Default AMD ATI vs. Nvidia vs. Intel

So, what video card/cards are you running? Are you brand loyal? Looking for performance only? Onboard good enough for you?

My card:
BFG Tech BFGR88640GTSOCE GeForce 8800GTS 640MB PCI Express x16 OC HDCP Video Card

It was the most powerful within my price range at the time of purchase. I'm happy with it, powerful, LOUD, but nice.

I am brand loyal to Nvidia on the upper end due to their superior drivers. Mid-Range I will equally compare ATI and Nvidia for better performance. I personally cannot stand Intel onboard. I've even been a little crazy and used an XGI Volari V3 Video Card in one of my older machines just to see what it could do.

I've got the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256Mb dedicated. It's pretty powerful for a laptop card and I'm fine with it. I don't play games that require really high graphics, but for the photoshop and other graphical arts stuff I do it's plenty powerful.

On my old laptop I was running an ATI Mobility Radeon X600. it was great and it ran a few games like the matrix online very well. (I shared my comp with my roommate in college while his was out for repairs and he liked playing TMO)

My philosophy is: If it works for what I need it to do and it's reliable I'll use it.

Intel don't make performance chips so you can't really compare them.

Currently using a 6800GT, which despite being ancient still plays all the games I play perfectly.

Before this I've used a X550, 6600, X700, FX5600 and a SiS Xabre 200!

No brand loyalty but I must say I prefer the nvidia drivers.

I'm running a PNY 8800 (I think it's a gts) with 516 mb video RAM. Got it a few days ago. Runs BF2142 at about 45 fps with max settings.

As for brand loyalty...nVidia has made me a believer. I have an EVGA 680i motherboard (nVidia chipset and drivers), and dear Arceus if the tweaking software isn't unbelievable. I don't think there's anything in my computer that the software a) doesn't know and b) can't tweak or overclock. The hardware's also amazing, such as being able to pair the ethernet ports and instantly double bandwidth capacity. Then there's the 14 possible usb ports...integrated hi-def optical audio...yeah. This is a keeper.

My 6800GT runs BF2142 about 45 fps with max settings.

Bad comparison, try Crysis!

What tools are we using to compare these FPS?

fraps hurhur

Haven't tried that in ages though.

I'm sure the 8800 gets way more than 45.
