Episode 5: Triple Leaders, Team Threats!
The debut of Cilan!

Now that the episode has aired, I figured it was high time to make this.

Ah this was such a great episode and I was finally able to hear Cilan's voice. They all sound so great! I love how Tepig won against Chili on this one. I wish Pikachu won the last battle but of course he didn't. So far good episode and the voices in this episode gets a thumbs up.

This was an awesome episode. Cilan, Chili and Cress are really cool. I like how Cilan is a Pokemon Connoisseur, I also like his voice and how his name is said. Tepig was awesome in this episode! He kicked butt. Chili and Cress' voices were really cool too. This is an awesome Gym Battle. Oshawott was funny in this episode. I like how Ash gave him a pep talk to get him to battle. Its funny that the Gym Leaders have cheerleaders. I can't wait until next week to see the next part of the battle!

As you can see... Cilan's voice is not something I am a fan of. I can bear with it though. :/

I'm actually quite fond of the character voices for Cilan, Cress, and Chili. I thought they were a pretty awesome trio for the first gym. Pansage's voice reminded me of Brock's Happiny in certain scenes though. oo;

Connoisseur - A specialist of a given field whose opinion is valued; especially in one of the fine arts, or in a matter of taste.

...that sounds about right to me.

Kind of disappointed Pikachu keeps getting the boot as of recently though. It's accomplished so many memorable wins that to lose to a monkey where it had a type advantage just seemed like a slap in the face to be honest.

Oh well, still a good episode I thought and as always, Oshawott was brilliant. XD

His voice was a surprise to me. I thought he was going to have a more girly voice but it is a lot better. Iris is starting to get on my nerves with here "Such a kid" line. She says it like 3 times in every episode. Tepig is so awsome. Oshowatts I am hopeing gets better at battling. I'm thinking it will evolve later on in the series and become a powerhouse.

Right. It's a fine job description, I just don't see why they couldn't have kept Sommelier. It was just fine and sounded classier. In my opinion, anyway.

It's the dub, they have very odd reasons for changing the way things are when compared to the Japanese. I like either one though as they both work fine for their job description as far as I can tell. Connoisseur does have a more appropriate and defined title for Cilan though. Sommelier is more of one who is an expert in wine, but connoisseur deals with the art of taste which can range from an array of food and drinks, and considering Cilan works in a restaurant, it works.

Cilan names sound different then how I'd say it, but I thought the episode was cool!

This is true. I'll probably get used to it in time, just like with his voice... but I'll still be calling him a Sommelier.

Here is some thoughts on the episode

Spoiler:

-At the beginning all the people were frozen lol except iris ash and cilan(same with team rocket)
-Tepig gets all those hits and is still able to win.
-Whos that pokemon showed the Pokemon saying its name.
-Cmon Pikachu.
-Now I know how Cilan is pronounced - S-y-l-i-n not C-i-l-a-n as i thought.
-OSHAWOTT???

I thought this episode was okay, not the best but that was to be expected, every first gym battle in a new region is nothing special, but I liked Cilan

-Ash saying "stoked" and yelling in the restaurant.. cringefest!
-Tepig managed to take all those hits, yet Pikachu got beaten with less by a water pokemon.. well done Tepig
-Oshawott trying to be confident but then gets abused.. funny times
-Cilan's name pronounciation will take some getting used to (I thought it was said like Sih-lan not Sye-lan) but the way they say it is better.

I'm surprised that we've already come to the first gym and we're only five episodes in. First off, if Ash hadn't challenged all three gym leaders, he would've already won his badge. He easily won the first match. It's definitely typical of Ash to be headstrong and challenge all three gym leaders, but he could've already had his badge by this episode. Nonetheless, the episode ending with the solar beam gives us something to look forward to. Oshawott's words (if I can call it words) speak louder than its actions. I'd like to see some more courage.

The new Team Rocket just continues to grow on me. There attitude is so much better now. I'm loving it.

This honestly is bugging the pants off of me and I want to know if anyone here had any idea; the first theme that plays during Tepig vs. Pansear; which is it? (Not the Gym Leader battle theme) It's addicting to listen to~

Cilan's voice was quite nice. I like his refined attitude in English, though I prefer his Japanese voice.

Cilan's name pronunciation annoys me as does his dub voice. I liked his Japanese voice way better, but with that out the way...

The things I liked were:
The Pokemon said its name after Who's That Pokemon?, Iris watching Ash, OSHAWOTT!, Jessie being able to fit all her hair into that small ball, MORE OSHAWOTT! and the new Team Rocket.

This episode has been my favorite so far of the black and white episodes. Honestly this has been my favorite season since the first two. I love oshowatts faces in this episode XD.

the scene with team rocket was a bit awkward being in the middle of their battle but overall good episode. also why am i not surprised ash didn't use pidove. whats the point of catching the birds of every region if you're going to barely use them? oh ash...i'm looking forward to the next episode though

Oh Ash, Why do you have to save Oshawott for last. Why there must be a cliffhanger at the end of the episode? Well, it was a great episode. I <3 Oshie in this episode though.

And yes, Cilan.. omg. <333 His voice is just... handsome.

I thought the episode was pretty fun, loved the voice actor of Dento's thought whoever did him did an exellent job on him. Negaishipping continues to be cute, episode five leaves you feeling for them. Dento's brothers did make crack up a bit, I liked seeing Ash act all nice to the gym leaders like that good for him. Over all a fun episode and am looking forward how next weeks turns out.

Only thing that bothers me is Pikachu losing. And to a type advantage!

anyways would be better if Oshawott lost and Pikachu won. would made more sense.


Other than that good episode no complaints.

Well, my least favourite episode so far but it wasn't bad, just on as good as I expected

I actually prefer Cress to Chili now Maybe because he beat Pikachu(just added that to phone's dictionary ) but he's cool attitude came across in the Anime well while Chili's fiery attitude didn't.
Pikachu isn't annoying me so far and I feel sorry for it loosing :O
Tepig is strong! It really should have lost to those digs.

I agree! I love Cilan's voice, though I can't help but think of Sonic–especially when I hear lines like "Its my turn!" or "Here we go!" xD I, too, was disappointed about how Pikachu "keeps getting the boot." Pikachu didn't get a single hit in on Panpour. I'd think its safe to say that Cress is clearly the strongest of the three. =P
