First I'd like to say hello. I'm new to PC and new to writing fanfics, but certainly not new to writing in general. I've written since I was really small, about 5 years old or something. And because I'm not a native English speaker, I'd be rally happy if someone commented my grammar. And criticism is very welcome.
This story is not about saving the world, so it's not one of those really epic, movie-like fanfics, but it does have adventures and a conspiracy in it. And it might have romance in it. Oh, what the heck, just read it.

This fic is finished!
It also has a stand-alone sequel, Secret People.

Prologue

When Cimi had been eleven, she had started her journey as a trainer as did most of the children in her town. Her starter Pokémon had been a Ponyta she had known since she had been only six years old. Her uncle had a farm where he grew and bred fire-type Pokémon, mostly Ponytas, Vulpixes and Growlithes, and this particular Ponyta had gotten Cimi's interest. For a whole summer, this Ponyta and the six-year-old Cimi had played together. After the summer, Cimi had given the Ponyta its nickname Radeem.

"Why Radeem?", had her uncle asked,

"While it's still cute and small, you should give her a cute nickname!"

"I want her to keep her name", Cimi had answered,
"And she can't have a lame cute name when she's already a Rapidash."

After that, the Ponyta answered only to the name Radeem and when Cimi came back and called it's name the next summer, it came running. This was the reason Cimi's uncle gave Radeem to be Cimi's starter Pokémon.

A couple of months after Cimi had left, her parents and uncle came and visited her for her birthday. She was then staying in a small Pokémon Center and nurse Joy had also attended her 12th birthday. As a present, her parents gave her a Pichu, and what a fiery one he was. For his size he was awfully self-centered and he thought way too much of himself for his own good. He was always ready for a showdown with anyone who'd mess with him. Apart from that he was a jolly little lad, helpful and happy, and he also had a strong sense of justice. Cimi caught most of her Pokémon with this Pichu rather than using Radeem, because Pichu really loved a good fight and Radeem did not really care for those things, as proud and noble as she was. Cimi kept neither of these Pokémon in a pokeball because she often felt terribly lonely without her Pokémon around. Besides, riding Radeem was an excellent way to move from one place to another.

Her first catch had been a Ralts, one of a friendly and helpful nature. This Ralts soon began translating Radeem's speech, and in that role became invaluable for Cimi. Soon after Pichu had joined their party, Ralts evolved into a Kirlia, which made her even more joyous and helpful. She was mostly useless in a battle, as she was pretty weak for her species, and thus preferred being a translator. Because of her position, neither did she live in a pokeball. She often sat behind Cimi on Radeem's back and when she was on exceptionally good mood, she'd dance after them and sing little songs by herself.

But soon after getting her first badge, Cimi grew tired of being a trainer. She did not care for the fights, nor catching Pokémon, and thinking about the next gym battle made her slightly nautious. She did not like to hurt Pokémon, even if they loved fighting, and her only chances obviously were to hurt someone else's Pokémon or her own, which was even worse. So, she quitted being a trainer and released all her Pokémon to the wild. Most of them went back to freedom, now stronger and harder to capture, and lived their lives as they had lived before Cimi had captured them. But Pichu, Kirlia and Radeem, who had evolved into Rapidash, all wanted to stay with her, so she took them with her and went back home. Her mother and father were really happy to get their daughter back, and they had no problem with her bringing Pokémon with her.

Cimi went to work with her uncle on his ranch so she could think what she wanted to be. She did not care much about the idea of becoming a Pokémon breeder, and she didn't want to do entertainment either. She thought about starting as a Pokémon ranger, but that wouldn't have suited her either. So for many years she stayed as a helper on the ranch, until something rather strange happened that made her leave the ranch.

A very, very tired and hungry Bulbasaur appeared on the outskirts of the ranch.

Bulbasaurs were not native to her home area, and this one had clearly made a long trip.

The Bulbasaur tried to hide when Cimi rode towards it, Radeem's blazing tail behind her, Pichu standing between Radeem's ears and Kirlia sitting behind her. It was tired, so Cimi got to it before it managed to hide. Kirlia spoke with the Bulbasaur for a while, and Bulbasaur relaxed. Kirlia turned towards Cimi and said:
"I told him we're not going to catch him. I think he's okay now. Did you know Bulbasaurs could read?"

"What are you talking about", Cimi answered halfheartedly as she took her radio out so she could call someone to help them with the Bulbasaur.

"Well", said Kirlia,
"He said he read the sign pointing to a Pokémon ranch and thought he could get some food.."

There certainly was something strange to it.
And Cimi was to find out what it was.

Well I must say that this is preaty good. Only noticed a few things:

Paragraphs need to be spaced in between them. You did this for most, but forgot to here.

Just a few spelling mistakes.

The last line if you meaning to have the Bulbasaur reading more than one sigh leave it. If he is supposed to read more than one, then is should be as follows.
Quote:
“ He said he had read a sigh that pointed to a Pokémon ranch.

Ah, those spelling mistakes... I make them often, because I write so fast and don't notice them. Well, as long as you people keep reporting them, I'll correct them as soon as I can... Thank you! Here's the next chapter.

Chapter 1 - Bulbasaur's Story

The Bulbasaur Cimi had found was so exhausted it couldn't spew out even half a "bulba" before it had eaten and slept a whole night. Cimi spent that night in the shelter with the Bulbasaur with Pichu guarding her jealously and Kirlia dancing around just in case the Bulbasaur would wake up. As morning came, they had all fallen asleep. But Bulbasaur was finally awake.

He stood up and looked a lot better now that he had slept. He stamped the floor a bit with his front paws and checked that his vines were okay. Then he started slowly moving towards the door.
"Where are you going", Kirlia asked silently and opened her eyes.

"Umm... Out", answered Bulbasaur.

"No, I mean... Where were you going? Why are you here?"

Bulbasaur looked at Kirlia. Oh how she annoyed him with her constant little dancing and stupid questions.
"Do Pokémon need a reason to roam around?" he asked, very annoyed.

"You're not roaming around", Kirlia said with a friendly expression,
"You want to get somewhere. You've traveled a long way."

Bulbasaur turned his head and looked at the human sleeping against the wall with a Pichu on her lap.
"She's not a trainer, is she?", he asked a little worried.

"No, she's not. She's more of a Pokémon helper now", Kirlia answered and tilted her head a bit. I wonder, she tought, why Bulbasaur is so afraid about getting caught. She had not disliked it at all, she even liked being in a Pokéball. It was all nice and cozy in there, and it never rained inside a Pokéball. She did not care for rain.

"Ah! Do you have a fear of enclosed spaces?", Kirlia asked, as it was the most likely answer.

"No, I don't!", Bulbasaur answered hastily, but admitted after a short silence:
"Well, I guess a bit..."

"And you've run away from a trainer, and you're escaping as far as you can get", Kirlia spouted happily, as she thought she had solved the mystery.

"It's not like that, really", Bulbasaur said,
"I was more like abandoned..."

"Oh, he's awake!", Cimi shouted in excitement and woke up Pichu, who fell down from her lap.

"Of course I am", answered Bulbasaur, but all Cimi could hear was "bulba bulbasaur".

During the next hours Cimi, Kirlia and Pichu made Bulbasaur tell the truth. He told them that he had been a starter Pokémon of a very demanding trainer. One time he had fought with his trainer, whom he had disobeyed, and had been forcefully put into a pokeball. When he later had forced his way out of it, he had been in a dark forest. He had then decided to leave on his own, and his destination was The Isle of Jade, where wild Bulbasaurs, Ivysaurs and Venusaurs roamed free in peace. His only problem was that any trainer who saw him tried to catch him with all their might, and since he was a grass type, it was not rare that he had to dodge some sort of flamethrower.

His story made Cimi think intensively and had Pichu almost in tears, clinging to Cimi's leg. Kirlia swirled around on her place and tried to have a happy chit-chat with Bulbasaur.
"I've never heard there were Pokémon on the Island of Jade", Cimi said finally,
"But I guess they want to keep all the Pokémon there safe. Well, there's not much to do. We'll escort you, Bulbasaur!"

"Escort me?!", Bulbasaur gasped, his eyes widened. He did not know if this was a good idea or a really bad one.

"Yay", said Kirlia, so excited she stopped her dancing.

"Wouldn't that be awesome", Pichu thought, his eyes glittering and his mind already set on upcoming battles. He really liked being a hero.

"I'm tired of babysitting little Ponytas all year round", Cimi explained,
"And so is Radeem. We could really use an adventure, and Isle of Jade isn't that far away. Besides, you'll never get there by yourself. There are tons of trainers roaming around this area, and boy would they like to get their hands on you. And how were you planning on getting to that island? You're not some secret water type, are you?"

Bulbasaur's expression revealed that he had not even thought about all the water separating Isle of Jade from the mainland. He had simply made his journey watching out for trainers and hoping to get to his destination soon enough.

"Well, it's decided then", Cimi said, smiling to Bulbasaur with her brown eyes glowing. Bulbasaur could not say no, nor bring himself happy about the turn things had taken.

"Now we need to talk Radeem into this", Cimi said and stood up.

"That's not going to be easy", Pichu noted, and was certainly right.

Ouch, I make really much mistakes with missing letters, or letters changing places, and two times out or three I write CImi instead on Cimi. Annoying! Here's another chapter too, this one's sort of back-up-story, so don't get annoyed about the story not moving forward on this one. I'm trying to bring out the characters a bit, but this chapter is also really important for the story. You need to know this. Okay, here you go.

Chapter 2 - About the Isle of Jade

Cimi's uncle told Cimi that they couldn't leave until Bulbasaur was in better condition. That in mind, Cimi thought of a perfect plan to make Radeem come with them without complaining. She gathered her Pokémon and Bulbasaur around and started telling them the story of Isle oh Jade.

"You see, during the ancient times, jade was thought of as a godly stone. It was thought to bring fortune to those carrying it, and so it was held high in value. It was very rare on the mainland, but on a certain island there were tons of jade, just to wait for someone to take it away. That island became known as the Isle of Jade back then", Cimi started her story.

"What's jade like?", Pichu wanted to know.

"It's kind of greeny, very modest-looking stone, I think... I've never actually seen any", Cimi said, trying to remember.

"Yeah, that's pretty much it", Bulbasaur said absent-mindedly.

"How do you know?", Kirlia asked kindly, out of curiousity.

"My trainer's mother had a jade pin she used every day, but it's really none of your business", he muttered angrily.

"But it was not easy to get to Isle of Jade!", Cimi shouted to stop the conversation and continued her story:

"The waters between mainland and the island were full of underwater rocks and there were mighty breezes blowing all winter, so many ships sank. The gap was too wide for a bridge, but too narrow for biggar ships. So, soon it was thought that gods cursed anyone who stole their precious stones. Only the most brave and most greedy dared to go and take any of the jade, and in time, the island was forgotten."

"Jade must look really beautiful, because why would any fool go onto such a cursed island in any other case", Radeem said holding her head high.

"Remember they thought jade had some macigal touch to it", Cimi reminded and went on.

"It took many, many years before decent people went on that island again. They tought it was a forsaken island with no Pokémon, no chance for growing anything and most importantly, no gold. The Isle of Jade is filled with who knows how old forests, so I really wouldn't wonder if they made it into a sanctuary for grass type Pokémon. Well, anyway, some people still liked jade a lot, so some jade miners started to live there and craft jewellery out of the stones. They still sell the cheapest jade accessories there nowadays. And, it is also said, that they're the best there are. Once a noble woman looked for a jewel that would suit her tastes and be as classy as she was. Her servants brought diamonds, pearls, rubys, emeralds and sapphires for her to see, but nothing was good enough, had it gold, silver or platinum around it. Even crystals were not enough for her. But a humble wife came from the Isle of Jade with a cheap jade ring with her, and that was what the noble woman had wanted. She paid the wife a fortune for the ring, so I guess jade does bring some sort of luck!"

"That must truly be a remarkable stone", Radeem said, her red, usually cold eyes glittering for excitement. Cimi grinned and continued.

"And the Isle of Jade has a lot of caves, some of them underwater, so it's a great place for venturing around. I've allways wanted to visit the place and see some of the caves, with jade stripes on the wall and..."

"Could we cut this", Bulbasaur interrupted. Everyone stared at him, very suprised about the sudden burst.

"I really don't care. Go elsewhere if you want to go on about the stupid island. I'm tired. Scram", Bulbasaur said angrily and went back to his corner. Everyone left the room silently after a moment, all very confused and a bit hurt of Bulbasaur's rude words.

"Sheesh!", said Radeem when they got outside. She was very hurt, as she was insanely proud and was rather easily hurt about anything. She was also very annoyed, because she didn't want to ask more of those childish stories, but still wanted to hear them.

"He's very upset about something", Kirlia said very sadly,
"I wonder if he told us everything."

"Of course he didn't", Pichu spouted and tried to get back inside,
"But I'll make him tell! Or at least we have to guard him with care, so he doesn't do anything suspicious..."

"Oh, cut it off, you brat", Radeem said, slightly annoyed,
"Don't waste your effort on that punk. You'd better get to sleep, cause I'm not carrying any sleeping Pichus!"

"What do you mean?", Pichu asked and took his fighting pose.

"When you sleep, you tend to let teeny tiny charges out your pouches. It doesn't feel nice."

"But why would you carry me? I have my feet, you know!"

"Aren't we leaving to Isle of Jade sometime tomorrow?", Radeem asked Cimi, completely ignoring Pichu.

"You still want to go?", Cimi asked astonished. She had completely given up hope when Bulbasaur had so rudely tossed them all out.

"That's the only way to get rid of that punk, right? Stop this nonsense and go do something useful. I'm rather hungry, so I'll go eat something. We have to be ready, it's a long way... Not that anyone of you would walk, though..."

Radeem galloped away so she didn't have to feel embarassed.
Kirlia, Pichu and Cimi stared after her.

"She wants to go", Pichu yelled in excitement.

"This is nice! We can help our friend Bulbasaur", Kirlia said and started her dancing again.

Cimi didn't say a thing. This had all gone so easily. She had expected something more troublesome. Well, I guess it's a good thing Radeem lets herself have a little fun, she thought to herself as she walked towards the main house, but still...

The scent of delicious food coming from the house dissolved her troubled thoughts. Her aunt was an excellent cook, and this smelled like Cimi's favourite food.

Her thoughts should be in quotes. You may put them in italics by placing “[ i] [/i]” around them

Punctuation should be on the inside of the quotes.

are you using a spell checker or word processor?

I like that the pokemon talk but the human does not understand.

I'm sorry about those stupid mistakes... I don't use a spell checker, because it's bothersome to change its language all the time (I most often write in Finnish, you see). But if the story works fo someone, that's great! I'll have to write the next one really quick, cause this far this has been really boring. I'll put it tomorrow, my time. Thank you for reading these, kcander90, really!

Well, since I wrote the next chapter, I might as well put it here. In this one, the story really begins to move. Stay tuned for more, and remember to criticise, rate and notify about my mistakes! Thank you.

Chapter 3 - A Bad Day

In a nearby forest, a boy sat down on the ground. He was lost and tired of walking. His bag was full of food he didn't like, his feet were aching and he thought his cap was ridiculous, but he had to wear it because of the sun. He had never been lost before a certain incident, and after that, he had practically done nothing else than being lost. He took off his cap, and shook his bluish-black hair. He put his bag on the ground beside him. A Pokédex slipped out. It was a regular red Pokédex, a bit old and worn out, "Adan" was written on the cover. His mother had the habit of writing his name to everything he owned, because as a small child he had lost his toys, keys and even his shoes all the time.

"That's so stupid,” he mumbled and stuffed the Pokédex back to his bag.

