A Journey RP

Two years prior...

For reasons that baffle both Pokémon Professors and General Experts alike, Pokémon from all over the world have been flocking to Sinnoh. Flying Pokémon come to the region in massive drones, Water Pokémon are crawling onto the shores and others have made it to the island by alternative means. The world is in a state of confusion over this sudden migration to Sinnoh. However, the people have understood that things have changed, and Sinnoh has become more populated than ever, with people coming from all over the world. Canalave City, the Fight Area, Snowpoint City, Sunyshore City and Pastoria City have expanded their already existing ports. Even the small beach south of Sandgem Town has been turned into a port, turning Sandgem Town into Sandgem City. Veilstone City, once closed off, has also become a port. Sinnoh is facing growth of epic proportions. However...

One year prior...

While Sinnoh was leaping forward, no one seemed to notice it was leaving the other major regions in the dust. Hoenn was hit the hardest. It wasn't connected to the mainland and relied on people ferrying to it. One group decided to take a stand. They called themselves SUN, lead by a figure named 'Osoli', and have begun stirring up turmoil in both Hoenn and some parts of Sinnoh. Reports of them in Johto and Kanto have come up, but not by much. Because of these issues, the leaders of Sinnoh have decided to start up their Pokémon League again, as most Gyms had to be closed temporarily due to the change the region was going through and the fact that the island the actual league was on, The Lily of the Valley, had been turned into an Airport and a Seaport. However, only to a select few. Afterward, the league would remain closed until further notice. They believed this would kick-start the leagues on Kanto, Johto and Hoenn and have people return there. And, to show there are no hard feelings, the 4 people chosen would be 11 to 13 year old children from all four regions, and allowing them to have Starter Pokémon from their native regions. The 'Pokémon International League Revitalization Project' would begin in one year.

Now...

You are one of those children. You are currently on a private aircraft to The Lily of the Valley Airport, where the new Pokémon League Building stands, where you will be boated to Sandgem City to speak with Professor Rowan to get your Pokémon and begin your journey across the Sinnoh region.

Home Region: Kanto
Appearance: Gerard is thinner than most boys his age, with rather long legs, a tan skin color, and a height reaching about 5’11”. He has short, black hair in the style of a buzz-cut, and has hazel eyes. He wears a white, open hoodie that he always keeps the sleeves rolled up over wears his purple t-shirt with multiple paint splatter designs. Gerard wears black jeans that are slightly worn down on the knees, and a brown belt to hold them up. His shoes are blue with white laces, and he also wears a red armband around his wrist.
Personality: Gerard is an all-around nice guy most of the time. He is very social and outgoing, and tries to make friends with everyone he meets. However, he is very talkative, and can go on for hours, switching from topic to topic instantly. This quality often leads the people that are around Gerard the most to find him annoying. Gerard’s favorite activity since he was young was running. Whenever he was bored or had nothing to do, he would run. Because he could be quite lazy at times, he would even run to avoid doing certain chores. One of Gerard’s more unpleasant qualities are his quick temper. When he gets into an argument, it can lead to him escalating things too far, and he comes off as a jerk. However, he is also a forgiving person, and therefore cannot stay mad at others, no matter what the reason is. Gerard isn’t afraid to speak his mind, and will not back down in a discussion. However, his pride can get in the way, as he will often ignore others’ advice or ideas if he feels strongly about his own. Gerard’s opinion towards pokemon is the same as his opinion towards people. He finds that they all have their roles in life, and that some will appeal more to others because of their behavior. Gerard is very confident in his own skills, and the abilities of the pokemon he meets. He loves to battle because he enjoys it, and always tries his hardest.
History: Growing up, Gerard never knew his father. He had died of an illness before his birth, but Gerard was never too upset about it. As he got older, he knew that he would have to take care of his mom and be the man of the house. With this in mind, Gerard always acted kind towards his mother, and did what she asked of him. They lived rather comfortably, even though they did not have much money. Gerard made the best of what he had, and never complained about their way of life. Over the years, however, Gerard watched the world go by, and dreamt of going out to meet others, and make friends. Most of all, he loved the pokemon. Living towards the woods, Gerard was able to go out and run along trails, finding pokemon that resided there. Many were timid, but Gerard was friendly towards them, and found their habits funny and intriguing. Gerard never had any human friends, which is why he tries so hard to be the best person he can be, and make friends with pokemon. Now, being 13 years old, Gerard has decided to go out into the world. As he left, he bid his mother farewell, knowing she would be fine, and hoping that one day, he could make his name known throughout the world as a pokemon master.

