Dream Theme Challenges:
Enough Choices to Make It The Happiest Place on Earth

Intro: Welcome to my challenge thread where there is a lot more than 1 or 2 challenges with simple rules. Here there are many choices with different difficulty levels and fun combinations. Welcome to my party, you can have some awesome hardcore Pokemon Teams if you want to.

Rules / Notes: Unless otherwise stated, most of these challenges are considered completed once you defeat your game's E4, in HG/SS/H/S/C you have to have all 16 badges.

You may also suggest challenges for this thread. If I like it, it will be added to the list. When using this thread to suggest themes, make sure to read the other challenges in both my forum and others. I try to make themes based on fiction, other video games, or whatever floats into my head.

The requirements of each theme will be laid out in an order showing the challenger the required Pokemon, types, colors, egg groups etc. There might also be moves or types banned in the challenge so keep a look out for that.
Challengers, if the challenge you take up has move restrictions or requirements please update with your Pokemon's moveset I love reading frequent updates, but if your posting more than 3 images, or writing more than 4 paragraphs remember to use the /spoiler to shrink down the forum size a little.

You may use a hack for your challenge as long as it is completed enough that it has an Elite 4, or something that leads to the credits.

Unless the challenge requirements say otherwise trading and hacking are only allowed if none of the required Pokemon are available legally before the first gym.

Unless the challenge requirements say otherwise emulation is just fine.
In order to participate in this challenge you need to say your username or name you want to go by, the theme you are going with, and the pokemon you know will be your starter/first attained.
Unless the challenge says otherwise, no legendary Pokemon will be permitted.

BADGES / ROAD TO CHAMPIONSHIP: Each Challenge is worth a certain amount of badges, if you manage to get 8 you are the champion of this thread, of course if someone gets more badges than you than you shall be dethroned, but you get to remain in the Hall of Fame.

The Challenges

Easy Challenges (Worth 1 badge Each)
Intro: These challenges are meant for the casual player who is just looking for something fun to do while replaying one of their favorite versions, so they can try a few Pokemon they haven't played with in a while.

Spoiler:

SAFARI CHALLENGE
Grab your gun, or Pokeball, I won't judge you, whatever you're into. We are going to hit the dry plains and see what Pokemon you can't hunt down.

Rules:In this challenge pick an established Pokemon game (meaning not a hack), it doesn't have to be the version you are playing for the challenge. Look up the Safari Zone for that game, any of the Pokemon that are catchable in the Safari Zone (Minus Pokemon that can be caught surfing or fishing, there is no watering hole on this Safari) are available to your team. You may only pick one Safari Zone, meaning you can't have R/B/Y Safari Zone pokes mixed with R/S/E Safari Zone pokes. Also allowed on your team is Donphan, Giraffarig, (that Zebra thing from Gen V D, Stantler, Chatot, and Primeape.

HEART OF A LEGEND
Oh I bet you're thinking "Finally a challenge where I can guilt free use a legendary Pokemon" Well you're wrong. You can't. I'm not that nice of a person. Instead your team reflects everything about the legendary Pokemon without having that Pokemon on your team.

Rules: Go to your favorite sprite site, I am using Pokemon Elite 2000. Pick a legendary Pokemon and I'm going to use Kyogre for this one.
First you may only play games from the generation that Pokemon is in. So you load up your R/S/E game. Right away I can pick out three colors from this Pokemon. Red, blue, and white. So 1 pokemon in my party has to red, 1 blue, and 1 white. You may only have 1 of each when it comes to colors. No more no less. Since you are required to have four or more Pokemon in this challenge let's look at it's typing. Kyogre is a pure white type, so for the rest of the slots on your team you may use any water types. Also no TMs may be used in this challenge, all your Pokemon's moves must be obtained naturally.

COFFEE
Another very simple theme I've come up with for the easy category. It is celebrating the thing that helps me get through some of these Pokemon games. Coffee.

Rules: In this one the rules are simple. Your party may only contain electric types, and Pokemon that's primary color is brown. If it's not an electric type it can be no other color. The party starts from the coffee bean. For a few added rules none of your Pokemon may know sleep powder, yawn, hypnosis, or rest. That would defeat the purpose now would it? Also: Psychics and Poison types are completely banned.