On his belt there were five minimized pokéballs, and they all had a Pokémon inside them. Although Adan was already 15 years old, he had been a Pokémon trainer for just over a year now. When he had been eleven, he had passed his Pokémon school with the best grades, but had not left home to become a trainer. He had already gotten his Pokédex and his starter Pokémon, when it was discovered that his mom had a cancer. He had then decided to stay at home instead of starting as a Pokémon trainer. His mother had then died, three long years later, and a while after that, Adan and his Bulbasaur finally left for their quest to beat all the gym leaders and compete in the official Pokémon League, for that was shat his mother had wished for the past years. Everything had gone pretty well until the incident on the Isle of Jade. After that, he had been lost all the time, argued with Bulbasaur every day and now Bulbasaur, of all his Pokémon, was gone. Bulbasaur's pokéball was in his bag, but he was now looking for the Pokémon that should've been in it. He was certain that Bulbasaur would go back to Isle of Jade once it had escaped. If only he knew how to get back... he had completely lost the sense of directions he had always been so proud of. Bulbasaur, on the other hand, surely knew where to go, and so he would never find it.

"The heck with everything", Adan yelled and stood up. He stood there for a while, listening to the sounds of forest. Then he turned around and faced the Wurmple that had crawled its way to him.

"Hi there, little one", Adan said to it and kneeled down,
"Can you tell me where I am and how can I get to Isle of Jade?"

"Well", answered the Wurmple,
"If you go east of here, say, for twenty minutes or so, you should reach a road that leads somewhat that way."

"I forgot", Adan said, very depressed,
"I don't understand you guys anymore. Could you just.... point, or something?"

The Wurmple, who felt bad for Adan, pointed her tail to the direction he thought was east. She was a Pokémon, and her sense of directions was more accurate, and it really did point to east. Adan left for the way she had shown, but it didn't take him long to lose the way again and turn south-east, so it took him almost an hour to reach the road. He was having a bad day, and the fact that there was a small stream between the forest and the road didn't help a bit. He stared at the stream for a while and then sighed.

"If only I was a Pokémon," he mumbled, "Preferably a Water type... This would all be so much easier." He took off his shoes, and threw them to the other side of the stream and went in the cold, cold water.

He was still trying to get his feet and pants dry again, when a red-haired girl came along the road. She was not alone, a Rapidash, Kirlia, and a Pichu were with her too. Adan started to quickly put his shoes on his wet feet so that he'd look as normal as possible.

"Umm, do you need help?" the girl asked. Adan turned around. The girl was right behind him, although she had just a few seconds ago been twenty meters away. She sat on her Rapidash and looked down on sitting Adan.

"Wha- Wow, you're fast", Adan gasped.

"Thank you", the Rapidash answered, but of course Adan didn't know this.

"Well, do you?" the girl asked again.

"I, um, no, I'm just a bit wet, coming across that stream and all", Adan explained. He was terrified about the girl noticing he had no shoes on. He had terrible experiences about walking bare-footed in front of people and did not want anymore of those.

"There's a little bridge just a bit down the road", the girl said and pointed to where she had came from, "So you really didn't have to get wet. But well, how were you supposed to know..."

"There usually are bridges over rivers, you know", mumbled the Pichu, who was sitting on the Rapidash's head, between her ears and clinging on to her horn. Pichu's words, however, were wasted, since Adan did not understand. On that moment, though, Adan wasn't even interested, because he was too busy sulking about the bridge he had not known about.

"What are you doing here?" asked the Kirlia that sat on the girl's shoulders. Adan understood this question, though he really didn't know how, and so he answered.

"Well, I'm trying to find my way to Isle of Jade", he explained, "You see..."

He was interrupted when another Pokémon came after the girl and her group. This was a dinosaur-like Pokémon, with a plant on his back.

"Bulba..?" Adan gasped, but was immediately disappointed. Bulbasaurs had onions on their backs, but this one had a flower bud and a couple of leaves.

"What is it?" the girl asked and looked at the Ivysaur that was following them,
"Is there something wrong?"

"No. You see, I'm looking for my Bulbasaur, I've lost him and I thought he'd head for Isle of Jade. I just thought for a bit... well, never mind. You should probably be going, and I have to dry myself a bit,” Adan said. He hoped that they would leave him alone. He was in a really bad mood now, and the Ivysaur was watching him in a rather hostile way.

"No, we can start a campfire for you", said the girl, and hopped down from Rapidash's back, "You'll dry faster."

Adan couldn't tell if the girl really had a strange look on her face or if it was only his imagination. With the help of her Rapidash, the girl started a fire and invited Adan to sit with her. All her Pokémon stayed a bit away from them, Ivysaur even further than the rest.

"But Ivysaur only recently evolved,” said Pichu, "Shouldn't we tell him? He's looking for his friend, you know."

"Don't be stupid,” answered the Rapidash, "I don't think Ivysaur wants to be exposed. If he told us the truth, that's the trainer who abandoned him in the woods."

"He doesn't seem too bad,” Kirlia thought and tilted her head a bit.

"I wonder who's telling the truth", Pichu said and sat down on Rapidash's head.

"In any case, this is going to be interesting", Rapidash said and smirked a bit,
"And don't sit on my head, you brat. Have some respect!"

Meanwhile, over by the campfire, the girl and Adan had started to prepare food.

"Oh, by the way", said the girl,
"My name is Cimi."

"I'm Adan. Nice to meet you", Adan answered, and lied every word.

done nothing else than being lost.

“Its” and “it’s” can be easily misplaced. If you are having problems, say “it is” in the sentce, if it sounds right and makes since then put “it’s” there. If it doesn’t make since the put “its” in.

"Hi there, little one", Adan said to it and kneeled down,

"Can you tell me where I am and how can I get to Isle of Jade?"

"Well," answered the Wurmple, "If you go east of here, say, for twenty minutes or so, you should reach a road that leads somewhat that way."
Quote originally posted by kc:
when using quotes (“ ”) make sure you put the comma or other punctuation inside the quote. Also make sure that the whole statement is in the same paragraph. I left the paragraph below the same to show you how not to do it. The paragraph above is the way to do it.

Very interesting story you have going on. It is original. At least it isn’t one of those stories that we can guess what’s going to happen right away.

If you are wondering why I did something, just ask.a

Hello Again! I thought there would be a break, because I got my Pokémon Diamond on Thursday, but it seems I still have time for writing. And this time, I even used a spell check, so we'll see if poor kcander90 has to keep correcting every sentence I write...

Okay, in this chapter, we (are forced to) get to know Adan a bit, and maybe a bit more of Ivysaur, too. I have written the next two chapters already, and they're named the following:
Chapter 5 - Chapter with a Lot of Yelling
Chapter 6 - Adan and Ivysaur

And after those, the story gets a lot more exciting! So, keep reading, if someone does that in the first place. My thanks for all the readers, and please comment!

Chapter 4 - A Nightmare with Shoes

For Cimi and her Pokémon the first days with Adan were agony. When they first met him, none of them had the intention of travelling together, expecially not Adan. By the time he had left on his own twice, it came clear that he could not travel alone, not anywhere. He had left their camp twice, once in the evening and the second time in the morning, and appeared back after an hour or so, every time by accident. When he came back lost for the second time, Cimi decided not to let him leave anymore. Besides, she thought he might solve his disputes with his Ivysaur.

After the first night, it was also very clear that Adan was indeed Ivysaur's trainer, who, according to Ivysaur, had abandoned his starter, and according to himself, had lost his precious Pokémon by accident. Ivysaur, who had evolved just a day before after a fight with a wild Pidgeotto, sulked the whole time Adan stayed with them. He did not speak a word, made a couple of halfhearted attempts to escape and didn't care for food much either. This, though, was not an unusual state of things, as Ivysaur never ate eagerly any Pokémon food Cimi gave him. Cimi thought that might've been because it was all meant for fire type Pokémon and had decided to buy some grass brand food from the next store they came across.

Cimi, Pichu and Radeem had all suspicions towards Adan and his Ivysaur. Pichu was clearly on Adan's side, Radeem was on Ivysaur's side, Cimi didn't know who to believe and Kirlia didn't care much for the whole suspicion thing. This made the atmosphere rather unpleasant and everyone hoped for Adan and Ivysaur either to be friends again and tell the truth or to vanish to the opposite sides ofthe earth, both preferably as far away from them as could be. The true nightmare, however, began when they started to know Adan better.

The only positive outcome of Adan's continuous prensence was that Ivysaur slowly sulked less and less, wasn't all that grumpy anymore and even had little conversations with Kirlia, like this:

"Hmm? You don't like your food?" Kirlia asked one morning.

"No, not that much, really", Ivysaur mumbled.

"What kind of food do you like, then?"

"Well, my... trainers mother made some good stuff. I don't know what she put in it, but I've loved it since I was little."

"Oh? You didn't leave home when your trainer got you?"

"No, his mother was kind of sicky, so we stayed at his home for a couple of years."

"Really? What kind of sickness did she have?"

"Well, she had.... Wait, I don't want to talk about this! Go tease someone else!"

But Adan himself seemed to have no good traits in him at all. He didn't eat any food without complaining about it, he didn't change his clothes without someone pointing out that he was starting to get a bit smelly, and when washing clothes or dishes or doing anything useful, he'd always mutter how annoying and bothersome it all was. He never joined the conversation in an reasonable way, rather he'd say something like "you're wrong" and "I don't like Beedrills at all, can't you talk about something more fun?" and "I'm really hungry and there's nothing good to eat!". Bit by bit Cimi thought she'd understand Ivysaur even if it turned out he had escaped on it's free will. The worst of all was Adan's behaviour when they were walking. He complained about his shoes every two minutes and didn't listen to anything Cimi said to him, as Cimi was riding and he wasn't. Radeem didn't take Adan on her back no matter how Adan begged. This, however, seemed to make Ivysaur a bit more merry than he usually was.

The only way to make Adan happy and thus a bit better company was to make him talk about Pokémon battles. Even a slight mention about the subject made his eyes glitter with enthusiasm and he would discuss about strategies and ask about Cimi's battles for hours and hours. he also told glorious stories about his fights with his Bulbasaur, and those stories seemed to doften Ivysaurs heart a bit, as he always came closer to listen waht Adan had to say. Adan's stories often flattered his Bulbasaur and himself a bit more than was appropriate, but they were good stories. Even Kirlia, who didn't care for battles at all, listened to him as he told how he and his Bulbasaur had beaten their first gym leader and his fire type Pokémon, against all the odds. Pichu, of course, as obsessed to battles he was, would sit right next to Adan, listening, his eyes glittering as he imagined the situations in his small head, and his cheeks sparking with extra electricity he could not keep in.

"There we were, standing at our very first gym, and the leader sends out a Charmeleon! I was all ready to give up, but Bulbasaur was so pumped up he wanted to try anyway, and so we went for it. The fight was complete madness! I shouted commands and Bulbasaur only obeyed half, sometimes he should've obeyed but toher times he saved himself by disobeying. There was this one really close call, when I ordered it to do a Take Down. Just on the moment he was getting close enough, Charmeleon used Ember, and we knew it was his last one and he had been saving it. I was ready to give up any second before my poor Bulbasaur would get too hurt, but guess what?"

"What? What?" Pichu asked, barely keeping himself put.

"He was never going to do the darn Take Down! All the time he was going for a Vine Whip, but the gym leader and his Charmeleon thought he was going to obey me... So, the Ember missed, the Vine Wip was a successful hit, and it didn't take us long to win the fight after that. I think they could've given up right that moment, but the gym leader apparently wanted to torture his poor Charmeleon for nothing. They had no chance left!"

"Hmm", said Kirlia, "but wasn't that what they said about you before the fight? 'No chances'?"

"Ahh, that was a different thing", Adan answeared with a dreamy look in his eyes.

"It's great that you tell these stories, Adan", Cimi said, sitting by their campfire and making food for everyone, "but I really hope you don't teach Pichu to be disobedient... He's a handful now, and I don't want to think how many hands do I need if he gets any more self-confident."

"I have an idea", Adan said, looking at the food Cimi was making with great remorse, "What if I train Pichu a bit? It would be good for both of us."

Cimi gave them the permission and they went a bit further from the camp. Radeem came with Pichu, as she did not trust Adan. Kirlia came also with them, because she was curious. Adan looked down at his pokéballs.
"Let's see", he said, "do you want to fight Eevee or Beautifly?"

"Beautifly", Pichu yelled. He was so excited he couldn't even stay put. He had sometimes took part in the Pokémon Ranch's training classes, but those were for fire Pokémon, so they weren't as fun. Now he'd have real training, with a real trainer - not that he didn't prefer Cimi over every human, but still...

"I don't undestand you anyway", Adan said and smiled a bit helplessly, "so it'll be Eevee in any case."

He threw the pokéball and Eevee appeared. This Eevee had been Adan's first catch, and he was still waiting to get a water stone and evolve it into Vaporeon. This had been Eevee's choice, as she wanted to be nothing else than Vaporeon. She played in water whenever she had the chance and pretended to use water type moves.

"Wow", she said, "I've been there a long time."

"I'm sorry, Eevee", Adan said, almost if reading Eevee's mind, "I've been looking for Bulbasaur fo a couple of weeks now. Remember I lost him? That's why you don't get out often. Well, here's a chance to get a bit of excitement. We're going to train this Pichu a bit."

"Oh, boy", said Pichu.

Oh, but I have a weakness for electricity, Eevee thought for a second, before she took her fighting pose.

"All right!", she yelled, and the training began.

A bit later Cimi was tasting her food, sitting together with Ivysaur by the fire. Ivysaur was almost asleep, and as Cimi watched it, she felt a bit troubled. It would take them no longer than a week to reach the ferry for Island of Jade. She wondered if she could solve the mystery of Adan and his Ivysaur before it was time to part ways with them.

Suddently Kirlia was right next to her. She seemed to be in deep thoughts as she stared into the fire and stood completely still.

"You know", she finally said to Cimi, "there's something odd about Adan and the way he thinks. It's almost like... he thinks like a Pokémon..."

Hello everyone, I'm sorry for the long wait (if anyone waits)! I'll be posting two chapters now and more will follow, so stay tuned. Additionally, if anyone wants to see how I think Cimi and Adan and the rest of the gang look like, I can post some pictures too. I've also made a Cimi-sprite Please enjoy!

Chapter 5 - Chapter with a Lot of Yelling

As they travelled on, the weather took a change for worse. It was raining almost all the time, and so Radeem was tired and everybody had to walk. During the worst downpours they had to take cover under the trees and all the time it seemed like there was something worse on it's way. All this made a day's walk almost a three day's walk, so to everyone it looked like they were never going to reach Isle of Jade, or even the ferry. But with every step they took, Adan seemed to complain less and less. Instead, he started sulking in his own, weird way, by hurrying a bit ahead of everyone else and then beating up some wild Pokémon with his own. To Cimi, this was even more annoying than his non-stop complaining, and a couple of times they had to take cover from an enraged flock of bird Pokémon or an army of Beedrill.

"I feel bad for my Pokémon, having to stay in their stupid balls", he explained when Cimi asked him to stop, and didn't stop. It took Cimi a while to realize Adan was, for some strange reason, sulking, and taking it out on innocent wild Pokémon. Knowing all this, Cimi decided to find out what was troubling Adan.

"He's always like that", Ivysaur said to Kirlia a couple of meters behind them. The rain that had Radeem completely worn out only perked up Ivysaur, the grass type he was. " When he's feeling bad, he makes it up by fighting. I hate that, I don't like fighting half the much he does. You have no idea how annoying that can be!"

"Did he make you fight wild Pokémon too, then?" Kirlia asked. On the moment, she was riding on Ivysaur. She did not like rain at all, she'd rather have spent all rainy days in her safe and comfy little Poké ball, but since Cimi didn't use those anymore, she adjusted to the situation.

"No, of course not", Ivysaur laughed, "How could he? No, I just told him to cut down trees or something instead. I don't like him bossing me around, but he is a bossy type, after all."

"So you just disobeyed him, then? But aren't you supposed to obey him, when you're his starter and all?" Kirlia asked again, in a very friendly way. She was never rude, and while she was very nosy, she did it such a way nobody got mad at her, except occasionally.

