"Cottonee in Love" Review Thread

This episode reminds me of Bye Bye Butterfree

This episode was pretty standard fare for the "Events: None of Consequence" episodes, so not much to complain about there. It was kind of a combination of "Bye Bye Butterfree" and "The Problem with Paras."

I do have a small problem with the state of Team Rocket, though. It seems with fans of Team Rocket, people generally fall into two camps: Those who love the black costume wearing serious Team Rocket, and those who love the campy, pun dropping Team Rocket. This episode didn't really give us either of those. There was no ultimate master plan to stealing the Cottonee, and there was no fantasy of Giovanni's possible need for them either. Even when they captured the pokemon, they didn't use a giant, illogical mecha, nor did their capture event directly relate to the positive outcome of the story. When they captured the Butterfree in the previously mentioned episode, Ash's Butterfree fought them back and became the hero that the shiney Butterfree finally noticed. Now, the Cottonee freed themselves with no consequences whatsoever. If Team Rocket isn't playing a significant role in the episode, they don't need to be there. It's not like they haven't missed episodes already this season.

So that part kind of missed the mark for me. It was a watchable episode, but not one I'll remember.

This episode bored me. \: The only interesting parts for me IMO; Were the small battles between Cottonee/Cottonee Cottonee/Scraggy. That was about it. The Team Rocket scenes seemed kinda pointless as well, it was like they needed some other sub-plot in the episode. I found the Iris and Cilan moments tiresome. (Iris always having her mouth full, Cilan being annoying etc)
