.
Snype's cheeks went red for a moment. Well that was an odd question... how DID he get a girlfriend? Well... maybe it wasn't so hard to explain.
"Kehe... well, me and her had an understanding after awhile... lets just say that I have a certain charm. Hehe. It's kind of a long story... a really long story infact... but I mostly just spent alot of time with her and we ended up sticking together... why do you ask?" Snype wondered.
MacKenzie
MacKenzie couldn't help it. She smirked. She was having fun. She loved it when all she had to do was tell the truth to get her way. It made it feel so guilt free! Regardless, she couldn't get too carried away. She wanted to see what became of the three after all was said and done.
"Well... how do I explain this. I sort of /saw/ it. In her eyes. She isn't that great at hiding those emotions."
MacKenzie peered off into the distance, as if in thought.
"I guess she's afraid to tell anyone."
She then looked back, checking Mark's reaction, her expression stoic.
Meanwhile, Melody just sort of blanked for a moment before awkwardly admitting something in a defeated tone.
Melody: "...I can't get a boyfriend."
Mark
"Hmm... Guess I'm not to great at inteting this stuff... though... I think it would be best if I made sure of it myself... I mean... well... I'm not really sure..." Mark said. Valorie in love with Selene... he honestly wasn't sure how to respond to that... Mark did like Valorie and was looking forward to telling her how he felt... but now it all just seemed awkward to him... NOw what was he supposed to do?
Meanwhile Snype was rather touched that Melody was looking for a boyfriend. He wasn't sure how to help but being a boy, he supposed he could give some pointers... or at least advise.
"A boyfriend huh? Why have you been having trouble? You seem like the type that guys would just swarm around!" Snype complimented.
MacKenzie
MacKenzie looked away and spoke in a casual tone. It came easy, because, well, she was telling the truth as she saw it! What else could she do, right? Of course, she was playing it in a fashion to benefit herself in some way.
"Alright, sure! Just thought I'd let you know."
And it seemed she was just going to leave it at that? Or so it seemed.
Meanwhile, Melody looked up, pleased with the compliment.
Melody: "You think so..? It's just... Boys tend to hate me for ... my battling strategies..."
She seemed to become a bit frustrated and depressed as she said that. It was MacKenzie who made her fight like this. Go figure. The girl who was an expert at flirting was loveless.
Mark
"Um... sure... thanks Mac..." Mark said. It was funny that Mark was saying MacKenzie's name in short as if he was friends with her or something. Well considering they battled, Mark seemed to know a fair ammount about her and she didn't seem to mind being called that... Mark began to wonder where Val was... now everything was all awkward... yeesh... just got on the boat and already the day has taken an odd turn.
"They do? That's weird... I'd figure with guys it would be the exact opposite or something. I mean... maybe its because your techniques sort of force them to like you or something? That could be one of the things... maybe if you took a different approach? Is there somebody in particular your interested in?" Snype asked.
MacKenzie
MacKenzie looked back at Mark. She of course didn't mind the nickname at all. It was pretty hip, for her anyway. After a moment she turned to look at Mark over her shoulder.
MacKenzie: "Still want me to go?"
She just sort of threw the question out there.
Meanwhile, Melody didn't understand why Snype thought she'd be good with guys at all. She just sort of gave him a blank, somewhat hopeless look. At the mention of her techniques and... forcing people, she just sort of averted her gaze.
Melody: "...My trainer makes me do it. I don't get a lot of choices except disobeying her."
Mark
Mark snapped back into reality when MacKenzie wondered if she wanted to go. Now that he thought about it... he wasn't sure at the moment... he was still fairly confused after all... though, he was motly doing this for Val.
"Well... it wasn't me moreso... was mostly doing all of that for Val... erm... " Mark said quietly... a tad emberessed himself.
Snype was quickly reminded that not all pokemon were trained to act independently like Snype was. Snype could go about doing his own thing without the need of listening to a trainer, but it was different for others...
"Well... this is coming from me, all guys are different... but some guys like a girl thats... well, nice... talkative... just wants to stay by his side as long as possible... trust me, love is rather complicated. Hehe. You should me when I fell in love!" Snype said, with a bit of added humor.
