Just a note that this is a different take on the Fullmetal Alchemist universe, and none of the original characters are involved at all.

Plot

“The world faces a terrible crisis,” The cold words of Fuhrer Klein rang like the rusted church bells of a demolished building in the young man’s ears. “We – no, I have been ignoring the issue for far too long, and now our people are beginning to pay the price for my inability to act.”

The year is 1913, and the country of Amestris is still recovering from the fallout of the Ishvalan Civil War that had taken seven years, and ended abruptly in 1908 when State Alchemists were sent to the East to remove finish the conflict. The war, which came about as a result of the neighbouring country of Aerugo playing on tensions between the alchemic government and religious Ishvalan people in order to weaken the nearby border, nearly completely decimated the Ishvalan population and created many anti-government groups down the road.

Shortly after the end of the civil war, a strange disease began to spread across Aerugo. There were few cases at first, but eventually it multiplied, and more and more fell ill to the bizarre epidemic. To those who caught the disease, it would begin as a simple cold, but over time more discrepancies would surface. Parts of the human body began to crystallize, their bodies becoming covered in hard, red stone. Eventually, they would become completely coated in this unbreakable stone, but were still very much alive, just immobile. For some reason, they lived on without human sustenance as well, as if their very existence was now to live on as these structures for an unknown reason.

Amestris’ Fuhrer, Sebastian Klein, paid little attention to this outbreak in the other country, and instead of helping, increased border security to disallow outsiders from entering the nation. Some feared he was losing his touch with common sense in his old age, but he was still a scary old man, so very few stood up to him. The people of Amestris heard of the disease, xylica as it was eventually named, spreading to the other countries that bordered Amestris, until they were completely surrounded. However, Klein still did nothing, instead increasing security once again.

Finally, there was a recorded case in Amestris, in Central City of all places. Apparently an infected person had snuck into the country, and infected his countrymen! At this point, however, it was almost too late. The disease started to spread across the nation, but there was no foreseeable cure. Eventually, in his old age, Klein began looking at less… traditional methods. Panacea, the elixir of life. It was an alchemic legend that was told to cure any disease, but as far as anyone was aware, nobody had actually ever created the medicine. However, there were rumors that the people of Xing had done some useful research on it with their alkahestry.

Shortly after the first outbreak, the Fuhrer brought called a young State Alchemist into his office and assigned him a simple task: find a team of capable people and seek Panacea. In the meantime, the government was going to try other means, and since the elixir of life was nothing but legend, much like the Philosopher’s Stone, both the State Alchemist and any who joined in his quest would start out as nothing but skeptical.

Important Information
If you aren't completely familiar with Fullmetal Alchemist, the FMA Wiki would be the best place to start. Look specifically at the article on Alchemy to understand the specifics of the craft. The base of the RP more or less borrows themes from both the original FMA anime and the manga / Brotherhood.

RP Sample: Write a couple of paragraphs so I know you're up to par. Write about... I don't know. Maybe an excerpt from a fight your character may or may not be participating in?

There will be homunculi in the story, but will be part of the antagonist's group and won't show up right away. If you have any interest in playing a homunculi, send me a PM.

This. Is. Awesome! Please reserve me, I'll have my SU up soon, I hope.

Name: Isaac Graanz

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Profession: State Alchemist

Appearance: Standing at 6 feet tall, Isaac Granz has spikey black hair. His eyes are hidden behind sunglasses, which he never takes off, even in dark rooms, or while he sleeps, so it's almost like a trademark. His left ear is pierced with a simple silver earring, appearing to look as simple as a ring. He has a goatee to match his black spikey hair.

He wears an alternative to the Amestris military uniform, sporting a black-colored uniform of a Colonel, which is his rank. His hands are covered by black gloves as well. The chain of his watch is visible from his pants. When off duty, he would usually be seen wearing a simple grey shirt and with blue pants. However, his style when out-of-uniform varies. Nevertheless, he hardly ever is out-of-uniform.

Isaac is in fantastic condition and keeps his body in great shape to avoid faltering in his duties.

Personality:
Isaac Graanz is known for his sternness with his men. He has a belief that hard work will take you places, as evidence by his high rank at such a young age. He is both respected and slightly feared by the soldiers as a hardworking, hard-arsed leader but also as someone who cares deeply for his rank, post, country, and men. That being said, he takes absolutely no BS men, and rarely accepts excuses and the classic "one more chance line". Isaac is also respecting of the honorific's in a soldier, and will salute and add the honorific "sir" or "mam" to any above him, and expects the same things in return to those below him. He takes offense if anyone should not use honorifics, as most other military men and women would. Isaac is a strict believer in the rules of Alchemy, taking to the Laws of Equivalent Exchange, and scorns and looks down upon those who have disregarded these laws.

Besides that, Isaac is generally humble about taking power, but is also not afraid to lead when necessary. He would do whatever is necessary to protect his country and it's people.

History: Isaac was born in a small village above South City, a little to the south of Dublith. It was apparent at young age that he had a talent for Alchemy, but never exploited it until much later in his life. He made his way to Dublith while growing up, and when he discovered his dream of joining the military, he knew he couldn't make it to the top and help defend the country of Amestris from Dublith, so he made his ways to South City, and rose from those ranks, becoming a Warrant Officer by age 17. He soon learned of his abilities in Alchemy as well. After studying for a while, he became a State Alchemist at the age of 19 (Which is Major equivalent in the Amestris military), and from then on embraced himself as both a soldier and a State Alchemist. He had an active hand in the Ishvalan Civil War, where he was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel for his abilities to lead and for his bravery. Since the war, Isaac was promoted again to Colonel for containing a possible crisis in East City with an outbreak of xylica, but this has never gone on record in the public, as they wanted to avoid any possible panic. Since, Isaac remained in charge of South City's military hub until recently being transferred to Central City less than a year ago. He has been, and still is, a favorite of the top military officials to be used to quell potential crisis's as well as to keep things in order. (Possibly a reason he might have been called upon to help find the Panacea).

Weapons: Isaac carries a few weapons, but has a few stamper forms of the transmutation circle which he developed himself. He carries the stampers with him wherever he goes, making it easy for him to use Transmutation circles whenever he needs to without having to waste time by drawing it out. With a simple stamp, the Transmutation Circle is shown with ink on the desired spot. He has a stamper for one of the primary elements: earth. He also has a stamper he applies to metal, particularly some of his rifles and pistols, as well as a few others, including a Transmutation Array Stamper. Isaac also has on his wrists bands made of rock to help with his Earth Element Transmutations.

However, he was in the military long before he was a State Alchemist, and as such has a knowledge of how to use a wide variety of standard-issue weapons.

Alchemy: Isaac Graanz is known by his Alchemist Codename "The Earth Alchemist" because of how effectively he uses his Alchemy on the three main Transmutation types, including Comprehension, Deconstruction, Reconstruction with regard to the Earth Element. Isaac also carries Alchemic Stampers, which he uses to aid him in faster use of the basic three Transmutation types on earth. Isaac uses these Stampers, (he has about 4 one for his primary element Earth, and two more for Silicon as well one for a Transmutation Array) as a way of helping him excel in using the Earth Element. For example, with his understanding of Comprehension, Deconstruction, and Reconstruction, Isaac uses a Stamper to create something primarily using Earth, such as a giant spike, from a part of a wall. Isaac can also manipulate his two rock wristbands into weapons for combat, such as rock boxing gloves over his own fists. However, because earth and rock has such a wide composition, he can create other such weapons from rocks, including cement, glass, and also certain types of electrical steel. However, this requires an almost equivalent proportion of each in order to create this.

Isaac also uses the Stamper of the Transmutation Array and applies it to object, usually those that are composed of oxygen and silicon, the most abundant materials in rock. This provides quick breakdown and destruction of anything that is made primarily of earth, but because of the high volume of oxygen in the human body, he can manipulate it on a person as well, with mixed results. The human body contains little silicon, and has a large traces of carbon and nitrogen. With these abilities, Isaac has earned a reputation of a master of Earth Alchemy, and anything remotely related to earth Alchemy.

RP Sample: (This is a sample of a battle, though I very much doubt he will participate in it directly, although it's not impossible).

Isaac ran towards the corner as he tried to gain a foothold over his opponent. The being had been chasing him down passed a dozen blocks, and Isaac couldn't gain any foothold, and most of his conventional weaponry had been ineffective thus far. Isaac shot once more at the oncoming being, and the bullet lodges deep into his head, but in a form of red energy, he was able to recover and continued towards Isaac.

Isaac cursed as he witnessed this, wondering what kind of strange creature he had run into. He ran down a corridor and thought up a strategy. He took out his Earth Transmutation Circle Stamper from his pocket and stamped it to the wall of the alley. The being followed him into it, and waited there for a moment before charging at Isaac. As the being approached, he activated the circle, and in a flash, a giant spike slung out of the transmutation and lodged right into the stomach of the being. It was enormous, and even as it tried to struggle to regenerate itself, the spike was still lodged inside it's stomach. Before having a chance to pull it out with his hands, or even attempted to, Isaac took out his Transmutation Array Stamper and used the destructive magic to destroy his hands. This was a risky move, as the Transmutation Array was made for destruction of earth, not people. Nevertheless, the results were relatively the same, although the hands were not completely gone, they were damaged and rotting. The being screamed in pain, and as the spike was still inside him, probably couldn't focus to revive his arms. Red electrical energy pulsed around the being as it screamed in pain.

