your tiles are great but the grass next to the trees is really too bright, maybe you should first put dark-green grass and then the light grass just around the houses........

@josh: I haven't really noticed the tree's shadow as being out of place. I probably am overlooking this, but I can't really see what's wrong with it.

@558122_DG: I think the colors are fine for the time being, since I would much rather have bright colors than have that washed out, pale feeling the FR palettes usually give off. I'll be playing around with palettes throughout the production of this hack most likely, so I'm sure things like tree shadows (which I can't really see as being a big deal) or degrees of brightness can wait for a little while.

@simdu: If you were referring to the almost white grass, this new map should hopefully be better!

That's a nice, fairly original tile change, there However, I'd suggest trying to find new mountain tiles, darker ones- they look a bit too bright with those trees.
Although, I have to admit, the tile change made this look much less like Pallet Town (I'd been lurking around this thread every so often, just never posted). It's good that it looks different now. Keep it up

It wasn't just me who created the map; I drew a pencil-sketched version and had another artist color it over for me. That artist, Xous, is responsible for making it look so pretty. =)

Small update for now. I'm going to be busy for a while now.

As I alluded to in my last post, I have inserted gym tiles for my game, although I need to work on palette editing them. It seems like school is going to be pretty demanding for at least the next week, although I would just LOVE to give myself a birthday present in the form of a beta.

I viewed ALL of the maps you made and your mapping has turned out better and better so I'd say you should remake the first maps you showed
The maps you've just made look a lot better than old ones.

Also (my opinion) reduce the amount of grass in routes since now in most of them too many wild pokemon battles happen

Thank you! I agree, I think the later maps I made were a lot better than the first ones I made. As I go through the region, I am editing the maps and reducing the amount of open space they contain, or adding things in order to fill in space.

I think one of the more significant changes that I'll be making is that of Bloomful City:

Actually, I'm showing you guys a preview of this not for the purpose of the graphics, as those are currently being changed. (In fact, I'm adding in my own greenhouse tiles later on; that building at the top is and always has been essentially a stand-in.) Instead, I want to know what you guys think of the layout this town now has. What changes do you think should be made to it?

This looks like a good hack and I am sure it will go far. If there is anything I can ever do to help make this hack better then just let me know! (I'm no good a trainer sprites so I can't do that.) But i'll happily do overworlds, maps and support banners. Oh and I made one for you if you want it. Here it is:

I'm very close to releasing a beta--I've been spending some time solving a few dilemmas, and I know I've said I'll be releasing a beta soon before...but this time I am sure of it!

By next weekend there shall be a beta release of Pokemon Rose Version available for download for everyone to play. Not too much longer from now, we will be experiencing the one-year anniversary of the Pokemon Rose hack itself (it was some time this month last year in which I started to edit the rom), in case that has any significance to you guys.

So mark your calendars, or don't: April 11th, the anticipated release date of Pokemon Rose, beta 1!

I can also do minor scripts with pokescript.

I can make someone say something and then walk somewhere. The problem is once they walk there, they will appear there again if you use a warp. Its ok if maps are connected but... Well here it is.

This could turn out to be a great hack. One suggestion, maybe you could put an event for catching a shiny pokemon, remember lake of rage red gyarados was a hit! And beign able to catch other starters would be really nice. Anyway good luck!!!

As you can see, it's now April 12th where I live. I have decided that instead of rushing the hack's beta for a deadline, I'm going to work on it and give it the full amount of attention to detail that it deserves. Augmented by the fact that my life tends to push working on Rose to the outer edges of my schedule, I think it's for the best that I release this at a later time instead.

With that said, I plan for the first beta to allow the player to go all the way up to the first gym town (Bloomful City).

April 22nd is going to be considered the one-year anniversary of the Pokemon Rose hack. I think 11 days from now is more than enough time to work on the things I have to do before I can reach my goal.

Acctually not a bad idea. It's better not to rusk this kind of things cause BETA 1 is a big thing for a hack in progress. Anyway you're keeping us all in anticipation. Best of luck for finishing BETA 1.