HUMAN INFLUENCE (Contributed by Brewds567)
Pokemon are part of nature and the very essence of their world. At least that is what someone very ignorant would say. Not all Pokemon are created equal. Created being the key word. This challenge celebrates the Pokemon man made through either genetics are some unique engineering.

Rules: In this challenge your list of available Pokemon is extremely limited. You may only have a party that consists of Magnemite, Porygon, Shedninja (only a trainer can assist in its evolution), Rotom, Ghastly, Trubbish, Grimer, Unown.
All these Pokemon are allowed to evolve, and you are only allowed to hack one in (at a level lower than 10), or trade for an egg of the needed Pokemon if you cannot obtain any of these before the 2nd badge.

Average Challenges (Worth 2 badge Each)
Intro: These challenges are still no "Nuzelocke" but will result in several trips to the Pokecenter as you struggle to keep your team well balanced and strong as your moves, and even evolutions are restricted

Spoiler:

Nintendo Challenge
In a world where 3 different consoles dominate the video game world forcing gamers to pick and choose sides and debate with one another, remember, you like Pokemon, so just keep on filling Nintendo's wallet. Sony and Microsoft silliness put aside Nintendo brought us some of the most iconic video game characters, and this theme celebrates that.

Rules: 6 Pokemon will be required for this challenge, each have their own requirement that relates to a Nintendo character, some will also have a move requirement. Each Pokemon must be named after the character they represent. The party layout is as follows:

MARIO: To celebrate the man that represents Nintendo one of the Pokemon in your slot most be red, (the offical color chart can be found on bulbapedia, no shinies) as well as have any fire attack for when you find that special flower power.
YOSHI: Where would Mario be without his faithful lizard? In this slot your pokemon must not only be green, but also be a lizard/have scales. Sceptile, Turtwig, Snivvy, etc. Make sure to post in the forum if you are not sure that your Pokemon qualifies.
3. DONKEY KONG: If this Monkey didn't exist and insist on capturing Peach and throwing barrels there would be no Mario. Celebrate Donkey Kong by using a monkey Pokemon (Primeape, Infernape, etc.)
PEACH: If only this girl would stop getting kidnapped. Use a pink Pokemon here, and your pokemon representing the Princess cannot be male.
LINK: That sword weilding homie? Of course I suggest you use a green Pokemon for this- oh wait it has to be harder. NFE green Pokemon since Link likes to start out the game as a lil boy. Just unlike Link I don't see why you should grow up.
PIKACHU VS. KIRBY: I wanted to use Kirby, but the Peach challenge already requires you to have a pink Pokemon. So either a Pink Pokemon for Kirby, or a Pikachu (Can't evolve to Raichu, but feel free to use Pichu) the ultimate Nintendo Gangsta

Lore of the Fairy
This is what happens when a girl makes themes. I love all the pokemon from the fairy egg group (which can be looked up on bulbapedia), and one of my favorite Pokemon is Butterfree. So with this challenge we will be recreating a beautiful fairy garden.

Rules: In this challenge there is a small array of Pokemon you are allowed to use. You are not allowed to use any other Pokemon that do not meet the following requirements: Any Pokemon from the fairy egg group, any Pokemon with bug wings (Butterfree, Yanma, etc.), or any Pokemon with flower petals (Roselia, Vileplume)

Adventure Time
No. Not that Cartoon Network show. I'm thinking of all the typical fantasy stories and have come up with an epic adventure for your trainer to embark upon. LOTR got nothing on you!

Rules: In this challenge you have to keep your starter, but once they evolve into their 2nd form they may never evolve again. (make sure to get an everstone or save often, if you mess up feel free to breed it to get another). Why do I require this, because the best hero is always unlikely. Duh. Now your hero needs a loyal steed, so a horse Pokemon. If Ponyta or Rapidash isn't in your game any other 4 legged hooved creature will do. Now for a sword, you need a steel type of course, but only one don't get greedy. If playing gen 1, when such a thing didn't exist, you are a primitive cavemen and will be required to have a rock type. The rest of your team is open to any dragon, fire, or bug.