Making his way through the forest, Gerard spoke aloud to himself to pass the time. “I wonder what this Rhydon will be like. According to the task, it shouldn’t be too violent, as it hasn’t done anything yet. But I guess I’ll just have to find out when I find it.” As he walked, Gerard thought he heard a noise coming from somewhere in the woods. It sounded like something yelling loudly. It even sounded like a person. That was when Gerard remembered seeing another boy headed towards the same village as he was. He didn’t really get a good look at him, since the boy had taken a different path.

Focusing back on the task at hand, Gerard emerged from the woods into a clearing, and saw a cave directly in front of him. It was very dark, and Gerard couldn’t see much in front of him. “I wonder if this is the cave I was supposed to find. It seems like it is, but I can’t see inside of it…” Gerard paused and thought of a plan to lure out the Rhydon that was supposed to be inside. “…I’ve got it!” Pulling his bag off of his shoulders, Gerard opened it and looked at the berries in his pack. “Hmm… a super tough rock type like you would probably enjoy one of these.” Gerard pulled out two chesto berries and placed them on the ground. He then rolled a third one into the cave, and waited.

He heard a crunching noise, followed by heavy footsteps. The Rhydon emerged from its cave. It was less than half-a-foot taller than Gerard, but that didn’t stop it from seeming like a giant wall from Gerard’s perspective. Once out in the sun, it looked around, and then saw the other chesto berries Gerard had laid out of it. Bending over, it picked up the berries in its massive claws, and shoved both in its mouth. It chewed them happily, which pleased Gerard. He walked up and touched the pokemon on its stomach as he stared in awe. An entire village feared this giant creature from afar, but up close, Gerard saw that it was a gentle beast. Gerard proceeded to rub the Rhydon’s belly, which gave it great pleasure as it wagged its tail back and forth. The tail slammed into the side of the cave entrance, and immeadiately a large rumbling sound was made. Gerard and the Rhydon paused, both of them sensing trouble. They then looked up at the cliff, and saw cracks forming quickly. “Oh man! We’ve got to run!” Gerard quickly ran from the cliff, with the Rhydon close behind it. They stopped and turned just in time to see the entire cliff crumbling and falling hard on where they were originally standing.

Heart racing and startled, Gerard took a moment to contemplate what had just happened. He then remembered that the task had said the dangers of the cliff. Now, due to his carelessness, the entrance to the cave was blocked off. He looked at the Rhydon, which was saddened by the loss of its home. “Don’t worry Rhydon. I’ll do anything it takes to find you a new home!” Gerard smiled and walked along the side of the formation where the closed off cave was, with the Rhydon beside him. After about an hour, they had found a cave that could fit Rhydon. And because it was much further away from the village, there was no chance the two would ever have to worry about interacting again. “Good luck Rhydon. I hope you live a good life.” Gerard gave one last glance at the pokemon before he walked away, happy with what had happened this day.

Name: Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Carter
Gender: Female
Age: Thirteen
Home Region: Johto

Appearance: Lizzie, surprisingly, is pretty average for a thirteen year old teenager when it comes down to height, weight and what she prefers to dress in. Surprising because of her mother, father and older brother being all quite tall. Her light coloured skin compliments well with her green eyes and dark brown hair, which she styles in a pony tail with a fringe swept to the side most of the time. Her wardrobe consists mostly of t-shirts with Pokemon designs all over them, denim shorts, trainers and the odd dress or two. She prefers practical clothing, things that if it got spoiled, it wouldn't matter too much. She is almost never seen without her small faded red backpack, in which she takes with her a camera and a notebook.

Personality: In her family of four, Lizzie is somewhat of an underdog. All three of her family members are and always have been overachievers, doing well in whatever they set their mind to. Lizzie has had a hard time living up to their standards, consequently becoming slightly underconfident in herself and what she is able to achieve. When around others her age however, she would be the one to think logically through a problem and solve it with ease. She has a love of science, especially biology and is aspiring to be a Pokemon professor. Lizzie is kind-hearted, compassionate and has no problem communicating with people of all ages. The one thing that really annoys her however is when others tend to act as showoffs which gets her into various arguments with her brother.