Multiple military guards came and examined the lodged being. They saluted the Colonel, who saluted back at them.

"This one has been causing a lot of trouble around here. I suggest we move him with utter care and caution, as it is a feisty one, to say the least. We must have him secure at all times. Call in a few State Alchemists to help move him."

The personnel looked at each other and then replied. "Sir, yes sir!" Isaac moved back towards his office, completely aware that the men were afraid of staying with that strange being all by themselves until backup arrives, but there were other, possibly more dangerous matter Isaac Graanz had to deal with.

Name: Aria Thorne
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Profession: Healer/Apprentice doctor
Appearance: A dainty little lady. She stands no more than 5'3" with a slender, but not frail, constitution. Curls of dark brown hair frame her doughy, childlike face, falling down just past her shoulders in ringlets. She has clear, arctic blue eyes, long lashes, small nose and a pointy chin, further accentuating her somewhat innocent expression. Her skin is astonishingly pale, akin to a porcelain doll, having avoided the sun for most of her life. She wears a thin, long sleeved white shirt. A sleeveless indigo dress, buttoned from collar to the bottom, is worn over it, stopping just above her knees. Black leggings and plain, brown traveler's boots complete the simple outfit. She usually carries around a relatively large gray satchel, filled with what she considers her most important items.

Personality: Odd, to say the least. She tends to be whimsical and random, confusing those around her. Deep at heart, Aria is a kind person, and she certainly strived to become a doctor not because of the monetary gains, but because she genuinely desired to help people. However, she is socially awkward. She has trouble making friends and because of that, often comes off as lonely and quiet. Her thirst for knowledge is strong and unrivaled. She is endlessly curious and adopts a rather childlike demeanor when it comes to finding out new information about anything - current events, medicine, people, etc.

Aria tends to say things at the most inopportune moments, partially due to her observant nature. Her intentions are nothing but good, but she has difficulty expressing them into words. She loves the art of medicine and continuously works hard improving her craft. Although a bit eccentric, she is an intelligent and bright young woman, capable of achieving great things with her healing. Of course, there is a small part of her that plainly yearns for acceptance. By being around and helping people, she hopes to fulfill that wish and fit in somewhere.

When confronted, Aria tends to, for a lack of a better phrase, chicken out. She dislikes conflict and is keen on approaching problems as peacefully as possible. She will defend herself and others when necessary, but never in a raised voice and certainly not in fists.

History:

Born in the more privileged part of Amestris, Aria was raised in a family of doctors and esteemed state alchemists. From a young age, she enjoyed toying with alchemy and using it for herself. She enjoyed the feeling of having power at her fingertips and vowed to become a great state alchemist. However, at the age of twelve, a small mistake in her alchemy caused a deep wound on her mother's arm, forcing her to rethink her reasons for using alchemy. After months of pondering and reflection, Aria decided the path of a doctor was far more suited for her, and her personality quickly did a 180, just as she entered her teenage years.

No longer as bold and more thoughtful, Aria began to study medicine and alchemy's uses in medicine. Her abilities might have remained subpar had she not run into a lone traveler from Xing. Noticing her talent, he opted to teach her a tiny portion of alkahestry, strenghthening her skills. They parted not long after, but Aria would spend the following years honing her healing abilities with the scraps of knowledge the stranger left behind, volunteering at local hospitals, helping doctors, as well as curing miscellaneous ailments of her neighbors. She eventually decided to begin studying in order to become an official doctor, but before she could do so, she was offered a position on a team to find Panacea. Although dubious of its existence, Aria immediately accepted, reasoning with herself that any hope, no matter how improbable, is still hope.

Weapons: She carries numerous equipment in her bag for her healing - chalks, markers, daggers, sticks, pins, etc.

Alchemy: She mainly uses her alchemy to help heal others. Keeping the basics of alkaestry in mind, she is able to transmit life flow through the human body to speed up her healing, using purification circles instead of transmutation circles. However, she is still capable of using the latter, but her skills in that area are not the strongest and she often takes too long thinking of what to transmute. It should be noted that she is unusually adept at transmuting shields, though. When in trouble or in a state of panic, she tends to conjure up barriers from ground, i.e. a shield of stone. She can rarely think fast enough to transmute anything offensive.

The premise of alkaestry relies on one's ability to ascertain the 'chi;' all Aria does is use that bit of knowledge to help her. She is by no means a master at it, but combined with her knowledge of medicine and years of experience, she is formidable as a healer.

Name: Zegan Zoma
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Profession: Traveler
Appearance:

Personality:
History:
Weapons: Alchemy and a katana strapped to his left side. The katana is 24 inches long and is single edged. The hilt's pommel is crescent and the grip is made from metal, wrapped with leather, and held by glue and a wire wrapping around the leather in a helix. Its sheath is made of wood that has been carved from a branched and polished, and at the end is a metal piece where the tip of the sword is. A leather strap is bolted down in the middle to help carry the sword and sheath.

Alchemy: Zegan has transmutation symbols tattooed on his shoulders, the back of his hands, and the palms of his hands. The symbol for water is an upside down Triangle. This symbol is on both of his shoulders and the back of his hands. The symbol of iron is the symbol of a male, or mercury. This symbol is only on the palms his hands.

He uses the water symbol on the back of his hands to absorb the water and wraps it around his arm or arms. Then he uses the symbols on his shoulders to keep the water in place by using the 44% of water in his skin. He then uses the same symbols on his hands again to change to form of the water into either a weapon or a shield. Then, by using the 82% of water in his blood, he takes the iron from his blood, then transmute it into the water using the iron symbol on the palms of his hands, turning the water as hard as iron.

Because tree's are 75% water, he can freely use the water from the tree to his advantage. The drawback to using the water as a weapon or shield is that he can't stabilize it for very long. Depending on how much water is used, it can last from 30 minutes up to 2 hours. Another drawback is that taking the iron from his blood weakens his immune system, causing him to get sick much more easily. The last drawback is that he can only use it as a melee weapon, and can't use it as a long-range weapon. This can be somewhat fixed by using the water as a spear or a scythe, but if the water leaves his hands ever, it turns back too normal.

RP Sample:

And yes, the symbols are real. I looked them up before rewriting this. Also, not done, still gotta work on the other stuff, but please tell me what you think so far.

Name: Lillian Archer / Alexandra Troy

Age: 29

Gender: Female

Profession: Vigilante, smuggler, private investigator, moonshiner, bounty hunter, arms dealer, former State Alchemist ("Breacher Alchemist")

Appearance: Lillian/Alexandra is a tall woman, standing at around 5'8". While not quite as stacked as she would want to be, she still has a suitably narrow waist and reasonably wide hips (32-22-34). Her hair is short, straight, and quite unruly, with numerous stray strands standing up and waving about even with clips in place; she has also been known to tie off her hair into twintails on occasion. She is a natural blonde, though after deserting the State Military, she used alchemy to change her hair color to dark brown. Her eyes are a flat, unremarkable shade of brown.

Lillian's typical attire consists of a white collared long-sleeved blouse, a black and gray pinstriped blazer, a black tie, black leather fingerless gloves with embroidered transmutation circles, and black hot pants held up by suspenders; she sometimes accentuates this outfit with a black fedora. Legwear and shoes tend to vary; she usually wears black knee socks and black leather combat boots, though she changes over to black silk thigh-high stockings and black leather Mary Janes for formal occasions (which also has the effect of giving her grade A zettai ryouiki). She carries her main sidearms in cross-draw shoulder holsters, while her backup piece is kept in a holster strapped to the outside of her right thigh; she also has at least one knife in its scabbard strapped to her left thigh.

Personality: In three words, cocky, snarky, and rebellious. While not exactly boastful, Lillian/Alexandra is still extremely confident in her abilities as an alchemist, gunslinger, and knife fighter and will usually not hesitate to let people know in her own subtle manner; she can still be humble if the situation calls for it, though. Her sense of humor is generally quite dry; she typically has at least one snide comment prepared for every situation, and she almost never passes up any opportunity to wisecrack at another person's expense. Due to various past experiences, she tends to have very little respect for authority of any kind; she is a staunch supporter of personal liberties and takes a very dim view of those who would want to infringe on people's rights in any way. While she does not mind taking orders, she ultimately keeps her own counsel on what to follow and is all too willing to disobey her erstwhile superiors in order to serve her own purposes.

Lillian's overbearing and sarcastic demeanor is a mask, in more ways than one. Those who are unfamiliar with her tend to underestimate her abilities, easily overlooking the fact that she really is just that good; she can be a highly clever and tenacious opponent, making up for any deficiencies in skill with creativity and sheer determination. Needless to say, she is an extremely dirty fighter, willing to do just about anything in order to triumph against her enemies; she'd kill her opponent in a fair fight, or if she thought her opponent was going to start a fair fight.

Of course, given the circumstances of her past, it should be clear that Lillian is an extremely broken woman, still harboring significant feelings of bitterness and resentment stemming from her abusive childhood and her experiences in the Ishvalan Civil War. She prefers not to dwell on her past too much, though, because she knows all too well that there are more far important things to worry about, like how much money will be in her next paycheck or how many bullets are left in her pistol's magazine. Paradoxically, she still has a strong faith in humanity, and she puts great stock in the fundamental goodness of both herself and others. Ultimately, she is a highly compassionate woman who can always be counted on to do the right thing, even if her methods aren't exactly clean.

