Official PokéCommunity Adoption Center
From here on out, The Official PokeCommunity Adoption Center shall be closed until further notice.

To put it simply, the New Users / Welcome moderators think that closing the thread for a few months is for the best. Some problems that have been brought to the surface are really hampering on the joint effort. Sure, this joint effort was something that every mentor has contributed upon, to a moderate, yet commendable, amount of success. <3 But the problems were still there.

First off, some mentees still think that the program is for helping them out with matters not covered by the Adoption Center. Asking for competitive battling help, breeding and IV help, or seeking aid on technical matters about the Pokémon games— these are just part of the problem, because mentees still tend to bring up queries solely related to their personal projects such as art, hacks, etc. rather than the forum, despite what is indicated in the first post. That's not how the mentorship works; we're here to help you get used to sections within the forum, not to act as a walking Bulbapedia / Serebii / Google / Emulation subforum. It might be an honest mistake, but it can really test the mentor's patience if you put things in perspective. It's stressful enough that you have a busy schedule and things to do, but having a mentee that mistakes the program for a way to help them with matters unrelated to the forum might just push you over the edge.

Another problem was that more often than not, mentees fail to stay active enough after a couple of days into the program. Not understanding how mentorship works is one thing, but taking up a mentorship slot without staying active is another. Sure, new members rarely stick around, but if you plan on getting adopted, staying active should come with it. :< Some do stick around, but they rarely ask questions, so the point becomes moot real quick. Ask questions! Be inquisitive and ready to learn, because mentors won't know which areas you need help with unless you tell them yourself. Also, I noticed that some members, to the point of inactivity, become really scared of posting around when they get taken under someone's wing. But guys, this is just a forum! Don't be afraid to make mistakes, because if you're trying your best to follow the rules and not offend anyone, then minor flubs shouldn't intimidate you from posting around. If you get corrected, like if your post gets deleted or your thread is closed, then don't take it too personally. :( People are just trying to make the experience for everyone a little more streamlined, and more importantly, these same people only tell you that "Hey, you made a mistake," to learn from it. To grow. Not to generate flames. But I digress.

In the end, the Adoption Center has just been really stressful to handle for everyone. Some mentees don't benefit a lot from it for reasons stated above. Mentors have expressed concern that it gets bothersome once in a while, too. And really, we'd be lying if we didn't say that it gets incredibly stressful to manage, a sentiment that Cirno has had especially, because she's been handling this thread on her own for almost half a year now. Just imagine how much stuff she had to deal with. It's something I can't even fathom.
Now, does this mean that mentees get dropped off in the middle of the PC desert, left alone to fend for themselves? Of course not. Despite all this, current mentors and their respective mentees are still encouraged to continue with the mentorship like before. It's just that no new mentees will be accepted from now on, until the Adoption Center is ready to reopen. I'm sorry if you're a new mentee or a new mentor and wasn't able to experience the program to the fullest. It's gonna be a long wait until the Adoption Center reopens, but I hope that you can still go on with your daily lives despite that.

That being said, it's time to bid farewell. ;~; If you're a new member, you should never forget that it doesn't hurt to ask for help from fellow members or staff if you ask knowingly and kindly. Help comes in many shapes and sizes, and even if the Adoption Center temporarily removes itself from those options, I know that you can still make it through those newbie stages if you try. I was here before the Adoption Center even existed, along with countless others, so I suppose we can attest to that.

I wish you luck. I know that you'll get through that. Look out into the sea.
Until the Adoption Center comes back, keep on keeping on.

- Cid

Mentor List

Mentor List

Spoiler:
Spoiler:

The above is a list of all the mentors you can choose from! Keep in mind that some mentors have a bold red unavailable sign next to their name, meaning you cannot apply to take them until they return back to mentorship.

We have a mentor in almost every section, so you'll definitely find the one you like most~!

Mentors

So, you're interested in becoming a mentor? This position definitely requires reliability and eagerness to teach your mentee! The mentor positions are only given to those we feel are active and know their sections well enough to teach a new user about them.

We are looking for mentors in the following areas: Emulation, Pokemon Anime, Trade Corner, Battle Center.

You may be placed on the waiting list if you are applying for other areas. We'll only consider those who are applying for the sections currently in high demand (listed above).

Requirements for becoming a mentor:
1) Little to no infractions (old infractions will be investigated)
2) Active for more than three months (90 days from your actual join date)
3) Prove your activity by posting at least once every two days (we will see your statistics for this)

So, do you qualify? If so, then fill out the application (located below). All fields are required! Once you have finished, send it via PM to Cirno and Cid. Please do not post it here!

