Fallout Discussion Thread

Has anyone played any of these games?

I have wasted spent a lot of time playing Fallout 3 and I still need to dust off my copy of New Vagus and get cracking on that. I haven't played the first Fallout, but I will one day; I feel I owe it to the franchise to play all of them!

What about you guys? Does anyone have any Fallout experiences to share, need help, or just want to discuss the game?

Oh god, Fallout.

SO ADDICTING.

I distinctly remember being traumatized by the Andale cannibals, convincing them I sympathized with their situation, and killing them in the night.

Good times.

I love the first 2 fallouts. 3 is ok, but I've never really been able to get into it. New Vegas however, is pretty sweet. The original games will always be my favorite though. I love it's turn based combat system.

How come your weren't able to get into it? I think Fallout 3 and Vagas are pretty similar in control, only thing that is different is the story, unless you found that a drag! XD

I dunno, New Vegas improved on a lot of things that kind of bugged me in FO 3, I fully realized that when I reinstalled FO3 recently after playing New Vegas for a while. Still, I like the first two games even more. :p

Haha, fair enough! :3
I haven't played the first, but I shall very soon I hope. I imagine that you recommend it? Why do you love it so much?

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, I differ greatly. With all the bugs New Vegas came with I had to stop playing it. I'd rather play Fallout 3 because it's been more reliable for me.

How about them V.A.T.S. :J

I can't really comment on the bugs, since I haven't played the game, Vagas, enough yet.

V.A.T.S is certainly interesting. I like the idea and it is always fun watching limbs fly off in random directions, but I feel it breaks the game at times, mainly when there is only one enemy. But I normally fix that by just manually shooting.

Probably my favourite RPG universe, which feels awkward to say since I'm not especially fond of it anyway. Something about retro-futurism bothers me, suppose it just feels alien. Fallout is relatively novel and intriguing, yet offputting.
The third game is my first and most played, but if I could really get into RPGs, I imagine Fallout 2 would be my favourite. Would be nice to see either an isometric or STALKER-esque Fallout 4.

It's slower pace I guess, combat feels more tactical and strategic due to it's turn based system rather than it going down to whoever has the faster trigger finger. I guess the style just appeals to me more.

Well I meant in gameplay improvements, and at this point most of the bugs that made the game difficult to play have been dealt with. NV also has a similar feel to it that the first 2 games do, which is probably another reason why I prefer it over FO3.

Fallout 3 was brilliant, I played on that loads. The expansions were really something as well.

As for New Vegas, lets just say I've had it five months and I have 50 minutes play time.

Can't wait for Fallout Online :D

Seeing some people starting to play the Fallout games again, so I thought I would just kick this to the first page.

I am going to be playing Fallout NV very soon and I can't wait. Going to be so fun!

Fallout 3 was fun. I managed to get every achievement on it for XBL and i'm still trying to get all the trophies for it on the PS3 to get platinum. Same goes with New Vegas except I don't play it on my PS3 that often anymore because I have it on the PC which is SO much better. All of the mods make the game much more enjoyable, and being able to create your own mods, storyline, quests and many other things using the GECK is amazing even though the GECK tends to annoy me most of the time when I do landscaping and object placing. Sadly, I do not own the collector's edition. So I don't have the platinum chip or the caravan cards and I was supposed to get it but gamestop ran out of collectors editions somehow on its release date and I ended up not buying it as soon as it came out. Then after a couple of weeks I finally decided to buy a copy at gamestop, and to my surprise, there was a deal where I was able to buy New Vegas for $40. I took that offer and inside my case was the DLC for the classic pack, something you only get if you pre-order the game. The same thing happened again with my PC version of Fallout New Vegas because I also got the classic pack with my game and I had to download it off steam. I really wish I had the collector's edition though, because it looks nice and I want that platinum chip and the caravan deck! It's fun playing caravan in real life too if you know how to play it in New Vegas.

How funny. I just got a used Fallout 3 because I wanted to get back into console gaming on my neglected Xbox 360. I've only played 4 or so hours but I'm loving it.

Oh God, Fallout is awesome.
I've beaten FO3 and the add-ons. What I really want, though, is a mod that gives real sights to aim down, like New Vegas.

I Loved Fallout 3, but I'm annoyed with Bethseda and New Vegas right now. he new patch did nothing except tweak the weapons (even though there were a lot of bugs/glitches that needed to be fixed) and now a producer has confirmed that the DLCs will NOT add a post-game gameplay, which means when you're done with the Dam battle, you're done with the game.

They messed up Fallout 3's ending and had to fix it with Broken Steel, but they went back and did the same thing.

I don't know why people complain about the finite ending, NV's ending has too many variables to really allow you to keep going after the story is over, and the world would have to be changed a lot, a lot of quests would probably be lost, and you can always just save right before the dam battle and go off and do whatever you want. Or hell, just don't do the main quest at all. I mean really, it's a silly thing to complain about.

Silly? I've had the most fun just wondering Fallout 3 when the game was over. They took out that opportunity, and even random encounters itself. The bugs already ruined the game for me (as I can't finish Raul's story/missing weapons)

Finally bothering to play through New Vegas and I'm starting to enjoy it a bit.

Can't be bothered coming up with 2000 caps to finally enter New Vegas though. I'm assuming there is another way in.

2000 caps is pretty easy to come by if you do a little killin' here and there.

I can't wait to start playing Fallout: NV soon, I just have one more week of exams then I will be rockin' and rollin'.

Well I've found out how to get a passport now and I'm already half way through the quest. :D

I wouldn't say 2000 caps is easy to come by, its nice when you just search around and find junk to sell though.

Yeah, getting into NV without 2000 caps is pretty easy, on my second playthrough I actually had enough to get in there, but getting in free is always better than spending 2000 caps.