History: (EXTREMELY lengthy, placed under a spoiler cut so as not to stretch the page too much...)

Spoiler:
Lillian Archer was orphaned at an early age, and her earliest memories were of being taken in by a group of juvenile delinquents led by an adult thief and con artist named Garrett Metzger, who trained and used her in their underhanded enterprises. At first, she was simply sent out as a panhandler, though as she grew older, she was eventually taught how to pickpocket; she was also an active participant in numerous other scams and illegal activities under Garrett's direction. During this time, Lillian was befriended by Garrett's girlfriend Diane Isaacs, who raised the girl as her own daughter.

While Lillian desperately wanted to learn about her real family, Garrett tried his best to dissuade her in order to better keep her under his control. At one point, after learning from Diane that her biological family was part of Amestris' upper class, Lillian ran away from the Metzger gang and managed to track down her uncle Demetrius Archer and her older cousin Victoria Archer. Lillian's reunion with this part of her family went extremely poorly, though; her uncle suffered from severe mental illness, while her cousin was an utter sociopath who eventually sold her out to Garrett. Lillian would not learn about her real parents, Morgan and Patricia Archer, until she would reach adulthood.

While Lillian was an extremely intelligent girl, her formal education was spotty at best, like those of the other children Garrett employed as delinquents. With Diane's help, she managed to pick up some knowledge of math, the sciences (including alchemy), and history by reading books in her spare time. At various times, she would actually attend a proper school while undercover as part of a "respectable family" while Garrett was running a particularly complex con. At one point, Lillian was enrolled at a school where Führer Sebastian Klein was giving a speech; she asked a number of probing questions about the treatment of Ishvalans and about corruption in the Amestrian government, which managed to impress Führer Klein at the time. While the Führer eventually forgot about this encounter, Lillian was profoundly affected by the experience.

Lillian was by far the boldest, most rebellious, and hardest to control of the various youths under Garrett's thumb. As a result, Garrett found himself having to discipline the girl quite frequently; while this usually took the form of intense beatings, she was also threatened with rape as she grew older. By the time she was 17, Lillian had decided she had more than enough of Garrett's abuse and decided to strike out on her own. Just as Lillian was about to leave, Garrett and a few of his cohorts caught her as she was saying her goodbyes to Diane. The men attempted to stop her, leading to a shootout that resulted in the deaths of Diane (who had sacrificed herself to help Lillian make good her escape) and Garrett's younger brother Lawrence. Garrett never quite recovered from this slight and swore vengeance upon Lillian for all the suffering she had caused him.

With nowhere else to go, Lillian made an attempt to track down any other relatives she may have had, knowing full well that her uncle and cousin could not be relied upon in any way. It was not long before she met her aunt Katherine Archer, younger sister of Morgan and Demetrius Archer and a colonel in the State Military. It was from Katherine that Lillian finally learned about her real parents in detail, and it was on Katherine's personal recommendation that Lillian was admitted into the State Military Academy, where she managed to graduate with honors after barely passing the State Alchemist certification exam. Her State Alchemist title was "Breacher Alchemist," due to the fact that her alchemic specialties generally involved demolitions and other combat engineering duties.

With the Ishvalan Civil War raging, Lillian soon found herself thrown onto the front lines of the conflict, where she was placed in command of a State Military infantry company. She proved to be a rather divisive figure among the men and women under her command; half of them admired her for her firm yet fair and compassionate leadership style, while the other half considered her to be far too soft and passive for their own liking. Despite acquitting herself quite well in repeated encounters against the Ishvalans, her nay-sayers simply refused to reconsider their positions. The situation for her eventually came to a head when her unit stumbled into a particularly vicious ambush by Ishvalan insurgents due to wildly inaccurate intelligence. The senior NCO of the company, Sergeant Major Victor Montrose, disobeyed Lillian's orders to retreat and insisted on pressing forward, only to be wounded by an IED blast and subsequently getting trapped by several insurgents; Lillian was forced to rescue her wayward subordinate, killing the insurgents and reaching him just as the main force of Ishvalan fighters arrived on the battlefield. Victor, who was among the loudest critics of Lillian's leadership, repaid his commanding officer by shooting her and abandoning her to the Ishvalans. Victor managed to reach the company's rendezvous point and attempted to take over leadership of the unit by claiming that Lillian was dead, though he was soon forced to eat his words when Lillian arrived at the rendezvous point, having successfully managed to evade the Ishvalans despite her injuries. Angered by her subordinate's betrayal, she dispensed justice by shooting Victor in the head with the last remaining bullet in her sidearm. None chose to question Lillian's leadership from that point onwards.

As the Ishvalan Civil War dragged on, Lillian and the rest of her steadily-dwindling infantry company grew increasingly disaffected with the seemingly endless conflict and bloodshed that surrounded them. They desperately sought a way to escape, and they received their chance when Lillian received word from an Ishvalan captive of a cache of gold bars hidden within an abandoned bank. Lillian and several of her most loyal soldiers quickly hatched a go-for-broke plan to raid the bank, take the gold, and leave Ishval; after successfully fooling her superiors into believing that her unit was on a mission to root out an entrenched insurgent stronghold, Lillian set out on her quest. The actual heist was largely successful, though quite a few of Lillian's remaining soldiers were killed during the process. After splitting the gold evenly with the surviving collaborators, Lillian departed, mere days before the Ishvalan Civil War met its violent end. Those few members of her unit who chose to remain simply reported to their superiors that Lillian and the other deserters had died in battle against the Ishvalans and that their corpses were burned beyond any hope of identification during the aftermath of the siege.

Legally presumed dead, in the possession of a large amount of gold, and free from her responsibilities to the State, Lillian decided to turn over a new leaf. In order to further deflect any remaining suspicion from herself, she altered her appearance, assumed the alias "Alexandra Troy," and took to the deserts of eastern Amestris as a wanderer, taking up whatever jobs she could to support herself and supplant her stolen gold. In the five years since the end of the Ishval Civil War, Lillian/Alexandra took up several not-so-legitimate careers, such as smuggling, moonshining, bounty hunting, and arms dealing; while she cared little for the legality of her jobs, she never did the wrong thing in terms of morality.

By sheer chance, one of Lillian/Alexandra's assignments had her go back to Central, where she was "reunited" with Garrett Metzger and what was left of his gang. Garrett would never get his chance to get his vengeance on Lillian, for she would claim hers first by wiping out the last remnants of the Metzger gang in one fell swoop and claiming the bounties on their heads. After taking a few more jobs back in the east to pad her pocketbook a bit more, Lillian/Alexandra resettled in Central, adopting the Metzger gang's old haunt as her base of operations.

With the xylica plague starting to ravage Amestris, Lillian/Alexandra found herself privy to the rumors of the State Military assembling a team of "specialists" to search for potential cures to the plague, and she leapt at the opportunity to join up. Money and the simple satisfaction of doing even a little bit of good in this ugly world are her main motivations for wanting to join up, even if it means having to take orders from a corrupt State once more...

Weapons: Lillian/Alexandra has been known to utilize a wide variety of firearms. Her favored sidearms are the Colt M1911A1, Browning Hi-Power, and wz. 35 Vis; other pistols in her possession include two Mauser C96s (a Bolo Mauser and an M712 Schnellfeuer), a Tokarev TT-33, and three different .380 ACP pistols (specifically, a Beretta M1934, a Colt M1908 Pocket Hammerless, and a Walther PPK). She typically carries the M1911 and the Vis as her main sidearms, with the M1908 Pocket Hammerless as her backup piece. For covert operations, her M1911, Hi-Power, M1934, and PPK all have threaded barrels that can accept silencers.

For situations where heavier firepower is required, Lillian does not hesitate to call upon bigger guns. Her favorites for close-range work are the Thompson M1921 (fitted with a drum magazine and carried around in a violin case, of course) and the Colt Monitor, as well as a milspec Winchester M1897 fitted with a bayonet and a sawed-off Browning Auto-5. For long-distance work, she relies on her old Springfield M1903 service rifle. Other longarms in her possession include a PPSh-41 (with both box and drum magazines), a Sten Mark IIS, and an MP40. Lillian also makes occasional use of grenades, such as Mills bombs, F1s, and Model 24s.

Even without her plethora of guns, Lillian is still a dangerous close-quarters fighter, particularly with knives. She is especially fond of her old military-issue KA-BAR, Fairbain-Sykes Fighting Knife, and M1905 and M1917 bayonets, though she has been known to use other blades in combat. Of course, she can also use her alchemy as a direct offensive weapon, though she typically only does so as a last resort.

Alchemy: As befitting her former title of "Breacher Alchemist," Lillian/Alexandra is particularly adept at demolitions. Her preferred media are metal, earth, and stone, all of which she can reshape in much the same way as a potter would clay. In her days as a State Alchemist, she lived up to her title and earned a reputation for being a fortress buster, using her alchemy to break through the Ishvalans' defensive lines (reshaping wire obstacles, disarming or prematurely detonating explosives, filling in trenches, breaching walls and other barriers, breaking into bank vaults, et cetera). Of course, she was also capable of using her abilities for constructive purposes, such as improvising explosives (the Jam Tin Grenade was a particular favorite of hers), repairing weapons and other equipment, setting up defensive positions for the Amestrian forces, and even manufacturing guns (mostly simple designs such as the Sten and PPSh-41) out in the field. Nowadays, Lillian almost exclusively uses her alchemy for repair work and other relatively minor duties, though she can still (literally) bring down the house if need be.

