POKéMON- synchronicity
Rated T for probably something.
0 open spots.

They say that for every soul there is another
perfectly in sync.

Soulmates, they're called.

Be it friends, lovers, eniemies,
they are connected
by fate's chain.

- - THE STORY - -

In 24 hours exactly this year's Pokemon Grand Tournament, the most popular tournament in all of the Pokemon World, is going to begin. Every year thousands of people tune in to watch the three week long competition, with each year having a new location, new faces, and new rules. But this year you aren't watching. You are in the Pokemon Grand Tournament.

You just arrived at the stadium complex, on a island off the coast of the Sinnoh region, your three competing Pokemon with you, but very little else. Upon entering the island you were given a rulebook, and a pass for your room, but what interests you most right now is the complex itself. The building is amazing, a colossal stadium with four housing areas, one on each side, as well as a buildings for audience housing back away from the main. All around are people, be it competitors, viewers, performance acts, or vendors, and from the mouths of some come rumours about this year's ruleset.

Instead of one on one battles, trainers have been paired off into teams, even having to share a room for the next three weeks. It's a part of, this year's sponsor, the Veilstone Corporation's chosen theme: Legends of the Sinnoh Region. The teams are supposed to represent balance and the ability to work in perfect unison as the divine Pokemon of legend did.

You've got a lot ahead of you, even more than you think. In 24 hours the tournament is going to begin, and you and your partner are going to discover that you're more connected than just through being paired up at random. You are linked by fate.
You can communicate to each other with just a thought, and may even start to develop more powers as the bond between you and your partner grows.

But something is wrong here, and as the hours progress it will become more and more evident to you. But in order to solve this mystery and maybe even win the tournament you're going to have to work together with your partner and battle in perfect synchronicity.

- - TOURNAMENT RULEBOOK - -

You were given a small book of the tournament rules for this year, an explanation of everything you'll need to know for the next three weeks. It is as such:

Spoiler:

- - RP RULES AND MECHANICS - -

These are the actual rules that RPers must follow:

- - All PC rules apply. Every last one.
- - No god-modding.
- - Ask before bunnying.
- - You may write a joint post with your partner if you so choose.
- - Your partner will be random. However, you can request to change partners if you and your partner cannot RP together well. (Time zone problems, for example.)
- - You may break tournament rules IC if you discuss it with me first.
- - You may encounter Pokemon, but not catch them.
- - If you aren't sure about something ask me. I don't bite.
- - I'll make any important or disputed judgments. (outcome of matches, plot things, etc.)
- - Even if you lose in the tournament you can still be important to the plot.

My intentions are to sort everyone away into houses and pairs completely by random in order to make sure everything remains even. So I suppose if any decision I make is too offensive I can change it but be sure to tell me right away.

Also, although Arceus is supposed to be more powerful that the other three legendaries, they are being regarded as equal in this RP. So hopefully no-one will pitch a fit about Creation.

Placeholder, since it's 4am and I don't have the energy to write much. >.>; For the Pokemon moves, do you want four per Pokemon?

Name: Eria Estella
Age: 16
Date of Birth: October 31
Gender: Female
Hometown: Hearthome City, Sinnoh
Reason for Entering: Money

Appearance:
At 5'6", Eria looks anything but intimidating, as the sixteen year old is also extremely thin. She's still a healthy thin, mind you, but with her scrawny arms and legs, she isn't exactly going to turn the heads of any men. What she doesn't have in sex appeal, she unknowingly makes up in being adorable. With her back-lengthed, messy, two toned blue hair, and her wide, pink eyes, she seems almost like a child - and her actual vulnerability and lack of experience dealing with people totally helps.

The trainer's attire is a little unusual, but there have been worse dressed trainers out there. A black vest over top of a sleeveless, white blouse constitute the bulk of the upper portion of her outfit, a pink bow-tie tied around her neck. She'd look almost like a casino employee if not for the white, puffy disconnected sleeves that are tied from her elbow to her wrist. The lower half of her outfit begins with a layered skirt, the colours alternating black and white until it reached just above her knees and meets the black leggings she has wrapped around her legs. A pair of shiny black dress shoes protects her feet, each show complete with a white buckle and flower a top the front tip. To complete her outfit, a tiny, black top hat with a pink stripe around it sits on a leftwards angle on her head.

Her three Pokeballs attach to a specially made, black belt that sits around her waist, for easy access.

I drew a poor image of her face here (I know there's a lot wrong). I'm going to try and draw a better version, but that's that for the meantime.