"Eh, um, that is... Well, I'm not going to fight all the innocent Pokémon for nothing, you know, and... all the trainers, that's a different thing...", Ivysaur seemed very confused. Kirlia decided that this was not a good subject to talk about. It seemed that Ivysaur had never thought about things that way.

"Why do you think he's feeling bad now?", she asked and leaned on Ivysaur's bud a bit.

"Beats me", said Ivysaur, "Most of the time he's like that I don't have a slightest idea why."

"Maybe it's about his mother", Kirlia suggested, wondering how Ivysaur didn't know even though he had spent so much time with his trainer, "You said his mother had a sickness of some sort."

"It can't be the reason", Ivysaur said, back to his old, grumpy, go-away style, "It can't be the reason, and don't ask why, because it just isn't. Can't we hurry? I'd like to get to that island before I die out of old age!"

But since Ivysaur didn't ask Kirlia to leave, she stayed on his back, smiling a bit to herself. She should translate a bit more of Ivysaur's words to Cimi, because she knew Cimi would like this Ivysaur. Maybe even so much, that he would stay with them, instead of going back to Adan...

And then Adan did something he should never have done. He grew tired of using the same moves all the time, and decided to ask Pichu to fight for him. Pichu, as Adan had noticed before, was pretty much all talk and no real ability. This was mostly because he really didn't fight a lot, and Adan thought he was doing this little spark a favor. Pichu had been a bit worried to fight in areal fight, but Adan managed to win him over. So, they ran over ahead while Cimi wasn't watching and waited for an encounter. Soon enough a wild Spearow crossed their way, and this is where Adan made his final mistake. After a moment of hesitation, he decided Pichu should fight the rather small bird. At first, they were both excited, but it soom became apparent that Pichu had no chances against the Spearow. Adan tried to withdraw, but without a Poké ball, the Spearow didn't care how far Pichu tried to go.

And Pichu fainted. While Adan was still trying to throw in another Poké ball, Spearow took Pichu in its claws and flew up to its nest. Adan was panicing, trying to get his Pokédex out of his pocket.
"Spearows don't eat meat, do they?", he muttered while trying to get the Pokédex to confirm Pichu's safety. He had only one flying Pokémon, and that one would've been no match for the Spearow. When he heard Cimi's voice, his heart stopped.

"Adan, have you seen Pichu?", Cimi shouted from several steps away.

After that, everything went wrong.

"Umm", answeared Adan, "How should I put this? He's... Well, he's up in that tree."

"Up in that...? Tell him to come down", Cimi said, rather annoyed. She was now almost next to Adan.

"That's not quite possible", Adan said, starting to panic again, "You see, he did not go there by himself. He was carried there, by a Spearow. And, umm, I think he's fainted, too..."

Cimi did not say anything. In a blink of an eye, she saw her dear Pichu in a tree, a Spearow guarding him, and most importantly, she saw what had happened. For a moment, her mouth was completely numb, and no words came from her lips. And then, suddently, a lot of them came, and in a very loud voice, too.

"You made him fight, didn't you? How could you?" she yelled at Adan.

"He wanted to fight, he just didn't admit it! You should've seen how excited he was", Adan yelled back, "Besides, my fighting is none of your business!"

"It is, if you use my Pokémon without my permission", Cimi screamed. She had never before been this angry at anyone.

"That's not the main point now", shouted Ivysaur, running towards them with Kirlia on his back, "We have to get him down, quickly!"

Kirlia translated this to Cimi, who immidiately calmed down considerably and tried to think. Before she had any time to act or even think thoroughly, Ivysaur and Kirlia were in full action. Kirlia ran towards the tree and Ivysaur was obviously trying to go behind the Spearow's back. Spearow decided to take on the weaker opponent, and as it took a dive towards Kirlia, Ivysaur quikly sent out his vines and saved Pichu from the tree. Seeing this, the Spearow was outraged and was about to use twice the power it had inteded. Both Ibysaur and Kirlia stopped for a fleeing moment, and Cimi saw that this was a major hole in their plot.

"Kirlia", Cimi yelled with all her might, "Use Teleport!"

In a blink of an eye, Kirlia was next to Ivysaur and the Spearow hitted ground on full speed.

"Confusion", Cimi shouted again, "Quick, Kirlia, use Confusion!"

Kirlia did what she was told to, and as the bird was trying to attack again, it hitted the tree instead and decided, all worn out and grumpy, to withdraw from this battle. Ivysaur and Kirlia hurried out of its sight. If it suddently snapped out from its confusion, who knows what it might've done...

When they all had escaped far enough, Ivysaur put the trembling Pichu in his rightful owner's lap. Cimi was trembling even more than Pichu, when she carefully sprayed a bit of potion on the poor creature. For a while, you could almost hear the heartbeats of Radeem, Kirlia and Ivysaur as they waited for something to happen. Cimi felt like she had no heart at all anymore. Finally, Pichu opened his eyes.
"Ouch", he said, and Kirlia didn't even have to translate. Cimi leaned over Pichu and cried with both her other Pokémon and Ivysaur comfoting the two.

Adan stood a bit futher from them. He felt really guilty, but he would never admit it. Rain on the road was getting more intense, but under the trees there was still quite warm and dry. Adan watched the silhouttes of a girl and all the Pokémon around her, and the warm-coloured light of the campfire was as fitting to the picture as waves are in the sea. He could hear Cimi crying. That was too much for him.

"Let her be happy with her little useless Pokémon", he muttered to himself. He could survive on his own. He could even find what he was looking for on his own. Besides, he didn't want to go near the Isle of Jade ever again. He lifted his bag from the ground.

"Hey", Ivysaur yelled suddently, "He's running away!"
Cimi lifted her head and watched Adan running ahead on the wet road. He had already gotten pretty far. It would be a real pain to catch him now.
"That idiot", she said to herself. "You idiot!", she shouted after Adan and turned to Radeem.

"It was pretty dry today, wasn't it?", she asked her Rapidash, "So I guess you're in pretty good condition now, and we shouldn't get that idiot get away with this. Want to run a bit, my dear?"

And boy, did Radeem want.

Alright then, in this chapter the story takes an interesting turn. Don't stop rading, it's not nearly over yet! The next chapter, 7th one, will be called "The Incident on Isle of Jade" and in the 8th chapter our friends finally reach the famous Isle of Jade and an interesting turn of events takes place. The chapter has no name yet, though. Anyway, keep reading!
Oh, and by the way, this chapter was really written on an impulse, so it's bound to have at least billion spelling problems. Also, it's not very long.

Chapter 6 - Adan and Ivysaur

Adan sat next to their campfire. After all the running he did not have any energy left, so he had no other choice than to sit still, tied down by Ivysaur's vines. He was so mad, yet he didn't quite know was he mad to himself, Cimi or possibly even his stupid Bulbasaur. Never before had he wanted to be a Pokémon so badly.
"Let me go", he groaned, mostly just to himself.

"No way", answeared Ivysaur, and even Adan guessed his meaning right.

"Adan", Cimi said, "Why are you being such a... such a moron? How come they let you become a trainer in the first place? Shouldn't you be, you know, more responsible and stuff? When I first started, they asked me and my parents a ton of questions regarding my ability to take responsibility over a Pokémon..."

"I am responsible", Adan yelled, "I am responsible enough to be a trainer! At least I haven't quitted my journey like someone seems to have done, so don't you come talking to me when you're no better!"

"I'm no better?", Cimi asked astonished with her voice trembling, "Just how am I 'no better' than you are? All my Pokémon were healthy and happy this morning, because I look after them, unlike some people I happen to know."

"You don't know me", Adan said in a low tone, "You don't know me, stupid girl. You can lie to yourself all you want about your little Pichu being happy, but how come he hasn't evolved? He wants to fight, it's you who doesn't! Besides, I do look after my Pokémon. They're all healthy and happy in their balls!"

"Oh, is that right?", Cimi yelled back at him. She was really hurt by the remark about Pichu not evolving. "How come your Bulbasaur ran away then?"

"My Bulbasaur", Adan's voice faded, "Ran away? I never said he ran away! He didn't run away... Wait a sec!"

Adan turned towards Ivysaur, whose expression gave away the whole secret. Adan looked closely at Ivysaur and gasped a bit. Cimi's heart skipped a few beats.

"All this time, he was here, and you knew it?", Adan asked Cimi.

"He himself said we weren't allowed to tell you", Kirlia said in her usual polite manner, "But your stories are a bit different from each other. I wonder which one of you is telling us the truth?"

Adan, thought Pichu.
Ivysaur, thought Radeem.
I don't think I know anything anymore, thought Cimi.
I wonder if it's going to be a sunny day tomorrow, thought Kirlia.
I can't believe this, thought Adan.

"We both lie", muttered Ivysaur.

"I beg your pardon?", said Kirlia in a happy tone.

"We both lie", Ivysaur growled, "None of those two stories are true! I didn't quite run away, and he certainly didn't lose me by accident. We fought, that's the truth. He told me to leave, and I was so mad I left. We have both lied just to have your sympathy. Don't blame Adan too much, it's been much more hard to him than it has been to me..."

"Ivysaur?", Cimi asked, very confused. Radeem turned her back on both Adan and Ivysaur and decided never to trust any stranger again.

"Why did you fight?", Kirlia asked and tilted her head a bit. She was constantly whirling, hopping and dancing in other tiny moves, which annoyed Adan considerably.

"We always fought", Adan said and looked at Ivysaur again, "Could you, by any chance, let me go? I'm not going to run anywhere and you know it."

Ivysaur let his vines loosen and Adan squirmed away from their grasp.

"But why did you fight", Pichu insisted to know.

"It's a long story", Ivysaur said and tried not to face neither Cimi nor her Pokémon.

"It's probably your fault anyway", Cimi said in a low voice and stared at Adan. This was, again, a bit too much for him to handle.

"It was not my fault!", he yelled, almost hysterical and pointing at Ivysaur, "It's his fault for being such a wuss all the time! Always blabbering nonsense about stuff like not wanting to fight and not even to start the stupid journey in the first place, even though that was Mother's last wish! Her last wish before she died! But he can't even pretend, for Mother's sake! It's all Adan's fault!"

Words flowed from his mouth at an unbelievable speed and volume, so he hardly had time to think what he was saying.

"Now you've done it, my friend", Ivysaur said with a deep sigh.

Adan covered his mouth with both of his hands.

"Why are you blaming yourself?", Kirlia asked, before suddently realizing. "Oh", she said.

"Umm", said Cimi, trying to verbalize her question, but she couldn't put her thoughts into words. Why would Adan say "It's all Adan's fault"? Something wasn't quite right here. Suddently both Adan and Ivysaur were looking very suspicious.

"I'm sorry", Adan mumbled. He was as red as a tomato.

"Yes, I think we're caught", Ivysaur said and looked Cimi straight in the eyes, "We're not at all what we look like. The starter Pokémon is the boy sitting in front of you, and I am his trainer... I am Adan. Sorry to fool you, but you would not have believed anyway..."

Cimi took a deep breath and looked back at Ivysaur, who stated to be a human, the boy called Adan. She didn't know what to think anymore, because 'What the heck is going on' would not have been enough. She looked at the boy and the Pokémon and could not see how Ivysaur could have been the trainer and Adan the Pokémon. Or... which one was Adan anyway?

"So... You switched... Bodies?" Cimi asked after coming to the conclusion she was crazy.

"That's basically it", said the human boy in front of her and grinned in a very confused way, "I once hatched from a Bulbasaur egg."

Again there was a long silence during which everyone tried to decide what to say, or more importantly, what to think.

"Look, we don't really know what to think about this ourselves, and...", said Ivysaur, but his voice faded in the middle of whatever it was he was about to say. Kirlia and Pichu stared at him in a way that made him feel uncomfortable. But the most uncomfortable thing was the way Cimi looked at him. He could feel her eyes even though he was not looking at her.

"We're eager to hear how you managed to get yourselves in this situation", Cimi finally said very, very silently, "If you want to tell us, that is."

And she said it in such a way it didn't really give Ivysaur and Adan any options.

//Edited! I made the ending of this chapter a bit longer and clearer and I think a bit better. I hope you enjoyed! //

I always thought Pokemon names pluralized were just the pokemon's name...

like for example the plural for of Stantler would be:
Stantler

So you're from Finland, eh? Very nice. I am rather intrigued by this story thus far, and will try to follow while continuing my own writing.

I noticed that, although consistently done, you tend to place the comma outside the quotation marks. I have seen few instances of this, and it usually reflects a writer's choice of style. Proper English dictates that the commas should be placed inside of the quotation marks. If this is a part of your style, then just say so and I won't bring it up again.

You also made another comma error, being that it was after a question in dialog. Here is an example of this:
Quote:
"Why are you blaming yourself?", Kirlia asked, before suddently realizing.
Since you already ended the sentence with one punctuation mark, you don't need another after the quotation marks.

Anyway, this is very nice work for someone who's native tongue isn't English. Just thought I would point out some of your most obvious mistakes so you can work on those before worrying about the more complex ones. I hope my review helped!

Well, I did not know that. When writing proper Finnish the commas are placed outside the quotation marks without any options, so I'm kind of stuck to that way. If it's okay, I'll continue keeping them outside the quotation marks. That sure was a great piece of information, though, and I'll remember this in the future.

Besides the grammar and spelling mistakes I often do because I write faster than I should, I also sometimes forget words. So, if you find a word that looks a bit misplaced in my text (ie. 'object' instead of, say, 'item', like I noticed I had written on an upcoming chapter), please say so and suggest a better word. You know how annoying it is to forget a word...

Here's the schedule for upcoming chapters:
Later today: Chapter 7 - The Incident on Isle of Jade (100% ready, just need to spell check it)
Saturday: Chapter 8 - Go Home, Cimi! (100% ready, has to be checked)
Monday: Chapter 9 - The Rescue Plan (also 100% ready)
Sometime next week:
Chapter 10 - I'll not tell you the name yet, as it may still change (I'm working on this)
Chapter 11 - Has a name, but I'm not telling it
Chapter 12 - Also has a name that is highly likely to change

So, keep tuned, everyone!
Also, this is what Cimi looks like:

I'll draw a real picture if someone wants =D She doesn't look like much as a sprite! It was hard to make that one, though.

So, my deepest thanks for those who have helped me or otherwise commented my work. Keep reading!

The history is revealed but the future gets only cloudier! Adan opens his heart in tonight's episode of "Journey to Isle of Jade". Tune in on Saturday to see what happens next!

Chapter 7 - The Incident on Isle of Jade

(Note: from now on, the one you knew as Ivysaur will be reffer as Adan and vice versa, because it's better to call them with names that go with their identities rather than appearences.)

Cimi sat in a humid forest. It was very late at night. In her lap, Pichu pretended to have fallen asleep. Next to her, Kirlia floated a bit above ground in a rather troubled stance and stared to the campfire in front of them. Behind them stood Radeem. She was feeling miserable because of all the humidity and rain of the last weeks.

At the other side of the campfire, there sat a boy with short, balck hair and grey eyes. This boy was actually not a boy, as Cimi and her Pokémon had just heard. In this human body there was a mind of an Ivysaur. So, logically - if you can say so in a situation like this - in the body of the Ivysaur next to him, there was a mind of a human boy called Adan. And this was all due to an incident that took place on Isle of Jade.

To make their story sensible, Adan had to start telling from the beginning. As with many other trainers, his story began when he had been eleven years old.

"I graduated from my school with the best grades of my class", he told Cimi. Of course, to Cimi it sounded like he said "Ivy ivy, saur ivysaur" and so on, but Kirlia translated Adan's speech for her telepathically. "I went to Pokémon Center like all the other beginning trainers in our town. They gave us Pokédexes and just as I had chosen Bulbasaur as my starter Pokémon, my father barged in. 'Adan, come quick', he yelled at me, 'your mother's really sick!'. Now, my dad, he's really of the more overprotective type and he panics easily, so I didn't think much of the scene. I followed him to the hospital, but step by step I started to realize this wasn't just one of his usual things. When we got to the hospital, my mother seemed just fine. But, well, she wasn't. They told me she had a colorec.tal cancer* or something, I don't remember what it was. I never wanted to believe in it, so I never memorized it's name... Anyway, it was obvious that she was going to die pretty soon. So, I decided not to leave while she was alive."