Rainbow Road ~ Contributed by Alternative
Monocolor is always fun, but how about a nice array? Only catch is one per color and in order.

Rules: In this challenge you must have a team of 6 Pokemon, and each 1 must be a different color to represent all 6 colors of the rainbow. (Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple). The must also be caught in order. You must have your red Pokemon by the 2nd gym, (if your starter isn't red you may use it for help up to the 2nd gym. Even if it meets the future color criteria you may not use it again as it isn't a catchable Pokemon). You must have 3 pokemon by the 4th badge, and 6 by the 7th. NFEs are allowed, and no legends. ALSO all 6 pokemon on your team must be caught with a different pokeball, so no 2 pokemon on your team can live in the same ball (unless you're playing R/B/Y or FR/LG for you may use 2 pokeballs, 2 great balls, 1 ultra ball, 1 masterball).

Digimon Crest Challenge ~ contributed by Digimon Kaiser

I won't lie I love Digimon way more than Pokemon, even though they are just Pokemon with a whole bunch of guns strapped to them. Digmon has offered a lot of great RPGs as well (Digimon World 2 being the best), but Pokemon has more going for it. So to make it a bit fun though and add some variety you're allowed to pick one crest, and depending on the crest effects the team you must complete the game with.

Rules: Pick a crest and follow the rules for each crest. 6 Pokemon must be on your team

Courage: 2 Pokemon on your team must be fire types, 2 must be orange, and 2 must have scales on their body (meaning lizard or fish). TYPES BANNED: No Grass types, no grey or white Pokemon
Friendship: 2 Pokemon on your team must be ice types, 2 must be blue, and 2 must be a four legged sprite (Absol, Lillipup) TYPES BANNED: No fire types, no yellow or brown Pokemon.
Love: 2 Pokemon on your team must be flying types, 2 must be red, and 2 must be a Pokemon that evolves with the power of love (if an earlier game 2 fire types). TYPES BANNED: No water types, no blue or yellow Pokemon.
Knowledge: 2 Pokemon on your team must be bug types, 2 must be purple, and 2 must be a steel type (if an earlier game Magnemite and Voltorb is all I'm giving you). TYPES BANNED: No flying types, no green or pink pokemon.
Sincerity: 2 Pokemon on your team must be grass types, 2 must be green, and 2 must not exceed the height limit of 6' 8' http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wi...mon_by_height TYPES BANNED: No ice types, no red or orange Pokemon.
Responsibility: 2 of your Pokemon must be water types, 2 must be white, and 2 must be a Pokemon that has a tail BUT YET has no wings. TYPES BANNED: No flying types, no purple or green Pokemon allowed in this club.
Hope: 2 Pokemon on your team must be normal types, 2 must be brown or yellow (1 color no mix and match), and 2 be a NON-BIRD flying type. F those Pidgeys It's all about the bugs and dragons
Light: 2 Pokemon on your team must be normal types, 2 must be white or pink (1 color no mix and match), and 2 must be a FEMALE cat Pokemon (If an earlier game where this isn't possible than just 2 more normal types)

Hard Challenges (Worth 3 badge Each)
Intro: These are challenges where there is going to be hair pulling, angry resets, and many trips to the PC to maybe deposit your Pokemon forever.

Spoiler:

Survival of the Fittest ~ Contributed by Sooyun
Charles Darwin explained that the survival of the fittest determines what species will survive extinction and what species doesn't. This also stands true for the dangerous world of the Poke Kingdom.

RULES:

1. You must have 6 Pokemon. One Pokemon each must be a part of the following families (no duplicates):

Canine: Dogs, Skunks, Foxes, Mongoose
Feline: Cats (domestics like Glameow, or killers like Persian)
Amphibian: Frogs, Tadpoles, Turtles. Any Pokemon that lives NEAR and not IN water like Slowpoke, Lilleep, Oshawott, Piplup
Reptile: Snakes, Lizards, Dragons (Snivy, Arbok, Axew, etc.)
Equine: Horses, Deer, Cows, Bulls, Sheep, etc.
Mus Musculus: Mice, Rats, Chipmunks, Hedgehogs, Meerkats, etc.
Aves: Birds
Primates: Monkeys
Ichthyoids: Fish, Crabs
Swine: Pigs, Boars
Ursus: Bears
Insects: Worms, Caterpillars, Butterflies, Moths, Flies
Arachnids: Spiders

2. If any of your Pokemon fall prey to their mortal enemies (ex. Pikachu faints in a fight against Pidgey, Ekans, or Meowth), that family (in this case Mus Musculus) is automatically extinct. If they faint to other Pokemon, they have to die 3 more times before they're extinct.

