Introduction

Welcome to Jeimas, a large and influential country famous for the skill and power of the sorcerers it produces. The north of Jeimas, where the capital of Orhurst is located, is a land of plenty where the government’s influence keeps everyone happy, healthy and safe. The climate here ranges mostly from cool to warm (bar the mountains of the far north) and the land always gets the right amount of rain, never too much and never too little. The north of Jeimas is like heaven on Earth.

That’s the north, the further south you go in Jeimas the worse that things get. Especially once you reach the Barren Lands and the Great Chasm. The Barren Lands are an enormous desert that fills the entirety of lowest reaches of Jeimas until you reach the sea – well they assume that’s how it works, nobody has ever made if far enough through the Barren Lands to find out. In the Barren Lands the ground is almost entirely covered in coarse, orange sand and there are few rivers or lakes. During the day those who live there experience scorching heat, during the night they experience bone-chilling cold. Food is scarce in the Barren Lands, communities rely upon cattle ranches for their supplies of meat and milk and many poor families frequently are forced to go without meat if they can’t catch or keep their own – which is not always an easy feet. Perhaps the worst aspect of living in the South however is the crime. The reach of the government is weak in the Barren Lands, which has allowed numerous outlaws to emerge and thrive without the law to oppose them. Overstretched, outmatched and outnumbered law enforcement in the Barren Lands are often forced to rely upon bounty hunters to handle criminals, and even then there’s always another outlaw to take a captured ones place… assuming they don’t get there first and take control of the territory themselves in the first place.

The worst cases of this affliction can be found in the Great Chasm, an enormous crater within the Barren Lands filled with small communities. The Great Chasm is extremely isolated from the outside world, but is also dependent upon trade with the outside to survive. This is why work is being done in an attempt to expand the small railway line inside the Chasm to link it with the major north-south line. Until then though, horses and carts are used to transport goods to cities outside the Chasm, which is very slow and inefficient and a large part of why those within the Chasm are poverty stricken. If the north of Jeimas is heaven on Earth, the south is hell.

You

You are either a rookie bounty hunter, working out of Janet’s Bounty Hunting Agency in Spider’s Hollow, or a fledgling outlaw. You are also however, a sorcerer. For as I said earlier, Jeimas is a country of magic and even in the Barren Lands spellcasters can be found using their abilities to commit crimes or to capture those who do. Many bounty hunters and outlaws alike have some degree of magical ability.

Bounty Hunters – As a bounty hunter, you will begin your story working under a crotchety, old ex-bounty hunter named Janet. She was once a formidable force in the Barren Lands until she was injured attempting to capture one of the “Big Bads”. As a bounty hunter it is your job to make money by catching criminals and collecting their bounties. The more experience you get as a bounty hunter, the more powerful you will become and your rank as a sorcerer will grow to match. The ultimate goal of a bounty hunter is to not only break off from their agency and to free-lance successfully (so they can keep the entirety of the money they earn) but to eventually build up enough finances and reputation to open an agency of their own. One should not be fooled into thinking that bounty hunters are all allies though, it’s a hard life and competing bounty hunters will often go to extreme lengths to capture their mark, even at the expense of their fellows.

Outlaws – As an outlaw you will begin either working under a more notorious criminal, or committing small robberies and raids of your own. As an outlaw your goal is to steal and extort to make money and to take out anyone who stands in your way. The more your own bounty increases and the more powerful and notorious you get, the higher your rank as a sorcerer will grow and the closer you’ll get to the end goal. The end goal of most outlaws is to become notorious and powerful enough to be categorised as one of the near-legendary “Big Bads” who dwell within the Barren Lands – the ten worst criminals alive who even most bounty hunters try to avoid. The life of an outlaw is not an easy one either, you will not only have to successfully steal, extort and kill to earn your money – escaping the clutches of the law and bounty hunters both in the process – but you will also often be forced into turf disputes and conflicts with other criminals seeking the same things you are.

Gameplay

Gunpowder is predominantly a sandbox roleplay in which you may go about fulfilling the roles of your character in any ways you see fit, thus resulting in the development of plots. Events I throw in along the way, such as the eventual appearances of some of the “Big Bads”, will also serve to develop plots within the roleplay. The roleplay does have an ending planned, but that’s for me to reveal later.

In this roleplay there a certain mechanics to consider, mostly surrounding magic. There are three categories of spells, these are

  • Black Magic – Offensive spells, or spells that negatively affect a target
  • White Magic – Defensive spells, or spells that positively affect a target
  • Grey Magic – Spells that are neither offensive nor defensive by nature but that could be used for either purpose depending on the thinking of the user.

In addition to these three categories, most spells are of an elemental nature being affiliated with fire, water, earth, wind or electricity. At first sorcerers only have access to one element, however as they become more powerful they gain access to more elements. It should also be noted however, that some spells are non-elemental and can be used regardless of a sorcerer’s affinities.
All sorcerers possess the innate ability to use magic, but in order to actually use this ability they require a spellbook, something not easy to come by. The further away a spellbook is from its owner, the harder it is to use magic and should a spellbook be destroyed the owner will not be able to use their spells unless they can somehow claim a new one. For this reason criminals who are captured always have their books burned and often do the same to their enemies.

As characters either capture more criminals or commit more crimes, their rank as a sorcerer will gradually increase to match their reputation, their power growing along with their rank. A character’s rank, determines the kinds of spells they are able to use, expanding the number of spells they can use and the power of their magic. The ranks are as follows

  • Rank One - Initiate: Weak spells, one element, two custom – Five spells
  • Rank Two – Noviciate: Moderate spells, one element, three custom – Eight spells
  • Rank Three – Moderate: Moderate spells, two elements, five custom – Twelve spells
  • Rank Four – Accomplished: Moderate spells, three elements, six custom – Fifteen spells
  • Rank Five – Veteran: High Spells, three elements, eight custom – Twenty spells
  • Ranks Six – Superior: High Spells, four elements, ten custom – Twenty-two spells
  • Rank Seven – Master: High spells, any elements, thirteen custom – Twenty-seven spells

As can be seen in the points above, at first you will be able to only use weak spells of one element. Three of these will be generic “stock spells” listed below, whilst two will be custom spells of your own creation. In addition to magic, your character will also be able to use weaponry similar to that of the weaponry available in the Old West (ie. Revolvers, knives, shotguns and hunting rifles, and nothing automatic). In Jeimas, electricity has been discovered, however in the South fires and gas lamps are generally still the majority, flames are used for cooking and most travel is done on foot or on horseback as the steam engine trains are used only for transporting goods or on occasion miners who are returning home from the site.

Stock Spells

Black Magic

  • Elemental Burst – Fire: A fireball is launched at the target.
  • Elemental Burst – Water: A pressurised globe of water is thrown at the target. It explodes with a violent spray on impact.
  • Elemental Burst – Air: A concussive blast of air.
  • Elemental Burst – Earth: A large rock is formed or levitated and launched at the target.
  • Elemental Burst – Electricity: An electric shockwave is sent at the target. It has the capability to stun those it hits.
  • Minor Jinx: Causes sudden, but rapidly disappearing, bad luck.
  • Hex of Pain: If this spell hits it causes pain throughout the targets body.

White Magic
  • Elemental Shield – Fire: Causes a ring or dome of flames to form around one’s vicinity. This is effective at stopping physical or most average magical attacks but can’t stop bullets.
  • Elemental Shield – Water: Forms a bubble around the user. This is great for deflecting most physical or magical attacks but will pop if cut or hit with bullets.
  • Elemental Shield – Earth: A stone structure – generally a wall – is produced. Excellent for blocking physical attacks or weapon attacks but ineffective against many magical attacks.
  • Elemental Shield – Air: A short acting blast of air in all directions that nullifies any average attack for an extremely short period of time.
  • Elemental Shield – Electricity: A matrix of electrical charges are formed around the user. This deflects all physical attacks and some magical attacks but leaves the user vulnerable to bullets and most magical attacks.
  • Minor Healing: Heals small wounds with ease and with time and patience moderate wounds relatively well. More serious wounds are beyond this spell’s capability.
  • Minor Nullification: Nullify weak jinxes or hexes and slightly weakens more powerful ones.

Grey Magic
  • Blink: Teleport to a nearby location instantly so long as it is visible and not magically protected.
  • Minor Repulsion: Repel objects (inanimate or living) in the immediate vicinity. Potential for offensive or defensive use but ineffective on spells.
  • Summon Weak Familiar: Summons a familiar, typically a spirit animal of small to moderate size and practically never a mythological creature bar the most minor of imps. With practice specific familiars may be called.
  • Summon Small Object: Summon a small inanimate object. Along with the next, this spell is pretty much the reason criminals now have their spellbooks burned. It is far easier to summon an object you are familiar with.
  • Short-Distance Portal: A portal that allows you to move from one side of a wall or locked door to the other. Criminals must always have their spellbooks burned.