"Which made her unhappy", Ivysaur blurted, "She wanted nothing more to see you as a great trainer!"

"Shut up, how would you know", Adan said in a very annoyed tone, "Anyway, I already had this Bulbasaur with me, and I didn't want to return him anymore, so I kept him with me. I let him out of his ball so he could see what was going on. I had no intention of making him fight. But he wanted to fight! He wanted desperately to grow stronger and stonger, and I had to keep an eye on him all the time or he would run off to fight some poor wild Pokémon!"

"I wanted to be ready", Ivysaur mumbled so quietly nobody paid any attention to him.

"He's a handful, this Ivysaur of mine!", Adan said and laughed a bit, "Anyway, my mother would tell me to leave and become a trainer and I would say no. It went on for three years, and the very week my mother died she made me promise I would start my journey when she died. And then, well, she died."

A silence fell. Cimi felt like she should say something, but could not come up with anything that sounded sensible. She did not know how Adan had felt back then, nor she knew how he felt now, as she had never lost any family member. It was also hard to read the face of an Ivysaur when she had never seen one before. It was Kirlia and her limitless curiousity that broke this silence.

"What did she look like?"

"Hmm, she had black hair... I don't really know how long her hair was, it was always tied up in a knot. And her eyes were really dark, not like mine at all", Adan said and looked at his own face. It felt really weird, watching oneself like that. Expecially when the colours he saw were slightly different from what he used to see with his human eyes. Cimi watched Adan's face too, deep in her thoughts.

"Stop staring at me like that", Ivysaur said and blushed - a thing he could never have done as a Pokémon.

"Anyway", Adan said and stared back in to the fire again, "I then left to become a trainer as I had promised. I felt really bad, though, for leaving my dad all alone like that. He does have his younger sister, but I still feel bad about it. I didn't want to be a trainer anymore, but Bulbasaur disagreed with me. He kept telling me I had promised my mom, that my dad was expecting a lot from me, that I had the skill needed and it would be waisted if I didn't become a trainer. So, sometimes we fought a lot..."

"But not always", Ivysaur said in a really small voice.

"And then it was almost time for the memorial day of my mother's death", Adan said and sighed, "And because she had always loved jade, I thought we could bring her a jade bracelet or something as a souvenir. We were fairly close to Isle of Jade at that time, so I thought we could buy some there. You see, jade is a lot cheaper there than in anywhere else, and I'm not a rich kid. So, we took the ferry and went to Isle of Jade."

"The harbour was a nice place", Ivysaur told everyone and seemed pretty excited, "it was full of different sorts of Pokémon and trainers and mercants of all sorts. I think they sold everything there! And there were lots and lots of jade jewellery and other thing made of jade: they had little Pokémon made of jade, little statues made of jade, little trees made of jade... You could even ask for a jade sculpture of a Pokémon or a person, custom made to suit your tastes!"

"I didn't like the crowds", Adan said, "but there sure were some really nice little jade items there. I bought a bracelet as I had intended. My mom wasn't very flashy person, so I thought a modest gift would be best."

"I still have it in your backpack", Ivysaur kindly reminded.

"Really? That's great", Adan said and seemed a bit suprised, "So, I had let Bulbasaur out of its ball so it could look around a bit. Then these reporters came to us and said something like 'It's really unusual for a trainer to keep their Pokémon out of Pokéballs. I like you, kid. Can we use you two in a shoot?' I was really suprised, so I didn't get the chance to say yes or no before they dragged me off. We went into their van and they were really nice to us. They drove us into a cave, where the filming crew of some trainer show was already waiting. It was a really beautiful cave: you could see jade stripes in the walls and there was this pond at the back. It must've been the clearest water I've ever seen!"

He was silent for a while again. Cimi and her Pokémon could easily guess the story was coming to the part where everything went wrong. A log snapped in their campfire and sent flocks of sparks flying into the humid air of the forest. Rain on the road had stopped, but there was little hope of the weather clearing up.

"Now I don't quite remember where it started to went wrong", Adan said in a bit troubled voice, "but we started to get annoyed after several hours of standing in the hot spotlights. The director would tell us to do this and that and then say it wasn't good and it had to be made over. there were no signs of any food or drinks, and we were really getting grumpy. Then, the fiming team left the cave saying stuff like 'it's too hot here' and 'I'm hungry, let's get some food'. When we tried to leave as well, the director told us to stay and practice our part. And that's were Bulbasaur flipped."

"Yeah", Ivysaur said and sounded a bit embarassed, "I said it was all Adan's fault, because no normal trainer would keep their Pokémon outside their Pokéballs in a place like that. And that's where Adan flipped. He said he'd done it for my sake and I should be grateful. So, we started to fight again."

"And then came the crucial part", Adan continued, "When Bulbasaur said he'd make a lot better trainer than I ever would and I told him I'd make a lot better Pokémon than he had even imagined. A silence fell between us. After a brief moment, we both noticed something odd was about to happen. The pond in the cave started to act strangely. First, there were just minor waves, but they got bigger by the second. Soon a creature flew up from the pond. I think it might've been a Pokémon of some sort... It was small and blue and... I don't really know... I talked to us in a gentle voice and said: 'Would you really? Then let's prove that, shall we?' And there was this bright light, the lamps in the cave were turning, and I heard the director shout something like 'it's true, it really excists' and 'we have to inform our boss' and then everything went black. When I came to my senses, I was Bulbasaur and Bulbasaur was me, and we have both been miserable ever since."

"So, you need to get to Isle of Jade so you can get back to your original bodies", Cimi concluded their story.

"Yeah, that's about it", Adan said and sighed, "But Bulbasaur got even more difficult to handle after that. He said he was the trainer now and I should obey him, he tried to make me fight wild Pokémon and he even tried to put me in a Pokéball. I absolutely hate cramped places like that, and when he managed to get me in that stupid ball, I totally freaked out. I stuggled until I got out and after that I ran and ran, because I was sure he had lost his mind completely to do such thing."

"I have never disliked being in a Pokéball", Kirlia said innocently.

"Nobody asked you", Radeem answeared in her usual grumpy way.

"Aren't you two a handful", Cimi said to Adan and Ivysaur and sighed, "We really can't leave you two by yourselves, can we? You'd just fight and either one would run off or something. No, we're still going to escort you to Isle of Jade."

"You're concerned about those journalists, aren't you", Adan said in a low tone.

"I am", Cimi answeared, "To me it doesn't seem like they really were journalists. I think they're trying to catch the Pokémon you saw in the cave. It must be a very powerful one to do such thing without even being in a fight, just for fun."

"So what", said Ivysaur, "Aren't we more important? There's only a couple of days left before Adan'd mom's memorial day!"

"Ivysaur", said Adan, "I don't know if you've thought of this, but if they catch that Pokémon, it won't be able to help us anymore."

A silence fell, once again. They decided to leave as early in the morning as they just possibly could. Nobody said it aloud, but they all still knew it. Before going to sleep, Adan and Cimi discussed a bit about their route choices and ferry fares. Their conversation had to stop, however, because Kirlia started to get so sleepy she would translate everything completely wrong.

When the morning finally broke, the sun rose to show that the sky had finally cleared up. It was light blue and the air was chilly. Cimi, adan and Ivysaur didn't really wake up, as they had never really fallen asleep. They ate a cold breakfast.

"The ferry leaves around noon, so we better hurry", Cimi said.

And for once, Ivysaur, the infamous whiner, did not complain.

*For those of you who don't know (I didn't), colorec.tal cancer is a cancer located in the large intestine. I had to put a dot in the middle because it would be covered in stars otherwise. Seesh!

Hello again! Here we have the 8th chapter, as I promised. Our friends finally reach Isle of Jade, but will things go smoothly? Read on and find out!

Chapter 8 - Go Home, Cimi!

Finally, they had made it. The forest, the road, even the ferry were all behind them now. Before their eyes, a lively harbour town market square buzzed with the voices of people and Pokémon. Almost everything that could be sold on a marketplace could be seen: there were stalls selling potions, berries, food for both people and Pokémon, all sorts of items, Pokéballs... And of course, a dazzling variety of items made of jade. Their feet were finally standing on the firm ground of Isle of Jade.

The ferry ride had took almost an hour. The waters between Isle of Jade and mainland were tricky, and the ferry line wanted to keep all their passengers and ferries, so they made the trip extra carefully. During the trip Adan and Cimi had talked casually about their travels as trainers, but neither of them put their heart on it. Kirlia translated Adan's speech for Cimi, but she seemed strangely absent-minded, too. Cimi wasn't too concerned about her, though, because Kirlia was always strongly affected by the moods of her companions.

When the ferry finally arrived at the harbour of Isle of Jade, Radeem didn't let anyone ride on its back, not even Pichu, because her pride had been hurt in a most unspeakable way. The ferry personel had said that a Pokémon of Radeem's size could not be kept out of its ball in a crowded ferry, so Cimi had to dig up Radeem's Pokéball and put her in it. Radeem, as a Pokémon that grew up on a ranch, had rarely been in it's ball, expecially after Cimi had quitted her journey. And beacuse Pichu, Kirlia and Adan all got to stay out of their balls - altough there had been quite a fight about Adan being free on the ferry - Radeem felt that the way she had been treated was most unfair and therefore unexcusable.
But nobody really cared at this point. If Radeem was petty enough to make a scene about something so small, it was her problem. Cimi was worried about the Pokémon in the cave, and altough she did not admit it, she was worried about Adan and Ivysaur, too. What if the two could never go back to their original bodies? It was a bit harsh punishment for their constant fighting. Of course, her worries were nothing comapred to Adan's and Ivysaur's.
Cimi also regretted some of the things she had said. She had a tendency to be a bit harsh and feisty herself, but thinking back now, she thought she had been a tad unreasonable at times. It made her almost cry to think how hard it must be to Adan and Ivysaur. For a Pokémon that loves battling to be stuck in a human body that knows no moves... No wonder Ivysaur had made Pichu, the enthusiastic fighter, to fight random wild Pokémon - it was still unexcusable, though. Suddently she could also understand Adan's quietness and shyness. She was angry, but she did not know was she angry at herself, at Adan or at Ivysaur, or was she just angry in general. Of course, this all made her a bit more confused and emotional.

"It's a lot different being here as a Pokémon", Adan said suddently and laughed a bit, "it feels weird not to be able to see what's on those tables." He pointed at all the jade stalls with his nose.

"I can imagine", Cimi mumbled, "You want me to lift you?"

"No, thanks, let's just hurry", Adan said in a way that made Cimi think he was mad at her. Actually Adan was quite suprised at Cimi's sudden kindness. They walked in silence again.

"Say, how long does it take to that cave?" Radeem asked Adan.

"I don't really know, we went by car last time", Adan said, and was suddently very confused.

"You do know where it is", Radeem demanded in an annoyed voice.

"Well, you know, I kind of know which way to go and all", Adan answeared. He felt really ankward now. How come he had not realized this before? There was no way he could find the cave very fast without some seriously amazing luck.

"Oh, men", Radeem said in a way that made her thoughts about Adan about as clear as a mirror, "Do you remember what it's entrance looked like, then?"

"Yes, that I do remember", Adan said and felt a tad pround of himself, "It was very round and had these piles of stone on both sides of it... Also, there was a stripe of jade that was about on the height of my head and as wide as my wrist."

"Which way was it?", Radeem asked. Her red eyes had started to glow in excitement she could not hide. She stared at Adan's green Ivysaur face.

"What is this, an interrogation? It was the route 607 we took back then", Adan said and tried to look away from Radeem. He felt like he was going to blush under her stare, even though his current Pokémon body was not capable of blushing.

"I'm going to find that cave for you", Radeem announced in a royal tone, "Because I am faster than any of the cars they might've used. If anyone can find this cave fast, it's me. Doesn't somebody want to praise me?"

"Very clever of you, Radeem", Cimi said. She started to get her energy back, bit by bit. It had been years since she had had this much action in one week, and this was going to be the most exciting day of her week - or her year, for that matter. "But you have to take Kirlia with you, so that you don't have to fight any foolish trainers that think you're a wild Pokémon, all right?"

"This is going to be exciting", Kirlia said and hovered to Radeem, "May I?"

"Kirlia always has the right to ride on my back", Radeem said politely - although just half an hour ago she had denied Kirlia this right - and lowered her flames a bit. Kirlia sat firmly on her back and everyone could see how hard it was to her not to start dancing out of excitement.

With that, the couple blasted off with an amazing speed.

"If she's that fast, we'll find the cave in no time", Adan said and was rather content.

"What's this about", yelled Ivysaur suddently. He had been in the backround during all this.

"What's what about", asked Cimi. Something about Ivysaur made her always a bit irritated.

"Why are you still helping us? We can find the damn cave by ourselves", Ivysaur demanded to know. He hated receiving help, expecially from Cimi. He had always hated to get switced out of battles because of low health or poisoning or such, he hated double battles and most of all he hated the situations where he actually really needed help. He knew it was not the helper's fault, but he could not forgive himself for needing the help in the first place, so he took it out on others - like basically every other emotion he ever had.

"No we can't", Adan told him. Nobody understood him, though, because Kirlia was no longer around.

"Maybe you can, but this'll make it faster. What's wrong with that", Cimi tried to calm Ivysaur down.

"Everything! You know, this whole thing with the cave and the fake reporters and the switching bodies stuff was our business to begin with. We are thankful for your help on getting us back here, but we can find the cave ourselves, so you can go home now", Ivysaur bursted his anger out without giving much thought to his words.

"I'm worried about that Pokémon in the cave! What if something bad's going to happen to it because of you? Besides, I want to see it! Can't I at least get that much for seeing you two here?", Cimi blasted back, now getting angry as well.

"Please, don't fight", Pichu tried to say in the middle.

"It's no use, little guy, they're even worse than me and Bulbasaur ever were", Adan sighed.

"You said yourself that Pokémon must be really strong, so I don't think it'll need your help or even want it. I'm tired of you and your constant yelling. You're even worse than Adan, with your stupid cute Pokémon that can't even fight like they're supposed to. Besides, you don't even like us", Ivysaur yelled even louder than before.

"I don't like you! Adan's a whole different story. And being strong doesn't necessarily mean not needing help. The strongest of the strongest are what they are because of the help they have received! You're just so full of yourself you can't see that", Cimi said, in adangerously gentle and low voice.

"Oh, really? And you know this because? Cimi, I am sick of you and your company. Will you please go home and leave us alone? I would like nothing in this world better right now", Ivysaur said, but he still used the loud and angry tone he always used when he was mad.

For a couple of seconds, there was a silence. Cimi and Ivysaur stared furiously at each other and Pichu and Adan tried to come up with a way to calm them down, altough they already knew there was nothing they could do anymore.

"Fine. I hope you get back to your own bodies", Cimi finally said, leaned down to face Adan and smiled, "it was nice meeting you, Adan."

Then she started to walk back to the maketplace.

"Why is she leaving? What did you do", Adan yelled at Ivysaur, who of course didn't understand, "Cimi, gome back, you hear me? What about Radeem and Kirlia? Cimi!"

"Oh, shut up", Ivysaur said quietly and started to walk towards the route 607. Adan thought he had to make contact with Kirlia to get things straighten up, so he followed the human boy who carried a mind of a Pokémon.

A couple of kilometer further, Radeem and Kirlia had found a place that almost matched the description of the cave they were looking.

"See, the jade stripe and stone piles... It's all here", Kirlia said happily.

"But this can't be the place! See? There's no entrance to any cave", Radeem said. She was rather annoyed with Kirlia, once again. They decided to keep going for a while to find the cave Adan had described.