3. If a Pokemon in a family is extinct, you may not use that family again.

4. You may breed a dying family (they must have fainted twice) and use the egg as a replacement. That egg must go by the same rules as 2. Trades must be in the same family as the dying Pokemon and must follow the same rules as 2.

5. You may not catch multiple Pokemon in your selected families. You may only have 2 (or a Ditto) for breeding and the second/Ditto can't be used as a replacement, only the egg can.

Banned: Any Pokemon made of inanimate objects, Any Pokemon made with technology, Rock types, Psychics, Grass Types that are Plants (Cottonee, Sunflora, Weepinbell), Humanshapes, Ghosts, Intermediates (only Ditto allowed for breeding).

Here is the Strength and Weakness Chart

Weaknesses (Red), Strengths (Green), Neutrals (Gray):
ex. Growlithe/Pokabu/Teddiursa/Ponyta + Meowth + Meowth dies = Feline family extinct

Canine= Feline :: Ursus, Insects (in general), Equine (just 1st evo.) :: Everything else
Feline= Mus Musculus, Aves, Ichthyoids, Equine (only for 2nd evos) :: Canine, Swine, Ursus & Equine (this applies to 1st evo.) :: Everything else

Insects= Canine :: Primates, Ichthyoids, Mus Musculus, Arachnids :: Everything else
Arachnids= Insects, Primates :: Reptile, Mus Musculus :: Everything else

The Johto region for GSC doesn't have a Safari Zone, so should we use Kanto's? Obviously HG/SS has one, but GSC doesn't...

It doesn't matter what game your playing you can pick any Safari Zone.

If you're playing Hoenn you can use the Kanto Safari Zone

But yeah if you're playing GSC your only choice would be Kanto

Unless the Safari Zones from future games has a good selection of 1st and 2nd gen pokes

A Nintendo challenge seems awesome right now. I won't sign up yet, as I'm not home right now, but I would just like to make some suggestions for it.

Peach seems to be very similar to Kirby. Maybe make it that Peach can be either a Pink Pokemon, or a Pokemon which is strictly female only. Also there should be a lot more themes for people to use, like Samus, Starfox, and various other characters like that. Also, you'd want to give more variety for Nintendo, since you don't have much there.

As long as you hack it in before you get to Brock and only hack once it is fine D:

I will make that female requirement right now it's a good idea, but as for your other suggestions I am thinking about apply it to a special Super Smash Bros. Theme I might be coming up with soon

Still a pink Pokemon, it just has to be a female. :D

Now time for Laure's update:

Spoiler:

In the beginning I basically got a Caterpie as soon as I could, caught about 10 of them until I got a modest one since Butterfree will be used for both status destruction and my psychic type.

I went after Brock as soon as I learned Confusion, I lost the first 2 times because of Rock Tomb messing up my speed and leaving me at 2 hp, but once I learned sleep powder all was good.

Butterfree was at about lv. 19 when I decided to go Jigglypuff hunting. I needed an impish one for a bit of defense, so I found one and yippe. I didn't care much about Clefairy's nature since i'd be searching forever. I emulation sped through the training the two of them got through Mt. Moon, some Cerulean Trainers and Misty was simple thanks to Butterfree and Jigglypuff beating up on it. Once Clefairy got to lv. 25 I used a Moon Stone on it and evolved it.

Vermillion was some more speed raising as well as the St. Anne. When I got to Surge I used Butterfree for more Status problems, but in the end it was Jigglypuff that built up a good roll out. It's an added bonus that whenever it's touched the Pokemon falls in love.

