FireRed hack: Pokemon The Tempest - Beta 2 Released

Another worthy double-post because of lots of updates!!

First, some screenshots showing off the gym leader garden, my Tempest OW's, and the beach!






Secondly, here is a video showing the Gym Leader Pokemon Garden in action!




Lastly, I want to say that the first playable Beta will be released either tonight, or tomorrow! If you look at my progress update in the first post, you will see that everything is 100%. However, I'm going back and adding some items on the ground and hidden items!

Please comment on the screenshots and video! Also, let me know if you are interested in beta testing, and if you are especially good at beta testing!

Alright, I think it's time to release the first playabe Beta! (applause) It didn't take as long as I thought it would to insert some items into the maps . This beta is playable through the first badge, where it comes to a dead end. I am attaching an .ips patch file to the first post for everyone to download there!

Obviously, I want as many people to play it as possible to get the most feedback. Have fun everyone!

Thanks a lot! I fixed those things you pointed out. Something really weird happened with the Sternburgh rescue team building. And the legendary birds are there just for fun right now! haha they won't be there in later betas.

So excited for the beta. Darn only 1 gym pokemon to get though

Edited: Just finished the beta. I like it so far but it was a dumb choice choosing Jolteon . That was hard... And the gym wild pokemon idea is awesome. Wasn't what I expected when you first mentioned it as I thought that the wild pokemon thing would be that you go into the grass and there is only one pokemon there... and you only get one chance. This, on the other hand, is even better! You get to fight a lot of times and train a lot!!

Yes. One of them is catchable in the first beta! Every pokemon in the the Fire Red/Leaf Green pokedex will be obtainable. Plus, I'm planning on adding Leafeon and Glaceon, and possibly some fakemon.

How do you get Umbreon and Espeon in this? Will it be by the "happiness" thing or by a stone also?

No happiness. Just the stones.

Sun Stone -> Espeon
Moon Stone -> Umbreon

You CAN get both in the first beta!

Damnit! That was what I thought. I'm disappointed because if I knew, I would have gotten my Eevee to an Espeon instead of a Jolteon .

BTW are you going to add a cable link area?

Haha oh well... it says it in the first post, so you just must have not read everything. Also, I altered the attacks all the eeveelutions learn. Maybe you noticed that already. I'll add info like this to my guide which is also attached to the first post.

You won't need to trade anything in this hack, so I took out the cable area. As far as I know, you can't even use it with an emulator?

First, I have to learn how to insert new pokemon and extend the pokedex! But yeah, if you're good at spriting, i would appreciate it! I saw an eeveelution in the Pixel Art section for "Titaneon" which is a steel evolution for eevee! I think that would be cool to put in my hack.


GRAPHICS UPDATES!
Some of you might know that I'm focusing on the graphics aspect of the game for awhile rather than the story. I've managed to insert some tiles, and alter the pallets for a better effect! Here's some screenshots:




Please, tell me what you guys think. Personally, I love the new tiles! I slightly altered many of the tiles you see.

I'm still looking for trainer spriters, and OW creaters!

Yeah I must have missed it... And you can for VBA link emulators which are VBA but with link cables

the tiles look good. and as for spriting skill, i'm a noob at shading, but other than that, i think i'm good.

Oh cool, I didn't know that. I doubt I'll put the link room back in every center, though. How far are you in the beta?

Thanks about the tiles! And I guess, if you feel like it, you could give it a try a making a sprite. I only want professional looking ones if I'm going to insert fake pokemon, so don't be surprised if I say no to a sprite you make.


For those of you who have started the beta, what do you think of it so far?

I've beaten your beta already. Got the first badge and caught the pokemon... And I got the Squirtle and did most of the other things

Could you post your likes, dislikes, and suggestions about the beta please?

I'm going to release beta 1.2 tomorrow or so. It's no different, but it will have my updated tiles, and pallets for the battle screen.

1. I really like the gym leader wild pokemon place
2. Interesting story and like the idea of Eevee with the three stones
3. The finding Squirtle was a nice idea

Dislike:
1. Should do something about that cave area... sucks that once you fight the trainer with the Onix, you can't really go back and heal

Not Like/Dislike but suggestion?
1. You can make it a double battle with you and your rival in the scene vs the Team Rocket
2. What is the "House creep me out" supposed to be?
3. Will you be able to get more Eevee?
4. Have some "training" trainers area for us to get stronger instead of getting stronger having to fight pokemon
5. I think the first gym TM should be changed from Return to something more "grasslike" but that is just me... She is a grass trainer

That's about it so far

1. I was actually considering making it a double battle, but I don't know how to make it so that you don't have control over your rival's pokemon.
2. After an event later in the game, the owner of the house gives you a key to open that house, and there will be a special event inside it.
3. You will be able to breed more Eevee when you access the daycare in the third city.
4. I think there are plenty of trainers prior to the first gym. Don't worry, in the upcoming betas, there will be many trainers to train on.
5. I couldn't decide on what the move should be. There aren't any bug-type TM's... However, I could probably make one! I'll keep this in mind.

Oh, and with the cave area, I think I'm gonna take out that ledge, so you can go back and heal.

haha I think the next beta will be up through the third badge, but I haven't officially decided yet.

The second just shows the purple when the hp gets below half.

It looks nice... especially like the exp color touch also. Looks a lot like another hack I've seen
