Hey all, just joined these forums after my brother recommended it.

First post, but I am going to do a solo run of Red with Venusaur. Not too original I know, but then I don't have to hack for a starter.

So, I am finished. I have to say, Venusaur is rather HAX with 100% critical Razor Leaf. Kinda makes up for the fact that there is no grass move on par with Thunder/Hydro Pump/Blizzard etc. but still is way OP. I'm probably going to replay either Yellow or LG with a different starter for Gen I, as this was pretty easy.

Final Update, Sliph Co. - Earth Badge

We last met when I was about to tackle Saffron City. I grab a few Fresh Waters and Lemonades from the Celadon Dept. Store vending machines and head out to the guard post outside of Saffron City. I stroll in, hand over a drink to the very thirsty guard, who proceeds to allow me entry into the city. I run up to the gym to claim my sixth badge, but there is a suspiciously familiar man standing in front of the door, blocking my way! Damn Team Rocket and their stupid plans for world domination...

Next, I head next door to find a few trainers and a Master of the fighting-type. His pathetic Hitmonchan/Lee are no match for my OP Razor Leaf attacks, and go down with a whimper. I claim my prize, Hitmonlee, which I name Scrappy, and subsequently deposit into the PC in the nearby Pokemon Center.

I wander around town, pick up a TM from a guy who seems rather in a hurry to get rid of it (bad luck for him, good luck for I). Bubba can't use it though :(
Finally I come across a TR member standing outside a building, and take a look inside. It turns out that Sliph Co. has been taken over by Team Rocket. Bah! 20+ battles later (with multiple heals on the ninth floor for PP restore), I make my way to the Executive office. And of course, ASH (My rival) is waiting there for me...seriously? Go kick Giovanni's ass first before dealing with me, c'mon...

So, after whooping him (Streak of OHkOs is getting insane by now) he runs off to god knows where to train more, and I get a shiny new Lapras from the guy watching the battle (Does anyone here care that a criminal organization has taken over the building?) which ends up as my Strength/Surf HM slave. I jaunt on over to the CEO's room, interrupt their "meeting" and Giovanni challenges me to a battle. With an Onix/Rhyhorn he ain't gonna do much against Bubba. 4 OHkOs later, I claim a Sliph Scope and Master Ball.

I seem to be getting a bit wordy, but that is my favorite part in all of Gen I. After that battle, I head out to Lavender Town, grab the Poke Flute and kill Snorlax on the way to Fuchsia City, defeat Koga, then Sabrina, and grab Surf/Strength along the way. At this point, I am still one-shotting everything with Body Slam or Razor Leaf. After Surfing down to Cinnabar Island, I explore the Pokemon Mansion (The notes there are pretty cool for a side story. Brings back fond memories of going to see the first Pokemon Movie in theaters :D) and grab the key to the Gym in the basement.

This Gym is easy, as most fire-types used are non-evolved here (Lots of this in R/B unfortunately) even Blaine has a Ponyta and Growlithe. All died to critical Razor Leaf and/or Body Slam (for evolved forms).

After claiming my seventh badge, I fly back to Viridian for a battle with the unknown leader. This is by far my favorite Gym (Love the spinning, spinning, spinning...) but as Bubba has a huge type advantage, it was cake to breeze through this. Off to Victory Road!

Final Update Pt. 2, Victory Road and E4

I run over to start my journey to Victory Road, when ASH appears for a final test before the Elite Four. Body Slam/Razor Leaf omnomnomnomnom...you know the story. The original Victory Road is the coolest dungeon out of all the games, mostly because of Moltres hanging out here. The legendary bird nets a cool 1550 exp for my Bubba. Funny story here though. I ran out of PP for all my moves about halfway through the cave, and I wanted to save my Elixir for the E4. I killed the rest of the trainers AND Moltres with Struggle (lol). Fortunately, Moltres didn't have any good attacks other than Fire Spin (Which almost killed me anyways) and Bubba survived with a paltry 12/220+ HP left. Recoil damage is a *****.