At a small street near the marketplace Cimi sat down. She felt awful and worried. Pichu sat on her lap and didn't say a thing.

"We have to wait for Radeem and Kirlia", Cimi said to him and patted his head.

"I know", Pichu said, "And you feel bad for saying things you didn't mean."

"Too bad I can't understand you right now", Cimi said and giggled in a gloomy way, because Pichu looked so serious. Suddently small sparks flew out from Pichu's pouches.

"What's wrong", Cimi asked the tiny Pokémon, when a pair of hands came out of nowhere and covered her mouth.

"You know too much, girl", a low male voice said. Pichu tried to give the mystery man an electric shock, but he was still too exhausted about his fight yesterday, so the shock ended up in being something that only tickled. The man shoved Pichu aside and grabbed Cimi.

"What is this", Cimi tried to scream but the hand covering her mouth made it difficult for her to breathe. Then she felt something hit her head from behind. The last thing she saw was Pichu running away like mad. Then there was only darkness.

Umm, the next chapter will be a bit delayed. I've got to do some minor detailing and like, so just wait a bit longer. And by chapter 12 that I'm working on now, this story has taken a few steps to a direction even I could not predict. Anyway, I'll post it either tomorrow or the day after it, most likely tomorrow. Thanks!

Hello, here we have the chapter number nine: The Rescue Plan! Next one will be up soon, it's already written and all.
And, I don't want to be naggy, but if there is someone who reads this, I would like to know that. If nobody reads this, I don't see the point in finishing the story at all... So, if you want to see the final conclusion of this story, please leave a comment telling that someone out there wants to know how this ends. Thank you, and sorry for being annoying!
Please enjoy!

Chapter 9 - The Rescue Plan

"The cave has no entrance anymore?!"

Both Adan and Ivysaur were shocked by the news. What in the world was going on here?
They stared at the solid rock wall in front of them. Radeem and Kirlia had led them here after deciding that this had got to be the place Adan had been talking about. No other place fitted his description like this did. The only fault was the obvious one: there was no cave.

"How can a cave disappear? Did they have some allmighty rock Pokémon to build this wall here?", Adan paniced.

"To me it looks like there never was a cave. See, the Jade stripe just continues straight trough the wall! It looks like it's been there forever", Radeem shared her honest opinion, which nobody really wanted to hear. That was beacuse she seemed to be right.

"And that's not even our only problem", Adan said. He felt miserable.

"What else is there?", Kirlia asked. She felt really troubled, too.

"Ivysaur said something to Cimi and she left", Adan said in a small voice.

"You what", Radeem shouted at Ivysaur.

"I told her to go home! She's still propably waiting for you, though", Ivysaur said. His tone and stance told Adan he really regretted that fight with Cimi, but Radeem did not have the advantage of knowing Ivysaur so well.

"I'm so going to roast you! Don't you think we're all useless when it comes to fights. I'm fully tutored and of a rather fine bloodline, too. You don't want to fight me. Why did you tell her to go home?" Radeem was furious.

"Ahh, why do you all keep yelling at me?" Ivysaur asked. He was really irritated.

"I'm going to get her", Radeem said let her flames rose higher than usually, "I'm going to get her here and she'll see this adventure trough. Just how selfish can you get? Sheesh! Kirlia, you stay here so we have a valid reason to come back, okay? And you don't have to translate that to him! Tell him you're here to see they don't escape!"

Radeem barged off and left Adan, Ivysaur and Kirlia to solve the mystery of the cave that vanished.

"You're unbelievable", Adan mumbled to Ivysaur and went closer to the solid rock wall in front of them.

"Are you sure this is the place", Kirlia asked. Her meaning was to lighten the mood a bit, but she did not succeed very well.

"Of course I am! This is insane", Adan suddently yelled in despair and sat down on his big, green Pokémon butt. There was a long silence after this. Adan tried to go trough every detail he could remember from the cave. The bushes seemed to be the same, the rock piles were the same... Everything matched! The wall must've grown there while we were away, he decided.

"Could you stop that annoying dancing", Ivysaur asked and broke the silence. Kirlia looked rather offensed, and that was the first time Adan had seen her like that.

"Don't take it out on poor Kirlia", Adan said to Ivysaur in a very strict tone, like a trainer would talk to a disobedient Pokémon.

"Shut up", Ivysaur said, turned his back at Kirlia and Adan and started to walk back towards the town. Suddently he stopped and stood there for a while, looking very suprised.

"It took that Radeem so little time to get Cimi? I'm impressed", he said to himself. And then he was suprised again.

"What if the Pokémon of the cave made this wall itself", Kirlia suggested, "To protect itself?"

"But if it's a Pokémon, it's most propably a Psychic type, if it can switch minds from body to body", Adan said, and then suddently realized. "What if the wall isn't real at all?"

He sent his vines towards the wall, and voíla! They went right trough.

"We were so stupid! Of course it's not real", Adan growled happily. He was just about to get up and walk trough the wall, when he heard Ivysaur's voice.

"Guys", Ivysaur shouted, "Cimi isn't with Radeem. It seems only Pichu came."

"She's that mad?" Adan asked Ivysaur, "What did you say to her?"

"Something's wrong", Kirlia said, "Cimi wouldn't do something like that. She doesn't like being alone, not at all."

They waited for two long and intimidating minutes for Radeem to arrive. She was exhausted, it was clear that she had runned faster than she usually did. Pichu on her back was also so exhausted it almost dropped off when Radeem stopped. They were both pale.

"They took Cimi! Someone came and took Cimi", Pichu yelled in panic.

"It seems Cimi has been kidnapped", Radeem said under her breath and tried to sound calm. There was a brief silence, but what it lacked it lenght, it made up in intensity.

"It must be those reporters", Ivysaur said. He looked rather agonized, and Adan knew he blamed himself.

"This man came", Pichu explained so fast it was hard even for other Pokémon to understand, "he came and said 'you know too much' and threw me aside and hit her in the head and I don't know what happened then but I ran and I ran because I knew only you can help her but now we can't find her! Was I stupid to run? Should I have stayed and fought?"

"You did the right thing, Pichu", Adan said and turned back to the cave, "Those reporters are our only clue to finding Cimi. We have to hurry to the Pokémon before they take it, too!"
The whole adventure had taken a turn for a more serious and dangerous one and Adan did not like it at all. They had to find Cimi! This was already becoming way too scary for a small town boy like him.

The gang started to enter the cave, when Kirlia suddently whispered:

"They're coming out! Everyone, hide, quikly!"

In a blink of an eye, even the massive body of Radeem was nowhere to be seen. 30 heartbeats later the wall that had covered the entrance to the cave disappeared. A whole crew of people came out. Some had cameras and reporter costumes, some had lab coats and some had uniforms that seemed like military clothing. With them, they had a couple of tough-looking Pokémon and two vans. The fact that they had drove their vans inside the cave made Adan realize these guys really didn't want to be seen. What they did in the cave must not have been anything legal, or at least anything very normal for a TV crew. Moreover, they had weird, round cage that seemed to be made of metal, electricity and spiky vines with them, carried on a special trolley. Inside the cage, there was the blue Pokémon Adan and Ivysaur had encountered before.

"We're too late", Pichu whispered to Adan in a deep state of desperation, "We'll never find Cimi and you'll never get back to the way you were!"

"Stop that nonsense", Adan disagreed with Pichu, "This is perfect! Now, all we have to do is to follow them to their base."

Pichu stared at Adan with an awful lot of respect in his large, black eyes.

Of course, it wasn't that easy. The only one of them who could really keep up with the vans their enemies had was Radeem. And she did not have the capacity of taking them all on her back no matter how strong she was. So, in the very short amount of time they had, it was decided (trough Kirlia's completely silent telepathy) that Ivysaur would ride Radeem as he wast the most suspicious of them all. Kirlia, Pichu and Adan could pretend to be wild Pokémon if they needed to make up a cover story, but Ivysaur had no excuses to hang around suspicious Pokémon catchers. After Radeem had confirmed the location of the enemy base, she would come get the other three. Pichu wanted to go with Radeem, because he wanted to be the first one to save Cimi. He strongly felt that the capturing of Cimi had been his fault. Radeem, however, did not want Pichu with her when she needed to run fast and concentrate on following the vans. Besides, in her words, "one annoying brat at a time is enough, thank you".

The first van started to slowly drive it's way along the seldom used dirt road that was partially covered by grass. The mysterious Pokémon was in it, so Radeem and Ivysaur took a bit of distance and started to follow it according to the plan. At this time, Pichu was so disapointed, he accidentally let a tiny charge out from his pouches. The sensitive radars of the military-clothed people noticed this.

"Hey, I think there are some Pokémon in the bushes", said a female voice.

"The more, the merrier", said a male voice and laughed. Adan, Pichu and Kirlia could hear the voice of footsteps coming closer. When someone touched the bush they were hiding in, they all paniced and started running.

"Don't want to be caught, huh?", said the male voice behind them, "too bad."

Three loud voices could be heard. Three arrows with sleeping potion on them flew, each with its own target and all three were all bullseyes. After that, there were three blue Pokéballs that each captured a Pokémon.

And so the plan to save Cimi and the mystery Pokémon had failed miserably.

So, this is the 10th chapter now, and boy does it have action in it.
I'm currently working on chapter 14 and this fic is very close to being finished, so just bare with me for a while and you shall know what became of Cimi, Adan and their Pokémon after this adventure!
But, for now, here's the 10th chapter. 11th will be up soon enough. Thank you for reading!

Chapter 10 - The Rescue Plan B

Adan woke up. He was laying in a bed that was just about his size. It was clearly made for Pokémon. As he carefully looked at his surroundings, he noticed there were lots of other similar beds, too. They were all placed in a long room that looked almost like a hallway. Somehow it looked really familiar. He turned his head really slowly.

"Is this a Pokémon center?" he heard the sincerely curious voice of Kirlia from behind.

It sure looked like a Pokémon center. Kirlia sat on her bed and looked around. On the other side of Adan, Pichu slept in his bed. There were some other Pokémon laying on other beds further down the hallway. Pichu had electrodes taped to his cheeks, Kirlia had one on her forehead and Adan had one on his paw. Next to their beds, travel-sized monitors kept an eye on their vital signs. For a while, Adan watched how the green line on the monitor danced to his heartbeat.

"Where are we", he muttered. He still felt a bit drowzy from the sleeping potion.

Then, a door at the other end of the corridor opened and a Blissey pushing a trolley came in. On the trolley, there seemed to lay some Pokémon under a white cloth. Two Chansey followed the Blissey as it walked past beds. Occasionally either of the Chansey checked some monitors on their way. When the trio suddently saw that Kirlia and Adan were awake, they didn't get too suprised.

"Ahh. Our patients are awake", Blissey said and sounded very content. At first, Adan was shocked to realize he actually understood wht Blissey had said. Then he remembered that he was a Pokémon now.

"Marvellous", said one of the Chanseys, "I can take the trolley from here, so you can chat with our friends here."

"That'd be great", Blissey said and gave the Chansey a dazzling smile. As Chansey continued with the trolley, Adan started to get confused and Pichu started to wake up.

"So, how are you feeling?" Blissey asked Kirlia.

"I'm feeling fine", Kirlia said touched the electrode on her forehead, "So you can take this off, now."

"Oh, it's still too early for that", the other Chansey said and smiled, "I'll be getting some food. Do you have any preferences? We have a marvellous variety of delicacies here!"

As nobody answered anything, the Chansey left to get some food she thought would be most suitable.

"And you, my friend", Blissey spoke to Adan now, "How are you feeling? Your brain readings were a bit odd, so we were afraid there was possibly something wrong with you. Do you feel anything like that? No headace or anything?"

"No", Adan said, and started to get annoyed. What was this, anyway? First they shoot us and now they ask what preferences do we have with food. All Pokémon food sucks, except the one mom made, he thought to himself.
"Where are we", he asked Blissey.

"Oh", Blissey laughed, "How silly of me not to tell! You're in the basement floor of the Sheffield Building now. This is the private Pokémon Center of Sheffield Co. and I'm the doctor in charge here."

"Sheffield?" Pichu said a drowzy voice, "Isn't that a Poké food brand?"

"Oh, yes", said Blissey, "but lately I've heard we sell jade, too. Isn't that great?"

Chansey came back with the food. Adan had a million thoughts in his head. Were they rescued by Sheffield Co. or is the Poké food brand with a good image behind all this? Did Sheffield Co. kidnap Cimi? No, that couldn't be right, they had to be here because they were saved by the nice people of Sheffield Company.

"Ah, I forgot to mention", Blissey said with a huge smile, "You're all the property of Sheffield Company now. Isn't it great to have a food company as your owner?"

The Sheffield Co. really was behind this. Adan's heart skipped a beat. Property of a Poké food company?

---

In another room closeby Cimi woke up. She didn't receive even half of the treatment her Pokémon and Adan were enjoying. She was laying on the ground, her head hurt horrendously and her body had bruises all over. She stayed there, laying down on the chilly floor. It was pretty dark in the cramped room she was in. It seemed to be a storage of some kind.

"I wonder what happened to everyone", she mumbled to herself. After feeling sorry for herself for a while, she slowly stood up. She felt a bit dizzy, probably because of the damage her head had taken. She tried to open the door by the handle, but of course it wouldn't open.

"You can't blame me for trying", she said to herself. Then, she checked what else was in the room with her. Oddly, it seemed to be a small Poké food storage. She took a jar of food expecially designed for fire Pokémon - she had eaten that one before - and started eating it. She sat down munching her food and drifted away with her thoughts.

---

As the last piece of food disappeared in Pichu's hungry mouth, Adan shot his vines towards Blissey as he had decided minutes ago. They had to escape and their only chance was to knock out Blissey and Chansey. This Blissey was, however, clearly better trained for battles than any normal Pokémon Center Blissey would be, as she dodged the hit. Unfortunately for her there were three desperate Pokémon against her and her under-trained Chansey partner. In a very short amount of time, Chansey was hit by Kirlia's confusion, Pichu's thunderbolt and a series of razor leaves by Adan.

That left Blissey all alone in this fight. She was mad. She loathed fights, expecially when there was no trainer and therefore no merit involved. She was very career-minded: she wanted to have her own hospital where she could help lots and lots of Pokémon, and now she had it. She would not tolerate this kind of rioting in her hospital. She grabbed her egg and threw it at Adan, who seemed to be the mastermind behind this mutany.

"Adan", squealed Pichu.

Kirlia threw herself in front of Adan, and just as Adan was about to shove her aside, Kirlia teleported them both behind Blissey. The egg bomb went off and shook the whole room. A couple of monitors let out an alarm, but they quikly went off. A patient Pokémon could be heard moaning somewhere. The smoke from the bomb remained in the unventilated room.

Blissey turned over and when she noticed Ivysaur and Kirlia, her face turned red and she was about to take out another egg bomb. Just when she was about to throw it, a thunderbolt hit her from behind. She dropped her bomb, which exploded on the spot. After getting over the noise and the shock, Adan, Ivysaur and Pichu hurried away before anyone would come and seize them. They had now escaped, but they still had to find Cimi and a way out. They busted open a door and started to search for a prison of some sort so that they could find Cimi.

---

Cimi had her ear glued to the door. She was sure she had just heard an explosion, or maybe two. She tried to listen if there were any noises outside her prison. There were no footsteps to be heard, no alarms going off, no shouting voices, no nothing. She felt really disapointed. If nobody was panicing, those explosions were completely intentional, not the sounds of a rescue team coming to get her. She leaned her forehead on the door and let a couple of tears roll out her eyes.
If not for that stupid fight, none of this might've happened, she thought to herself. How did they end up in this mess anyway? All she ever did was to help an injured Bulbasaur... She started to cry for everything there was to cry for. She had never felt more sorry for herself, which made her feel rather annoyed. There were better times to act like a fool, but her head had chosen this moment for some unknown reasons. The more Cimi tried to cheer up, the more she felt like crying. After all, she was hungry and not in the best physical condition. Minutes dragged on and she felt like a thousand years had passed after the explosions.