Going through the mountains

dun dun dun

Celadon city Rocket battlers, and this is where I found my second Moon Stone and evolved Jigglypuff

dun dun dun

Dead Pokemon
yeah

Erika was easy. Butterfree was basically aerial acing everywhere, but met it's maker and Wigglytuff had to come out and get the job done.

Once Erika was beat I quickly took the bike path went to Fushia, and after 3 hours got me a stupid f'n Chansey. This pink fatty better be worth it.

Oh and I'm still working on getting some badges and userbars

I was thinking that once someone completes a theme challenge they get a badge
5 badges you a completed your challenges at an ultimate level
but if you wanna be champion of this league you have to have the most badges, and if you want to knock a current champion off their spot you simply need more badges than them

How about this theme

Human Influence:
In our day and age where many things have a human influence its only fair we have a team based on this. You'll only be able to use geneticly engineered pokemon, pokemon that resemble household items (like all of rotoms forms or rotom itself) or pokemon that are "manmade" that arn't engineered. Deoxys and Mewtwo are the only legendarys you'll be able to use, however Deoxys may only be in his normal forme. Mewtwo can only learn one attacking move at a time. You cannot however use both only one. If you do decide to use one of them, they must know flash (like a flashlight). Heres a list of all the accetibale poke. (I'll just list all the finnaly evos of them you can use the NFEs)

Magneton
Porygon-Z
Shednija (as the only way to get him is by having a extra spot in your party when you evolve Nincada, which can only be done when owned by a trainer)
Rotom
Gengar ( gastly was once a pokemon who died, most likely because of a trainer)
Muk (Made out of pollution)
Unown ( omst likely came to be off of written language)
Deoxys (restrictions apply)
Mewtwo (restrictions apply)

If you have any suggetions just tell me and I hope you accept this as a theme LaureTheLoner

I like it, but what do you mean only one attacking move at a time
Would an example be Mewtwo knowing one direct move like psychic and than Flash, Recover, Calm Mind

Though I think Calm Mind would be a bad choice Mewtwo is always too strong of an Uber no matter what grrrrr

Yeah that would be an example of what I mean. We could always restrict the attacking move to something that has a base power of 40-10. Something along those lines

Awesome I'll write it in tomorrow on the challenges list

Thank you :D I'll add you in soon as well

Well for me I'm going to be continuing my fairy adventure tonight since I have a fresh patch of Dr. Pepper and Glee playing on Netflix.

Unfortunately I just spent the last 5 hours trying to cure my precious computer of an evil virus, and I think I failed because it has a memory dump a lot of times when I try and do normal tasks hopefully this gets better and I don't lose my current Pokemon games before I finish my challenges. ;_;

I'm in I'm in!

Pokémon legendary thingy on crystal

Suicune:

I picked the girl sprite, set the clock and all that stuff.
Named myself Meri, set the date and dst and went out.
I picked up my starter Totodile! (pure water type)
This time I won't go with nicknames.

I did the side quest, beat my rival and named him Leo.

I went onto route 30 and caught myself a female hoppip! (jumpluff is blue)

After going through Sprout Tower and easily beating the gym this is my team

I skipped all the trainers on the next route
Went through the cave while level Hoppip to 18
Hoppip evolved into Skiploom!
Now I'm waiting for Togepi to hatch and nightfall to catch Ghastly

Fairy Lore COMPLETE

Woot, well it wasn't easy I had to go through the Elite 4 like 5 times always losing against Gary, boo. Clefable and Butterfree were the winners being awesome Sp. Atkers while Chansey and Wigglytuff were pretty much fodder the whole time. Seriously my Chansey sucked so terrible, it barely has like no Def, and that violates the whole purpose of a Chansey.

I've still got all that competitive battling brain washing in me, so when Agatha's Gengar uses double team like 6 times I got mad. Why is he violating evasion clause? Not fair, so I decided to also play dirty and have Clefable minimize and sp. atk spam. Usually when I do these challenges I've had the habit of just never using any of my elixers and ethers to save them up for the Elite 4.