History:
Born a frail individual, Eria Estella has an unfortunate history with illness due to her weak immune system and overall fragile physical form. She has spent most of her life under the watchful eyes of her mother - and in the worst of times, a doctor or two - with very little to keep her company aside from Pokemon her father brought her back from his travels around the world. As a child, this helped her develop a longing to see the world. Eria wanted to see beyond the borders of Ecruteak, and go on her own adventures, but her health would almost always interfere with such things.

It was around the age of twelve that she met a boy that would change things for her temporarily. He approached her one day at the academy she attended - a school where she had the reputation of "the Ethereal Girl" since she was rarely in class and was ignored as nasty rumors spread around about why she was always absent. It was a shock to her that anyone would even approach her at this point, let alone ask her what he did. "Would you like to go on a journey with me?". A simple question, one that gave Eria a glimpse of the freedom she so desperately sought. But she knew her parents would never allow it, so she did the unthinkably and ran away.

Her journey lasted about a year as the two of them traveled across Sinnoh at a leisurely pace as not to tire the girl any more than necessary. It was around the one-year mark, however, that her condition took a temporary turn for the worst. Returning home became mandatory, and the day she arrived back in Hearthome was the most embarrassing moment of her life. Forced to return to the arms she ran away from due to her own weakness. She couldn't understand why her condition never improved! Medical help was expensive, too, and there was no way for her parents to raise enough money to get her properly treated by a professional.

Three more years passed, 36 months of not being permitted to leave her hometown. After having experienced Sinnoh herself, it was a lot more painful to wait around all that time, and she had to satisfy her taste for adventure by listening to stories of trainers and other travelers that passed through her city. It was by ear that she heard rumors of the Pokemon Grand Tournament and the reward amount that could only be considered... copious. As the tournament took place on an island though, and there seemed to be strict rules in place about leaving, entering was going to be a huge risk. How would she attain the proper medical health she needed if things took a turn for the worst? On the other hand, if she could walk away with that money, she might never have to worry about such a scenario again.

For the second time in her life, Eria chose to run away from home, this time her destination being the tournament. In comparison to some of the other trainers that would surely be there, she was a bit of a greenhorn. But, she needed to have faith. Faith in herself and her Pokemon, her only friends.

@parallelzero: Four per Pokemon will do. I forgot to put that, so I'll add it to the first post now.

@RyanRoksXD: Why thank you~

Both of you are reserved. I'm going to give reservations five days for now, because I imagine there won't be much competition for spots with how many there are. I just don't want anyone reserving and then never coming back.

This sounds fun. I would very much love to reserve. I have to leave for work in a bit, so I'll just post a name, age, and names of Pokemon for now. I'll have the full form completed either tonight or tomorrow morning. :D I may change the character image as well. To clarify, yes she is a miko (shrine maiden).

Name: Amaterasu Aoi (For the sake of uniformity, presented in Western style, meaning her first name is listed before her last.)
Age: Seventeen
Date of Birth: November 17
Gender: Female
Hometown: Izumo Shrine, located in the mountains of Johto to the north of Ecruteak City.
Reason for Entering: Amaterasu has been experiencing strange dreams depicting a shadowy figure descending over site of the Grand Tournament. She believes a legendary Pokemon or some other deity is beckoning her to enter the tournament to stop this force.

I'll happily join this! Consider this my reservation, which I'll finish ASAP.

Name: Sidney "Sid" Ferguson
Age: 17
Date of Birth: September 21st
Gender: Male
Hometown: Cianwood City, Johto
Reason for Entering: Sid is a man of simple tastes and goals, a bit of extra cash in his wallet and the chance to say he won the Grand Tournament definitely sound good to him.

Appearance: Sid is about 5'9", and is quite the heavyset man, at 180 lbs. Once shouldn't just assume that this is fat though, as due to his lifestyle, quite a good bit of it is Muscle. His hair is straight and a dark brown, and has most of its length in the back. Going down to about the bottom of his neck. His hair also is quite unkempt at its ends, though mainly at the front. Sid's eyes are colored a steel grey, and give a cold feel to look into, though his personality is anything but. When it comes to clothing Sid dresses simply, and certainly looks the part which he acts. He wears a solid black t-shirt which usually has a bit of dirt on hit, or more likely is a little bit wet from training with is Pokemon. With this he usually is seen in a pair of dark blue Swimming trunks which are long enough to function as shorts when not in the water. On his hainds, Sid wear's a pair of crimson fingerless gloves the color of which match a headband that he usually wears around his head when on dry land. Around Sid's neck is a precious Sharktooth necklace he got back in Cianwood, always there to remind him of home.