History: Lizzie's life has been remarkably ordinary up until this point in time. She grew up in the seaside town of Olivine city in the Johto region. The Carter's house was fairly close to one of the less popular beaches where Lizzie and her brother spent a lot of their time. This was where Lizzie had her first encounter with a wild Pokemon - a hasty Krabby who quickly used Bubble on the unsuspecting youngster and then fled. Lizzie was not hurt during her meeting with the wild Krabby but from then on, she became fascinated with all species of Pokemon. Her love started with Water types, filled with amazement as she discovered Pokemon of all sizes who were able to blast powerful jets of water at a foe. Throughout her young schooling life, she tried her hardest to integrate the subject of Pokemon into her assignments and tasks she was required to complete. She dreamt of attending the Pokemon Academy on the other side of town when she turned fifteen, which specialised in all areas of the Pokemon world. When she found out that she would be able to have a chance to actually become a trainer, the Pokemon Academy was out the door and trainer manuals, new gear bought with every last dollar she could earn and one shiny, new red and white Pokeball was in.

RP Sample: This is just something recent I've written for a fic

A pair of earthly brown eyes peered over the rocky landscape. It was filled with an abundance of shells which made up many different shapes, colouring the landscape with their pastel purples and blues. Scanning the water as the ocean froth was slowly rolling onto the shore of the beach, the pair of eyes could not see one single Pokemon in sight. Disappointed, the young girl unclipped the smooth surfaced, red and white ball from her belt, staring at it intently, her eyebrows showing her discontent.
"Poliwhirl, this is all we've managed to find, I don't see how we're going to enter the contest with just a Magikarp!" Isobelle Tyrone complained as she shook her head.
The Poliwhirl she had spoken to stood beside her as he looked upwards at his novel trainer. His large dark eyes, filled with content, complemented the young Poliwhirl's appearance. His smooth, leathery skin, a pale blue in colour, was shimmering with droplets, having just made his way out of the cooling water.
Poliwhirl could understand the frustration his trainer felt at this moment by only having caught a Magikarp in their day's excursions, thought to be one of the weakest Pokemon known to man, by human standards. He had always thought Isobelle would make an excellent trainer, the pair having been good friends for a number of years now but Poliwhirl had not realised how difficult it was going to be.
Isobelle or 'Belle' as she was also known, at just seventeen, had not long ago decided that she'd take up Pokemon training. There had been no decision made about which type of Pokemon she'd train - the answer had been obvious as Isobelle both already had a water-type Pokemon and hailed from Red Rock Isle, an island which was a part of the 'mysterious' Whirl Islands in the Johto region. There were a number of myths and legends surrounding the Whirl Islands and the status of mysterious Pokemon that were said to dwell on the ocean floor. Isobelle, however, just called it home.
Red Rock Isle was also where Poliwhirl had been born and raised as a young Poliwag. It was common for many residents of the Whirl Islands to establish breeding programmes, much like the one Poliwhirl had been born into. The majority of these breeding programmes specialised in water-type Pokemon, the most common type around these parts. The skills of the water-type Pokemon were utilised everyday in various different ways. The Whirl Islands had become somewhat famous for the variety of water-type species the breeding programmes produced with trainers and Poke-enthusiasts coming from all over the globe to add one to their team.
Isobelle and Poliwhirl, just weeks into their training, had made it safely to Yellow Rock Isle, the next port north of Red Rock Isle, getting its name from the landscape, which indeed did contain rocks of a yellow tone. They'd been searching for more water-type Pokemon, spending the majority of their second day on the isle looking. It had started off as a fun adventure, Isobelle's confidence lifted once she had successfully captured her very first wild Pokemon - a slightly weak looking Magikarp. Isobelle had, since then, dragged Poliwhirl half way around the island, her dark eyes forever searching for the slightest sign a water-type Pokemon may be within her reach. They'd had no luck, however, not even seeing one flick of a fin or little bubbles rising from the ocean depths.
Isobelle quickly scanned the waterproof watch she had been given specifically for this trip. It told her that it was 4:33pm.
"C'mon Poliwhirl, we might as well head back into town before it gets too dark out here," She motioned to her friend before gathering her belongings that were strewn out across the rocks they had settled on.
Gritting her teeth, Isobelle thought ahead, to the coming weeks that would bring her and Poliwhirl one step closer to the ultimate challenge - the Whirl Cup. A Pokemon battling tournament located in the Whirl Islands, it brought water-type Pokemon trainers from all over to Red Rock Isle to battle it out for the title. Being a lover of all things water-type, Isobelle had seen this as the first step in her journey. It was the reason she was so eager to capture and train more Pokemon. She needed at least three water-types if she was going to have any chance at the competition. She hadn't realised how difficult it would be already. Poliwhirl and herself had only had a limited amount of battle training in the past few weeks.

