There's Electvire. Really good attack stats. But you may need a pal who have the evo item attached to their and trade it

Electvire is really good, and better (from what I remember). Hard to get though.

Electivire is definitely a powerhouse of a Pokemon, Magnezone while still pretty hand in battle (personally I dislike it and I wouldn't use), Electivire would be your number one choice. Although Luxray is pretty cool and formidable as well, even if its move-pool is a bit restricted. Just curious, any reason for asking this question? Planning to put together a powerhouse team? 8)

magnezone is the best electric-type in sinnoh. period. it has magnet pull, good defenses, 130 SpA.

Well, seeing how the entire Magnemite/Ton/Zone line has the most resistances out of any other Pokemon, and seeing how it has a great Special Attack stat and movepool, I'd say that Magnezone's the best non-legendary Electric type, period. Though, in Platinum, it has served me much better than my Luxray did once I got rid of my Luxray.

Magnezone is superior to Electivire, in my opinion. The best electric moves in the game fall under the special category. Magnezone can dish out more damage than Electivire, and has far better defenses/resistances.

Neither pokemon can really cite speed as a key strength, though Electivire is more likely to have priority with its moves. Most electric types rely somewhat on inflicting opponents with paralysis, so speed isn't usually a concern.

Magnezone's 4x weakness to ground types is concerning, however.

The only real issue with Magnezone is its 4x Ground Weakness. Without air balloon existing in platinum, it's a pretty substantial challenge in using a Magnezone (also its weaknesses to fire and fighting). If you get one with Sturdy though, that can help a lot since its speed is pretty trash. Other than Magnezone, any of the Rotom formes are very strong, especially Rotom-Wash and Rotom-Fan thanks to their unique typings, good stats and move pools.

Then don't use Magnezone against ground-types... and even then there's always Hidden Power Ice.

The Rotom forms are soooo hard to get.

You don't need to be a ground type to know a ground move. And I was assuming this was for a competitive team. The rotom forms aren't super hard to get, they just take time through the playthrough to get them. If it's just for a normal playthrough then yeah Magnezone makes more sense, but at the same time any electric type is fine cuz ingame it's mostly levels that matter.