One of the more unusual applications of Lillian's alchemic skills was for moonshining. Considering the hazards inherent to illegal alcohol manufacturing, Lillian needed a way to quickly and effectively remove any impurities or contaminants from her products, and alchemy proved to be just the ticket for her. Alchemically purifying moonshine involves shifting the atomic and molecular composition of the product, transforming unwanted compounds like methanol, acetone, glycols, and aldehydes into regular water and ethanol. Of course, Lillian is easily capable of performing the reverse, tainting alcohol instead of purifying it (typically by increasing the methanol content); she can also alter the chemical compositions of people's bodily fluids, with mixed success depending on the desired end result.

Lillian facilitates most of her alchemy via the transmutation circles embroidered on her gloves. For more complex transmutations or for those not involving either earth or water, she must have to draw the circles herself; she typically has a few of these "non-standard" transmutation circless scrawled on pieces of paper that she keeps with her, though there have been times when she's had to draw them completely on the fly (read: while in combat).

RP Sample: (One of many assignments that Lillian/Alexandra took prior to the start of the story...)

Captain Malcolm Dryden had been assigned to manage mining operations in the town of Youswell after the previous military governor had been implicated in an embezzlement scheme. However, Captain Dryden proved to be far more corrupt than his predecessor ever was, raising taxes even more while simultaneously slashing the wages of Youswell's inhabitants to all-time lows. His greed did not stop even there, for he started selling military secrets to enemy nations in order to further line his deepening pockets, though few knew of his treason. Youswell's citizens could scarcely trust the State Military a second time, so they chose to hire outside help to deal with the problem once and for all. They brought in Alexandra Troy.

Needless to say, Captain Dryden was in for a very unpleasant surprise when he walked into his personal office in his mansion on that fateful night. The first thing he noticed when he entered the room was that his personal safe had been cracked open and completely emptied. "Interesting things you have in that safe of yours, Captain," Alexandra spoke up. "Gouging the residents of this town is one thing, but selling secrets? Seriously? If the folks back at East HQ weren't unhappy with you before, they'd definitely be unhappy now."

Captain Dryden turned to face the female vigilante as he walked over to his desk and sat down in his chair. "If you think those theatrics are supposed to scare me," he remarked as he reached into his drawer for his gun, "you've got the wrong man, Miss Troy. Besides, if East HQ was so sure that I was bent, they'd send one of their own to do the job, not a freelancer like yourself. Even in my relatively low position, I still know what goes on around me." The corrupt captain brought up his service piece, a bog-standard FN M1910, and aimed directly at Alexandra. "A shame, really. We barely got to know each other."

Captain Dryden pulled the trigger, only to hear the clicking of the firing pin. Alexandra simply produced the M1910's magazine from her blazer pocket and flashed a mocking smile at him. "I know where you keep your gun. That's gotta count for something."

The captain chuckled mirthlessly. "True," he said. "So, how'd they die?"

"Those worthless bodyguards of yours?" Alexandra replied with a question of her own. "You didn't see my handiwork on your way in? Rest assured, they ain't gonna be resting very well, I'll tell you that much."

Captain Dryden's gaze settled on the still-bleeding cut on Alexandra's left cheek. "You've killed so many people, I doubt you still feel anything," he remarked.

"Actually, I still feel something when I kill," Alexandra quipped as she pulled out a silenced Colt M1911A1 and double-tapped Captain Dryden directly in the heart. "Recoil." She let loose with a mirthless chuckle of her own as she collected her papers and picked up the captain's dropped gun. She knew that her payment wouldn't be much, but at least she did the right thing for the inhabitants of Youswell. East HQ would later receive the incriminating documents from Captain Dryden's safe, along with a lengthy and detailed letter telling them to either find someone who wasn't hopelessly corrupt or let the people run their own town for once. All in a day's work for the woman who once called herself Lillian Archer, the Breacher Alchemist.

...how many characters are you accepting? It seems like you've got a lot of reserved spots but if there's any left, may I have one? otherwise, hit me up if there's ever an open spot!

Well, I won't be accepting based on first-come first-serve. The RP sample exists so I can weed out potential RPers that might impede the quality of the RP overall. I can't accept everyone, unfortunately.

In that case, I'll get an SU up probably in like 24-28 hours!

Name: Bradley Doc Swisher

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Profession: Automobile Mechanic [temporary]

Appearance: Standing at a respectable six-foot two-inches and weighing nearly two hundred pounds in strength, Bradley radiates an intimidating aura. He often sports a black bandana that wraps around his head but doesn’t cover the top, which makes for the top of his hair to be bleached golden by the sun while the sides remain darker, concealed by the stereotypical mechanic headgear. This also causes his hair to appear frazzled and unkempt, especially when uncovered. Bradley’s eyes are a very gentle amber shade and are naturally like giant moons in the center of his head, between them originating his long, prominent nose. Thick eyebrows as dark as his untainted, original hair color sit above them, but it would be a mistake to call them bushy as they are cleanly defined. Bradley has lips of a large width but that hardly bulge- they’re rather flat, actually. It isn’t uncommon to spot dark stubble sprouting on his square jaw and chin, but he tries to keep his face smooth when he can. On lower stomach is a transmutation circle embedded into the skin.

Baggy cargo pants and a grease-smeared wifebeater are Bradley’s working attire, with a black smudge sometimes on his cheek or forehead. He owns circular spectacles but avoids wearing them unless absolutely necessary.

Personality: On the exterior, Mr. Swisher seems to be a rather normal, likable man. He has a keen sense of humor, especially for sarcasm, but has manners enough to know when to repress joking comments, particularly around the wealthy. Generally people flock towards his charisma and charm, though he remains modest enough, further augmenting his popularity. Surprisingly, Bradley’s book smart outmatches his street smarts. Yes, he is adequately literate and has a full education, but his natural intellect lies in his self-taught areas. He is most adept in assembling, rearranging and disassembling- objects and elements alike. He is fascinated with how things work and frequently dismantles things in the rapidly expanding branch of technology to discover how they tick, sometimes attempting to create his own inventions.

But Bradley has a very personal, buried side. Despite being so respected and admired, he is incredibly self conscious, always over-concerned with how his comments and actions will be observed and analyzed. This worry is hidden and is highly unexpected but is always haunting in the back of his mind. Stubbornness encompasses his entire personality, meaning that he always has to get what he wants and won’t back down until he does. Subtly, Bradley manipulates others to achieve his ends since he’s typically smarter than his subjects and can easily sway them. But being stubborn also means that he always stands by his loyalties, which are few but strong.

History: The Swishers first made their dwelling in a small village in the Northern Amestris but were transferred to EastCity when Charles Swisher, Bradley’s father, was promoted to a Lieutenant to serve at the military base there. The year was 1902 and the Ishvalan conflict was intensifying. Bradley was 11. His father was then dragged into the deceitful fray, and returned a year later due to his psychological insufficiency and/or degeneration, forever changed. Charles distanced himself from his wife and son, never speaking about his brief but horrific experience. He began relying heavily on the liquor and in his drunk fits would ramble about and draw transmutation circles but was never violent or dangerous. The entire city was aware of Charles’ condition, and so Bradley was alienated at school, not one child showing his sympathy or kindness, deriving his biting self consciousness. Curious about his father’s obsession and alone, he began studying up on transmutation circles and therein delved into Alchemy. A few years passed and Bradley, in his early teen years, was able to transmute things, though reaching failure far more often than success. He wasn’t particularly adept at drawing transmutation circles but instead copied his father’s drunken art. When Bradley was sixteen, during one of his father’s untreated, undiagnosed drunkard episodes, his father violently pinned him to the ground, rabidly muttering about Alchemy with a small dagger in his hand. In the morning, Bradley had a new scar on his abdominals- one in the shape of a transmutation circle. In the police investigation, Charles was found to have been sober. Finally he was induced into an asylum. Mrs. Swisher, by this time, was completely shattered. So after a few more years of partially-healing at home with his mother, Bradley had honed his transmuting skills, relying on the abominable gift carved into his hand as a tool to skip out on drawing a transmutation circle. Seeing that a new romance was starting to bud between his mother and another man and that he was no longer needed, Bradley moved to Central City when he was 20 where he took up jobs using Alchemy and his intuition to repair the aristocrats’ fancy automobiles. Starting over, the young adult man was no longer subjected to discriminatory alienation and found that he flourishing socially in the community. He has since gained quite a bit of renown in his job, but Bradley plans on doing something better with his Alchemy, though nothing in the military.

Weapon: He has multiple repairing tools, such as a wrench, screw driver, etc in his portable tool bag and also carries a small but sentimental dagger and a flask of water, used for transmuting only.

Alchemy: Bradley’s specialty is state change, particularly heating. After pressing his hands to his stomach in order to activate his transmutation circle and placing them on the item, he generally proceeds to alter the motion and increase or decreasing the kinetic energy of atoms of whatever he’s transmuting so that they vibrate faster or slower, effectively causing heating or cooling.

Note: He can’t transmute air into fire, but can only heat it.