Suddently, she heard voices.

"I said, she can't be here. We should head for the lower floors", a familiar voice said.

"Why would she be any lower than we are now? Let's search this floor first!" mumbled another very familiar voice.

"Because that's where they put prisoners!" the first voice said in an annoyed way. There was only one person Cimi knew who used that tone when annoyed. Adan! Now that she had recognised Adan's voice, she recognised Pichu, too.

"Pichu! Adan! Kirlia!" Cimi started to yell and bang the door with all her might. It hurt a bit, but well, it was the only reasonable thing to do. She could almost hear how shocked they were able to find her so fast.

"Cimi?" It was Kirlia.

"I'm here! In a closet", Cimi yelled with all the air she had in her lungs. She could hear running paws getting closer to the door she was leaning on. Suddently she realized that Adan would propably open the door by pushing it in, and she withdrew in the furthest corner of the closet.

"You there, Cimi? Are you near the door?" The one to speak was Adan.

"No, I'm not", Cimi answeared. Her head hurt. Oh, how much her head hurt! She heard some rustling behind the door, and then something slammed very hard against it. The first slam wasn't powerful enough, so more followed. After some smashes the door started to give in. Flakes of wood flew off the door as it started to bend under the force used against it. The next slam then finally made it break. Adan rolled inside the closet and the air was full of dust, wood and flakes of paint from the door. Cimi coughed and shaded her eyes from the sudden light.

"Are you all right, Cimi?" Adan asked.

"I think I am", Cimi said and smiled in a way that looked like she was everything else than all right. Either way, she stood up and stepped away from the closet that had been her temporary prison.

"How long were they going to keep you here", Pichu poundered and took a peek inside the closet, "How awful! What about your head? Is it all right?"

"I'm fine, so let's get out of here! Where are we, anyway?" Cimi asked and tried to forget her terrible headache.

"This is the Sheffield Co. Building", Adan said with a face as serious as you can get as an Ivysaur, "And we think the Pokémon from the cave was brought here, too."

"Sheffield..? This is worse than I thought", Cimi said and was rather shocked about the news, " but if the Pokémon's here, we must find it first, don't we?"

"I think we should get out first", Kirlia said, "I think Radeem and Ivysaur might be looking for us."

They went where they thought the exit would be. Cimi opened a door and they came into a new hallway. There, close to the ceiling, there was a small window.

"Man! Why didn't anyone tell we're underground?" Cimi muttered and ran to the window. She tried to decide if it was possible to get out trough it or not. Pichu and Kirlia would be easy to get trough the narrow window, even she herself might've been able to squeeze her body through it. But there was no way Adan could get out that way.

"We could escape trough this window", she said and looked down on Adan and his enormous bud, "But you can't fit trough, can you? Aah, why do you have to be so massive?"

"It's not my fault! My normal body would go trough that with no problem at all", Adan claimed and looked offensed.

"Yes, I'm sorry", Cimi calmed him down and tried to ignore the fact her headache was getting worse by the minute.

"Um, I can get him trough it", Kirlia said and smiled, looking very confused. "I can use teleport, you know, but not for long distances or with many passengers yet. This, however, is not difficult for me, so I can teleport outside with Adan."

Adan, Cimi and Pichu all looked at Kirlia in great amazement. They had almost forgot that she was there, and nobody remembered that she was a Pokémon, too, and therefore capable of using moves. She had now solved their problem and freedom was just a footstep away. Cimi opened the window as much as it could be opened and Pichu went easily through.

"Nobody here", he said after looking around for a while, "you can come, too, Cimi."

Cimi jumped and was about to grab the window board and start to crawl trough, when three suprising things happened at once. First of all, Pichu saw Radeem galloping on the other side of the fence that surrounded the Sheffield Company Building. A more disturbing thing was that the door behind Cimi, Adan and Kirlia suddently opened and a man in a uniform appeared. He stopped and stared at them, and then took out two Pokéballs. The third thing was that Cimi, before noticing any of these two things, passed out and fell on the hard floor before Adan could catch her.

The Chapter 11 of 'Journey to Isle of Jade': Our friends are back together, but that alone doesn't solve their problems!

Chapters 12 and 13 will be up later this week and that nears us to the end of this story. According to current plan, there will be a total of 15 chapters and an epilogue. Not much left, is there? // Edit: Actually, I'm just finishing the 15th chapter, and yes, it really is the last one, if epilogue doesn't count.
//// Edit: Actually, I finished the whole fic, epilogue and all. So, now you'll just have to wait for the chapters to slowly appear here.
Chapter 12 - Little Joseph
Chapter 13 - A job to be done
Chapter 14 - Trust me!
Chapter 15 - Jade Bracelet
Epilogue (this will be posted with chapter 15. Maybe I'll draw you a nice picture for the end...)

Thank you for reading this fic of mine! I would appreciate some more criticism (instead of current 'none'-situation), but well, now I can imagine my fic is perfect. ^-^ In any case, I am grateful that someone puts up with my work and really reads it.

Now, read the chapter and enjoy.
Or else.

Chapter 11 - Mr. Joseph Sheffield

Adan faced a difficult situation. He was supposed to be escaping, but he had an uncoscious girl to save and a rather scary-looking man to battle. He knew Kirlia was not much of a fighter, Pichu had a lot of power but very little stamina and Radeem and Ivysaur were still far away. Moreover, he wasn't very used to the body he was in. In every battle he had faced up until now he had been a trainer with 6 Pokémon to choose from, but now he himself was the only Pokémon on hand.

"Don't battle us", yelled Kirlia and took a step towards the man in uniform, "We're just lost!"

"Lost? Here?" said the man in disbelief. Adan looked at Kirlia and tried to determine what in this world was she trying to pull.

"We came here with our trainer to ask about Pokéfood", Kirlia explained, "And then she fell on the stairs and hit her head and we were told to come down here. There's supposed to be a Pokémon center somewhere, we were told, and we were looking for the place when she suddently started feeling dizzier... She was trying to get some air from the window!"

"So that's how it is", the man said and smiled, but not in a promising way at all. "Too bad they don't actually let any trainers in this building. Our info center is in a completely different place. You must be the Pokémon that escaped from that Pokémon center of ours? I don't have a sleeping gun, so I'll catch you the old-fashioned way. Go, Poliwrath and Leafeon!"

He threw his Pokéballs and his Pokémon appeared.

"Shoot some water at them, Poliwrath", yelled the man and Poliwrath did what he was told.

"Dodge", shouted Pichu from the window. Adan and Kirlia both jumped out of the water's way, Adan dragging Cimi along with his vines. Immidiately after the water hit the wall, a flock of razor-sharp leaves hit Kirlia. She squealed from pain and - suprisingly enough - got really angry. She took a fighting pose and sent some magical leaves flying towards Poliwrath.

"Wait, let me fight them, Kirlia!" Adan tried to calm her down.

"Even I want to pay back sometimes", Kirlia said in a voice that was almost cold. Her eyes were blazing with eagerness to battle and Adan got goosebumps from looking at her. She made another attack, this time trying to confuse Leafeon with it. It was a direct hit. Suddently the Leafeon looked very suprised. Before she had time to do anything else, she heard Pichu's voice again.

"Everybody down, now!" the little creature yelled with everything he had.

"You'd better listen to him", said Ivysaur. In a blink of an eye, both Adan and Kirlia turned towards the window, saw Ivysaur and Radeem and ducked immidiately after seeing what Radeem was doing. A huge blast of fire came in from the window and hitted their opponents, trainer included, with full force. When the heat cooled down, Adan lifted his head.
The whole hallway had black walls, both Leafeon and Poliwrath seemed to have fainted, and their trainer leaned his body against the door and looked horrified. He turned around, opened the door and ran.

"He's going to call help", Ivysaur noted and Adan nodded.

"We have to escape quickly or we'll be done for", he said and looked at Kirlia. She was glowing bright, blueish light. She smiled in her usual, a bit confused way.

"I think I might be evolving", she said before she started to shift her shape. The light filled the whole hallway as she grew taller and taller. In a matter of seconds, she was a Gardevoir. She laughed a bit and everyone could hear how her voice had gotten lower and calmer.

"We should make our escape", she said, looking more gracious than she had ever looked.

"Yes, but what can we do with Cimi", Pichu asked, sounding desperate.

"I can try to lift her out the window with my vines after Kir... Gardevoir teleports us out", Adan said and looked at Gardevoir.

"Oh my", she laughed, "I wonder if I will ever remember my new name?"

"We don't have time for your nonsense now", Radeem said to Gardevoir, "We have to make haste!"

Adan put Cimi down gently so that she was in a sitting position, leaning to the wall. Gardevoir then teleported herself and Adan out. Adan slipped his vines in from the window and grabbed Cimi. Slowly, he started to slide her from the window. She didn't fit.

"She's too big", Adan said and sighed, "What was she thinking? This window is way too small!"

"I'm sorry for being too big", Cimi mumbled with her eyes closed.

"Cimi! You're alive", Pichu squealed, almost in tears.

"Of course I am", Cimi answeared very quietly and tried to smile. She still didn't open her eyes.

"But what can we do", Radeem said in despair.

"It's no problem", Gardevoir smiled, "I can go back and teleport her, too."

"Why didn't you say so before", Adan yelled and put Cimi back down.

"I didn't want to rob you of the joy of saving her yourself", Gardevoir laughed, "Surely you knew about this possibility yourself, too."

Adan did not say anything when Gardevoir teleported in and back out again, as he did not want to admit that the thought had not even crossed his mind. He felt really stupid and, in a way, offended. Gardevoir put Cimi down on the grass, where she opened her eyes.

"Kirlia!" she said, "When did you evolve?"

"It's Gardevoir now", Gardevoir said and laughed, "We had a battle before, just when you passed out."

"I seem to miss all the good parts", Cimi mumbled and looked around.

"We should get going", Pichu said. He was very nervous because he had lost most of his self-confidence when Cimi had been kidnapped right under his nose. With some help from Ivysaur, Adan lifted Cimi to Radeem's back.

"You have a nasty-looking wound on your head, Cimi", Adan told her.

"It hurts a lot", Cimi admitted, "I don't really know what that guy hit me with. Does it look bad?"

"Well, your shirt's all bloody", Ivysaur said, sounding a bit worried, "You think a spray potion would help? I mean, humans are not that different from Pokémon, after all."

"Hey, that's a good idea", Radeem said and smiled a bit arrogantly, "Apparently you can even be useful sometimes."

Ivysaur didn't quite know if it was sarcasm or not.
They sprayed some potion on Cimi and started to sneak away from the building.

"Can't you tone your flames down a bit", Ivysaur asked Radeem, "You're like a torch. I wouldn't wonder if they see us because of you."

"You want me to fry you, grass boy?" Radeem answeared, "I can't wait for you to return in that weakness-for-fire body of yours."

"Shut it, we don't want to be heard", Adan whispered. They were approaching a separate, small building that was built in the park surrounding the huge Sheffield Company Building. It seemed to be a lab of some sort, with it's low, flat roof and not many windows. They tried to walk as close to the building as they could so that they would be safe in its shadow. A window couple of steps before them was open and voices could be heard inside.

"This is where we saw them bring the Pokémon from the cave", Ivysaur whispered.

"Let's listen to them", Cimi whispered back. She felt a lot better after the potion. They sneaked closer to the window. The voices could be heard clearly. There were about three men talking about something inside.

"But it doesn't want to go into a Pokéball", said a middle-aged man, "We haven't gotten it into any of our Super Balls. They are supposed to catch any Pokémon, and they do, Mr. Sheffield, but this one just doesn't stay in!"

"You haven't made it weak enough, Professor Mori", this so-called Mr. Sheffield said, "have you done everything I ordered you to?"

"Yes, we have", said a third man, younger than the two other men, "We have used our best electric Pokémon against this Pokémon you call Manaphy, sir."

"Then why is it not obeying?" shouted Mr. Sheffield.

"We don't know, sir", said the young man, "But we're working on it."

"Why do you want this Pokémon so bad, Mr. Sheffied?" asked the frustrated professor Mori.

"Ah, I suppose you haven't heard of this Manaphy and it's Heart Swap, have you, professor?" said Mr. Sheffield in a very proud and enthusiastic voice, "Heart Swap is a move that can make two minds change bodies. Like, say, if my mind was in your body and yours in mine. You see, it's a very unique and useful move, expecially if you can come up with good purposes for it... And in the name of modern scinece, I certainly have."

"You... You have?" asked professor Mori, sounding rather worried.

"Of course I have", Mr. Sheffield laughed in a friendly way, "You see, my power over Pokéfood industry is very strong. By selling jade for years, my company has grown so that it now has power in all sorts of industries. Moreover, the Sheffield Co. trains lots of Happiny to become the hard-working staff in every Pokémon Center. We have gym leaders, TV reporters and even some members of the government on our sides. But there's something my grasp cannot reach. That, my friends, is the science industry. Have I tried to get there? Yes, I have, but the scientists do not obey a company nor an ex-scientist. They have their own little world with their own little professor gods - not on offense to you, Mori - and all they care about are their universities. But I want my share of power in their stupid universities!"

"But how is this Manaphy and its Heart Swap going to help you, sir?" asked the young man.

"I have invited the famous professor Itaka to inspect my new laboratories. Have you already met him, professor Mori? Ah, I thought you hadn't, he's a very shy person, this Itaka", Sheffield explained, "but he's a very remarkable person when it comes to his studies and he is well known and respected in the science world. I suppose you also know about the vice president of our company? I shall switch the minds of professor Itaka and the vice president! That way, I will have power over science world as well!"

A silence fell.

"He's crazy", Adan whispered and everyone nodded. They thought that the two men inside the building, Mori and the young man, also thought Mr. Sheffield was out of his mind.

"Then, who knows, maybe I'll come up with another way to use that Heart Swap", Mr. Sheffield muttered in a way that had everyone thinking this science nonsense was not his main plan at all.

"Ah, let me see that Manaphy", Mr. Sheffield said strictly, "I want to know what's so darn hard about capturing a Pokémon!"

"Yes, sir, immidiately!" the young man said and the three could be heard leaving the room.

"We have to save that Pokémon called Manaphy", Cimi whispered, "Let's climb in and find it right now!"

"You're not well enough to start rescuing Pokémon from mad people", Adan said in a way a mother would, "So leave this to us, all right?"

"No way", Cimi answeared, "Besides, can you even go in from that window? You're too big, and so is Radeem. You have to wait outside, not me!"

"It is big enough for me", Adan claimed, "and if it isn't, Gardevoir can teleport me in. But you have an injury on your head, and..."

"Oh, cut it already", Cimi muttered, "You're overprotective. Can't you see I'm fine?"

"Let's all go", said Gardevoir.

"Hey, who said I want to go", Radeem asked.

"I know you do", Gardevoir said teleported inside with Adan. The rest of them climbed in from the relatively large window and looked around. The room had some sofas around it and in a corner there was a table with all sorts of drinks and an ash tray on it. It seemed to be some kind of negotiation room. A more troubling thing was that it had three doors. Radeem stayed outside, "just in case", as she said.

"Which one should we take? Which one did they take?" Cimi asked and looked around in the room. There were no clues to help them.

"We just have to try", Ivysaur said and opened a door. Behind it, there was an Alakazam.

"Great choice", Radeem yelled from the window with her voice filled with irony. They all got themselves ready for a fight.

"Don't attack me", the Alakazam said in a small, tired voice, "I do not wish to fight. After all, I am merely a temporary visitor in this body and thus I should not harm it in any way."

"A temporary visitor?" Adan and Cimi repeated.

"A temporary visitor", confirmed Alakazam, "This body is Joseph's - that is to say, Mr. Sheffield's - body-to-be. I think that is the reason he wants to seize that Pokémon called Manaphy."