Name: Vasco Pire

Gender: Male

Age: 12

Home Region: Sinnoh

Appearance: Vasco Pire is a rather average boy standing with a height of 5'1". His green eyes accentuates his wide forehead. Her dark-colored skin stands out well when he is with his friends: all others are white. He never bothered to comb his blonde hair, giving him the look of having just risen from bed in the morning. The one thing that people immediately notice about Vasco is his birthmark, located on his left cheek.

He prefers wearing denim pants, but he also wear shorts and pajamas occasionally. He also likes hooded jacket because of the coldness in the Sinnoh region. His favorite jacket is the one he got from his father, bearing the logo of a mysterious group named "UMBRA." Vasco is never seen not wearing a red scarf around his neck.

Personality: Vasco Pire is a very aloof guy. He dislikes socializing with other people, except his friends. He tends to stay away from other people. As a result, he seldom have new friends.

On the other hand, he can be a great leader for a team, being very smart (with an IQ of 140) and very advance-thinker. He once had led his school group towards success in a recently concluded Non-professional Pokemon Battling Tour, held in Canalave City. Deep inside, he loved reading ancient mythologies and legends. He wanted to be a Ruin Maniac.

History: Vasco Pire is an orphan, losing his mother and father in a terrible accident five years ago. After that incident, he was taken care of his mother's brother, a local Professor named Hawthorn. It was him who sent Vasco to school, and gave him his very first Pokemon. He ran away from home at age ten, and have been traveling the Sinnoh region. This is where he met his mentor and guardian, Archeologist Toledo. Together, they have been unraveling Pokemon mysteries by the hour and, soon enough, their names are published in paper. Toledo is also the one responsible for giving Vasco his Trainer status after they uncovered the mysterious Archen fossil. Vasco is now back at home with Hawthorn, helping the old Professor in his researches.

RP Sample: This is an excerpt from the fanfic I am writing now, entitled "Exploits"

I used to be a nervous child. I always had nervous breakdown whenever I talk in front of many people. I also hated socializing with other people. I was a kid with no friends. I used to play alone with my Pokémon stuffed toys. When I reached ten, I only went to Professor Thyme because my parents forced me to do so. They were famous trainers back in their days and they wanted me, their only child, to follow the same path. Honestly, I really don’t want to become a trainer because it would mean socializing with various kinds of people: Trainers, Leaders, Breeders, Researchers. And I freak out merely by the thought of it. But my father, he made me go unwillingly to Professor Thyme. He used threats like cutting off my allowance for my hobby: sticker collection. My mother agreed with him and even added that if I were not to become a trainer, then I should just go to school. I find neither choice very inviting, but I have to choose the lesser evil. So I found myself staring at the funny face of Professor Thyme.

He was holding this box full of balls, which according to the Professor contains the fulfillment of our dreams. I let out a big sigh. Dreams, huh? No dream for me. Predestination maybe, but not dream. I was the last one to get a ball. I threw it into the air and out came my first Pokémon: Ekans. However, it is not the normal purple-colored snake but it is a rather pale-golden. The kid beside me, who got a Zorua, was staring in amazement.

“It is a Shiny Ekans! I have read things about shiny Pokémon, Pokémon whose color is not the normal one people usually find in the wild. There is a very small chance of obtaining a shiny Pokémon, and your first was one!” He excitedly said. I went away from him for fear of inviting a conversation. As I walked away, I saw his face turn from excitement to confusion.