After pushing boulders around for a while, Lapras got tired so I put him and Dux in my PC to prepare for the Elite Four! Bubba was L72 at this point, but Lorelei is a pushover, as all but 1 of her pokemon are water type (Jynx still got OHkO'd with Razor Leaf though :p). Bruno was cake too, with 2 Onix and the rest have low Special. Agatha was a little tricky, as I have no move that normally affects ghost/poison types. Sleep Powder owned Gengar/Gengar. Haunter got off a L55 Night Shade, but that was it for damage really. I used almost all of my Razor Leaf PP on this fight alone, so I used my lone Max Ether to boost it to max before Lance.

Lance was easy too, even a Hyper Beam from Gyrados/Aerodactyl wasn't enough to seriously damage Bubba, at L79 now, due to a few extra Rare Candy I had lying around. Gyrados - Body Slamx2, Dragonairx2 - Razor Leaf/Body Slam, Aerodactyl - Razor Leafx2, and Dragonite - Body Slamx2. Lance Defeated!

Oh, woe is me, I was here too late! ASH got here first and defeated them already (not that I am surprised, E4 is weak in Gen I) So now it's time to whip that pretty boy for the last time. I don't think he can accept that one OP Pokemon is better than 6 awesome ones.

To make a short story even shorter, L79-L80 Bubba pwned his team and earned a rightful place in the Hall of Fame.

All right, so I have started the Johto leg of my Ultimate Solo Challenge with my Growlithe/Arcanine named Fireheart using SoulSilver.

Started the game, named myself Cyrus again
Chose Totodile for HM slavability, named him Croc
Went to Mr. POkemon's house while running away from every wild encounter
Got the Mystery Egg and a Pokedex
On my way back to New Bark Town, fought my rival who I later named Zane again, beat Chikorita with my L5 Croc, Croc leveled up
Delivered the Mystery Egg, got some Poke balls from Lyra, and caught a Hoothoot named Winger.
On Mountain Road, caught a Geodude named Mack.
Caught a Rattata as trade bait
In Cherrytown, hack traded a Growlithe egg for Rattata
Hatched Growlithe, named it Fireheart
Fought a few wild pokemon and leveled Fireheart up to L4.
Battled a couple trainers, Fireheart now at L5.

I hacked in Ponyta at the beginning and caught it at level 2 (Only knew Ember, and of course no new moves after that until level 30) But, here's the deets:

Ok, here's update on my Ultimate Solo Arcanine run, now on SS. Done quite a bit since last time.

Got to Violet City, destroyed Sprout Tower.
Battled Faulkner. Fireheart was underleveled so it took a couple potions before Pidgeotto finally went down.
Got Rock Smash, taught it to Mack.
Battled through Union Cave to Azalea Town.
Cleaned up Slowpoke Well of Team Rocket, crushed Bugsy with Fireheart.
Firheart handled Zane as well.
Got Cut in Ilex Forest, taught it to Croc.
Reached Goldenrod, battled the underground, got a Radio Card.
Battled Whitney. It took a couple Super Potions and a couple resets since Attract kept immobilizing Fireheart. Finally started hitting with Flame Wheel and was able to take Miltank down. I ended up switching him out and fainting my other Pokemon healing Fireheart while Miltank was using Rollout, and Miltank did not use Attract again for some reason.

Saved the game after beating Whitney, am on my way to National Park and Ecruteak City.

I started solo running a couple of days ago with a growlithe I named Scrap on Soul Silver
I traded him in as an egg and, unfortunately, the person who traded him to me used a parent with HM Strength, but I'm dealin with it. Been using Togepi as an HM slave.
At this point I've gotten to Goldenrod and lost to Whitney's Miltank once. Gonna challenge her again at some point today.

