Appearance: Cory is tall for his age, already up to five feet, seven inches in hieght. He has an average body build and can be seen wearing denim jeans, with a denim jacket over a white tank top. His eyes are as calm and deep as the sky, while his hair is a bright golden blonde, short and slightly curly. His footwear is grayish sneakers with steeltoe tips to reduce risk of injuring his feet if something is dropped on them.

Personality:
Cory is calm and kind, but at the same time somewhat displaced with the world around him. He usually keeps his distance from people, not out of being anti-social, but out of respect for people's personal space. He is usually seen off by himself, or with his Pokemon, always having a sullen expression on his face.


Though not many things anger him, he does still have his own pet peevs. He doesn't care if people make fun of him, but if one of his Pokemon or a friend of his gets hurt for the wrong reasons, he will seek out justice for the wrongdoing. He is also somewhat... simple, for lack of a better term. If a person is not specific in some way, Cory has trouble following along. But if given an explicit set of directions, he can execute them very precisely.


He also has a motto: “Its better to gain a Pokemon's trust as a friend, rather than try to catch it with force, even if it does seem like its unavoidable.” and does his best to “catch” Pokemon by showing them he is their friend, moreso than trainer, believing the act will build much better, long time bonds.

History:
Cory grew up in Hoenn, (City/Town pending), where he didn't start his Pokemon journeys like most other people due to the fact his father died of cancer, and his mother was stricken with grief. His mother had become ill for a while, making Cory mature at a much quicker pace in order to cope with the drastic changes in his life. He was only ten when it happened, and wasn't able to go with his childhood friends on their Pokemon journeys, for five years he would not be able to partake on his own.


After five years have passed, Cory had grown into a very mature teenager, but a sheltered one at that. Because of the lack in Pokemon interaction he has not yet been able to experience the joys that most people experience, nor the hardships that come with it. He is calm yet distant, the only Pokemon he has ever seen was the Gardevior that was recently trained by the local Pokemon Center to help him with taking care of his sick mother. For five years he worked hard to restore his mother's health, and she did indeed recover to a good degree. Though reluctant to leave after so long, his mother had insisted to finally partake in his Pokemon journey.


Gathering up some Pokeballs by using some of his spare life earnings, he set out to try and catch a Pokemon. Being handicapped by not having a starting Pokemon, he did his best to try and catch one the hard way. Getting pecked by Pidgeys, bit by Patrats, and even thrown out of a tree by a dang Pinsir he had used up all of his Pokeballs. He was just wandering around in the tall grass, not really knowing any better, and trips over a Zangoose. As fate would have it, it was wounded and in no mood to fight, having pretty bad burns on its body for whatever reasons he couldn't figure out. He managed to handle it and get a camp set up, picking Berries, namely Rawst and Oran, to make a kind of mushy medicine that was both healthy and tasty. The Zangoose wasn't very trustworthy at first, namely due to the injuries it suffered but within a few days it was healthy. Cory didn't expect a lasting relationship but apparently the act of kindness made the Zangoose warm up to him, thus Cory and his newfound partner set out on their own Pokemon journey... starting with the Pokemon Academy.

Also, HunterZero. You are correct that Gary Oak is a restricted NPC in that only me and Megaman can use him unless we give out permission. Selena will probably be making him do a few things during the field trip, but I'll probably control him when/if you bring Calnith to him. (Which would mean bringing Calnith on the boat at this point.)

Appearance: He is around 5ft 5in tall. He also almost always wears light blue jeans with a shirt with a picture of pichu on it. He has light blue eyes and short black hair. Rafael also has tannish skin.

Personality: He's an easygoing kid who is funny at times. Even though he's easygoing he helps people out when they need it. He can at times be really annoying.

He is a good person that is cool to be around. Although im cool doesnt mean i have many friends. When Rafael is around a popular or cute person he tends to act shy.

History: He is originaly from New Bark Town but moved to Vermillion city because of Team Rocket. His father is missing and then he put his love for his dad into his love for electric type pokemon. Rafaels dad was always strict about his secondary love of ground type pokemon. But since he disapeared his love for ground pokemon came back.

Everyday Rafael would go to diglett cave to hang out with the digletts. But one day a pichu was getting attacked by a group of dugtrio and fainted so Rafael brought it to the pokemon center and didnt want to leave me so i kept her. That day his mom was proud of him and let him keep Pichu as his very first pokemon.

Ever since the day he met pichu. Pichu and I were training twenty four-seven. We were training so we could one day hopefully get accepted into the trainer school. Then one day pichu started glowing but i stopped her from evolving because i loved her to much to let her turn into a pikachu.

