Arms of The GOD

Arceus is said to have created the universe with its thousand arms. Despite that, it has no visible arms on its body, and can't learn any punch- or arm- related move. So what happened to those arms? Why are they not visible and why can't it use them in battle? Any ideas? Please share them because I've been thinking about this for a long time.

Well, one possible answer is that Arceus has a second form with arms that we haven't seen yet that will appear in the inevitable DPPt remakes.

It could be a metaphor - ancient texts seem to just love those - or a reference to something else...perhaps its arms refer to its creations, such as Dialga, Palkia and so on? It could also have created psychic-energy arms or something...it's the God Of All That Is, after all. Omnipotence has to come with those kinds of perks.

Of course, Game Freak could also have realised this made noooo sense, because it's only referenced in Diamond's Pokedex entry for Arceus, IIRC.

You mean, it has a thousand creations, as powerful as Dialga or Palkia? Couldn't they unite and go against him and easily break all his plates and kill him. Maybe the psychic part is correct.

They don't have to be as powerful as Dialga and Palkia; every living thing shapes the world just be being a part of it, and we're not that far off 1000 different species of Pokemon now; I expect Sun and Moon will push us over 800 at least before we're done.

As for turning against him...well, it's certainly possible, but the general rule is not to create something more powerful than yourself. There is a difference between delegating responsibility and delegating power; surely Arceus IS Space and Time, and doesn't just control it the way Dialga and Palkia do. If it shaped the world, it must have shaped the concepts for the world, so all power would derive from it. Or something like that. God's greatest gift is often said to be free will, but I don't know about giving creations so much power they could easily overthrow him...

It is more likely a metaphor or a reference to some kind of psychic energy if it means anything, though.

A theory that I personally enjoy has the Unown being the manifestation of Arceus' thousand arms. Citing their appearance in HeartGold/SoulSilver when you use Arceus to conjure a member of the Creation Trio and how the song that plays on the radio in the Ruins of Alph being the same melody of the Azure Flute.