Bradley used this method in his job to start engines and engine parts and to clean them with hot water, mostly. In the little experience of battle that he has Bradley was able to burn skin and heat up clothing, the ground and air, realizing that he could cool all of these things as well. If a critical, life-or-death situation arose he has planned that he would evaporate or freeze the water in his foe’s body. This fighting style forces the alchemist to be mainly physical as he needs to touch that which he is transmuting, except for when altering air or the ground or the water thrown from his flask, which obviously can be done at a distance.

RP Sample: “You won’t dance?” The disappointment in her voice was so chilling that Bradley could feel his heart physically sink a few more inches.

The restaurant was vibrating with soothing chatter, lovers exchanging unbreakable remarks under the dim lighting in their booths. He hadn’t been expecting such a classy joint and was for more underdressed than Clarice, the beautifully young woman seated across from him, and everyone else in the low-ceilinged room, even the waiters. Sweaty palms and a very uptight posture showed that Bradley was unnerved by his attire, which was what first caused his heart to sink. And now she wanted to move to the tiled floor designated for slow dancing from the grand piano placed in front of the elegant red curtain, to throw themselves up for the perceptive eyes to judge. His common brown eyes slowly moved from her waist to her narrow eyes of the most royal blue.

“I don’t think you’d want to dance with me; I’m highly uncoordinated.” False, he had quite keen coordination and happened to be a very smooth dancer. Clarice’s dainty red lips curled up, and her short arm of fair skin reached across the table, the silver bracelet glittering even under such dim lights. Surely much of her outfit was borrowed, for she hadn’t such luxuries. She grasped his strong hand, which only made it sweat more.

“But I only want to dance with you, Bradley Doc. Your feet will end up more bruised than mine, I’m sure. Let’s show these people how to loosen up, what do you say?” These people. She didn’t feel a relation to the powerful aristocrats that frequented the restaurant and that Bradley had to endure every day? Didn’t even desire one? Oh how his heart was exploding with affection. Clarice deserved better than a hushed dinner surrounded by arrogant upperclassmen. The only reason that the couple even was able to be seated at such a place was because the manager’s car had broken down last week and after Bradley expertly revived it, the man realized he had left his wallet in the theater and instead of paying insisted that he would provide the alchemist and a guest with a free dinner because of the inconvenience. So the event wasn’t even of Bradley’s doing but was caused by another man’s mistake.

“Clarice, dear,” he started after a few moments of silence, gently squeezing her hand, “I’ll dance with you, but not here. We don’t belong here.” Here sapphires bulged with surprise and something of a shade of relief. “To the bar?” Bradley Swisher was too scarred to ever drink, and his date knew that which attested to his desire to leave. She giggled and it seemed to echo through the entire the restaurant.

“Yes please!”

YES! Thank you!

Name: Tenshi Fallen
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Profession: Helping Others (No real profession)
Appearance: Silver is one of the few remaining with Ishvalan blood, but he is hybrid. His mother was not. The result was white hair and purple eyes (A mix of Ishvalan red and normal blue). Speaking of which, he has no pupils, as he is clearly blind. But his senses are extra-ordinary, and it's almost as if he could see just fine. He had his white hair short and spiked forward. His left ear was pierced with a cross earring, dangling from a chain. He has no general wardrobe, except that he always wears shorts (that go a bit past his knees, baggy but not saggy) and either a T-shirt or a sleeveless shirt. Usually black shorts and whtie or light blue shirts, occasionally he wears his white hoodie. He has a horizontal slashing scar across his face. (NOT COPYING SCAR the character, if you've been in an RP with me, the scar is always there.) He wears sandals, not shoes. His face shows his personality. He is decently tall, standing around 5'11" or 5'12".
Personality: He is young, childish on occasion, but openly kind to people, and will help however he can, if they are kind people. He is quiet, but likes to see happy people, and he hopes to find some friends around his age.
History: As stated before, he is half-Ishvalan. That is really the only history that is known about him. Though there is a rumor, that he was born from heaven, that he fell from the sky, that he is an angel. Notably, he has wings, but he is able to dematerialize and rematerialize his wings via alchemy. There is no explanation of how, but he can create alchemy with his hands; He knows the truth. Some say he was simply born with it. Along the story, more will be revealed.
Weapons: Usually dual-blades (Meaning a knife in each hand, that is his style, extremely quick and skillful.) He loves knives, and can throw knives as well, with unbelievable accuracy.
Alchemy: Without Transmutation circles. His alchemy consists of fire (Yes, it fails to work in the rain XD), and creation and deconstruction of pretty much anything. He loves making beautiful jewels and gems, but not for money, but because he loves to look at them. His favorite stone is Amethyst, a wonderful purple stone that matches his eyes. He uses creation and destruction regularly, making his own place to stand or sit when one is unavailable.

RP Sample:

Tenshi felt a pang of sadness as a little girl stood crying on the corner. He knelt down and picked her chin up, looking at her eyes, his voice was soft and gentle, as usual.

"What has you crying, young child?"

The girl sniffled, tears dripping from her cheeks, and pointed up at a small green dot in the sky. "M-my b-b-balloon f-flew away f-from m-m-me..."

He smiled down at her as he stood up and then looked at it.

"Don't worry, young girl, I shall retrieve it..."

"R-really!?" She wiped her tears and looked confused up at Tenshi. "H-how?? You'd have to grow wings and--"

Tenshi's wings appeared in a burst of blue flames (Unlike most alchemy which bursts in red of black lightning, his is blue fire). They were large at full span, and they were shining, a royal blue color. He blasted into the air and quickly caught up to the balloon, and flew it down to the girl, landing gently on one knee. He wrapped the string of the balloon around her hand, and let his magnificent wings fold behind his back. He walked quietly down the road.

"Thank you, mister!!" The girl shouted at him as he left.

He lifted his hand and waved, turned his head and smiled.

"Don't thank me, I just want to help...!" He shouted back. And with that, he walked.

Really bad, but ehh...

Name: Jonah Baxter "The Fiery Light Alchemist"

Spoiler:
Age: 19

Gender: male

Profession: State Alchemist

Appearance: Jonah is a handsome, Caucasian young man with a well-fit body, having muscles and pronounced abs after the years of training he has endured. He is known for his messy, black hair going down to his ears. He is usually found wearing leg-lengthed black trousers along with a red shirt and blue jacket. The jacket is long-sleeved and is usually never zipped up, except when he is traveling in cold weather. He has several battle scars on his arms and legs. He usually carries a backpack and has sheeths for his swords on both sides of his body. He has bluish-green eyes and weighs at 180 lbs and stands at 6'2".

Personality: He is a nice boy but does act immature occassionaly, whether it being the fact that he is foul-mouthing someone or playing a friendly prank. He can be sometimes egotistic but is usually always selfless, standing up for his beliefs and friends. He will usually decide to go the negotiable way rather than fighting. Although when he is angered, he sometime skips the negotiation part. He is both quite brave and loyal and will never back down from a challenge.

He is sometimes considered a hero as he tends to help those in need.

History: Born in 1894 to a a pair of State Alchemists, Jonah grew up with high amounts of training. He was a rather annoying kid at his young age, constantly being curious and getting into trouble. His family, well known for their Alchemical skills, decided that it was time for his training to begin at the age of four. Thus he started his training under the tutelage of his father, Comitatus Baxter who was a growing figure in the Ametris military. His father taught him everything, from hand-to-hand combat to swordplay, Fire Alchemy to Water Alchemy, though he obviously started with the basics.

At fourteen, Jonah took the State-Alchemy test, passing with flying colors in the practical and written test. His parents then threw a party, happy with the fact that their son had passed with better scores than they did and could possibly be a better Alchemist. It was here that he experienced his first bout of real fighting.

At the party, an undercover Alchemist from an opposing country crashed the party, killing two people celebrating. Jonah decided this would be the perfect time to use his Alchemy and prove himself. He quickly utilized the power of the tattoos on his fingers, each one set for a different kind of Alchemy, and took the oxygen from the air and heated it, starting a controlled fire. He used the fire and shot several blasts towards the man, surprising him and knocking him unconscious.

At the age of fifteen, Jonah's father became a general in the army and requested for his son to be promoted too. Somehow, this request worked and Jonah was transfered to an elite team consisting of few Alchemist and gave him small command during missions.

Jonah had started studying the art of Lightning Alchemy soon after he turned 17 and had been given the nickname, The Fiery Light Alchemist, by the Fuhrer. Jonah has continued to serve under his unit until he was requested to join the team to find the Elixir of Life.

Weapons: Two twin swords that can easily be imbued with several Alchemic properties. On the other hand, without these swords he is able to use hand-to-hand combat as he has been taught Martial Arts. He is able to use offensive and defensive Alchemy too in order to fight.

Alchemy: Jonah has been given 4 different Alchemical tattoos, each associating with a specific Alchemy(fire, lightning, water, earth). He also

Jonah uses a wide range of Alchemy, whether it be stuff he learned or created. His main Alchemy techniques tends to arrive at Flame and Lightning, though he does do bits of Water and Earth when needed. His Flame Alchemy, being is best techniques, is what usually resorts too. He can easily transmute the air around him into bursts of fire for combat and other needs. His favorite Flame techniques include short flame bursts and walls of fire.

His Lightning Alchemy is above par but no where near as good as that of skilled Lightning users. Jonah uses this form of Alchemy only in battle or to channel energy and to shorten the length of a battle by defeating the enemy quicker. His favorite technique for this is channeling the lightning into blasts of energy, sort of like a gun.