Locations

Spider’s Hollow
Spider’s Hollow is a small but rather central town located in the Great Chasm. It is notable only for it’s popular tavern and for the bounty-hunting agency located there. Most of the breadwinners from Spider’s Hollow earn their income trading with the many travellers who pass through or by working in other nearby towns such as the nearby mining town Gilded Brook.

Gilded Brook
A town slightly larger than the nearby Spider’s Hollow that is populated primarily by miners and their families. The town got its name when prospectors discovered gold by panning the nearby river, something that lead to the discovery of rich gold deposits nearby. Gilded Brook is frequently targeted by bandits raiding the stores of gold.

The Great Chasm
The Great Chasm is an enormous crater located deep into the Barren Lands. Nobody is sure exactly how such a large crater came to be but since its discovery several small settlements have sprung into life within the Chasm due to it’s rich mineral deposits and easily defensible location. Most towns inside the Chasm are only hours away by horseback.

The Barren Lands
The Barren Lands are a large desert region located in the south of the continent of Jeimas. Towns in the Barren Lands are primarily known for mining and livestock as well as for having higher crime rates and harsher climates than locations in the north.

Ironhaven
Ironhaven is one of very few large cities in The Barren Lands and is located several days travel away from the entrance to The Great Chasm – Sinking Road. Merchants and traders from the nearby small towns flock to this city to sell their goods and it is one of the few places with a decent government presence. Ironhaven is well known for being the best place to learn sorcery in the south of Jeimas and is characterised by its enormous stone walls.

Larkin
The largest town in the Great Chasm, Larkin is located right near the edge of the Chasm close to the entrance. Residents from Larkin earn their income as farmers on the outskirts of the town, as workers maintaining Sinking Road, as tradesman, working on excavating a railroad tunnel or as miners at the nearby town of Wrench.

Wrench
Wrench was the smallest town in the Chasm and, like Gilded Brook, was a mining town. The entire community of this town was dedicated to mining the various ores and minerals found underground and within the sides of the Great Chasm.

After the events surrounding Cosma and Veralice, the town of Wrench was destroyed. All that remains of the town now are a few barely standing, deserted, buildings and piles of wood, metal and other debris that used to be the rest of the town. Some have begun trying to rebuild but progress is slow and costly without support from the Northern companies that run most of the mines.

Silverston
Silverston is a mining community located not far from The Great Chasm. It is a town far larger than most in the Chasm, bar maybe Larkin, and is tough competition for the mining towns there as it is responsible for not only the largest silver mine in the world, but also for smaller platinum and iron ore mines.

Fairbell
Fairbell is a town not much larger than Wrench. It is located only a few hours from Spider’s Hollow and is notable only for its small but beautiful church. There are no religious buildings in Spiders Hollow or Gilded Brook, so religious individuals from those towns often visit here.

Orhurst
Situated far to the north of the Great Chasm, well outside of the Barren Lands, is the city of Orhurst – the capital of Jeimas. This city is enormous with many well-maintained cobble streets and is the home of many government buildings, businesses and houses – although only the richest live in the large inner city houses. Most residents live on the outskirts of the city with farms and plantations being the furthest out properties. Orhurst is home to the greatest educational facilities in the world including Skyrith Academy, a school and university dedicated to not only educating people, but also producing great sorcerers.

It's here! I've been looking forward to this! Here's my SU:

Name: Dustin Rhodes
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Status: Bounty Hunter

Personality: Dustin is a jolly and upbeat guy, with a sharp wit and love of conversation. He is very patient and slow to anger, but a little stubborn and reluctant to change. He can be lazy, trying to dodge physical labor, and is always on the lookout for his next meal. He enjoys challenges, relishing an opportunity to prove his superiority, but he is always a good sport, win or lose. He doesn't hold grudges, but he doesn't forget his losses, either.

Appearance: At 6 feet tall and just under 230, Dustin is a big guy. His arms and hands are big and strong, but he carries around a bit of extra weight in the middle. His skin is darkly tanned, while his eyes are a soft grey, and his red hair is short and unruly, though it is receding in front. His large eyes, flat nose, and thick mustache give his face a friendly, if walrus-like look. He always dresses in style, though her wears drab colors. He wears an orange shirt with matte grey buttons, with dark brown pants and matching boots. He wears a brown canvas duster to protect against the elements, and a stylish black bowler hat. He keeps a pair of protective goggles perched on the brim of his hat, in case of bad weather.

Element: Earth

Weaponry: .45 lever action hunting rifle, .40 single shot derringer, boot knife

3 Stock Spells:
Earth Burst
Earth Shield
Blink

2 Custom Spells (and a description of each):
Trap Hole - Causes the earth to open up, spontaneously creating a hole in the ground.

Dust Bowl - Conjures a swirling cloud of dust and sand to obscure vision, cover tracks, or simply coat an area in dust.

Roleplay Sample: From "Curse of Hogwarts"

Spoiler:
Aya stood by the window in the common room, looking out at the Herbology garden. It was a hot summer night (well, as hot as Scotland gets in September), but she still felt cold. More accurately, a chill went down her spine and settled in the pit of her stomach. She takes a deep breath through her nostrils, smelling the scented candles as she silently counts to five. She slowly exhales through her mouth, an old trick her dad told her would calm her nerves. She thinks about the riddle the door had posed, and how quickly one of the older boys had solved it. What is so fragile, that even saying its name can break it?

She sighs, starting to get frustrated. Her dad's breathing exercise hadn't helped, thinking about puzzles didn't help, but there was another trick that calmed her down. She pulls out her wand from a hidden pocket in her sleeve, smiling in anticipation. She truly loved having a wand, and being able to cast spells. It was just so much fun. She slowly waves it in a circle, muttering a little chant under her breath. "In blackest night or brightest day, I command the light to come and play! Lumos!"

Rather than conjuring an orb of light, she experiences a tickle in her head, making her sneeze loudly. A pitch black ball springs from her wand, startling her even more. Her focus lost, the orb vanishes, replaced by a thin layer of ectoplasm, which falls to the floor with a soft *splat*. Aya covers her mouth with a hand, her face heating up as a few students look her way in disgust. The ectoplasm begins evaporating almost instantly, leaving behind no trace of her botched spell.

Aya is shaken by the experience, recalling the boy's talk of a curse. This would be one hell of a curse, all right. Ignoring the looks she is given, she pushes past other students, heading for the door. "I need some air!" What she really needs is the professor, but she hasn't come in yet. Slightly panicked, Aya decides to go look for her, regardless of the rules.

With no one trying to stop her (the prefects must be busy dealing with other students), Aya leaves the common room with no problems. As soon as she is outside the room, the cool night air reaches her, pushing aside her momentary panic. "Maybe I just overreacted. I mean, I sneezed, the spell got messed up. Sure, I've done that spell hundreds of times, and it's never gone wrong before, but there's a first time for everything, right?!" She finds herself talking to a suit of armor, which has nothing to say about the issue.

She frowns, pulling out her wand again. She takes a breath, confident her spell will work this time. "Lumos!" She sneezes, her wand projecting a stream of shadows. Her breath escapes in a squeak of fear, the spell cutting out suddenly. She doesn't even notice the door opening as another student follows her out.

"New plan! New spell, that'll work! Accio!" She points at the helmet of the armor, but the spell again backfires. She feels dizzy, clutching her head as the helmet goes flying, slamming into the wall and bouncing off, loudly bouncing down the stairs.

Aya cringes at the loud noise, waiting until the helmet stops bouncing before making a move. She leans against the stairwell's railing, putting her wand back in her sleeve pocket almost absentmindedly. "Okay, so I'm cursed. That guy was telling the truth. There's a damn curse on us all."

She glances at the suit of armor, thinking that somebody's going to notice the missing helmet. "Sorry about your head." The armor gives her a rather rude hand gesture, and she looks down the stairs again. "I guess I should go get that..."

Name: Claire Winchester

Age: 22

Gender: Female

Status: Outlaw

Appearance: Standing at a height of about 5'8" and with somewhat curvy figure, Claire is a young woman who could be definitely considered easy on the eyes. She sports a lightly tanned skin complexion, with flowing, somewhat messy, light blonde that easily reaches down to her lower back. This is offset by a pair of pale, chocolate-brown eyes. A tattoo of a snake is wrapped around her upper left arm.

In terms of clothing, Claire dresses in a manner that could never be called modest. She is usually seen sporting a pair of cut-off, denim shorts held around her waist by a brown, leather belt. She wears various pouches on this belt, which usually keeps hold of her extra bullets, along with a holster for her trusty magnum. A pair of brown, leather boots with white, furry trim adorns her feet and she sports a brown officer-styled cap on her head. Claire's hands are clad in a pair of long, fingerless gloves. The fabric of the gloves vary in color. The part which cover the woman's hands are brown with white padding along the back and around her wrists. The fabric which extends from the hands and up her forearms are a dark, navy blue. Claire offsets these gloves with a pair of gold bangles worn on her upper arms. Claire wears a white, bikini-styled top which shows off her ample cleavege and long, lean torso. A white, leather choker is worn around her neck. Claire will occasionally wear a long, black duster for weather-related reasoning.

