Hello you. I don't know who you are and you don't know who I am. I just wanted to tell you something:
Look at this image and remember the day when you first played this game. Remember what it felt to start this game and be on a journey full of things you did not expect, not knowing that this will be one of the most memorable games in your whole life.
Now, you know that you could download a rom and start playing again... but we know that this thrill, that happiness of standing before something new and unexpected can never be felt again in that same way, it is lost forever.
Have a nice day.

[FONT="G.B.Boot"]I'm glad to present the very first HACK ROM of Pokemon Yellow:

ziK1L85.png

Features:

  • Slightly edited Title Screen.
  • New map layout. A few changes on cities, buildings, routes and caves (Eyecandy). Some of them have been remade from scratch.
  • New palletes for some Pokemon. Also, new sprites and backsprites for some Pokemon and Trainers.
  • All 151 Pokemon are obtaineable. Said so, Raichu can be caught in the wild somewhere, because any Pikachu cannot evolve by Thunder Stone, even wild ones.
  • Move Type, Power and Secondary effects have been improved to a few moves. CHECK README.TXT FOR MORE DETAILED INFO.
  • Learnsets have been improved on almost every Pokemon, accordingly to later Generations (GSC) to balance the difficulty of the game. Said so, some Pokemon like Pikachu/Raichu or Psyduck/Golduck would eventually learn an event move.
  • The Type effectiveness chart remains the same with the introduction of the next match ups:
    GhostIC.gif
    vs
    PsychicIC.gif
    = 2x

    IceIC.gif
    vs
    FireIC.gif
    = 0,5x

    DragonIC.gif
    vs
    PoisonIC.gif
    = 0,5x
  • Introduction of 11 new moves (6 already existing in later generations). CHECK README.TXT FOR MORE DETAILED INFO
  • Trading Evolutions can be obatined via level.
  • All the ingame trades have been changed.
  • Pokemart items have been changed.
  • Some moves from TMs have been replaced by useful moves.
  • A few NPC's quotes have been edited. They'll give usefull tips to the player through the game. Listen them.
  • Pokemon Levels and Location have been changed. No changes for Legendaries.
  • Pokemon, Level and Movepool from Rival, Gym Leaders and E4 have been improved.
  • Party Pokemon of Gym Leaders and Elite Four have been increased to 6. Rival will eventually have Pokemon +1 than normally does.
  • The IVs from all Trainers and their Pokemon have been increased.
  • Some Pokemon, Level and Movepool from Trainers (e.g. Youngster, Bugcatcher, etc) has been improved as well.
  • Some Pokemon's Base Stats have been improved.
  • The type combination only of two Pokemon have been changed/improved. CHECK README.TXT FOR MORE DETAILED INFO.
  • Some evolution levels have been changed.

Progress:
  • Title Screen: 100%
  • Moves: 80%
  • Learnsets: 100%
  • Wild Pokemon: 70%
  • Map Layout: 100%
  • Pokemarts: 100%
  • Rival/Gym Leaders/E4 Pokemon Data: 80%
  • Rival/Gym Leaders/E4 Movepool Data: 70%
  • Trainer's Pokemon and Movepool Data: 50%

Tools used:
  • Brainstorm.
  • Pokered disassembly as guide.
  • Gold Finger.
  • RBY Pokemon Wild Editor.
  • RBY Mart Editor (Buggy sometimes. Work better with Gold Finger).
  • Pikamap.
  • Tile Layer Pro.
  • Paint.NET.
  • Tile Molester.
  • Woodpression.
  • GameBoy Assembly Editor.

Known bugs/inconsistencies: UPDATED: 27/08/2015
  • For some reason (already checked and re-cheked for inconsistencies with Gold finger but nothing), enemy GOLBATS that go under the effect of THUNDER WAVE will change two of their moves into COMET PUNCH and FIRE PUNCH. This bug doesn't happen everytime. I've been tested it and it occurs sometimes. I don't know when it could happen, I'm just warning. However, it doesn't affect the whole game and its development at all. (To be fixed) 06/07/15

Main updates: (Beta 0.5) - 12 / 12 / 17

  • A few more graphic improvements.
  • Useless mazes in Mt. Moon, SS. Anne, Rocket Hideout and Silp Co. have been removed. In the last two, there's still the puzzle but it isn't frustrating to pass through anymore.
  • Some text from NPCs and signs have been improved in grammar and syntax terms. At least, I try to do this always.
  • Many Pokemon have better stats and stat spread.

Ok. Thanks. I've got a question: Can I embed a video of the gameplay? The one that's in the thread.