His Water and Earth Alchemy, being his lowest skilled Alchemy, usually exhausts him when used too much in a short period. He usually uses his Water Alchemy for alternate purposes from battling, such as for food or helping create rain, but he does have some techniques including blasts of water that he transmutes from the soil or the molecules in the air. He usually uses this type of Alchemy to easily summon Lightning.

His Earth capabilities are very limited, thus the most he can really do is make a small shield or a pillar to raise himself higher. He sometimes copies the Alchemy of others but most of the time, these are never as highly skilled for him unless practiced. For these Alchemy styles, he usually carries a Alchemy diary encrypted with these techniques. Also he has been to the Gate, thus he doesn't always need a transmutation circle.

Jonah has also meddled in Alkahestry, knowing that he would being needing medical skills for his adventures and helping his team. Other ways Jonah uses Alchemy is creating wood for fire or cloth for his clothing.

Rp Sample:

(I may do First Person during the RP)

Jonah lifted his hand from the ground as he finished his trap, ready for the invading attackers. As he gazed across the stone pillars in front of him, he smiled. This is a perfect place for me to stage the counter-attack, he thought. There is no way in hell anyone will get through this. He started towards his position assigned to him. We'll get the job done.

He started scouring the desert in front of him. He had three sub-teams ready for command on his right and left flanks while his own commander was behind. They shouldn't have sent my team to completely different positions, he thought, realizing he was the only Alchemist there. In the far distance, he could see the enemy forces, heading right towards the trap. He smiled again and lifted his hand, ready to activate. Then he heard something, or was it more like he felt it. He contemplated on what it was but it was soon answered.

His trap had just erupted by another Alchemist, yet, no one on his team did it. They came prepared, he thought. He took out a pair of binoculars and spotted the Alchemist, just getting back onto his horse. He signaled another officer about the Alchemist and then the man started sending that to the others. They would still be ready. The enemies pressed forward and the Commander ordered the men to start the counter-attack.

Jonah took out his swords and started transmuting the powers of the weapons. Fire will be good for this battle, he thought. In front of him, the battle had already started and men from both sides were already dying. We need to make this quick. He ran forward, towards the other Alchemist, who was all aware of the coming attack.

He reflected Jonah's blade off his own Bo staff and jumped from his horse. The two Alchemists fell into the battle quickly, hitting blow for blow against each other. Jonah reached his swords out, the Flame Alchemy sizzling on the tips. The swords caught onto the other Alchemist sleeve and tore it away, exposing the skin and starting a fire on the rest of the mans clothes. Jonah looked at the man as he tried to extinguish the flame, but apparently he wasn't all that great in Flame Alchemy...

Well, you can cancel my reservation. I'm afraid i'm already in enough RPs, no matter how much I want to be in a FMA RP. ):

Well.....heeere it is!!!
Spoiler:
Name: Alan Mitchell

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Profession: Traveling Fighter, Researcher, and an Aspiring State Alchemist.

Appearance: Quite a large male, as he has a bit of muscle tone. He stands no more than 6'3" with a toned, and well-built frame. His long jet-black hair which runs down his neck, to end up being shoulder length with his baby face too complete it all makes him quite handsome. He has clear, metal silver eyes, and a chin that juts out just a bit (the opposite of a receding chin), making him seem a bit bigger and more serious than he really is. His complexion is tanned, but not exceedingly tanned due to having a small amount of Ishvalan Blood inside of him from his grandparents, as of right now, he is one-eighth Ishvalan. She wears a thin, long sleeved white shirt. He loves wearing sleeveless shirts but he usually wears a button down collared shirt, rolling his sleeves up when he wants to do alchemy, he usually wears jeans with that shirt, and the colors usually change, but he keeps a dark motif with his clothing always. With black sneakers, the outfit is complete. Shirtless, you would see a series of tattoos on his back down to his palms, but those tattoos have to do with his alchemy, which will be explained later.

Personality:
Calculating. He tends to act like a happy talkative person sometimes, and sometimes acts very quiet. Deep at heart, Alan is a kind person, and with no job, he just travels the world to learn about the world. However, he is a social faux pas. He has trouble making friends and because of that, often seems as lonely and quiet, he has almost no social skills, but in battle his true personality (which is quite cocky) is revealed. His insatiable hunger for becoming the master of his craft is strong and unrivaled. He is endlessly curious (thus asking plenty of useless questions which might have no relation to the problem at hand) and changes his usually serious demeanor when it comes to finding out new information about anything pertaining to what he wants to know - alchemy, people, new skills, etc.

Alan tends to say things at the wrong time, even though it might have been the right thing to say at another time. His intentions are nothing but good, but he has almost no skill at expressing them in words. He loves the art of battle alchemy, especially weapons and elemental alchemy, and he is an expert in most types, being able to tell what type of alchemy someone does just by looking at the position they take before they use alchemy, or by even glancing at their transmutation circles for a few seconds due to spending about half a year just studying transmutation circles. Although a bit eccentric, he is an intelligent and skilled young man, capable of doing great feats with his alchemy. Of course, there is a part of him that just wants to belong. He hopes that by his alchemy and his knowledge that he will be able to achieve that goal.

When in a battle situation, or confronted with a problem, Alan tends to examine the problem, make a diagnosis, and then to rush into the problem head on, making up the solution as he goes, he would’ve had at least a basic idea before he goes into the problem at least. He doesn’t like conflicts, but when he has to, he will use violence. He will defend himself and others when necessary, but he makes sure that violence is the last option, unless of course he is angry, then he will act brash and recklessly, but even in anger, he still has a limited amount of restraint.

History:

Born in a small town in Amestris, Alan was raised in a family of hard workers and warriors, he was expected to make a name for himself with his fists, and due to the fact that he wasn’t strong, but he was fast and smart it was harder in his family, especially when they expected that from him at a young age. From a young age, he enjoyed going to one of his neighbors houses and reading all of the alchemy books that the father had in his library, the owners knew, and he was quite a skilled alchemist, even at a young age. He enjoyed the feeling of having something that he was strong in, and that he could do better than almost anyone in his family, excluding his grandfather who was part Ishvalan, and was a very skilled alchemist.

However, at the age of eleven, one of his friends had a dog who was hurt and was missing a leg, it was still alive, his friends knew that he used alchemy to fix things, and so they expected him to ‘fix’ the dog, he tried his best after gathering the ingredients, and he couldn’t do much more than to construct automail for the dog, from that moment he lost all of his friends and became a lonely boy, with only his grandfather as a friend, strengthening that bond when he left his home to live with his grandfather and read all of his grandfather’s alchemy books. After months of pondering and reflection, Alan decided that he could not stay an alchemy repairman for the rest of his life, and when his grandfather died, he sent all of his grandfather’s possessions to his father excluding one book he kept for himself, and went on a journey to find himself, and to become a much better alchemist. He kept the book on battle and weapons alchemy, and it also had some principles on elemental alchemy.

No longer as brash or reckless as his family had raised him to be, Alan began studying the harsher sides of alchemy, such as weapons and elemental alchemy, and stopped learning about repairing using alchemy, although he did use the repairing for some basic exercises while he was starting up his elemental alchemy. His abilities might have remained if he had not met a man. The man was a state alchemist. He had met the state alchemist who used fire, and explained that he could use alchemy by turning his body into the circle, and explained how the circle can be on the gloves, or even his body, and eventually he learned how to use the air to assist in his alchemy, and even how to control the direction of fire that he had created by condensing the air, or making the air more volatile for fire. But he found fire not to be his favorite element to play with, nor water, or the earth, but he appreciated the man for helping him to hone his skills. They parted not long after, but Alan would spend the following years honing his battling skills with the bits and pieces of knowledge the stranger gave him, he did this by fighting some local criminals, and even battling some state alchemists for fun, but every time he tried fighting a state alchemist, he would either lose or tie. He eventually decided to begin studying in order to become a state alchemist, but before he could make precautionary steps, he was taken in by the government, and asked to join a team to help find panacea, a mystical healing elixir. Although he didn’t believe it existed, he had a chance to have access to a large amount of research books, and so he decided to join, hoping that he could further his alchemy, and he knew that if anyone could weed out all of the information about the crystal and panacea it would have to be him.

Weapons:
Alchemy and a large bowl inside of a backpack he carries around. The bag is 3 feet long and 1½ feet wide. The bowl inside contains liquefied metal, which is a great conductor of electricity that is vital for his alchemy. This is due to the fact that he is good with a plethora of weapons, and instead of him to carry a bunch of different weapons around, he would carry the liquefied metal and change it into a solid weapon when he needed to. He made sure that the various metals inside of the liquefied metal mixture was somewhat of an alloy, which was a great conductor of electricity, and very shiny in appearance but not too reflective. The bag is custom made so that in case he needs a projectile, he can reach into a small pocket of the bag and some liquid metal will drip out, which can then be changed into a projectile on a moment’s notice. Among his favorite weapons to make using the metal are a lance, and a sword, or short twin katana which are held in reverse which allow him to incorporate his whole body into the fight. If he needs to make a sword, he will grab a hilt, or two hilts which he would’ve made beforehand, and would’ve then stuck the hilts into the liquefied metal and pulled out a sword. If he needed to make a lance, he would stick a short t-shaped piece of iron out and stick it into the liquefied metal, although from the bottom of his bag, as there is an opening there which the t-shaped piece of metal can fit through, and that would allow him to simply stick it into the bottom of his bag, and pull out a lance, and once the lance is out, he will stick the top into the pool of liquefied metal in order to increase its length. He makes a large amount of weapons like that also. The container for the liquid metal is kept very well and built so that metal can never leak out unless he needs it to.