Personality: Shifty. Deceitful. Sensual. These are all terms that are generally used to describe Claire Winchester. In this world, Claire is more than willing to use her mind and body to succeed. She speaks in a rather flirtatious manner and often comes up with pet names for those she happens to deal with on a regular basis. It should be noted that it does not matter whether or not the person in question is a man or woman, as she takes equal pleasure in "both sides". When not committing crimes, Claire can often be found in taverns enjoying a good drink and a less-than-honest game of poker. If she has one flaw more than anything, it's her terrible gambling addiction. The blonde outlaw has the ability to make anything a wager, from how fast she can rob a bank to how many shots of whiskey she can down before getting completely gassed. Rumor has it that she also has a fondness for very cute things, but she would never willing admit this.

Element: Electricity

Weaponry: .44 Magnum and Chain Whip

Stock Spells:

  • Electric Burst
  • Minor Jinx
  • Electric Shield
Custom Spells:
  • Thunder Leash - Focusing her magical energy into her chain whip, Claire is able to electrify the chain and use it to more or less tase whoever she strikes with it.
  • Submissive Kiss - Claire blows a kiss in the direction of her opponent, causing them to falter in their original course of action. This is usually done to more or less aid her in escaping the law or from a successfully commited crime, often causing the target to stand to the side as she walks by. The stronger the will however, the easier this "curse" can be broken.

Roleplay Sample: Taken from Crossroads

Melody Hughes

Azalea Town - Melody's Detective Work Begins!

Badges:

Current Team:
- Blossom

– Napoleon

– Hawk

– Franky

"Oh my, it seems like you've had a bit of a rough journey getting to Azalea Town. It almost seems like the sort of story you read about in a book, Melody. Are you sure you aren't exaggerating just a bit...?"

"Every single word of it, Emily! Team Rocket, the Smeargles, that... cave creature... all of it!"

Melody awoke a little bit later in the morning than she had actually planned. Somehow, the girl had managed to sleep into half past nine that morning, a time much later than she had done since leaving Cherrygrove at the very start of her journey. After rushing through her morning routine as quickly as she possibly could, Melody spent her time in the lounge of the Pokémon Center waiting for Sarah. She was currently spending her waiting time talking to her sister, Emily, on her Pokégear. As she made some small talk and caught her older twin up on some of the adventures she had been on so far, Franky, Blossom, and Hawk were all three currently having a small breakfast for themselves.

"Well then if you swear it is, I'll just have to take your word on it then. Although..."

"Although what?" Melody inquired.

"Why don't you tell me a bit more about that Vincent boy? You seemed to mention him an awful lot... if you catch my drift..."

Melody could feel the heat rushing to her cheeks. She knew fully well just what her sister was hinting at, which sent memories of the previous day's teasing brought on by both Sarah and Vincent to her mind. Eventually, Melody managed to find the words she needed to continue the conversation properly.

"It's only because we traveled together the most, Emily! I don't even know if he's still here or where he is now!" Melody insisted. "Besides, he's just a friend. It's not like I set out on this journey to score myself a hot date or something like that!" No sooner had those words left Melody's mouth did the girl already start mentally berating herself. She could tell that her sister was about to lay into her again, so before Emily could do that Melody decided it was long past time to bring the conversation to a close.

"Look, Emily... As much as I love your teasing me, I think I need to get going. I have a lot to do today, after all," Melody said.

"Yeah, I guess so... Listen Mel, I want you to promise me you'll take care of yourself, okay? Oh, and give us some more calls along the way! Mom and I both wanna hear all about what sort of things you see out there!"

"Yeah, you bet! See ya around, sis," Melody replied, before hanging up the phone on her side. The girl had to admit, it was good talking to her sister again... even if it was Melody herself that did most of the talking. The girl glanced down from her chair, noticing all three of her Pokémon were staring right back up at her with patient, waiting looks on their faces. "I guess Sarah decided to go about it on her own then... Well, no matter. I'm sure we can do just fine without her, right guys?"

Franky, Hawk, and Blossom all three agreed with Melody in their own, unique way. Giving each one of her teammates a warm smile, the trainer recalled Hawk and Franky into their Pokéballs and then gave Blossom an affectionate pat on the head. She took care of the dirty dishes from her Pokémon's meals and sooner or later she and Blossom took their exit from the Pokémon Center.

There was a gentle breeze blowing through the late morning air of Azalea Town. Many of the townspeople seemed to be going about their normal lives. Yet, despite this Melody noticed that they seemed a bit... troubled to some degree as well. Some of the townspeople kept throwing glances over their shoulders, as if they were scared of someone or something sneaking up on them. Others seemed to be keeping a close watch on each other, almost as if they did not trust each other or something of the sort. It sort of weirded Melody out to a degree, and made the short girl wonder just how she was supposed to approach this whole "Searching for Team Rocket" plan. Melody was not as worried about it back when she was going to have someone helping her in vigilante investigations... but now that she was working alone... well, it was safe to say that Melody herself was feeling a bit intimidated by it all.

"I guess the first thing to do is to just find out where the gym is. We should probably stay with the original plan and talk to the gym leader about the whole thing first," Melody determined. "Come on, Blossom. Let's go ask for directions."

Leading her Bayleef away from the Pokémon Center, Melody approached a nearby old man who was sitting on a park bench. His face was buried deep in a newspaper, occasionally muttering to himself as he would turn a page. Melody gave a somewhat nervous glrance to her Bayleef, who only offered the trainer the same, bright smile she normally had for the girl. Taking a deep breath, Melody cleared her throat which caused the old man to jump in surprise from the sudden sound.

"W-What is it? What is it with you whippersnappers?!" the grouchy old man began, sending a rather fierce glare in Melody's direction. "Why can't you lot ever just pipe down and use your manners?! Why, I would've gotten my hide tanned faster than a rabid Mankey with eight arms if I made as much noise as you!"

Melody was a bit taken back by the sudden energy and volume of the old man as he spoke. He looked quite frail from first appearances, as if he was one of those kind and dotting old grandfathers. Of course, once she got to see him and listen to him, the trainer learned the old man was quite the opposite. He even went as far as to do some spraying as he shouted, much to Melody and Blossom's horror.

"As me...? You're the one throwing a tantrum right now..." Melody thought with a sigh. The girl decided to try and not let the grouchy and somewhat frightening old man deter her from her plans though. "Um... Well, this is sort of my first time here and I was wonderi-"

"What? You sellin' somethin'?!" the old man accused, practically jabbing his finger at Melody. "Well, whatever it is! I don't want it! Now scram!"

Before Melody could get another word in edgewise, the old man had already pulled his newspaper back up and was once more reading and muttering to himself. Melody was starting to get a little annoyed with the man at this point. She began to wonder if all the people in Azalea were this rude, or of it was just this one man. Placing her hands on her hips, Melody rolled her eyes and huffed.

"EXCUSE me!" Melody shouted, causing the man to jump again. He placed his paper down and got ready to fuss at the girl again, however Melody cut him off this time before he could. "This is my first time here in town, and I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of the Pokémon Gym!"

"Oh, so your a trainer... Had about enough of them, I can tell you that. Bunch of ya been running around causin' all sorts of trouble... Why back in my day..."

Melody sighed, scratching the back of her head in frustration. At this point, finding the gym in the town... or at least getting directions, was going to prove to be a most bothering task indeed. Rather than worry about asking the old man at this point, Melody determined that she would probably be better off asking someone else. Glancing around, Melody noticed a boy that was probably her age standing off in front of the fence to a house. He had black hair and was standing with a rather strange looking Pokémon. The Pokémon looked like he had some sort of mustache and was carrying a spoon of all things.

"Well, let's see if he knows anything..." Melody decided. She motioned for Blossom to follow as she began walking towards him. The Bayleef glanced at the rambling and ranting old man one more time, before following behind Melody towards the boy. Putting the rather... disappointing interactions with her first Azalea Town resident behind her, Melody smiled brightly and waved at the boy. "Excuse meeeee~"

May I reserve a spot in this? I thought for a while about it and this RP is quite intersting in terms of concept. I'll write up an SU tomorrow :D

Also quick question about custom spells - do they have to fit in with the element? The character I'm hoping to make is a form of beastmaster.

The custom spell must only fit with your element if it is elementally-based.
Just remember to keep the spells you start with relatively weak so ou have plenty of room to build into.

My SU is incoming xD

Yeah I'll join in on this. Sounds like a bunch of fun. I'll get to writing that SU either tonight or tomorrow. But I'm definitely in.