And finally, onto the mentor application form:

Spoiler:

Note: By submitting this application, you understand that the positions are limited in scope and you may be put on a waiting list. You also agree that becoming a mentor is up to PC Staff discretion, and that you may also be removed at any time if you are deemed either inactive or unsupportive in your role.

You have to fill out the application form, which is written in the first post. :3
1. What section/board are you most interested in? Hm, I'm really interested in mapping, but here on PC i want to explore and know everything :D

2. What other section/board do you want to learn more about? I'm also interested in battling, I'm quite good at pokemon battle strategies, but I don't know about connection between players etc.

3. Are there any specific things you like to do while you're here? I want to join some game hackers team, learn how to & make some great hacks.

Is that ok?:D

I'm a little confused by your form; it sounds like you're interested in a global mentor to show you around the whole site, but you mostly talk about ROM Hacking, so would you prefer a global mentor or one that focuses on Emulation? ^_^

Just remember Emulation mentors can't help you make your hack. They're here to show you around the Emulation section of the forum and not assist you with projects or anything haha.

I know they can't. First of all, I want to learn more about ROM hacking, and then join some team, and create one. I'm looking for mentor who will show me a lot about PC, and then I will just ask for information/help in ROM hacking.

Then a global mentor might be for you! We have Kura currently available for that, if you'd be interested. (:

We've got PkMn Trainer Yellow and Miss Doronjo for Roleplay Corner, as well as donavannj for Pokemon TCG, since those seem to be your main choices. :3 Which of the three would you prefer?

Do you mean TCG battling via Skype? We have donavannj as a mentor for the Trading Card Game section but that's for the card section in general, not battling over Skype. I'm not sure if he'd be able to do that. D:

Hello! I would like to meet new people and be more involved in the community. Here is my form:

1. What section/board are you most interested in?
BW2 with focus on trading. I do not have many irl friends still into pokemon. I would like to be able to participate in fun trading as well as trade based evolutions. I like battling too but do not feel as skilled in regards to ev training and the like, so at present I would just like to bolster my roster to make it through bw2's story. I also could use some help getting my old pokemon from 4th gen onto bw2. If I could somehow consolidate them, that would be amazing.

2. What other sections/boards do you want to venture in and and learn more about?
If there is a section that deals with designing original pokemon style rpgs and the like, I would be interested in that. I started writing a 16-bit Chrono Trigger style rpg and in terms of world map design, levels and dungeons, would love for it to be like pkmn. I don't know anything about programming. I don't create sprites- but I do draw cartoons! I am a comedy writer, but I love games. I know a lot of the tropes and think I could design a good one. My dream is to someday release one so people can play it on their mobile devices! I would need a lot of help, and could probably benefit from skilled coders telling me what not to do before I leave the dialog-writing stage. If anyone ever needs help writing funny or interesting dialog, that is where my background is, so I would love to help in that way!

3. Are there any specific things you like to do while you're here?
I like to view threads on specific questions I have, as I still have a lot to learn.

Hello I just joined Im still a little confused on this mentor stuff so go easy on me XD!

1. What section/board are you most interested in?

Well I am interested in all the boards because I would like to get to know the whole forum/site so I may help people in the future if need be ^^! And so I know what things are and know where to post certain things. But I do really love Role play x3! So I might take a little more interest in that x3!

2. What other sections/boards do you want to venture in and and learn more about?

Well like I said in the above answer I would like to know more about all of them if possible x3! I would just like a general understanding of all ^^. Well except introductions I know that XD!

3. Are there any specific things you like to do while you're here?

Oh yes there is ^^! I would really love to make some nice poke friends to play the game with as well as chat in here and have a good time ^^! I would also like to help people later whenever I get a good understanding of how things work around here! And I also would love to participate in the role plays if they are to my liking ^^!

I like to view threads on specific questions I have, as I still have a lot to learn.

We've got Jellicent♀ available for Black 2 and White 2 as well as Livewire and TwilightBlade for Trade Corner. I'm not sure if any of the three have access to WiFi to trade, though. But it seems like you're more or less looking for a trading buddy, so your best bet might be to look around in the Trade Corner. D: Mentors are here to teach you about sections of the forum rather than help you trade your Pokemon around, sadly. But if you do want a mentor to help show you around the sections you listed, just reply back!
