In the PMD universe, presuming humans did at some point exist there... what exactly happened that got rid of them? And how long ago did it happen?

ALTHOUGH I have never played PMD, I want to give a half-assed, goofy answer.

... Yes, a catastrophic event from a bazillion eons ago wiped out the human race! You see, Dialga went Primal for a first time that no one really knows of except other super-special people... and it was the human race's fault. ONCE again, they were screwing with time (something about a "machine"), and Dialga went Primal and KEELED THEM DEAD.

BUT, in all seriousness...

Do multiple "Pokemon Worlds" exist in canon?

For the sake of my sanity, I always treat various parts of a fictional idea seperate, overall; I keep the games, Manga, and Anime seperate from each other when I look at them; although if I make a story that isn't heavy in Pokemon-world settings, I have a habit of taking certain elements from each one (such as the shrinking 'ball I remember from the anime) and fit them in where they make some form of sense.

I guess in a way, each canon is an alternate universe of the other canons that we know of. At least, that is how I look at such things.

It does in "Nothing, Everything." No, I'm serious. I"m always harking how "Nothing, Everything" is a mixture of both anime and game elements. Besides my usal, "oh, it's cause Ash and company hadn't gone far yet," my mind just suddenly thought of a story that can pull both elements together.

For my other fics though, I seperate game canon from anime and manga canon. Those medias have different ways of how the world works.

Yes, they do. They're alternate universes, some further ahead in time than others. The gameverse is one place, with the game's characters and their methods of dealing with evil teams. The animeverse is another (I mean seriously, how the heck is the Battle Frontier in Kanto?) with Ash, May and the TR trio. The mangaverse is in yet another realm. Each of them have somewhat fundamental differences in them and the way the world works in them. The lasting proof, in the end, is that the evil teams can't be defeated more than once in very similar ways. No. And some games are in different universes to other games. For example, Emerald is in an alternate universe a couple of years after Ruby and Sapphire, as the Battle Frontier is bigger, and Steven has given up Hoenn's most coveted place for rocks. Then there's the fact that gyms and championship are worked differently. In the games, the Elite Four is it. In the manga and anime, the Elite Four are just a bunch of elite trainers. The tounament is what matters in becoming champion. I could keep going on about differences in characters and people, but my pinky is starting to strain from reaching for that tiny backspace button. And that was the largest paragraph I have ever written on this forum. Even my fanfic's paragraphs can't contend. :D

Well, it's canon that multiple timelines exist in that universe, at least (*fistshake at ending of R/S arc in Pokémon Special*). One might therefore suggest that the different canon versions are just manifestations of those differing timelines--there's on in which a trainer named Ash Ketchum was born and came to the lab late, there's one where Delta-Species Pokémon were created, and so on. The basic elements are the same, but events either occurred in slightly different ways or didn't occur at all or did occur where they didn't anywhere else. You might even speculate that every single game file started by people in this world would create its own timeline, seeing as things happen a little different in everyone's game.

I tend to mash canons together where they aren't totally contradictory, though. There are some things I like about anime canon, so I use those; there are some things I like better in game canon, so I overwrite the anime canon with those, and so on.

Alright, this one needs a little clarifying. What I'm looking for here is if the various mangas, anime, games, etc. are all different ways of looking at the same world, or whether each one is a world unto itself.

Yes. Trust me. I've tried canon cocktailing, and characters aside, yeah, there's some oddities here and there that I've tried to jump over or really BS to get to work because the continuity don't overlap quite as nicely as I'd like. For example, "How did Team Rocket get founded?" (Because in the anime, Giovanni's mother founded it. In the games and manga, it's Giovanni himself.) "Who invented the Pokedex, and if it wasn't Westwood who wrote the entries, how much of a role does Westwood play in the Pokemon world?" "Seafoam Islands. The games say they're uninhabited, but there's a resort there in the anime. Is this the same place? If not, where is it actually?" And, um, Bill's... entire... character. (I swear, eventually, there's going to be a post where I won't be able to use him as an example. But seriously. What the crap, anime Bill? Where did you come from?)