“We will be having your very first Pokémon battle right now! I will be dividing the group into two, and the battle will commence!” I was paired with a girl. I have no argument about that since it is much easier for me to battle with the same gender. She was a hardy one, I remember. I think her name was Salon? Or Salem? I can’t quite remember. I last saw her with Chill, the guy with the Zorua, during the Great War a year ago. And we were not quite on good terms that time. Salem had a lucky pick with a Totodile. A major elemental Pokémon will always be at an advantage against a minor elemental Pokémon and, to nobody’s surprise, my shiny Ekans fell when Totodile’s Fling, a medium-sized stone hit it in the head. Salem offered a hand but I refused and quickly got away.

After the battles, we were finally sent off our own way. My father and mother were beaming with joy, seeing their only daughter going on an adventure they took many years ago. I let out a big sigh. Our group of sixteen kids was walking down this path to Helaium City when I, always the loner, took the road less taken in the forest, slowly separating from the group with my Shiny Ekans.

Looking back, I realized I was the first one to divert from the original plan. I unconsciously triggered the series of events that ultimately led me here. If I had not separated from them, who knows where I am now?

Well, if this roleplay is even still on, I might aswell post a SU while I can.

Name: Zoey 'Zo' Everdeen

Gender: Female

Age: 13

Home Region: Hoenn

Appearance: Zoey has very pale skin, some would think that she was like a porcelain doll, though not fragile. She was strong, could fight if she needed to and was very fit. She stood at 5'06", average size for her age. Her hair is a very dark brown that it almost looks black, especially under the moonlight. Her hair is curled, not crimped or anything. Just natural curls that fall down to her waist. Her eyes were a striking grey, when she got angry they seemed to darken a little like a thunder storm. She wears black jeans, black boots (no heel, she likes it flat) a red tank top and a black leather jacket to top it all off.

Personality: Zoey is a very nice person, the type of girl who would smile and say hello to you on the streets. Also, she is fiercly loyal to her friends, family and allies. While, her personality seems very great, she can also be the type of girl where you could light a bon fire next to her and she still comes off the most fiery one. She is also very protective of the ones she loves, she would die for them in an instant.

If one threatened a loved ones life, she would step in almost instantly. Even if it doesn't concern her or its none of her buisness. While it's obvious that she cares and respects people, if someone came off too much like a jerk, she won't like you from the start. It would take alot of trying and hard work to earn her respect, if any of course wanted it.

History: She has a whole family, a mother, father, sister and brother. Her mother and father were the average couple, her mother would clean and cook their food while her father would work out at the breeder's farm. Zoey dotes apon her younger sister, Anna, who is only nine years old. The reason being because of her father's work times and their mother's gardening shows, they barely had time to raise their recent daughter. Leaving the job to Zoey and her older brother Mark. Zoey and Mark had only a year's different between them and they bickered quite alot, but when it came to Zoey, they put aside their differences and helped eachother out. Zoey had done this for six years and just wanted to get out and see the world for what it was. Zoey wanted to explore, have a pokemon and become a master. She said goodbye to her family and left for her journey.

Casey huffed as she walked out of the cave with her Growlithe by her side, it skipped along with her and Casey crouched down next to the Pokemon. They had just gotten out of a heavy battle, one involving a Golem and Aron. Casey was just amazed that they got out unharmed, well...mostly anyway.

"I got a potion for you." She told the Growlithe who was inspecting it's paw. Chuckling softly, Casey took her bag that hung from her shoulder and took one of the Potion's out before handing it over to the little Pokemon. It gulped the liquid down and bounded off down the bridge connecting bolder to bolder. "You're welcome, Growlithe." She muttered and swung her bag back over her shoulder before going after the Pokemon.

An hour more of walking until the duo had made it to Slateport City. Growlithe let out a happy chirp, looking back at it's master with a...she could have sworn it was a smile. Casey smiled back and nodded towards the city, Growlithe didn't need anymore encouragement than that as he bolted through the gates. Growlithe loved to do that, it was a favourite thing of his, to just run to many different places with Casey following after. Though she never complained, because if she encountered more pokemon, there he was. Ready to fight.

The relationship between the two was very compatiable. The Growlithe felt as if Casey were trying her best to take care of him as she had no experience before, she had found him in bush wounded and injured. Sadly, this was on a day where the Pokemon Center was just too full to take anyone else, so Casey nursed him back to health. Ever since then, they have been a team. They were protective of eachother and didn't like having the other out of sight for too long, but it didn't matter. The other always came back and they were still a pair of the best trainer and pokemon in the world.