History: Sid has always thought of himself, before anything else, as a Water Type Specialist. Even as a young boy, growing up on Cianwood Island Sid always had an affinity for water. His father worked as a Fisherman, and subsequent fish salesman, and his mother worked at the island's newly opened Safari Zone. Sid, liked to think that he worked at the Ocean, and as a little boy he would spend many days either with his dad fishing, or just out playing with other kids by the seaside. Like many younger kids, Sid dreamed of being a Pokemon trainer, but was one of the few with the audacity to possibly make it a reality. Begging his parents for a Pokemon, it was his mom who brought him back a Wooper from the Safari Zone, and his dad who taught him battling 101. With this, Sid and his Pokemon, whom he had named Tsunami, began to train in their spare time. Though at this period in his life his Parents possessed nowhere close to the amount of money needed to get him started as a trainer.

By age 13 though, certain events would give Sid the opportunity he dreamed of. He was already becoming a bit of a headstrong and rash teenager, and his tastes too were changing. Sid began to crave challenge and thrills, he combined his love of the sea with his hotheaded attitude and took up Surfing. He also battled everyone who we could in the city, though Chuck was way out of his league, Sid and Tsunami did become quite the battling duo, and the Wooper eventually evolved into Quagsire. However, Sid wanted to fight something that would provide some real thrills. Luckilly for him, his father came home one night with a crisis, the Best fishing spot off the coast had become occupying by a raging Gyarados. Sid, much to his Parent's fear and behest, offered to take the beast down himself. His dad refused to take him out there, and so Sid had to steal the boat early the next morning. When he rowed out, sure enough there was the Gyarados, and sure enough; it was angry. Sid and Tsunami battled the raging sea beast, which ended up smashing his father's boat in two, and nearly drowning Sid, but he and his Pokemon triumphed. Sid not only stopped the Gyarados, but rode back to Cianwood on its back, having captured it.

His Parents were furious that he put his life on the line so recklessly, but Sid didn't even care. It was the fight that he had craved for so long. The move also caught the eye of Chuck, who saw that Sid had potential as a trainer, and offered to help him get the registration done to become an official trainer. His Parent's, though worried now for the safety of their son, relented after his continual pestering, and let him go to travel Johto. On his last day at home, Sid bought a sharktooth necklace to remember the island by, and with that he and his two Pokemon were off. Still with a love of Water, Sid caught mainly water types, and made his goal to one day open up his own Water-Type gym, or even better, become a Water type member of the Elite Four. He with time, conquered the Gyms of Johto, and then set his sights on Kanto. Where he expanded his Roster further. It was here that Sid found out about the Grand tournament; deciding that it would be an excellent way to up the chances of reaching his dream. He sent off to register for it, packing with him the two Pokemon that had been at his side the longest, and very new addition to his team, ready to hopefully make a splash in the international battling atmosphere.

Ok here we go!

------------------------------------

Name: Cody Rhodes

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Hometown: Born in Nuvema Town, Unova, but grew up in Goldenrod City, Johto

Reason for Entering: The challenge

Appearance:
421430_10150870890342602_231173557_n.jpg

History:

Barely an hour after Cody was born, his father received a phone call from the Pokemon secret police for whom he had worked his entire life, this phone call was to inform him that he had been called upon by Lance, the champion of the Kanto region, personally, to work as a private member of police staff at the Kanto Hall Of Fame HQ at the Indigo Plateau. This job, although a supreme honour and a dream come true, meant that he would have to leave first thing the next morning to begin his new training. It also meant that he would have to live far away from his family's home in the Unova region, and would get very few opportunities to visit.

Cody's father did not want to leave at all, especially only 10 hours after the birth of his first child, but upon discussion with his wife, it was agreed that it was the best thing, after all; he had spent his entire life working for the police force, working his way up the ranks, and this was a fantastic opportunity, but not only that, his job was the only source of income the family had, and although he could get another job, it wouldn't be one that he felt would earn enough money to support his wife and newborn son, at least not for a time, and he wanted nothing more than to provide for his family.

Cody's father did not sleep all night, he remained with his wife who was exhausted and drifted off peacefully holding her child, staring at the two of them, trying to savour up each moment he would get with them before having to leave, the very last thing he did before leaving the house to catch the boat to Kanto, was to leave a single Pokeball in Cody's crib, before with a tear in his eye, whisking away into the still dark morning.

The next morning, Cody's mother placed him in his crib for the first time, not noticing the Pokeball; she set the baby monitor and went downstairs to start on her days chores. Cody rolled over and led on the Pokeball forcing it to open, and in a stream of blue light appeared...
A Pichu!

