So, I have been on a long leave of absence. I have nearly obtained my Associates in Science and I will soon be pursuing an internship with the amazing Wildlife Center that I have been volunteering at the past year. I am nearly complete with my journey to the beginning of my new career. Still, I have a deep profound love of Spriting! I wish to share it with you guys! ^^ Just please remember to be aware of the dates when responding to stuff, as this thread is one of the oldest in the entire Pixel Art section of PokeCommunity! I just want to say thanks, and I'm excited to be back!
Something new, i put everything in spoilers by categories so it's easier to look through (I'm a total organization freak!). If i post anything new, there will be a under the heading. I'll also highlight or color the font of the new items internally. Hope it makes it easier! Enjoy!

My first EVER photoshop sprite... it's a partially traceover...partially scratched version of a prexisting lineart commonly floating around... but i extended the body segments where they meet, made the scales more "pointy", scratched the face, crest and tail... and modified the line art in general all over the place ^^ Also, a custom pallette...

Lance Layer

SUSPENDED
This is my RP character. I like how Volkner's body is angled, so I took form from that. I included a shortened jacket, with a simple style, and put in a custom guitar. Then i went to work on the face and head. The face ended up looking a lot like Volkner's, but the hair is pretty cool in my oppionion. Took about an hour and a half to complete. Has a custom pallette: here's a much better hairline:
FINAL VERSION
He's supposed to have black pants, but that wouldn't look to good, so i toned it down to a dark grey. The Navy jacket is a significant part of his story so that doesn't get changed either. As for the guitar, it is based off of the guitarist guitar, but reshaped and colored to have a nice wood look to it. This edit added the silver striping, and has (im my oppinion) better shading!

SCRATCHED!!! This is (apart from the guitar, and the, like twenty pixels, of volkner's face shape) ENTIRELY SCRATCHED! I scratched the legs, top, hands, neck, rock... yeah...wowzer! So to all the cynics out there, HA! I made my own scratched trainer sprite, now leave me alone!!! BTW, it is still the same pallette, except for a new facial color tone, apposed to the light wood color.



YAY! It Lance Layer Overworlds! These took a lot of time to make! (you have all seen the sprite so im no going into that) The body, is based, not copied and pasted, off Volkners, but it created the jacket without all the yellowish blingy stuff. The head is CUSTOM done and it took like an hour to get it right for just the regular front facing.
The color palette is the exact same as the sprite's. The guitar on the second set, took at least two hours to make it look how i wanted it to, and it still isnt exactly right! Again, same color pallette, but actually drawing the guitar mini style was HARD!!!


Lance's party, OW style! YES i know there are inconsistancies in shading... still, each took like tens minutes to make!




Lance's party, PMD style! All but Lance and Gyarados and raichu are ripped. Steelix and Raichu are the switchout 6th member.

Humsaw must beat its wings a hundred times a second
to support the weight of its large blade. This Pokemon
keeps its blade sharp by grinding it against tree sides.

Water

Luvfin, the evolved form of Luvdisk, live only in the warm tropic waters
that surround Floridian Island. These Pokemon have such a cute charm,
they can make people fall in love with the first person they see.

Spinum- Spinning Pokemon FINAL VERSION: EDIT #3
Steel

Spinum have been clocked at speeds over one hundred
miles an hour. This Pokemon's organs are magnetically
held in place in its body so it never becomes dizzy.


Sparkrust (Rusty Ball Pokemon) CANCELED
Electric/Steel

Voltorb have been found throughout the Grotto region that
have not evolved into Electrode. These old rusty Voltorb are
instable, so electric items are magnetically pulled to them.

Normal

Santoki are spirited little Pokemon that bounce around on
their spring-like tails. This Pokemon relys on echo vision to
see and hear, since they are all born blind.

Flying/Ice

Chickabee line the postal station, carrying around packages and
letters to place in the correct P.O. boxes. These little pokemon
aspire to one day leave the post station to deliver like a Delibird.


Laplit (Shy Shell Pokemon) FINAL VERSION
Water/Ice
Height: 2'11"
Weight: 145 lbs

Laplit, the prevolutionary form of Lapras, is quite a shy pokemon.
These water bound pokemon stick close to their mothers for comfort
since they are still young and are easily startled.

Bug/Ground

Antwerp work day and night preparing a feast for the
queen Aviant. These little Pokemon are very strong, able
to lift twenty times their weight.