Heheh, I know the feeling. Fireheart was at L30 when I faced Morty, and I got lucky the second time when Gengar used Mean Look, Fireheart used Bite, then Gengar missed with Hypnosis and Fireheart got the second Bite for the KO. No Shadow Ball = win. You'll eventually get through it, but Chuck is just as difficult with DT/Focus Punch/Rock Slide Primeape and Poliwrath with Hypnosis/Surf/Focus Punch. Good luck!

And now, on to my own Ultimate Solo run with Growlithe/Arcanine named Fireheart, currently on SoulSilver. Lots of stuff happened since last time. I'm currently waiting till this afternoon (Wed) for Schoolboy Alan to call me so I can get a Fire Stone to evolve Fireheart into Arcanine.

On the way to Ecruteak, picked up the free Spearow named Kenya because I forgot I had already caught a Hoothoot named Winger lol.
So I got to Ecruteak City, fought Zane in the Burned Tower, released the beasts.
Got surf from the weird old guy after "saving" the Kimono Girl in the Dance Theatre.
Challenged the Ecruteak Gym, lost once to Morty, then was able to beat Morty due to Gengar not using Shadow Ball (Gengar at L25 outspeeds Fireheart at L30).
Went east and got Strength from the Hiker, taught it to Mack.
Went down to Olivine, fought my way up the Lighthouse and talked to Jasmine.
Surfed to Cianwood, picked up the SecretPotion and challenged the Cianwood Gym to get Fly.
Chuck was a nightmare. I lost a couple times before I was able to put down Primape with taking damage by hitting through DT, then went ahead and used Mack as a revive sacrifice after Poliwrath killed Fireheart and Croc as a heal sacrifice, then threw Fireheart back out there and prayed Poliwrath wouldn't use Surf. He didn't, and Intimidite helped bring down Focus Punch's power when I used a full heal after Hypnosis hit once. Fireheart was able to get a flinch off of Headbutt before the final Headbutt killed Poliwrath, and it was finally over. Just a total nightmare.
Got fly, taught it to Kenya, and went back to Olivine.
Gave the SecretPotion to Ampharos, then destroyed Jasmine with Flamethrower.
Went to Mahogany Town from Ecruteak after a quick exploration of Mt. Mortar and also encountering Suicine.
At Mahogany Town, went north to the Lake of Rage, killed Gyarados, talked to Lance.
Back in Mahogany Town, found the Hideout and cleared it out very easily, as Fireheart was about 10-20 levels above pretty much everyone.
Challenged the Gym, destroyed Pryce with Flamethrower.
After a call from Prof. Elm, went back to Goldenrod to stop TR once and for all.
After a long grindfest and one Zane beatdown later, Team Rocket was disbanded again. Seriously though, why not evolve that Koffing, Archer?

Isn't TR supposed to be loaded? I've gotten more money from random trainers lol.

Now that Fireheart has learned all the moves I want him to learn as Growlithe, it's time to evolve him to Arcanine and find a Heart Scale to teach it ExtremeSpeed. I do need a Fire Stone too, as I mentioned above. I am saved just outside Mahogany Town, but I'm not going to go any further until I get that Fire Stone.

Went off on My way to Olivine grabbing trainer XP on the way
Restored a Miltank to Full Health haha..
Trained at the Lighthouse Tower
Got Back from the Tower with Scrap at Lv 33!
Rode ma Bicycle back to uh... Morty's haha..
Lost... (How does Gengar still attack first!!)
Then Won!! (Gengar= Mean Look + Failed Hypnosis)
Grabbed Marla and headed down to Azelea Town
Picked up some of Kurt's balls
Caught a Slowpoke, named it Tim, and taught it Surf
Took Union Cave back to Violet City
Ran into Entei surfing near Violet.. I just wanted apricorns...
Made my way back to Olivine where I stocked up on Super Potions and Super Repels (I hate Tenta-anythingss..)

Okay, time for an update! It took a while but I got a Fire Stone from Alan and used it right away! Arcanine FTW! Probably my favorite Pokemon, with Staraptor a close second lol.
