If you're the expert, then why does your game look so terrible?
You have mismatched battle backgrounds, ugly databoxes with a pointless Venusaur in the background, and a ridiculously pixelated title screen.

Dude are you serious.... I trew that topic together in like 1 minute... Jeez what some people will say before understanding whats going on, im aware the enemybase and player bases are different your supposed to look at the enemybase and battlebg... For Christs sake THINK b4 you speak And dont Judge a book by its cover! I said it was an old project those are very old screens from like 3 years ago... I mean seriously you are bashing screens from awhile ago I realized as i worked with the project recently alot needs to change and it has... I was offering constructive criticism. Nowhere in your post did you say that I should only look at the enemy base... I just judged them as a whole.

Why are you posting three-year old screenshots now? More importantly, how did you get hold of Essentials in 2006?

I said like 3 years ago... I dunno when but its when the engine didnt have all this features it does now... its basically when the battle system was the only thing made... and i put that up after i found the file and decided to start working on it... but alot has changed.... i just havent put together an update... i just wanted to announce my project and its better to show something... anything... I plan to update the topic soon and i didnt think the Singleplayerbox was all that bad yeah the vensaur should be removed... Uh I guess im supposed to put this here... I Made a map and I wanted some tips on how to improve it or if it needs to be improved. I think it does but i cant figure how to improve it... well here it is!



Also any tips to help me improve my overall skills are greatly appreacted!

This is going to be for a 4th Gen Tileset that I publicly release, don't rate my mapping skills @_@



The building on the right is custom :D
The tileset will contain a lot of custom things, please tell me what you think of the size of everything!

No, actually I made it myself with rips from the game, saying I can't claim credit for my own work(about two hours to get it all right) isn't being accepted, I can give you the link to my tileset through PM if you don't believe me, I doubt it will be the same as his for I barely have anything in it so far.

Well, except for the blurry drill-machine, and the fact that I don't like tiles without outlines,
it looks pretty good.

I meant to say that I arranged the tileset myself, but the person DEW mentioned DID rip the sprites, sorry, and the drill machine isn't actually blurry, I don't know why the screenshot came out that way.

This is 1/2 the view, the buildings are the correct size.
It should be 200% the size of the ingame buildings.

Try adding some fences, and maybe a couple of trees in the middle. One or two more houses could help; however, try to only use one type of house per town.

The main problem is that it's too empty; maybe you could remake the map at a smaller size, so everything's closer together?

Thanks guys i've been looking at the other maps is the showcase and been learning and seeing what they do and how they blend the terrains and what not i'm in the process of finishing me lesson in ruby but what im done i'll be remapping each map but I do plan to post my maps in a topic so you can see mystyle and add input on how i could improve my style...

Ok I made the 3d Model of beldum based on my sprites... Hard work... My first 3d model too :D It was a pretty big step forward for me...
I used blender to render this, and I exported it to 3ds

Well your first 3d model is way better than mine
Some things I noticed:
1. The head could use less loops and it wouldn't change the siloutte much.
2. Did you use the decimate modifier by any chance?
3. smooth it.
If you need help for rendereing it in a cartoony way, just ask.
Well I haven't posted here for a while, so...


The base models of female and male trainers for my game. All the (young) trainer models will be built from these
