Time Capsules​

Sometimes in life, we lose a little bit of direction and need that extra push to get back on the right path. Sometimes, the past can hold a lot of value to someone's future.

For those who don't know, a Time Capsule is traditionally made (and buried) by someone who writes something for their future self or someone else to find later. Within the letter there is usually some sort of advice, encouragement, or just plain weirdness.

This letter is now up to you to write.

In this thread you will be able to write yourself a letter for the future, and all you have to do in order to create a Time Capsule is delete the letter soon after you post it. That's right! Go ahead and delete your post once you finish! But before you do that-- In your post, designate a date in the future that's at least a week away minimum, and 2 years maximum. Once that date arrives, a mod will reverse the delete on your post and reveal the letter you wrote. After the letter is revealed, we will message you and let you know so that you can see what your past self left behind!

You can make your capsule about whatever you want, btw. It doesn't have to be super serious, but if you want it to be serious that's awesome too.

Happy 18th birthday! You are officially legal now, do the things that you want, get arrested and watch porn legally... woo, i guess :P

Anyways, you may not remember this but today, as I am writing this, I should be studying for the History finals tomorrow... And as you know by then, I'm a procrastinator. Just remember that whatever happens, it's happening for a reason.

As for me, well, let's just say I'm stressed lmao x3 anyyyways good luck with your endeavors! By the time you read this, you should be either a grade A student, or the empress of PC ;)

Hey Bay,

So lately you've been negative on yourself on many things. You feel your writing isn't as good as the others because they get more noticed than you. Sometimes when someone gets more followers in Tumblr than you, you feel you have nothing interesting going on with you and that you're a robot-- you're not that picky on stuff going on in television shows and you rarely post social justice stuff. Or that your taste isn't good compared to what's popular on Tumblr, making you question should you continue with some of your shows or not.

As for real life stuff, a lot of your friends are already married, have kids, and made progress with their career paths while you feel stuck. You want to go out, but most of your friends are all over the world. Work, help pay bills and groceries are only things you've been doing lately while your sister is more sociable.

For a while you just don't feel like existing...

You'll probably still feel upset of all those things after opening this. Those feelings will probably never stop for a while. It's probably cliche to say that things will get better and I won't say that because it's hard to predict if there is really a light in the tunnel. I will say though that you do have people that appreciate you even if it feels like that's not the case. You're probably afraid to say these things to your friends as you don't want to be very negative all the time to them, but they really won't mind your rants. Really.

Hopefully those feelings will calm down a bit by the time you read this.

Dear me, this is hard. But, anyway, you should have released your game by the time this is opened up again. This is weird, I'm like talking to my ghost :p Best of luck to your studies, or whatever your endeavors is.

I hope you can overcome the emotional difficulties that are holding you back, and while the family is in the toughest of situations I know you have real fighting spirit and you can get back on your feet. Good luck and may you get over the barrier that lies ahead.

Yo future me,

So it's been a while huh. Are you still working at that donut place that you were working at? Maybe? No? Well if it's a no I hope that it's because you finally found what you wanted to do in life. But even if you haven't that's alright because you still liked yourself the way you were back when this post was made and so hopefully that means it's still true.

Though, I have a feeling you're still lazy. Can never get you away from that huh. Well future me i hope you're doing good because face it, you're almost 25 now ... not that is truly matters in the end.

Either way, hope you're still trying to enjoy life the best you can. :)

To myself in the future​

Hi there! It's already been 2 years since this letter is written. I know that you're probably going through a lot of hardships since the day this letter was written. Okay, first things first, before we begin this letter, I'll go ahead and say it.

Happy birthday, me.

It's your 21st birthday today, right? Man, how time flies. I remember when we were still 18, and was off to enter college. Remember those days when we were only a new student. It might seem years for you, but it's only been a year to me.

I've always wondered what I wanted to do in the future. My entire life has me wander aimlessly without a clue. There are so many things I wanted to do, and yet I couldn't. Honestly, I still feel like I was forced here and I don't really want to continue anymore. However, every major has their upsides and downsides. It won't always go your way. Because of that I continued to pursue this major.

But is it really the right thing to do?

And so I turn to you, future me. What are you doing right now? Are you going to enter your final year at college? Or have you restarted at a new major, in another university? Is your goal finally clear to you? Have you finally found your purpose in life? And most important: Are you happy on what you're currently doing?

I want you to reflect on yourself. Tell me that you're finally happy in what you're pursuing. Don't force yourself to do what everyone expects you to do. It'll only bring you constant depression. Mom always says not to get too stressed at everything, but what could you expect from someone who is walking a path that they didn't want in life?

To myself in the future, I hope that you're finally happy on the path you chose for yourself. I'm sorry that I was an idiot, and for being unable to stand up for myself back then. However, the past is in the past, and it is why you're currently here today. Please don't dwell in the past, stop having regrets from 3 years ago. I don't want to see myself constantly hiding my tears from others.

To myself in the future... You're amazing for living this far in life.

But for serious, well kinda, happy birthday! 20 already, two decades, it seems so far away at this point. I really wonder how much you've changed, it's hard to tell at this point. :P Maybe you want to take some time to reread some of your old posts and compare the forum activity at the time and see how much your writing style has changed.

I hope life's getting well with everything, or at least better than at this point. Right now life gives much struggles, but they're probably just temporary. I'll get over it, at least I hope so.

Alright Aiden...

You made it! End of the project, now you can sit back and not worry too much now! Try and learn a little over summer though yeah? You owe it to yourself to actually get somewhere, so put the effort in and it will definitely be worth it. And don't listen to those who moan about this, it really is a great opportunity, and not nearly as bad as they're saying. You know this, keep your head high and swim above the negativity.

Keep working on your art. One day, you could end up where you want to be, so don't lose sight of that goal, and don't let anything stop you pursuing it! You really can do some amazing stuff, build on what you know and the sky's the limit. Just keep practising.

Don't forget about your friends... They need you too. They may not seem like it, but I'm sure they do. You keep an eye on them, and try and integrate yourself more. You need it too, even though you don't want to admit it, I'm sure. Just talk to them. They'll be happy to see you!

Finally, try and get along with Cerys. Yes, she's annoying, but she IS your sister. You give her too much of a hard time sometimes. After all, you know what she's going through... Sort of.

You're doing fine. Keep at it, else you'll lose all you have. You got this!

Stop stressing over your convention. You have fun every single year, so there's no reason to do that. You'll have just as much fun as you do any other time you've gone. Don't worry about what will or won't happen. Everything will be okay, and if it's not... you will work through it like you always do.