Alchemy: Alan has transmutation symbols tattooed on his shoulders, his back, his arms, the back of his hands, and the palms of his hands.

On his back he bears an equilateral triangle, representing the three main points of alchemy. The bottom point of the triangle represents comprehension, which is at the bottom because without comprehension the other two parts of alchemy are not possible. Then on the left side of the triangle there is deconstruction. The right side is recreation. The tattoos he then bears on the bottom of his lower arms (the part of the arm from the elbow to the wrist) represent deconstruction, and on the top part of his lower arm, the tattoos represent recreation. The two tattoos are divided by an invisible line only shown by a thin line of cleared skin, then the tattoos reach a confluence and on his palms there are full transmutation circles, although they are for one half of his battle alchemy.

On the back of his palm he has a special transmutation circle specific for his electricity or ‘lightning’ alchemy. For this alchemy he does not need to clap his hands together, but he needs to either remove the fingerless black gloves he wear to conceal the tattoos on his hands or to wear gloves with the markings on them. But, he usually uses the tattoos on his palms for explosions, while the ones on the back of his hand are for concentrated lightning.

He uses the tattoos for deconstruction to either deconstruct the air into more volatile ‘ingredients’ or he uses his weapon as a conductor for his electricity. Then, he uses the reconstruction tattoos as a circle to recombine the ‘ingredients’ in the air into a similar substance, but the only difference is that the electrons in the substance are more excited, and if he compresses the air around it, or moves changes the medium to cause a designated path to direct the lightning. The problem with this is that he cannot produce lightning if there is too much water, such as a flood, because he would lose control of it. If there was a lightning storm, he could draw the lightning to him and redirect it, but he would have to make sure that he took apart the water and made a very clear path. The second problem is that even though he could produce lightning in water, by taking apart the hydrogen and oxygen and reconstructing it as part water, and maybe part CO3, he would not be able to control it if the water if it was in a large amount, and if it was too dry, there wouldn’t be a strong enough medium to conduct his electricity besides his weapon, and his weapon’s electrical powers are augmented by the weather, and if too wet, Alan could lose control, if too dry, the lightning wouldn’t be much more than a tickle. If he wants to make an explosion, he then reconstructs the air as a similar substance which is more volatile, and then puts in a substance in the air which would ignite it. There are two problems with this, if he decides to make an explosion, and he does not contain it, the explosion would continue to expand and expand breaking down the air in its path to make more room for the explosion, and the other problem is that if he made the explosion and someone simply made the air around them, either extremely humid, or extremely dry, the explosion would dissipate. Another problem is that the only longe range weapons he can use besides lightning charged projectiles are just chains and whips.

I really need time to work on my signups. Hopefully tomorrow... XD

Alright, going through what has been submitted...

Accepted: Lily, Cooker, CrossJHero

@Supervegeta: Could I get a little more information about your alchemy?

For anyone else, it's just a matter of quality. You can try and expand on things if you want, and I'll look it over and decide again.

I updated my SU. I gave more detail to the Alchemy section and changed it a little as well. I also changed the Weapons sections as well briefly. I hope this is ok, and that I'm accepted.

Alright, Supervegeta is accepted. I started on my first signup. Getting tired now though so I'll stop for the night. Long history is long. x.x

Name: Elias Kuefer
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Profession: State Alchemist - The Ravaged Alchemist

Appearance:
His lack of a right arm aside, the first thing people tend to notice about Elias is his Ishvalan hair. Long and white, it frames his face and falls messily down his back. His eyes, golden in colour, are always taking in his surroundings and seemingly piercing the darkness. He's had his fair share of unruly encounters over the course of his time as a State Alchemist, and as a result he's almost constantly wary, even when it appears that he isn't. His body is muscular while not being overly so, so that he can move with a greater agility, and his skin is toned a little darker than most, almost halfway between the regular colouring and Ishvalan colouring.

In terms of clothing, he definitely doesn't dress like your regular State Alchemist. Due to the types of missions the Fuhrer sends him on, his garb is a lot darker in colour, and designed for sneaking around in the shadows. Starting from his legs and up, he sports a pair of tight, dark pants that are located underneath a pair of lighter, greyer pair of shorts. These shorts meet with a near-black shirt that he wears as an undershirt, and sticks out underneath a vest that is the same colour of his shorts. His chest is partially exposed as the outfit has a sort of v-neck, and overtop is a grey jacket with a darker grey collar that is popped upwards, a purple scarf hanging around the collar. A rusty red cloak covers most of his body, and a golden necklace hangs from his neck. His left wrist is bound in black fabric that also fastens his blade to his hand.

Personality:
A man with little regard for his actual job, Elias spends little time on his assignments, and instead has to be coaxed into doing his work. He at one point had an ongoing hatred for the State, but it was calmed over time with the help of a number of supportive friends. He now tolerates his work - mostly wild goose chases the State sends him on. The Philosopher's Stone, artifacts, he's treated as more of a treasure hunter than anything, despite his combat prowess. He isn't afraid to exploit his State Alchemist authority, and often ends up in trouble as a result. However, he has yet to have his rank of Major stripped from him, so it appears he's being given some room to move about for some reason. Due to his various... skills involving thievery and alchemy that had him hunting various artifacts for the State, he was contacted regarding finding Panacea, and wasn't given a choice in participating.

With his time as a State Alchemist being the product of a quest for revenge, Elias conducts a lot of shady deals in the background to find the important information he is looking for, and as a result he tends to not share his past with just any person who asks. Because he's looking for someone amidst the military, however, doesn't mean he is against being nice to his fellow officers. He fully understands that everyone has their own reasons for becoming dogs of the military and makes a point to help others when he can. He isn't a bad person, although his responses may come off as edgy and uncaring from time to time. He gets unnecessarily angry when people inquire into his past, for example.

A loyal friend, once you earn the youth's trust, it's hard to lose it. He has an especially soft spot for females, but it's likely a result of his age more than anything. He can be a gentleman if he wants to be, though.

History:
Elias Kuefer was destined to live an unfortunate life, being born to both a man from Central and an Ishvalan woman. He was born with traits of both ethnic groups as a result, which lead to a number of social problems that only intensified with the beginning of the Ishvalan war. As Elias' father was a man of Amestris' military, he faced the loss of his career in the scenario where he remained with his wife and son, and as a result went along with a military order to have them sent back to the Ishvalan homeland shortly after the war began in exchange for their protection. The boy's mother saw this as a betrayal regardless of being aware that it was for their own safety.

The two were indeed kept safe, by a State Alchemist named Kurtz Rosen who guarded them at one of the few safe havens set out in the Holy Land for Ishvalans that the State would still have some use for after the war. From Kurtz, Elias learned the basics of alchemy, as well as combat since there was little to do in the large, fort-like structure in the middle of the desert. Eventually the war took a turn for the worst, and even those Ishvalens being protected began to attack the alchemists protecting them as a horrible truth began to surface. Ishvalens were being kidnapped and taken to labs in the facilities, where they were being used as lab animals in various cases of human transmutation.

Elias refused to believe the rumors, the bond he had forged with Kurtz confusing his judgement. Even when his mother was taken away, kicking and screaming, he still thought the State Alchemists were all good people. That was until several days later. Kurtz approached the boy, apparently feeling guilty about something. He took him to a room deep underground, and lead him in. The room held a strange odor... decay? He was suddenly grabbed by a number of people and bound to a table regardless of his struggling. They held a syringe before him, filled with a ruby liquid. He wasn't sure why, but he sensed something evil in that fluid. Looking around for a manner of escape, his golden eyes eventually fell upon an unlit corner of the room. A disfigured hand hung out of the darkness - a hand large and animalistic in appearance, but... it wore the wedding ring Elias' father had given his mother.

What happened from that moment on remained a mystery to Elias for a number of years. His memory stopped there, and he awoke with an Ishvalen caravan that had apparently taken him in, his right arm having somehow been severed. He learned a few years later that Kurtz had made an attempt to save the boy, and had managed to eject him from the fort before losing his life, although Elias had lost his arm in the process. When he recovered and set out for Central, he learned the fate of his father as well: killed by Ishvalans. Two parents of two different ethnic groups, killed by two different ethnic groups. Elias carried hate for both of his people through most of his youth.

When the war ended, Elias was accepted into the State Alchemists with the title of "The Ravaged Alchemist", a clever shot at his lack of an arm. He refused to accept automail on the grounds that he hates Amestrian technology for what it had done to his mother. His reasons for becoming a dog of the military were selfish enough. He was looking for the one ultimately responsible for the Ishvalan War, and the deaths of his parents. By infiltrating the military, he figured he could learn the truth. Over time, due to meetings with other alchemists and people, his hate for both peoples became quelled substantially, but he did not abandon his quest for revenge. From being in the military, he realized that all involved had no choice but to follow orders. The question was simple: who gave the orders during the war? The Fuhrer was the simplest answer, but the boy, now a young man, had no proof of this.

