Pokémon FireRed Hack: Pokémon: Ultima Version

since this thread has not been approved anywhere else, i'll start here.

Hello! my name is 007manyo, and i would like to show you all the hack i am making.

Pokémon: Ultima Version

INTRO

Spoiler:

you start in your hometown and receive your first pokemon. you go on to the next route, and on to the next town, with an OPEN gym, it doesn't have that viridian city-esque. you can choose to move on to the next town OR challenge the gym. in this game, you won't be receiving badges, you will receive marks, as follows:

1. Mark of the Powerful
2. Mark of the Swift
3. Mark of the Brave
4. Mark of the Cunning
5. Mark of the Mystic
6. Mark of the Royal
7. Mark of the Witty
8. Mark of the Hidden

after you receive all of the marks, you face the unstoppable 6. similar to the elite 4, the unstoppable 6 have level 88-100 pokemon, and you face the ultimate leader at the end. defeat him, and you receive the Mark of the Hero, similar to defeating your rival at the end of FR/LG and becoming champion. you become respected by the U6, but they want their title as leaders back, so they'll keep on battling you, time after time. but, you'll need to see a psychic to send you into the past to do it, because the area where you beat the U6 will be blocked off by rocks.

i chose to do this hack in emerald not only for its clock abilities, but also for its opposite-gendered rivals.
This hack is now based off of Pokemon FireRed version for it's extra regions, lower crash rate and extra space.

PLANNED features:

TIMELINE:

1. new sprites, scripts, and maps
2. 25 new Fakemon AND/OR Gen4 pokemon
3. new titlescreen
4. Somewhat comedic storyline
5. Test version released to check for improvements or glitches
6. the rest is TBA, depends on how fast timeline progresses

Progress

* 11/27/09: scrapped emerald base, as it crashed.
* 12/5/09: changed thread name due to changed rom base.
* 12/6/09: Created supporter bars! yay!
* 12/7/09: started editing first town on the new rom!
* 12/8/09: nothing...
* 12/20-22/09: recruited new members to moonshine games!
* 12/25/09: Happy X-Mas '09! here's your present: SCREENZ!!!
actually, i'm still getting the new ones.
* 12/30/09: almost new years... im following my previous announcement of the pre-alpha release date and will be releasing a demo including 2 towns, 1 route and a secret warp to a mountain containing an ultra-powerful pokemon on 1/1/10!
* 1/2/10: um........ not much.....

i'll be going back to school soon, so production on the hack will need to get in motion on 1/4/10.

We don't need screenshots? No one will take seriously this hack without proof that it's worth our time.

I agree with DeathWish, as soon as you get any screenshots, it is worth posting them. Don't say "I don't need them here", that may be true, but that attitude sounds kinda like... Well, you don't care. You should have said "I don't have any yet, as I have just started", as then at least it is true.

Features aren't really needed in the Scrapbox, as you have a story, but it is advisable to add them, to tell us what exactly is unique or at least in your hack. This helps people criticise it better, and give you advise on how to improve.

Story time. Doesn't really say WHY you join the teams. Normally having a battle helping the police or evil team only gets you thanks. You may need to expand that, as it doesn't really seem... Well, good. If you added about the battle and then a training course to join the team, then I can see that working, but as you left it with no Features, or even a hint of what is next (like "train to become a hero/a villain, and help eradicate/take over the world with Team Rocket"). Because, you left us with no idea what your hack will be like. Add a little bit more, telling us the Features, and also how we join the Police/Team Rocket, as joining after helping them wouldn't really happen that much, but perhaps being seen as having potential and then doing a training course is believable.

You're hacking Pokemon Emerald, it crashes, everyone knows that. A-map was designed before Emerald came out, so opening a rom with different database in a a-map is a no-go.
Why don't you tell us when or where the rom crashes? Maybe hackers would be able to help, somehow.

BTW, im changing the ROM base to FR, to make things 10 TIMES EASIER!!!!
(plus, i get 3 more regions!)

Personally have a hatred for the palettes, I fear they'd stop me playing the game all together...

The pallettes are... Kinda bright to the eyes. Please, leave them at the default pallettes, it will make playing this way better. Better to play with original tiles and pallettes than be blinded by pallettes that are sore to the eyes.

Actually, I beg you to change them back. I already have a headache, and no joke, it makes it worse...

Cool, looks good so far, also I agree with deviation, the colours are sort of strange. They look cool at first but i couldn't concentrate on them properly :D

let me re-take the screens, i made the pallettes a little more blue as i find it too hard to change back to the original and also too hard to use a new ROM to get the defaults.

also, tell me if their too gloomy this time.

it's very sad that this forum will be closing in february...

I still think you should improve your mapping style. Look at some tutorials, maybe?
You see, your maps are pretty empty. You could fill the empty space with trees, water or mountains. Your palettes also need fixing.
I can see 3 screeshots that are the same. XD I also don't like Lunatone, why do i HAVE to raise it as my first Pokemon?

lunatone is temporary, i may replace it with fakemon.
and they'll be good ones, too.
ANYWAY, silent--echo made the second town. i made the first one.
I MAY look at some tuts, but i don't really think i need them.
