So I'm working on another fangame.
Before I work on it more and showcase it, I need your opinions on my storyline.
I was aimed to create a original storyline, one that was deep and would absorb the player and keep them guessing about what will happen next. Has this story reached these goals?
Spoiler:
<The past>
It was 3,000 years ago.
The PokèKnights existed to fight off the darkness that relentlessly attempted to use
the power of powerful Pokèmon to control the world to the it's will's content.
A group of three people formed the PokèKnights, a group dedicated to fending
off the darkness. In doing so, they created a seal on the powerful Pokèmon,
However, word of this outraged the people, and made them think that the PokèKnights
believed they controlled the land. The darkness stepped in, and recruited the outraged
people. This group became to be known as the Shadow Knights.
Both groups, PokèKnights and Shadow Knights, were equally matched in power. A war
broke out between them. The war was so intense, it wiped out every PokèKnight.
It was said though, that the Shadow Knight leader had the power to time travel,
and traveled away before he was consumed by the war.
The question is...is this leader from the past, present, or future?

<Today>
Rinjou, a region that was believed to be the past home of the PokèKnight's seal,
is at a civil war. Rinjou was broken up into two sectors, East and West.
The war is getting as intense as the war with the PokèKnights and the Shadow Knights
was said to be. Many people have attempted to shatter the seal for the powerful Pokèmon,
and to end this war.
A young child living in Sunnydale Town is interested in the history of the PokèKnights,
like many trainers. The child has had contact with Professor Oak, a lead
researcher for Pokèmon, however, his focus has shifted towards the PokèKnights.
The child went out for a walk, and was about to leave town, when the child
spotted a Dratini in the distance. The Dratini found it's way into Sunnydale Town,
drawn by the sweet, scent of honey, and started to travel around town.
The child, alarmed by what happened, tried to stop the Dratini. Eventually,
they befriended each other, and decided to go look around Rinjou for clues on the
PokèKnights...

Right now, here is some information:
- The male protagonist is Wally from R/S/E. The female protagonist is undecided as of yet.
- Heatran is the main/token Pokèmon of Legacy.
- In Legacy, you collect chapters of information on the PokèKnights. There are 31 chapters in all, and some are very well hidden.
- Other extras will include things such as time attack. (Get through a dungeon before a certain time)

C&C welcome.

A good idea, PokeKnight and all things. ( Looks like final fantasy + pokemon ). Tell me what you need, I might help.

Mostly help with sprites (overworlds and trainer sprites, and I guess misc. things like battle boxes), and a basic idea on scripting minigames. (For like game corner etc).

I'm very serious about this project. I want it to do well, and be completed.

I already have a titlescreen actually...it's not amazing, and if you want to rate it or do another I'm 100% fine with that.

The font is a little whacky, I know...umm...the purple background has a meaning in the game...and there is some sad music playing.
It's all giving the hint this is going to be a deep-plot Pokèmon game.

I do like it, I just don't think the background goes with...well...Legacy itself.
I have a list of ideas for backgrounds if your willing to give it another shot...
Spoiler:
- A darkness-type backround, so with shadows and such.
- Mountains
- Volcano

Other then that, it's really good...
Oh, and you forgot to remove the black area in-between the legs on the right side.

I love the storyline-it looks like you put a lot of thought into it. The idea of a Civil War is intriguing and so is the PokeKnights aspect of the storyline.

But to state the obvious, it does seem like a lot of effort and that it would be very time consuming. However, I can't give you the expert critique that you would need for this though, considering that I am completely new to Pokemon tilesets, RPG Maker, ect.

How far along are you in the creation process?

Hmmm....
Well, I have 3 cities done, I'm mostly mapping, then going to make events, but I'll need sprites etc.
Umm...overall, not even 2% complete. I plan this to be a massive-ish game, with lots of side quests to complete.

Ah well I must say I admire your patience. It seems like some of the people on here abandon their projects too easily. Which RPG Maker and tileset would you recommend for a beginner to use? I'm designing a prequel to the first generation games but it requires some of the more advanced graphics to enhance the storyline and overall game play.

I'm willing to learn, but I have a feeling I'll be in too deep if I try to accomplish everything on my own.

poccil's starter kit is a good start, with a bit of modifying of course.
RPG Maker XP is what I use, but many other good games are made with Sphere etc.

It seems these days there are less and less actual Pokemon .ips hacks out there, but hey-ho, RPG Maker is a lot easier to use. Sounds like a good idea overall, but perhaps, if you were to make it into a deep game, then I suppose include story-changing choices and quests. That way, people could get more of a choice in how the game plays out.