Aviant (Queen Ant Pokemon) WORK IN PROGRESS
Bug/Flying

Aviant spends much of it's time eating the feast prepared
by the Antwerps. She becomes very fat, resulting in a loss
of flight because her wings can't support her weight.


Torchant (Fire Ant Pokemon) WORK IN PROGRESS
Bug/Fire

Torchants assemble immediately if a threat to the queen
Aviant is brought upon. These Pokemon will fight viciously
to protect their queen Aviant, as well as weaker Antwerps.


Orelec- Iron Cat Pokemon WORK IN PROGRESS
Steel/Electric

Released from the bonds that held it for thousands of
years, Orelec roams the world avoiding humans as much
as possible. It can create thunder storms in an instant.

Ghost

Eidoleon are the spirits of long passed Eevees that had died in a tormented state.
These ghosts roam the world looking for someone to mend their souls.
It is said that these Pokemon cry tears of gold that evaporate on contact with air.


Rocianante (Wild Horse Pokemon) FINAL VERSION
Ground

Wild Rocinante roam in tight herds, keeping an eye out for one another.
These Pokemon are extremely loyal and will carry their trainer on their
back, no matter how far.

Slowqueen (Vain Pokemon)
Water/Psychic

The King's Rock held by Slowpoke also attracts Clamperl. If a
Clamperl latches itself onto the Slowpoke, the result is a very
vain pokemon, carring greatly about it's looks and appearance.


Pegaflame (Pegasus Pokemon)
Fire/Flying

Ancient writings tell of Ponyta that did not want to be
bound to the land. They evolved wings and flew off,
never to be seen again. It is unknown if any currently exist.

Yes... I know that this is a HUGE cliche. But it still looks pretty cool!

Starts with the "Default Egg" from R/S and goes in pokedex order from there. #2 would be a bulbasaur egg, #3 would be a charmander egg...etc. I finished through 151 (Mew). Notice! Evolved forms do not have eggs, since they're evolved. Mewtwo also does not for obvious reasons.


I make them from a custom template i designed. They all have pallettes based off their diamond/pearl sprite. Some in my oppinion are awesome, while others are not so good or simply don't make any sence.

he loves to watch the fish in the aquarium. Cody uses an arsenal

My Life

My car... it's a 1993 Topaz. I've grown up in this car, it's practically
a family member, considering we've owned it for fifteen years. It
has now been passed down to me from my mom. It may be old and

and um. the trainer sprite, of course... (ahh RP charas.... *had one for three years whos still alive today<3<3<3*) its an awesome guitar :D! did you scratch that? *pretty sure you said it was custom.. but yeah... just to make sure* a little niggle is how deatiled the guitar is... and how light it is... compared ot the rest of the sprite... i think you either need to add more blakc to the guitar and deepen the colours or brighten the colours on the guy and make his outline lighter.
and he needs another arm to play guitar, right? it looks off-balamse w/o two arms. even if you say ones hidden. *reccomends splicing off another trainer sprite if you can/want*

the hair IS very cool. buuut the hairline? not so much. its far too square. hairlines nip in at the edges. go see for yourself. down by your temples? seeee? your sprites is a box XD''' um make it more rounded if you can. :3

well done there on the trainer sprite. your color choice is very good, but you need to work on preserving the palette with brighter colors and more importantly, your outlining. get used to those two, especially anti-aliasing, and you'll be making some real nice stuff.

All the eggs are custom done by me. I did not "get" the eggs from anywhere. I do use the fr/lg color palletes of the pokemon on the eggs though. But thanks for the feed back anyhow.

Oh, something new if yall didnt notice, my AWESOME 4 frame animation! It took me like four hours to make it! I LOVE IT!!! So perdy! I got another one i made as well. I'll put it up when i feel like it... i like the gyarados one better for now!

The head thing looks a little akward, I guess because of the black inside it.

yep they're moltres wings, and the head is custom redone, it was goofy looking the way it was.

As for slowqueen, that's a clamperl shell around it's head. It does look a bit screwy though...

Humsaw is without a doubt the hardest one to shade. It is definetely the most inconsistant shading i have done with my carbon sprites. I is just in general a really hard pokemon to sprite, considering the beak and all.

If you think you can do it better, pm me your attempt... sprite away!