My SU, the art is not my own.

Alex Rose
23 Years Old | Male | Bounty Hunter | Fire

Personality: Alex Rose is a man who appears apathetic to many, which isn’t entirely untrue. Alex doesn’t pay much attention to anything that he deems “uninteresting” but is actually a thrill seeker at heart. Alex thrives on the adrenaline rush that comes from being a bounty hunter. Originally from a farming family who live on the outskirts of Fairbell, Alex grew up with a boring monotonous life of constantly planting, ploughing and harvesting wheat – one of the few types of plant easy to grow in the Barren Lands. The only time he felt alive was when he went hunting for food. Now a grown man, Alex’s personality has changed little. He isn’t happy unless he is pursuing a target.

If it weren’t for his strong morals, Alex’s personality could easily have lead him to become an outlaw instead of a bounty hunter. However, despite Alex’s hatred for life as a farmer, growing up on his parents’ farm did instil in him a respect for good, honest work and a desire to punish those who trampled over the work of others. Aside from the adrenaline rush, Alex enjoys his work at a more emotional level as well simply because he is able to achieve justice for those affected badly by outlaws. Even though Alex has striven to develop his mind as well as his body in order to be as good as he can at his job and distance himself from his years as a simple farmer, Alex still feels a connection to his home deep down and will always value hard work.

Alex’s life is his job, which means he isn’t particularly good at social interaction and at times causes him to be downright tactless. He is very competitive, wanting to be the best at what he does and that leads him to be possessive of his targets unless he has agreed to work with another bounty hunter. Even when seeking the same target as another of Janet’s bounty hunters it takes a lot of work to make him agree to cooperate or back down. This can make Alex enemies although some admire his dedication. Over all Alex tries to be a good person, however his dedication to his work is not always a good thing.

Weaponry: Alex primarily makes use of two kinds of firearm (generally not at the same time). His main weapon is a sawed-off Lupara shotgun. This weapon is preferred by Alex since he doesn't have to aim as carefully due to the wider spread of its shots but also because despite this it is still quite easy to conceal below his jacket. The second firearm that Alex carries on his person is a simple revolver, this is preferable for use in an area populated by a lot of civilians since it doesn't have the wide spray of a shotgun. Alex is very proficient with guns and tends to use them before turning to elemental magic.

3 Stock Spells:

  • Elemental Burst - Fire
  • Blink
  • Elemental Shield - Fire
2 Custom Spells:
  • Multiply - Alex creates several illusions of himself or an object. These manifestations do appear to cast shadows but are not physical entities and as such don't have a scent, cannot make a sound and cannot interact with the physical world. Despite these flaws (that Alex is trying desperately to fix) this spell still proves useful in the confusion of battle.
  • Reload - A more specific version of Summon Small Object that only works within an extremely limited range. This spell can move any bullets that are on Alex's person, or that he is touching, directly into the chamber of his weapon. The most minimal amount of contact that this spell requires is for the bullets to at least be stored in a pocket of Alex's. Any further away and the spell will fail.

Edit: I have added you to the list Sonata. Is it bad I never realised you take part in RPs? xD
I have also added Chocolate to the list since he VM'd me about it. Generally a post in the OOC is preferred though guys.

Here it is! Outlaws get all the ladies Also, I made up a criminal group just so she could be working under someone noticeable, is that fine? Please do tell me if you have any issue. I actually really enjoyed writing this SU :D

Name: Sophia Hartmann
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Status: Outlaw

History/Personality:

A few years ago, one would have never had imagined Sophia Hartmann's name to appear among the governments' names of wanted criminals. Sophia was the daughter of Elias Hartmann, a rich salesman who owned most of Jeimas' weapons distributors. She never got to know her mother - according to her father, she was a "waste of a woman anyway". Having made his fortune through a series of aggressive business takeovers, E. Hartmann was a man with a competitive nature and a fiery passion for power gain. Therefore he made sure these qualities were passed on to his daughter Sophia. He enrolled her in the top schools in Orhurst. Always top of her class, Sophia would do whatever it took to get the highest marks in the school - even if it meant threatening students or teachers.

After graduation, she immediately enrolled into the healing and medicine program of Skyrith Academy as requested by her father; whom she respected and whose every command she obeyed. She was sixteen at the time. Soon after enrolling, she realized her strategy did not work anymore. Teachers here were sorcerers, much more powerful than those at the schools she attended. So were the students. She immediately requested for her father to remove her from the academy and allow her to be his apprentice and heir to the business.

Her father strongly disagreed. He knew his daughter. The moment he would take her in as an apprentice, she would begin rising up the chain of command, eventually taking his place as owner. He explained to her that he had chosen her step-brother as heir to the business. the latter was much less obsessed with success and had a "clearer mind". Sophia was to stay in Skyrith and become a nurse.

A week later, Sophia's step-brother was found in his room, pinned to the wall by his shirt, apparently having being stabbed numerous times in the chest.

After this incident, Sophia knew she had no place in Orhurst. Disguising herself as a peddler, she took the first carriage to the city of Larkin, having taken only a few boxes of food and her personal firearm which her father had given her. In Larkin, most of the money she made was though petty theft and occasional spying tasks for rich merchants. Despite living in harsh conditions, she never resorted to prostitution, and punished anyone who dared try to seduce her in any way.

Three years after her escape from her father's household, Sophia now calls the Barren Lands home. She is now an outlaw working under the notorious Culebra clan, known for their use of poison and disease to execute their crimes. Her Chameleon, Nico, was given to her as an egg at first, typical of members of the Culebra clan who receive a pet upon finishing their training. Sophia is surprisingly fond of Nico, and is rarely seen away from him. Now 13 months old, the reptile has gotten accustomed to Sophia and is often seen perching on her shoulder or head. Nico is usually calm and rarely agitated or irritated. It is quite agile and may exhale a small poison cloud as a method of self-defense, which can be used by Sophia on her enemies.

Sophia's has a good relationship with her fellow outlaws, and considers them to be her family. being known to be the most success-driven, obsessive and temperamental member in the clan has gained Sophia the respect of many of her leaders and peers. Nowadays her tasks range from robberies to assassinations to escorts.

Appearance:

Standing at a mere height of 5'3", Sophia is one of the shortest people in the Culebra clan. However, despite her looks, she is quite strong - having been sent to the best self-defense schools in Orhurst. She is often found challenging other members and outlaws to arm wrestling matches and even fistfights. Sophia sports shoulder-length, chestnut-colored curly hair which matches her chestnut-colored eyes, which often turn golden when she is casting magic. She is sometimes seen wearing a brown bandanna over her head (mostly used to conceal Nico). Like every other member of the Culebra clan, Sophia has a symbol tatooed on her left arm - a snake. This tatoo is used to enter hideouts and is magic-proof, i.e. cannot be copied by impostors. It is also the signature of the Culebra clan. Nico is a small Dwarf Chameon whose color changes based on his mood and/or environment. He has the ability to secrete toxic gas, unlike most of his species.

Sophia's attire allows for both comfort and utility. She is usually seen wearing a long-sleeved green undershirt and bra with a small brown jacket. Her gloves are fingerless and preceded by long cyan-colored wristbands which often cover up most of her forearm. On her left arm, there is a hole in her shirt near her biceps - allowing her to display her tatoo whenever necessary. Sophia keeps her money, ammunition weapons in a pouch attached to her belt, which is brown. Along with a brown skirt, she also wears green tight-fit pants that match her shirt. Her boots are brown and made of leather. During cold or rainy weather, she wears a thick leather jacket similar to the one she normally has on (except it is larger and longer), as well as a cyan-colored scarf.

Element: Air

Weaponry:

  • Poison-tipped Dagger
  • Classic Revolver
Stock Spells:
  • Elemental Burst - Air
  • Elemental Shield - Air
  • Minor Healing
Custom Spells:
  • Poison Cloud - Sophia's Chameleon exhales a poisonous gas which causes skin to burn and occasionally temporary blindness. Sophia may infuse the Chameleon with air magic to increase the size of the poison cloud. Cannot be used repeatedly, and depends on the presence of the Chameleon itself.
  • Cham-ouflage - Mimicking the powers of a Chameleon, Sophia blends in with the environment and may temporarily take the appearance of any nearby object such as a chair or tree. While in this state, she is incapable of moving, speaking or casting magic. The illusions are also not always perfect - e.g. slight discoloration, presence of a few hairs, inability to function (in the case of machinery), etc.

Roleplay Sample:

Spoiler: Taken from "The Pokémon Trainer Academy" RP

  • Poison Jab

Ryan clutched his coat. I'm starting to regret this journey already... he thought. He frowned at his own remark - he was doing this for Vulpix. It was cold, and he was tired. He was accustomed to cold temperatures, but spending a full year in the academy had made him more used to the mild ocean air of the island. His Pokemon were more experienced now, having gained in levels.

