If this game's going to be released, will it be a demo, an alpha, a beta, or will you first complete it and then release it?
I've planned to release first a demo: it should have a couple of cities (including a Prefecture/Gym), a couple of routes and a dungeon. I don't know about date, though.

I don't know if you've seen this, it's a random script:

You're crazy! You've done so much with red it's unbelievable! And you've only known ASM for a few months, that's right?

Ha! Thanks! Well about ASM, I learned it last summer; now that I think of it, it seems yesterday!

Very nice indeed !

I suppose that asm script took a while to create as it even requires a lot of time with scripting commands in G/S/C. By the way, are you planning (or have you already) created some kind of scripting system which includes basic commands ?

Spoiler:

Was about to write here a question of how "give pokemon" code works but figured it out, you tell it to write bytes in offset X if you've one pokemon and in X + Y if two, X + 2Y if three etc. right

Thanks!

It took me a whole free evening to build that script, plus another hour to fix some small flag errors.

No, I think I'll leave the "scripting" engine as is, except for adding some more routines for things that might come in handy

Actually it's a lot nicer than that (here is the link to my scripting guidelines, I've explained get/check pokemon in part 3):
Spoiler:
you just pass the pokemon ID and the level as arguments and then call the routine which automatically creates the desired pokemon in your party or in the box, and if none of them has free space the function display a message to inform the player about it. It's cool, isn't it?

Haha nice.

@gvgisdi

Even you could do this, anyone with a brain can do this, it's all about planning and visualisation, breaking that vision down into chunks, then following procedures to get to the goal you want to achieve.

My brain isn't too strong I read some stuff about I/II gen hacking yesterday, looks hard, but someday I'll try anyway. :D

Thank you, Cartmic!

In that case: I wrote it in VB6, and, except for the sprite converting (GB-to-PictureBox) function that was kindly written by Darthatron, is written in a very bad way (hopefully I've improved since that time) and is very slow (that's why I never released it). And, after all, it just edits maps and display (not edit!) maps/tilesets headers and event data in a more readable format than a hex editor's.

I could not agree more.