Should ACC replace Astinus as mst3k host after the end of the next season?

The Pokémon ate them. The ones who didn't get eaten got the hell out of there before they'd be eaten, too. I assume it was not that long ago, because all the Pokémon know what humans are.

Apperantly in order to keep this thread as vivid as it usually is, the subjects of conversation have to be completely insane, i.e. nothing that has to do with fanfiction. Or, well, almost nothing to do with fanfiction.

Oh, well. I just came up with another pointless and stupid question, but I'm going to post it anyway.

Just interested because I'm thinking of giving myself a cameo role as either a lightheaded security guard at a popular battle arena or as a cleaner fo the said facility. I would then make some lightheaded, witty comment at one of the characters, who'd yell at me...

I'm... not entirely sure what cameo I'd have; that varies from fic to fic, of course, but...

Hm... well, I guess if I looked at Depth Perception as an example, I'd be one of those odd nerdy tourists who gives out some kind of odd and obscure forth-wall breaking comment about what's going on in the storyline thusfar.

A toughie. Either an eccentric random one like the NPCs seem to be doing something random (possibly involving pastries - kinda like a typical citizen of Pyrite Town, heh), or as one of the people on Orre's highly successful television station. XD

Oh, geeze... I think it was my first attempt at fanfiction without my knowledge of the world of fanfiction. It was about CatDog (anyone remember that cartoon?) in space. ... My guess would be that the title was, "The Adventures of Catdog in Spaaaace". Yeah, that sounds about right.

Yeah. *points at Tokyo Mew Mew* That one was so bad, though, that I burst out laughing every five seconds, so that might not count.

Then, there's a story I wrote when I was nine years old. The story was about a 12-year girl, Liisa (this is probably the 3rd most popular name of all times in Finland), whose parents had horses and when one of the horses gave birth, she got the foal. If I remember right, she ran away from home because her parents wouldn't let her ride all the time and she rode away on her horse who wasn't even a year old (horses have to be at least three years old before you can even train them) and took three apples for food. She, of course, gave the apples to her horse and almost died herself before reaching a boarding school with other 12-year-old girls with horses. Yay!

After ten or so pages I got fed up with the story, ended it by writing "THE END" with big letters and started writing an equally crappy sequel for it.

2: What was the title of the very first thing your wrote?
That would have to be "The Little Birch" (Pikku Koivu in Finnish), which was about this little birch tree who had fun with its little tree friends, like another birch and a spruce if I recall correctly. It didn't have much of a plot, really, but then again, I was six at the time. I even made it into a little book with illustrations.

Clearly, I was born to be a writer, don't you think?

Oh yes. Actual printed work and fanfiction. On a frequent basis. *facepalm* I won't go into details.

I don't actually recall. I wrote little original fic snippets since I was a very little kid. I've since lost a lot of that, so I don't remember what the titles actually were.

In terms of fanfiction, same thing. My first fanfic was about Ash finding out his father was reincarnated into his Pikachu (which, in hindsight, was an epic idea that really could have been executed better, if I may say so myself), but I can't for the life of me remember what it was actually titled.

Yes, I have ;_; *points at sig* Not all poems have to be all angsty or verbally aesthetic. I like writing stupid little poems that would make great children's songs, and Pokémon go well with that... Of course, as I am a teenager, I have also wrote some more angsty poems, but those are never long and never about Pokémon.

Oh, and I wrote a name poem about Skitty back then! Thanks for reminding me, txteclipse. Also, this is what it looked like after Astinus "beta'd" it.

Too bad you can't make a living by writing stupid poems. They have to be ultra-modern and super-artistic in order to get sold - at least in Finland. They have to have foggy metaphors where a chair actually means the society and thus the poem is very politically incorrect and raises thoughts as well as arguments. Sometimes I think the poets just write whatever they feel like and then the critics find all these hidded meanings that actually never excisted...

Did you miss the ridiculous name poems or did you just not concider them poetry? xD There have indeed been some poems more or less about Pokémon appearing around here. And then there are poems like this, for example.