Aggie’s outfit was designed and made by her sister, Samantha. It incorporates her favorite colors, and most comfortable style. She shares her green eyes and black hair with her mother, while taking her father’s darkly tanned skin and height. She stands at 5’6”, and weighs in at 127lbs.

Personality:

Aggie is a silent girl, but not by choice. She was born mute, and uses a pen and paper to communicate what she can’t express through emotion. She is very kind, helpful and cautious, upon meeting new people. The people who actually stick by her, the people who don’t leave her for inability to speak, the people who can look past that, are extremely precious to her. She will protect her friends and loved ones with her life.

She is annoyed very easily, though she will barely ever show it. She likes to get to know the people she is with, to try and make a connection with them. She doesn’t really put up any walls or defenses when meeting new people, because she can generally see how they are just by their facial expressions.

Putting her disability aside, in the midst of battle she will really get into it. She treasures her Pokemon, because they’re her best friends. If anything were to happen to them, she probably wouldn’t know what to do with herself. It would be like losing a family member. She is very emotional.

All in all, she has a kind heart, a helpful and caring personality, and an all-around good nature.

History:
Aggie was born in the middle of October, in Accumula town. She lived with her parents and big sister, Samantha, who was four years older than her. Aggie’s parents had always gushed about how great it was to be a Pokemon trainer, and she was introduced to Pokemon at a very young age. Both of her parents trained and raised Pokemon in their youth, and they wanted their daughters to follow in their footsteps.

She was taught many things by her parents and grandmother. She would take many written tests to prove her knowledge in Pokemon. Her parents were very pleased in knowing their mute daughter could learn so much, and retain the knowledge. They even went out to help her catch her first Pokemon, a Purrlion, whom she nicknamed Ruka.

Her sister on the other hand, had no interest in becoming a Pokemon trainer. Instead, she was more interested in designing clothing. Though, she stood by her little sister to help her whenever she needed it.

Their parents left on a cruise one weekend, saying they’d be gone for a few months. They left Samantha in charge of August, and soon they came across a brochure about a Trainer School, founded by the famous Professor Gary Oak. August had a feeling she would fit in there, and be around like-minded people, so she was eager to enroll. After confirmation from her parents, she sent in her information and soon received a letter in the mail, declaring her acceptance.

Many thought her inability to speak would cause her downfall as a trainer, but she learned to use hand motions to command her Pokemon, using her fingers to number which attacks were to be used.

Ahh yeah. I usually make my characters mute actually. You don't need to actually speak to communicate, remember that. And Aggie write's what she want's to say, and her emotions can pretty much say it all. It'll work out, no worries. I'll post right away.

Also, the big disconnect with writing is that most people's brains are wired so that they find themselves wanting to be spoken to audibly even if they know that's not an option. It's a longing feeling that can cause frustration, if you will. A lot of people also just don't read 100% of body language, and some characters read a whole lot less than that.

Regardless, if you're okay with difficulties like that all the more power to you.

I understand. I think I can pull it off, I really had to think about it for this one though. Being mute in the Pokemon world will cause difficulties, but I think it can be avoided for the most part.

I also feel the need to bring this whole Team Rocket thing up, seeing as I am in control of the Expo section of the RP for all intents and purposes (secondary to our wonderful GMs Yellow and Megaman obviouslys *totes brown nosing*)

But yeah, if Calnith is planning on staging some major show at the Expo...it will be smacked down by the Security. I think we need to remember that with HoTa we are talking about one of the biggest trans-national corporations in the WORLD (of Pokemon) - probably can draw parallels with Microsoft, News International or Exxon Mobil in our world. Major, multi-billion dollar turnover corporation.

As such, their security is reflective of this. And as the Expo is a huge annual event with so many high-profile attendees (who themselves will have their own personal security) HoTa takes absolutely no chances with their Security. All non-public areas will be heavily restricted, security guards have the most well-trained Pokemon secondary to the Champions themselves and the physical barriers that will be set in place will make this all practically redundant.

So I suppose I'm just setting the scene for any character who is hoping to cause trouble...as in, they can cause trouble, but they had better prepare for some serious butt-kicking and other consequences because trust me when I say that there is no way that an Academy student can outsmart this corporation.

Yellow, Megaman, feel free to tell me to stop being a douche if this is going too far, I just wanted to put it out there before the ship docks ^3^

Appearance:
Annalise is a very tan girl, rather toned in form because she managed to get around a lot. With milky, hazel eyes and neck length raven hair, she stands at 4’11” and weighs in at 105lbs. She wears a magenta and white striped tank top over a powder blue t-shirt. These meet navy blue bike shorts and black tennis shoes with socks that run up to her knees.

