But in all serious, I'm completely and utterly disillusioned with Japanese culture. It looks great until you consider the Yakuza /basically/ control the government, historically speaking they're just slightly more terrifying towards women than your average country, and they have the slightest track record for /racism/.

Also they accidentally an entire culture.

...There were totally several euphamisms in what I just said. @___@

But hey. Y'know what /is/ a great time to indulge in Japanese culture? When you're dealing with kanto, Johto, and people originating from them. Because they're totally based ou Japan n' stuff... This actually makes me wonder if Team Rocket was ever based on the Yakuza. Feels plausible. I'll do some research and get to you guys on that one. ;o

@Meganium90: We don't really choose our. own classes. I make a post in the OOC assigning them each day. That being said you can totally request a certain class and I'll consider it.

It's team update time for Nika Valentine again. Feel free to skip over the massive post I made, but personally I (am biased) think it's decent. Gives some insight into who Nika is anyway.

Paras gained +2 levels for fighting two wild Aipom, and evolved into Parasect. No new moves were learned. Team is as follows;

Dr. Applewood is cold,stern and emotionless. Most see Dr.Applewood as a lifeless person. Dr. Applewood cares deeply
about his studies. Although many may not know it, Dr.Applewood wishes the best for his students. Dr.Applewood is

words, he is your average teacher.

History:
Dr. Jonas Applewood was born in Cerulean City,Kanto. From an early age, Jonas took an interest in Pokemon Mythology. Jonas would research whatever he could on the subject and quite the knowledge on the subject. Jonas would go through school earning fantastic marks during the process. After graduating from Cerulean City High School, Jonas was accepted into Mossdeep University in Hoenn. During Jonas' time in Hoenn, he studied the legends of Hoenn and the so called " Legendary Pokemon" associated with them. Jonas spent seven years at Mossdeep University, earning a Doctorate in Archeology. After University, Jonas was hired at the Pewter City Museum. Jonas was a archeologist for the Museum, collecting multiple pieces of important data on "Legendary Pokemon". Jonas was Professor Oak's personal guide when it comes to Pokemon Legends. When Oak opened up the Academy, Professor Oak called on Dr.Applewood to teach.

So, today while I was doing random things (Such as relaxing after coming home from a con and playing TF2), something hit me. A question that seems like something that's completely obvious, but I've never heard it spoken, or generally talked about. So here is my question...

Is there Pokémon Trading Cards within the Pokémon world? There's plushies, and it's only logical that corporations would merchandise the hell out of Pokémon, which it already has been in-game. (I've seen several NPCs with shelves stocked full of Pokémon goods).

I was thinking that this could be brought up because there are kids who aren't able to get a Pokémon, or too young for it, and it'd be obvious that they would start to collect them. Could add something extra to the Academy, in case someone would want to start this up. Could be easier to talk to other people IC'ly as well, due to the whole "Wanna trade cards?" thing. Could even retcon it and make the cardgame a non-battle one and just a collection thing. What do you guys think?

@Sir Bastian: Eh... Cards... for battle? Is this Yugioh? I think they thoroughly exhausted taking children's card games that seriously. Regardless, no that doesn't feel in the spirit of pokemon. Pokemon has never been like that to my knowledge.

Besides, in the pokemon world, even if people did collect pokemon cards, they'd probably be exactly like baseball cards instead of the game we know here. Perhaps with interesting factoids on the card.

Yeah, that's exactly what I mean! I mean that instead of them being like we know them, they would be more collectibles, and not have anything to do with card battles. After all, you can watch the real deal on TV, or go to a battlefield somewhere and watch some trainers duke it out

I do mean the way that you're saying it, maybe I didn't make myself clear enough. But that just seems like a logical thing to be in the world. But more for the younger audience, those who can't catch Pokémon yet, but are still into it? Am I rambling here?

Actually, I would agree with the idea. I mean, the kids that are far too young to adventure with pokemon and dream of doing so would probably go out and try to "collect them all". The little information panels would teach them before they actually go out, and they would learn all of the species.

I do recall in the TV show (the original, I'm sure) that there were one or two trainers with 'Pokemon Cards'. Though they weren't for card battles, they were for collection and for information regarding the Pokemon.


Actually, I think PTA should have a "Trading Card Club" just for such an occasion!

Kiyoko, disguised as a small boy, might actually become obsessed with something like that, even though he can't read.