-----------------

It was almost 2 weeks since Ryan had left the academy to go to the Volcano. As Vulpix had started to get more experienced, the flame within it had began to grow bigger and bigger. It had gotten to the extent that the fire was beginning to harm the poor fox Pokemon. Ryan had visited multiple Pokemon centres:

"Your poor Vulpix is suffering from Inner Combustion." Nurse Joy had told him. "It's a rare disease that usually affects fire types, and predominantly Vulpix. The flame that gives Vulpix its abilities has gotten too strong for Vulpix's body to host it, and can potentially damage his inner organs if not dealt with. This usually happens when the Pokemon is too strong for its level - the only way to cure it is through evolution, which would give the flame more space and negate the effects of the disease."

Unfortunately, this meant Ryan needed a fire stone - a rare item only found in volcanoes and underground caves. He therefore had decided to plan a trip to the Volcano and get the fire stone to cure Vulpix's illness.

On his trip to the mountains, Ryan had also caught a new Pokemon - Dwebble. The poor creature had been stuck in a hole when Ryan found it, unable to move. Ryan had saved and fed it, and it had willingly agreed to join him in his travels. It was extremely helpful when Ryan had to go down cliffs or walk through narrow paths, as it could use Dig to help him.

---------------

Ryan looked sideways at Snover. "You doing good?" he asked. It was a stupid question, really. The ice-type Pokemon was at home in the mountains. Frolicking in the cold and snow, she absolutely loved the weather.

"Snover! Sno!" she chimed, jumping up and down in the snow. Ironically, we're heading towards a volcano, he thought, chucking to himself.

Welcome to the RP Fox xD
I will say though, I'm reserving judgement on the grappling hook for now since it's not very "western"

I also would like to ask some things of you guys.

  1. How many people would you guys like to see on the wanted list to start with bearing in mind all player Outlaws should be considered wanted criminals?
  2. Would you be agreeable to uniform post headers?

I'm fine with both, as long as the post header is good (I trust your css skills though, no worries :D) Plus, it would be kind of boring if the outlaws weren't wanted.

I'll see what I can do so long as the others don't mind, although I am always open to suggestions from the rest of you who can do CSS (probably better than me xD). The reasoning behind that question, is that I'd like certain things displayed at the beginning of everyone's posts.

Whether or not outlaws would be wanted or not was never in question, any player outlaw is automatically wanted. My question is, how many NPCs do we want on the wanted list to begin with? I'd like to see what you think before I actually post the list. I want this RP to be as much fun for everyone as possible.

Well, you should first of all list the names of the "Big Bads" as theye're the principal outlaws. You could also have a few weak self-employed thieves for the Bounty Hunters to start off with, and maybe some of Sophia's clan because I'm a selfish little muk

I can perhaps include some of Sophia's group.

I'm not planning on introducing the "Big Bads" yet. The idea is that as characters get stronger so will the people on the wanted list.

So we won't know any of them till they actually appear? I was hoping to have at least a list of them for reference, would suit the Bounty Hunters too (e.g. "I wann' be the best bounty hunter ever and kill *insert big bad* 'cause he killed me nan!")

You do raise a good point, I think I will include a list.

WANTED: DEAD or ALIVE

The following list will be updated regularly according to the development of the story in Gunpowder.

Spoiler: The Dead Priest Gang
Raymond Holt
Element: Water
Bounty: $4000
Appearance: Raymond Holt is a tall and rather handsome man in his mid to late twenties. His has sun-tanned skin, angular features and a striking demeanour. He has long, straight brown hair and a slightly pointed goatee of the same colour and dark eyes. He typically wears navy blue trousers, a white shirt and a poncho and hat in the colour of his pants.
Info: Extremely intelligent, conniving and ruthless concealed by a charming - albeit snarky- demeanour around people, Holt is skilled in the conception of detailed and effective plans and has a photographic memory. Whilst Tess was alive she used him primarily for surveillance and theft, the unknown leader of the Dead Priest Gang does similarly. He is wanted for robbery and murder.

Irene Holt
Element: Fire
Bounty: $2000
Appearance: Tall and lean with sharp features and long flowing brown hair, Irene cuts a striking and imposing figure. Like her brother she has sun-tanned skin and dark eyes. She generally wears black pants and burnt orange, and severely oversized shirt with a slightly lighter bandanna wrapped around her neck.
Info: Despite her somewhat intimidating look, Irene has a rather goofy personality. She has little regard for right and wrong and enjoys goading friend and foe alike. She tends towards the flamboyant and specialises in causing distractions (which she then easily escapes) whilst her brother does the majority of the dirty work. She is wanted primarily for property destruction although her antics have lead to the death of many caught in the cross fire.

Robert Hogan
Element: None
Bounty: $3000
Appearance: Hogan is a man who is both imposingly tall and terribly overweight. His head is extremely round and, like his multiple chins, is always shaved completely bald. He generally wears brown pants and a white shirt along with a simple vest that strains against his rotund figure.
Info: He doesn't look like much but Hogan is quite the dangerous man. He is an extremely good sniper and is an extremely perceptive man although of no great cognitive ability. He rounds out a sort of team with the Holts, covering the two of them from great distances.

Spoiler: The Dodgy Gang
"Dodgy" David Green
Element: None
Bounty: $2300
Appearance: Dodgy looks almost as shady as his name would suggest. He's a man of slightly above-average height with moderately tanned skin, but what sets him apart is his dark, narrow eyes, thin whisky moustache and pointed goatee. He usually wears clothes that obscure his features such as ponchos, large hats and bandannas and usually those are in dark colours.
Info: Dodgy is a proponent of the mostly defunct slave trade. He captures people and then sells them to other outlaws for whatever price he can get. His methods of capture tend towards subtler tactics but he isn't afraid to use violence if need be.

Luthas Locke
Element: None
Bounty: $600
Appearance: Locke is a tall, well built and just generally handsome as hell man with ebony skin. His features are chiselled, his hair is cut neatly, his beard is well-groomed and his gaze is piercing due to his sharp grey eyes. Luthas is generally seen wearing a classy-looking black and white suit (that is actually 100% stolen).
Info: Locke is a sneaky bastard and a great liar, skills that Dodgy puts to good use. Giving off the appearance of a calm, well-educated businessman from the north, Locke is actually uncouth and mean-spirited and uses his appearance and acting skills to seduce gullible southern women and then kidnapping them to be sold.

Dominque Druer
Element: Wind
Bounty: $700
Appearance: Druer is an attractive blonde woman who was born in the north of Jeimas. Despite her new place of residence, her choice of attire has left her skin snowy pale and unscathed. She generally dresses in figure-hugging attire and is know for carrying a parasol... that just happens to have a knife concealed in the base.
Info: Much like Locke does, Druer seduces people and sets them up for kidnapping. She is known for putting up a playful, teasing persona but the truth of it is that as a former slave herself she's become cold and callous. Her magic has been relatively untrained over the years and as such is generally quite mediocre but she has a knack for slipping a knife into someones ribs or slipping poison into their drinks.

Spoiler: The Griffin Gang
William McCarthy
Element: Fire
Bounty: $1100
Appearance: Dumpy and extremely unattractive but not unhealthy-looking is a pretty accurate description of McCarthy. He has a long, flabby and sallow face with sunken eyes and an enormous nose and unkempt long brown hair that reaches down to the base of his neck. Easily mistaken for a merchant, McCarthy is normally relatively well-dressed preferring shirts of yellows and browns, brown trousers and matching vests, ties and bowler hats in shades of red or purple.
Info: McCarthy is a small time follower of the Big Bad, Felix Griffin. He's dumpy and kind of slow but is usually working with a relatively large group of subordinates and is capable with fire magic. McCarthy is wanted for crimes centred primarily around the theft of livestock but also including assault and murder. He is not to be targeted by a rookie anywhere near the vicinity of Griffin's mansion.

Alden Bellamy
Element: Earth
Bounty: $2600
Appearance: An averagely built man in his late forties with short, greying brown hair and a stubbly face. His once extremely fit body is beginning to soften as he takes on less and less work with age but he still gives the appearance of strength. He has a long scar on the side of his face. Bellamy typically wears jeans, chaps and a flannel shirt.
Info: A former sheriff of Silverston, Bellamy went many years making extra money through blackmail and being on Griffin's pay role. When he was found out however, things naturally went to **** so these days he serves under Griffin stealing and illegally reselling livestock for a cut.