The Pichu still a baby itself was fascinated by the baby Cody, and Cody by it, and the two hit it off straight away. His mother could not take him more than 10 feet away from the pokemon without Cody screaming and crying, and therefore they became inseparable.
A year later, a disaster occurred...

Three bandits had attempted to break into the Kanto regions hall of fame in an attempt to steal valuable paintings, statues, and anything else they could get their hands on, and during the attempted robbery Cody's father was tragically killed, having not even had the chance to return home so see his wife and newborn son for a second time.

When Cody turned six years old, his mother received a letter from the Johto Pokemon Elite Trainers School stating that Lance, in honour of his father's bravery, had himself paid the incredible amount of money required to begin training there in the art of pokemon mastery on their very expensive elite course, for which rich children from all around the world had been sent. Cody's mother, knowing that her husband would have been proud for his son to attend the school, allowed Cody to go to the boarding school, but not being able to afford to move there herself, tearfully said goodbye to her son and his best friend Pichu as she took a ship to Johto, and made sure he was registered in.
During his time at the school, Cody showed an incredible natural talent for understanding and training pokemon. Every week the school would assign a new pokemon each student to train and work with, before taking it away and replacing it with another, they were all of course allowed one starting pokemon of which they kept, and although Cody was offered many times to switch his Pichu for one of the more traditional starting pokemon, he respectfully declined.

Cody's knack for understanding all pokemon, as well as training them individually, and memorising all their move sets, stats and other information was incredible. At age ten he was diagnosed by a doctor as having a rare type of psychological skill which on top of giving him an absolutely perfect photographic memory, allowed him to take in detail of anything he looked at within seconds, seeing not only the basic picture, but every element of it. This skill however had a price...

Absolute, social awkwardness.

His time at the school was a phenomenal experience, he loved working with so many pokemon, and couldn't soak up enough knowledge, but there were many setbacks. He was heavily bullied by other students, and this left him with very little confidence in himself. The only time Cody ever really thrived and forgot his insecurities was when battling, at which time he became as heroic and charismatic as any Pokemon master the world has ever known, but the second the battle was over, he became regular old douche bag Cody Rhodes...

Now 18 years of age, not much has changed, Cody is still as socially incompetent as ever, and has very little confidence in himself, constantly slouching, staring at the floor, afraid to make any sort of human contact, especially around girls, but his skills as a Pokémon trainer have reached extraordinary levels. In only two years after graduating the school at 16 years old, he defeated 7 of the gym leaders from each of the Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova regions. Why not the 8th? Nerves... Every time Cody reached badge number seven, his nerves would get the best of him and he would just move to a new region and start from scratch, therefore never fully qualifying for that regions pokemon league tournament.
As for the Kanto region, he stayed well away...

Cody is now entering the Pokemon Grand Tournament. He is determined to conquer his fear of failure, and believed this to be the best way to do it, the money is a bonus, as it would be of great help to his mother, but the biggest lure is the challenge. Some of the best pokemon trainers from around the world are gathering to compete, and maybe if he can beat his nerves and do well here, well then maybe, just maybe he can finally enter, and complete the Kanto Pokemon Gym Challenge, and ultimately, the league...

He has chosen the three pokemon that has served him the best over his two years on his adventure.

Here is my completed sign-up! Let me know if you'd like me to add or remove anything.
I will be buffing up History, because it seems rather short, so I will update that soon. c:

Name: Jess Long
Age: 18
Date of Birth: October 31st
Gender: Female
Hometown: Celadon City, Kanto
Reason for Entering: Just for the challenge.
Appearance: Jess stands at an above average height of 5' 9", and from far away, she just looks to be another face in the crowd – and that crowd is full of the millions wanting to become Pokemon Masters. But Jess's goals are… a bit different, and so is her appearance. Though she has the common shade of red-brown hair, there's a glow in those bright, almost abnormal yellow-green eyes of hers that suggests she is someone entirely different than who you may think she is. It doesn't mean that she has a manipulative nature, but she is very good at using her disadvantages to twist it to her advantage. She dresses in brightly colored tops, usually ranging in red, blue, and yellow, but also the secondary colors too. Because she is an artist, she loves the primary and secondary colors with red, blue, and purple coming out on top as her three favorite. Jess also uses her facial expressions to her advantage – she uses a lot of that to communicate with her Pokemon off the stadium. She gets a poker face expression through most of her matches, and hardly gets too over-confident. She has had her experiences, and her loses, with being too over-confident.