Yeah, you can, just put the "code" of the youtube video in

It looks pretty okay. I don't really get why Cut is a bug-type move though lol

I don't know if you play 1st Gen competitively but Cut being bug type changes completely the metagame. Pokes like Scyther and Pinsir (due to STAB) can be very powerful in the OU enviroment, and not only them; all those Pokes who learns Cut can inflict very good damage to psychics/poison/grass.

Question!!!

Has the Gen 2 balancing been implemented in this?
As in:
Bug (1/2x) Poison
Poison (1x) Bug
Ghost (2x) Psychic
Ice (1/2x) Fire

If not, then you better add more Bug moves!

Hi. No, I haven't changed the type match-ups at all :) Originally, the game was only made to buff a few attacks (all those stated in the list) for wi-fi battles, but then my friend pushed me to make a complete hack and I liked pretty much the idea.

I haven't added any other bug type move and to be honest, even in Gen 2 there weren't poweful bug type moves as well. Instead, some bug type moves have been improoved like Leech Life and Vicegrip.

Waiting on the next Shiny Gold update...

Ok, then.

All we really need are a dragon move or two, then.

Fun Fact: Although Dragon (2x) Dragon in Gen 1, there was only one Dragon Type move (Dragon Rage) , and it did a fixed amount of damage, so the typing was obsolete.

Hey, pro tip: Don't make every freakin' route and town a confusing maze!
To be honest, I gave up at Viridian Forest.

Allright. I think I'll improove dragon moves in my next hack idea :)

Haha, ok man. Thanks for the feedback, I'll consider it. You're the second one who doesn't like those changes :)

I really like this hack so far, though I do have a suggestion;

While it is neat to make the Rival battle mandatory to continue into viridian forest, it makes it very inconvenient to go between the forest and pokemon center. While I get this is a difficulty hack as well, I'd suggest making it more convenient to go back and forth between routes and the pokemon center, in the first couple of towns, at least. Since the first few towns are the most essential to starting off your team.

Important update - 16/03/14 (Beta 0.2) - 24 / 12 / 14

The update consists in the next features:

  • Added a Teaser Trailer at the top of the thread.
  • Check the Main List of updates previous to the 'Videos' section.
  • Strenght has a new type and new seccondary effect (Check README, PLS.txt).
  • The map layout from some cities and routes have been slightly reworked.
  • Only the Super Rod can be obtained. Fishing areas have been reworked and improoved.
  • Now, the Poke Flute is needed to go at CELADON GYM.
  • Many NPC's quotes and signs have been edited yet.
  • Erika's Pokemon team have been improoved a bit. She's not so easy to beat anymore due to her previously pure Grass-type team. Same issue with Blaine.
  • No bugs have been reported anymore. The game seems to be very stable atm.
  • If I remember something more, I'll type here ASAP. LOL

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Thanks you so much!
I am asking If you could do this:
*adding something even more enjoyable in the game? some an expected events?
*Add new Cities(towns) to the map and/or improving the cities and Its people?
*Fixing Back sprits, because they are a joke LOL!

I love the first Gen games, ESPECIALLY YELLOW! Thank you :)

Looks nice! I do have a bit of a soft spot for Generation I (and II) hacks, so I'll be sure to give this a try.

In the new item data base (Beta 0.2), PP UP should cost 10000 pokedollars. It cannot be bought anywhere; the resale should be 5000 pokedollars (like NUGGETs), but for some reason, it's the only item that the game haven't edited the price correctly at all. I don't know the origin fo this fact. Permanent inconsistency. However, it doesn't affect the game on it's complex. (Not fixed/W.I.P.) 13/06/14

This might be because there are actually two PP Up items in the game's coding, but only one of them works properly:

False PP Up (32) - For unknown reasons, there are two PP Up items stored in the game, 32 and 4F. 32 is a fake PP Up which cannot be used (attempting to use it will bring up Professor Oak's unusable message). It can, however, be sold at a PokéMart for 4900 Pokédollars or purchased for 9800 Pokédollars if hacked into a PokéMart listing. Amusingly, the real PP Up has no value and can only be purchased/sold for 0 Pokédollars.

Thanks for the feedback! Well, I'm still a beginner at romhacking. The main reason I doubt I could do such things is due to the fact I'm working with Yellow, which means that there's no really documentation anywhere. I'm using Pokered disassembly as a guide but for god's sake it's different I swear xD Many times I'm having difficulty editing stuff to my hack but thankfully I'm doing well so far. I'll let you know if I manage to do something more.

Holy crap man! Thanks, but thanks you very much!! I managed to edit the real PP UP's price and now everything is OK, I did it in the last minute ahaha Anyway, I'll update the thread about some things that happened in the last 7 seven days.

Currently trying out Pokemon Strike without Stat EXP (just like in my most recent update of Blue Kaizo), sort-of like a "Hard Mode", with my restriction being never to use HP Ups or similar items.