Spoiler: The Sangre Clan
Sophia Hartmann
Element: Air
Bounty: $2200
Appearance: Hartmann is the leader of the clan. Fairly short and agile, she has light skin and chestnut eyes and hair which she sometimes covers with a bonnet. Typically seen with cyan shirt and leggings and a brown jacket and skirt.
Info: Very hotheaded - do not taunt or try to negotiate with too much. Despite her diminutive appearance she is a trained, cunning assassin and possesses the ability to blend in with her surroundings, so be on the lookout in case she knows you are tracking her. Be mindful of her chameleon too as she has been seen using it as a weapon. She is wanted for murder, theft, and assisting in the destruction of Wrench - along with many other crimes.

Warning: This character and the rest of the gang are player characters and Foxrally will fox you up if you go for them.

Marzia Alesi
Element: Electricity
Bounty: $2100
Appearance: Average height, small stature. Marzia Alesi has sun-tanned skin, short black hair and dark green eyes. Attire changes often, but on average she appears
Info: Silent, tactical and serious, Marzia is a powerful opponent, ever more so than Sophia. Her lifelong assassin's experience along with the many tracking and deadly spells in her arsenal make her a dangerous enemy in both close and ranged combat. Similar to Sophia, she has also been seen using a venomous snake as a weapon in the past, though recent sightings de-bunk this. Be on the lookout, however. She is wanted for She is wanted for murder and assisting in the destruction of Wrench - along with many other crimes.

Abraham "Ol' Abe" Jones
Element: Earth
Bounty: $650
Appearance: Abraham Jones is a retired miner with a bald head and a long scruffy white beard with many gold rings in it. Hunched and wrinkly, he mostly wears brown or black suspenders with a white undershirt (or none at all) and brown boots.
Info: Once an owner of his own mining crew and export business, Ol' Abe was kicked from the Jeimas miners' association for illegally supplying resources to outlaw gangs, including the Culebras. After a violent mutiny that left him without an eye, he was taken in by the Culebras as a scout and treasurer. What the old muk lacks in physical strength, he makes up for in experience and magical proficiency. He is also a known kleptomaniac. Wanted for treason and theft.

Frank Tolkins
Element: None
Bounty: $500
Appearance: Tolkins is a fairly average-looking man, fairly good-looking for his age and well-built. His black hair, sun-tanned skin and brown eyes are as common as dirt in the barren lands, making him rather difficult to spot in large crowds.
Info: Tolkins is a rather new member of the Sangre Clan. According to sources, he was a former member of the Hangman's gang before Rex Flinder's massacre - having been on a scouting trip when the event happened and joining the Culebras. Frank is known to be proficient with most kinds of firearm, from shotguns to pistols to rifles, though he is not a magic user. He is wanted for multiple counts of murder.

Spoiler: The Holy Order
Lucas Seraph Martirio
Element: Earth
Bounty: $230
Appearance: Like something oft found in history books, Martirio is clad in steel, including cuirass, greaves, gauntlet and tabard. With brown hair that curles to the back at the end, he has a ginger vam dyke and green eyes. He is muscular by the pure usage of his heavy armour. His face is starting to show signs of age yet his eyes still gleam with tenacity. His out-of-place attire may turn a few heads but it has spared his life quite a few occasions.
Info: Martirio, proud devotee to Gaudium, is a zealous man who is a Knight of the Holy Order. He is a caster who has incredibly precise aim, he can deflect bullets or slice them in half, with the reflexes of a panther. He holds a large reverence of the natural hierarchy, being subservient to Anima first, Shadow second.

Altan Burakgazi
Element: Water
Bounty: $400
Appearance: Adorned in red and white robes, he casts a contrast within his group. His eyes are alive with ecstasy as he languishes in taking life. He typically dons a white cowl and a white jacket with a red sash that ties in to a loop around the waist. The bottom half is the end of his robe and his sandals or shoes.
Info: Altan has an obsession with blood, gifted from Gaudium was the ability to control blood, he is mentally unstable and puts his desires and reverence in to every battle, to question his power would be to question Gaudium. As a Knight of the Holy Order, he believes in Gaudium, the omnipotent being in charge of the heavenly Astral Planes. Despite being loyal to the Order, he answers first to Gaudium and then to any mortal. He is extremely zealous and any irreverence to his deity and he will smite them is a bloody rain of gore and sanguine.

Elliott Temere
Element: ???
Bounty: $3,000 (Price paid on apprehension – Debt: $300,000)
Appearance: Elliott dresses in a brown leather jacket and a white shirt which more often than not has a patch of dust or dirt on it. He has messy medium length blond hair with azure irises. His smile is a mischievous one but his eyes have a mix of troublesome audacity and a problematic past.
Info: Plagued by debt, Elliott has fled to the south to run away from the law, tailed by bounty hunters, he has made it this far by luck. Elliott has had his entire magical system messed up from his birth. He owns a Spell book but the pages are blank. He has the potential to obliterate the enemy, or give them a nice bouquet of daffodils. At the same time as he could turn in to a colossal version of himself, he could stop existing. Although the middle of these two extremes are more common. It is not beyond his ability to create objects. He tries to stylise his unpredictability as a Magician, a joker, to keep a façade of intention.

Shadow
Element: Wind
Bounty: $352.23
Appearance: As a native of Jeimas, her skin is notably darker but still light. Before joining Anima she wore simple white top and practical trousers, with a brown and mustard shawl wrapped up around her, she had plaited black hair the reached the mid-back. She used to have Native Jeiman war paint on, most noticeably a line of burgandy level with her cheek bone under the eyes. Now she has joined Anima, the braids have morphed in to simplicity, her hair has been cut to her shoulders. She no longer adorns herself with Native paints. Her shawl is now tucked away, her attire has blended to the society around her and increased in practicality. At all time she has her bow around her chest and a quiver.
Info: Previously set out for revenge against the dastardly invader, she has been converted in to worship of Gaudium. While Anima was in prison she has learned to be independent and authorative. She is the main public preacher of the Holy Order. Mostly disguising her rhetoric as political unrest aimed at the church, for example ranting about the amount of tithing taken, etcetera. She has managed to recruit the majority of the current members of Holy Order. She is titled High Priestess. She takes the business end of the Holy Order, acting as advisor to Anima and organiser of Operations.

WANTED: BIG BADS

The following characters should not appear until a GM introduces them. They are there to allow for plot devices.

Spoiler:
The Night Wolf
Element: Water, Earth, Fire
Bounty: $23,000
Appearance: The Night Wolf is a tall and heavily muscled man in his late thirties of indigenous Jeiman descent (think Native American). He has broad shoulders and a strong jaw as well as small but intense eyes. He is always cleanly shaven. His attire almost always consists of black cloth pants, no shirt, and an ornate headers made from a wolf pelt. Around his neck he wears a bone necklace. During cold nights he will don a pelt to keep warm.
Info: Known only by his epithet, this man is directly descended the first indigenous Jeimans. He views those who are not of similar heritage as thieves of land that rightfully belongs to his people - even though most indigenous tribes made piece with descendants of settlers a long time ago. He is very well known for his use of wolf familiars.

Veralice Rylian
Element: Non-elemental magic
Bounty: $30, 000
Appearance: Veralice typically goes about using the appearance of Alice, a young girl of 4'7" and a tiny frame with shoulder length red hair and pale skin. The rather regal outfit of Alice is long gone now though with Veralice generally donning worn and rag-like clothes that give them the appearance of a street urchin if anything. At any time, Veralice can switch to Verely's body which is that of a tall and featureless humanoid with pitch-black skin.
Info: Veralice is the strange hybrid of a young and traumatised northerner girl and an ancient evil unearthed by a mad woman and has a personality that is a strange hybrid of both. They both want to destroy and protect making them extremely unpredictable, and considering their immense power - extremely dangerous. Veralice is wanted primarily for the mass slaughter at Wrench but also for many other killings.

"Undead" Lachlan Buzzard
Element: Electricity
Bounty: $30,000
Appearance: Buzzard is a man of advanced age with fragile-lookin features. His skin is pale, loose and heavily wrinkled and his eyes are pale and sunken. Shorter than he was in his youth, Buzzard is almost sickly looking despite being in relatively good health for his age. He dresses somewhat theatrically often wearing a tail coat and top hat.
Info: At 74 years of age, it is a remarkable feat for this man to still be considered a "Big Bad" of the Barren Lands. However when one considers his immense skill as a sorcerer and the droves of very dangerous men that follow him, it is perhaps understandable that he's still on the list. At his advanced age he rarely leaves his hideout, the location of which is unknown, but his influence can be felt all over the Barren Lands.

Demon
Element: Fire, Earth, Electricity
Bounty: $40,000
Appearance: Demon is a stocky man of average height but a bulky build. He's covered in hair, including a thick beard and his skin is almost leathery from exposure to the sun - although he has been lying low for a while now. Demon typically wears his signature coat, which is very thick and is made from fur and leather, and a large hat. He often wears sunglasses and is constantly smoking a cigar.
Info: Demon possesses the second highest bounty in recorded history. Why? Because for fun he and his gang will ride through a town and massacre everyone in sight. At least three smaller towns in the Barren Lands have suffered this fate. Due to his power and brutality people rarely go anywhere near this man or his lackeys, even bounty hunters and law enforcement.

