Pokemon: Enhanced

I was thinking to myself... there should be a Pokemon game with no limitations, then I realised that would be difficult (and I am pretty lazy). The next thing I thought was... It wouldn't be too difficult to have a game where you do what you want - when you want. So now I'm going to make a hack with everything I've ever wanted in a hack.

Features:

• Ability to go anywhere whenever you want (after you get your first pokemon).
• A system in which there is never an easy battle, wild pokemon level up with you, and trainers are actually difficult.
• Ability to become a gym leader (via side quests)
• Ability to - if you want - battle trainers who complete the Elite Four, as the Champion.
• An actual anime-style Pokemon League in which you are randomly matched up with random trainers.
• Join a criminal organisation (Team Rocket?) and become leader.
• Join and become leader of other groups.
• Help complete strangers out - or completely screw with their lives.

Now my question to you... is it worth making something so big? And remember, it's not a question of "can I?" it's a question of "should I?".

Well, if it's really everything YOU want, then shouldn't you decide? It's a great idea, and I agree it would be great, but it's really but to you as the creator what you're going to do / how to do it and everything. I'm sure other people, also, would more than love to play through something like this. If you end up going for it, then you have my best wishes as I would be one of the many who would sit down to play this - even if it was just a beta, or alpha, or something.

I doubt you can include all the features you mentioned and some look impossible but you can try if you want.

I just want him to know his task is difficult and not everyone can create a successful hack.

It really isn't very difficult to make a game to go where you want whenever at all.

There is such a thing as too much freedom, though, so beware.
A game like this will be relying on seemingly endless flagchecking and if situations, and it would be easy to leave a loose end on a situation giving the player access to something they shouldn't have access to. That would be the technical part. However, i'm sure you're aware of this.

You could also be so free that you're bored with it.
Kind of like a teenager with both their license and car, yet nowhere they really wants to go.
If you pit a lot of options at the player but no real point to it all, the player will easily become bored. You should keep yourself open to ideas, especially something of a series of interesting back stories.

I'll see how I go with mapping, however that is one of my downfalls.

I'm excited to see what else you come up with.

There wouldn't be too many problems that I can see, plus I would hope that any bugs would be reported when they first happen so I can get to fixing them straight away.

No doubt I will still need a main story though. The only major issue I can think of is my lack of immagination, so I'll need to get some help in that department.

I've not decided to make this, if anyone has any more ideas please post on this thread (unless you want them to be secret, in which case PM me).

I've been writing scripts for it for a while now. The release still won't be for a while, though. :\

This is a great idea. I like it. It's sort of like a Battle Frontier as the whole game, mixed with a whole bunch of other awesome elements. Yes, it is worth making something so big, unless you're talking about what you get in return... :3

I'd say it's possible but not without redoing the game.
For example I've seen a german pokemon gold hack which seems to have some epic events which seem impossible for gold.

For the gym whilst ur a gym leader you could use the secret base scripts for it ... but have the gym tilesets

COuld you choose what type of pokemon gym you want? Like grass, fire, water, ghost, etc....