History: Jess hails from Celadon City in Kanto, adjusted well to city life. She grew up there ever since she could remember with her parents as well as her little brother. As the years progressed, even though she wanted to pursue an art career, even as a ten-year-old, she also knew she wanted to become a Pokemon trainer. So, that was what she decided. She set out to become a Pokemon Master. Her parents, powerful and rich, gifted her with three Pokemon that Jess has always loved, even as a baby – a Squirtle, a Chimchar, and a Cranidos (which happened to be a shiny Cranidos by mistake but still kept by the family). She nicknamed them Shellshock, Blade, and Alaric. She got her Pokemon license, and set out to compete in the Indigo Plateau challenge, and during that time she wanted to catch as many Pokemon as she could.

After collecting the eight badges of Kanto, Jess decided not to enter the Indigo Plateau at that time and traveled to enter the Johto League. Collecting new Pokemon and new badges, Jess quickly breezed through the league before making it to Mt. Silver. There, she decided to enter the Silver Conference, and wrestled into first after a long and heart-wretching match with powerful trainers. But even thought she won, Jess didn't want to end there - she traveled through Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova, competing in their leagues but not competing in the final championship. Seeing the Silver Conference made Jess want to strive to train, train, train, and only when she believed he was ready would she enter again.

During those eight years, Jess has traveled across not only Kanto but also Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova; and during that time she has strengthened her team and capturing new Pokemon (that currently reside at her parents' residence in Celadon City). During that time her first three partners had evolved. Squirtle became a Blastoise, Chimchar became a Infernape, and Cranidos became a Rampardos. She never stayed in one place for long – always out and trying new things, capturing new Pokemon, and challenging new gyms. But now, she wanted to try something different. This time, she wanted to get into the Pokemon Grand Tournament. And she did. She was luckily one of the twelve to be permitted in. She chose her first three partners who stood with her since the beginning – Alaric, Blade, and Shellshock. She thinks of all of them as family, and they think the same, and they will all be equal.

@SwiftSign: You are reserved. You may use Egg Moves and TM Moves, although I'd prefer if you didn't go too overboard with them.

@Royal: Oh, I like your SU quite a bit, especially in the way you conveyed her personality through her appearance. You are accepted. It would certainly be nice if you could expand a bit on the history like you said, though.

Hope this is ok! >:3

Name: Alex Hall
Age: 17
Date of Birth: 19th January
Gender: Male
Hometown: Snowpoint City, Sinnoh
Reason for Entering: The money (and a good excuse to get away from boring daily life).

Appearance: Alex has deep red hair. When left unkept it covers his deep, blue eyes, however he much prefers to wear it up – held in place by his father's black bandana, which in turn exposes his lucky earring. His skin is similar to his mother's pale complexion, whose skin colour is typical for the residents of Snowpoint City. More used to colder conditions, Alex is often found in layers – a red scarf and a fitted blue and white jacket. Even in the warmer towns he refuses to sacrifice his style.
History: In his childhood, Alex was raised in Snowpoint City, by both his parents. For most of his life this was the norm, with little change in his routine, friends or family. However, following his parents' marriage breaking down he now lives with just his father, who runs a delivery business. Alex rarely sees his mother any more, and spends most of his time tending to the mail-Pidgeys of his Dad's business.

As the breakup progresses his father became more and more distant, leading to both him and Alex being isolated – despite living in the same house. Alex ended up fending for himself; cooking, cleaning and maintaining the house in his absence, whilst actively avoiding him when he was home. Longing to get away, and make his own life and world separate of his parents' mistakes, Alex became interested in Pokémon training. At first he only battled with the bird Pokémon at his work - but the battles were never serious, as he couldn't afford for the delivery birds to get injured. Eventually he started training out of town, taking his favourite Pidgey, Squirt, with him. Squirt and Alex became quite a pair, battling and battling until they both became quite adept.

As his talents grew, Alex thought about challenging the Sinnoh Gym Leaders. Foolishly he first fought with his local leader Candice - she proved far too skilled, taking out Squirt with a few powerful ice attacks. Alex realised that in order to become a better trainer he couldn't just rely on one Pokémon, and soon caught a Meditite on route 217. Encouraged by the fierce rivalry between little Squirt and Alex's new Pokémon, training sped up and the young Pidgey soon evolved. Alex and his duo were soon victorious at the Snowpoint Gym, where Candice recommended they traveled around the rest of the region battling.

Three years later and Alex had battled across most of Sinnoh, collecting the Gym badges as he went. Surprisingly, with his son finding some recognition (and sometimes money), Alex's Dad became much more interested in his life. It was him that suggested Alex join the Grand Tournament, after seeing the outrageous cash prize to the winner.