Felix Griffin
Element: Non-magical
Bounty: $34, 000
Appearance: Felix is a tall and proud-looking man in his early fifties. His brown hair, set on a long and broad face, is slowly starting to thin and is kept cut close to his scalp as a result. Felix is always very well-dressed belying his wealth and is typically seen wearing a black suit and white shirt and gloves.
Info: Perhaps the strangest thing about this outlaw, is that everyone knows where to find him. He lives in a very large mansion on a very large cattle ranch in the Barren Lands not far from Silverton or The Great Chasm. The thing about this dangerous individual, is that it is his intelligence that has earned him his reputation. He simply organises and plans heists on mines, trains, banks and cattle ranches and then takes a cut. In the case of cattle many are brought back to his home where they are either butchered for meat or sold. He conducts his operations almost openly, simply paying off government officials and scaring people off with his connections. He was formerly protected by members of "Sister" Tess' gang, however her recent death has left the state of his defences uncertain.

Bonny Cassidy
Element: Non-magical
Bounty: $33, 000
Appearance: Bonny Cassidy is an average looking woman, not just in respects to attractiveness but to everything else also. She is very plain and she likes it that way, it makes it a lot easier to do what she is paid to do. she stands at an unimpressive but short height, is of an average build and complexion and wears he brown hair in a ponytail or bun. Her attire changes a lot depending on her target but is always simple to help her avoid detection.
Info: Perhaps the most unique among the Big Bads, Cassidy has no following of her own. She is actually a hired gun known for having a talent for killing those with magical abilities despite having none herself. There is no kind of weapon she isn't proficient with and although she is expensive, if you pay her to take someone out - they will die. She is often employed by fellow Big Bads such as Lachlan Buzzard and Felix Griffin.

Jedediah Rush
Element: Fire, Water, Earth, Electricity
Bounty: $47,000
Appearance: Rush is a fairly handsome but ragged looking man with long and unruly black hair and wild eyes. Just one look at him gives the impression that he can be a bit animalistic and that he is someone who should not be trifled with. Rush is always a bit unruly in his appearance, dressing in dark colours save for his trademark green poncho.
Info: Rush possesses the highest bounty in the history of Jeimas, and the reason for that is simple. Not only is he a very powerful spellcaster, who is willing to go to great lengths to achieve his goals, but he is also the leader of a revolutionary group seeking to overthrow the Jeiman government. They are based in the Barren Lands but in recent years have forayed further and further into the north.

"Red-Faced" Borya Bogden
Element: Fire, Air, Water, Earth
Bounty: $20, 000
Appearance: Short, stumpy, bulky but gradually becoming pudgy, hairy and usually red in the face (hence his epithet). Borya is man of somewhat negligible height whose once heavily muscled body is beginning to see the effects of his constant drinking and partying. Borya's face is all but obscured by his thick beard that is the same shade as his unruly black hair and his face is usually tinted red with drunkenness. As for his attire, Borya usually wears tattered old suits.
Info: Originally a citizen of one of the small ice-covered islands in Jeimas' north, Bogdan lived in a small and very poor community of fishers. He moved to the Barren Lands in order to become a gold miner and return home with his takings. However he soon got greedy, turned from an honest worker to a thief and practically forgot about his hometown. He is believed to be dwelling in Silverton and is known to be a drunkard and a party animal.

Aaron Fletcher
Element:Air, Water, Earth
Bounty: $26, 000
Appearance: Constantly wearing a devious grin, Fletcher is a tall and wiry man with gradually greying dark brown hair and a thick handlebar moustache. Fletcher is hard to distinguish from your every day rancher, so he often slips away from bounty hunters or into trains easily despite his face being plastered all over the Barren Lands.
Info: Nobody is totally sure where this man came from, one day he was a small time crook without even a bounty and then, within a week of his discovery, he succeeded in robbing four different trains carrying gold between Larkin and Wrench in the space of two days. Fletcher always targets trains and always succeeds and honestly seems to do it just for the fun of it.

Jessica Wilcox
Element:All
Bounty: $39, 000
Appearance: Jess is a taller woman with broad shoulders and strong limbs, but a thin build besides this. She has long dirty-blonde hair that is always tied up behind her head and is notable for her vivid blue eyes that shine past what is usually a grim expression. Her attire generally consists of matching pants and vest and a pale coloured shirt. A necklace of sea shells always adorns her neck.
Info: Jess Wilcox is the "Robin Hood" of Jeimas and an associate of Jedediah Rush (although not officially a member of his group). She is feared as the most powerful spellcaster on the wrong side of the law but tends to avoid actually killing anyone. She resides somewhere in the Barren Lands, but actually commits her crimes in the north mostly. She steals from those who are rich and gives money to the poor and needy in the south... keeping a bit for herself. Jess is the Big Bad who all but crippled Janet.

DECEASED BIG BADS

The following are "Big Bads" who have been killed.

Spoiler:
"Sister" Tess
Element: Air, Water, Electricity, Earth
Bounty: $31, 000
Appearance: Tess is a dark-skinned woman with short ut wavy brown hair and unblemished skin. She stands at a respectable height and has a toned body built through criminal endeavours. Her thick eyebrows are set above a gaze that can only be bored, angry or stern-looking. For attire Tess typically wears black pants and a dark-coloured corset. A brown leather choker is always around her neck.
Info: "Sister" Tess was once a nun of Fairbell, until she realised her true calling was crime. When she was young she secretly studied the magical arts with a stolen spellbook, getting a taste for crime and power. She used her power to extort the church and to build up a veritable army of small time followers. Above all else Tess loves money, and she'll go to extreme lengths to get it - including killing her own wealthy family members.

"Sister" Tess' face is terrifying XD Where did you get those pics?

Also, quick question - who defines an outlaw's bounty? Would 1000$ be considered the highest?

Colt Marshall

Age : 25
Gender: Male
Status: Bounty Hunter

Personality:
A sharpshooter-turned-mercenary, Colt is just in it for the money. He'd be more than happy to quit hunting as soon as he had a pile of cash to work with, but that isn't the case (yet).

"In this line of work, there aren't any good or bad guys. Just the smart ones, and the dead ones."

Colt is a tough, grizzled man who has only two concerns in life: money, and his own well-being. He has no known family, as he was orphaned at a very young age. He learned to shoot very early on, and as he grew up he used this skill to provide for himself. As a young boy he divided his time between hunting animals to sell and showing off his skills as a trick shot in the nearby towns. He never stayed anywhere very long though, as new prospects always spurred the young man onward.

As Colt grew older, he realized that his talents as a marksman/hunter could be used for another avenue: bounty hunting. There were plenty of people that would pay to have a few bullets put through an outlaw or two, and that sounded like easy money to him.

Appearance:
Colt is a tall, lean-built man around 6'2" and 170 pounds. He sports shaggy dark-brown hair, which is normally concealed under his wide-brimmed hat. Colt's usual attire consists of a long tanned leather coat and a bandanna to shield his face in harsh weather. He also wears several belts of ammunition, never wanting to be caught without bullets.

Element: Water
Weaponry:
- Two .45 revolvers
- Survival Knife

3 Stock Spells:
- Minor Repulsion
- Summon Small Object
- Minor Healing

2 Custom Spells:
- Freeze:
Concentrating on the water molecules in the air around him, Colt forms a thin coating of ice around his target. Moderately easy to break or melt, this ability mostly serves to slow the target down.
- Hail Shot:
Firing a round off into the air, Colt forms dark clouds around an area, which pelt anything in their range with tiny shards of ice.

There! Done. Tell me what you think. I even threw in the CSS to show that I actually learned something.

Looking forward to this. Just had a few questions though. What happens if a bounty hunter player successfully "catches" an outlaw player? How would those encounters work? Secondly, do all spells need to be read from books every time they are used? Thirdly, where do we start out in region?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions, just curious and excited.

You can choose anywhere from $0-$1000 to start with.
As the RP progresses i will determine if your bounty increases.

On the other hand, a hunter starts with zero collected but increased automatically every time the successfully capture/kill a criminal and bring them back to Janet's.

You're getting there xD
I would have made it a bit thinner I think though.

1. That depends really, generally though if the outlaw is brought back to the agency (or the police if you are good enough to free-lance) then you get the bounty and then they either escape or remain there until they get hanged or serve their sentence. if they escape before then, no money for you.

2. The best method would be a joint post I think

3. You can start anywhere within the Chasm but at no point can you leave the Chasm without me saying so.

Also, you're in.

Edit: I have added you to the list Sonata. Is it bad I never realised you take part in RPs? xD
I have also added Chocolate to the list since he VM'd me about it. Generally a post in the OOC is preferred though guys.