All right, people. This is it: the beginning of the end. The beginning of chapter 12 is very plot-filled but there'll be some action later on. In this chapter, we learn a bit about who is it that Cimi, Adan and the rest are opposing. We are also introduced to a whole new kind of item, and a dangerous one, too... Oh, and I had to modify the end of the last chapter a bit, since it had a mistake on it.

Again, thanks for reading, and I appreciate comments and/or criticism. Also, I'm thinking about eriting another fic with the same cast: Adan, Cimi, Ivysaur, Radeem, etc. Has anyone any opinion on whether I should do one or not? Are they nice guys ore do they annoy the heck out of you? I've already made up something plottish, so that's not a problem. I like using the same characters over and over again. It's nice to get to know them more...

Enough with this nonsense! Here I present you the 12th chapter of my fic. Please, proceed.

Chapter 12 - Little Joseph

"Joseph Sheffield's parents were both gym leaders specialized on electric type Pokémon", Alakazam told all of a sudden, "He was the second child of his family. His older sister Marianne was to inherit the gym, if nobody else wanted to take it. His parents and Marianne tried to convince him into getting himself an electric type Pokémon. They tried offering him Pichu, Pachirisu, Shinx, Voltorb, Elekid... None of those was to his liking. Then, one day, as he watched another challenger battling his parents, he saw something that made his heart jump. He saw psychic types in action."

Amazed by this sudden storytelling, Adan, Cimi, Ivysaur, Gardevoir and Pichu could do nothing but blink.

"It amazed him!" said Alakazam intensily, almost like reading a poem, " It moved him to his very heart! He adored the idea of manipulating surroundings, dealing damage and causing problems by the mere power of mind, without using any physical power at all. So he told himself: this is the kind of Pokémon I want to have. And that is, indeed, when I entered his life like a ray of light into an empty church."

"Excuse me", said Cimi, "Why are you telling..."

"However", Alakazam interrupted with a slightly louder voice, "However, I was to remain his only Pokémon for many years. He trained me, a humble Abra, like I was the most important Pokémon in this world. He gave me nutrients, he gave me berries and other treats, he held me in a Pokéball with luxurities beyond your imagination. And his parents were proud of him, they were indeed."

"Why are you telling us this nonsense", screamed Ivysaur. Alakazam looked at him in amazement, like he hadn't seen this black-haired boy standing there before.

"There is a reason I'm telling you this, but please don't rush me or you'll never understand", Alakazam said and closed his eyes, "So, if you will, please let me continue."

Nobody said a word. They were so suprised by all this that they couldn't find any sensible words to say. So, nobody said a word and therefore Alakazam continued.

"He became a scientist, studying the secrets behind the mind of a psychic type Pokémon. But he became frustrated. He was poor, nobody wanted to sponsor his study. So, he advanced rather slowly. After a while, he grew tired of being moneyless and estabilished this company you know as the Sheffield Company. It was estabilished to earn him some money for proceeding with his career as a scientist, but he soon became greedy. He multiplied his businesses and forgot about science completely. He sold more and more products, hired more and more people and started to bribe some folks on high positions. He became powerful and the power corrupted his mind. A scientist friend of his, Itaka he was called I think, then called him. He was worried that Joseph didn't care about science anymore. Joseph tried to convince his friend that he still loved science as he once had... But it was a lie, a fitlhy lie on Joseph's behalf!"

"I - I see", Cimi said with a trembling voice, as Alakazam seemed to be waiting for a response.

"You do?" Alakazam asked and then nodded, "You might, indeed. Why was it that he lied? It was because he wanted to know what was going on in the science world, the only place he did not have power over things that happened. It was at tahat time that he learned about this Pokémon who swaps hearts. He was filled with his old enthusiasm again! He started to train me again, feed me treats again... But he also fed me some strange medicine. I now know this medicine was one used for cheating purposes. That is why I am unreasonably strong and do not wish to fight anyone. I wondered what were the purposes behind this sudden training interest of his, and soon I came to know the truth. He wants my body. He wants to have power over minds, too, and therefore he wants my body and my abilities. That is why I am merely a temporary visitor in this physical appearence you see before you."

"I still don't understand why you told us all this", Adan said after a brief silence.

"I am deeply worried about him", Alakazam said sadly, "He is no longer the little energetic Joseph I once knew. I'd like you to stop this crazy plan of his. Also, this was to buy time for our staff."

"Buy..." A horrible realization struck Cimi's mind. Alakazam had told them this story to stop them from following Mr. Sheffield. We're so stupid, she thought and sharply turned around, but it was already too late. Three security guards had just entered the room, and they had some weird-looking pieces of metal with them. They were big men with scary-looking uniforms and a mean look in their eyes. To Cimi's suprise, they did not seem to have any Pokémon with them.

"Why you son of a..." Adan growled to Alakazam. The yellow-brown creature looked sad and bowed his head.

"I'm sorry", Alakazam muttered, "but Joseph is my trainer that I cannot betray, no matter how bad the situation is..."

"Why don't they have any Pokémon", Ivysaur asked out loud while looking at the security guards. The guards all took on a smile that was not at all happy or friendly.

"Heh, we have something far better", said one of them and patted the weird metallic item he had, "I suppose you haven't seen any before, since they're prohibited here, but back where we come from, they're as common as grass is here. It's called a gun."

"Hah", Ivysaur spitted back, "A metal pipe like that can't possibly hurt us when we have our Pokémon! Go, Eevee, Pachirisu, Beautifly!"

He threw the balls from his belt and the three Pokémon appeared. Both Adan and Cimi had a baad feeling about those metal pipes, but it didn't seem to occur to Ivysaur that there were other dangerous things in this world besides Pokémon.

"You'd better call them back", said another guard, "We don't like hurting innocent Pokémon."

"And you horsie outside there", said the third guard, "You'd better not do anything suspicious or we'll hurt these guys."

Radeem disappeared from the window, but she stood closeby and thought about a plan.

"You'd better not hurt innocent Pokémon", yelled Cimi in sudden determination. Adan sighed, as he seemed to be the only reasonable person left in this world.

"Try not to anger them", he whispered to Cimi and Ivysaur.

"Call them back, now", said the first guard, "Or we'll do something that you will regret."

"Oh, yeah?" said Ivysaur. He was actually really scared, but he would not show it, not to anyone, expecially those bossy guys with metal pipes instead of Pokémon.

"You asked for it", said the second guard, grabbed his pipe and BANG! A loud voice filled the small room and had everyone lay down almost instinctively. When their ears stopped ringing, they looked up. Cimi gasped. Everyone turned their gazes on her and were shocked.
The wall behind her had a tiny hole on it. The hole was surrounded by tiny splatters of blood. Cimi was holding her arm, but everyone could see the blood slowly staining her sleeve. Slowly she lifted her hand and gasped again. There was a tiny hole on her shirt - and her arm.

"I - I - I can't move it", she whispered and covered the wound again with her hand, "I can't move my arm..."

"Now, would you please call away these Pokémon?" It was the first guard.

Ivysaur didn't say a word, he just called the three Pokémon back. Nobody dared to move, they just stood all there staring at Cimi. Even Alakazam looked shocked and pale.

"What are those things", Adan gasped and looked at the metal pipes in a whole new way.

"If you could follow us, please", said the second guard and pointed at the door they had came through. Everyone stoop up, Cimi still holding her arm. Alakazam looked like he was going to say something.

"You will be punished", said the third guard to Alakazam, "For telling secrets to intruders. These are the orders Mr. Sheffield gave."

Alakazam was left there standing, so shocked his skin was more white than yellow, wondering if he had really betrayed Joseph by not betraying him.

"Cimi", yelled Radeem from the window, but the guards did not care.

As the door shut, Cimi leaned to a wall.

"Please don't make a mess, miss", said the first guard and pushed her so she walked again. A bloody stain was left where she had leaned.

"Cimi", Pichu whispered in great despair. He could not come up with anything to do for Cimi. He was so scared of the three men with those things called 'guns' that he let out small charges. He walked on with his tiny feet and tried to make eye contact with either Ivysaur or Adan as he was sure they could come up with a plan.

Cimi started to feel dizzy from the pain in her arm. It was getting worse by the minute, propably because of the shock that was slowly going away. This wound would not kill her, but her arm might be really in such a condition it would never work again. She was scared and could not think of anything, anything but her arm...

Ivysaur cursed himself. He cursed and cursed and cursed himself for being so stupid. Nothing good had ever come of his actions, and this was by far the worst of his achievements. He wanted to make everything up for Cimi, Adan, Pichu and Gardevoir, but could not bring himself to saying he was sorry. If Cimi was to die, he would surely have to run away and live alone for the rest of his life, or maybe with other Ivysaur. As a human, he had done nothing good. He wanted to be a Pokémon again.

Adan was swallowing tears of anger. He was so angry, angrier than he had ever been in his life. He was worried, he was scared and he was angry. He wanted to be a human again, a trainer with all his Pokémon. That way he might've done something good, but this way he could do nothing. All he could do was to watch how Cimi walked on, holding her arm, the blood stain on her sleeve getting bigger and bigger... And by every step she took, Adan became angrier and started to forget being scared or worried.

Gardevoir was the only one to take action. She spread her arms so that she touched every three security guard and then she teleported out before anyone had time to say anything. Seconds later she appeared back, smiling a rather devilish smile. Everyone looked at her in great amazement.

"Cimi, are you all right", she asked and looked at Cimi. Everyone rushed to her and tried to come up with a way to help her with her wound.

"Ivysaur, can you rip my sleeve off", Cimi asked in a small voice. Ivysaur did as he was told and ripped the sleeve off as gently as possible. Of course it could not be done gently and Cimi gasped a couple of times before the sleeve was off. Her wound looked nasty. She touched it for a second, shivered and then wrapped the sleeve around it. She managed to tie it with one hand. For a couple of seconds everyone just stood there and looked at the bloody sleeve.

"Well, then, better get going", Cimi said and smiled with all the might her pale face had, "We have a plan to stop, don't we?"

"Yeah", answered Adan and smiled back to her, "Let's go!"

In chapter 13 our friends dash towards the conclusion! What will come of them when they have to be heroes all of a sudden? Will Cimi's wound distract her too much?
Read and find out!

Chapter 13 - A Job to be done

They walked in silently and tried not to look suspicious. Cimi was wearing a lab coat that was way too big for her but she hoped it didn't show too much. Ivysaur was wearing the uniform all security guards had and he acted like Adan was his trusted pet and bloodhound. Gardevoir was supposed to act like a test subject. They had found these clothes from an empty working room and Cimi had conjured a cover-up story fror them based on the papers lying around in the same room. She was now doctor Meiga (because it actually was her last name), a woman passionately studying the subject of psychic type Pokémon. The security guard next to her was called Bradley, they were working buddies and he was there to see Gardevoir didn't get loose and start destroying stuff. Pichu was hiding in Adan's backpack, carried by Ivysaur. Radeem was outside the building, waiting for a sign to start her part of action.
Everything was set up perfectly for their plan. If it was to work in any situation, it would work now. Cimi and Ivysaur both took a deep breath.

They walked in the room and nobody noticed a thing. They had come into a spacious room with two floors. The upper floor had a large opening in the middle and you could see people walking around in the second floor. There were large, weird machines around the room but also more familiar ones, like treadmills and other excercise equipment, medical equipment and computers. Large shelves filled with Pokéballs covered one wall on the lower floor, but there seemed to be even more balls stored on the upper level. Scientists, assistents and security guards were working on Pokémon everywhere in the room: scientists with their lab coats and specimen Pokémon, who seemed to be okay with all the examining; assistents with their laptops writing what their instructors told them to write; security guards with their scary-looking guard Pokémon. But none of them noticed anything suspicios about their "colleagues" who had just walked in.

But the crucial part was now to come. Cimi gathered her courage and walked up to a security guard.

"Excuse me", Cimi said to the guard and tried to sound as important as she could, "You wouldn't happen to know where Mr. Sheffield went?"

"He went up just a while ago", answered the guard casually and pointed towards the stairs, "But I would assume he doesn't want to be disturbed, as he is with professors Mori and Itaka."

"Ah, is that so", said Cimi and shivered a bit, "But my results are most interesting and I'm sure he will want to hear right away. He told me to come straight to him, so.."

"Well then, get going", said the security guard and looked at Cimi for the first time, "Oh, your arm is bleeding! Are you all right..?"

"Ahh, hahhah", Cimi laughed, "It's just a minor scratch, I mean what wouldn't we do for science..."

"Doctor", Ivysaur called Cimi, "Your Gardevoir is getting nervous, we should hurry!"

"Ah, well, excuse me", Cimi said to the guard, smiling nervously. She tried to walk away as normally as anyone would. They reaced the stairs, climbed up and looked back down. The guard was still looking at them.

"This is bad", Cimi whispered.

"It's your fault for being a lousy actor", Ivysaur grumbled.

They hurried towards a door that was the most probable candidate for the right way to go. When Cimi was about to push it open, a middle-aged woman stopped her by putting her hand on the door.

"Are you sure you want to go there?" she asked Cimi with a genuinely worried face. She was wearing a lab coat and glasses and had a Rotom floating next to her. Her hair had gray stripes on the sides of her head, but otherwise she looked kind of young.

"W-Why do you ask", Cimi stuttered and tried to stand in a position that wouldn't show the blood dribbling trough her lab coat.

"Sheffield is there", the woman whispered, "And he's not that fond of interruptions... my, you must be new here, am I right?"

"Yes, I'm new, but I have orders to report to Mr. Sheffield as soon as I get results, and, well, I got some..." Cimi's voice faded away.

"Hmm, then, you better hurry. He likes to have his results fresh!" the lady said and let Cimi open the door. Just as Cimi, Ivysaur, Adan and Gardevoir were about to proceed, she stopped Cimi again by gently tapping her shoulder. "What's your name, new one?"

"I'm Cimi Meiga - I mean doctor Meiga", Cimi answered, very suprised.

"Well then, doctor Cimi Meiga", said the woman and smiled, "I'm Augue. I look forward to working with you!"

As the door closed, Cimi felt really bad for fooling the poor woman. Then the pain on her arm sharply reminded her of their job.

"Let's get this over with", Adan growled. Ivysaur took his backpack off and opened it.

"Can I come out now?" Pichu asked hopefully.

"No, you can't. It's far too dangerous", Cimi declined the request immidiately.

"Come on, give the little guy a break", Ivysaur said as he lifted Pichu out from the backpack. He took out all the five Pokéballs and let out Adan's Pokémon: Eevee, Zubat, Pachirisu, Spearow and Beautifly. They all looked suprised as Adan explained the situation briefly.

"If someone doesn't want to participate, that will be all right, too", he said to them, "You can wait in your Pokéballs for all this to be over."

"You really think we'd do that", asked his Spearow and gave him a terribly unrespectful glare, "After we have spent so much time in those darn balls?"

"And after all you've done for us", Pachirisu said and grinned.

"No, no, I think we're fighting", Eevee said absent-mindedly. All Adan's Pokémon nodded to him and turned towards the door in front of them. This was the only door in the hallway, so Manaphy and Sheffield were most propably behind it. It would be embarassing, though, if they weren't.

"All right, Gardevoir, go get Radeem", Cimi said and started walking towards the door with a determined look on her pale face, "Let's get this over with, my arm really hurts."

And so this private little army of Pokémon and two human teenagers went to face the crazy and megalomaniac president of a huge and powerful company with only their plan and the element of suprise to help them.

The door, of course, was locked, so they busted it in.

Much to their relief and also disapointment, this wasn't the final door. They had come into a room that looked a lot like a waiting room of a small hospital. Luckily, there was also only one door to bust open, so they busted it.

And behind that door, they saw Mr. Sheffield, professors Itaka and Mori and a man that apparently was the vice president, all staring at them with amazement. They saw about six security guards with their guns and Pokémon companions and a couple of assistants that looked really scared. But the most important thing was that they saw Manaphy in the very cage they had seen before, and it looked like he recognised Adan and Ivysaur.

