anyway, what is the reputation system for?

You give points to people who you think made a good point in their posts, I think.

From what I know, 10 points is what everyone start with.

yep everyone starts out with 10 points..its basically shows peoplez popularity..i have 40 points

It's not a very good indicator of one's popularity, though. This is why I disabled mine. I got two boxes though