Truth be told this will be my first text only rp. The excitement grows. And I'm upset that there's a big bad named Jedediah since I had the thought to name my character Jebediah, but I worked it out I think. I'll pretty this up with some css later and maybe beef up the personality section since it's somewhat wimpy. And hopefully my scenario is good enough. I didn't really know what to put down so if I've missed anything throughout just point it out and I'll get on it. Also is a book just an item of power that supplies the user with the spells they're casting or do you have to read the spell every time you cast it?

Spoiler:

Name: Jebediah Sanders
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Status: Bounty Hunter

Personality:

A hard working bounty hunter with a flair for the dramatic. At his core he wishes to uphold peace but he can't help but gamble away his life just like any other fool. Once he chooses a target he won't stop pursuing them until the job is done.

He profusely refuses to harm a female and will actually do just about anything that they ask of him. There have been instances in when he has been ordered to kill a woman, which caused him to go berserk and kill everyone that was a male and in attendance.

He follows in his father's footsteps as an enforcer of the law, but follows his own principles and prefers to take action himself rather than sit as a judge like his father. He will not hesitate to shoot a man he thinks may be dangerous which has led to many bar fights caused by he himself. But due to his father's legacy he gets off quick.

Appearance:

A tall man standing an even 6 foot. Too many close encounters with death have left him with multiple scars. Grey streaks have started invading his slicked back hair that he covers with a cowboy's hat which has a sheriff's badge pinned to it. His left ear is missing a chunk that was shot out on his first day working as a bounty hunter nearly 10 years ago. He has a set of two earrings in his right ear in roughly the same place where the hole is on his left. Part of his cheek is missing giving it a caved in look and he is always either smoking a cigar or chewing some tobacco.

He wears a dusty red and black trench coat with assorted furs sewn together beneath it. He is proficient with the two revolvers that he carries with him as well as the old worn out captain's sword that his father gave to him when he passed away.

Element: Air

Weaponry:

- Dual .45 revolvers (Mr. Truth is a typical 6 shot, Rey is an experimental 18 shot)
Spoiler:
Rey

- Captain's sword
Spoiler:
3 Stock Spells:
- Hex of Pain
- Elemental Shield - Air
- Summon small object
2 Custom Spells:

Tunnel Shot - air
Whenever Jebediah shoots a gun (more proficient with revolvers) he can use this spell to controller the direction of the shot up to a certain range. But as he grows more powerful the range increases.
Windfury
This spell enhances the muscles or the senses of the body or mind and gives you a chance to either physically move faster or to react/notice something faster.
Sample:

Case 13946
Scarlet Pore [deceased]
Status: Closed

Case 11781
Jebediah and Ricky [unknown]
Status: Open

This report was found in the hand of Ms. Scarlet Pore who was found with a bullet hole in her head outside of The Chasm.

My name is Scarlet Pore, this is my report. I had been tailing Jebediah on his mission to find Ricky "The Ricochet" for nearly three months. This was tasked to me by Janet as my first mission ever as a bounty hunter. Tonight Jebediah finally managed to track down Ricky. They're inside of a small shack on the edge of (scribbled out). I'm going to get as close as I can and try to listen in on the conversation. (the rest of the report has either been burned or is soaked in blood)

"Hey! Hey! Wake up you sonuvarattata!" Jebediah was yelling at Ricky who was sitting bound to a chair.

Jebediah had nearly had his head lopped off by Ricky a mere few hours before when he first entered the cabin. Ricky had finally noticed he was being tailed and had feigned going to sleep and then waited for Jebediah to come in so that he could kill him, however Jebediah had dodged and knocked him out by hitting his temple with the butt of one of his revolvers.

"The hell d'ya want?" Ricky spat back.

"Well, I need some information son. See now, I know that you've been workin' with Jedediah Rush. And so I know that you know where he is. And I'ma need that information."

"You can go to hell for all I care, I ain't given you nuthin." Ricky snorted and pulled up a mouthful of snot and spat it right in Jeb's face.

"Oh you done it now son." Jebediah said as he took the sheets from the bed and wiped his face off. "Now I'ma have to kill ya."

Jebediah walked over to his coat which he had taken off to tie up Ricky and pulled out a package of chewing tobacco stuffing a big piece in his lip.

"Now, we can do this the easy way, or we can do it the fun way Ricky. Which would you prefer?"

"I prefer the way where you let me up outta this here chair and I kick your ass."

"Tsk tsk tsk. Ya know, I had honestly thought we might've been able to work somethin' out. Ya see, I only have two handfuls'a friends as it is now." Jebediah said as he turned towards Ricky. "I've got lil miss Rey," he shook his left hand which held one of his revolvers, "and I've got Mr. Truth." He said as he shook his right hand which held his other revolver. "Mr. Truth just loves to make new friends and unfortunately for you, you're on his list."

"The hell are ya gonna do? Shoot me? You ain't the first mista. I can handle my fair share of pain."

"Well that'll be perfect then won't it Mr. Truth." He said as he looked over at his right hand which he started shaking up and down. "Ohhhhh man now yous'a getting Mr. Truth all excited, I think I'll let Mr. Truth have all the fun tonight."

Jebediah put down Rey on the table and walked over to where Ricky was sitting, pulling up the only other chair in the room and sitting across from him.

"Before I let Mr. Truth have his fun, I'm going to give you one more chance." Jebediah said as he opened the cylinder of the revolver and removed all but one bullet. "You and me is gonna play a game. I ask you a question and then you answer it. If you don't answer it I'll count to five and then pull Mr. Truth's trigger." As Jebediah said these words he moved closer and closer to Ricky until they were face to face. "Right. In. Your. Gut." With these final four words he shoved the barrel of the gun into Ricky's belly button and then pushed it up so that when he fired it would go up into his body and come out breaking his spine.

"Psyduck. You." Ricky said as a smile crept across his face.

"Have it your way, I'll still play. 1....2....3....4....5." Click. Nothing.

"Are you psyducking crazy!?" Ricky screamed as his heartbeat skyrocketed. "You might actually kill me!"

"That's the point?" Jebediah said smiling. "Now let me ask you again, where is Jedediah Rush?"

"The hell if I know? Let me out of this chair you psyducking maniac!"

"Sigh. You see Ricky, for some people it's hard to kill another man. For me? Not so much. The thing about killing is, once you've killed someone close to you, killing some random piece of muk doesn't even matter anymore."

"Wh...what?"

"Oh that's right Ricky. I've killed many many men before you, the first of which was my father. Oh that great great man, the epitome of righteousness. All the people of the town loved him and he showed them all compassion and kept them all safe. But alas, he forgot he even had a son. Taking care of so many people, and ignoring the one person that actually mattered. It made me so angry that after 17 years of it I just finally snapped. One night I walked into his bedroom, pulled Mr. Truth out of his dresser drawer, and made friends with the back of his balding head."

"You're...you're mad. You're mad! Help! Heeeeellllpppp! Anyone! Help Me! Heeeeeellllpppp!"

"Yes Ricky, yes yes. Scream for help. Scream as loud as you can. You picked the most secluded place for the very reason that you didn't want anyone to hear me scream am I right?"

"Heeeeellllpppp!" Ricky was screaming at the top of his lungs, his voice becoming so loud that it started to crack and the screaming started breaking up and turning into an uncontrollable sobbing broken up every few seconds by a defeated man's call for help.

"Nobody's gonna help you Ricky. You're a piece of muk. Even if you did have someone who actually cared about you they still wouldn't care. So I'll ask the question again, and if you refuse to answer I'll pull the trigger twice this time. Okay?"

"Fu- *sniff* fu- *sniff* psyduck youuuu." His you trailing off into a whimper.

"Well here we go again I suppose. 1....2....3....4....5." Click. Click. With each click Ricky jumped in his seat a little, his voice jumping up and the tears coming down even harder each time. He was broken.

"This is your final chance Ricky. Either you answer me here or it's over. What'll it be?"

"Whatdya want from me man?" He cried out. "I don't know anything you don't, I'm just a low class criminal you know that. I've only got a $600 bounty. Why me....why meee...." At this point Ricky was starting to not even make sense anymore, his words were muddled and his face was covered in sweat, snot and tears.

"I suppose that's all there is then. I'll put you out of your misery."

"Pu- pu- pu- pu- please don't d- d- do this. I'm begging you pleeeeeeeeease."

"Sorry Ricky. I told you my story and you refused to tell me yours. I can't just let you walk away." Click. Bang. Click. Ricky's body jumped two times. Once from the click and the second from the shock of the bullet. The bullet severed his spine, and Ricky bled out in that cabin.

The door creaked open as the gunshot went off and revealed a girl that had seen the whole thing.

"Oh. No no no. Look what you've gone and done now. My do I hate killing women." Jebediah picked up Rey from the table he had put it on and aimed the sights for Scarlet. "Right between the eyes." Bang.