Personality:
Annalise is very much a product of her upbringing, being graced with being known in her village as one of the few children that lived. Because the village took the call of raising her with those that survived, she has developed a severe respect for adults, making her almost fully reserved in their presence. She has a great love of history because of how she was taught to never forget those that came before and thus has a great passion for Fossil Pokemon which eventually evolved into a love of Dinosauroid Pokemon overall. In fact, these are the type of Pokemon she has developed an obsession for, willing to go the distance to see, let alone attain.
She has developed a love overall for beauty, or at least her perception of it, stemming from a belief that life is precious, having come so nearly close to death, herself. Thus, whereas she has learned to conform to adults and their wants, she has an inbred love of what she believes can emphasize life, including history which entails what life once was. Because of this, she enjoys pushing herself in things like her encounters and her studies, the concept of experiencing life to its fullest becoming the most beautiful thing she knows just short of the past. She does, however, suffer from a chronic, unexplained insomnia that limits how much she exerts herself. She also suffers from being removed from her own generation of children, having not really grown up with anyone her age, thus meeting others like her brings her a sense of great joy and embarrassment, as she is unsure of how to perfectly act.

History:
Annalise grew up on Rockfort Island a small island, nestled off to itself in the Kanto region. Here, the close-knit community made do with what they had, only briefly going out of their way to the mainland as their only chief exports happen to be their curious offspring, willing to eke out into the world, if only because they are so detached from it. The island, however, fell victim to a powerful plague, the likes of which their small civilization was not prepared to receive. The result was the death of some of the adults and a majority of the children. Annalise was one of only a handful of children that managed to live.
Having survived at just the age of seven, she lost a lot, having lost her mother and her older brother, a teenager who had dreams of seeing the world and becoming a Pokemon paleontologist. While she loved him, she was not profoundly affected by his loss, at least not in comparison to a village that had lost its budding new generation. Rather than despair, however, the villagers effectively adopted the remaining children, each man and woman becoming a parent to the ones that had managed to survive. Many of the children did not see or interact with each other, and those that did had the awkward air of being more than what they were meant to be, the pressure of multiple adult expectations weighing them down. Annalise was especially kept from the others, being schooled from the beginning in remembering the things that were lost, being taught that all lives, no matter how small were precious.
In time, Annalise grew to the age of twelve and in an attempt to experience something new in life attempted to swim for the first time, a mistake that nearly resulted in her life being lost, the girl unaware of how to swim and swept away in the current. All would have been lost if not for a Lapras youngling separated from its herd that managed to collect her. She fell in love with its heroics, and the two became close, the Lapras becoming her first Pokemon. As she progressed, however, she inherited her brother’s will of becoming a Pokemon paleontologist and inherited his two Fossils, an Aerodactyl and a Kabuto. She was encouraged by her father to make a stake in life for herself and her brother, live for the two of them and get an education in Pokemon to become that paleontologist, so now the time came to put her knowledge to practice and theory, joining Pokemon Trainer Academy. Her will in this endeavor is not entirely her own, but she pushes forward to no ends regardless, only slowed down by chronic insomnia and some social awkwardness.

Guys, would you please update me here with your teams' levels? Our three newjoiners Cory, Sayumi, and Lunateix need not as I've been paying attention and they haven't battled yet.

I'll update as soon as Fuyu and I get done with the battle between Ciel and Brian. Also, would Thyme and Duster's fight be considered training as they are both Bri's pokemon? Or would it be a battle, as they were trying to kill each other and were fighting at full strength, which resulted in Duster fainting. I'm not sure whether they'd only gain one level each for training and one level for Duster fainting, or Thyme gains two and Duster gains three for being knocked out.

Y'know, that actually raises a darn good question. Battling your own pokemon definitely counts as a trainer battle, but if there is no trainer involved at all and it's just two trainer owned pokemon fighting...

...Perhaps getting one level is an appropriate balancer for the fact that pokemon are not supposed to be able to just train themselves efficiently.

Otherwise, people would really have no reason to limit how many pokemon they carry on them other than space to keep the balls, as they could just tell the pokemon to go train against each other and not be personally involved. Aka, pokemon get stronger and they get stronger faster when being trained by their trainer as opposed to training on their own.

Realistically it would depend on the intelligence of the pokemon as to how effective training themselves would be. A dragonite would realistically be able to train itself even better alone, or at least in theory, considering it's huuuge intelligence. Meanwhile a Jellicent possesses about as much intelligence as a real jellyfish. (See: Disturbingly little)

Yet, for the purposes of fairness, perhaps it is in the best interest that we put that balancer of only getting one level if a trainer is not involved. (Doesn't even have to be a specific trainer.)

Thanks. That helped a lot. But I have another question now that I think about it. Duster fainted during that little trainer-less battle with Thyme. Would she still gain the extra level for being knocked out because there is no trainer? Or would she not?