"Interesting", Manaphy said, and was the first to talk.

"What is the meaning of this? Who are you people?" asked Mr. Sheffield, now back to his senses and therefore very angry.

"We're here for an important job", Cimi shouted as loud as she could to cover her fear, "We're here to stop your plan of taking over professor Itaka's body!"

"Excuse me?" said Itaka.

"Are you completely out of your mind?" asked Mr. Sheffield and made a gesture with his hand. Every guard in the room pointed their weapons at Cimi and Ivysaur.

"Let's see how you manage without those pipes of yours", Ivysaur laughed. In a split second Radeem galloped in from the door and took a deep breath. Before the guards could use their guns, Radeem had let out a huge blast of fire. Unbearable heat filled the room, fried every hair or everyone's head curly and made the gunpipes bend just barely enough for them to be unusable.

"Hm, I have to assume you're serious, then", Mr. Sheffield said and shrugged, "just what is it you want?"

"We want that Pokémon", yelled Ivysaur and pointed at Manaphy, "I want to be a Pokémon again! I want to speak with other Pokémon again! I want to battle again! It's lousy being a human!"

"Is it, now? Interesting", said Mr. Sheffield and smiled, "I'll also have to assume you know too much. Well, then, professor Itaka, would you rather stay a human or become a Pokémon?"

"Becoming a Pokémon would be very interesting from a scientist's point of view... Wait, are you serious?" Itaka didn't think for a second that Sheffield would use this new Pokémon discovery for evil deeds. The scientist Sheffield he had once known would not have done that...

"Of course I'm not", Sheffield laughed. He looked at Manaphy, who was following the course of events with a rather curious look on his face. Sheffield sighed. "Tell Manaphy to swap hearts like I told it to do or it'll get the electric shock punishment from before."

"But isn't it a water type", Itaka asked in panic.

"It is, and that's precisely why we use electric shocks", admitted Mr. Sheffield and looked stricktly at Manaphy, "We can't get it into a ball and make it legally my Pokémon, so we have to command it by threatening. It's Manaphy's choice, if you think about it. Well, my little friend, will you do what I asked you to?"

A light started to glow from Manaphy. He was going to do what he was told.

"No", Ivysaur yelled and started running towards the little blue Pokémon. A ball of light flew towards him, went right trough and continued its way to Cimi, Adan and everyone else.

"Now you've done it", Mr. Sheffield shouted at Manaphy and ordered the punishment to be given. He also ordered his vice president to take Mori and Itaka away from the room. Then he turned towards the intruders.

"What am I going to do with you? How much do you know?" he asked and straightened his suit.

"Cimi", whispered the large grass pokémon beside Cimi, "I am me again. I am Ivysaur. We returned to our bodies!"

Cimi turned swiftly and looked for Adan. He leaned to a handrail a bit further from the rest of the group and looked somewhat nauseous. Security men were approaching from all directions: there were five of them and undoubtedly more had been already called. Manaphy's shrieks of pain cut the air like tiny knives for a while, but then there was a silence.

What do we do, Cimi thought. Their plan failed miserably, but what can you expect when teenagers and their rather moody Pokémon try to infiltrate the building of a huge company? They had more Pokémon than their opponents, but there were people threatening them as well. Cimi noticed that a security guard dug up a second gun. All the powerful-looking watchdog-Pokémon and all the giant men were coming closer. And yet the most scary man in the room was Mr. Sheffield with his gaze...

"Why?" Cimi asked him. For a second, he looked suprised. Then, he grinned.

We're nearing the end, folks. I'm currently rewriting the next chapter, but it should be ready soon enough. I hope you enjoy this chapter.
Thanks for reading!

Chapter 14 - Trust me!

"Why, you ask me", Joseph Sheffield said and gave Cimi a rather sad smile, "I guess I went a bit crazy."

"Huh?" Cimi did not believe her ears.

"Scientists do that, you know", Sheffield said and shrugged, "Our need for knowledge surpasses our common sense and we go a bit crazy."

"Seems so", Radeem snapped at him.

"I thought you were an ex-scientist", Ivysaur mumbled, but Mr. Sheffield did not understand his words as he was a Pokémon again.

"I want to know how it feels to use those enormous powers Alakazam has", Sheffield explained, his eyes gleaming excitement, "I want to know how it feels to be hit by a psychic type attack, I want to know everything about psychic type Pokémon! I want to feel the power and control minds, making people confused or drowzy according to what I want!"

"But if you know you're crazy, why are you still doing all this", Cimi asked him. She was really confused. Sheffield seemed to be relatively sane, but still he had crazy plans like this. Moreover, she was worried about Adan, who was still leaning to the handrail behind Mr. Sheffield.

"I want to do it and I can do it. Why shoudn't I? It's not even causing any trouble to environment, society or Pokémon in general. There are a lot worse people than me out there. Besides", his voice faded and his facial expression suddently changed to a lot angrier one, "I have to get back to her..."

"Her?" Cimi repeated. Great, she thought, here we have a mad scientist who's making evil plans to pay back some woman. Suddently everything started to feel very unreal to her. She thought that this must've been a dream.

"Oh, great, is this all because some lover who dumped him?" Radeem let out a deep sigh.

"Whatever the reason, you'll never succeed", Adan yelled suddently, dashed towards Joseph Sheffield and hitted him in the back of his neck. Sheffield gave out a yelp and lurched forward. He managed to stay on his feet and turn around.

"Why you little..." he growled.

"Adan", Pichu shrieked and took a trembly step forward so he could help Adan if he needed help.

"It's not that great, being a Pokémon", Adan said to him, "When suddently all the things you've been doing for your whole life are impossible for you. Say, like speaking with human beings! And all the food you get is lousy Poké food! And, you know, it's not easy to use those powers when you're not born with them."

"Adan", Cimi said quietly after seeing a digital calendar on the wall, "Your mom... Her memorial day is tomorrow. If you want to get there, you'll have to leave on the ferry tonight!"

"What", blurted Adan, and lost the point he had been chasing. More days had passed than he had thought. How was that possible?

"You go ahead", Cimi yelled at him, "I'll handle this."

"What? Wait a sec..." Before Adan could say much, Gardevoir had appeared by his side and teleported him away from the room. This suprised both Radeem and Pichu, as neither of them had noticed Cimi giving any commands. Even Cimi looked a bit confused.

Sheffield stood there for a while, looking at the empty space in front of him. Even without looking he knew by the voices he heard that Ivysaur, too, was reclutantly teleported outside the room. He turned around and looked at Cimi with the most menacing facial expression Cimi had seen so far.

"Cimi, you freaking idiot", Radeem sighed and shook her head. Sometimes she felt like she was a hundred times more sensible than Cimi was.

"Why did you throw them out?" Pichu yelled at Cimi. She just stood there and looked back at Joseph Sheffield with a calm, yet confused look on her face.

"So, who's this 'she' you talked about", Cimi asked casually, as if nothing had happened.

"You'd like to know that, wouldn't you", Sheffield said, "But I'll have you thrown in prison for the rest of your life and you will never know!"

"Could you do that to me? I mean, how would you feel if you had to die not knowing something you really, really wanted to know?"

This had a visible effect on Joseph Sheffield. He was not a sadistic man, no, he was rather compassionate when it came to things like this. He had not had too much repentance over switching Itaka into another man's body, because he had intended to make Itaka a Pokémon, too. He knew Itaka would have been excited over such a thing. He also did not think much about hurting Manaphy, because they had the equipment to fully heal the Pokémon afterwards. But since he was a bit more weak and childish than his high position made him seem, this really made him think he was being too cruel.

"She's my sister", he finally said, "My older sister, who always surpassed me. She chose to stick with our family heritage, electric type Pokémon, when I chose psychic types. Ever since I was a kid she'd tease me and tell me how electric type Pokémon are stronger. I'm going to snap her back by showing that only psychic types have the potential to rule over humans..."

"You can't be serious", Radeem gasped, agonized by the utter stupidity of this man. Even Pichu seemed rational when compared to him, and that was not a compliment for Pichu.

"You really are out of your mind", Cimi giggled. The feeling of unrealness did not leave her, even though her arm and head had started to hurt again, and they hurt a lot. She felt like she was dreaming. That's why she had sent Adan and Ivysaur out: they had to get to Adan's mothers memorial party in time, and since this really wasn't real, she could handle a couple of bodyguards and mad scientists by herself - with the help of her Pokémon, of course. A faint thought drifted to hear head. Maybe this was all because the hit on her head?

"Sir, Manaphy is escaping", one of the guards shouted and pointed at the cage Manaphy was in.

"What?" blurted Joseph Sheffield and turned sharply around.

Since the cage was too small for Gardevoir to teleport inside, Adan had opened its door from the control table next to the cage. Sheffield could see how Gardevoir disappeared from the cage with Manaphy. Adan grinned from the control table. This took everyone in the room by suprise.

"Adan! What are you doing here?" Cimi asked in great disbelief.

"You should trust me sometimes, Cimi", Adan answered and duck behind the table in case those security guards decided to use their guns. He ducked just in time to escape from the bullet that hit the wall above him. Cimi turned to look at the scary men and their Pokémon. Cimi and Adan were outnumbered so they needed a good battle strategy. Before she could come up with anything, her Pokémon started to act by themselves.

Radeem blasted another ball of fire towards a guard with a Luxray as his Pokémon. It hitted both of them and made the Luxray let out a groan. This guard did not have a spare gun so he attacked with his half-dead Pokémon. The electrified tackle of Luxray hit Radeem who did not have time to dodge. Before Luxray could withdraw further from Radeem, she spewed out more fire to hit the poor Pokémon. After Luxray was out, Ivysaur grabbed the guard to his vines and threw him out of the room, where he was left laying unconscious.

"One down, four to go", Radeem grinned and turned around in a way she thought looked cool and elegant. She turned towards Ivysaur.

"Which one are you now", she asked the big green Pokémon.

"I'm Ivysaur now, I'm back to being a Pokémon!" Ivysaur answered enthusiasticly but gasped then. He remembered Radeem's threats of burning him when he got back to his own body. He took a step backwards and stared at the red, menacing eyes of Radeem.

"Congratulations", Radeem said and smirked, "It must be great not being a lowsy human anymore. Just to congratulate you, I'm going to postpone that frying we talked about. Come on, you slow idiot, we have work to do!"

Ivysaur smiled as he realized he had finally gotten a compliment out of the bad-mouthed and arrogant Rapidash.

Meanwhile, Pichu and Gardevoir were co-operating in beating a guard with a Medicham. Pichu focused on taking out the guard while Gardevoir had a one-on-one battle with Medicham. All odds were against her, but she managed to dodge most of the physical attacks Medicham tried to use. Pichu paralyzed the guard with a couple swift thuderbolts and then went on to help Gardevoir. It wasn't a fair fight, but who cared about those things anymore. With the help of some magical leaves and the confusion Medicham had gotten from Gardevoir, the battle was soon over.

Adan's Zubat and Spearow were attacking a guard and his Machoke. The poor Pokémon had no chances of dodging as both Zubat and Spearow attacked it simultaneously from above. Beautifly was carefully filling the air above guards with sleeping powder, as she tried to put only the bad guys to sleep and not any of her allies. It was a hard job, but she tried to control the sleeping powder by making the air flow with her wings. She managed to get two of the guards very drowzy, but neither of them fell asleep on the spot.

Eevee and Pachirisu were also co-operating in beating the last guard and his Charmeleon. Eevee had never wished to be Vaporeon as much as she wished now. The only thing she could do was to headbutt the lizard's stomache and imagine that she was a beautiful Vaporeon using a highpower water stream to instantly take down this fire type Pokémon. Pachirisu tried to keep the Charmeleon's attention to himself while he paralyzed the guard so that Eevee's job would be easier. When they were done, the room was clean of guards, and only a single watch Pokémon remained just to get his butt kicked by Ivysaur.

But as suspected, it wasn't as easy as that. After a couple of calm seconds, a whole plutoon of guards dashed in the room with their equally numerous Pokémon. There were so many of them that Cimi's and Adan's Pokémon could no more co-operate in beating them. They had to dodge bullets before Radeem and Ivysaur could take all the guns out and they all had a human and a Pokémon to beat. The guards didn't play by rules, and they had four Pokémon opposing Radeem and five opposing Ivysaur.

Pichu, however, had to pick fights himself. He proved himself worthy by taking out at least three Poliwraths by blasting them with thunderbolts. He managed to do this because none of the guards nor Pokémon excepted him to be much of an opponent. He was really mad because nobody seemed to pay any attention to him.

"I can fight, too", he repeated time after time while running around and zapping everyone on the way.

Suddently a sharp whistle cut the air and had every security guard and their Pokémon stop fighting and take their stand-by positions.

"Come back and I'll kick your butts", Pichu yelled, although he was already completely exhausted.

"Don't fight if you don't have to", Radeem whispered to him with a calming voice, "You brat. You can't beat them all."

Pichu was about to answer something but another whistle, similar to the first one, took his attention.
It had come from Mr. Sheffield.

"Enough with this nonsense", he shouted to his staff, "I thought you were well-trained, real security people, but here you are losing to children!"

While the guards focused on Sheffield and their own shameful actions, Adan grabbed Cimi's shoulder. He was careful to grab the healthy one. Much to his suprise, all their Pokémon were close by. They stood there pretty much back against back and all the guards were surrounding them. He hadn't realized how bad their situation had been, as the fighting had took all of his attention. However, there were holes in the intense wall of guards now that they had made some sort of formation after hearing the whistle.

"Come on, we should escape before anything happens", he whispered. Cimi looked at him contently.

"I see your point, but no worries, Adan. This isn't real", she answered happily.

"What?" Adan was shocked. What was Cimi blabbering on about?

"Aha, this is a dream, Adan", Cimi explained and wobbled a bit.

"You must've hit your head really hard", Adan said and tried not to sound very worried. He slid his hand down her healthy arm, took her hand and started to drag her away.

"Weren't you a Pokémon just a moment ago?" Cimi asked Adan in an unnecessarily loud voice. Adan tried to hush her a bit, but then she almost fell down. They both noticed a light behind Mr. Sheffield. Mr. Sheffield noticed it, too, and so did all his security men.

"Look", Adan whispered to Cimi, "Manaphy came back! I wonder what's it up to..."

"Sir, they're escaping", noted a rather young security guard.

"I don't care anymore, I have my Manaphy again", Sheffield said absent-mindedly in a dreamy voice, "You do whatever you want with them."

"Very well, sir", said the guard, took his gun and fired it.

Manaphy's glow faded for a second after the shot but then increased again. It was about to use Heart Swap. Meanwhile, Gardevoir had safely transported Radeem, Pichu and Ivysaur outside and had just came back for Cimi and Adan.
A split second after the shot stunning pain hit Cimi in the back and pierced her like a drill. She lunged forwards to stay on her feet and grabbed Adan's arm.

"What did you do", screamed Joseph Sheffield, awoken from his thoughts by the gunshot. He might have been a crazy megalomaniac, but he sure didn't like killing people.

"Why do they allways shoot me", Cimi mumbled, "And this was supposed to be a dream."

"Cimi", Adan gasped in panic and grabbed her to hold her up.

"You mustn't touch my arm", Cimi whispered and looked grumpily at Adan. She coughed and a small amount of blood came from her mouth.

"Cimi", Adan whispered and tried not to yell with the full force of his lungs. He spent a second to collect his toughts and tried to appear calm.

"You'll just have to trust me now", he said firmly, squeezed Cimi against his body and got ready for teleportation. Cimi could hear how another shot was made, followed by a lot of yelling by Mr. Sheffield and other guards. She could hear that Manaphy released the move it had been charging for quite a while now and the security men all shouted in panic. The last thing she could hear was Pichu's desperate cries. That little fellow takes everything so serious, she thought, and then the sound of her blood rushing on in her veins was everything there was.

She was alive. But would she stay that way?
