Well ive updated most things in the game graphics wise which is what im focusing on at the minute.

What wont be in
Cliche story lines. (Starting Professor etc..)
God like pokemon.
Threat of destruction of the world/universe.
An evil "team" (though I may put in an organisation to serve as an antogonist)
Elite Four ("elite" trainers will be in the game but you wont have to face them at the pokemon league)
Every Pokemon (alot will be left out)

What will be in
Gym battles (although they will be alot different)
Pokemon League (will be alot different)
Fakemon (maybe.. Im undecided)
Original graphics
Original Music
Seperate goals to achieve not part of the main story
TM's (with a twist...)

Game won't be totally story based, in that you collect badges finish a league, some endgame stuff and then theres nothing left to do. It will be sandboxed in that you can go anywhere at anytime (if you have the means), although there might be some unconvienent road blocks at pinicle times.

The attached thumbnails that were here were old layouts but ive split that map in sections.
First i've got some screenshots of it before i redone the graphics.

Map Shots

I created everything in photoshop although the trees and tent are recolours, i'll post the originals of them if anyones interested to see the difference.

I plan to do more shading on this map at the ledges, fences, stand alone trees and shading around the tent more natural but for now i'll leave it as it is and go back over it when Ive more progress done

This map extends below the previous one, it needs abit more colour in it and more features before its finished

Pokemon Available
All Gen1 pokemon will be availabe in game
Rest will be added if needed but Im focusing on gen1 first

Most stats will be changed and ive a few secrets on evolutions.
As well as stats, moves will be updated for each pokemon and maybe a few new ones added.

Some legendary pokemon will have there status changed to non legendary, they will have slightly lower stats and added as highly rare. Some might even have a pre evolved form to reinforce the idea of them being ordinary pokemon.
Other pokemon will be considered legendary pokemon because they are rare and not that they are overpowered, this was there will be less spamming of any legendary pokemon in the game.

Pokedex will classify pokemon on how rare they are, and players will get rewards for filling the pokedex.
Hms will be removed and tms will have a new way of working that i cant reveal.

On the story
Right now I can't reveal alot, starters so far will be Gen1 but i want to stay away from cliche's so I might change the starter to a set common pokemon.

Riding Dodrio eh?

This could be improved but its ok

As there are only maps to comment on at the minute, I'll do that. Your map is horribly linear. It's too blocky and organised, which doesn't look good. Hopefully you're planning to mix up the tree lines to stop them from being straight lines, and moving your house tiles around in that area, too. It's also difficult to comment on the look of your tiles when they're half size and JPGed. :/

Still, keep going with this. I'm interested to see how a game like this might pan out, but you need to add a bit more work before we can really comment on it.

Thanks for the feedback and your right that its horribly linear, this is a rough layout so things are subject to change. Im probably going to remove the top right section to a new map, bring the tree line down to the river and project them a bit here and there. I want to put an emphasise on a forested area and not just a border of trees so probably some new tree sprites will be needed. Its obviously not visible in that map but there are different weather effects on the different sides of the map.

I noticed that the bulbasaur in one of your images is from a gen 1 card of bulbasaur. out of curiosity why use that as opposed to a sprite?

I suppose I like the pose of it better, I still have to edit it as it doesn't look 2 good at the moment. Its just so people see what I'm doing.

i have a few other pokemon done out roughly and most of the best poses are in trading cards as oppossed to sprites.. also I want the game to look alot different than other games so Im trying to stay away from images that are overused.

I also did charmander, its not finished but its from a trading card. It and the bulbasaur have been edited so they're not exact copies of the originals.. bulbasaur i added in the vines and charmanders tail in front of it so I moved it to the back