Welp complete, I wanna finish all my themes, but there are some other good looking ones here so I'm just going to have to make a decision D:

Celestia / CLEFABLE (Fairy Egg Group)
Lonely, Female Lv. 70
Doubleslap
Minimize
Thunderbolt
Water Pulse

Monarch / BUTTERFREE (Bug Wings)
Timid, Male Lv. 63
Aerial Ace
Silver Wind
Toxic
Psychic

Beatrice / CHANSEY (Fairy egg group)
Naive, Female Lv. 52
Refresh
Fire Blast
Egg Bomb
Light Screen

Aura / WIGGLYTUFF (Fairy Egg Group)
Impish, Female Lv. 63
Rest
Blizzard
Counter
Rollout

It's finally evening so now I can go get my Ghastly
On the way there Togepi hatched from it's egg

After a while found the perfect Ghastly!
Now my team is finally complete and I can move on

After beating my rival for the second time totodile evolved!
Had to try twice to defeat Bugsy but I was underleveled so yeah
Caught some future HM slaves on the way to goldenrod city

Defeated all the trainers around goldenrod
Had a fail try at the bug catching contest
And then defeated Withney
(I sweeped her with Ghastly's Hypnosis and Curse lol)
Just put a Curse on the damn Miltank and keep it asleep

My Skiploom finally has Leech Seed <3

Suduwoodoo was in the way once again.
once again he didn't last very long.
My rival was boasting in Ecruetak once again.
Once again he didn't last very long either.

I trained my team to level 25 before facing Morty
Ghastly evolved into Haunter!

I challenged Morty
Croconaw took down Ghastly and his first Haunter with Bite
No surprise there...

The surprise of today!
I killed Gengar with Togepi with a Sweet Kiss Metronome combi lol
That was really something else

After that I went for a Haunter vs Haunter
And easily won =)

Now that I got TM Shadow Ball I went ahead and taught it to Haunter
I thought it was time for some change so I traded Haunter
Now I've got myself a Gengar!

At level 27 my Skiploom evolved into Jumpluff!

I went back to Goldenrod City and bought 2 TM's
Ice Punch for Croconaw and Fire Punch for Gengar!

I spent an awesome 20 minutes or so making the first page all updated, pretty, and organized

and then here comes Merj-tje with an update on her party...

boo Merj-tje <: jk

So you gots a Water
a purple
a white
and a blue, you're all good, going to hack to evolve that Haunter or just keep it as so?

Oh and Human Influence has been added to the themes, but I've decided to not include Mewtwo or Deoxys, because if I remember right there is no legit way to get Deoxys without trading and these challenges end when you beat e4, it'd be too late for Mewtwo.

I might switch it up for people playing R/B/Y that they can use Mew though since it's the origin of humans acting a fool, but they may only obtain it that very headachey way of finding it in Lavender Town.

I didn't hack lol
I used the tgb-dual to trade it over to my silver and back =)

Anyway here we go again

Togepi grew to level 30 and evolved into Togetic!

On to the Rocket Hideout in Mahogany!
My whole team is at level 30 now
And I'm starting to think about permanent movesets

Defeated the corner and wanted to go get a Horsea in the whirl islands
Damn another badge is needed
I went and kicked Chuck's ass with Jumpluff

I taught Togetic fly

And I still need more badges for whirlpool
Too bad
Well I guess next up is Mahogany town than
A play yard for my Gengar

Finally after receiving my 6th badge could use whirlpool
Caught a lvl 18 Female Horsea

Traded my Red Scale for an exp share

Jasmine's pokémon succumbed to my Gengar

Up to Goldenrod City to stop Team Rocket from causing trouble

For whatever reason I wanna restart playing Flora Sky since it really is the only hack I've played that is complete and looks just fine to me D: I wanna do Heart of a Legend and I am going to use Shaymin (which can be obtained in Flora Sky so all is good)

I see White, Green, and Pink
Shyamin is pure Grass type

so I need a white Pokemon
Green Pokemon
Pink Pokemon
and Pure Grass type

I predict my pure grass will be Cottonee
Torterra will be my green
Gah I don't know if I like the looks of those Pinks I'll decide later
White I think I will decide later as well

At least this time Wattson's stupid Lanturn won't anger me now that I will have grass types
