[B/W] What did you think of 'King' N?

As title suggests, what did you think of the whole 'King' idea?
The past generations never had a king for the head antagonist, they usually had a boss like Giovanni.

So did you like the idea of a 'King'? If you want say why you did/didn't like the idea.

Personally I didn't like the fact that they brought in a king. A king just doesn't really fit the Pokemon genre for me =/

The "king" title suits N to an extent because the Team Plasma grunts have clothes that resemble the medieval days.

I think it is actually better then having Ghetsis as King because Ghetsis is kinda more evil than N.

If anyone, N deserves that title for sure.
BW was supposed to be revolutionary and it really is.
So why don't we have pokemon world's king? :D

I believe he deserves it for being a peace loving person but all he wanted to do was free pokemons and he cares deeply about them,that's simply how a king cares about his fellow nobles.

I was thinking about this earlier today and I realised that the king title DOES suit him, because with a king you inherit things, etc, and really, N inherited Team Plasma's history. Although they failed ultimately, he'll always be remembered for being the one destined to make a change...if that makes sense. Much better than just a boring Plasma admin!

when i hear "king" in a game, (this one or another) i always think "power-hungry freak who needs to be overthrown and destroyed". N was a good guy, but since he was being used by Ghetsis, he would have been a "abusing your power" kind. or a type with good intention, but evil execution...

I never gave it much thought until reading this thread, but now that you think about it, the "King" title does make sense for N considering Team Plasma's goals and mission. They seek to revolutionize the world by separating Pokemon from humans, and since N is the person who was "chosen" to lead them to this new world, King suits him more than, say, Boss or Executive.

Yeah, King suit him Perfectly. Just as Ghetsis, the corrupt archbishop that hold higher power than their king.

Poor N was just a kid that was manipulated and twisted by Ghetsis, who secretly was really the real ruler of Team Plasma all along and used N for his evil deeds and whatever.

Though N was the good guy all along, he was just mislead, I suppose. Gotta admit, the King title on him did sound quite catchy.

I don't really like the idea of him being the 'King' of team Plasma. I think he's too young to be a king.

It would be better if he was the Prince. :3

I think he just doesn't look like a king. And he's too young. Besides he was tricked into the whole thing. Though IMO Ghetsis looks a lot like a king.

If anyone is to be king it really should be Ghetsis. I agree and say that N seems too young to be the king of anything and should've succeeded that role after his father.

So I wanted to recreate this thread earlier but I figured it'd be easier if we just made it an ongoing discussion, woo! Anyway so while there's the normal thread asking about what's so good about N, this thread is rather about his title of a King and whether you felt it was appropriate for Pokemon, so there is a difference! Remember older posters likely won't reply but feel free to discuss with newer posters,

At first, when I saw the cutscene thing before the main menu, I thought it seemed awesome, his whole coronation, and it seemed incredibly intriguing. I found the whole "king thing" to be a little cultish, and weird for pokemon lateer on though. I still thought the whole thing was cool, but with the sages and the blind faith, it felt a little..strong? I don't know what word I'm looking for. I like the idea, I just feel it was a little intense/unexpected maybe? But I also feel like it was good for those reasons showing that maturity in pokemon games and amping up the games. :D

I mostly agree with Golurk on this one.

I have to admit that while the opening cutscene was different from other games, it was a fun one to watch. I was thinking "What the heck we have a king in the Pokemon games? This can't be right." but when I read more about N's backstory I eventually found out how interesting this was.

I did like the idea of N as king, but it did feel a little unexpected, especially for franchise newcomers. However, it also has a mature side to it, which totally accommodated the older gamers like myself and also added that dark twist to it.