Weapons: Elias' weapons system is complicated, if only for his lack of two arms. If he reaches his hand into his shirt, he can draw out a number of small metal plates that are attached to a chain, and this metal is utilized in his alchemy to create on the fly weapons and tools. He can store up to five at a time, and his clothes allow for them to be stored without ultimately being in his way. He also carries a clip of smoke bombs for easy escape, although he has been known to transmute them as well.
Alchemy: With only one arm, it is rather difficult for Elias to perform much alchemy, let alone on the run or during battle. The solution to his problem was simple, but required a great deal of sacrifice, as he had two transmutation circles carved into one hand. One spans the distance of his fingers when connected, while the other is on his palm, hidden by black cloth. He utilizes metal plates stored in his clothes to create weapons by attaching the chain to his wrist and swinging them into the transmutation circle on his finger, transforming them into blades and shields depending on their size. If he uses the larger circle on his palm, he can transmute larger objects, but he's required to draw a circle in the case he needs to do anything substantial.

Hey, what about me!? I'll repost my SU. (New profile change also...)

He knelt down and picked her chin up, allowing her to see his empty eyes, his voice was soft and gentle, as usual.

"What has you crying, young child?"

The girl sniffled, tears dripping from her cheeks, and pointed up at a small green dot in the sky. "M-my b-b-balloon f-flew away f-from m-m-me..."

He smiled down at her as he stood up and sensed it's location.

"Don't worry, young girl, I shall retrieve it..."

"R-really!?" She wiped her tears and looked confused up at Tenshi. "H-how?? Y-you're blind, and you'd have to grow wings and--"

@Silver: It wasn't that I ignored your signup. I did include an "everybody else" portion in my last post. Your signup is fairly lacking in detail, so...

Name: Elsie Hirsch
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Profession: Waitress / Hair Dresser

Appearance:
The first thing most people tend to notice about Elsie are her brilliant blue eyes. Large and radiant, they are always focused on the bigger picture, taking in everything. Although... sometimes they are more focused on any cute guys in the area. Her hair is naturally blond, but she has altered her hair colour using alchemy to what she considers a pretty pink. The girl's frame is slender, but her muscles are toned enough that she is able to hold her own in physical combat provided she has a weapon. That said, she isn't exactly that strong, so she advises herself personally to pick her fights.

Liking to dress cute, but aware of practicality, the girl is garbed in a simple, armless hoodie of a sky blue shade that shows her soft, feminine arms. A white zipper runs up the front, and if she were to remove the hoodie, you'd find a white undershirt. She wears a pair of white, tight, short cut shorts that reveal most of her legs. Her feet are covered by a pair of white running shoes, with black socks climbing her leg underneath. She carries a light, white backpack for basic supplies and a change of clothes, and she wears a silver ring on her right index finger that she received from her parents.

Personality:
Raised on old-fashioned values, the girl was raised to be kind, if not a little headstrong. All throughout her childhood it was drilled into her head that family and friends were to be treasured and respected, and that she would have to find her own strength as a woman in order to protect the things she held dear. To this day, she isn't really sure what her strength is, but she firmly believes that she will one day find such a thing. Understanding the value of work, she doesn't like people who laze around all day. As you can imagine, she's the 'early to bed, early to rise' type of girl who likes to be bossy if she doesn't think things are moving efficiently. She isn't rude about it though, provided you at least pay attention to what she's saying.

While Elsie doesn't believe fighting will ever solve anything, she also recognizes that it is sometimes necessary, and as a result dabbles in fighting with both alchemy and her body. Easily depressed, it doesn't take much to ruin her happy-go-lucky demeanor, particularly if you talk to her about the darker things. Thankfully, it takes very little to get her back on her feet after something bad happens, though she does have a tendency to fake feeling okay to stop others from worrying about her. She is surprisingly not straight forward with her feelings as a result of this, since she seems to care too much about what kind of reputation she possesses in contrast to who she actually is - an unfortunate side-effect of growing up where very few people lived.

Her career choice also weighs on her personality a little. She is often seen absent-mindedly watching the hair of others, judging... waiting... She is often irked by the more scandalous hairstyles. Though most would wonder if she considered her own hair scandalous, seeing as she used alchemy to make it pink. She obviously has her feminine side: she likes boys as well as fashion, and she tries her best to look cute when she can.

History:
Born in Risembool, Elsie Hirsch was born to a pair of farmers that utilized old fashioned values more than anything else in the world. The girl was brought up with the ideals that family always came first, and that the woman's place was to support the men in her life. As she grew older, however, and more and more travelers came to her village with the Ishvalan War raging on in the background, she began to gather a fascination in the outside world. Many women visited the village as well, engaging in careers such as becoming officers and alchemists of the military. She recognized that the life of an alchemist was not within the realm of possibility for her upbringing, but as time passed she began to study up on the art in secret. Elsie did not want to engage in the path her parents had set out for her. She wasn't going to marry a farmer and continue looking after the farm when her mom and dad got old. She wanted to explore, and when she turned fifteen she was given an opportunity to leave.

Living in the country, there was very little for her to do in her free time. She had friends, of course, but they were mostly males, and for the most part they liked to rough house. Up until she left, she was taught the art of hand-to-hand combat just from engaging in fights with those boys (though she knew some of them had crushes on her, so they likely went easy on her). She also was a practicing hairdresser, as her mother worked at the local barber, and felt it was a useful skill for her daughter as well. After applying in secret, Elsie eventually received an invitation to participate in a hair dressing school in Central. Hesitantly, and under the condition the girl returned when she passed, Elsie was allowed to move to the city.

She quickly grew fond of the city, and decided to work there after her schooling was done, despite the promise she had made to her parents. It didn't take her long to find a temporary hairdressing job in the city of Central, but to pay rent she required more income, so she also took a job waitressing at a tavern called "The Angel's Light". While she was away in the city, the Xylica disease began to infiltrate Amestris, and some of the people in Risembool began to fall ill with the disease shortly after the first case was identified in Central. She learned by letter that both of her parents had fallen ill, and the girl fell into a pit of depression, feeling responsible for leaving them there alone. It wasn't long after that she heard rumors of the military sending out a squad to search for a potential cure. She wasn't military, but perhaps...

My apologies, I'll spice it up now How's this?

Name: Tenshi Fallen
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Profession: Helping Others (No real profession) Traveller

Appearance: Silver is one of the few remaining with Ishvalan blood, but he is hybrid. His mother was not Ishvalan. The result was bright white hair and purple eyes (A mix of Ishvalan red and normal blue). Speaking of which, he has no pupils, as he is clearly blind. But his senses are extra-ordinary, and it's almost as if he could see just fine. He can see by hearing, smelling, feeling, and sensing. In other words, he listens and locates things based on the noise's origin. He has superior smell (he is somewhat of a wolf; his smelling ability is superb) and can locate with it, as well as distinct who or what it is by smell. He can feel even the faintest vibrations or winds, and use that to know what's happening. He has a sixth and seventh sense, which help as well. He had his white hair short and spiked forward. His left ear was pierced with a cross earring, dangling from a chain; The cross is made of onyx and hangs from a small silver chain. He has no general wardrobe, except that he always wears shorts (that go a bit past his knees, baggy but not saggy, meaning they don't sag like most teenagers of the modern era >.> They are not loose, but are open and free to move with. I honestly can't explain it, they are loose somewhat, but do not revel anything bad >~<) and either a T-shirt or a sleeveless shirt (usually patterned with wings, or anything else, but honestly he can tell by feeling the shirt XD). Usually black shorts and white or light blue shirts, occasionally he wears his white hoodie. He has a horizontal slashing scar across his face. (NOT COPYING SCAR the character, if you've been in an RP with me, the scar is always there, it goes from one cheek to the other, across the bridge of his nose.) He wears sandals, not shoes. His face shows his personality often, and his eyes reflect his emotions. He is decently tall, standing around 5'11" or 6'0".

Personality: He is young, childish on occasion, but openly kind to people, and will help however he can, if they are kind people. He is quiet, but likes to see happy people, and he hopes to find some friends around his age. Most of his adventure is searching for friends, as he grew up being a loner, lonely and without friends. He also wants to help find a way to cure the growing pandemic that has people 'crystalizing'. He has a bit of a temper on occasion, and really doesn't like when people mock his blindness. Seriously, try not to mention 'sight' or 'ooh look at that' or 'hey, that's my favorite color' around him. People often underestimate him for his blindness, and that's their first mistake, as well as their last. (Yes, making fun of Tenshi's blindness is like calling Ed 'Short' XD)

Weapons: Usually dual-blades (Meaning a knife in each hand, that is his style, extremely quick and skillful.) He loves knives, and can throw knives as well, with unbelievable accuracy, hitting a kiwi fruit off of someone's head from a mile away.

Alchemy: Without Transmutation circles. His alchemy consists of fire (Yes, it fails to work in the rain XD, just like Roy Mustang), and his fire is blue, and creation and deconstruction of pretty much anything. His favorite stone is Amethyst, a wonderful purple stone that matches his eyes, and he is able to make precious gems with his alchemy (Except Gold, because that's banned XD) and he does not use this for money. He uses creation and destruction regularly, making his own place to stand or sit when one is unavailable.

RP Sample:

Tenshi felt a pang of sadness as a little girl stood crying on the corner.

He sighed and felt and sensed the area around him.

No benches, wonderful...

He sighed and created his own bench, out of jade jewel. He reclined into it, smiling, proud of his good deeds. He left his wings out for now, not really interested in people's opinions about him. The rain began, and he growled a bit.

Dammit... I hate the rain...

His wings went over his head to cover himself as he began going door to door for a shelter for the storm.
